《Devil's System》 Prologue: Am I the Devil ? Did you ever become jealous of someone else''s success ? Cursing them for having what you couldn''t, raging about how they most certainly had cheated to get such a good life compared to yours. Then you would be pleased to know that indeed, some people didn''t climb all the stairs through hardwork. Some people just want to climb the mountain known as society as fast as possible, and that''s when their natures come to the light. Did you ever see someone change to achieve something ? Like a shy boy forcing himself to be brave to ask a girl out, or an athlete become obsessed with victory to such point that they train until their body can''t keep up ? Those are the exemples that would put a smile on your face, making you think '' Oh, if only I could be like that.''. However it would be quite naive to think that everyone changed for the best in the face of difficulty. There are some people out there who became the lowest scums to reach the highest points. And yet, it''s those people who enjoy their lives the most, or atleast that is what you would think. The truth is somewhat different, for those who met the Devil can never go back. Those who dared to strike a deal would see their dreams come true, but at what price ? ************ ( France, Marseille, 3 pm ) Sitting at a table in a chic cafe, a young man sipped on his coffee as he observed his friends talking to each other, keeping him out of whatever conversation they were having. And yet the young man didn''t seem disturbed, he only watched their faces and movements, while calmly drinking. This young man was Joseph Crane, 19 years old, 5''11" ft for 76 Kg. Black hair styled in the most basic razor cut, not a trace of facial hair, almond eyes and a somewhat handsome face. He was dressed in a black suit and had a fake watch on his right hand. Anyone who looked at him would be able to guess that he didn''t care about his appearence except for the most basic of things. His friends were all quite normal, none of them stood out. They seemed quite easy going and energetic, which would explain why Joseph only looked at them while keeping for himself, he seemed to be a rather lazy person. After he finished his coffee, Joseph stood up and left after leaving a few coins on the table. His friends suddenly stopped talking and looked at each other. " Could someone tell me what''s wrong with that dude ? He''s always with us, but never talks to us and just do his own things." While one of his friends was confused about Joseph''s behaviour, the others snickered. " Well Joseph has always been like that. That guy has no ambition, it''s like he''s empty. He''s pretty smart, he''s quite handsome and his family is a bit rich since his father is a renown lawyer, and yet when you look at him it''s like his soul got sucked out." Said the leader of the group, the cool kid. " Well don''t tell anyone I told you, but I heard that his family''s situation is quite bad and that''s why he''s like that. Apparently he was adopted as a child and hid family never warmed up to him. His mother is always too busy to take care of him and his father wouldn''t care even if he died." Said the only girl of the group. After the girl said that, the whole group fell into deep contemplation, as if they were trying to understand the mystery that was Joseph. None of them were aware of how true the girl''s words were. After walking for an hour, Joseph came home and opened the door. He was greeted with nothing but silence, but seemed to be all too used to that. He opened the fridge, grabbed a bottle of soda and immediately went to his room. Or atleast he tried. " Oh, you''re home ? How was your day ?" Asked a cheery voice. Joseph froze and looked to his right, only to come face to face with the insanely pretty face of his step-sister. If one was to describe her, he certainly have to words to, her face was the very definition of perfection, as was her body and her clothes. She looked like she could blind anyone with how beautiful she was. And her smile, oh her smile would be enough to light up the whole world, her beautiful thin cherry lips and her pearly white teeth. This woman who seemed to be only a little older than Joseph was the epitome of beauty, and yet Joseph looked at her with nothing but distrust and suspiscion. Seeing that Joseph wasn''t answering, the woman pouted and playfully hit him in the arm. " So cold, you''re quite the meanie Jospeh. Your step-sister is asking you how your day was, and you look at her like she''s gonna try to eat you !" Joseph only blinked once and slammed the door to her face, nearly broking her nose in the process. He then put on his earphones and procceeded to completely ignore his raging step-sister who was cursing him as mich as she possibly could. And so the hours passed, until Joseph was hit by a wave of tiredness and suddenly fell on the floor. He only stayed awaked for enough time to hear some disturbing words. " A perfect candidate isn''t he ? " " Only time will tell, his sister on the other way....She will be the perfect target." And with that, Joseph fell asleep. He only woke up a day after, not that he was aware of that fact. " Fuck !" Joseph cursed as soon as he woke up, massassing his temples as a huge headache threatened to split his head. He looked down and noticed that his clothes were still on and.... " I slept for a whole day ?! * Sigh* The school is going to annoy the hell out of me now, great." Joseph looked at his window and saw that it was raining heavily outside, ruining his mood even more if that was possible. He could also hear his parents yelling at each other, which was quite surprising since usually they only yelled at him. But he couldn''t care about that after he looked at the little device on his wrist. " An electronic watch ? " The device indeed looked like one, it was all black with a little golden carving that looked like a crow. It was strange , a little bit too strange to Joseph''s tastes. " Why do I even have that on my wrist ? Did Joly play a trick on me ? Wouldn''t be surprising since I slammed the door on her." Joseph looked at the device for a few seconds before he touched it, and nearly yelped after a green screen popped in front of his face. [ Greetings Host. I am the Devil System ] "....." Now Joseph felt like he was crazy, he was hearing some weird robotic voice while looking at a green screen that awfully looked like a game screen. Maybe he was actually still sleeping, yeah that must be it... [ No you are not sleeping, yes I am able to read your mind and no you''re