《The Homeless Immortals》 Prologue: In the continent of Irilia, existed a myriad of Fantasy races all coexisting under the same sky, there were the Elves of the north famed for their wisdom and beauty, the Dwarfs in the east praised for their smithing skills, The beast-man of the south with their unmatched strength and ferocity, and the Humans in the east with their gift of being the race able to adapt the quickest to any type of change. But nonetheless there was still one race, one shrouded in so much mystery that most consider them nothing but urban legends, a race considered so far ahead of all the rest they chose to Isolate themselves from all Mortal affairs. Some say if that if you find them you can be granted any wish you so desire wether it¡¯s Money, power fame it does not matter for their power is unimaginable, others say they are the true definition of beauty, a race of immortal golden winged people hidden deep in the forest, it matters not what people say though for they have been gone for more than a thousand years, and who can say for sure what exactly happened to them, as reality and legends tend to blur as the years pass. Stolen story; please report. The last that have been heard of them however was in the dawn of this Era for they have been the ones to end the previous one and stop all the chaos and fighting between the races, and guide all of them towards an Era of peace and prosperity, once that have been done they retreated towards the Great forest as if their purpose accomplished, and have not been heard from since. Numerous tries have been made in attempt to contact their saviors, but all ended up in failure because of the monsters inhabiting the Great Forest, the deeper you dive in the forest the stronger the Monsters become, so that made all tries futile and people started to give up, except for the occasional adventures brave enough to go looking for the mysterious race in hopes of gaining fame and glory, most of which are never heard from again, some however come back with even more amazing stories of winged immortals guiding them back out of the forest safely. Most people nowadays worship them as deities who saved them all and guided them towards the light when they needed it the most so that¡¯s why most call them the Lumen¡¯s for being the guiding light to many, the light that put an end to the Dark Era. But now that the current peace is threatened and War is looming over the heads of all the people in the continent, one thing is for sure, all pray for the return of The Lumen¡¯s for they are The beacon of light and Hope of this world. Chapter 1: Somewhere deep inside the Great Forest, far past the outer and inner reach that are infested with monsters was a huge lake, far in the middle of this lake a giant floating Island could be seen with huge metallic chains anchoring it to the lake and keeping it from floating away. Strangely surrounding the lake all types of monstrosities could be seen gathered around, either alone or in groups drinking from the water, the thing that made this scene even more odd however was the fact that no conflict could be seen around the perimeter of the lake, as if it was a safe zone where no fighting is allowed. Wether it was the giant monstrosities from Dragons to the more normal ones such as giant wolfs, all stood side by side drinking or just resting, sounds of fighting and growling could be heard however from the forest, as one such Giant wolf came out of the trees towards the clearing bloody and battered, his left ear was clearly ripped off by some other monster while his front leg was limping, all around his body were all sort of bite marks. As soon as he made it towards the clearing however his eyes which carried a hint of intelligence in them glanced towards the floating Island and flashed a sign of relief, right behind him however a menacing, slavering creature strode out of the forest. It was large with bony limbs. The creature¡¯s forelimbs were rather lanky compared to the rest of the body, and the back legs were short. From its stomach grew two more stubby arms, which were completely caked in blood, probably used for grabbing the prey. The head appeared to be a solid sphere, but it opened its jaw extremely wide to let out a horrifying, slavering snarl, unfolding its head almost like an onion and revealing rows and rows of yellow teeth. The creature glanced around the clearing ignoring all those present until it¡¯s gaze stopped on the Giant wolf, it seemed to have gone mad with rage perhaps because it¡¯s prey have escaped, no one could really tell but the monster seemingly blinded by rage ignored everything and dashed towards the wolf that was already too exhausted to move, it¡¯s eyes however shone with despair and insanity, it¡¯s will to live clearly not extinguished but it¡¯s body too tired to make a move. Just when all hope seem to been lost for the wolf a loud majestic voice roared. ¡°HOW DARE YOU! YOU INSOLENT LOWER LIFE-FORM!