《Kana Adventure》 Chapter One: New Waves By Kana Kana Tyrant of Worlds And All Chapter One: New Waves In life there are choices, if you think you want to go outside for the first time in a year then be prepared. There are marvelous things outside, or if you happen to be unlucky on that specific day, then you could get hit in the head by a pot that falls from the third floor of an apartment building; pretty sad way to go, huh? Now, if you were lucky, you could find a few dollars off the ground, but that does not always happen. Instead, you sometimes got to deal with life or... death. I have no experience in writing at all, but I wanted to try my hand at creating a world of my own. This is my first story, and the main character is Kana, who is a lost soul on a path of greatness.
"Ahh, there you are, young one. It was hard finding you among all the other mortals," a voice tinged with amusement stated. " Hmm? Where am I?" I asked feeling strangely weak and groggy. "Where? Well, you could call it the in-between of the universe and all other things, I guess," the voice replied clarifying its words. " Who are you?" "Oh, excuse me. I forgot to introduce myself. I am Max; a 3rd Class Creator; now I''m sure you are wondering what that is, and we will get to that soon. What is your name, little one?" he asked me, sounding worried and a little angry. "My name? It''s...It''s...I- I don''t remember for some reason. What is happening to me?" Clearly, I''m starting to panic. I can''t remember my name, but I do remember walking down the street and seeing an abandoned warehouse. " I wanted to go in out of curiosity and take some pictures to show some friends when-" ¡°When you came on a kidnapping." The voice cut in. ¡°How did he know that?¡± "A perk that comes with the job." The voice laughed at my internal question. How rude! "So, can you explain what is going on here? I''m kinda blind on information here." I''m in a pitch-black space with a weird voice in my head; yup, sign me up for crazy. "Let us start from the beginning. In this universe, there are creators. The sixth class is the weakest. Then you have the fifth class; they are twenty times stronger. Next, are the fourth class, also known as Veterans. They are stronger than the fifth class. After that is third class--like me, known as the Wise Ones, we are forty times stronger than the fourth class. The second class is known as the Ancient Ones. They are forty times stronger than third. For the first class, not much is known except their title. We call them, The One Who Sleeps." The voice paused before continuing. "Sadly, you died saving the little girl. You were stabbed from behind while escaping from the building. We creator¡¯s, choose a specific being with immense talent to do tasks on different mortal plains. Once they fulfill all tasks, they have the option of becoming a creator like me. Congrats, I have chosen you." "Why me?" I asked, trying to control my emotions of the news that I had died. "You were born with a huge amount of soul energy; that is the talent I''m referring to." The voice patiently explained. "What is that?" "You will know soon enough. For now, you only need to choose whether you will be my candidate or not." Well, it couldn''t be that hard, could it? Besides, what choice did I have? "Alright, I accept. What do I need to do?" " With your soul power, you have one middle-tier wish. Mind you, it''s nothing big, like destroying worlds. The most you can have is a strength boost which would make you twenty times stronger than any being under the creator level."This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. "Can I get immortality? That way, I can enjoy all these other worlds as I wish." I always wanted to live forever, and knowing I was already dead made me feel like I was weak. "Hmm, that''s a higher tier wish, but I can take off certain aspects to allow it." "Which aspect?" Hopefully not the good ones. "I will make it, so you don''t age. When I transport you to the next world, choose your age wisely. I will also make it, so you have increased regeneration, but if something destroys your heart and brain, you will die." That was better than I thought it would be. "Now, for your first task. You must go to the world of Wancruna, and kill one of the devil lords." "Why? Are they evil?" "In Wancruna there are devil lords, above them is the devil king, then the emperor. The same rules apply, the king is stronger than a lord, and the emperor is stronger than a king. Your task is to kill a lord. Then you must stay in that world. " The voice remained quiet for a few seconds before it spoke again. "For ten years. If you so choose, you will get stronger by stealing soul energy from beings you kill. You will start with strength a little stronger than an average human, so train hard and well." "Definitely!" I shouted feeling motivated, a new world! This will be exciting! "Good, since you cannot remember your name, I will call you, Kana. Now, all you need to do is decide the age." "I want to be fourteen, so I can be younger than I was in my last life." "Uh, your choice, I guess. Very well, I will see you after your success." ¡°Now remember, the rules are you can only be in that world for ten years. You must kill a lord within that time, or you will fail, and the penalty will be severe." ¡°Where do I find these lords?¡± If I don¡¯t know where they are and fail because of that, it seemed unfair. ¡°Speak with the inhabitants''; they know since they are currently in a war with them. Be cautious, though, do not reveal your abilities for they cannot be trusted.¡± I nodded my head but remained silent. ¡°Well, off you go, young one. Keep your eyes open; it is a world far more different than your last!¡± Max said, with relief in his voice. I wonder why? ¡°You will know once you land in that world,¡± Max replied, reading my inner thoughts again. ¡°Okay, then. I want to see this new world!¡± I replied, getting more excited. ¡°Sending you there right now. Good luck and stay safe, these inhabitants are more dangerous than most of the other races. So, be wary, young one." As Max became silent, a bright white light enveloped me. In Wancruna In the Yoguna Forest, a small bright light appeared. In that light, a human figure appeared. The figure had a left eye that was sapphire blue and a right eye that was ruby red. Silver hair flowed to her shoulders, yet her face was not considered to be perfection. That didn''t matter, though, for her beauty was not comparable to her mere appearance. It was her aura that drew the attention to her. It was cold as a glacier, and her glare was like a honed knife- sharp and deadly. She had the ears of a cat, yet it seemed strangely cute with her cold expression. She stood there looking around after the light faded with a look of confusion on her face. What is going on? She remembered being at the warehouse. The reason she saved that little girl was because she loved children, and the child needed help. She was always arrogant, so she hadn''t waited for assistance. It was a shame she had died instead, but she hoped the child was all right. . Her eyes widened when she remembered Max. ¡°I see, so that is why Max was relieved. He must have been overjoyed to get rid of a menace like me,¡± she said out loud. She was a menace back home. She would insult anyone. And would beat up someone if they made her angry or kill them if she felt they were trash because it was fun, but she did have her limits. She would never break a promise; would never harm a child or her family. Also, she would never hurt an innocent person to the point of tears. Those were her rules. No matter what, you had to put limits in place, or you would never truly control your life. She was stronger than many people she knew; she always thought that her strength was weird at the time but never questioned it. Then she let her guard down that day and was stabbed. She stood there looking around. The air was fresh. This seemed to be a forest but there were no animals around. ¡°I better find shelter.¡± Two hours later, she found a cave that would do nicely since it was the size of a small apartment. Forty minutes later, she had gathered enough foliage and sticks to make a crude-looking bed. She shrugged as she studied it; it was better than sleeping on the stone flooring. She decided she needed to look for food. Knowing she had to be careful of the fruits and berries since they could be poisonous, she opted for meat instead. She needed something sharp for a weapon, though. She smiled as she remembered a pile of nearby sticks she had seen. She could sharpen them with rocks until they shaped spears. While she was making the weapons, she decided that a rabbit was good for dinner. She moved quietly looking for her prey. It took a few hours, but she found what she was hunting for. As quiet as she could be, she raised her spear and brought it down heavily on its neck. The rabbit had no time to escape as it silently fell on its side, motionless. She brought it back to her cave and used a sharp stone to skin off the fur and cut the meat into small portions. After that, she built a fire. Finally, deciding she cooked the meat enough, she set a few pieces on a flat stone to cool. When she took her first bite. ¡°I need to find better meat,¡± Kana softly whispered before shrugging and taking another bite. It was better than starving to death. After eating, Kana decided to train after remembering how to fight from her instructor back home. She first started with push-ups to warm up her muscles. After doing sit-ups, she jogged. Her life became a routine day after day. Kana accomplished many things; she fought bigger beasts such as wolves, hybrid tigers, huge rhinos, and even a drake. She got better at skinning and used the teeth and bones of the drake to make a far more decent spear. She made durable clothes with the rhino hide and drake scales. She also scouted the forest and the surrounding villages. The village of Ruseon was the closest to the forest. The closest city was the capital of Westonia, home of the emperor; also known as the strongest citizen around. She checked her appearance in the nearby river and saw how different she looked. Obviously, she was a cat person. But now, five years had passed, and she had decided it was time to leave the forest and move into the village to gather information. But Somewhere Unknown ¡ ¡°So, the new chosen one has finally decided to leave the forest. Shadow one, watch her. If she poses a threat to our race, end her before she grows stronger." ¡°Yes, Master.¡± Came the reply. ¡°Looks like a new wave is starting, but only time will tell."