not crazy. Host I am the Devil System, I am similar to a game interface. I can display your status, your quests, your inventory and a shop. Before you ask I am indeed like those systems that Main Characters in mangas, novels and games possess. However I am not sentient, I do not possess a personnality and am much closer to a computer than most systems. ]If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. " You mean to tell me that....Systems are real ? Oh fuck I must really be dreaming. " Said Joseph dropping his head low. [ Host say '' Status'' ] Joseph looked quite confused at that but still did as the system said and froze. As the seconds passed, Joseph was gradually getting more and more excited, a rare smile appearing on his face. A cold smile worthy of being on a villain''s face, but a smile nonetheless. " So it''s freaking real.....Finally something interesting is happening to me." [ Indeed Host, it is real. I will now explain what you are supposed to use me for. As the Devil System I will regularly give you quests that will reward you with points after you complete them. Points that can be used to buy all sort of abilities from the shop. You can see that the only ability displayed on your status is '' Devil Genie''. This ability allows you to grant the wishes of any human desperate enough to ask for the help of a demon. This does not mean that you are a Demon, and while you have the ability to grant wishes you can''t grant every wishes, which means that you''ll often have to manipulate your clients to have them ask for something that you can easily grant. Granting wishes will reward you with points, the number of said points given upon the completion of each deal depending on the value of your client. Said value is decided by ranks, 5 ranks to be more precise: - Lost Soul - Wandering Soul - Chosen Soul - Immortal Soul - Pure Soul Lost Soul being the worst value and Pure being the best. ] Joseph listened to the system while having the expression of a kid who was seeing a mountain of sweet. His eyes were shining so brightly it was kind of creepy, out of all the people who knew Joseph, none would say that such an excited expression on his face was abnormal. " So I am basically the devil who grants wishes in exchange for souls, huh ? Well that''s cool, incredible even, but I have a few questions. Am I the only one with power ? What type of abilites could I possibly gain from the shop ? If some people can have their wishes granted by people with this power, does this mean that the elites of this world all climbed the social ladders like that ?" [ You are not the only one, but you are a special case. You are not a demon and you shouldn''t have the ability to grant wishes, but the one who gave you this ability still allows you to have such a powerful ability, so as I said you are special. As for the abilities.....Anything, you can anything as long as you have the '' Money'' for it. Flying, elemental control, mind control, the power to destroy a galaxy, everything is available. As for your last question, I am not allowed to give you a complete answer, but I can tell you that most elites are not even aware of the existences of supernatural beings.] " Supernatural beings ? So it''s not just demons ? By the way what are the demons like ?" [.....] " Not allowed to answer, right ? Well it''s still cool, so....What do I do ? I mean I don''t even know all this works." [ Host, do you wish to have a life free of all shackles ? Do you wish to travel around the world, meet all sorts of people, have all sorts of thrilling adventures ? ] Joseph seemed quite lost after hearing that. He didn''t know how to answer. He was a person who didn''t like to be in danger, but he dreamt of living exciting adventures. He hated people, but wanted to have the chance to meet someone that he could like, someone who wasn''t as boring as....Well everyone around him. " Who wouldn''t want that ? Not me, that''s for sure. I want another chance at life." [ Then be ready. Your first client will soon summon you. After striking a deal with him, you''ll receive your first quest and a gift from the being who granted you this power. And no I cannot tell you anything about him.] " Cool, oh and since I will have to wait for him/her to summon me, don''t talk until they do. Hearing a robotic voice in my head won''t really sit well with my sanity, or atleast what''s left of it." Having said those words. Joseph went to his wardrobe and chose to wear the only somewhat expensive things he had. After choosing his outfit, he looked like John Wick, minus the facial hair, badass look and gun. Now dressed appropriately, Joseph grabbed his phone and went through all the messages he had received while he was asleep. He didn''t even notice that his parents had just stopped yealling at each other. [ Ding ! New Client: Arno Belmont ] " Wait, wait, wait a second ! It can''t be Arno, I know the guy, he''s the cool kid and the leader of our group of friend if it can be called like that. Why the hell would he ask for the help of a demon ? And also he is a normal person how would he know how to ask for a demon''s help ?! [ He doesn''t know, but he was desperate enough for his soul to make the call. Talking about his soul, it''s a Wandering Soul. If you could strike the deal, it would reward you with quite a lot of point for a beginner like you.] " Hmmm, okay I guess ? But do I need to go on my own ? Aren''t I supposed to be summon-" Joseph''s face lost all it''s colour when he noticed he was standing in a room that wasn''t his own. And a smile graced his face when he noticed the snivelling Arno looking at him like he was seeing a ghost. Joseph didn''t notice it, but Arno wasn''t alone in the room. The only girl of their group, Julia was also there, looking at the both of them as she gasped. " Joseph ?" Asked Arno as he wiped his eyes. " It is indeed me." Answered Joseph calmly. For some reasons he felt like he had the complete control of the situation, as if Arno was a prey and he a predator. [ While granting the wish of a human, you will be in complete control. Nothing can go wrong, or atleast nothing can go to worst. No matter if the client is a president or a serial killer, they will be at your mercy as long as they want their wish granted.] '' My oh my, how interesting'' Thought Joseph as confidence filled him. " What are you doing here ? You just appeared out of nowhere !" Yelled Arno as Julia nodded, they were both quite confused. Julia was even more confused, just a few moments ago Arno was telling her that he had found a way to get