¡± The flapping sound of wings followed by rustling before the figure of a stunning young maiden appeared, she had long fiery red hair flying with the wind with equally matching red wings similar to a flaming torch, she looked like a Goddess of War coming down to pass down her judgment. All the surrounding creatures shuddered in fear with the appearance of the young lady, that emitted an aura of majesty. The monstrosity that have apparently broken some type of agreement, was frozen in place before It had even reached the wolf. ¡°You dare break the sacred pact?¡± Her red eyes were cold as she glared at the monster who was shivering on the ground. ¡°Hmph, your punishment for that is Death...¡± with those final words she raised one arm up as if she was an immortal passing down her judgment, atop of her arm a small ball of dark ominous red flames appeared and started expanding, all the monsters present started shivering with the appearance of the ball of flame and tried to move away but all were rooted in place by a primal fear born from deep within their souls.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. The monstrosity that was the cause of all of this wanted to struggle, tried to struggle but ultimately failed, and all it could do was watch as the seemingly frail hand of the maiden pointed towards it, the ball of flame started to move ever so slowly towards itself once it made contact with it¡¯s flesh an inhuman scream resounded around the plain as it¡¯s flesh caught on fire. It did not take long however before the monster dropped down to the ground lifeless. Another figure soon appeared next to young lady, with Light blue, curly hair which hangs over a a fine, cheerful face, with equally light blue wings. Beady ocean eyes, set elegantly within their sockets, watch delicately over the woods, with a short well trimmed beard that charmingly compliments his hair and leaves a pleasant memory of his fortunate looks. ¡°Eso, Don¡¯t you think that was a bit of an overkill?¡± He said ¡°That thing, deserved it for all I care.¡± She shrugged, while her eyes scanned the monsters present, as if daring them to make a move, unfortunately or fortunately none dared to raise their head in her presence not even the esteemed Dragons. ¡°How boring, I was finally excited thinking there would be something interesting, turns out it¡¯s just an Ugly stupid monster.¡± ¡°You know we can always sneak out, maybe we can make it till the outer perimeter this time.¡± Winked the young man. ¡°Shuush, you Idiot don¡¯t speak so loudly the last thing we want is Suzi hearing us!¡± Spoke Eso in a hushed voice while looking left and right as if afraid someone might pop out. ¡°Ugh, true true¡± replied the guy while involuntarily shuddering ¡°Though, Simo Think we can make it before the Elders find out?¡± ¡°It¡¯s worth the try, and Keii get out here I know you are out there lurking.¡± He said while flashing a toothy grin. ¡°Shhhh, Suzi is gonna hear you.¡±hissed a new figure that suddenly appeared next to him. Keii had pure shoulder length white hair and glowing white wings that seemed to cast a holy glow on everything around it. Apparently she had been spying on the couple for the whole time. ¡°So you in or out? I¡¯m sure Eso is in.¡± ¡°Hey! I never said I was!¡± ¡°Oh shuush please we all know you want to go.¡± ¡°Sure should be interesting to see you get in trouble again.¡± Replied Keii with a huge grin on her face. ¡°Not if you guys don¡¯t rat me out like last time!¡± ¡°Not my fault you were an Idiot and caused us to get caught.¡± Shrugged Eso ¡°YOU BAILED ON ME THE SECOND YOU HEARD THE ELDERS MIGHT COME!!¡± Keii started laughing one hand on her stomach the other wiping her tears. ¡°Guys! Where are you? I made snacks!¡± Yelled a soft voice. ¡°Shit! Suzi...