Chapter Two: A Change of Pace Chapter Two: A Change of Pace ¡°Man, I knew I should have listened to grandpa and stayed away from the woods," said a boy of about twelve years old. His name was Toru, and he wanted to prove to his friends that he was not a scaredy-cat. He had made a bet to stay in the woods for two hours, and after ten minutes, he was ready to go home. ¡°Those guys are always saying I''m weak. I''ll prove them wrong!¡± Toru says only to shriek when he hears a sound in the distance. ¡°What was that? Please be a squirrel, please God, I''m begging you. Even a rabbit would be fine," he prays out loud. The boy is panicked. A wolf appeared from the foliage looking for prey. It looked starved, so seeing a delicious boy standing there made the wolf lick his jowls. Toru ran as fast as he could move between trees to get away, but the wolf was faster and only took seconds to catch up. The wolf bites straight into Toru¡¯s leg. ¡°Ahhh! No, no, why is this happening to me?¡± Toru cried out as the pain became unbearable. I''m going to die here because of a bet? Suddenly, a voice spoke out from the trees. ¡°Little boy, what are you doing here?¡± As if he found hope, he kicked the wolf off with all of his strength and rushed toward the voice while ignoring the pain he was feeling. ¡°Please help me! You have to save me, please!¡± He begged as he saw a girl a little older than him. Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author. ¡°Little boy no need to run anymore. I¡¯m here, and the big bad wolf won''t get you, okay?¡± Toru did not believe that for a second, they needed to get away now! ¡°You are almost the same age as me! You would get eaten up, come on, let''s run to the village where the adults are!¡± Toru screamed out loud. Kana thought this kid was annoying. ¡°No need to worry; it is only a wolf. I have killed bigger wolves than this for dinner,¡± Kana said proudly of herself. ¡°Yeah, stop your delusions and let''s get out of here!¡± Toru yelled. ¡°Listen here, you stupid brat. My kindness has a limit you know. Keep this shit up, and you¡¯ll go over it, you hear!¡± Kana shouted, finally losing her patience. "This damn brat has no manners at all," Kana thought to herself not thinking about the fact that maybe Toru would be right in other situations. Before Toru could reply, the wolf leaped at him, ready to rip his throat out. ¡°Nooo!¡± Toru screams and closes his eyes. ¡°Huh? No pain?¡± he says to himself and opens his eyes only to see the wolf with its head smashed in; its brain scattered about. ¡°Ugh, I think I''m gonna be sick.¡± His face went green, and he hunched over a bush to throw up all his lunch. ¡°Get used to it, kid. This is what happens when I can''t control my strength,¡± Kana told the boy. That is when Toru finally remembered the one who killed the wolf was this girl. ¡°Eeek! Don¡¯t kill me, please!¡± Toru pleaded to the cat girl. Kana was stunned. "Why would I kill you? I''m a peaceful person, well when I''m not feeling angry that is,¡± Kana told him and after a few minutes he calmed down. ¡°So, what are you doing in this forest kid?" Kana asks Toru. ¡°I''m going home. I don¡¯t want to see any more wolves either.¡± Toru still felt the phantom teeth in his leg.¡± My name is Toru, what is yours?¡± ¡°My name is Kana. Nice to meet you, Toru,¡± Kana replied. ¡°I''m traveling around to see new sights and going to the village. Want to come with? It will be safer for you,¡± Kana offered the kid. Toru nodded enthusiastically. ¡°First, we should check your leg, though,¡± Kana told him, and he sat on the forest floor to pull up his pant leg. ¡°It still hurts right now,¡± Toru replied as he struggled to pull the material up without aggravating the wound. ¡°Here let me patch it up. I have some herbs that will numb your pain right here,¡± Kana said as she applied the herbs on his leg. Ten minutes later. ¡°There, the effects should start working in a minute or so,¡± Kana said, standing up and wiping her fingers off on a cloth. ¡°Let''s go slowly to the village." She started walking. ¡°Wait for me!¡± Toru shouted walking after her. What will happen to this world now that a chosen one walks among it? Who knows, all we can say is that Kana is here and the world better prepare for it. Mayhem Kukuku. Chapter Three: First Village After an hour of traveling, they decided to rest and check on Toru¡¯s leg. After chatting with Toru, Kana found out that the forest she came from was one of the most dangerous because there were powerful dragons and other mythical beings. ¡°So, you live in the forest? Did you see anything scary?¡± Toru asked. Kana replied, ¡°Yes, most of the things I saw or fought were. I have fought werewolves, huge rhinos, and a drake before,¡± Kana said with pride. After checking his leg and seeing the wound had stopped bleeding, Kana and Toru continued walking toward the village. ¡°Yeah, drakes are strong, but they are slow. You wait for them to let their guard down, then strike them in the eyes since their scales are hard to pierce through,¡± Kana replied remembering the time she had slain her first drake. It truly was a challenge. As they were talking, they ended up at the village faster than they thought. ¡°So, this is Ruseon. It looks busy,¡± Kana remarked. The village was well-maintained and even had guards at the front gate in metal armor. ¡°Yeah, my grandpa is the greatest blacksmith,¡± Toru told her proudly. "Best blacksmith, huh? Wonder what he is doing in a small village like this?" Kana thought confused; she decided to ask Toru why. ¡® ¡°If he is the best, why does he not live in the capital? Wouldn''t it be better working for the emperor?¡± . ¡°Well, this is grandpa¡¯s hometown where he first met grandma. After her death, he wanted to stay here to keep his memories of her alive,¡± Toru replied sadly. Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. ¡°Sorry, kid. I didn¡¯t want to make you sad," Kana replied. She didn''t want the kid being down because of questions. ¡°No, it is not a problem. It was a long time ago," Toru remarked clearly with a small smile. ¡°Well, let''s get going. Standing in front of this gate is pretty awkward,¡± Kana told Toru, and they start moving among the villagers. As they neared a building, a guard yelled, ¡°Toru! Where were you? Do you know how worried your grandfather was?¡± The guard looked angry, and from his red face, he seemed tired with red eyes, must have been up all night. ¡°Sorry, Jokou. I was stupid,¡± Toru said to the guard. ¡°Yeah, you were stupid sneaking out of the village and into the forest like that? What were you thinking? We were getting ready to check the forest right now!¡± the guard yelled, attracting a lot of attention to them. ¡°What is going on, Jok?¡± asked a tall man in a metal-plated armor. ¡°Captain, it is nothing. I must take Torus back home,¡± Jokou replied since the kid was the son of his good friend. He wanted to make sure he went home instead of disappearing again. ¡°Of course, but don¡¯t expect to get paid for the time you are gone,¡± the captain replied. ¡°Thank you, Captain,¡± he remarked stiffly. ¡°Let''s go, Toru. Your grandfather is going to skin you alive," he replied, then he noticed Kana. ¡°Who are you? I have never seen you around here before.¡± ¡°I¡¯m Kana, an adventurer who wants to see the world,¡± Kana said confidently. ¡°You look to be about fourteen. Where are your parents'' kid?¡± ¡°I¡¯m not a child; I am twenty-five. I only look young,¡± Kana said, feeling frustrated. "Making myself younger was a bad idea," Kana thought to herself. ¡°Huh, you''re not lying to me, are you?¡± he retorts intensely studying her face. ¡°It is true. I look young, but I am twenty-five. Why won''t you people ever believe me?¡± Kana said a little depressed ¡°Well, I believe you, for now, so what are you doing around Toru?¡± he asked. Before she could say anything, Toru beat her to it. ¡°I was in the forest when this huge wolf came at me. Kana saved me by killing the wolf like it was nothing!