his family to accept her, and now Joseph appeared put of thin air. Julia and Arno had become a couple a few months ago, but Arno''s family wouldn''t accept Julia because her father was a criminal and so they distrusted her, something that really tricked her off and was nearly enough of a reason for her to break up with Arno. But today he had come to her, telling her how he had found the perfect solution for their problem, which kinda freaked her out a bit. He seemed a little bit too.....Hopeful. " Do you have a wish that you want to see granted ? Weren''t you asking for someone''s help ?" Arno''s eyes widened to comic proportions as he heard Joseph say that and he suddenly nodded his head furiously. " Yeah that''s it ! Some people told me that if I wanted my wish to be granted, I just had to fill a contract, sign it, and then someone would come to help me !" '' System ?'' [ You are not alone Host, remember that] '' Very well'' Nodding, Joseph then smile at Arno. " Then what is it that you want ?" " I...I want my family to accept Julia as my girlfriend !" Said Arno with hopeful eyes, while Julia looked completely lost. '' Can I do that system ?'' [ No, it would require to hypnotize many humans, something that you can''t do yet. Right now you can only hypnotize one person.] ''...One person you say....And if I hypnotized Arno to make him think that his parents had accepted Julia ?'' Thought Joseph. [ Ding ! Host has been given 100 points for his good thinking.] '' Well then how do I do this ? Do I just have to think about it ?'' [ Exactly host. Think about it and Arno will be hypnotized. The powers that you are given when granting wishes are quite easy to use.] Joseph glanced at Arno while a devilish grin found it''s way pn his face, forcing Julia to take a step back while Arno was too lost in his fantasy to notice it. And so with a simple gesture of his hand, Arno suddenly froze as a dazed look appeared on his face, his eyes losing a bit of their colours. He then woke up and suddenly grabbed Julia''s hands. " Isn''t that great Julia ?! My parents finally accepted you, oh I am so happy, aren''t you Julia ?!" If Julia was lost before, now she was seriously doubting that all this was real. '' So what about her ? '' [ She is nothing but a normal human, she won''t be able to tell anyone about this. Though now that she has seen a deal, the probability of her trying to make a deal with you has been greatly enhanced. Demons often strike deals with their clients in front of others to plant the seed of desire in their hearts, it is a great way to get some clients easily.] '' Magnificient. So I can just leave ?'' Hearing no answer from the system, Joseph was about to ask again, but he suddenly found himself in his room. [ Ding ! A Deal with a Wandering Soul has been made !] [Reward: 1000 points ] [ Ding ! A New Quest has been issued: Make a deal with a client from a different country.] [ Reward: 3000 points ] [ Ding ! A Gift from ???? has been received !] [ New ability unlocked: Devil''s eyes ] " Devil''s eyes ?! What does it do ? Tell me, tell me, tell me !" Joseph truly felt like he was a child at this moment. [ Devil''s Eyes allows the user force his will on a target''s spirit, suppressing them. This will result in the following effects depending on the difference in strengh between the user and the target: Fear, Dominance, Traumatism, Deadly Shock. ] " Well ain''t that an incredible thing ? I really want to test it, but who will be my target." Said Joseph as a voice was suddenly heard from behind his door. " Joseph ! I''ve told you to come down ! Dinner is served ! How many times do I have to call you ?!" "....So Mom it is." Devils Eyes Maria Crane was a woman born in a poor family. She had known nothing but difficulties ever since she had been born. But one day, as if heaven was shining on her, she had met someone who had changed her life. A rich man with a rich family who fell in love with her, after thar encounter her life had become better and better, until her child was born. Joly Crane, the daughter of her husband was something she could be proud of, after all the girl was everything Maria wanted her to be and even more. Maria loved Joly for how perfect she was, and Joly loved Maria for helping her becoming even more perfect. Those two understood each other so well, and that is why they also hated Joseph with such a burning passion. Joseph didn''t get it, and his father most certainly never noticed it, but there was something about that boy that seemed odd. Firstly he had been adopted for no reason, Maria''s Husband already had Joly and didn''t need another child, yet he took Joseph. No one knew who his parents were, even though according to some rumors they were both police officers who had died during a risky mission, and Joseph himself was so strange. He was empty, the very definition of emptiness, and yet at times, his eyes shone so much both Joly and Maria had trouble understanding him. It was like everything around him bored him to death except a few little things that kept him alive, and his father seemed to not care about that. Joly wasn''t jealous of him and Maria didn''t despise him because of how uninterested he was, he was just making them so uncomfortable they didn''t know how to react. And today was no exception, upon coming back home, Maria had been told by Joly that Joseph hadn''t been to school and slept for a whole day. Maria had decided to talk to this to her husband, but he seemed to be in a bad mood and they ended up fighting each other. Fortunately Maria''s husband was a smart man who knew when to stop before it was too late. So he just left and Maria was quite satisfied by it. After she prepared the dinner and called for Jospeh many times but he just wouldn''t answer her calls. " Joseph ! I''ve told you to come down ! Dinner is served ! How many times do I have to call you ?!" After having yelled at her son, Maria sat at the end of the table and waited for Joly to come down, she thought Joseph wouldn''t come down. And yet just after Joly sat in front of her mother, Joseph appeared. He seemed to ooze confidence which in itself was quite strange, but what was even weirder was how he was looking at Maria. As if he was a predator and she a prey. Before she could even talk Maria froze as she met the black and red eyes of her son....Wait black and red ? His eyes had changed colours and as soon as they did, Maria fell to the ground, her body paralyzed as dark thoughts entered her mind. She suddenly felt like she was one second away from dying but it suddenly stopped. Joseph