《Force Invasion》 Prologue A being that has seen all and knows all within its universe has become...bored. All events within its governed space is predictable and rather dull. The being senses that something within one of its timelines has changed. Something that originated from the Primary Plane that created its own existence has somehow found its way into its territory. Normally the being would wage war against the unknown, but it senses that the power is also confused as to it being there. The being and power meet to converse over the strange phenomenon. Each begins to be fascinated by the others information about their respective world. The power requests the being if it may experience this new world. The being agrees as now the monotony will be broken. It wishes to watch the waves the power will bring within the world it governs.Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon. However, the being does not wish for the power to possess too much within its territory. The power can choose only one to bear it, but the being would provide aid to that weilder. As the wielder learns of the power so too would the being to help it reach its home. The aggrement made the two proceed to create the system to help the wielder. To assist too much would hurt the balance of strength, but too little will leave the bearer too weak to do anything. Thus the Force chooses its Je''daii and the Presence watches while eating popcorn. "Let the fun begin!" "Let the fun begin!" Chapter 1 In the city that embodies crime and corruption, Gotham. As the sun was just starting to fall from high noon, a family was walking along the sidewalk. The parents watched with smiles on their faces as their 8 year old son was looking from window to window trying to find something to spend his birthday money on. Having saved up $50 dollars from his last report card and now birthday he was going to be picky on what he spends it on. The boy stopped at the street corner. Something odd had caught his eye. A man that looked like he was from eighteenth century London with his mustache, trenchcoat, and top hat was selling some trinkets on a table. He clearly had money based on his clothes yet the things on the table would suggest otherwise. Every kind of old household junk could be found from rusted frying pans to a case of cheap steel spoons. Except for one. On the left edge of the table, partially covered by what looked like a knitted table cloth, was a pendant. Now the boy was not the kind for jewelry as anyone knows that just brings unwanted attention to you in a place like Gotham. Still, something about it drew him in. Seeing his interest the man smiled. "I see you have taken a fancy to this eh boy." The man chuckled a bit seeing the 8 year old blush a bit at being found staring. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. "Um, how much is it sir?" The boy was nervous of the stranger, but still was more interested in the silver beauty. "Normally I would have priced it at $350." The boy looked down in sadness, but could understand. How could something so beautiful not be expensive. "But for you my boy. Hm, how about $30 dollars." The gentleman was grinning from the shock plastered on not only the young child, but also his parents. "Sir, I can''t take something like this for so little!" The boy may not be a saint, but he did not want to take advantage of this stranger. Money in Gotham was everything and to cheat someone by such a large margin did not feel right on the boys conscience. "Hahaha. Don''t worry my boy. This old man has little left in the world. That once belonged to my own child so seeing it come into your possession would be for the best. Not like your corrupted like most of the rest of this blasted city." The child looked confused. His parents on the other hand knew exactly what this stranger meant and nodded their heads as well. Seeing his parents like that the boy accepted without another though and handed over the money. "Hahaha. Take care of that boy. In the future it''ll be of great use to you. Now, why don''t you tell me the name of the one to carry this legacy?" "Evan Corvex, sir!" The boy, Evan, practically yelled in excitement. "Mm. Good man. Now then run along home now. Don''t want to stay on these streets too much longer now do ya." The man gently pushed for the boy to rejoin his parents and go home. The two took evan and gave the man a greaful look for his warning on whatever was going to happen. This is Gotham, any warning is a good warning. Chapter 1 Part 2 Evans parents had been treading the soft line between walking and jogging for a while. The boy was panting from the exertion from having to keep up the pace. It did help though that both were tightly holding on to his hands to make absolutely sure that they were not going to lose him. Gotham had all kinds of threats. The father and mother had seen many crimes that could cause citizens in happier places like Metropolis to vomit, but sadly here it is merely an uncomfortable way of life. With how deeply entrenched the various mob bosses and supervillains were in the cities political and economic society any means of escape was virtually cut off. They will always find those who desert. To be fair though their lives had been pretty good. Many would certainly consider them good luck charms here in Gotham as they were hardly robbed. Only being stolen from once a month is astounding in the darkest city in America. The family was almost in the perfect sweet spot of anonymity. None of the three were particularly good looking, possessing only an average physique. The parents are middle class workers so there was enough money coming in the household to live a good life while not too much that would attract unwanted attention. Finally, none were too into material things.Be it clothes, jewelry, or even furniture. Everything was what any crook would consider "not worth it." Why waste time on them when just 3 floors down on their appartment you could at least find the odd valuable here or there. The most visionally pleasing thing is the necklace their son just bought, but even that was only worth $350 so although unique not worth much to sell. That was one of two reasons why Bill and Mara had allowed their son to purchase his new treasure. The other reason being how polite and welcoming the older British man was.If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. He had that look of someone who was genuinely kind to everyone. Anywhere else in the world that could make people suspicious of ulterior motive, but how could someone survive Gotham without the ability to detect when someone lies. Even if they are skilled the citizens have developed a form of danger sense like prey before a predator when someone who lies often suddenly starts being polite. To say that never triggered in the parents meant either the man was one of the best liars in the whole city, which was a worthy achievement, or he was the real deal. Taking a chance for their child the parents allowed the transaction and could see the beam of innocent light that only children could bring in Gotham. Even the crooks wouldn''t likely kill the small kids who had yet to have their innocence taken away from the death trap of a city they all call home. Not without reason that is. A loud burst of gunfire could be heard behind them as the three descended into the subway, heading home. Any normal child would be frightened, but Evan just looked up at his father and asked. "Dad. Is everyone going to be alright?" The boys father looked at him for a brief moment when the train doors oppened. Pushing him lightly through the dad answered his sons question in a soft voice. "I don''t know. That nice man will be ok though. Don''t worry about him, ok?" The father was looking at him waiting for a response with bated breath. The boy nodded. "Ok dad." Heaving a relieved sigh, Bill looked at the passing walls by the window. He offered a silent prayer to the gentleman that he would be alright and left it at that. He knew that someone who was aware would likely be able to leave the area, but there was still that chance of something going horribly wrong. Thinking for a moment, he leaned down to his sons ear and whispered. "Do not take that out of your jacket until you are in your room. I don''t want you to lose it so quickly ok?" The boy suddenly went stiff with worry that he could lose his new necklace. "Alright dad I will," whispered the young boy. Laughing at his sons act of whispering so loud into his ear he didn''t see some of the stares. The people in the cart were all enjoying the little bundle of sunshine that rarely appears in their daily darkness. The family went about on their train car with a cart full of smiling strangers in this strange world. Chapter 1 Part 3 Reaching the elevator to their apartment complex was the only point when a sigh of relief could be heard. Pressing the button for the 3rd floor cemented a feeling of safety within the walls of the complex that was difficult to find within Gotham. Looking at the clock to see that it was close to dinner time, Mara went to the refrigerator to pull out Evans cake. The father and son pair went about deciding which movie to watch allowing the dessert 5 minutes to thaw. Each got 2 slices to eat throughout the next two and a half hours before getting ready for sleep. Jumping into his bed, Evan was still wearing his new necklace. He pulled the glass sphere to his eye to look at the revolving white and black YinYang symbol. He never noticed that the only thing differing from the Eastern symbol was there were no dots of color in the other. That night, Evan had one of the best sleeps he had ever had.