¡± ¡°Thank you, Kana, for saving this brat! If he was hurt, the old blacksmith would be devastated,¡± he said to Kana sincerely. ¡°It was no problem. He was lucky I came when I did, or he would have been dinner,¡± Kana replied jokingly. ¡°Yeah, it was a good thing. I think he would have given it indigestion,¡± Jokou said playing along. ¡°Hey guys, could you not say this in front of me?¡± Toru asked, feeling insulted. ¡°Kukuku, HaHaha!¡± Both Kana and Jokou burst out laughing at him. ¡°Guys!¡± ¡°Alright let''s go to Toru¡¯s house before he starts crying,¡± Kana said and they started walking in that direction. While both were still amused, Toru followed behind still sulking. Chapter Four: Rusty Little Thing After a few minutes, they reached Toru¡¯s house. It was a little bigger than the other houses. After knocking on the door, a tall gruff-looking old man appeared. His arms were toned from hammering over the years. ¡°What is it! I told you, I''m not making a single weapon until I get my grandson back!¡± He shouted out angrily. ¡° "Wow, this old man became one of my favorites laying into this guard like nothing." Kana thought to herself. ¡°Old man, it¡¯s me. I was bringing the brat back for you,¡± Jokou said and proceeded to tell the old man about what happened. ¡°Is that so. Thanks for saving my grandson; he is important to me. My name is Yoruga, as a gift for my thanks, you can have one of the weapons in my storeroom. I will show you where it is, what you find there could range from things I made to what I found when I was an adventurer in the past.¡± He gestured for them to follow him. ¡°After all, using that makeshift spear you have won¡¯t do. The wood is far too weak for that drake fang on the tip. It will break against a far stronger foe,¡± Yoruga explained to Kana as he led them to the storeroom in the back. ¡°Thank you. I guess getting a better weapon would be good for me,¡± Kana replied, after all, she did need to get a new weapon, something that wouldn''t always break after a few hits. A few seconds later, they appeared in front of a steel door. ¡°Seems like this place is pretty important to be secured with a steel door like this,¡± said Kana impressed. ¡°Well, can¡¯t let people get their hands on some of these, they are far too dangerous. Certain people may use them for evil; I couldn¡¯t allow that,¡± he said gruffly. ¡°I see,¡± she replied with a smile. The old man pulled out a strangely shaped key and inserted it into the door and pushed it open. ¡°There we go, let us move inside, but be careful, these weapons are dangerous. Some are even soul weapons, so they can attack if they do not accept you.¡± ¡°What are soul weapons?¡± Kana asked curiously. ¡® ¡°Well, they are weapons that can resonate with the soul of another. When it feels your soul is the one, they grow a personality, get stronger, and start changing appearances, but they are picky." Stolen story; please report. ¡°I see,¡± Kana said. ¡°Don''t worry, you will see something you will love to hold as a weapon throughout your life,¡± Yoruga said wisely. Kana smiled and started looking around at all the weapons set on shelves and tables. ¡°Make sure to choose wisely,¡± he said and proceeded to lean on the wall and wait for her choice. "Hmm, I see a black sword with streaks of gold around it, it looks strong. I don¡¯t know why, but I feel that it is not for me." There were several items in the room. A musket, broadsword, baton, bow, and arrow and many others but she did not see anything special she wanted. As she was thinking of giving up, she stopped in front of a simple and efficient knife. It looked rusty and unused. The old man noticed her staring at it. ¡°That knife is a powerful soul weapon. I have not found anyone to use it because of the rejection, so many years have passed with no owner.¡± She reached out to touch it. ¡°Stop!¡± He shouted, but it was too late. A sudden light lit up the room, blinding not only the people in the room but the villagers and a beam of light pierced the overhanging clouds. In the gap between the universe ¡ Max sensed the energy. ¡°She found it far earlier than I thought, was she truly the one?¡± ¡°If that''s the case, she must have the blood.¡± "Interesting looks like this story won¡¯t have a quick ending after all." Max thought to himself. Back to Wancruna¡ ¡°Where am I?¡± Kana asked. ¡°You are in my mindscape,¡± a gentle voice said inside of her mind. ¡°Who are you?¡± Kana asked slowly preparing herself for battle. ¡°I am the knife you touched, no need to be alarmed. I will not hurt you.¡± ¡°So, what do you want?¡± Kana asked. ¡°To ask you one thing. What side do you align with? Evil, good or neutral?¡± The voice asked expectantly. "I have never done real evil, but I haven''t done good all the time. I do whatever I want so ¡ neutral is what I would say, but why ask?¡± Kana asked the voice. ¡°Good! That is what I was looking for in my choice for a partner. They need to be one who is strong in soul, kind to friends, and evil to enemies. They are not controlled by others.¡± The voice exclaimed in excitement. ¡°Then, do you accept me?¡± Kana asked in excitement. ¡°Yes, but know that a powerful being has sealed my powers. I can get my power back if you kill with me, the stronger the kill, the more I recover.¡± ¡°I see. Well, partner, I look forward to fighting alongside you from now on. What is your name?¡± Kana asked. ¡°I have none, so give me one.¡± The voice said expectantly. "Uh, I am not good at naming at all. How about Kuroko?¡± Kana asked. ¡°Kuroko ¡ Kuroko it is. I think I''m going to love having a name!¡± Kuroko replied happily. ¡°Kuroko, I''m glad that you like it, but I will call you Kuko because it is shorter,¡± Kana replied. ¡°Okay!¡± At least she didn''t mind. What is the next move that Kana will make? Will she do something big? Or will she play around in this world to the fullest, then do what is needed? Who knows except her Kuroko? Chapter Five: I Am Now Kana Kuroko! Soon enough the light disappeared, and everyone could see. Yoruga was worried that something had happened to the little girl, but soon enough, he saw Kana. She was now wearing a black and white hoodie, with a blue and red skirt underneath. Her black and white patterned stockings reached her thighs. ¡°Where is the knife?¡± The old man asked. His question was answered when she moved her hand and a knife with appeared. The knife had changed its appearance and now had the logo of a cat with red and blue eyes. The handle was black with a silver blade. ¡°Amazing! You did it, youngster!¡± He exclaimed feeling happy for her to get her chosen weapon. ¡°From now on, my name is Kana Kuroko, the one who will become number one! ¡°Kana exclaimed. ¡°I see. Well, you should look for a job in the capital. That would be the best place to start," Yoruga said calmly. The guard and Toru nodded in agreement. ¡°The capital ¡ that''s where I''ll start my path,¡± Kana said before she started to walk away. ¡°Wait!¡± He calls out. ¡°What is it?¡± Kana asked. ¡°You should sleep here for tonight; it is already dark by now. Get some rest; then you can leave tomorrow.¡± ¡°Okay! Thanks for having me for the night,¡± she responded with a smile. ¡°Good, now let us have dinner. I am sure you and Toru are hungry.¡± They followed him into a room with a table while the guard left to go back to the gates. The old man sees one of the cooks and tells her to start cooking dinner. As they sat at the table to sit, Kana heard her stomach rumble. She realized she was starving, now that food was mentioned. ¡°So, will you use a horse to get to the capital?¡± He asked while they waited for their meal. ¡°Hmm? No, I was going to walk.¡± Kana told him. ¡°Is that not too dangerous? There are many thieves on the roads; you will get robbed if you are not careful,¡± he said worriedly. ¡°It is good for training, there is more to fight when traveling on foot than on horseback,¡± Kana explained to the old man and the boy sitting silently across from her. ¡°Alright if you say so, but do be careful and do not let your guard down,¡± the old man said. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, I won''t,¡± Kana remarked as she promised it to herself also. As they were talking, a cook placed the dinner on the table. "Time to dig in!" Toru exclaimed as he dug into the platers. Kana smiled and helped herself to the platers before silently stuffing her cheeks. Later that night after retiring for bed, Kana snuggled under the blankets. Ahhh, finally a decent bed for once,¡± Kana says with a smile on her face. If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. "Finally, my real journey will begin. I will become number one. There will be no one that will be better than me." Kana thought as she slowly drifted asleep into the world of infinite dreams. Next day ¡ Kana was woken up by Kuko. ¡°Kana, time to wake up. We have a journey, remember?¡± She asked in Kana¡¯s head. ¡°Yeah, yeah. I know. I¡¯m getting up, okay? Geez, you are so naggy,¡± Kana said while getting up. After stretching, she went to look for the old man and the child. After walking around, she saw him sitting on the bench outside. ¡°Hello, I''m leaving now." Yoruga looked into Kana¡¯s eyes and said, ¡°My grandson will be upset he missed you, but I understand you will want to get an early start. Good luck young one, remember to visit, you hear?¡± ¡°Yeah, I will. You can count on it!