grabbed her and put her on the sofa while smiling at her. " Mom, you should worry a bit more about yourself, you really scared me there. Well Joly should be able to take care of you. Don''t wait for me and eat, I will go outside for a bit." Said Joseph as he quickly left the house. Maria looked at his departing back with something akin to confusion while Joly seemed too shocked to even speak. " Well I must say it''s even better than I thought. With this I can already tell that my life will become much more interesting." [ Indeed but be wary Host. Even though like you thought, Joly and Maria are too weak to act against you and speak of what happened....It doesn''t change the fact that using your powers in front of normal people is dangerous. If too much people see you using your power, you won''t be completely safe.] " Don''t worry system. I don''t care about that, my heart is now filled with the desire to earn more abilities. I have already said that I want to have another chance at life and it also means that I decided to abandon this life. There is nothing worth my attention here.....My quest is to make a deal with someone from another country, right ? Then I can go right now. Nothing is keeping me here." Exclaimed Joseph, excitement clear in his voice. [ Contain yourself Host. You can indeed go now, but you are fated to come back one day, plus disappearing suddenly might get you some unwarranted attention.] " Once again I don''t care. What do I have to lose ? Nothing ! Is there a special country I need to go to for this mission or can I go anywhere ?" [ You can go anywhere you want, but I would heavily recommend going to Asia. Your voice bugged for a second." [ It seems that I am not allowed to reveal more informations.] " Well then I guess to go to Asia.....I think I''ll go to Japan first. I always wanted to visit. I am quite interesting in it''s culture, especially the Shintoism." After deciding to go to Japan, Joseph directly went to the airport, even though he didn''t have any money on himself. However he had a plan, a plan that was sure to work after what happened earlier. Joseph entered the airport and tried to spot an airplane going to Japan, and as though it was his lucky day, one was departing in fifteen minutes. Joseph rushed towards that airplane and arrived in front of the staff members in charge of checking each passengers. Joseph didn''t have a ticket so he couldn''t enter the airplane, or he wouldn''t have been able to if he didn''t have the Devil''s eyes. " I bought a ticket earlier, but someone stole it. Don''t need to check on the list my name is on it, my seat number is 45A, if someone claims that this his seat is his/hers, then it''s the person who stole my ticket." Had anyone heard they would''ve found it to be ridiculous, and yet the staff members nodded, as if it was perfectly normal. '' Like I thought, I can somewhat manipulate the effect of the eyes if it''s on weak targets. Manipulation is actually quite easy, though I still don''t know the Deadly Shock would work. Same for the traumatism.'' Forgetting about those thoughts quickly, Joseph entered the airplane and went for his seat. The airplane was quickly filled with passengers and a man suddenly started to yell. " What do you mean I stole someone''s ticket ?! The seat number 45A is mine! I paid in advance a few days ago, are you kiddng me ?!" The man was then dragged off, while the other passengers looked at Joseph with suspiscious eyes. After all he had appeared in the waiting line suddenly and no one had seen him before, while quite a few people remembered seeing the man paying for his ticket. But a quick use of Devil''s eyes from Joseph made them look down and forget about this matter. And so Joseph was of to Japan. He was a normal student yesterday, and now he was going to Japan to make deals with normal people who had no idea who they were going to call for help. [ Host you have 1100 points, you can visit the shop.] '' Oh yeah I forgot about those. Let''s see how this thing works....Hmmm, so abilities have ranks too and they are called tiers, going from 0 to 10 and then the other tiers are locked. There seems to be passive and active abilities, but the passive seem to cost a lot more than the active ones. Actually those abilities cost a lot. The cheapest ability is trash and cost 500 points.'' [ Host I would recommend buying abilities later, however you should already decide on which ability to buy first] Joseph nodded and so, during the whole trip he went through all the abilities he could. When the plane landed, Joseph had a delirious look in his eyes, he had seen things that nearly drove him crazy. He had seen things that humans weren''t supposed to see. '' One day, one day....I will have all those abilities.....'' Thought Joseph, lost in his little world. [ Have you decided Host ?] '' Huh ? Oh yeah ! I have decided to buy Devil''s Tongue, it allows the user to convince people, manipulate and lie to them better. It can only be used on weaker targets and will be more powerful the less resistant the targets are. With this mixed to my eyes, I will be able to completely manipulate normal people, though it cost 5000 points which is quite a lot. But it''s normal since it is a Tier 3 ability, it''s even better than Devil''s eyes according to the ranking.'' [ Good choice Host. To be able to buy it, you''ll have to make two deals, so prepare yourself.] '' Yeah, yeah I got it. Now I just need to find a place to sleep and-'' Joseph were interrupted as he was a rather unique scene. A man was crying, throwing himself at a richly dressed woman''s feet, seemingly trying to get her to stay, while the woman only sighted and tried to move away from the man''s grip. What actually caught Joseph''s eyes was the fact that the man had that same kind of glint in his eyes that Arno, the glint of desperation. '' Potential client ?'' [ Indeed, though his soul is only a wandering one, still better than lost, but not all that good ] '' And that woman ?'' [ Her soul is a lost one.] '' Wait what ?! The heck you mean it''s a lost one ? She''s clearly rich, she carries herself like she''s some sort of noble and she got a wandering soul at her feet. Why is her soul so poorly ranked ?'' [ Host, the value of a soul isn''t determnied by how successful one is, it is determined by the potential and actions of said person. This woman is clearly the manipulative type, but she doesn''t have anything special to her. She''s rich, beautiful, but in the face of someone with potential, she''s trash. The man is desperate and most