¡± Said Simo while visibly shuddering he then shot a glare to the other girls. ¡°FOOD!¡± Yelled Keii ready to fly off, until she realized their situation and looked back towards Simo. ¡°Don¡¯t you DARE rat me out this time! And i¡¯m looking at you Eso, i¡¯m going ahead alone this time it¡¯s already too late, cover me, Keii I trust you!¡± With one final determined look he then soared silently in the air deeper in the Forest. A couple of seconds later another figure could be seen gently flying towards Eso and Keii that were still floating atop of the lake. She had soft green hair that reached till her shoulders, green eyes that shined like gems, complimented by her green Wings, there was something gentle about her, she wore a soft smile while slowly approaching the girls. Her brows however were soon frowned. ¡°How come I don¡¯t see Simo?¡± ¡°No Idea I just came here when I heard Eso was gonna deal with the problem and I didn¡¯t see him.¡± Smiled Keii innocently ¡°Hmmm, I see what about you Eso?¡± Cold sweat trickled her back as she forced herself to smile, while scratching her head. ¡°N-no Idea Ha-Ha.¡± ¡°You wouldn¡¯t happen to be Lying to me now are you Eso?¡± Gently Smiled Suzi, but there was something scary about it as it made both Eso and Keii to shiver involuntarily. ¡°He went towards the outer perimeter of the Forest!¡± Replied Eso while Keii facepalmed. ¡°That Idiot, If the Elders find out he won¡¯t get out of it easily this time.¡± Sighted Suzi while pinching the bridge of her nose. ¡°He just left so he can¡¯t be that far.¡± Shrugged Keii ¡°Let¡¯s go we are going after him, I can sense him deep in the forest he¡¯s already close to the outer perimeter, Keii we will need your help to catch up to him.¡± ¡°Sure leave it to me.¡± She then raised her hand towards Her companions and they both started glowing a faint white color making all three of them look holy. ¡°Once we catch up to him, i¡¯ll try and pin him down while Eso you bomb his ass!¡± ¡°Ha-Ha, I mean I know he won¡¯t die But isn¡¯t that too much?¡± ¡°You know how slippery he can be with his water body so just focus on stopping him, let¡¯s go!¡± The trio then turned into beams of light that flew deeper towards the Forest, chasing after their companion Chapter 2: First encounter with the Humans A lone figure could be seen flying atop the Ancient trees of the Great Forest, heading from the inner reaches straight towards the Outer perimeter, that figure was none other then Simo, while flying a blue aura could be seen surrounding him, he scanned his surroundings with clear excitement on his ocean eyes, until he¡¯s eyes hardened and he suddenly came to a halt, a fire ball was shot from behind him and landed on the trees in front of him, he frowned before simply trying to fly higher and bypass the wall of fire, when suddenly the roots of the trees down shot at an extreme speed and grabbed him, soon the Trio came to view. ¡°Simo, sit still and don¡¯t struggle i¡¯m bringing your dumb ass back!¡± He growled glancing at the new comers ¡°Oh c¡¯mon Suzi, not again! I just want to check!¡± ¡°Check what you Idiot?! you know you can be spotted you!¡± He¡¯s body then started glowing a blinding blue before it dissolved to water which slipped away from the roots of the trees holding him. ¡°And what¡¯s the worst that can Happen??¡± ¡°Once an Idiot always an Idiot.¡± Sighted Eso. He glared at her before replying ¡°Oh please I don¡¯t wanna hear that from you, we both know you also want to see.¡± ¡°Hmph..¡± ¡°And Keii I trusted you!!¡± ¡°It was not me.¡± She Shrugged ¡°ESO!!!¡± ¡°I-I¡¯m sorry but Suzi is scary with that gentle smile of her!¡± ¡°Hmmmm, am I now?¡± Smiled Suzi Innocently. ¡°See see!¡± Shouted Eso while pointing at Suzi. ¡°Now now Simo, let¡¯s go back.¡± ¡°Just listen to me, we already close to the outer reaches, how about this we just go for a quick glance, and come back as fast with all four of us here our chances of getting spotted are far less and I mean c¡¯mon what¡¯s the worst that could happen?¡±Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. ¡°DON¡¯T JINX IT!!¡± shouted Keii ¡°No Simo! The last thing I want is more problems from the Elders.¡± ¡°They won¡¯t know if you don¡¯t tell them Suzi, come on it¡¯ll be fuunn! Right guys?¡± He then glanced towards his companions for support. Keii flashed a smile at that ¡°I mean one time indeed doesn¡¯t seem too bad Suz.