¡± Kana said, then started walking off. ¡°Geez that kid will worry me to no end,¡± Yoruga whispered to himself with a smile. After walking around and finding Jokou, she said her goodbyes. "All that is left is Toru," Kana thought. ¡°Ahh, there he is!¡± Toru was talking with some kids in the neighbourhood. ¡°Toru! I am leaving now! Bye!¡± Kana shouted out. ¡°Huh? Kana, you are leaving already?" Toru said sadly at her leaving so soon. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, I will come to visit in the future when I can,¡± Kana said to cheer him up. ¡°Good, you better not forget or I will go out and find you!¡± Toru said determinedly. ¡°Well, you better learn to fight first before you find a wolf again,¡± Kana replied, laughing. ¡°Uh, maybe I won''t go out ¡ hahaha, yeah,¡± Toru retorted embarrassed. ¡°Your choice,¡± Kana remarked as she started walking away. ¡°This road should lead to the capital. There are a few villages on the way there, I might as well stop by them on the way,¡± Kana said to herself Forty minutes later ¡ ¡°Hmm? What was that sound.¡± Kana said, ready to defend herself. She stared at the brush in front of her when a rabbit jumped out. ¡°Oh, it was only a rabbit,¡± she remarked before summoning her knife and throwing it to the left to hit a tree branch. ¡°Ow! How did you know?¡± A voice screamed out from the branch. ¡°Looks like I was right,¡± Kana said smugly. "Thank God Kuko can sense others near me or that would have been bad." Kana thought to herself. This person was pretty good; she did not notice him until Kuko suddenly told her someone was following her with hostile intent. ¡°Tell me who you are before I take your head as a decoration,¡± Kana said coldly. This person had bad intentions, so killing him wouldn''t be a problem. ¡°I won¡¯t tell you shit, you bi-¡± Before he finished his sentence, his arm was completely cut off. ¡°Aaaaahh! Fuck! Fuck it hurts!¡± The man cursed, trying to bear the pain. ¡°You should have answered me," Kana said calmly. ¡°Now, once again, who are you? If you answer, I may give you these herbs to numb the pain,¡± she said coldly. ¡°Okay, I got it! I am a bandit in these woods. I''m only a scout; I was gonna follow you and report back to my boss after you went to sleep. Please don¡¯t kill me, I was only following orders, I swear!¡± The bandit pleaded desperately. ¡°Where is your base?¡± Kana asked. ¡°About fifteen minutes to the north, you will see a cave. Our entrance to our base is right there.¡± The bandit spilled all he knew. ¡°I see ¡¡± Kana then took his head off effortlessly. After wiping the blood from her knife, she proceeded to the north and soon found the cave. ¡°I won¡¯t be so stupid as to fight all those bandits on my own,¡± Kana said to herself. She moved the rock and used the power of the knife to start a fire. Soon enough, coughing was heard before she blocked the entrance and waited. Two hours later, she heard no other sounds. Going inside, she looted the corpses and killed any that survived, feeding her knife a little bit more power. ¡°This place is dangerous if I met bandits not too far from the village,¡± Kana nonchalantly said to herself as she started back on the road again. ¡°Well, there are a lot of bandits around these roads. You will not see them the closer you get to the capital," Kuko explained to Kana. " Hey, Kuko? How strong is the emperor?¡± Kana asked hoping for an answer. ¡° ¡°Well, in this world, people have certain ranks. The weakest to strongest are, Novice, Soldier, Fighter, Warrior, Knight, Grand Knight, Sage, Lord, King, Emperor. You are at the warrior level in power," Kuko explained in understandable terms. ¡°I see. So, he is that strong, huh?¡± Kana remarked, wondering when she would be that strong. ¡°No matter, I will be better and stronger than all." She thought to herself. Kana proceeded toward the next village of Kiluark to restock her food and look around Chapter Six: Detour ¡°Hello, little missy. Is this your first time to this small village of ours?¡± Kana heard when was walking to the entrance. Turning to see who spoke, she saw a young-looking woman near the gate. Her hair was red, and she had hazel colored eyes. She wore a kimono with a sword at her waist. Her ears were pointed, indicating that she was an elf. ¡°Yes, I am a traveler. My goal is to be number one!¡± Kana replied confidently. ¡°Oh, that is quite the goal you have there. I am an adventurer who is staying here. I watch the gate for any danger in my free time. My name is, Rulenia, nice to meet you.¡± ¡°I''m Kana. Nice to meet you, Rulenia,¡± Kana told her happily. ¡°Most people I meet call me a kid and doubt me when I tell them that I am a traveler. You seem to not think that way at all.¡± ¡°Hahaha, well, I am an elf. Our lifespan is far more different than other races. I could tell from the way you moved that you are no child, so I deduced that you are far older than you look,¡± she explained. ¡°Good to know,¡± Kana said enlightened. ¡°So, why have you come to the village?¡± Rulenia asked patiently. ¡°I was on the way to the capital and saw this village here. I thought I would stop to replenish my food,¡± Kana explained to her. ¡°If you want, you can stay for a while. All you need to do is kill monsters in the surrounding area to make sure they don¡¯t gather to attack the village. It also makes for good training,¡± she replied. ¡°I wouldn¡¯t mind that. I don''t feel as strong as I should be, so training here before moving on seems like a good idea," she told her. With the elf''s help, she found carpenters to make her a simple, wooden cottage. Two weeks later, they finally finished her house and she loved it. Today, was her first day on the job and she was eager to start. When she headed out, she saw the carpenters moving in her new bed and other pieces of furniture. She smiled and waved to them before heading to the gate. On the way to the gate, she saw many people working and being happy. It made her feel pretty good that she will be protecting them. *Slash* There didn''t seem to be a lot; only ten monsters in all. After making sure there were no monsters left, she went home. Four years later¡ Kana stayed in the village a lot longer than she thought she would. The people there were fun, so she did not want to leave. Although in these four years her simple cottage became bigger. She made a lot of money here as well, but the most important thing was her increase in power. Sage level, killing monsters all day had a strange effect. If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. Today she again went out. ¡°That was number sixty-four, wow, there are a lot of monsters around today, this could be bad,¡± Kana said after killing a hybrid wolf-like creature. "Why are there so many monsters around today? If this keeps up the village could get attacked,¡± Kana said out loud. Rulenia was sitting in the chair outside the gate when she noticed Kana approaching. She stood and walked toward her. ¡°So, how was it today?¡± She asked Kana. ¡°There were a little over sixty; this is more than usual,¡± Kana told her. ¡°A little over sixty? This problem is happening with other villages as well,¡± Rulenia explained. ¡°The king said it is because of the surrounding devil lords starting something. Whatever the case, we should be prepared,¡± Rulenia warned her. "Devil lords, huh? Looks like I found my target," Kana thought to herself. The devil lord she needed to kill may be close, so this could be her chance. ¡°Kana? What is it, you are spacing out?¡± Rulenia asked with concern. ¡°Nothing, only thinking. So, what is the king going to do about this?¡± Kana asked her for more information. ¡°Actually, the king is inviting all of the most powerful people to the capital. They are asking people to join the war, and of course, they get paid for it. There are pretty good positions like teaching the army, or thinking up strategies,¡± she told her. ¡°Then I''ll join,¡± Kana said. ¡°Wait! You can''t, I will be all alone here, it will be sad,¡± Rulenia replied as she pleaded for her to stay. ¡°Fine, I''ll stay one more year, but then I must leave for the capital. There are things I need to do,¡± Kana told her. "Although my power is a little above a lord''s rank, I should be able to handle anything that pops up out of nowhere. Six days later, a familiar face appeared as Kana was walking outside. ¡°Toru, is that you? It''s nice to see you after such a long time,¡± Kana said beaming with a smile. ¡°Kana, is that you? What are you doing here? I thought you would be at the capital?¡± Toru was a little surprised to see his friend, but afterward he became happy. ¡°I stopped here to replenish my supplies, but I ended up staying longer than I thought I would. You have grown quite a bit these past years,¡± Kana remarked. It was true, he did look older, and it looked like he had been training as a warrior. ¡°Yeah, and you have not changed one bit in these four years,¡± Toru told her in a surprising tone. ¡°Wait, you thought I was lying? Why you little brat!¡± Kana shouts angrily. ¡°Woah, calm down. I was only a kid back then, so I did not know! Please have mercy on me!¡± Toru responded with panic in his voice. ¡°Hmm, so what are you doing here?¡± Kana asked him still feeling upset at his mistrust. ¡°I will answer that for you,¡± Rulenia replied out of nowhere. ¡°Knowing that you wanted to go to the capital, I decided to ask someone to help guard the village in your absence. With Toru here, you can go with no worries.