《Wait? did you say the Demon Lord was a...?》 Prologue: A New Life, Again When he regained consciousness, the first thing he noticed, was the cold. It was like he just stepped out of a warm bath, a viscous liquid coated his body. The warmth contained in the liquid quickly fading, but just when it was becoming uncomfortable, he felt a large tongue lick him, similar to when a dog he knew would. However, this tongue was obviously trying to clean him of the liquid on him. When it was done, he was shifted next to a large warm fleshy wall, his mouth was pressed to a warm bud. As if second nature to him, his mouth opened up, and began to suckle on what was very obviously a tit. Guzzling warm milk, he began to recenter his mind and was able to think coherent thoughts again. ¡®Yes! I was right!¡¯ Daron was elated! After all, he had made a gamble and it had paid off! In his first life, Daron was a nerd and enjoyed pretty much anything fantasy, D&D especially. And so after he died an early death and found himself in a fantasy world, he was delighted! Born a half-elf in his second life, he faced persecution from elves and humans. however he hadn¡¯t cared, after all, he wasn¡¯t the most social in the first place so he was much more interested in the world around him. He decided to become an adventurer, one of the only professions/organizations that didn¡¯t discriminate by race and explored the world. He lived his newfound life to the fullest, traveling from nation to nation, and seeing sights most would never see! He even went into the demon kingdom, as an envoy of the adventurer¡¯s guild. But on his travels, his biggest priority was gathering knowledge of everything he could get his hands on, from magic to martial arts, from alchemy to blacksmithing. Due to that, his skills covered a wide but shallow net and had gained him many friends. After all, people felt closer to those who share their interests, but not as much people who were better than them at it.The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. However, he had a reason he focused on info-gathering over anything else.Daron choose to bank on his reincarnation not being a fluke. His reasoning being, he reincarnated once and as far as he could tell, he didn¡¯t do anything in his first life that would warrant a second chance. So he decided to take a gamble, and prepare for a possible third life. Not that his second life wasn¡¯t enjoyable. the exact opposite, in fact sightseeing was immensely gratifying, he could still remember the overwhelming sense of serenity he felt when he saw the crystal falls or the adoration for nature he felt when he met Yggdrasil. But now in a third life, he wanted to rise to the top! Why? Same reason he played so many MMORPGs in his last life. The process of gaining power was addictive! Many people believe that power is merely a tool to reach goals, but to him, it was a way of life. He decided it was time to stop reminiscing and get back to the world around him. Daron had stopped suckling from the tit, feeling bloated from all the milk he drank. though he had forced himself to drink a little more than he probably should have, after all as a baby more milk equals more nutrients for a growing body. Laying up against the large body of what was most likely his mother, he began to drift off to sleep, deciding that investigating the circumstances of this life could wait until he woke up again. Chapter 1: Did you just say the demon king is a…? When Daron awoke again, he was hungry, but there was a simple solution to that problem. as he began to feed on his mother¡¯s milk, he started analyzing the info he had about his situation.
  1. He¡¯s a mammal, he knows this because he¡¯s drinking his mother¡¯s milk right now, and only mammals produce milk¡ as far as he knows
  2. He¡¯s born from a litter, he knows this because his siblings are insistently squirming around him
  3. Due to his sibling¡¯s squirmings, he also knows his race has fur covering at least most of their bodies
  4. And finally, due to the lack of noises, he¡¯s in someplace that¡¯s separated from what can be considered ¡®outside¡¯ though, from the soil he feels beneath him, it¡¯s most likely some sort of cave or den
Sadly that¡¯s about all he can gather, after all, it seems his race doesn¡¯t have the ability to see from the moment they¡¯re born. So he can do little but wait for now¡ little not nothing, he left this for last on purpose, because he doesn¡¯t even know if what he¡¯s about to do will work. And if it does, he would have most likely have focused solely on this without paying attention to his surroundings, so he decided to finish his observations before he tried this. ¡®Status¡¯ Thinking this to himself, what appeared in the black void of his lack of vision was a blue screen displaying white text
Status Name: Daron Race: Horned rabbit Titles:¡®Other planar¡¯¡®prodigy'' LV: 1/10 XP: 0/10 HP: 1/1 MP:10/10 Def:1 SP:0 Str:1 Vit:1 Agi:1 Int:10
¡®Hello old friend¡¡¯ Daron couldn¡¯t help but hold a sense of nostalgia at seeing such a barren status. By the end of his last life, he had so many titles that the system formed a dropdown for it. And his stats were so clean, the sense of anxiety he got in his last life from seeing uneven numbers was insane. To go quickly over his status, titles are marks of achievements listed by the system and give you some sort of bonus XP can be gained by killing things, or making some sort of major headway in a field, though that¡¯s much slower and harder than just killing some monsters Def is your ability to resist physical attacks and is equal to your vit, without armor or other factors SP or Stat Points are something you get every time you level up and can be assigned to your stats Agi is your agility and affects how fast you can move, and to a much lesser extent how dexterous you areThe author''s narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. Whew! For such a blank status it sure does take a lot of time to explain it, but that about sums it up. Now to look at his status compared to the actual status sheet, the first thing that jumped out at him was race, but he decided to tackle that last as he knew he was going to ramble about it for a while when he got to it. So first up would be his titles, both of which he had in his last life.
Title: Other Planar Grade: N/A Your soul comes from another plane than this one Effects: various
Title: Prodigy Grade: Legendary You developed the mental capacity of at least an adult of your species much earlier than average. Effects: +1 Int per level
¡®Other Planar¡¯¡¯s description is still just as vague as in his last life. The effects he had to find out for himself, and he doesn¡¯t even know if he knows all of them, but the ones he had found out he had given names to for convenience. The first of which was ¡®soul resistance¡¯ that gave him resistance to soul affecting magics. the second is ¡®outside the world¡¯s view¡¯ that makes it impossible for scrying magic to directly target him, though that¡¯s an easy workaround as it can affect pretty much anything he has on him, it¡¯s good for when someone who doesn¡¯t know him, is trying to track him or is trying to find people based on conditions. The third is ¡®fluxous fate¡¯ that made it impossible for divination magic to see his future and the future of people who he interacts with changes constantly. And finally ¡®unlimited potential¡¯ most people have limited potential in a subject, or even in leveling, giving them ridiculous xp requirements to level up their level or skills, but he posses at least average xp requirements in every field. Thinking back to the effects of this title made him chuckle, as he remembered the time a fortune teller attempted to read his fate with tarot cards. The cards flew off the table as if an explosion had occurred, the face she made was hilarious! But ya in total most of its effects are situational, but they¡¯re all extremely powerful. As for why it didn¡¯t list these effects? Then it would have to be because the effects come from his soul not being from this plane, rather than for having the title itself. As for ¡®Prodigy¡¯? While it affects aren¡¯t hidden like ¡®Other planar¡¯ it isn¡¯t like there isn¡¯t anything for him to explain, Prodigy is actually a title that has multiple grades, and the one you get is dependent on how early you get the title with the lower grades giving +1 not every level, but every few levels. The last thing he felt he had to explain further other than his race would have to be the level cap. While humans, elves and other singular species races don¡¯t have a level cap and can level indefinitely, most monsters, and any race that can evolve, has a level cap, and can¡¯t go past it without evolving. Though most monsters don¡¯t ever reach the requirements to evolve, due to talent for most members of those races making so they don¡¯t have any options, even when they hit the cap. Ok¡ all that¡¯s left is race, horned rabbit. He felt like screaming in joy at the thought of being one! That might sound ridiculous, but that¡¯s only because you never lived in his last world. In his last world, horned rabbits were one of the most feared races in all existence, not because they¡¯re strong, but because they seem to break the natural balance of the world. The easiest way to explain it is that regular rabbits breed fast but don¡¯t have a high level of power, dragons are extremely strong but don¡¯t breed often, and so on and so on, each race corners some niche way of surviving. But horned rabbits seem to break that, they have litters of 4-8, breed often, becomes adults fast, and while their power isn¡¯t overwhelming, the average wolf can¡¯t easily kill an adult one, and would choose to hunt something else for their dinner. Because of this, they propagated in vast numbers ravaging the farms of every race, quickly becoming a pest in every country. And not only that, but horned rabbits had an easy evolution option that almost every member of their race could access after meeting the level requirement, the bihorned rabbit, then the trihorned rabbit, etc. This made it so low-level adventurers refused to take on quests to exterminate them because they had no way to know if it was a horned rabbit or a quadhorned rabbit! These problems all snowballed together to make them an apocalyptic disaster that forced all the nations of almost every race to band together to send out armies and heroes to exterminate them once and for all. However, while this may have sounded extreme, most people weren¡¯t directly bothered by this problem, and really? Rabbits are such a large threat? This mindset was what lead to the second horned rabbit disaster, during the first war against them, the higher-ups of the armies and the heroes didn¡¯t care too much. And after getting rid of them near civilization, rather than going in for a killing blow choose to recall their armies, refusing to spend so much money on the rations that would be spent to hunt down each one. Because of this they repopulated and the same happened before, but the countries learned their lesson this time, however, there was a bigger problem they didn¡¯t expect¡ the demon king. The demon ¡®race¡¯ was more of a term for sentient monsters and devils, and ¡®demon lord¡¯ is a title given to a sentient monster or devil who has a large amount of power and influence amongst their kind. When a Demon Lord grows extremely powerful, and gain mass amounts of influence, that title evolves into ¡®demon king¡¯ and almost every demon king in history has caused large wars that rival the scale of WW 1 and 2. This is why it was such a shock when the nine horned king appeared. A novemhorned (nine-horned) rabbit who had become a demon king, with his existence horned rabbits became impossible to exterminate. though luckily, they were able to lower their threat to just a normal pest through constant effort. And luckily the nine horned king wasn¡¯t as war-crazed as his predecessors. Due to this Daron even had a chance to meet him as the ambassador for the adventurer¡¯s guild. Which is why he knew that he could make the most of this life. Chapter 2: It’s Magic Time! Daron was coming down off of the high the excitement from being a horned rabbit gave him. Detaching himself from his mother¡¯s tit he evened his breathing, he needed to slow down. Right now he was still a baby horned rabbit, with a challenge rating of F- the lowest rating with the scale going F all the way up to SSS with +/- given to augment races within the same letter grade. Having calmed himself, he decided to start by checking the description for horned rabbit.
Race: Horned Rabbit Grade: F- A herbivorous race that eats mostly weeds and root vegetables. The horned rabbit is known mostly for its horn attacks, that can be troublesome if underestimated.
He didn¡¯t learn anything new from it, but it was better to be safe than sorry. And with that, he had officially gone through everything he could go over in his status. Although that wasn¡¯t the only window he could open, the other would be... ¡®Abilities¡¯
Abilities Skills [Passive] N/A [Active] Horn attack (LV.1) Magic N/A Resistances N/A
Ok let¡¯s start with the explanations again, don¡¯t worry it¡¯ll be short this time. Skillsare what skills you have Magic is a list of all the Schools of magic you know. And finally, resistances are percentile reductions to types of damage, such as fire, slashing, or falling and while that might sound overpowered, it¡¯s incredibly hard to gain. The exception to this being gifted it temporarily by a spell or equipment, and those rarely stack together with others from the same source, making it hard to get a high amount through them. Ya see, pretty short, right? All that¡¯s left is horn attack, and while he didn¡¯t know exactly what that did, it wasn''t hard to guess.
Skill (Active) Horn Attack (LV.1) Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. An enhanced attack using your horn Effects: deal 110% piercing damage Cost: N/A Cooldown: 30 sec.
A quite the basic skill, but very applicable. But now that he had finished going over his status and abilities, he was done checking the system. Seeing how identical it was to his second life, that meant there was a decent chance he was in the same world, but if he was how much time had passed? That is a question that could only be answered with time I guess. Now he really only had one thing he could do while waiting for his body to mature, and that was to practice magic. He moved his body to a comfortable position, in what he could now assume is a rabbit burrow, and began to do a focused form of meditation. The first thing to do when wanting to learn magic is to sense the mana in the air, this is much easier when you have a large source of mana, such as a magic item or a spellcaster. In some cases, you can even use yourself, but it¡¯s better to try and sense the mana in the air if you don¡¯t have a lot. Considering he was level 1, the best way was the standard way. Letting go of his body he focused his mind on trying to sense the world outside of himself, without using his sense of touch. After a minute or two, he began to feel the mana in the air. Without the mana detection skill, the mana seemed like a mass of fluid metal filling every inch of everything. *Ding* He slipped out of his meditative state when he heard a *Ding*, that symbolized that he got a notification from the system, and looked at the message.
You have acquired the passive skill ¡®Mana Detection¡¯
A short but sweet message that only told him the bare minimum, but it didn¡¯t need to as bringing up the description of mana detection said it all
Skill (Passive) Mana Detection (LV.1) When you enter a meditative state you can sense the mana around you Effect: increases your ability to detect and differentiate the mana within range
At first glance, this skill might seem useless other than to first learn magic, because you have to meditate to use it, but this skill is very important even after you learn magic. The reason you would want to keep training it even after you learn magic is that, when you get this skill to level 10 you can advance it into a skill that does so even when not meditating. Thus allowing you to be rarely caught unawares, except by skilled casters or rouges, making the biggest weakness of the caster a lot less dangerous. However, that was for the future. Right now, he wanted to learn magic, therefore he continued with the next step. Entering the meditative state again he looked inwards finding the mana within himself, said mana was sloshing around within himself, no rhyme or reason to its pattern. When he tried to move it he found he couldn¡¯t. He was disappointed at himself, while he wasn¡¯t the best at casting magic, he expected to at least be able to manipulate his mana on the first try, even without the skill. But sighing, he went to work trying to move the mana, this time instead of trying to brute force it, he attempted to quicken or slow the currents of mana within himself. and was able to do it this time. *Ding* He paid no attention to the notification this time and concentrated on practicing. Daron only stopped when he could slowly move the mana as he wanted, even without relying on using the existing currents within his body. The other reason he stopped was that his stomach was screaming at him to drink more milk, so as he began drinking milk he checked his notifications.
You have acquired the passive skill ¡®Mana Manipulation¡¯
Your skill ¡®Mana Manipulation¡¯ has leveled up to LV.2
Your skill ¡®Mana Manipulation¡¯ has leveled up to LV.3
Skill (Passive) Mana Manipulation (LV.3) You are able to manipulate the mana within you Effect: increases your ability to manipulate the mana within you
There wasn¡¯t much to see from the notifications or the descriptions. Yet just like ¡®Mana Detection¡¯ this skill was important to train because, when your mana manipulation was low, there would be a delay in the speed of your spell casting, due to the time it would take to move the mana. and while this wouldn¡¯t be a problem once it got to level 5 or so, it would be easier to learn higher-level magic the higher level this skill was. Luckily it can be trained along with Mana Detection when your intelligence gets a bit higher, so there isn¡¯t a reason not to do so. He wasn¡¯t sure how long it had been since he had woken up but after drinking his fill he was getting mighty tired. So it seemed ¡®today¡¯ was over, and he would have to learn real magic tomorrow. Chapter 3: It’s Magic Time! For real! kinda... Waking up once more, he got his fill of breakfast and got to work practicing magic again. Now that he could sense and manipulate mana, it was time to form a Dantian. It might seem strange for an Eastern term to appear in a western fantasy setting, but that was the name for the core of mana he was about to form in his body. As for why it¡¯s not called a mana core? That¡¯s because a mana core is the name for a physical orb of mana formed in the bodies of most magical monsters. So to explain, a Dantian is a ball of ethereal mana that spellcasters form in their bodies, to more easily access their mana when casting spells, and while not strictly needed for magic, it¡¯s way too convenient to truly be considered ¡®optional¡¯. So he began to gather a bit of his mana in his small stubby horn on his head. While most spellcasters form their Dantian in their hearts or heads because if the area with your Dantian is destroyed then you have to form a new one, and your mana would instantly fall to 0. As for why he was forming it in his horn? Well to explain that he needs to explain one more thing he hadn¡¯t mentioned earlier about horned rabbits. They are incredibly adaptive to mana, and when a horned rabbit lives in an area with lots of one type of mana or learns to cast a type of magic, they can evolve into an elemental counterpart of their race. And while that''s not directly relevant to why he¡¯s forming his Dantian in his horn, he thought it was a good time to mention it. The real reason he¡¯s forming it in his horn is because of what the nine horned king said. When talking with the nine horned king, the subject of how he got his power emerged. Other than just leveling up or practicing, he mentioned the main reason was because of his ¡®elemental horns¡¯, to put it simply each of his horns was a mana core of a different element, giving him a large boost to the power of his spells. And while it¡¯s too early to make his horn into a mana horn, forming his Dantian in there would probably make it easier than if he hadn¡¯t, So he pulled mana into his horn. However, he ran into a problem, he had too much mana! To form a Dantian, you need to gather all the mana in your body. Consequently, the more mana you have, the more you need to gather to form your Dantian. To make matters worse, the difficulty of controlling mana scales the more you try to control, rather than it becoming harder just because you¡¯re controlling more. This was probably the reason it was so hard for him to try and manipulate his mana. however, there¡¯s a simple fix to the problem. Time, he didn¡¯t have anything else to do, so even if he spent a while doing it, taking the time to do so wasn¡¯t really a big problem. By the time ¡®dinner¡¯ came around, he was able to form his Dantian. And for his troubles, he gained these notifications
Your skill ¡®Mana Manipulation¡¯ has leveled up to LV.4
For forming a Dantian, you have gained the title ¡®spellcaster¡¯
And he quickly checked the title ¡®spellcaster¡¯.
Title SpellCaster Grade: Uncommon You are skilled in the use of Magic Effects: your base MP is Int*10 rather than Int*1
Ya powerful right? With that kind of effect, it should have a much higher grade. But due to its ease to get, it¡¯s one of the few titles that doesn¡¯t have its effects scale with its grade. Just to clarify, you can also get this title from learning any school of magic as well. As for the effects of a *10 increase in my mana? Well, all my mana was already contained to a Dantian, so nothing. Not even the Dantian changed, as it¡¯s size doesn¡¯t scale with the amount of mana within. The next ¡®day¡¯ after ¡®breakfast¡¯, he could finally finally begin to learn a school of magic. The first was a school of magic 99% of spell casters would learn ¡®Mana Magic¡¯. Mana magic is essentially the neutral school of magic and has very few spells. However, it would increase the power of all spells you cast, so most at least learn it, even if it levels slowly without practice. Because he didn¡¯t want to affect his siblings or mother, he decided to use the most garbage spell of the ¡®mana magic¡¯ school, as unlike all other magic schools, you couldn¡¯t learn it by tuning yourself to the element, which is how you learn all the elemental schools. The spell was ¡®Body Enhancement¡¯, at first glance it seems like a good spell. A continuous spell that gives you an enhancement to your body, but the cost is abysmal. You know what! I¡¯ll just use it, then let you decide how good it is! *Ding*
You have gained the Spell ¡®Body Enhancement¡¯
You have learned the ¡®Mana¡¯ school of magic
Your level has increased to level 2
Oh? He didn¡¯t keep track of his XP so he didn¡¯t expect to level up so soon, but it made sense. The skills he had been learning were core skills for casting magic, so he probably got a few XP, and learning the ¡®Mana¡¯ school of magic pushed him over the edge, but he could check that out later. For now, he brought up the description of ¡®Body Enhancement¡¯ Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
Spell Body Enhancement (LV.1) School: Mana Using this spell you enhance your body Effect: gain +X% Str, Def, Agi Cost: [X%/per sec.] Mana
In case the description didn¡¯t clarify, that meant if you wanted to increase your stats by +1% then you could use up all your mana to keep it up for 100 seconds or if you wanted an enhancement of +10% then you could keep it up for 10 seconds. Ok, it wasn¡¯t as bad as he made it sound. For a mage, it could be a last resort to dodge or block an attack however, another ¡®Mana¡¯ spell, ¡®Shield¡¯ would be much better at protecting you. Moreover, the biggest reason that this is a bad spell is because for any class that might benefit from this spell they probably had some way to use their mana better or a better version of this spell as a skill. The only real benefit was that it didn¡¯t show any trace of being used, thus why he chose it. But with that out of the way, he still needed to check his status after leveling up
Status Name: Daron Race: Horned rabbit Titles: ¡®Other planer¡¯ ¡®prodigy'' + ¡®spellcaster¡¯ LV: 1 > 2/10 XP: 0/10 > 12/10 > 2/20 HP: 1/1 > 2/2 MP:10/10 > 119/120 Def:1 > 2 SP:0 > 2 Str:1 > 2 Vit:1 > 2 Agi:1 > 3 Int:10 > 12
So to sum up what changed he gained the spellcaster title, making his MP much larger than before, and his everything went up a bit, but it was a bit of a let down that Horned Rabbits only gained 2 SP. However, that would probably not be a big problem, as he would evolve at level 10. But now with 2 stat points to invest in his stats, this brought up the question. How should he assign his stats? To answer that question he had to decide what his ¡®build¡¯ is going to be. A pure spell caster? Or a pure front liner? Well, the answer is neither. The obvious answer was a hybrid of them, but the real question is what kind? How would he use his magic, defensively or offensively? How would he deal with damage blocking, or dodging? He had already decided. For now, the stat he would invest most in was Str and Int, then Agi, with Vit getting the least attention. This was because the horned rabbit had higher agility, so dodging would be easier than blocking. And he would go for a more ¡®magic swordsman¡¯ type build so both Str and Int would be important. Acting on my thoughts I invested 1 in Str and Int, with my stats now being.
Status Name: Daron Race: Horned rabbit Titles:¡®Other planer¡¯¡®prodigy''+¡®spellcaster¡¯ LV: 2/10 XP: 2/20 HP: 2/2 MP: 120/120 > 130/130 Def: 2 SP: 2 > 0 Str: 2 > 3 Vit: 2 Agi: 3 Int: 12 > 13
And now to look at his updated abilities.
Abilities Skills [Passive] +Mana Detection (LV.1) +Mana Manipulation (LV.4) [Active] Horn attack (LV.1) Magic +Mana (LV.1) Resistances N/A
Finally, having gained a spell, he gained the ability to pull up his spells
Spells [Mana] +Body enhancement (LV.1)
Now he could finally finally for real, learn useful magic. As for what schools of magic he planned to learn. Long term? All of them (Probably). But to try and master all schools of magic at once was foolhardy, he would need to spend his time cultivating 1-2 maybe 3 at most if he wanted to keep proficient in them enough for them to be useful in fights with others at his level. And the first one he chose to learn was a pretty common magic, Fire. But the reason it¡¯s so common is because of its destructive power. And come on, who hasn¡¯t dreamed of creating magical fireballs and chucking them at monsters? Not to mention, it was also one of the components for a fusion magic he wanted to make... oh yea, he almost forgot, fusion magics are schools of magic formed from fusing 2 or more schools of magic, on a related note, advanced magic is schools of magic that are derived from another school of magic. To learn the magic, he had to first sense the element, and there are many ways to do so. But considering his circumstances, the one most suited for it would be the way he learned from the druids. As it turns out druids aren¡¯t opposed to fire, just stupid humans who needlessly burn down forests. But to get back on track, he began sinking into himself, not unlike when he tried to sense own his mana. However this time, he wasn¡¯t looking for his own mana. He was trying to feel his body heat, but an unexpected variable came up. The heat from his siblings and mother clouded his own, mixing them all together with their own. But this wasn¡¯t a bad thing, as a stronger source made the process easier. Slowly he began to feel it, like a wave of heat traveling along their bodies, originating from all of the organs working and moving, especially the stomach. It traveled with the blood throughout their bodies, diffusing evenly to the rest of their bodies, and into each other. The way it pulsated was reminiscent of a flickering flame, he had felt it... the fire mana within himself, and his family, then... *Ding* But before getting to the notification, to quickly explain, the mana he felt was what¡¯s known as ¡®static mana¡¯. Unlike the world he first lived in, this life and the one before, the world was made up of mana, not atoms. To give an example, instead of carbon, his flesh is made of an advanced version of earth mana, that¡¯s called ¡®flesh mana¡¯. Furthermore said ¡®static mana¡¯ can¡¯t be used for spellcasting without being processed. But anyway the notification and description he received were.
You have learned the ¡®Fire¡¯ school of magic
Magic Fire (Lv.1) Tier: 1 Fire magic is the school of magic that wields fire and fire mana Effects: +1% damage from fire spells, -1% cost of fire spells
Man, He felt like an idiot, as he kept forgetting things! Magic is split into Tiers, the higher the Tier the stronger, and most ¡®basic¡¯ magic will start at 1, advancing into higher ones later, such as fire to flame magic or earth to stone magic and so on. I¡¯ll also pull up ¡®mana magic¡¯''s description as, in my disappointment of ¡®body enhancement¡¯, I forgot to put it there.
Magic Mana (Lv.1) Tier: N/A Mana magic is the school of magic that wields mana Effects: +1% damage from mana spells, -1% cost of mana Spells
Yeah, mana spells are all spells, so it also levels whenever you cast a spell. But even if it affects other spells, it gathers XP much slower when it¡¯s a spell that uses another school of magic. And with this, he had finally learned a real school of magic, not that he¡¯ll learn any spells for it for now. Chapter 4: Forests are Boaring Fire magic was way too destructive for him to learn any of its spells right now, so he decided to learn his second school of magic, and probably the only one he would learn for the foreseeable future, Darkness. While darkness might seem evil and is considered such to an extent due to the high-affinity many Devil¡¯s have to it, there wasn¡¯t anything innately evil about it. In fact Darkness magic is mainly support magic, focusing on CCs (crowd control), with less direct attack spells. So he began sensing the darkness around him. As he was in a rabbit burrow, the lack of light made it quite easy and it wasn¡¯t long before the inky shadows around him felt alive, creepily crawling along his fur, gently stroking it, as if to threaten that it could pierce it at any moment. He shivered a moment. But his mother, most likely assuming that he was cold, snuggled him a bit closer to her, and that creeping dread welling up inside him, instantly disappeared. *Ding*
You have learned the ¡®Shadow¡¯ school of magic
Oh yeah it¡¯s called Shadow magic at the first tier, but most people refer to it as darkness magic when talking about the element
Magic Shadow (Lv.1) Tier: 1 Shadow magic is the school of magic that wields Shadows and Shadow mana Effects: +1% damage from Shadow spells, -1% cost of Shadow Spells
And just like fire, he couldn¡¯t use any spells from the shadow school of magic right now. Which means I really am truly out of new things to do until I grow up a bit more. And until then, I¡¯ll probably just focus on increasing myMana manipulation and detection. ___________ It had been a month since I had come to this world, and just as much as things had changed, they hadn¡¯t. For most of the month, he had spent his time in his family¡¯s warren either sleeping or playing with his siblings, though that was more of them playing with him, as he was focused on training his skills and the only worthwhile spell he had learned in the month DarkSight that, just like its name, gave him the ability to see in the dark. On the plus side, as he matured, his stats other than Int were raised by 1. And after becoming an adolescent in his species, his Vit to HP ratio increased from 1 = 1 up to 1 = 5, Shadow magic had also leveled up. However, he didn¡¯t spend all of his time in the warren. Sometime in the month, he had been allowed, with his siblings, outside the warren. That¡¯s when he discovered they were a lone family of horned rabbits. However, the lack of a father meant it was just him, his mother, and his siblings. The outside world was a forest, with large (for him) trees and dense foliage covering the ground, with a small covered hole into the ground serving as an entrance to his home. He had also gotten his first taste of plant matter, and he gave it a 6/10, not the best, but fine for his day to day meals, with a wild root vegetable as a rare treat. He had learned foraging in his last life, so he knew what to look for to find them, and they tasted a fair bit better than the random weed. Sadly, as nice as it has been, it was time for him to leave. Now that he moved away from breastfeeding, and had started to enter his adolescence, he felt he didn¡¯t have a reason not to. While it would probably be best to stay until he became an adult, gaining the benefits from aging and having more time to practice his magic, rabbits didn¡¯t live long¡ at least he thinks. He needed to evolve if he wanted to extend his lifespan, and it would be much easier to increase the level of his magic if he could use it in combat. So he felt it was time to set out into the forest his family called home. His departure was uneventful he left while his siblings were playing outside the warren and his mother, who was watching them, probably didn¡¯t think he would go far. It saddened his heart a bit to think that his mother and siblings would miss him, that his mother might search for him. In fact, it made him second guess himself for a moment, thinking that maybe he could just sneak off into the woods to hunt and practice magic like he was now. But in the end, he stayed firm. After all, it would only cause them trouble if he started hunting in the area. Humans or predators could trace it back to him and kill him and his family, for one reason or another. So he set out into the forest, never to see his family again. Most of the forest was the same, tall trees and thick underbrush. But eventually, he found a small trickling stream and took a drink. his short trek through the forest parching his throat, and for the first time saw his body. He had already guessed this from looking at his paws, but his coat was a darkish brown, reminding him of the hair he had in his first life. he also had large ears and eyes that contrasted his small head giving an adorable appearance, that drove many girls to desire rabbits as pets. As he was inspecting his body he heard a bush shaking on the other side of the stream and what emerged was a large boar with long tusks and dense fur covering most of its body, except its back that was covered in a craggy stone carapace running up to the top of its skull. The boar didn¡¯t notice him at first and went up to the stream to take a drink of water. Daron decided to take this chance to sneak back into the foliage and use identify on the big boy (is it? probably...).