¡± ¡°Cough we can always blame it on Simo cough¡± ¡°Won¡¯t be the first time you do that¡± he replied glaring at Eso ¡°What am I to do with you all,¡± said Suzi while pinching the bridge of her nose, a habit of hers every time she was in deep thought, the others just remained silent waiting for her reply, after a few seconds of silence she raised her head to look at them. ¡°Fine, but JUST a quick look and i¡¯m saying it again just ONE look and then we head back!¡± ¡°Yes yes yes of course! I mean who is to say anyone would even be there besidemonsters.¡± Enthusiastically said Simo. ¡°Okay then, Keii we will count on you for our disguise, In the off chance we meet someone from a humanoid race I don¡¯t want us to be seem got it?¡± ¡°Yep no need to worry.¡± Nodded Keii she once again started to a glow a bit brighter before going invisible, the trio soon started glowing as well before quietly fading away, they then resumed their flight to the outer reach of the forest. It was easy to notice the difference between the inner and outer reach, the first notable one was the trees, that at one point become shorter and shorter till they reach a more normal height then the ridiculously ancient ones situated in the inner reach, the monsters sighting also became less and less the more you headed away from the inner parts of the Forest, the whole atmosphere changed from an Ancient magical Forest to a more ordinary one. Sounds of fighting and shouting could be heard from a certain part of the forest, Suzi then glared towards Simo¡¯s direction before speaking. ¡°Don¡¯t you dare even think about it!¡± ¡°Oh c¡¯mon we are invisible anyways just a quick look.¡± ¡°Absolutely not! Eso help me drag his ass back.¡± She them turned to Eso ¡°Eh? But he¡¯s already gone though?¡± ¡°Wha!? In the name of LIGHT! After him.¡± The trio then soared after him. By the time they caught up Simo¡¯s invisible figure was above a small clearing curiously watching the scene unfolding bellow him. ¡°Simo! What did I say!!¡± Screamed Suzi in a hushed tone. ¡°Shuush!¡± He shushed her while pointing at the fight down bellow. ¡°Are those Humans?¡± Asked Keii ¡°I think that archer is an Elf, I mean look at her ears¡± replied Eso while scratching her head ¡°They really are wingless!¡± Said Simo in obvious amazement. ¡°What? did you think the Elders were lying?¡± Harrumphed Suzi while rolling here eyes ¡°But why are they struggling so much against a cute little bear?¡± At that question all just rolled their eyes while Keii replied ¡°Eso I Think only you can consider that monstrosity cute...¡± ¡°While it¡¯s true it¡¯s anything but cute it can only use a little bit of magic and is a bit big and umm deformed, but aren¡¯t they a bit too weak?¡± ¡°If you were paying any attention to our lessons you would have known that humans and other races are almost all very fragile while their affinity to magic is severely lacking to say the least.¡± Rebuked Suzi. He just shrugged at that ¡°Seeing is believing¡± ¡°Guys, I don¡¯t think they gonna make it.¡± Pointed Keii at the fight bellow that was reaching it¡¯s climax... ******************************** My name is Elena, i¡¯m a B-rank cleric adventurer and a member of the B-rank party the Undying wolves. Our party consists of 5 of us, me our tank Lawrence, Layla the mage Henry the swordsman and Flora our Elf archer. We are not the best out there but we are still considered among the upper ladder of the B-rank with all members of our party being B-rankers themselves. A few of days ago we accepted a request of escorting a herbalist from the capital to the Great Forest, normally none would accept such a suicidal mission, but the request came straight from the King himself and the rewards were more then enough for all of us to retire early and live a comfortable life, as luck may have it no A-rank parties or S-rank adventures were available to accept the request, so we ended up being the ones to take it up. It was supposed to be a simple mission, even though we were going to the Great Forest we weren¡¯t supposed to be venturing anywhere near the Inner Perimeter, just stick with the Herbalist as he looks for some herbs then escort him back... It was supposed to be simple so Why? Why? Why is his headless body laying on the grass? Why is Lawrence missing an Arm? And why in the name of the Lumen¡¯s is that Monster here?!!