¡± "Ahh, that is why she wanted me to stay. She was waiting for Toru to get here before I left." Kana thought to herself. ¡°Thank you, Rulenia. I mean it!¡± Kana exclaimed excitedly. Now the village could be protected while she was gone. ¡°Shouldn¡¯t you thank me, instead. I am the one helping after all,¡± Toru replied. ¡°We will see after you protect the village, brat,¡± Kana said in amusement. ¡°You will see. Every monster will be too scared to come near this village with me protecting this place,¡± Toru boasted. Only the villagers who overheard him were doubtful. ¡°Should we believe this guy? His arms are like twigs. I''ll have my son take over the guard duty,¡± said an old-timer who was the village carpenter. ¡°Good. I have a daughter who can pitch in to help. She is reliable,¡± replied the middle-aged tailor. ¡°Eh, he ain''t too bad. He could help out on the farm, we need people like him," remarks an old farmer. ¡°You looking to kill the kid? He looks like he can barely hold a shovel, let alone working the farm. Take it easy on him, old man.¡± A young farmed laughed out. Toru was so embarrassed his face turned red. ¡°See, you need to look a lot more convincing, brat. Kukuku,¡± Kana gleefully remarked. ¡°I will show all of you! You will see!¡± Toru shouted before stomping away. ¡°Hahahaha!¡± All the villagers started laughing. This was a common thing here since Kana taught them to mess with people. ¡°Well, guys. I will be leaving today, see you later!¡± she called out while walking toward her home to pack what she needed for the journey. Later that day, all the villagers were sad to see her leave, but in the end, they all said their goodbyes with some even crying when she was at the gate to leave. "So, on to the capital. I wonder what it will be like?" Kana wondered to herself as she walked down the path. Will things be fine, or will things go downhill? We will see once she takes that step. Onward to the capital, for things, may never be the same! preview of the next chapters So, this is the capital, so many homeless in the slums from the devils. "I am, Kana Kuroko. I want to sign up for the war!¡± The king was strong, but he was also corrupt. ¡°The war is not going the way we expected; we need new plans!¡± ¡°Use the people of the slums as a decoy and take out their commander!¡± the king coldly ordered. ¡°But there are children there! You can¡¯t sacrifice them like that! Are they not your people!¡± Kana screamed out loud, interrupting the meeting. ¡°Those waste are no people of mine, only tools,¡± the king declared coldly. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. ¡°I formally resign from this job with a fuck you bastard.¡± Kana told the King to his face and walked off. "Should I leave these people to die?" Kana thought to herself as she looked at all the children from the slums playing. "No, I won¡¯t!" ¡°Boss, what are we doing now?¡± One of her newer underlings asked. ¡°If someone picks a fight, kill them,¡± Kana replied. ¡°But what about the soldiers of the kingdom?¡± he asked with confusion. ¡°Like I said if they pick a fight, then no matter who they are ¡ kill them!¡± She shouts coldly. ¡°Ooohhh, smart boss!¡± ¡°Yeah, the boss is the best!¡± "I''m so glad I followed you!¡± ¡°Kana stop this right now. You are messing up the king''s plans, are you planning to rebel?¡± One of the generals remarked. ¡°Rebel? I guess I am!¡± ¡°You traitor!¡± ¡°Mama?¡± ¡°Uh, how the hell did I get stuck with a daughter?¡± Kana shouts out loud in despair. Chaos is an interesting thing, isn¡¯t it? Chapter eight: The Capital (Edited) It had been two hours since Kana left Kiluark, on the way she met a few wild animals and monsters, but they were no match for her in the end. Though on the way to the capital, she did see a small village devastated with homeless. ¡®Is the king not helping these people at all?¡¯ she thought to herself. Kana wanted to help, so she went up to a few of the children and handed them some bread and dried jerky. "Here, eat up," she said, handing it to the cautious children. Seeing the bread and jerky, they could not hold themselves back from taking it and stuffed themselves until their cheeks looked bloated. ¡®So cute!¡¯ thought Kana, seeing them eat like little monkeys. ¡°Thanks, big sis!¡± says one of the little girls of the group with tears in her eyes. ¡®Big sis? I could get used to this,¡¯ she thought to herself, thinking that she loved that name. "No problem, little one," Kana replied with a soft smile. They shyly waved goodbye before running toward a small, ruined building. ¡°Geez," Kana whispers, shaking her head sadly, wondering if that was where they lived. She once again starts moving toward the direction of the capital. Two days later ¡. ¡°So, this is the capital, huh?¡± Kana looked at the massive gate. ¡®Must have cost a lot to build,¡¯ she thought. Walking toward the gate, a guard suddenly stopped her. "Stop!" he shouted. "What is your business here?" "I''m here to join the military. Can you tell me where I should go? " Kana asked him. ¡°The military? We don¡¯t need brats like you; go back home and stop joking around kid,¡± the guard said, disdainfully. ¡®What did he just say?¡¯ " What did you call me? Say it again and see what happens!" Kana shouted out, attracting the gaze of the other guards and drawing the townspeople''s attention. "What is going on over here!" shouted a stern-looking, middle-aged man as he approached. "Sir, this kid says she wants to join the military, but look at her, she is a child! She couldn''t even lift a sword, let alone fight!" the guard explained to his superior. "Hmm, I see. Kid, you say you wanna fight, but can you?" the man asked with a shred of doubt on his face. "Yes, I can. I have fought multiple monsters in the forest, handled a few demons as well. It was nothing at all!" Kana retorted smugly toward the man. The stern man looked her up and down. ''Her arms seem quite toned, and the way she carries herself shows she has had her fair share of fights in her life. Her eyes seem to shine with determination,'' he thought to himself. "We can let you try if you can beat one of our best soldiers," the man said. "Huh? Sir, she is only a child, do you need to have her fight? She could get hurt pretty bad!" one of the other more kinder guards said. "Don''t worry; I can do it with no problem!" Kana replied and proceeded to walk with the stern man to the area where the guards trained. "Here we are. Kyle, get over here!" the man shouted. Soon enough, a tall, buff man stood in front of them. "Yes, General?" he replied after saluting. "You are to fight little Kana here to see who wins," the general commanded. "She is a child, General. I don''t think I could fight a kid, no matter what!" Kyle replied, not wishing to harm the girl. "Are you disobeying orders?" the general shouted aggressively. ''His strength is at a Grand Knight level, it seems,'' Kana thought. ¡® "Sir?" Kyle replied while Kana could see the conflict on his face. "Don''t worry about me. I can handle most people I fight with," Kana reassured him. "Are you sure?" Kyle asked her reluctantly. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. "Positive, although I look like a kid, I''m actually around thirty years old. I don''t age like other people," Kana explained to them patiently. "Oh, then I don''t need to hold back. Let us fight a fair and good battle!" Kyle told Kana with determination in his voice. Afterward, we moved into the arena and readied ourselves. "No killing allowed. If one gives up or is unable to continue, the fight is over," the general remarked, not wanting to deal with the aftermath of a death. If a warrior were to die, that would mean a loss to the army, but if this unknown person were to die, knowing nothing of her background could bring unnecessary complications. "Begin!" the general shouted while the remaining recruits crowded around the arena to watch the fight between one of their best and an unknown The second he shouted the command, Kyle rushed forward at an alarmingly fast speed. When he got closer, he swung his right arm to strike her weapon with his sword, aiming to disarm her and end the fight quickly. But the expected sound of the clashing weapons did not come. Looking around, he noticed the girl seemed to have disappeared. "Where did she go?" Kyle whispered aloud. Suddenly, Kyle felt the need to move to his right, at the same moment, the girl appeared to his left, her dagger lighting up with a silver shine. *Whoosh* the blade slashed through the air, the wind pressure alone slicing his cheek. ''This girl! She is stronger than I thought, maybe a grand knight like the general,'' Kyle thought, seeing the speed, power, and finesse in her movements. ¡®She''s trained in fighting, so she may not be lying about being older than she looks because that is not the strength of a fourteen-year-old.'' "You better move faster because if you stay this slow, you will end up black and blue," Kana smugly declared. She had taken it easy on him so he would not lose the match immediately, but now she would get more serious since he looked at her as an equal opponent. '' Even I could not track that speed, she is above grand knight, maybe sage?'' the general thought to himself, watching the fight closely. Kyle knew this girl was stronger than him and suspected he would lose, but he still wanted to fight