Ah, he didn¡¯t know the identify skill, so all he got was a name. Even without the help of the system, he could assume a few things just by looking at it.
  1. It¡¯s a creature with a back made of stone, so Vit is probably its highest stat, he¡¯d even wager that Str is its second-highest stat
  2. It probably has a passive skill giving it extra Def, and just like his horn attack, probably has some sort of tusk attack skill
  3. It probably can¡¯t turn well with a stiff stone back.
*Ding* As he went over these 3 things in his head, he heard the ding of a notification, so he quickly pulled it up, the boar almost done drinking its fill.
Due to expertly analyzing the characteristics of an enemy, you have gained the skill ¡®Identify¡¯
Perfect timing, using it on the ¡®Stoneback Boar¡¯ he got the following results.
Monster Race: Stoneback Boar Grade: E- LV.3-6 Strongest Stat: Vit Lowest Stat: Agi Strengths: strong Def Weakness: cannot make quick turns (manually observed)
Amazing! To think he would meet a perfect first enemy for his first fight! he was so elated he let out an adorable squeal of delight. With a snap, the boar¡¯s head shot up to meet his gaze. The Boar¡¯s eyes widened and,- *Oink!!!* -With a warcry, charged right at him fury in its eyes. Note to self, Stoneback boars are prone to violence. As the boar charged at him, he ran to the side. The boar was forced to make a wide turn, digging its feet into the soft topsoil of the forest to fight Its momentum. He guessed the adult boar was about equal to him in agility. Along with its inability to turn, he doubted it would get a hit on him, especially as he wasn¡¯t planning on getting close to it. Getting into close range at his level, or rather with his race, would have been suicidal. However, unlike the boar, he didn¡¯t have to get close to attack. Focusing the mana in his Dantin to the tip of his horn, he changed it to fire mana and constructed the easiest spell of the fire school of magic, FireBolt. Just as the name would suggest a bolt of flames emerged from his horn, quickly blasting into the boar¡¯s flank, *Wee! Wee!* Letting out a pained cry, the boar closed its eyes for a moment from the pain but opening them less than a moment later, now with even more anger. It charged at him again, unlike last time though, a slight trail of light was left in its wake, as it charged at him faster than before. It was most likely using a skill of some sort. Luckily for him, the boar was quite stupid. If it had pulled this out mid charge, then Daron might not have been able to compensate. But with the boar having used it immediately, Daron was able to evade it easily. And while the boar shot past him, he launched another FireBolt at the boar. The Stoneback boar, now seeming to realize it wouldn¡¯t win, tried to run. Sadly running away wasn¡¯t the boar¡¯s forte, and having already used its charge skill, Daron was able to keep up with it for the short while it took for his repeated FireBolts to kill it. Taking a moment to collect his breath, he checked his status.