certainly went to ridiculous lengths to get this woman, as such his value is a bit higher.] '' Oh....Then what is my current value ?'' [ It cannot be determined. This ability that you were given grant you an unlimited potential, but you''re yet to accomplish anything great.] '' Then I just need to do that, don''t I ? I will accomplish great things, but first I need to progress slowly.'' Having said that Joseph continued to observe the situation and had to sigh when he saw that no one was going to intervene, Japanese were too polite to act in such situation. Joseph could act but he couldn''t help the man, he needed him to become even more desperate, as dark as it sounded. So he just watched, he watched the man get kicked in his privates as the woman walked away while huffing in annoyance. Instead of crying of pain, the man cried of sadness, moaning a name. '' Yukako, so that''s her name huh ?'' Thought Joseph as he smiled widely. He was going to profit from someone else''s pain, but to hell with it. He didn''t care though, he now had an objective, a dream....And when Joseph Crane wanted to do something, he would give his all and will go as far as he would need to. He was slowly becoming a real Demon, but as long as he could become powerful ....The consequences be damned, he would become even the Devil himself ! Can I help you, Mr.CEO ? If one was to say that Joseph was insanely good at being a spy, it wouldn''t even be a stretch. Ever since he was a child, he had always been this one kid who didn''t talk to anyone, had no friends, and yet knew everything about everyone. He was quite good at becoming invisible and concentrate on the voices that would give him informations. As such he had quickly learned that the one who a few minutes ago had been coldly rejected by the haughty woman was actually a CEO. He was the CEO of a company called Kobuchi Electronics, a small company that started to get interesting deals and was sure to becoming a big fish in the future. The man had naturally thought that he was qualified to finally confess his love for the daughter of a politician that he had always loved, but she rejected him instantly. '' Wow, that must''ve hurt more than the kick. I feel for the guy a bit.'' [ This situation is indeed what a human would describe as sad. However it is an opportunity for you.] '' Yeah but I can''t exactly tell the dude to summon a demon to get help. I don''t think a CEO would be desperate enough to summon a demon just because some random bitch rejected him.'' Hearing no reply from the system, Joseph started to think of a way to make sure that the man would summon him, while following said man who was walking in the streets aimlessly. It''s only when they reached the train station that Joseph noticed the little paper that was slightly out of the man''s pocket. '' What''s that ?'' [ A contract to summon ????? ] '' Oh come on ! You can''t even tell me that ?! Ugh.....Well it doesn''t matter, since he got this and I am here he will surely summon me.'' Thought Joseph as he followed the man inside the train and sat behind him. It was fortunate that the man was too lost in his own thought to notice him. After an hour, they arrived in front of a giant building that seemed to belong to the company. The building actually surprised Joseph, but he shrugged it off since he knew that some companies would sacrifice a lot just to have a good image. A giant building was sure to give you some prestige. He couldn''t follow the man inside the building, so he just waited outside, praying for the man to summon him. [ Host, the system forgot to give an information. You can technically manipulate a client and get something out of him/her as long as they don''t know what you are doing. Per exemple you could ask for something in return after granting a wish, even though in your case you are not supposed to. You could also do the same to people who know a lot more by simply pretending to be a demon, since Demons do act for favors. However be cautious, the demons are not exactly the ones who are summoned the most by humans, this paper that the man has....Many people throughout the world possess them, and they are made to summon something much worse than demons.] '' Worse....Hehe, then I''ll just have to ignore them as much as I can. The man only wore some sort of black and white loin cloth that started just below his navel and ended just before his knees. He also had golden bandages that covered the lower halves of his arms and a gigantic black leather sheathe on his back, for some reasons it was empty. He had a somewhat basic if not a bit rough looking face, no beard or mustache and a little scar on the left side of his mouth. Other than that the man had a military cut. The second person''s gender was hard to determine that said person had a rather slender body that was entirely covered. But Joseph still decided to consider the person a man since said person didn''t have breasts, or maybe it was a woman with little breasts, but it didn''t matter. The man wore an outfit that looked like a swat uniform though the whole outfit was white and the helmet didn''t show the face of the person. The man only had a pistol strapped to one thigh and a machete strapped to the other, other than that he looked rather harmless. Though Joseph could see tiny spikes on both of the man''s gloves, so the man had to be a fighter. All in all they both looked more threatening than Mako, but given that she was currently screeching on the floor while her body spasmed, Joseph still decided to trust the two. " Umm, thanks but who are you two ?" Asked Joseph, still quite confused about the whole thing. " We are that bitch''s ennemies. She comes from a clan and we come another clan, both clans hates each other, so we just fight to death once we see people from the other clan. Mako on the other end seemed to have seen it, and her jaw dropped. " You dare to use this on me, Hamagiri ?! " Yelled the enraged woman. Answered the now named Hamagiri with a smug smirk on his face which only seemed to further enrage Mako. Though Joseph didn''t understand what the man said, Mako and Hamagiri seeled to get and it was obviously something bad. They both looked at each other and seemed to come to a slient agreement as they both nodded. The second man sighed and appeared in front of Joseph. He bowed to him before disappearing completely. Joseph looked but couldn''t see him and found out that Mako had also left, only Hamagiri stayed. The man gripped his lost arm and smirked before turning to Joseph. " I am curious about you Joseph Crane. Getting