such a strong person. "Alright, let us go all out!" Kyle shouted, manifesting an aura of determination. "It looks like you are going to try now. I''ll end this quickly for you," Kana told him with a smug smile on her face. Kyle growled at her remark. ''No matter how powerful she is, I will not let her make a fool of me.'' He lunged forward while swinging his sword again. "What happened?" Kyle gasped out in shock before he fell to the ground, unable to move a single finger. "What did she?" he whispered before he passed out. "What happened?" a guard in the crowd whispered to the man next to him. He shook his head, bewildered like everyone else. The general was the most shocked. ''I must report this to the higher-ups; her fighting level is hard to find. This would be good news for humanity,'' he thought to himself before yelling out, ""Kana wins the match!" All the recruits cheered and started asking her what she did and how she got so strong; in the end, Kana got annoyed and told them, "Shut up, I''m trying to tell you, but you won''t let me answer!" she shouted, silencing the people around her As they waited for her to talk, she turned toward the general and asked, "So, can I join the military?" "Yes, but you should go to the castle and tell them you are. With your power, they would accept you there, and you will be far more valued," the general nicely explained. Kana looked at the recruits who were still waiting for her to answer them. "I see. Well, I beat him because I am awesome! Toodles!" she said before turning to rush off before they asked more questions, and she felt the need to kill them due to annoyance. "Huh? Wait, that was not an answer! Come back!" yelled a recruit. Kana ignored them as she continued to walk and take in the sights. She saw merchants selling food, some selling weapons, and many other things around the city. In the end, she stopped at an inn to rest. After walking inside, she saw a desk in the middle of the room. There didn''t seem to be many guests hanging around from what she could see. Shrugging, she walked up to the girl sitting at the desk. "Hello, welcome to the Moon Dream Inn. How many days would you like to stay?" the girl asked politely. "I will stay for three days for now to get a look around the city, how much would it cost?" Kana asked her. "That will be sixty collins," the girl replied with a smile. The currency here was strange to Kana, but due to the bandits in the forest, she looted a few thousand collins that she stored with her knife. "Here you go," Kana replied as she reached into the pouch at her waist to pull the money out. She handed them over, and the girl told her which room was hers. "Here it is, room 4A," Kana said aloud as she opened the door and walked in. "Doesn''t look too bad here," she stated as she walked over to sit on the bed. She thought about what she would need to do next. The first thing to do was to go to the castle and talk with the king. She needed to kill a devil lord because she had a short time remaining to complete the mission. After Kana thought her plans through, she went to sleep on the soft and comfortable bed. "Kana! Wake up, we got things to do!" yelled Kuko in her mind. "Jeez, Kuko. I''m starting to think that you are an alarm clock that wakes me at the worst times!" Kana mumbled, feeling exhausted and energetic at the same time. "Uh, what is an alarm clock?" Kuko asked curiously. "It is nothing, Kuko, nothing at all," Kana said, too tired to explain. Kana got up and quickly washed up before she headed downstairs. "Miss, would you like breakfast?" says the girl from the desk. "Yeah, I am a little hungry," Kana replied as her stomach growled. "Please take a seat; we will have breakfast prepared soon," she replied as she went to tell the cooks. Kana walked to an empty seat and sat down. Ten minutes later, a man appeared and sat on the seat next to hers. "Sup," Kana said, trying to be friendly, something she can be both good and bad at. "Hmm? Hello, what are you doing in this place? Don''t you know that the war will start soon? It is best to leave the capital since it should be the first place attacked," the man kindly told Kana. " I am here to join the war. I am going to the castle today to apply, " Kana stated to the kind man. "Kid, the war is not a game. If you are not prepared, you could die!" the man stated sternly. Although he looked around twenty-three, he seemed older. ''He must not be human,¡¯ Kana thought to herself. "I will be fine, I am older than I look," Kana stated while pouting, she wasn''t a child! "Hahaha, you look like a child to me. Of course, I have lived over four hundred years in this cruel and hateful world. I have seen the terrors along with the blessings," the man stated. ''Over four hundred years?'' Kana thought, looking at him in shock. "Let me tell ya something, kid. This place can be cruel. Most people think the emperor rank is the strongest, but there are seventeen emperor ranks right now and three hero kings." Kana was stunned, what was a hero-king? And who was this man? The man must have seen her shock, and he started to explain. "The hero-king is a higher rank than the emperor, but they don''t show themselves to the world. There are three factions here, girl. The first is the humans, they have five emperor ranks, and a hero-king, the so-called human king is not the true leader, he only manages the kingdoms." He stopped to see if she had any questions before he continued. "The next faction is the Devils; they have five emperors and a hero-king as well. The last faction is the Spacewalker race; they have seven emperors and a hero-king as well. They invaded this world nine years ago. This war is between the devils and spacewalkers," the old man stated, finally finishing his story, and blasting my feeble mind with this ton of information. ''The fuck? So, I am not the strongest, after all? Wait, those things invaded nine years ago? That is around the same time I came here, and if this is true, which side is this man on?'' Kana thought about the information she gained. "Uh, which side are you on?" Kana asked him, hoping to not fight this dude. "Hahaha, don''t worry, my race is not allied with them. I was sent to watch after you by my master; he told me to protect you since you are chosen and can help this world," the man replied with a smile, but I could feel that some of his words were lies. While we talked, the food came, and she started devouring it in seconds, while the man watched with a smile. "Well, it was nice meeting you," Kana remarked as she got up and ran away in record time. "Hahaha, that kid. At first, I was ordered to kill her, but after watching her these past years, I could not bear to do it. Somehow, I started thinking of her as my own child. Protecting you, making sure nothing happens to her. Kid, I hope that this world will not get to you, and you can always be yourself." the man whispered to himself with a smile as he started to fade away into the shadows. Chapter Nine: Mysteries Uncovered "Uh, Kuko, how did you not sense the guy who approached me?" Kana asked, waiting for an answer. "It is because his power is high. Do not anger him, or we could die!" Kuko warned; she did not want to fight the powerful man. "Okay, and why did you not tell me of this hero-king rank?" Kana asked, feeling frustrated since she was not told these things earlier. "Oh, well, to tell the truth, I have been sleeping for the last seven hundred years. The world can change a lot in that time, you know, how was I supposed to know that new ranks would be made at that time?" Kuko explained. "I see. Well, I will let it go this time, but next time, you will get punished!" Kana stated clearly as if it was a fact. "Ugh, yes, partner," Kuko accepted, seeing how cruel her partner could be. Thirty minutes later, she appeared at the castle. It seemed like the general had told them about her coming because the guards let her pass without saying a word or trying to stop her. "Thank you!" she said smugly as she walked past. In the castle, Kana saw a golden chandelier, and the windows had red curtains. Soon enough, she found a huge set of double doors that had a design of a dragon on each side with a crown in the middle. ''So, this is the door to the throne room. It looks quite intimidating. Well, I''ll enter, I guess,'' she thought as she looked for a nearby guard. Upon entering, she walked up to a guard who was approaching her. "Hello, I am here to see the king, " Kana politely told him. "The king is seeing someone. You can see him next; please take a seat, "the guard said. "Alright, thank you," Kana said, and went to sit down. "No problem," the guard said before returning to his post near the door. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it ''I wonder what the king is like?'' Kana gathered her thoughts while waiting for her turn. "Kuko, is anyone watching me?" Kana whispered to Kuko. "There are four, three of them are hidden in the ceiling. They look like guards for the king. The last is that man from the inn," Kuko stated clearly. "Huh? I thought you could not sense him, though?" Kana asked, confused. "He is letting me sense him; he is even waving at me right now," she said, thinking the situation was ridiculous. "I see," stated Kana. As they talked, twenty minutes had passed before the guard told her to go in. Kana stood and walked toward a side door; she pushed it open and walked in without hesitation. After she walked in, she heard a voice speak loudly, ¡°Who are you?" "I am, Kana Kuroko. I want to sign up for the war, your highness," Kana stated to the man on the throne, confidently. "I see, welcome. How strong are you in terms of rank?" the king asked. "Around sage level," Kana stated, her true strength was at lord level, but she did not tell him because she did not trust him yet. "Good, you can join. The guard outside will take you to get a post that will suit you. Glad to have you join us." he stated coldly before dismissing her with a wave of his hand ''This king does not seem to be nice; he rushed me a little too quickly,'' Kana thought as she started to walk away. When she reached the guard, he took her to a building and left her with a few men standing around. "Hello, I''m here because the king wanted me to come here for a position that suited me?" she stated to one of the men. "Oh, yes, your position will be decided by your strength and skill. Being a general in this war is not impossible, but it will be pretty hard to accomplish," he stated. " I wanted to ask if there is a position where I can fight as many enemies as I like?" Kana asked. "Well, we do have a few positions like that, but it is dangerous. Your duty would be to go straight into the devil base to weaken the enemy as much as you could. This would lead to fights against far stronger beings," he explained. He stared at her a moment before adding, "But due to it being so dangerous, the pay is great. They also give you potions for healing your wounds faster to keep fighting." "I would love that job; it would be perfect for me!" Kana replied. "Alright, what is your level of strength?" he asked as he walked over to a desk to sit down. "I am around Sage level in strength," Kana stated. "Well, you''re in luck. We still have room for this unit, only three people signed up so far. With your strength, you would be the team leader," he said as he handed her a small red and black card. ''Team leader is a good position to have, so I guess this is perfect, ` Kana thought to herself while proceeding to grab the card. She looked at it curiously, wondering what it was. She looked at the man with a confused look. "That card is your team card. It is made of a special material that matches your imagination, so it can have any design you want. You must have the name of your squad on it, so we know who you are, though," he explained politely to Kana while asking her for her team name. "The team name will be Heaven''s Lost Song!" Kana shouted with excitement. "Okay, let me input it really quick," he said as he wrote down the name of the team along with the members. "Alright, your team members are waiting in that brown tent outside." When she walked outside, she noticed a brown tent in a secluded area away from the others. It looked smaller than the others and wondered if it was because of the small number of members? Chapter Ten: Weird and Crazy New Friends "I wonder who my subordinates are?" Kana said softly as she approached the tent. "Maybe crazy people, only they would take a job like this," Kuko said to Kana with amusement lacing her voice. "Are you calling me crazy?" Kana yelled out, attracting the attention of the people in the tent. "Who is there!" demanded a young voice. "We will talk about this later, Kuko," Kana whispered with an evil smile. "Wait, I''m sorry. I didn''t mean it!" Kuko screamed. "Please, no spankings.¡± Kana entered the tent and saw three people. One was a young man around eighteen with brown eyes and black hair. He wore the clothing of a nobleman, and his face had a strange black flower tattoo. , The next person she saw was a girl around her height with brown hair and green eyes. She was wearing a robe and held a small stuffed toy in her arms. Last was a man who looked forty. He wore a butler outfit and held a dagger but let down his guard once he saw her. Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon. ''He must be that young man''s butler,'' Kana thought. "Who are you, kid?" the young man asked her rudely. "Who am I, you ask?" Kana said slowly, "I am your new boss, so bow before me, weaklings!" Kana said, laughing inside to herself. "The hell, you say!" the young man yelled. His first thought was to pummel this little girl to a pulp and feed her to the fishes. "Young master, be careful, she must be strong," the man whispered in his ear. At first, he also thought she was only a little girl, but something told him that she was stronger than she looked. "Really, but she looks so young?" the young man said, forgetting about the others in the tent. "Let''s introduce ourselves before we do anything else, okay?" Kana said as kindly as she could. "I''ll go first," the young man said." My name is Faendal, son of a minor nobleman. I come from a small town to the west, and my strength is at the knight level, " he said proudly. "I am, Kreaul, his butler in charge of protecting him. It is nice to meet you, young lady," he said kindly. Then there was silence as everyone looked toward the other girl in the room. "My name is, Orina," she said, keeping it short. "Well, nice to meet you all. My name is, Kana, and I''m your new leader since I am at the sage level," Kana said with excitement. "Sage level? Why would you go with a job like this? It doesn''t pay as much as some higher jobs," the young man said astonished. "Because I wanted to kill a lot of demons, and this was the best way," Kana told him. "Now, we can talk more about ourselves later; for now, let us rest. We must be prepared for a massacre. Sleep well, guys. I sure as hell know I will," Kana said, walking toward the exit. "Oh, make sure to be ready at dawn," she remarked before proceeding toward the inn she was staying at. "Young master, let us return as well. We need to prepare ourselves since this job is not easy," Kreaul said, leading Faendal outside. "Her soul seems far stronger than any I have ever seen¡ interesting," she said as she disappeared. Chapter Eleven: New Information and Freedom! Kana was suddenly awakened by a strange sound. She heard it again as she slowly opened her eyes. Her eyes widened when she found herself in a different room. ''Was I kidnapped?'' she thought, bringing up her knife from underneath her pillow. ''This place looks familiar,'' she thought. "Finally, you woke up," a familiar voice told her. ¡°Max, why am I here, did I die again?¡± Kana asked sadly. "No, child. You have not died. I brought you here to tell you a few things of importance," he stated seriously. "Other creators seemed to have interfered in the world I sent you to, most likely to capture you. They are the spacewalkers, and they need your soul to do vile experiments. I did not notice this until a short time ago," he said slowly with anger in his voice. "Uh, so what is going to happen then?" Kana asked curiously. "We will beat them at their own game! They caught me off guard because I was not expecting it, but now it is time for revenge!" Max said with hatred. "From now on, you have no time limit. You must train hard and destroy the spacewalkers. They will be important to increasing your power," Max declared. "Really? Yay, now I can have more fun!" Kana said in joy. "Yes, you can, but remember, others are hunting you, so be careful. I will give you a little help since they were scheming against you first," Max said, enjoying this. "It seems you have gained more soul power. Make a wish child, any wish you need," Max said to Kana slowly. "Any wish, huh, then I want¡" Kana sat there thinking. ''What do I want? Freedom, power, love? No, what I want is to see new things and live new lives.¡¯ "You told me that after I''m done with this world, you would bring me to another one. Instead, I wish that I had the power to travel to any world I wanted to, and if I could start as a baby or a teenager, I would!" Kana stated clearly. It was a strange wish, but she always wanted to live different lives in different worlds. "I can do that; I will also give you immunity to poison or disease since your wish was not that big," Max said. He pointed his hand toward her, and a strange light enveloped her body, after ten seconds, the light faded, and she felt strangely stronger. "When you travel to a new world, time will be stopped on your current one. Of course, that is only because your current world is weak. A stronger world would have its time slowed or would have no effect at all," Max explained kindly before a light enveloped her again. You could be reading stolen content. I hope you grow faster, they are planning something, and I can''t protect you forever," Max said silently, remembering something from millions of years ago. "Ow, my head hurts!" Kana shouted out. "Gah, the pain!" she yelled before she sat on the floor and waited for it to go away. "Kana, what happened? Why are you suddenly yelling out?" Kuko asked with concern. "It is nothing," Kana replied, gritting her teeth through the pain. "Are you going to be okay?" "She is alright," a random voice said out of nowhere "Don''t be too overjoyed, girl. I am here because Max wanted me to help you since he can''t always be there for you. Once the pain subsides, I''ll tell you why I''m here. For now, stop screaming like a little bitch, you are hurting my ears," the voice said rudely. ¡®How dare he call her a- ¡®¡°Gah, it