Identifyis one of the most basic core skills in every person¡¯s skillset, so much so, that it¡¯s harder to find an adult that didn¡¯t have identify, but nonetheless, it¡¯s an OP skill. While on the other hand, ¡®FireBolt¡¯ didn¡¯t list an exact damage, same as all other damage spells, but instead used a word like ¡°minimal¡± to describe the damage. A spellcaster would have to use each spell to see where it would rank within that grey area, as for the damage of the FireBolts he was using? With his int, he guessed it would be somewhere around 7-10 when he first used it, but probably on the 3rdish casting, it seemed to level up and would have done roughly 10-15 damage. That combined with the fact the boar was probably not fully grown, and that magic ignores some Def, and it leads to only needing 5 attacks to kill it, earning him his first kill in this world. But looking down at the burnt boar, he felt a bit awkward. After all, Horned rabbits are herbivorous, and it¡¯s not like he had the tools or hands to collect the hide, not that he could carry or use it anyways. So his only choice was to leave it here, and while he wouldn¡¯t feel bad about wasting the meat, as another animal would come by and eat it. eat it, what did bother him was that the scent of cooked flesh might draw another animal. Any animals who would go towards the scent of a dead animal were either scavengers, desperate, or a powerful predator. While he might be powerful for his level he was still an F- ranked monster, so most of the things in this forest could probably kill him. With that thought in mind, he unhesitantly left the boar there and fled the scene at once. Not heading back to the stream where he found the boar, but rather Daron continued on in the forest looking for a place to settle down. The conditions for such being that most of the monsters in the area were of a low level and that it would be able to conceal him when he slept. However, it would probably take time to find one like that and he couldn¡¯t just make one¡ He just remembered he¡¯s a rabbit, he can just dig one... Chapter 5: Knife to meet you… Knife to meet you… Knife to- Daron had a big problem¡ He was hiding in the temporary burrow he built, having collapsed the entrance. He would occasionally dig it back out to get fresh air, but other than that he couldn¡¯t leave. With all the plants in the area right outside of his entrance having already been eaten. he couldn¡¯t get any more food, putting him in a tight spot, but he had a plan. But if you wanted to understand what was going on, you had to rewind to a few days ago¡ After roaming in the forest for a few days looking for the right place to settle down, he had decided to dig a small temporary burrow to use as a base when searching around, he even gained a burrowing skill. However, one day he finally met an enemy he could kill.
Monster Race: Quick Venom Spider Grade: E LV.5-10 Strongest Stat: Agi Lowest Stat: Vit Strengths: Fast-acting venom Weakness: Low HP
While this monster might seem like the exact opposite of his preferred enemy, slow with high Def, that he can kill with magic from a distance. Magic, however, is a very versatile subject and after spending these past few days, spending his mana on nothing but training his ¡®NightSight¡¯ spell, leveling it to LV.5, he had pushed Shadow magic to (LV.3), with that level, he now had access to spells a bit stronger than the most basic ones. So he acted on his decision, and opened with the spell that gave him the confidence to smash this bug! Channeling mana to the tip of his horn, and converting it into shadow mana, he casted a deteriorated version of the high-level spell ¡®Swamp of Shadows¡¯, called ¡®Puddle of Shadows¡¯. However, this spell required a verbal component, meaning he had to speak the evocation to cast it, and while there wasn¡¯t a requirement on what language you spoke it in, or even needing to use a language, he had to let out a squeal alerting the spider to his presence. The spider, seeing a delicious horned rabbit revealing itself to it, dashed at him. However, it found itself unable to move as the ground right below it had turned inky black as if someone had replaced the dirt with... well, ink. The gooey liquid stuck to its thin legs, in this case, its normally nimble legs working against it not having the Str to pull them free. Daron, seeing his plan work, began to play just a bit with the spider. Taking this time to cast two new spells, ¡®ArcaneBolt¡¯ and ¡®ShadowBolt¡¯. As you might guess they were the mana, and shadow equivalent of ¡®FireBolt¡¯ and did mostly the same thing, just with different damage types. Other than using them once, he only used ¡®FireBolt¡¯ to kill the spider. Maybe because it was a higher level, or because it was fully grown unlike the boar, but despite its weakness being a low HP, it still took more Bolts to kill the spider then it had to kill the Boar. Nodding his head at the kill, he started to head back to his temporary home as he checked his status. He was sure that this last kill had pushed him to the next level.

Most of this was expected, as he had just leveled up. however, the ¡®OverAchiever¡¯ Title was a welcomed surprise, and he brought it up
Title: OverAchiever Grade: Rare You are able to battle opponents Stronger than you Effects: +1 to lowest stat per 5 Levels
Ya, this is an amazing title, however, it¡¯s a hard one to get. If he remembered correctly (and he almost certainly did) then you had to defeat an opponent that had a level advantage over you, depending on what your level is, with the condition that you didn¡¯t have a grade higher than them. But if you wanted to get the more potent versions, than you needed to defeat ones with higher grades than yourself. For instance, as he was below LV.10, he only needed to defeat someone with a level higher than +5 of his, and of grade F- or higher. But the spider was grade E and was at least level 7, so he met the requirements for the rare version of the title, rather than the standard uncommon version. While this was an unexpected windfall, it didn¡¯t change much about his current or future plans, as there were very few high-grade monsters with low levels. So if he wants to set off to get the higher grade version of this title, he would need to level up some more. And thus he continued home, however that was when tragedy befell him. Getting near the entrance to his home, he heard the pitter-patter of a small creature scampering in the underbrush. thinking this was another chance to get some XP, however small, he snuck after it. And when he saw a metallic gleam, he launched an ArcaneBolt at it, not wanting to catch the bush it was in on fire. *Squeeeeek!* He heard a long high pitched squeak of a mouse from the creature that petered off as it died. and when he went to investigate what creature it was he had just killed, he was filled with dread when he saw what it was. What he saw in the bush was a brown mouse, with a disproportionately large knife blade on the end of its tail. Even without identifying it, he knew exactly what monster this was, a ¡®Knife-tailed Rat¡¯.
Monster Race: ¡®Knife-tailed Rat¡¯ Grade: N/A LV.0 Strongest Stat: Agi Lowest Stat: Vit Strengths: Roams in large packs Weakness: Low individual strength
The ¡®Knife-tailed Rat¡¯ was one of the few level 0 monsters. Level 0 was usually given to nonpoisonous bugs, that posed no risk at all, not only would they have no grade, but they would only net 1 XP from being killed. However, most level 0s wouldn¡¯t even be given the descriptor ¡®monster¡¯. The Knife-tailed Rat, however, was given one because of the large packs they roamed in. Even not considering that they were known for being quite vicious, being given the name rat despite being a mouse. The reason for such was that they would attack endlessly anyone who killed any member of their species, and he had just done so. His small Rabbit heart pounding in his chest, he booked it back to his burrow. Just as he got outside his home, he heard the sound of many high-pitched squeaks in the distance. He could only hope they didn¡¯t find any trace of him, after which they would kill everything in the area before calming down. If they did find his trace, then they would be looking for any rabbits without rest. Regardless, he collapsed the entrance of his burrow, after grabbing a few weeds to serve as rations. Sitting in the darkness, he could only rely on his hearing to determine if there were rats above his den or not. And now a few days later and we have returned to his current situation, he had gone out to grab food a few times when he thought there hadn¡¯t been any rats above, and luckily he wasn¡¯t caught. On the bright side though, he leveled up both Darksight and Mana Detection, while also gaining a new skill called Enhanced Hearing. It was at this moment he realized he hadn¡¯t shown the description for Darksight, Puddle of Shadows, or Burrowing. so he decided to bring them up, along with Enhanced Hearing.
Spell Darksight (LV.6) School: Shadow Using this spell you enhance your ability to see in the dark Effect: Allows you to see 60% of your vision in darkness as if it were bright, and the rest as if it was dim Cost: 3 Mana/Sec.
Spell Puddle of Shadows (LV.1) School: Shadow Using this spell you crate a puddle of shadows beneath your target impairing their ability to move Effect: Changes terrain in a 5ft area to a puddle of shadows Duration: X*5 Sec. Cost: X*10 Mana
Skill (Passive) Burrow (LV.1) You are able to burrow through the ground with skill Effect: Increases the speed at which you can burrow, while also decreasing the energy used to do so
Skill (Passive) Enhanced Hearing (LV.2) You are able to hear better than what your ears would normally allow Effect: increases the range and preciseness of your hearing
All in all, Darksight was a handy spell that was easy to grind. Not only that, it¡¯s what¡¯s known as a ¡®Root Spell¡¯. Root spells are spells that advance into other spells such as DarkSight advancing into ¡®HeatSight¡¯, the fire spell. Just to clarify, DarkSight wouldn¡¯t disappear but he would learn HeatSight instantly. And even if he were to learn HeatSight naturally, DarkSight would aid in casting HeatSight. And as a degraded version of Swamp of Shadows, Puddle of Shadows would act as a root spell for the following versions of it. He had also invested his SP into Str and Int, but he didn¡¯t feel like bringing his status up just to show that. As for what he was going to do about the ¡®Knife-tailed Rats¡¯? While he would love to just wait them out, the entrance to his burrow had a major lack of plants for him to eat. If he didn¡¯t want to starve, he couldn¡¯t stay here any longer, but he did have a plan. Chapter 6: Disadvantage The plan was quite simple, burrow away from the Rats, and dig back to the surface farther away. Running away? Yes! But he was treating the rats as if they were a natural disaster. When a hurricane is coming for your house, wouldn¡¯t you run away? So he began to dig, shoveling the dirt in front of him, behind him, while also using some to pack the walls tighter as he dug to keep it stable. It was a surprisingly easy process, and the repetitiveness wasn¡¯t as boring as he expected it to be. Almost as if burrowing was second nature to him, most likely because it was. After all, rabbits were good diggers, having to make their own homes. About maybe an hour later he dug up to the surface and ate his fill of weeds, letting out a satisfied burp, he closed it up again, not wanting the rats to find him. Now with a full stomach, he dug for the rest of the day, only stopping when it was turning dark outside. Not because he was tired, no his burrow skill that had reached LV.3 from a full day of digging had made sure he didn¡¯t use up too much energy. The reason he stopped, was because his tunnel had broken into another. He poked a small hole in the wall to peep his eye through, and when he did so what he saw was a tunnel larger than his, maybe being about 3 times the size. And lackadaisically slithering through the tunnel, was a snake. Its scales were the same brown as the soil around it, making it hard to see if not for the fact it was moving. While he had seen the snake, the snake had not seen him and was moving right past the small hole he made in the wall of the tunnel to peak in through, so he took the chance to identify it.
Monster Race: Tunnel Snake Grade: E LV. 6-10 A Rare non-venomous breed of Snake that acts as ambush predators, they choose to burrow through the ground, their dark brown scales hiding them when peaking their heads out of the ground to look for prey, they usually live in small colonies of 8-10 Strongest Stat: Agi Lowest Stat: Int Strengths: strong stealth Weakness: lack of venom and a low sense of awareness Skills: Burrow (LV.6) Hide (LV.5) HeatSight (Lv.2) Fang Strike (LV.6)
Like most ambush predators they seemed to go for the 1-hit KO. The high level ¡®Fang Strike¡¯ probably being able to deal massive damage. This brought him to a crossroads, to hunt or not to hunt? That is the question. But one that was answered easily. He needed more XP and, with ¡®Puddle of Shadows¡¯, he could easily trap and kill them. It seemed like he could probably wipe out this entire colony without much danger, so to hunt it is! Starting the same way as in the fight with the spider, he casted ¡®Puddle of Shadows¡¯. A pool of inky blackness consumed the dirt of the tunnel beneath the snake. the snake, reasonably confused about this, turned its head around to observe the tunnel, its forked tongue flickering as it did. Not letting up he cast ShadowBolt, with Fire Magic not being the smartest choice if he wanted to breathe clean air. *Hissss!* The bolt smacked the snake in the face causing it to open its mouth wide, and let out a loud hiss, before slithering quickly towards him. ¡®What!?¡¯ The snake seemed unaffected by the shadows, as its limbless body only sank slightly into the darkness before it quickly left the area of effect. Daron had obviously not considered its lack of limbs giving it an almost immunity to the spell¡¯s effects. Not wanting to get hit by a bite from the snake, he quickly retreated back into his own tunnel, with the snake hot on his tail. What should he do? What should he do!? For the first time in this life, he truly felt as if he didn¡¯t have the advantage in this situation. He couldn¡¯t run forever, and he couldn¡¯t lose the snake in this linear tunnel, but his CC spell did not affect it! I can¡¯t die here! You would think dying twice would erase a fear for death one might have, but rather it seemed only to hyper-realize it for him. Having been confronted with the truth that he could die that most people would ignore in their day to day lives. Biting his tongue with his sharp front teeth, he drew blood, the pain forced him to collect his thoughts. He was limiting himself too much, he was a master of magic! Why is he only using the spells he currently knew? Turning around he gathered the mana in his Dantian, casting the Mana Magic spell, Bubble. Bubble, as you might be able to assume, creates a fixed bubble of mana around the user, having the ability to be charged with as much mana as the caster wants, being able to block a proportionate amount of damage depending on the mana used. Due to the size and shape of the tunnel, instead of the normal dome of faint blue light that Bubble would normally form, the shape of his was more like a cylinder. The snake, seeing the insolent rabbit that dared to hurt it stop, quickly used its finisher ¡®Fang Strike¡¯. A glow overcame its four large fangs, biting into the Bubble. However, Daron had pumped 20 mana into it. With that much, the bite was unable to pierce through all the way, only the tips of the fangs managing to breakthrough. Even so, when it detached itself from the bubble, hairline fractures appeared on the bubble. The lightest breeze probibly being able to break it. But that didn¡¯t matter, he had already finished casting his next spell. Dispelling Bubble to make way for this one, screaming squeal out loud, he thought the verbal components in his mind. ¡®[Meta Magic: Overcast]! Scorching Ray!¡¯ Blasting from the tip of his horn, a beam of red hot energy shot directly into the surprised face of the snake, burning its scales. And after the eyes had burnt to a crisp, the brain was fried in its skull. Panting furiously, he collapsed laughing his head off. He had done it! He shouldn¡¯t have, but he did! Meta Magic is an intermediate technique that allows the modification of a spell¡¯s effects without changing the spell itself. For instance, [Overcast] allows you to cast a spell above your magic¡¯s level, such as ¡®Scorching Ray¡¯. However, the level of his Mana Magic wasn¡¯t high enough to support the use of meta magic. So the efficiency of the spell was garbage. Even now his Dantian was shaking like crazy, under the stress, as was his head. But he survived and that¡¯s all that mattered in the end. As the headache subsided, and his Dantian ¡°cooled down¡± he went over what he had gained from this fight.

It had been just over a month, and he had already made such progress. It really showed how powerful the knowledge he had gathered in his last life was. As for what he had gotten in this fight? it was a level in Fire Magic, Bubble, Scorching Ray, and Meta Magic. Along with a title he had barely heard about before. This type of title was something found in people with a high talent for a school of magic, who somehow cast an entry-level spell from it, without learning the school. Such as someone who¡¯s talented in Fire Magic, and during a house fire, somehow drew the fires into a FireBolt to kill the ones who started the fire. But unlike FireBolt, Scorching Ray would be the go-to single attack spell for fire magic for a long while, making it much better. Heading to the juncture into the Snake nest, he closed up the entrance so that he could sleep for the night, letting his mana recharge. Chapter 7: Tunnel Snakes Rule! The next day, he woke up refreshed and ready to finish the job he started! Just because he was faced with a bit of trouble doesn¡¯t mean he was just going to give up! He had thought of a new strategy, using Bubble, then pelting them with ShadowBolts. While it may seem simple, sometimes, the best things are. The biggest downside though was that this would take a while, as the amount of mana it would take to cast Bubble then kill the snake with ShadowBolt, would take a lot of his mana pool. Meaning he would have to spend time in between waiting for his mana to regen However, he wasn¡¯t in a rush and the snakes were good XP. Going back to the end of his side, he reopened the entrance and cautiously made his way into the tunnels. Daron had kept his burrow close to the surface, so the tunnels he had broken into, should just be for the snakes to stick there heads out and ambush prey. Acting as the oriole hunting the mantis, he decided not to head deeper when he found a branch in the tunnels that sloped downwards. Deciding that it wasn¡¯t time to go deeper, he went another way. It took him a short while, but he found another snake. And this time, it was in the midst of hunting. Its body stuck to the side of the tunnel¡¯s wall, head sticking through the ceiling. Sinister laughter resounded in his head as he prepared to attack. Launching a ShadowBolt, he backed up to a corner in the tunnel. By the time the wriggling snake was able to retract its head from the ceiling, he slapped it with another 2 ShadowBolts. Unlike the last one, this guy didn¡¯t hiss at him but directly charged. And so activating his trap, he cast Bubble, causing it to cover the entire corner. After which he ran to the edge of the spell, the Snake, not being the smartest of creatures, ignored the wall of mana and slammed right into it, in its hurry to chase after its prey. The snake rebounded off of the Bubble. The spell, that only having 2 mana put into it, shattered just from the force of it charging into it. Daron jumped back out and launched more ShadowBolts at the snake. The trauma to the head, along with the well-aimed ShadowBolts, probably left the snake with a raging concussion and it wouldn¡¯t be able to shake it before it died. If Daron had a face capable of expressing human emotions, he would probably look like some type of stereotypical cartoon villain. That trick with the corner was something he thought of last-minute but had worked much better then he expected. Not only that, but it used much less mana as he only needed a few points to break the snake¡¯s charge. And that dazing effect? The icing on top! But if he was right didn¡¯t he level up again? He checked his notifications to confirm it.