the interest of Shark so quickly is quite surprising. I think I''ll start watching you, maybe you''ll prove to be a good recruit." They were welcomed by the servants and were lead to the diner room, where they would eat dinner with Koichi. Joseph noticed that they all had the same emblem on their cloaks. It was a Toad. '' So the Beasts possibly ? Would make some sense I guess. The Beasts seems to be the Bad Guys, while the colours are the good ones.'' Thought Joseph as he sneakily walked towards the room when he saw that all servants had disappeared after Koichi had told them that he wanted to be left alone. " So you say that the heir of the Oibara will have a birthday party next week ?" Asked Koichi as drank some sake while the figures all nodded. " Indeed, and that''s when I''ll strike. The Oibara will have hired some agents, however they can''t hire powerful ones because the clans have placed restrictions on them. It happens sometimes when a group or a person requires our services too much. The Oibara can only hire weak agents for the party. That or just one somewhat good agent, unfortunately for them I am quite powerful. No matter who they send, I''ll definitely kill both the heir and the Boss. Just hire some goons to take care of everyone else." Said the figures at the same time. It scared Joseph a but but he quickly saw that Koichi too wasn''t entirely used to this. " Great then ! Given that this sword was Joseph''s only real weapon he decides to atleast try to get to know some basis on swordsmanship. Given that he was in Japan he found out that Kendo may be a good thing to learn and so he searched some training methods online. He had been practicing those for the last 6 days and while the results weren''t incredible, it was still enough to make him smile. Atleast now he had the confidence he could cut someone other than himself. " Well.....I guess it''s time to stop now. I should just get to sleep and prepare for tomorrow." Admitted Joseph after he felt that his body just couldn''t continue. He took a quick shower and threw himself on his bed. Remember, no mercy, kill everyone. Especially the heir and the Boss. If you see the hired Agent, let me kill him." He hissed as the 20 soldiers took off. The others him all looked at him as he let out a small snort. " Really hope this is gonna be exciting. I didn''t use a massive illusion field to play with some newbies." And with that, the Toads started to head out for the location of the birthday party, jumping from buildings to buildings. The location itself was a park. The Oibara family had actually decided to host the birthday party in a park. Apparently the heir of the clan was the nature guy, so it was only normal. The park was clearly huge enough, and yet with how much stuff the clan had prepared, the whole park was packed. There were too many guests, too many things to do and.....Too many ways to randomly assassinate someone in that crowd. The police was also there, which was barely surprising given what happened the last time at the Kobuchi tower. Thought the officers were pretty lax. It was a known thing that Yakuzas clans always had the police in their pocket, especially since some of them weren''t all that harmful to society....However the Oibara were different. The Boss had some connections in the government and so, the clan could do basically anything they wanted. Usually they behaved, unfortunately a birthday party wasn''t a place where they were expected to behave. " COME ON !!! DRINK, DRINK !!" Yelled the heir of the clan, shoving a bottle at a cloaked figure. Said figure had the exact same cloak as Toad, except there wasn''t an animal on it. There was only the letter P on the hood. The figure tried to refuse but the heir continued so they grabbed the bottle, opened it and downed it in one go. " Oooh ! That''s the spirit !" Exclaimed the Heir, a cheery smile on his face. The figure merely nodded and navigated through the crowd before reaching one of the numerous guards. " Keep your eyes open, they could come at any time. Also don''t forget to check if any of the guests has some animal emblem on their clothes. If you do see an anime emblem, call me immediately and tell me which animal it is." Said the figure. The guard nodded and the figure once again passed through the crowd, moving easily as if it was walking through the guests. The figure appeared unaware that a certain person dressed to impress was now eating some sushis at the entrance of the park. '' Damn....The Oibara sure are powerful. And there, behind the heir himself was the cloaked figure, looking at the lake in front of it. Just as Joseph''s eyes widened, he saw that the cloaked figure had returned to it''s previous position and was now frantically looking everywhere. The guards were reassuring the guests that thus was all part of the event, which was obviously bullshit but it was better to try save the situation before everyone started to act like frightened rats. Thought Joseph. And indeed he was right. Some guards were fast approaching the father and son duo, and they looked like quite bizarre. Joseph put a hand on the sheath of his sword and runned his finger along the leather surface, wondering whether he should intervene. To him the best would be to have those two agents fight each other and intervene at the end, thus making it easier for him to kill one of them. As such, Joseph quickly made up his mind as his eyes glowed red. " KYAAA !" Suddenly screamed a woman close to the guards. They all turned around and gulped at the same time when they saw the cloaked figure''s gaze on them. '' Ha , it worked just fine.'' Thought Joseph as he picked a sushi from one of the tables and ate it while giggling to himself. The guards were still going for the targets while the figure was trying to follow after them quickly but without scaring the guests. For some reasons the guests reacted to him but not the guards. Under Joseph''s greatly entertained eyes, the guards all jumped on the Boss, stabbing him to death, his son screaming, while the figure suddenly appeared in front of one them, crouching on the ground before he delivered a shattering uppercut with his....Spiky knuckles ? Joseph was greatly taken aback when he saw that 20 heavily armed individuals had appeared all around the park and were shooting everyone. The guards quickly reacted and went to protect the guests while the figure battled against the fake guards. Out of all of that, the creepiest thing was most definitely the fact that none of the people outside the park were reacting. Corpses were