is back again!" she yelled out in pain. Two hours later¡ "I am fully recovered. Yay, no more pain. Thank you, whatever god there is!" Kana said joyously. "Yeah, yeah, that is great, now time for introductions, though I would love to leave you if I have to keep seeing you squirm like the worm you are, ¡°the rude voice said in her head "You bastard! What did you call me? You wanna go, huh?" Kana said, finally snapping. "I am complaining to Max the next time I see him for sending me such an asshole!" Kana snarled out. "Whatever, my name is Kopurete. Max sent me to give you information and help," Kopurete said displeased. "Now, you know Max gave you more powers, right? Well, I''m here to help you understand those powers," Kopurete said seriously. Kana stood there listening intently to what was said, while Kuko was confused about what was going on. "Now, whenever you kill a being, your soul power gets stronger. Now by itself, this soul power has little use, but if we use imagination and a little bit of creation power, we can turn that into something else that embodies you," Kopurete stated. "I see," Kana told him. "Looks like you are not dumb, after all," he snarled as her face twitched in anger. "I am also here to tell you how much soul power you have in case you want to know. You currently have twenty-seven,¡± Kopurete said to Kana. "Huh? I thought I used it all when I asked for these extra powers from Max?" Kana asked, confused. "You did not. Listen here, although soul power may not seem important, you must remember to have at least one in your body, or you will die, but don''t worry, we will monitor them for you, "Kopurete said, making her understand that she was a little reckless, and those wishes did come with consequences. "I see¡" Kana said, finally understanding when Max said he couldn''t give her full immortality. It was because she could have died if he attempted to do so. "Max gave you a little of his own soul power for that wish, you know. Even creators need soul power to increase their powers further. That is why others want to capture you," Kopurete said, letting her know more important details. "You are special, girl. Every other living being can only get soul power from either the faith of their believers or taking it from others. You are different because when you kill, you take one hundred percent of their soul power. Even creators cannot do this except one other person who disappeared years ago,¡± Kopurete told her. "I see, I need to be careful then, well, at least I don''t have a time limit anymore. Now I can truly have fun," Kana said with joy in her voice. "Don''t relax your guard, girl. Anything could happen in this world. Now I will be sleeping, wake me when you need any powers or other help," Kopurete said before his voice went silent. "So, are you gonna explain anything?" Kuko asked after Kana appeared back in her room. So, Kana spent the next few minutes explaining many things and getting Kuko off of her back, for now. "Now then, off to the tent for our mission!" Kana said, bolting out of the door. Chapter Twelve: The Start of Planning A few minutes later, she appeared in front of the tent. "Looks like I got here early, no one else seems to be here," Kana said while looking around. She sat on a chair and waited while thinking over the information she got earlier. ''I gotta keep killing my enemies now that I have the knowledge that I can keep getting stronger,'' Kana thought. ''This war helped me more than I thought.'' Suddenly she heard a noise from outside. "Finally, they are here," Kana said, ready to give them a mission that would have them in a huge pickle but would get them richer than ever. Soon enough, three people walked into the tent and sat on the other chairs, waiting for Kana to speak. "Now then, who has information on the enemies; I was too lazy to study," Kana said shamelessly to her subordinates. "I don''t even know how you could be our leader when you are like this," Faendal said sarcastically. "You wanna see how I became your leader?" Kana asked threateningly. "Ugh, whatever. Right now, the world is split into three parts. The north is the spacewalker territory, the east is the demon race territory, and to the east, are the humans," Faendal explained reluctantly. "The closest demon camp is around the human border from what I know. There are at least five hundred demons in that camp, most are only at the soldier fighting level, but they do have fourteen warriors and seven knights. It seems like there are two grand knights as well," Faendal explained. "The best camp to attack is one that is a little further away; it was already attacked and weakened. They are still waiting for reinforcements. If we attack now, we can take them out with only one hundred soldiers left, and most of them wounded," Faendal said, then went silent and looked toward Kana looking for her answer. "I see, then let us fight against the stronger camp. I don''t wanna go after the leftovers of others," Kana stated to everyone. "Are you sure? Even though we have more strength, they have more in terms of numbers," Faendal asked a little concerned. "I am sure of it; does anyone have anything to say?" Kana remarked. "I agree, but I will prioritize protecting my young master if that is alright with you?" Kreaul asked Kana. "That is fine; you may do what you wish," Kana said, she didn''t care if he did not fight since she wanted more soul power anyway. Anyone else?" Kana asked. Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. "I am with you," Orin said, then she went silent. Everyone then looked to Faendal. "Ugh, fine, but if we end up in trouble, I am blaming all of you guys," Faendal said, giving up. "Good, it is settled. Now, where is this camp at?" Kana asked. Thirty minutes later, they left the tent. "We will meet here tomorrow. Everyone gather the supplies I put on your lists," Kana said then immediately walked off. "Let us go, young master," Kreaul stated, and the master and butler left the scene to complete their chore. "Her soul power is weaker now; I wonder what happened exactly?" Orina said to herself before fading away. "Now then, time to get supplies. First, I need to check the shops around here," Kana said, then started looking around the city. ¡°Kana! That shop right there!¡± Kuko suddenly yelled. "Over there?" Kana said and looked over. What she saw was a weird store looking like something she would find in a modern city. It looked out of place; there was a sign that said, Soul Shop. "Oh, interesting. I did not expect one to be here," Kopurete stated suddenly. "You are awake? What is that place for it to even have you surprised?" Kana asked. "That is a shop that takes soul power as payment. There was another way to get soul power, which is for someone to give their soul power to others, but the one giving can''t be forced. This place has good things most of the time; you can use a little of your extra soul power to get something good," Kopurete said, then once again went to sleep. "I see¡" Kana replied before walking toward the shop. *Ding *Ding *Ding ¡°Welcome!¡± said an old voice. Looking up, Kana saw an old man with gray hair and wrinkles on his hands and face. Looking closely, she saw that he was blind. ¡°Hi, there!¡± Kana said. "Is there something you wanted? For you to come into my shop means you have soul power to buy something," the old man stated. He smiled with excitement. "If you want anything specific, then ask me, and I will see if we have it," he added before he sat on a chair and waited. Kana thought about what she needed¡ ¡°That¡¯s it!¡± Kana yelled. "Hmm? You what something?" the old man asked kindly. "Yes, I want something to save my life when in danger!" Kana stated. "I see, hold on," the old man said, then went outback. Five minutes later, he came back with a small box in hand. He opened the box, and a bracelet was inside. "This is a substitute bracelet. If you suffer from a wound that would normally kill you, it will take the damage for you. Once it is used, it will break, so it is a one-time thing," the old man told her. "Okay, I will take it." Kana accepted, and the old man proceeded to take twenty-five soul powers from her. "Glad doing business with you; do come again," he said, then gave Kana the box before he sat back on the chair, waiting once more for another customer to come. ''I can kill more demons to get my soul power back. As long as I keep some on me, I won''t die,'' Kana thought to herself as she walked out. "Now I have to finish getting the things on my list. I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow; I can''t wait!" Kana said excitedly about the next day. Somewhere else¡ "General! We have information from the capital!" a small demon yelled. "What is it?" an evil voice said. "They will attack our camp soon! It seems they think we only have two grand knights. They don''t know you came today," the small demon replied, telling the general what he heard from their spy in the capital. "Oh, really? Interesting, I guess I won''t be bored, after all," he said with a smile filled with malice. "Of course, with your powers of a lord, they don''t stand a chance!" the small demon told him stroking the general''s ego. "Go! I need to prepare for tomorrow," the general ordered as he pulled out a map and ignored him. The smaller demon bowed before reluctantly leaving the room in a hurry.