There was also the fact that there should only be 2-3 or so more snakes in this tunnel system. And it might just be his hubris talking, but he should be able to handle two snakes at once, so going in deeper now wouldn¡¯t be a huge risk. In conclusion, he had decided to enter deeper now rather than later. He made his way back to the first tunnel he found that had led downwards, so in case something went wrong he could quickly make his way back to his burrow. Descending deeper, the tunnel eventually expanded into a room. The rough walls of dirt having become a darker brown around this area. In the room, however, was 5 snakes. The size of the colony should have left only 2-3 snakes, yet there were 5 right in front of him. Not that this was a big deal, after all, that just meant more XP for him however, there was still a tunnel leading deeper. If this were all the snakes left, what was down there? Not that this was something to think about right now. What he needed to do now, was kill the snakes. But he would have to find a way to do it one at a time, after all, he definitely couldn¡¯t kill 5 at once. With a bit of thinking, he was pretty sure he came up with a way to do it. The first thing he did was cast a new Shadow magic spell, ¡®Dampening Shadow¡¯. The spell created a fog-like shadow that crawled along the ground, consuming the snakes and him whole. While it was easy to see through the shadow, sounds would travel through it as if it were water, making much less noise. And for the second part of his plan, he positioned himself very carefully having to be extremely precise about the range here. He cast Bubble, the dome of magic separated one of the snakes that was sleeping just the slightest bit apart from the others. He had pumped about 20 or so mana in the Bubble, so along with Dampening Shadow, the divided snake had no way to alert its allies sleeping just next to it. Beginning the fight with a ShadowBolt, the snake was forced awake immediately by the pain. Looking around, it saw its friends all asleep and tried to let out a hiss to awaken them. Unlike what the snake expected, they didn¡¯t awake. despite this, it seemed to choose to confront me alone. But in return for its effort in trying to wake his allies, it received another shadowBolt. If there was any flaw in this plan, it was that to separate the snake from its friends he not only wasn¡¯t able to separate himself from the snake with the bubble, but he also trapped himself in there with it. Being within striking distance, the snake decided to go for a ¡®Fang Strike¡¯. Daron seemed to ignore it, letting it bite him without even putting up a fight. Just when the fangs would have pierced his fur a thin, nearly invisible membrane of light blocked it. He had casted another spell, the mana spell ¡®Shield¡¯. Shield creates a thin membrane of mana that blocks attacks. However, unlike Bubble where you put a set amount in beforehand, Shield draws directly from your mana pool to block the damage at a rate of 1 to 1. This made it more powerful, but also a lot more dangerous. If the attack you tried to block was too big for your mana pool, it would only negate the damage it could, letting the rest through. And for weaker willed casters, such a sudden sharp dip in their mana pool could knock them unconscious. The snake, now vulnerable from the failed attack got a taste of Daron¡¯s first-ever Horn Attack. With his horn glowing a dim light, he struck the snake. A small, shallow hole opened up in its side, however, that didn¡¯t mean much damage-wise. The reason he used it though, was to knock his opponent back, giving him room to finish it off with 2-3 more ShadowBolts. While he had leveled up from killing the snake he held off on checking his status, only looking at his MP to make sure he didn¡¯t use up too much. Seeing that he hadn¡¯t he dispelled his Bubble, he did so before creating a new one around another snake. He was going to kill all the snakes here. __________ The other snakes were killed in almost the same way as the first. Unexpectedly, knocking them away with his horn had an undesirable side effect of covering his head in blood. One time didn¡¯t stain him with too much but 5? Now his head was coated. Sadly, the only liquid he had here was more blood so, until he finished exploring this place, he wouldn¡¯t be able to clean it off. Licking the back of his paw, he began to wipe the blood away from his eyes, cleaning himself similar to how a cat would groom itself. When he was doing so, he also brought up his notifications, followed by the description for Dampening Shadow and his status, putting his SP into Str this time, to bring it up to a crisp 10.

Such a rapid increase in his level and skills! Truly, Tunnel Snakes Rule! Chapter 8: Desperation If there was one downside about grinding with these snakes, it was how Mana intensive it was, he had used 3/4 of his mana already! But that wasn¡¯t a big deal, he simply retreated back to his tunnel, and started meditating. You know how I mentioned that it was possible to train both Mana Manipulation and Mana Detection at the same time? Well, the way you would do that is to expel some of your mana and absorb ambient mana to replace what you had expelled, doing so is an extremely efficient way of training them. This method can also be used to regen your mana faster, as while you would absorb ambient mana to regen your mana, doing it concisely had a better effect. It took only about 10 min for him to top up, and then it was back to snake hunting. After going back to the room he was just in, he continued deeper going into the downward sloping tunnel that was at the back of the room. He found a room the same as the last with only a few exceptions, such as how other than the way he got in and another tunnel leading down, there were also three other slopes leading back up on the walls next to the one he came in. As for the occupants of the room, along with 5 snakes, there were also 10 eggs in the room. It didn¡¯t take much to guess that this was there hatchery, did that mean these snakes were the guards? Or were the snakes in the last room the guards, and these the mothers? It wouldn¡¯t impact his plan, but it was interesting to think about. Despite the eggs, nothing changed about how he handled the snakes. The only difference he could think of is that the snakes would occasionally glance back at the eggs but, other than that, he quickly killed them one at a time. He didn¡¯t continue down the path on the other side. Instead, he went up one of the others, not wanting to leave himself open to be flanked by the snakes. The room was the same as the first one, and doubling back to the hatchery, he scouted the other rooms finding them the same. This meant the snakes had four levels so far one for hunting, where they could stick their heads out, the second was for guarding the hatchery (the ones in the hatchery were all lower level than the average, so he could assume they were the mothers) the third was the hatchery itself, and the 4th he had yet to explore. But he couldn¡¯t think of what¡¯s on the 4th floor, because wouldn¡¯t the snakes prioritize the safety of the eggs over all else? He felt like he was missing a puzzle piece, shaking his head, he went to regen his mana, whatever is on the 4th floor could wait for him to finish killing the other snakes, he refused to pass up the juicy XP. ___________________ He dug out to the surface after he cleared out the last room, and the last rays of light were passing through the trees, the night was but a few tens of minutes away. As he was making his way back to the hatchery, intending to solve the mystery of what the 4th floor was, he double-checked his stats, already having invested his SP from the 2 levels he had gotten.

Only 3 more levels until he can evolve! It was exciting just thinking about it! Not to mention he was overly curious about how it would feel. The Monsters he had talked to about it had explained it, but they were very vague and weren¡¯t able to truly put it into words. But his level wasn¡¯t the only thing that had rapidly increased in level, the spells he used in combat had made great progress as well. Shadow magic had leveled up to level 5 over the course of being in the snake tunnel.

He hadn¡¯t intended it but due to using ¡®ShadowBolt¡¯ so much he was starting to specialize in Shadow magic, not that this was a bad thing just unexpected. But the sun wassetting,so he couldn¡¯t afford to waste his time if he still wanted to attack any snakes down there while they were still asleep. The next room was much larger than the others and was also the last room of the snake den. What he saw answered all the questions he currently had, from why the tunnels were so large compared to the snakes, and why there were so many snakes compared to what the system estimate was. It was a huge snake, unlike the rest, this one had dark almost black scales, and for the first time, he felt fear. Something primal was screaming at him, telling him to run, that what he was facing is the personification of death itself! But Daron wasn¡¯t an idiot, he had faced everything from dragons to Demons so why was something, so weak and comparatively small, scaring him this much? If it didn¡¯t have to do with the snake, then it must have to be him, but as far as he remembered, he¡¯s never had a fear of snakes. Wait he has never had a fear of snakes, but what if horned rabbits did? He wasn¡¯t afraid, it was his instincts. A sort of pride welled up within himself, he wasn¡¯t as weak as some stupid snake. And how stupid it was because, after he Identified it, he almost immediately came up with a plan to kill it risk-free!

If his little bunny face could smirk, one bigger than the snake in front of him would be plastered on it. He started it with a ¡®ShadowBolt¡¯, thwacking it in the face. ______________ The snake king quickly opened its eyes and the cold reptilian eyes almost gave him a heart attack, but he couldn¡¯t stop now! The snake king was obviously confused, after all, what was a little rabbit doing all the way down here? Did one of its minions bring it a morning snack? But the little thing had hit him with something, and it had actually hurt quite a bit! Another ¡®ShadowBolt¡¯ to the face cleared up those thoughts instantly, after all, it could figure out what was going on after it had killed this annoying pest. It chased Its prey, that had started running away, maybe only now having realized how much it had messed up attacking him. The snake king stopped dead in his tracks when he got to the hatchery. While the king wasn¡¯t sentient, it could easily put two and two together. It didn¡¯t care about how the rabbit did it, all that mattered in his rage consumed mind was that his minions, his kin, his family had been killed. Whatever happens, he was going to get revenge! ________ *thump* *thump* *thump* He could hear his heart pounding in his chest, so much it felt like it was going to burst. After aggroing the snake he dashed out, the Tunnel Snake King close on his tail. Even if it didn¡¯t specialize in speed it was still 2 grades, and some levels, ahead of him so it wasn¡¯t slower than him while weaving through the tunnels, he quickly came back to his. Jumping into the smaller tunnel, he turned around to face his foe. The snake king had caught up to him, eyes red, having been consumed with overwhelming rage. Foolishly it slammed into the juncture, shaking it slightly, but still not having enough Str to collapse his tunnel. It worked! Now all he had to do was shave down its health with ¡®ShadowBolt¡¯. As the snake tried to break its way in Daron kept pelting it with ShadowBolt after ShadowBolt. On death¡¯s door, probably with only 1 or 2 HP left and one of its eyes closed shut from all the damage, the Snake King backed up. Had it finally realized its mistakes? That it wouldn¡¯t be able to beat him. *BOOM* While he was taking a moment to gloat, the snake king had taken the opportunity to smash the ceiling of the tunnel, breaking into the forest. He had done it again! He had failed to consider all the facts and his plan failed, but he couldn¡¯t stop now! He wouldn¡¯t let it getaway! Using his powerful hind legs he jumped after the snake, but when he was about to land¡ *thwap* A massive tail as big as his body smashed into him, sending him flying. Ribs most definitely broken, he slammed into a tree coughing up blood. It hadn¡¯t run away? It was a trick? The snake slowly slithered towards him, pure hatred radiating in its eyes. He had been fooled by a snake? Not even a sentient one! No, he wasn¡¯t fooled, he just underestimated the hatred and determination a person could have when trying to get revenge for its family. He staggered to his feet, his vision was coming in and out of focus, well everything but the snake. No more underestimating, no more plans, he would face this snake with everything he had one desperate, half-dead creature against another. His mind had a strange drunken-like focus, unable to see anything other than his opponent. His legs kicked off the ground, sending him towards the snake, the snake did the same opening its mouth a powerful glow, stronger than other snakes¡¯ skill, took over its fangs as it lunged at him. ¡®Horn Attack¡¯ ¡®Shadow Infusion¡¯! Using a skill and a spell, his horn was covered in a glow right before it was consumed by black shadows, making it come to a jagged sharp point. The snake closed its mouth to bite him. However, maybe because it too was almost dead, but it misjudged. Instead of biting him, the snake swallowed him, practically shoving Daron¡¯s horn into the ceiling of its mouth. The horn broke through the flesh like butter, pressing into its brains, and it collapsed. Daron was barely able to climb out of its mouth before collapsing himself. His last thoughts weren¡¯t about how he would most likely bleed out, or how even if he didn¡¯t he would be eaten, it was joy at having bested a powerful opponent. Chapter 9: Sophia Daron awoke with a start, eliciting a sharp pain from his torso. Deciding that moving wasn¡¯t the best option at this moment, he looked around where he was. For the first time in this life, Daron found himself in a room, an actual room! He didn¡¯t expect to miss rooms this much! Looking around the room the walls were made of wood, a Dark brown giving the room a cozy look, and on the floor was a shaggy rug. He seemed to be in a living room, the large hearth and a table with a few chairs around it gave off a strong feeling of home. Daron noticed the consistent shallow breathing of a sleeping person, it wasn¡¯t hard to find the source. A teen girl with medium length black hair, chubby cheeks making her easily mistakable for someone younger if it weren¡¯t for her height. She was wearing a casual dress, a white one, probably worn only around the house to keep from getting dirty. While looking out the window he saw the forest a good distance away, probably talking about ten minutes on foot, with the sun almost reaching its zenith. With the positioning of the sun, it wasn¡¯t hard for him to guess he had been out for about twelve hours. This brought up the question of the hour, what happened? He passed out after fighting the Tunnel Snake King, so how did he end up here? Well, I guess it¡¯s pretty obvious the girl, or most likely a relative of hers had found him and brought him home. Looking at the bandages, that were covering his torso, it probably wasn¡¯t the girl, having been wrapped too expertly for a girl her age to have done. Checking his status, he decided it was time to find out how bad his injuries were.

35/50? Not bad, definitely better than how he should be doing right about now. It also seemed his level up might have saved his life, receiving an extra 10 HP would have been the difference from bleeding out and being on death¡¯s door. He put his SP into Str and Int while looking at all the other things he had gotten. His gains were immense as they said ¡®fortune favors the bold¡¯. Not only had he leveled once, and bumped up one of his titles to unique, he had also gained another unique title! He already knew that Overachiever would be the same, just with every 3 levels instead of 5. But what was overturning nature? He had never seen this title before, and it sparked a curiosity in him. No use wasting time, when he could just get the answer.
Title: Overturning Nature Grade: Unique You have overturned the laws of Nature and have slaughtered a natural predator of your species. Effects: Immunity to fear effects from level difference, Grade difference, or passive Racial skills and resistance to other Fear effects
This! This was incredible! Of all the effects, the one giving immunity to racial skills was undoubtedly the best. Monsters with higher grades would usually gain skills that could give them an advantage in battle, such as dragons having ¡®Draconic Regality¡¯. It would let a dragon shrug off a few status conditions per day and would inflict a fear effect in any who wished to fight them. And while these skills can be ignored when you¡¯re about as strong as them, in most cases you wouldn¡¯t be. ¡°Urge¡± Maybe he had let out some sort of exclamation in his excitement because a cute grown came from the sleeping girl. Wiping the sleep from her eyes she blinked them a few times, before looking at him with a smile. ¡°#@%*&@¡± He couldn¡¯t understand what she was saying, obviously speaking a different language. But that wasn¡¯t what drew his attention the most, that would have to be her eyes. Her eyes while normal in shape were bright yellow, not dissimilar to a wolf¡¯s. On anyone older, this might have been startling, if not downright intimidating, but on a little girl, it gave her little more than a unique sense of adorableness. Even if he couldn¡¯t understand her he could read her body language and tone enough to understand that she was relieved to see he was ok. This was only reaffirmed when she leaned over and petted him, being careful not to touch his bandages. Her hands were soft and gentle, so it felt rather comfortable. However, he didn¡¯t want to completely let his guard down and used identify on her.