dropping to the ground, blood staining the trees while screams resounded all around the park but no one saw it. ''Wait, am I dreaming or did that cake move ?'' Thought Joseph as he saw the huge birthday cake was now closer to the heir. He quickly understood what was going on, as did the figure and they both leaped towards the cake. *Rip* Suddenly the cake was ripped apart and a cream covered Agent Toad appeared, a mini-gun in hands. As the barrel began to rotate, the heir saw his whole life replay before his eyes. Just as the mini-gun started to shoot bullets fast enough to rip a whole body to shred, the heir was pulled on the ground by the figure who got shot in the head. " Wah...What ?!" Yelled the heir, scared to death with tears flowing on his face as the figure dropped on him, three bullet holes in it''s head. Toad was about to shoot at the heir but instead was shot in the fingers and dropped the mini-gun, hissing in pain. " I have a gun too, dumbass." Said Joseph, holding a small pistol he stole from one of the guards. Even though he was acting tough, he knew inside that Toad was too powerful for him. This was quickly proved right when Toad drank some liquid from a smal vial which regenerated his fingers. The man then closed his eyes, clasped both his hands and began to chant something. '' Oh shit !'' Thought Joseph. His reflexes kicked in and he went for a low sweep with his katana. And yet the blade ended up reaching Toad with frightening speed, cutting both his legs. " WHAT THE HELL ?!" Screamed all of the fake guards. They all ran at Joseph and he lifted his katana, ready to take them on. They all jumped on him and so Joseph parried the first two punched that were sent his way, he then dodged a bullet being shot at him, before pulling one of the guards in front of him to get stabbed by a small knife for him. '' Ahh, hell I ain''t gonna survive long '' Thought the young man. He was about to get stabbed in the back by two fake guards but both were shot in the head. Turning around, Joseph saw that the heir had picked his father''s gun and had protected him. Smiling at the slightly older man, Joseph sighed in relief. The heir nodded at him and pointed his gun at the last fake guards. Joseph pointed his katana at Toad and jeered at him. " Thought you were some powerful Agent, but damn...You weak as hell." Just as he said that, Joseph dashed towards Toad. The Heir continued to shoot at the fake guards, killing them but not before getting stabbed in the leg, while both men clashed behind him. Toad also had some knives that he kept between his knuckles, like he had claws. Joseph succeeded in cutting the man''s ear, which earned him a little curse. Joseph was about to jeer at Toad again but the man merely laughed. " Do you know why I am the Toad ? Little hint, Frogs have an interesting way of hunting and not getting hunted." Said the Agent as Joseph gasped. '' P-Poison ?! Damn I can''t get hit by that fucker.'' Thought Joseph angrily. He then got into a basic Kendo stance and glared at Toad. " So you have poison ? As Blanche watched them bowing to her while the helicopter that had sent here departed, she had to urge to kill someone. And it showed on her face. But no one dared to make a comment. Blanche merely passed by the agents and made her way towards a little bar near the beach. All the agents thought she would go to the HQ, a small building located at the center of the island, but they understood why she going to that bar when they saw who was sipping a cocktail there. It was Hamagiri, a happy Hamagiri. " I take it you are quite happy, huh ?" Hissed Blanche with as much venom as she could. Hamagiri froze when he heard her but quickly continued to drink. " Yeah, why wouldn''t I be ? Those twelve scarecrows are going to sleep and so we''ll get some rest for a while. No more contracts.....Ugh fuck, forgot to tell that to Joseph." Murmured Hamagiri, which got Blanche''s attention. " Joseph ? It''s that human who steal our agents work, right ? What is he up to ?" ".....The Oibara and the Suhara are in a conflict. Joseph will try to take advantage of that. Purple and Toad were both hired by each side to attack the other. I truly hope Joseph will gain a lot from that. Since there won''t be any more contracts for a while, he will have to get some clients on his own. It will be better for him to create a group so he can progress faster....Would also help him in the future if he get into trouble but I don''t think he thought about this." Hamagiri immediately looked at the bartender, a teenager girl who looked far more normal than the agents. She smiled sheepishly and offered him another drink. " So.....Another hidden message from our dear Boss ?" Asked the girl in a small voice. "* Gulp * It would be a pain in the ass for her to just talk normally. I guess I''ve gotta try to analyze her words and understand perfectly what she meant, would be bad to do the opposite of what she asked." Said Hamagiri, his face turning slightly red. " Good luck ?" Offered the teen as she saw Hamagiri wobble his way to the HQ. " Luck ? I would''ve died at the hands of our oh so dearly God, had I tried to rely on it." Hissed Hamagiri before he hiccuped and walked away. ************************ ( A certain park in Tokyo, present time ) " You sure you want to continue ? You look like you ran into a bus." Said Purple, moking Toad who indeed looked like he had ran into a bus, a bus with spikes. While Toad could regenerate, it seemed he had reached his limits. His body was soaked in blood, holes littering every little parts of it. Hell he even had a hole where his left eye previously was. Purple had really done a number on him. And while the two agents were battling, Joseph and the Heir had went in a gunfight with the 30 or so soldiers. The rare guests who had survived were hiding behind tables as Joseph and the Heir tried to kill the stubborn soldiers. They were just too heavily equipped and insanely good at their job. Joseph couldn''t even kill half of them even though he had attacked them first while they weren''t even aware of where he was. Now they knew and he was royally screwed. " Purple !!! Get your ass over here !! I don''t want to end up as a target practice for the terminators !" Yelled Joseph. Purple snorted and looked at Toad, a little smile on his face. " Nobody is paying any attention to us, so I guess it''s time to end this farce." He proposed as Toad instantly relaxed and sighed. " Yeah, I got to take care of my kids. And my wife would chew me out if she knew I actually fought with you." He