Your skill ¡®Identify¡¯ has leveled up to level 2
Cool. Identify, while an easy skill to pick up, was hard to level as you wouldn¡¯t get much experience form identifying garbage tier items, or the same thing twice. *Growl* At this moment, Daron realized just how hungry he was. After all, it takes a lot of energy to recover from wounds, and his were near-fatal. ¡°Oh!¡± Seeming to come to a realization, the girl ran off into another room. She quickly returned with a plate and bowl. On the wooden plate was a few pieces of vegetables, such as lettuce or carrots. While the bowl was filled about halfway with water. Not being able to refuse such pure-hearted kindness, he started eating the food. *Squeal* With her hands pressed to her cheeks and stars in her eyes, she intently stared at him as he ate. It took him a few moments more than he would like to admit to realize that he was, in fact, a bunny or rather to realize that other people would treat him as such. He might be a some-hundred year old person mentally, but other people wouldn¡¯t be able to know that at first glance. This together with the fact that he can¡¯t understand the local language, meant it would be hard for him to re-enter civilization, well other than as a pet. Though the language barrier wasn¡¯t a big deal for him, he had learned tens of them all around the world, and the more he learned the easier it got. Even back on earth linguists would be able to relearn dead languages from texts, so it only made sense that living in a place where the language was in use, he would be able to pick it up. In fact, he could probably communicate through writing, even if he couldn¡¯t talk directly, or he could use a magic item to change his thoughts to sounds. But he needed to focus on the now, what was he going to do? Or rather, how long would he stay here? He¡¯s injured so a house like this would be perfect for recovering in, but he wouldn¡¯t like to overstay his welcome. After eating he was getting pretty tired, he was still recovering after all. So while it was a little hard under the intense eyes of an observer, his aching body quickly lulled him to sleep. ________ Sophia had to hold herself back from giggling as she watched the bunny in front of her go to sleep. She had been so surprised when her dad had brought home an almost-dead bunny, talking about how she had begged him for a pet. A cringeful smile covered her face as she remembered her father being confused as to why she was screaming at him. He had treated it¡ him? Her? She softly lifted its backside to get a look at his bottom. Her father had treated him, using the good herbs to treat his wounds. because he was apparently on death¡¯s door (though even she could tell that). She had been so worried that she fell asleep at the table watching him. But it was worth it to see him awake. Actually, it was getting awkward to refer to him as ¡®he¡¯, she should give him a name! Sparkles? No that¡¯s a cat¡¯s name¡ princess? No, he a man¡ prince? No, it would be weird to name him after a dead person¡ Oh, I know! Chocolate! ¡°Hello Chocolate¡± She quietly whispered, not wanting to wake him. Picking up the plate and bowl she brought for him, Sophia tiptoed back to the kitchen, putting them in the sink. She would need to buy more veggies for him. She had already Identified him, so she knew it was possible to feed him weeds, but he was her pet! He seemed to like lettuce and carrots, so what else? Potatoes? Maybe¡ She continued to think of ways to take care of him, retreating to her room to write these down in her journal. Time seemed to fly as she went over things from making a bed, to toys. ¡°Hi sweety¡± ¡°Eep!¡± She jumped up in her chair as she heard her dad behind her. ¡°Dad! What did I say about sneaking in the house!¡± Her dad was a beast of a man, not quite hairy but¡ he really did look like a beast, or rather a wolf. His distinct yellow eyes and black hair, both that she got from him, along with his tall stature made him look like a wolf in the skin of a man. Of course, that was contrasted by the large smile on his face. ¡°Sorry but I didn¡¯t want to wake your pet¡± ¡°Chocolate¡± ¡°Huh?¡± ¡°I named him Chocolate¡± ¡°I mean, ok?¡± Sophia seeing that her dad was losing interest, or rather was just confused, decided to change the subject. ¡°So¡ do you know how he got hurt?¡± Her father got a gleam in his eyes that he only got when talking about his ¡®glory days¡¯ and began talking as if narrating a fictitious tale in a tavern. ¡°Well, I was doing my usual scouting in the forest, for any dangerous monsters.¡± ¡°Of course¡± She responded semi-sarcastically. Showing how many times he would talk about this on a regular basis. ¡°And just when I was about done, with nothing strange happening, well other than the Knife-tails acting up, they¡¯re dying down now though.¡± She nodded as if this was all very interesting. She wasn¡¯t allowed in the greater forest anyway so it didn¡¯t affect her much, but if she didn¡¯t act riveted, he would go on a spiel about the time a Knife-tail almost got him in the eye or was that the Flame Hawk? ¡°When I heard a loud *BOOM*! I rushed over, only to find a dead Tunnel Snake King! Now, these guys are rare, not only because they aren¡¯t born often, but also because they never, and I mean never leave their nests! So I couldn¡¯t believe my eyes when I saw a dead one, its face all mushed up. Dead, with the only monster around, a half-dead Horned rabbit¡ well, I guess it¡¯s Chocolate now¡ but anyway yeah, I remembered you wanted a pet, so I scooped him up and brought him home.¡± ¡°Thanks for that, I like him¡± ¡°Not more than me I hope.¡± Her father said, with a ¡®deadly¡¯ serious face. ¡°Well¡ I mean, he is pretty cute...¡± Her dad¡¯s eyes widened with shock, grabbing his chest he kneeled over. ¡°My own daughter! Interested in a man!? She¡¯s entered her rebellious phase!¡± Sophia rolled her eyes. ¡°You¡¯ve been saying that for the past 15 years!¡± Her Dad now with a pout on his face talked again ¡°That¡¯s only because you¡¯ve never had a non-rebellious day in your life! Where¡¯s the little princess I imagined you would be before you were born!¡± She snorted. ¡°Well, if you feel that way, why don¡¯t you leave me alone. I need to study magic anyway.¡± Getting a bit more serious, her father had a slight frown on his face. ¡°I don¡¯t know why you want to be an adventurer.¡± ¡°You¡¯re the one who¡¯s always telling me how ¡®amazing¡¯ it is to be an adventurer.¡± ¡°Yeah, but you could die! I¡ don¡¯t want that to happen to you¡± ¡°Which is why I need to practice.¡± ¡°Ok, but remember-¡± ¡°I know, I can¡¯t go until I¡¯m 16 even then, I have to go to school first. Not that I¡¯m in a hurry to go now.¡± Nodding her dad left the room, closing the door behind him. Sophia closed her journal, opening a book on magic. She was having trouble converting her mana quickly, so she wanted to reread it to make sure she wasn¡¯t missing anything. Chapter 10: Life as a pet Trapped in an enclosed space, waiting for his physical condition to improve before leaving¡ the current situation he was in was eerily similar to the time when he was living in the warren, and that was only a week or so ago! Having woken up again, it was probably two or three PM, and while he had checked his status and titles, he never checked his notifications, so he did so now, ignoring the irrelevant ones.
Your spell ¡®ShadowBolt¡¯ has leveled up to level 8
You have learned the Spell ¡®Shadow Infusion¡¯
Your ¡®Mana¡¯ School of Magic has leveled up to level 3
With the amount of ShadowBolts he had blasted the snake king with, it would be stranger if it didn¡¯t level up, but twice? And just after it had leveled up before? It did make sense, the stronger the opponent, the more experience you get, most of the time. But the same as when he was just born, it would be hard to practice magic in the house. After all, he doesn''t want his new ¡®owner¡¯ to exclaim something like ¡°why is my rabbit casting dark magic!?¡±. But just like then, he would practice one semi-useful spell to grind his magic¡¯s level. Before it was DarkSight, and this time, it was Mage Hand. To tell you a bit more about Mage Hand, it¡¯s a useful spell that creates an ethereal hand made of mana that can interact with objects, not only that, but it was also a cantrip. ¡®What¡¯s a cantrip?¡¯ I can hear you saying. Well, a cantrip is a spell that can¡¯t advance, derive, or fuse into any other spell, a level 10 Mage Hand would stay a level 10 Mage Hand. His reason for doing this was, not only because he was planning to use it to help him leave when he was healed, but also because it would help level his Mana magic. And if he wanted to use Meta Magic anytime soon, then training Mana magic wasn¡¯t a bad thing to do. Looking around the room, to make sure nobody was here, he casted Mage Hand. A semi-transparent blue mitten appeared. Due to being only level 1 instead of a ¡®hand¡¯, he got a ¡®mitten¡¯. Feeling the slight trickle of mana, he operated the hand, picking up a knick-knack on the ledge over the Fireplace. He began lifting it up and down, mimicking how you would perform a dumbbell rep. He got through about 15 reps before his ¡®Enhanced Hearing¡¯ heard footsteps behind one of the doors, so he quickly set down the object, before dispelling his hand. ¡°@#%&#¡± (Dad? Is that you?) The one who entered was the girl from before. Quick! what do bunnies do!? Act cute? He was honestly drawing a blank. What did his siblings do? Not knowing what to do, he ended up freezing from an acute level of panic. ¡°#@ Chocolate @#*)#$@#$¡± (Hey Chocolate! How ya doing?)Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. Coming over she petted him, but he wasn¡¯t paying attention anymore. Chocolate? CHOCOLATE!? That word wasn¡¯t in this alien language she was speaking, it was in English! His mind was racing, thinking about how she knew English. no, he was panicking, he needed to calm down. She didn¡¯t know English, she knew the word chocolate. That must mean this world had chocolate! Oh my God! He had missed chocolate in his second life. There wasn¡¯t any in his second world, which meant not only was this a different world from his second, it also means he could eat chocolate again! He felt like crying! Furthermore, this could tell him that others from his world had come here. How? Like him, people who could retain their memories through reincarnation, or something else? This revelation was groundbreaking, he hadn¡¯t seen any evidence of others from Earth. So he had assumed either he was unique, or there were so many worlds that the chance of meeting another was slim to none. Well, that last one could still hold true, but he couldn¡¯t assume so. But enough of this, he¡¯s a rabbit, even if he found another Terran they wouldn¡¯t have a way of knowing he¡¯s one. While his mind was spinning like a hamster wheel, the girl had left the room. Shortly after returning with food, setting what was obviously for him, in front of him. She also had a plate for herself, and just smiled, staring at him, as she ate. Not wanting to disappoint his ¡°adoring audience¡±, he too ate. ¡°@#&*@#&*# @#*$#* Chocolate #$*$*#&$*# #$*$%#*$#* chocolate chip cookies #$&#*$¡± (Ok, so what do I have to do today? Pick up supplies for Chocolate, Marcus is in town so I should swing by to see if he brought any sweets, I hope he brought chocolate chip cookies, my fave! Then what else?) As she continued talking to herself, she had raised her finger one by one. She then closed her eyes, scrunching her eyebrows, revealing the intensity of which her brain was working. She shook her head, dispelling whatever thought she had. She looked over to see he had finished eating, and petted him while talking in, what he could assume, was baby talk. ¡°#$@ chocolate, @#@#$(*!¡± (Good boy Chocolate, you¡¯re not picky with your veggies, are you!) She grabbed both their empty plates, taking them to what he could only assume was the kitchen. The girl waved goodbye as she closed the front door. Ok, now that she¡¯s gone, time to start working again. He began the repetitive task of grinding his spell, passing the time multitasking with other things, like grinding Mana Detection and Manipulation or using Enhanced Hearing to pick out noises. It was lucky he was doing so when another person seemed to be opening a door, giving him time to set down whatever he was practicing with. The man who came through nearly made him¡ ¡®release his bowels¡¯. It was a tall man with an intimidating appearance. While smirking, he waved and said a few words, as he walked past him. ¡°@*(#& Chocolate @#(*#&$(@#*$&@#(*$& HA!¡± (Hi Chocolate! Hope we can get along! Just be sure not to seduce my daughter. HA!) Ok, that confirmed that he had been named Chocolate. But getting back to the man, he went over to a set of equipment near the door¡ wait? He hadn¡¯t noticed that before, how did that get there? Nonetheless, the man donned the leather armor, tying a belt with a loop to hold a sword with, placing a bow over one of his shoulders. Seemingly fully equipped, the man left the house as well. From the shared hair color and eyes, it was easy to tell he was the girl¡¯s father or uncle. Throughout the day, while training, he always seemed to get interrupted by one of them. The girl, trying to play with him for a bit, or the man, with his boisterous laughter. But it wasn¡¯t like he didn¡¯t gain anything.

The life of a pet was an odd experience. Considering he had lived as a baby before and had camped out in a cave full of little mushroom men, who wanted nothing more than to get high on shrooms with you, this was still one of the top ten oddest things in his life. But other than when other people were around, he was constantly practicing Mage Hand. One of the ways he pushed through the boredom was by imagining what it would be like to be an old man. Complaining about kids these days! With their Sending Stones, and the Spellbooks. How in ¡°my day¡± we would use our feet to walk to people we wanted to talk to, and use our mouths to say words! SS 1: Gathering of the gods {One month ago} Inside a large meeting hall, the room was mostly taken up by a grandiose table, intricate carvings covering every inch of it other than the top, even the bottom of the table wasn¡¯t left bare. People were sitting in chairs that matched the table, each having a distinct appearance. With the glowing auras around them, there was no mistaking it, these were gods. ¡°On the authority of I, Morath the god of Law, I declare this meeting officially started!¡± Slamming a gavel, the man at the head of the table, and owner a magnificent beard, stated with a booming voice. ¡°The objective of this meeting is to decide who should champion this generation¡¯s Summoned Hero¡± One of the other people in the room, a woman with a kind smile, spoke up. ¡°Why not give it to the embryo? That should be more than enough to push it over the edge.¡± ¡°Embryo? You are referring to Technology correct Tya?¡± Tya merely smiled before talking once more. ¡°Yes, having another god would boost humanity¡¯s domain another step, and I believe we all know that this one will quickly become a major god.¡± Most of the people nodded, mumbling in agreement. However, a few frowned one of which, a Red-haired man wearing armor rather than clothes, slammed his hands as he stood up from his chair. ¡°Ridiculous! ¡®Technology¡¯ will destroy humanity! Making them lazy!-¡± Cutting off was a man with a well-kept mustache, a pair of thin-rimmed glasses hanging on the bridge of his nose. ¡°Taruk, don¡¯t think I don¡¯t know your church has several Airships all armed with cannons, so don¡¯t act like you hate technology¡±You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story. Taruk¡¯s face turned beet red, scrunching his face up like a pufferfish, he held himself back from jumping the table to tackle the man. But in the end, he took a large strained breath through his nose and sat down, at which point Morath continued. ¡°While I would love the addition of a new member to this table, it is imperative that this hero is the strongest in all recorded history¡± After taking a moment to let his words sink in, he turned to another god and nodded. The one who he nodded to was a curvaceous goddess, who looked like a stereotypical gypsy, standing she spoke. ¡°As we all know, fifty years ago, I divined that the next Demon King would arise one year from today. However, at the time I felt a great sense of woe. So recently I decided that with the allotted time quickly approaching, that I should do a more thorough divination¡± She took a deep breath before continuing ¡°And what I saw in my divination was¡ that the next Demon King would be¡ a dragon¡± Immediately the room was in an uproar, all the gods in the room were either trying to scold her for lying, or laugh it off as a joke. Though, all of them had, as clear as day, fear in their eyes. ¡°Impossible! We all know those self-centered loners would never get enough followers to become a demon king!¡± Taruk yelled, this time the hands he had slammed on the table trembling with fear. Morath was the one to speak this time. ¡°I¡¯m afraid it¡¯s true, that is why you can all understand how critical it is for this hero to be strong.¡± An old man, covered in wrinkles wearing a yukata and katana on his hip, spoke. ¡°Then I will do it, I¡¯m willing to impart the class ¡®Sword God¡¯ on them¡± Taruk, now speaking with a tone of respect and sorrow said. ¡°Kenjin if you do that then¡¡± ¡°If I wanted to become a major god, then I would have done so centuries ago. A dip in power would mean little to me if it would save humanity.¡± The room that had been chaotic a few moments ago, was now deadly silent a sense of solemness in the air, sighing, Morath spoke. ¡°Than it is decided, the Summoned Hero will be a champion of Kenjin the god of swords. However, as you lack a pope, Taruk will you send yours to train the new hero?¡± Shaking his head, Taruk, who now appeared to be a completely different person than before refuted Morthan, with a calm and calculating tone of voice. ¡°You may be wise, but you are no god of war. It will take more than a year to train a suitable hero. I will send my pope to the front line, buying us some time. Instead, I will send two of my Arch-bishops, one skilled in armor, and one in the sword. They should do well enough for now.¡± ¡°I will trust your opinion. If there are no other objections, let us continue on to the matter of who should be the hero¡¯s companion...¡± SS 2: Protagonist Mcgee Hi! I¡¯m just your average everyday highschooler. I wake up, go to school, come home, do my homework, and go to sleep. Even the most unique thing about me is my love for games and novels. But even then, that¡¯s not too uncommon these days. If I¡¯m so average why am I narrating? Well, that would be because of the situation I find myself in. ¡°Oh, Hero from another world! We hath called upon ye to help us in our darkest hour! In a year, the next Demon King will ascend to the throne, and humanity will be doomed. Please help us!¡± One moment he was walking home from school now he was in a marble room, standing on top of a large alter. The altar was covered in a previously glowing, and now dimming, magic circle so complex it was hard to look at. Instead of the standard beautiful priestess or princess, the one kneeling before him was an elderly man. Drenched from head to toe with sweat, the old man was panting. ¡°OK...¡± Haro¡¯s brain was overloaded, so all he could say was that one word. The old man, however, seemed to have no problem rattling on and on. ¡°Excellent! This way this way! A grand feast must be held in your honor! Then you will be shown to your accommodations!-¡± As he continued to talk Haro was too busy processing his situation to listen. He, an average high school, had been summoned to another world? It was a dream come true! But you never expect for one to actually happen, at least one like this. *thump thump* His heart was beating loudly in his chest. Elves, magic, and dragons! All of these must exist in this world! He wanted to see it all! To travel the world, kill the demon king, and settle down with a harem of gorgeous women. And it would all start now! ____________ ¡°AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!¡± ¡°Why are you screaming ¡®Hero¡¯!¡± Sarcastically taunting him was a grizzled man, wearing a robe that contrasted his large muscles. A sadistic smirk on his face he quickly circled around Haro and kicked him in the butt, knocking him up into the air. Haro was forced to land on his feet, shuttered from the inertia. But despite not even having the time to regain his balance, he forced himself to swiftly raise his sword. *Clang* A metallic sound resounded throughout the courtyard as the man¡¯s large fists connected with the metal sword. However, not having a high enough Str, the sword was slammed against his chest, pushing him to the ground again. Why was it like this? Just yesterday, he had been before a gathering of nobles and the royal family, the princess sending him a cute smile, eating his fill of delicious and drink. After though, he was introduced to this man, an Arch-Bishop of Taruk the god of war. Being told that he was going to learn the sword he was elated! After all, swords were just straight-up cool! In contrast, reality is often disappointing. ¡°Haro! Are you ok?¡± Running over to him was the previously mentioned princess. With long bright pink hair and blue eyes, she was a standard fantasy princess. ¡°I¡¯m fine¡ I think¡±Stolen novel; please report. Groaning as he sat up, Haro accepted a towel the princess had brought him, using it to wipe the sweat covering his face. Now with her hands-free, she casted a spell, a bright white glow, covering her hands. His body started to hurt less, and some of the fatigue was lifted. ¡°Hey! Don¡¯t heal him! It defeats the point of training!¡± ¡°How is this training! You¡¯re just knocking him down over and over again!¡± The princess, who seemed to be meek yesterday, was yelling at the monster of a man that was his instructor. ¡°Wow, princess! I didn¡¯t know you know more about fighting than me! So tell this ignorant one, how would you build up his tolerance to pain? I mean, beating up in a safe location, even building his resistance to bludgeoning damage a bit is the best idea I could come up with, so what would you do?¡± The man, Gurth, talked down to the princess, Annabelle, with large amounts of contempt. In response, her cheeks turned red as she repeatedly opened and closed her mouth, unable to muster up the words needed to respond. Mumbling under her breath. ¡°You don¡¯t have to be this rough¡± ¡°HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!¡± Laughing his head off, Gurth¡¯s face turned deadly serious. ¡°Get out¡± Annabelle shrunk under his gaze and quickly entered a building, peeping out through a window shortly after. ¡°Now that the distraction is out of the way, let¡¯s continue. However, since she healed you, we¡¯ll have to start from the beginning, you don¡¯t have any objections do you?¡± Standing, Haro put up his sword in front of him and responded with. ¡°No¡± ¡°Well at least you have a bit of fire in you, let us see how long that lasts¡± ______________ Climbing out of the large baths the palace had, still covered head to toe in bruises and a few cuts ¡®n¡¯ scrapes, Haro was guided to the room he would be taught magic in. Said room was brightly lit, a blackboard covered the entirety of one wall. The old man who he had first seen when he was summoned, Ordis, was the only occupant of the room when he entered. Ordis, who he had found out was the court Mage, was his teacher. With a kid like joy, he quickly had Haro sit, before hastily talking about magic and mana. Honestly, most of this flew above his head. Not that it wasn¡¯t interesting, but most of it sounded like nonsense, guess it¡¯s a side effect of coming from a world without magic. ¡°And that is the leading theory of dungeons, known as the ¡®Blingobloop Hypothesis¡¯¡± ¡°Ordis, not to sound rude, but can you start from the basics? And a bit slower?¡± Ordis blinked a few times at him as if he was the one lost. Then as if it suddenly dawned on him, his eyes opened wide. ¡°I¡¯m so sorry! I just love magic so much that sometimes I forget not everyone has my level of knowledge! Ok... Ok¡ so to start at the beginning, Schools of magic are the systems of how we use mana. We do so by casting spells, shaping mana into forms that cause some change in the world.¡± Haro felt this was a bit too basic, but didn¡¯t say anything at risk of Ordis skipping over the real ¡®basics¡¯. ________ By the time class finished, Ordis had finally gotten to the ¡®good part¡¯, and Haro was almost tempted to ask Ordis to continue longer. However, his brain was fried and no telling how long Ordis would have kept him if he let him. Having some free time Haro went to his room, intending to get a quick nap in. Unexpectedly he had a guest. It was Annabelle, who had not followed him to Ordis¡¯ class, probably knowing better. ¡°Hello, princess-¡± ¡°You can call me Anne¡± ¡°Ah, ok. Hi Anne, so why are you in my room?¡± Speaking with a bit less¡ tact then he would have liked, Haro sat down in a chair across from Anne, who was sitting at the small table in his rather large room. Noticing how tired he was, Anne chooses to comfort him, rather than getting offended. ¡°They really did a number on you, didn¡¯t they? I came to comfort you! So how about it? Want a back massage?¡± Putting up her arms in a ¡®serious¡¯ manner, she offered him. But Haro, regrettably, wasn¡¯t in the mood for it. ¡°Sorry, I¡¯m really tired, just want to take a nap right now.¡± ¡°Then how about I-¡± Anne seemed like she was about to say something, yet she cut herself off, her face a bright pink, matching her hair. ¡°I-I-I¡¯ll leave you t-t-to it then. Hehehehe¡± After a bit of nervous laughter, she quickly made her escape, shutting the door behind her. Was she going to offer him a lap pillow? No matter, he was tired so he dragged himself over to the large ornate bed, shuffling under the covers, the last thing he did before sleep consumed him was open his status window, probably his favorite thing about this new world.

Chapter 11: melancholy and sadness ¡°Good night Chocolate¡± It had been seven days since he had become a pet, and his gains were about what he had expected. His Mage Hand was now (LV.8), Mana Magic had leveled, and he was able to pick up a bit of the local language that, for now, he was going to refer to as ¡®human¡¯. Other than the language, he had also learned about the family he was staying with. The only occupants of the house are the father and daughter pair. While he doesn¡¯t know the father¡¯s name, the daughter¡¯s name is Sophia and that she was learning magic, doing about average for her age. On the other hand, the father was an ex-adventurer, more specifically he is an ex C ranked adventurer, As he was an A+ ranked adventurer once, he knew that that was a formidable achievement. He also knows that the father would patrol the forest at night. But while his stay with this family of two was nice, being able to sleep indoors was great, he was now fully healed so it¡¯s now time to go. But seriously, can he take a moment to comment on how strange this is? In the span of a month, he was going to have to sneak away from two families? What were the chances!? So casting Mage Hand, he opened the door as lightly as he could. Closing it behind him, he walked down the path towards the nearby village. As for why he didn¡¯t head back into the forest, he now knew was simply called the ¡°greater forest¡±? Because it isn¡¯t suited for someone of his level. Other than the Tunnel Snakes, ambush predators that could go days without food, he had met only two monsters he could kill. Instead, it was better to make his way further into the lands of man, where the stronger monsters would be culled. The village was quiet at night with the houses were dark, the occupants waking and sleeping with the sun. As no one was around to stop him he quickly made his way through the village, heading down the only road that left it. He said road but it was more a dirt path, just large enough for a carriage, the dirt had been pounded down by the occasional merchant who would come to the village. One of the best things he had found about being an animal was that he didn¡¯t have anything to do, or anywhere to be. He could just leisurely walk down this road, eating plants off of the side of the road when he got hungry, Not that he was slacking off. During the night he decided to train up the magic he had mostly ignored, Fire magic. Fire magic was going to be his biggest damage source when it came to magic, not to mention with his title ¡®Spell Prodigy(Scorching Ray)¡¯, Fire magic has a wide variety of attack magic for him to use. But he wasn¡¯t training his ¡®FireBolt¡¯ spell, no that was too¡ violent, instead what he was training was the Cantrip ¡®Control Fire¡¯. I feel it¡¯s self-explanatory, but just in case¡ it lets you control fire not a lot of fire, nor is it even possible to make it move fast. All in all, FireBolt is better in almost every way for a fight, but he was grinding. From an outsider¡¯s perspective though it must have been odd. A dark brown bunny with a spiraling horn atop his head, and floating just above said horn, a flickering flame was dancing. Causing one¡¯s mind to speculate, Is that really a flame? Or is it the legendary ¡°Will O¡¯ Wisp¡±? Of course, that would be in his original world. In this one, Will O¡¯ Wisps are a LV.0 undead. Hanging around graveyards, they seem to form from the large amounts of Death Mana that gather where the dead rest, imbuing the remnants of souls clinging to corpses even after the majority of the soul has moved on, giving them temporary form. They quickly burn out, usually by the time night ends. It¡¯s said that due to the memories contained in the soul fragments, that if you lean in close you can hear the final thoughts of the dead. But can he control two flames!? Trying really hard, the flame split into two smaller ones, and he was able to keep it up for about half a minute. The levels of his Fire Magic, Mana Manipulation, and Control Flame being too low for him to keep it up any more than that. Thinking about Will O¡¯ Wisps made him feel, not sad but¡ melancholy? There was something somber and mesmerizing about watching the fire dance in the air. Such an impossible sight for his old world, now nearly effortless for this one. But Magic wasn¡¯t perfect either. With the exception of something on the level of teleportation magic, traveling took long periods of time. And traveling on foot wasn¡¯t the safest thing either, while in larger groups you would probably be fine, most monsters knowing that it would be hard to kill a large group of humans. If you were traveling alone, then all sorts of nasties might try their hand at taking you on- *rustle* -and if it weren¡¯t for his Enhanced Hearing, he might have been caught unaware of such a threat. The thing about fire was, at night, it would make you a literal light in the dark. Daron¡¯s experience quickly kicked in, casting Bubble just in time for a crude stone spear to slam into it, breaking in half as it rebounded.A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. ¡°EH?¡± He heard an exclamation of surprise before five small green creatures emerged from the foliage, goblins. Goblins were similar to Horned Rabbits if you think about it, they were extremely adaptable and could be found pretty much anywhere. While Goblins are dumb, it wouldn¡¯t be fair to call them oblivious. Seeing a small Horned Rabbit block a spear with magic, they were now much more cautious. Or rather the goblin equivalent, which was charging all at once. Daron could only sigh, this was why he wished his Fire magic was a higher level, it had plenty of AoE spells. Burning Hands would have been the perfect spell for this situation. Not that he couldn¡¯t deal with the situation without it. ¡®Pond of Shadows!¡¯ Casting the more advanced version of Puddle of Shadows, an area of darkness consumed the ground below three of the goblins, leaving only two to charge at him. Now that was manageable, or rather it was too simple, all he did was throw a few FireBolts and down they go! The closest thing to ¡®danger¡¯ was when they threw their weapons, all of which missed or bounced off of the Shield spell he had casted. Soon they were all dead. Looking at the corpses scattered on the road he felt the least he could do was shove them off the road, so he dragged them using Mage Hand. Now looking at his handiwork he decided to look over his notifications, and bring up the window for goblins while he was at it.

Great! His Fire magic now being at (LV.3) meant he could now cast Scorching Ray once more. Just having this one spell would increase his combat capability by a large margin, but now he could also cast other Fire spells, such as the previously mentioned Burning Hands, a cone type AoE! Now back to the goblins. Where there are goblins, there are goblin villages and a village would probably be the best place for him to grind right now, so he started to look for tracks. ____________________ Sophia started her morning as she had for the past week. Waking up she went to the living room to get Chocolate some breakfast. ¡°Good morning... Chocolate?¡± When she got to the living room, instead of a cute brown rabbit, there was nothing. She looked around the living room, thinking that he was hiding somewhere. He rarely moved before, but that might have been because he was injured. Who knows, maybe he¡¯s actually a rambunctious bunny? She couldn¡¯t find him, she even looked in the other rooms, calling his name out. The only room she hadn¡¯t looked through was her father¡¯s because she didn¡¯t want to wake him for no reason but Chocolate was a reason! Opening the door¡ *ZZZZZZZ* Her father was spread out, arms splayed across the bed, the blanket being hooked on his foot, the rest laying on the floor, but no Chocolate. ¡°Dad?¡± ¡°Huh? What is it?¡± Bolting upright, the man looked around with half-closed eyes, using his palms to rub the sleep out of them. ¡°C-Chocolate is missing¡± ¡°I¡¯ll look for him¡± Her usually silly father was serious hearing the slight shaking in her voice. He quickly got up and left the room. When he returned to Sophia, he had a frown, and nothing else. ¡°He¡¯s not in the house, I¡¯ll look outside¡± Saying only that he left the house, but the same as before returned empty-handed. It was strange, her father wasn¡¯t the best tracker but if he couldn¡¯t find him that meant this wasn¡¯t a case of a wandering rabbit, had he been stolen? They searched for a few hours, asking around town, looking for tracks near the forest, but nothing, it was if he had just disappeared. The only news was that some goblins had been found dead on the road, most likely killed by Fire magic. But that didn¡¯t have anything to do with a missing bunny. In the end, her father had to work and left leaving a downtrodden Sophia alone, something she wasn¡¯t used to anymore. Chocolate might not have been in her life for long, nor had he been very receptive to her cuddling, but with her father working most of the time and with few kids in the village around her age, a void had been born and Chocolate had filled that space in her heart, a vital one. Clasping her hands together in front of her chest, Sophia declared. ¡°If you''re alive, I will find you¡± Chapter 12: Goblin Village Daron moved into the forest where the goblins had come from, looking around for traces of where they originated. Goblins are relatively light, combined with their reasonably high sneak skill and, it was easy for them to leave little tracks when they wanted to. But in the end, they are little more than E+ ranked monsters so, for a skilled tracker like Daron, the few tracks they left behind were quickly found by him, even without the appropriate skills. And when he found those he quickly located a group of footprints that they left behind before they noticed him and started moving stealthily. After that, it was a simple case of following the tracks back to their source, and boy was he surprised when he found it. The source of the goblins was a large village, built in a clearing in the forest. It was unusually large, in fact, it would be more accurate to call it a goblin town rather than a simple village. This made him reconsider his location. Before he had thought he was in a remote village away from the majority of civilization, but with the size of this village, it was more than likely the road he came from wasn¡¯t the only one they¡¯re raiding. For a goblin settlement to thrive they needed two requirements. One no high-level predators, while goblins are sneaky it was hard to hide a permanent settlement, so they would be restricted to small groups. The second was women, the goblin gender ratio is roughly 1:10 with men being the majority, however, goblins can make up for this by reproducing often. However, goblins can reproduce with almost every sentient species, so by mooching off of humans, who will not only cull dangerous monster but will send juicy targets for raiding on the roads connecting their cities, it made it easy for them to grow. With the size of this town, he could reasonably assume that there is some sort of trading town nearby, where people would flow through often. Back to the settlement itself, he couldn¡¯t place an exact number, but it should be around a few hundred. While the walls were made with the standard level of goblin craftsmanship, it was well defended with thick walls made of tree trunks. a crude gate, having to be dragged to be opened, blocking the entrance making it was easily defendable in the event of a siege. He would need to scout them further, so not wanting to waste the precious darkness, he cast a new Shadow spell, ¡®Cloak of Shadows¡¯. The shadow of the trees, bushes, and even his own twisted, being pulled towards him, it encased him. Just like when he first learned shadow magic, he felt the chill associated with shadow magic, but ignoring it he crawled along the ground. Hiding in some tall grass nearby, he was able to creep closer to the walls without trouble. But reaching its end, and with no other cover in sight, it would seem this is as far as he could go. *Ding* Hm? Pulling up the notification, it seemed obvious in hindsight.
You have learned the Skill ¡®Sneak¡¯
He pulled up its and Cloak of Shadow¡¯s description.
Skill (Passive) Sneak (LV.1) When you attempt to not be detected, it will be harder to find you Effect: increases your ability to hide
Spell Cloak of Shadows (LV.1) School: Shadow Using this spell you cover yourself in a cloak of shadows making it harder to be seen in areas with little light Effect: Covers you in a cloak of shadows Duration: X*1 Sec. Cost: X*5 Mana
He had already snuck around in the Tunnel Snakes¡¯ tunnels, so it seemed he only needed this to push him over the edge of the requirements to acquire the skill. As for his thoughts on Cloak of Shadows? It was good, very mana intensive but good. It was especially useful right now as his Sneak was still (LV.1). Hiding, he looked on towards the gate. Now closer, he could see two goblins on top of the walls, looking outwards while on the verge of seemingly passing out. However, while it might not be obvious at a distance, these goblins were bigger than the ones he had faced before. They were also better equipped, with a crudely stitched set of hides covering most of their green skin, and the weapons they had were actual weapons made of metal. Not that they were of the best quality, even from here he could see the rust covering a good portion of the spear one of the guards carried. It wasn¡¯t hard to guess what they are, but identifying them confirmed it.