admitted, getting a quick chuckle from the seemingly younger agent. Toad went back to his normal appearence and revealed his scarred face, making Purple wince. " Still getting some new scars ?" " Gotta look like a though guy in front of my girl, don''t you think so ?" " Think so, you might want to check whether he is dead or not later." Said purple. He then threw away his cloak, revealing his usual outfit as he grabbed his pistol and gave it to Joseph. " I''m gonna run directly to them. They will reveal themselves to shoot me. Kill as much as you can and I''ll end the job." Said Purple. " What ?! You''re not fucking Alucard ! You can''t ignore bullets !" Screamed the heir of the Oibara who was laying on the ground, a bleeding little girl in his arms. " I am not....But I can still dodge bullets like a pro, watch me !" Said the feminine looking agent before he jumped over the table and began to run towards the soldiers. Joseph quickly checked how much bullets were in the magazine and got out of his cover. The soldiers instantly appeared and started to shoot at Purple, however he actually dodged the bullet which seemed to annoy the soldiers as they actually decided to go at him with knives, ignoring Joseph. Said man quickly started to shoot them, utterly slaughtering them while the survivors ignore him and got to Purple. The agent jumped over them and ran to one of their deceased colleague, grabbing his rifle. The soldiers looked at each other, confused, before Purple started to shoot and they dashed towards Joseph. The young man steeled his nerves and tried to kill all of them, but missed one who got behind him and put his knife against the young man''s throat. The soldier let out a terrified yelp as Purple appeared right over him and slashed his face, cutting both his eyes. " Damn ! You''re way too fast." Exclaimed Joseph, rubbing his neck and checking if he was bleeding. " I am an Agent afterall, so it''s normal. Now go check for Toad. I''ll finish that dumbass." Said purple, gripping the rifle as Joseph walked away. The young man heard ten succesive shots when he reached Toad. And to his surprise the Agent was still breathing, hardly, but he was breathing. Joseph shook his head, annoyed at the Agent''s stubborness and pointed the gun at his head. " First Agent to die by my hands, how do you feel ?" Asked Joseph in a cold tone. " How....D-Do I feel ? I feel relatively * Cough * happy." Said the Agent, surprising Joseph. But the young man asked nothing else and simply emptied the magazine on Toad''s head. He then walked to Purple, who was checking on the guests after he had called the police. " Crazy day, I am getting used to times like that." Said Joseph looking at all the corpses around him. " Good....It won''t be the last time you''ll se such a thing. This is quite soft compared to what Agent usually do." Said Purple. Joseph chuckled and then looked at the Heir. The brown-haired teenager glanced at Joseph and grinned. He then gripped the hand that Joseph gave him and got on his feet. " My father died, but we avenged him pretty fast. I am pretty happy he died without suffering." Said the heir, obviously trying to his sadness. Joseph just shook his head and helped the heir walk, since he had been shot in his right foot. " By the way, what''s your name ?" Asked Joseph. " Quite late to ask, don''t ya think ? But well...I am Kubo." Said the teenager. " Well I am Joseph, nice to meet you." Said the young man. They both smiled and walked towards the entrance of the park. Out of all the people left, only Purple noticed some black mist leaving the area. '' ....To deploy such a powerful illusion field for something so unimportant......Your life must''ve become quite sad, old friend.'' Thought Purple. He looked at the back of Kubo and Joseph and smiled. He then grabbed his phone as it began to ring and answered. " Funny you''re calling right now, cuz'' I think our friend just started his own group......Huh ? Don''t sound so grumpy, you did the same when you were still a normal human....Well it was indeed different since you were foolishly trying to play the hero, but it''s still the same for me....People who have seen their lives change because of '' IT'' teaming up to take on.....Well the world.....It rings some bells in your mind, right Hamagiri ?" Said Purple. " Go die in a faraway place, Purple." Exclaimed Hamagiri before he hung up. Purple scratched the back of his neck and laughed awkwardly. When he was that the police had arrived with some ambulances, Purple looked at Toad''s corpse one last time and disappeared. A few minuted later, Joseph came along with some police officers and was dumbfounded when he saw that Toad had disappeared too. Both he and Kubo looked at each other, clearly confused before they just shrugged it off, Joseph thinking that Purple had taken the corpse with him, while Kubo just wanted to forget about the man who killed his father. While the guests went to get some help and the police officers checked on the dead soldiers, Kubo got some help for his foot and immediately decided to follow Joseph. He wanted some answers and he was damn gonna get them. ********************** ( In an appartment near the park, at the same time) A woman had been watching the whole thing from the window of the appartment and was practically bouncing up and down in joy. " Finally !!! I found someone like me !" Yelled the woman, before she had to stop herself when she hears some muffled screams behind her. She looked at the whole family she had died and placed on the couch as they looked at her bloody form in fright. " Oh sorry, forgot you were there. Sorry about all this by the way, I needed a place to stay at for a day. It ain''t easy to relax when you''re being chased by some illuminati-like organisation." Said the woman as she looked at the park. She then sat down on the ground and closed her eyes for a bit. When she opened thel again, they were glowing white. She looked at the window once again, except now she could see Kubo and Joseph directly, as if she was just behind them. She could also see their auras, Joseph''s powerful red aura and Kubo''s huge blue aura. " Hm, hmmm....How can I get the two of them to work with me without having them try to kill me because I look like a female version of the joker, not to forget about the fact that I am death convict sought after by ten countries......COOKIES !" Yelled the woman, causing the family to wince as she dashed to the kitchen. The family had to listen to her sing '' This is halloween'' as she prepared some cookies for the rest of the day.