To fill in a bit more info, when a goblin reaches their max level, they seldom reach the requirements to evolve into a new race. But rather they have the ability to gain a class, allowing them to specialize in a field. The most common of which was the warrior class, as seen above. It was useless just to stand here doing nothing, he needed to get into the camp to scout, and he had an idea of how to slip past the guards¡ ________ What do goblins guards think about? The answer is the same most men from any species would think about when on guard duty at night, a soft bed. So it was no surprise that both the goblins on the wall were a little grumpy, and more than a little sleepy. One of the goblins started to feel like someone was watching him, assuming it was his partner he looked over, only to find he was fast asleep leaning on his spear. ¡°Agh!¡± Kicking the butt of the spear, the owner who had been dreaming peacefully was rudely awoken. ¡°Grrr¡± The now ruffled goblin growled at the other, causing him to do the same. It wasn¡¯t long until they were consumed by their standoff, no longer caring about the world around them. ________ He had used yet another spell from the Shadow school of magic, Eerie Gaze. the spell would manifest an eye in the shadow of the target, giving them a sense of dread. But maybe because of how stupid they were, but the goblins weren¡¯t that frightened. Despite that not having been his plan, he didn¡¯t look a gift horse in the mouth and took the opportunity to dash towards the wall. Arriving quickly, he began to burrow at the base of the wall. As the builders hadn¡¯t considered preparing for a rabbit digging under their walls, it was a simple task to get through. Coming up the other side he saw the inside of the village. It looked like any other goblin village, Littered with huts made of sticks, mud, and whatever they could get their grubby little hands on. The most common being hide or bone, some of which looked suspiciously like human ones. However, there was one big difference between this village and most others, other than the size that is. They were built neatly, a standard village would have the buildings scattered around haphazardly. These, however, were built with the idea of leaving clear paths forming blocks almost as if inside an urban city. Daron wouldn¡¯t make the same mistake twice, both the large size and now the orderly city design. It was obvious that the goblins were lead by some sort of variant leader, not the standard goblin chieftain or shamen, but what? He could rule out an ogre or orc, as most of them were too impatient to be able to corral the goblins to this extent. It was probably a troll or hobgoblin. With a smart leader, it would be hard for him to eradicate the village. If it was something dumber, he could whittle them down bit by bit through hunting their raiding parties. However, their leader would probably catch on quickly and increase the size of any group they sent out. His best chance would be assassination. If he could kill the leader, then the goblins would default to the next strongest. And without a competent leader, he would be able to pick them off, as he had just mentioned. He headed farther into the village, the leader¡¯s hut most likely in the center of the village, so he made his way that direction. Other than housing, there was only the occasional hut to store some weapons or whatnot, not even having doors on their storehouses. Looking at how low quality the buildings were, gave him an idea. With how close they were to each other, it would be easy for a fire to spread. That would be the perfect distraction for his assassination, but he wasn¡¯t going to hastily rush in, no this was merely a scouting mission, he would come back later when the opportunity was right. ¡°NO! %#&! NO! NO! %$#&@!¡± As he approached the center of the village, he saw two big bildings. One was made of materials clearly a step above the rest of the huts, while the other wasn¡¯t. It was easy to guess which building was the leader¡¯s, as for the other¡ He mentioned earlier, but goblins could and would reproduce with females of other species, regardless of consent. It was morbid to think about, but the fear in the screams showed that they had only recently been captured by the goblins and added to their ¡®collection¡¯. Daron wasn¡¯t the most righteous person in the world, but he would have to be a monster in mind not just the body to not feel anything listening to the pleas they had most likely been screaming for hours. He couldn¡¯t even go check it out with the risk of being seen too high, the flickering light of flames coming from within the hut easily revealing him. The most he could do was focus on taking revenge for them, by killing all the goblins here. The doors for the huts were actually sheets of hide draping over the door frames, making it simple for him to peak under the ¡®door¡¯. The inside was crudely decorated with trinkets of various sorts, from what looked like dreamcatchers, to skull helmets made from a large bird of some sort. A shaman? On the other side of the hut was a bed made of, like most things, hide and cloth. On top of the pile, the leader seemed to use for a bed, were two figures. The leader wasn¡¯t a troll or a hobgoblin like he had assumed. Instead, it was a large goblin, larger than the warriors that had been guarding the gate. The only clothing it had on it was a large ceremonial headdress that had a mask covering the upper half of its face. He had no idea what kind of goblin this was, he could begin to make a rough guess of what it might be. But there isn¡¯t any point when a much simpler option exists now is there?
Monster Race: Goblin Shamen-Chiefain Grade: D+ LV. 20-25 An extremely rare member of the goblin family. A powerful shaman that files the role of both a chieftain and spiritual leader. Oh¡That was a bit boring. I mean, they do say the most simple answer is often correct, but ¡®Shamen-Cheiften¡¯? He didn¡¯t even know why he was complaining, why was he so disappointed in who was leading the goblins? It wouldn¡¯t matter when it was dead, but killing it would be difficult. Shamans are good at buffing and healing, so it would probibly engage in melee combat whilst buffing itself. But he had mentioned two figures on the bed, it seemed he had walked in on the Cheif doing the deed. His partner? Her deep tanned skin and large pointed ears betrayed her identity as a Wood Elf. Elves have a very strict caste system, depending on what sub-race of elf you were it would determine your status in the community. High Elves stood at the top, being the elf equivalent to royalty. They have an incredible affinity for magic, making them the trump card of the elven race. Below them are the Sun and Moon elves along with a few other rarer races of elves, they act as the diplomats, civil servants, and generals of the elven countries. And below them were the commoners of the elven race, making up the vast majority of the elven race, this class were mainly Plain Elves and Wood Elves. Plain elves are what you would typically think of when imagining elves, they were more balanced, having a moderate talent for both magic and bows. Finally, Wood Elves lack an affinity for all magic but plant but are probably the most dexterous of all the elven races, they¡¯re majestic hunters who are known for their skill with a bow. The only elves below the commoners in their caste system are dark elves, but now wasn¡¯t the time to get into them. The woman on the bed looked nothing like what he had described earlier. Naked and covered in cuts and bruises, her eyes were clenched shut, the occasional shiver or whimper the only sign that she was still alive as the chieftain played with her. Chapter 12.5: Adventurers ¡°So it¡¯s decided then?¡± The slightly handsome man said. The man was wearing armor made of a mixture of leather and metal, with the majority being metal, an unassuming longsword and heater shield being strapped to his back. ¡°We¡¯d have to be stupid to pass up such a juicy job¡± The one who responded was a cute girl with short green hair. She wore a sensual tightfitting green robe, that looked more like a dress than a mage¡¯s robes. With an almost comically large staff leaning on her chair, there was no mistaking it, she was a spell caster. The other people sitting at one of the small wooden tables inside of the adventurer¡¯s guild were, a man in pure white leather armor, with two daggers on each side of his hip, and a large bald man with a greatsword, wearing nothing over his chest, with the few cloaths/armor being furs. They made up the usual combination of members in any adventurer¡¯s party. A tank, a magic caster, an agility damage dealer, and a strength damage dealer. Sadly they lacked a healer, but demand for someone who could save your life in a pinch was higher than supply, especially for the last month. There had been a rise in the number of priests that had been drafted by the army, which had many people riled up that the next war against the demon kingdoms was about to happen.A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. Not that that mattered to his party, after all, as adventurers they were under no obligation to fight in any war they didn¡¯t want to. And this part of the country was separated from the nearest demon kingdom by the great forest, what was its actual name? Guthura¡¯s bane? It didn¡¯t matter, the point was that any demons would have to treck through an absolutely massive forest, which wasn¡¯t the best for armies. But getting back on track, recently some goblin corpses had been found on a road leading to a nearby village, and after some scouting, it was confirmed that there was a nearby village had grown to a rather unusual size. It was all but certain that they were the cause of the recent disappearances in the area. With the number of goblin classers spotted by the scouting team, it was graded as a D ranked quest. And their party, the ¡®Winds of Change¡¯, had decided to accept the quest. Partially out of embarrassment, and wanting to push this under the rug as fast as possible, the local government had raised the reward quite a bit, on the condition that this be taken care of by the end of the week. Jerald looked over his party, more specifically Sera. While female adventurers weren¡¯t rare, it was still about a 1:20 ratio, so they could be considered lucky to have one in their midst. But she also brought up troubles of her own. As would commonly happen when spending time with a beautiful woman like Sera, they all had developed feelings for her. As to avoid internal strife, the three men of the party had agreed not to make any moves on her, but considering how close her chair was next to Mikal¡¯s (the man with the daggers), one of them had broken that agreement. They would have to confront him about this, but that could wait until after this quest. Chapter 13: Rushed Battle It had been five days since Daron first went scouting in the goblin village. While he would have loved to jump in and save the elf, that would be stupid. Sadly, as an F- ranked monster, he was much too weak to take on this opponent, so he needed time to prepare. For instance, the thing he spent most of his time on was modifying spells so he could cast it with his bunny body. An example would be ¡®Burning Hands¡¯ a spell that requires you to spread your fingers and place your thumbs together, but he didn¡¯t have thumbs or fingers, so he had to modify it to use his horn, it was simple but time-consuming. But it wasn¡¯t like that was the only thing he was doing, he also would go every day to the camp and scout around, making sure he knew about the number of goblins, and what types there were. And it was a frightening 150 goblins, that¡¯s about the size of a small army! Of course, any self-respecting town would be able to fight that off with a tenth of that and decent walls. He also finalized his plans, he split the plan into three phases. Phase one! Steal the Chieftain¡¯s staff, the Chieftain¡¯s main close combat skill was his ¡®Staff Mastery¡¯ so without it and he would be next to helpless in melee range. Phase two! Start a fire, so one of the biggest problems in assassinating the Chieftain was that he couldn¡¯t kill him in one strike, so that meant his subordinates would be quick to join in and gang up on him, so by starting a fire, he would distract them because while the Chieftain had control over the goblins, he doubted that would matter if a fire was consuming the village. Phase three! Ice that fool! So yea simple enough, fight and kill the Chieftain. But he did come up with a combat strategy, dodge all of his attacks, now hang on, because that might sound obvious, but up until now his battles had mostly been attacking with spell then they die, and that¡¯s how most mage vs. mage battles go, but he had worked up a bit of Agi so he would try and use it to his advantage, but as he wasn¡¯t used to dodging in his new body, it would take some luck to actually dodge anything, well not entirely¡ _________ He arrived at the goblin camp for his usual watch, as for when he planned to attack? During the new moon, while the goblins had torches, the moon was still an important tool for guards, so during a new moon where there isn¡¯t any moonlight, it would be harder to spot him¡ but life has a way to screwing you over when you plan for something. ¡°#*&^$¡± (It¡¯s just up ahead right?) ¡°^&*$%¡± (If the info¡¯s right? Than yes) Using his Enhanced Hearing, he was able to detect two voices talking a bit away. Heading towards them while still sneaking, he activated Cloak of Shadows. ¡°&%^$^%¡± (how many goblins were there again?) ¡°*#$&^#$@!@#$¡± (around 50 or so meaning other than the chieftain, there should only be a few warriors, and maybe a rouge) When he came across the source of the voices, it was revealed to be a group of four, in the front was a man with a heater shield a sword strapped to his back. Next to him was a slimmer man that without a doubt was some sort of rogue, holding a map in front of his face, he must also be the navigator. Behind them were two others, a cute girl with stark green hair, wearing a robe of similar colors, and a large man covered in muscles, (but not cloths). As the front pair were talking so were the rear pair. ¡°@^*%#*^%&¡± (thanks for protecting me Vorus) ¡°@*#^&#$&#@$#$@!¡± (No problem Sera, it¡¯s my job, NO! Honor to protect you while we march) The girl beamed the guy a smile, and in response, the man¡¯s cheeks turned red as he scratched the back of his head. It wasn¡¯t hard to tell that these four are adventurers, mainly because on all four of their necks were a dog tag looking Medalion dark brownish orange. Adventurer plates, of which this group are D ranked, as shown by their bronze plate. To quickly sum up the adventurer¡¯s guild, it¡¯s an international organization that manages a specific group of mercenary dealing with monsters, and other specialized tasks. And they rank their members and quests with ranks corresponding to the ranks monsters and classes have, with bronze equaling D ranked. This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience. This wasn¡¯t good news for him. These adventurers probably came to destroy the goblin village, but unless they already knew about the leader being a powerful variant, he doubted they would be able to properly siege the goblins. And after being attacked, the leader would amp up security! He had no choice, he would have to move his plans to now! Running back towards the camp, he vaguely heard them say something but paid them no mind, he didn¡¯t have time to. Getting into the camp was easy, the guards being their usual sleepy selves. With almost all of the goblins being asleep in their homes, he decided to drop his spell, wanting to conserve as much mana as possible. Slipping under the door for the Chieftain¡¯s hut, he found he and the elf were both asleep, with his target, the staff, laying off to the side. Once he got in range, he cast Mage Hand. The ethereal glove-like hand appeared, floating silently off towards the staff. The hand slowly descended to the staff, grabbing its midpoint it began to lift. However, whether it was because the staff was made of heavy wood, or because the spell¡¯s level was too low, the hand wasn¡¯t able to lift the staff, only getting part of it off the ground. His mind was racing a mile an hour! What to do! If he dragged it, the staff would make too much noise¡ wait noise? Could he possibly!? But with his Int, it might not work, but he already came this far he can¡¯t stop now! A black fog began to spill out of his horn, crawling along, as soon as it covered the staff, he started dragging it. unfortunately, there was a problem, keeping both spells up at once was too taxing on his mind. To imagine both spell formulas at once was a toll. The way you cast a spell is to imagine the spell''s ¡®formula¡¯. Looking at one it would look like a magic circle, with rune after rune interconnected to each other, but only with a trained eye would you be able to make sense of what rune did what, and how to connect each of them, with learning a spell mostly being about understanding the runes, and the pattern you needed to place them in. At high levels, the spell will usually manifest it within the air, so if you knew what the runes meant, you could guess the spell¡¯s effects. But back to the present situation, with Daron having to cast two spells continually, it involved him imagining both, try it now, thinking of two shapes at once. Luckily he didn¡¯t have to actively concentrate on Dammpening Shadow, so he was just able to manage. Pushing through the growing migraine, the staff bounced off the ground as it made its way to him. He backed out of the hut with it, dumping it in the alleyway between it and the house next door. Now for phase two. He began running, while he could have left the distraction to be the adventurers, with only four people, he didn¡¯t think they would take up enough of the goblin¡¯s attention. So he dashed towards the other side of the village. Eventually, he came across a decent spot, a storage hut that was a tad bit too close to the hut next to it. Inside were some spears, the stone, and stick kind, that the goblins he first met were wielding. Not wanting to wake anyone while he was still here, nor destroying the hut, he chose to use Create Fire rather than FireBolt. The fire moved to one of the walls made of tied together sticks, quickly finding perches on the twine that tied the walls together. As the fire spread to the rest of the hut, he dashed back to the chieftain, even if this didn¡¯t work, he couldn¡¯t afford to waste more time. Getting back, he took a moment to catch his breath. Taking the last deep breaths he needed, he looked over to see the fire starting to get big enough that he could see it from here. Showtime! Slipping under the door once more, he faced his foe. His opening spell was obvious, Scorching Ray. Out of his horn, three red beams of searing hot mana blasted out, striking the goblin. *YEAAAAAA!* Screaming out in pain, he began flopping around, Daron even swore he could see tears in his eyes. The elf girl seemed to wake as well, but unlike the goblin, she was quiet crawling into the nearest corner as to not be sighted. The goblin began to get to his feet, having not attempted to hide, the goblin easily spotted Daron. But just as he did to many of his opponents, Daron capitalized on his attempts to glare menacingly at him, with another Scorching Ray. However, proving that he wasn¡¯t chump change, the goblin was able to roll to avoid one of the beams, only being hit by two. The goblin reached out with his hand clutching¡ nothing, looking at his hand in confusion, the goblin began to search the room with his eyes. No mercy! Daron blasted another Scorching Ray. Skillfully, the goblin dodged two of the beams only being burnt by one. But maybe that was enough as the goblin was looking charred. A good deal of his body being covered in black craggy skin. The goblin seemed to realize he wouldn¡¯t be able to use his staff in this fight and turned to Daron. Reaching out of his palm a blast of greyish smoky looking mana shot towards where Daron was, but having seen him point his hand towards him had already jumped to the side, earning a ding from the system he ignored. Snarling, the goblin charged at him. As he was doing so, a phantom bear appeared behind him, at the same time his muscles seemed to expand. Some kind of Str buff spell? The goblin quickly arrived before him and threw a meaty punch at Daron. Daron was able to jump back, dispersing a good deal of the blow. But as he used his weaker front legs, it still hit him a barrier of mana appearing on his body to block the rest of the blow. Borrowing the force of the attack, Daron flew outside the hut. The fires had picked up speed and were spreading towards here as he looked around. *AHHHH¡ ehhhh?* Chasing after him was the goblin Chieftain, who after getting outside and seeing the flames, was slacked jawed letting out cries of confusion¡ and possibly despair? NO MERCY! Another Scorching Ray burnt through the Chieftain¡¯s body, filling his eyes with just as many flames as the ones consuming his life¡¯s work. The Chieftain leaped onto him, attempting to claw him with his sharp fingernails. But having none of that, Daron kicked off of the chieftain¡¯s chest, doing a flip he scored another Scorching Ray, putting the chieftain at death¡¯s door. There was a problem however, Daron could feel what¡¯s known as mana fatigue, essentially it¡¯s what you feel when you have little to no mana, a quick glance at his screen confirmed it, next to none. Well, this isn¡¯t ideal now, is it? Chapter 14: Rogues Requiem The scene was rather dramatic if Daron did say so himself, fires consuming the buildings(huts) around him, a large and muscle filled opponent(a goblin) on its last legs, and him a mage with a weak body(a literal bunny) out of mana, and forced to face this formidable foe, mano a mano, hand(clawed) to hand(pawed). He would have to pull out all of his skills(Horn Strike) and use all of his training to come out on top! IN DARON¡¯S MIND... Goblin Chieftain: ¡°oh respected opponent! With your wits and intellect, you have outsmarted me! But it wasn¡¯t enough, without your mana, you have no way of defeating me!¡± Daron: ¡°hmph! If you truly believe that, then why are you shaking¡± GC: ¡°Igh!? You noticed that!? Well no matter, even if my body is betraying me, I will defeat you!¡± D: ¡°You fool, your instincts are telling you that you¡¯re no match for me, yet you fight? I must say I respect your force of will, but enough talk, now we fight!¡± NOW BACK TO REALITY Running at him, the Chieftain thew a punch towards him. Maybe it was because he isn¡¯t used to fighting with his fists, or because he was forced to punch down towards a smaller opponent but the Chieftain wasn¡¯t able to keep his balance while punching. So Daron who quickly sidestepped leaped forward while using Horn Attack. His horn glowing, Daron stabbed it into the Chieftain¡¯s chest. The Chieftain wasn¡¯t new to fights though and tried to use his falling force to twist his body out of the way of the attack, making what would have been a deep gouge wound, into a ragged cut that had a steady stream of blood seeping out of the wound. To do so the Chieftain had to fall onto the ground, leaving him open to another attack, this time Daron attacked his leg, getting him in the thigh and tearing a hole in it, he even heard the bone snap. With a swipe of his hand, the Chieftain forced Daron to retreat. The Chieftain was breathing heavily, his body charred and broken, it didn¡¯t seem like he could do anything, however, Daron¡¯s encounter with the snake king had forced him to relearn a lesson he had already knew, that a cornered rat is dangerous. However, unlike the snake king, the goblin Chieftain had little love for his subordinates and dashed towards the exit. The phantom bear behind him morphing into a phantom wolf. The Chieftain¡¯s muscles deflated back to their usual size, but his body grew leaner and quicker. Now making him faster than Daron, even with only one leg. But luckily, Daron¡¯s mana had regened enough for a FireBolt. The bolt of fire steaked forwards, intent on striking its target, and hit him in his good leg, sending him tumbling to the ground. Maybe giving in to his fate, the Chieftain turned to Daron, his eyes constantly shifting between anger and fear. To think such a powerful goblin, who leads over a hundred others, would cower at the sight of a rabbit. It was almost enough to make Daron pity him, but the elf he kept in his hut was more than enough to dissuade him from that. Now that he had killed the Chieftain, he should get going, while he would like to stay around and grind some more, he was out of Mana and he doubted he could take two standard goblins right about now, so he began making his way to the nearest wall, intent on burrowing out from there. ________________ ¡°Darn it! There¡¯s way more than the estimated number! I¡¯m gonna kill that scout when we get back!¡± The man with the heater shield now had his handsome face in a deep scowl. He had to balance blocking the attacks from the multitude of goblins around him, while also getting a slash out now and then, so to keep the goblins away from his companions. Right now their formation was a weak one, where he was in the front and Vorus was on the opposite side. And in between, them was their rouge Bale, who was striking out at anyone trying to get in through the sides. All to protect Sera who was in the middle, sending WindSlash after WindSlash, draining her mana pool at a dangerous rate. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. ___________ They had just got to the village, two goblin warriors were chilling on top of the walls over the gate. Hiding in the bushes they confirmed their plans. ¡°Sera can you get them both with a WindSlash?¡± ¡°No, they¡¯re too far apart for that¡± ¡°Ok, then you take the one on the right, while Bale will take the one on the left, then Vorus will take out the gate, we rush in after him, ok?¡± ¡°¡°¡°Ok¡±¡±¡± Bale grabbed a stone off the ground, pulling out a sling he began spinning it. While Sera raised her staff towards the guards. After their leader lowered his last finger, Sera and Bale acted, one launching a stone, the other shooting a bolt of green wind. Both hit their targets knocking them from the walls. ¡°OOORRRAAA!!!¡± Screaming, Vorus charged the gate, pulling out his greatsword, he swung it in an underhanded slash. Due to being a barbarian, Vorus¡¯ Str stat was quite high, so the door flew back into the village, a deep gash where the sword landed. Quickly rushing out from behind him was their leader, who scanned the interior. Looking at the inside he had a bad feeling, but he also has a job to do, so he ignored it. Quickly finding more goblins, coming out of their homes, he charged the nearest. Slashing out with his sword, he formed a fatal wound on the unsuspecting goblin. ¡°Let¡¯s finish this up quick! Before they can form up!¡± Following his lead, the others moved with him like a well-oiled machine, killing gobs left and right. But as they got deeper, he finally realized what was off. There were too many houses, instead of the scattered spaced out huts, these were orderly and close together. But if there are this many houses, then the number of goblins would have to be several times more than they thought! Looking around he finally noticed it, they were surrounded. ¡°We have to get out! There were more than we expected!¡± Screaming this the others snapped out of their battle trance, and their eyes widened as they realized the gravity of the situation. ________________ And so we return to the present, surrounded and desperate. ¡°I¡¯ll open a path¡± ¡°Bale?¡± Bale dashed out daggers flashing, faster and faster as if he had made some sort of breakthrough. With his daggers now seemingly more like flashes of light than actual metal, he cut down goblin after goblin. However, to get these deadly results, he ignored everything else, wounds now covering his body. But this made a chance, he had done what he said, he opened a path for them. ¡°GO!¡± Shouting that the others nodded in response, well other than Sera. Sera was crying, breaking down where she stood. Bale leaned in and kissed her. Sera¡¯s eyes opened wide as she was snapped out of her thoughts. ¡°I love you. Vorus!¡± Sera¡¯s mouth opened as if to say something. But before she could, Vorus picked her up in one arm dashing together with their leader. ¡°He he he ha! HA!HA!HA!¡± Starting as a low chuckle Bale began laughing his head off, a smirk on his face as he cut goblin after goblin. A sword pierced through his heart. A fatal wound, but even then he kept swinging when his vision swam, even then he kept swinging. As his vision cut out, it was replaced with memories¡ His life was like most who grew up on the streets. Joined a gang, and learned how to steal, learned how to kill¡ but he didn¡¯t want that kind of life, so after he saved enough money he left that town, that slums. That¡¯s where he met his current friends, newly minted F ranked adventurers. Those were the days, they had fun on each quest, no matter what it was, coming home to the guild, collecting their coin, and drinking the night away. Hitting on barmaids, he could still remember Vorus¡¯ face when his drunken sloppy flirting convinced the girl he liked to sleep with him. It brought a warm smile to his face. Then she joined¡ Sera. They had just become E ranked and thought it would be good to add some magic to their roster. A naive thought to be sure, magic casters weren¡¯t that common, and were quite valued, so why would one choose their little band of misfits, but Sera did. It was love at first sight, then second, and third. The way she smiled, the slight shyness she always had in her voice even when talking with those she was close with, everything! They had agreed not to go after her, so as to not break them up, but how could he resist. And she liked him too! They started dating, and he found out more about her. Like how she¡¯s the only daughter of a baron, who ran away from home because she hated the type of life she was forced into. That shyness I mentioned earlier? Ends up that was trauma from how she was taught ¡®a lady is quiet and proper¡¯ when she was little. As they talked he also found out how she hated fighting, she became an adventurer because other than her wind magic, she had little other skills she could rely on to make money. And when she saw them, laughing together in the bar, she thought she wanted to be a part of that, so she applied. He asked her to marry him, talking about how they could retire, that he could become a hunter in a village, and they could live a happy life together without any fighting, and she said yes! This was going to be their last quest, the money would have been enough for them to start a new, but it seemed that wouldn¡¯t happen anymore. That was ok though, they would take care of her, he knew. It was a miracle he was able to keep fighting this long after his heart was destroyed, so it was no wonder when he collapsed, a smile on his face. His last thoughts being of the woman he loved. Chapter 15: The Fairy Daron had excited the village through a newly made hole under the walls, where he then made his way towards the gate. While he wasn¡¯t planning on doing any more fighting, he was mildly interested in the fates of the adventurers that had disrupted his plans. It seemed his timing was impeccable because just when he got settled in the bushes nearby, two men, one of which was carrying a woman, came dashing out of the gate. Littered with wounds, it was clear they were on their last legs. The goblins were chasing after them, but as long as they don¡¯t let the forest¡¯s rough terrain slow them down, they should be faster than the goblins. However, there seemed to be another group intent on capitalizing on the adventurer¡¯s efforts. A group of women either naked or covered in muddy rags, came charging out of the gate as well. ¡°#&^%#¡± (Don¡¯t stop now! We¡¯re almost out of this hell!) Leading the charge was a woman covered in scars, using the ax in her hands to great effect on the remaining goblins who were chasing them. The second person to note in their group was the elf who had been taken by the Chieftain. Raising the Chieftain¡¯s staff, that she had apparently found, she cast a spell which shot grass out of the ground, tangling the legs of a good amount of goblins. Was she the one who rescued the others? But how did she find the staff? Well, he guessed he didn¡¯t try that hard to hide it, but still. Seeing the outside world again, many of the girls started to break down in tears, but the scared woman kept them going. It was probably time to go now, the adventurers were gone so he didn¡¯t have any reasons to stay, he would come by later to see if any others would remain, but for now, he deserved a nice long rest. ¡°Thank you for saving my friend¡± When Daron turned to leave he heard a voice, and while he couldn¡¯t understand what the words meant, he could understand what they were saying. It was a slightly odd feeling for sure, but he did know one thing that could bring this about, a translation spell. ¡°You¡¯re welcome, but if I might ask, who is this friend you speak of?¡± Turning around, Daron faced the one talking to him and was surprised by who he saw, it was a gorgeous woman. Looking as if she had just entered her prime, she had long black hair and white eyes, she was wearing what looked like a midnight blue dress, reaching down to her thighs it emphasized what she had extremely well. But it wasn¡¯t her beauty that caught him off guard, it was her race. There were two details that would make it clear to anyone she wasn¡¯t a human, the first was that she was small, not short, but rather she was barely taller than him when he¡¯s laying down on all fours. The second was the pair of large wings on her back, looking as if they were impossibly thin panes of glass, they had a beautiful if not hypnotic pattern carved on them, and was constantly glowing as if stars had been trapped in them. This was without a doubt, a fairy. Fairies are seldomly seen in human territories because they¡¯re hunted relentlessly for their wings, which can be used as materials for potent wands or are just collected as art. She smiled sweetly at him and replied. ¡°She was the wood elf being held captive by the leader¡± Things started to come together in his mind, if she had helped the elf escape and gave her the chieftain¡¯s staff, then it would make sense of the women had rallied together. ¡°Shouldn¡¯t you be off with your friend right now then? I doubt she¡¯s in the most stable mental state right now...¡± Her smile turned awkward, looking a bit torn.Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. ¡°She wanted to be an adventurer and left for the human lands, but¡ I didn¡¯t plan to go with her, I was just following her to the edge of the forest, then this happened. That woman, the one with the scars, I overheard her saying she¡¯s an adventurer. So this is where we have to part anyways...¡± Daron was a bit frustrated, he knew there¡¯s probably a better way she could handle this, but it was her decision, so he left it at that. ¡°So you just came here to thank me? There¡¯s nothing wrong with that, but I have a feeling you want something else¡± Hearing him say this, she blinked in surprise. She started fiddling with her hair, blushing as she opened her mouth a few times to say something before she was able to form the words she wanted to say. ¡°I-I want you to look over her for me¡ not for long! Just, until she gets on her feet. You looked pretty strong fighting that goblin, so I thought, it might not be a big deal for you...¡± Oh? Now, this was interesting, it wasn¡¯t a bad deal for him. If she was to vouch that he was sentient, then it would make it much easier for him to register as an adventurer. Because all monsters can, in fact, become adventurers, it¡¯s just hard to get to a guild to register, but if he could hop a ride with them¡ ¡°What¡¯s in it for me?¡± ¡°Huh!? We-well you would have my deepest gratitude. Hehehe¡± Daron just gave her a long stare. ¡°Ok, I could give you my blessing. But you have to promise to protect her until she becomes D ranked!¡± ¡°Sure¡± She slumped to the ground a sigh of relief escaping her lips. A fairy¡¯s blessing might help him in the future, and he was planning to accept anyway, he just wanted to see what he could get. She floated over towards him, bending down, she kissed him on the forehead, which was awkward because of his horn. *Ding*

AS 1: Regal Bladesmanship There once was a kingdom, ruled by a benevolent royal family. However, the king was old and so it was time to pass the crown to his only son. This son was a genius, master of politics, finances, and everything else a king might need to rule well... except military prowess. The royal family had carved this kingdom with their own flesh and blood, fighting on the frontlines with their soldiers. But with all the countries surrounding them either being vassal states or bogged down with generation-long treaties, there hadn¡¯t been any wars in a long time, now was the age of peace and prosperity. So the prince had no qualms with his lack of strength, after all, he had his royal guard to protect him. But nothing lasts for long, one night an assassin snuck into his room and was only a few seconds away from killing him when his guards arrived. So the prince, scared for his life, sought out the Sword Saint and asked him.The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. ¡°Please! Make me a sword style that will allow me to protect myself until my guards arrive!¡± The Sword Saint had lived a long time, many had asked to be his disciple, to gift them a sword style that will conquer their foes, but not once had anyone asked him to make a style like this! A style for a non-fighter! Maybe that was why he accepted. One year later the Sword Saint returned and gifted him the style. The style was a built to protect yourself, not just by blocking and parrying, but also by attacking, to deter your attacker from being on the offensive, so despite being for defense, it was quite deadly. Its name was Regal Bladesmanship. Called such as it could be adapted for anything from a dagger to a greatsword, though it was best used with a longsword. Even after the prince would die, even after the kingdom fell, this style would live on for centuries.
