《The Coming of the Storm Dragon》 Chapter One: The Birth of a True Storm The sky was dark and stormy. It covered the endless sky and as the moon reached its highest peak lightning struck down towards the earth and a booming thunder followed. Not even the crickets would dare chirp. Where the lightning struck there was a single egg. It was a special egg, for within the egg lay a dragon: Ba-Ra-Zul. The only memory of his parents was them speaking it. He had not been born but he knew this to be his name. He knew that his parents left him. he, and he alone would have to take care of himself. As his conscience grew he became more aware of his surroundings and the first thought entered his mind ¡®food¡¯. I awake and silence followed. ¡®I must be really great¡¯. The animals had never been silent. There was no moment he could recall when absolute silence filled these forests. ¡®Hmm I feel like my egg would be very nutritious.¡¯ I shall listen to my instincts. They feel as if they were lessons given to me by my parents in their absence. As I nibbled on my shell I felt as though the power of a thunderbolt entered me. I could feel my body change to attune to this¡ power. It takes at least 30 minutes to finish my egg but it was probably longer since I have no real sense of time. But hey whatcha gonna do? I knew very little of this world. I knew that dragons, especially young ones, were valuable to the intelligent races. So I must be wary even the beasts that dwell in this forest would hunt me down. They fear me growing older, dragons are naturally a higher race then other beasts. Dragons are questionably the most powerful race in the world. Now, lets see what I can do with this tiny body.If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. The squirrel sitting on a branch looking up towards the top of the hill. He overlooks this area and watches as a young dragon, leaps over the crescent of the hill frantically flapping his wing only to receive a face full of dirt as he tumbled down the hill. It was amusing to watch a dragon fail so badly at flying. He decided to watch this specimen. As I tumbled down the hill I could only think at how dumb I must look. Rolling down the hill like some sort of idiot. As I reconsidered my body from being all mighty to a pitifully weak child. In this world monsters could age naturally or evolve by completing feats and other extraordinary achievements. Now, I''m still hungry. Let''s look for some food because the egg was so not fulfilling. So I guess i¡¯ll just wander around for now but why does it feel like i¡¯m being followed. It was so worth it. This dragon is so clumsy. I swear it trips on every root it finds. I almost feel out of the trees twice from laughter. He looks so scared haha if only he knew it was a squirrel. Who was causing all his fears. What is following me? Is it going to eat me or something? Does it just want to toy with me? Ahhhh! This sucks! I looked back to look for my oppressor and subsequently fell on my face when my foot got caught on a stump. I shrieked out ¡°Skree!¡± I heard a thump behind me and turned around in fear. Had my oppressor finally come to finish me off? There was no big bad scary monster however it was just a squirrel! I was furious this squirrel was my tormentor ¡®I swear i''ll eat you!¡¯ I turned around charging towards the squirrel. This squirrel would die if it was the last thing I did! Chapter two: The First Death I continued my mad dash towards the squirrel. I could see the fear in his eyes. ¡®I shall eat you!¡¯ The squirrel quickly looked for the tree it had just fallen out of. It started racing towards the great oak with mad speed, well compared to my stubby little legs. It was fast. ¡®Damn he¡¯ll get away! This thing¡ this thing shall die.¡¯ And a stream of lightning blasted out of my face. It was warm but not burning. It was a pleasant sensation and the feeling ended as soon as it started. I looked up towards where the squirrel had been. There was a slight burn mark on the tree and at the bottom of the tree was a squirrel on its back twitching madly as if it was still trying to climb the tree but his tiny little paws found no hold on the great oak tree only open air filled his little paws. Baz-Ra-Zul approached the squirming squirrel cautiously as if even the slightest sound would release it from its electrified state. As I approached the squirrel a warm scent filled my nostrils. It smelled like cooked meat. why I knew this I had no clue. I could hear my stomach growling so I decided to indulge it. The squirrel had a stringy taste and it was hairy so not a great first, sorry, second meal but it filled me up so I was happy. My shins were sore from tripping all the time, I felt as though sleeping in the open would be a bad idea. so I finally shall listen to my instincts. But where to sleep? I started to look around but I honestly had no idea what I was looking for exactly. I gave up and decided to try and climb a tree. Lets just say there were a few pathetic minutes of me trying to climb but I always ending up on my ass. Boy was I sore but I finally figured out my wings could be used to climb, sort of. I got up the tree, but by no means was it graceful. I sat atop a branch, the sun finally starting its long rise to its summit and I slowly fell asleep. The rays of light were being replaced by shadow and I slowly lifted myself off the branch but somewhere in this whole process I seemed to have forgotten where I was sleeping because when I attempted a morning stretch I lost my balance, and no mad wing flapping was going to save me. I tumbled down towards the earth I landed with a crunch on top the pile of bones that I had left over from the squirrel. It did very little to aid my fall. I felt sore and bruised but nothing more ¡®WHY DO I KNOW ALL THIS STUFF?!¡¯ There was no one to answer my question so I simply started to wander on the forest floor. I walked without a care in the world. I¡¯m sure I sounded like a bunch of ogres stomping through the forest. Nothing seemed to want to bother with me so I continued to sound like a giant. Of course I paid dearly for that. There was a massive snake waiting for me. The thing must have been 10 meters long that is too fucking long for a snake. Wait maybe I can just zap it like that squirrel. If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. ¡°Hisss.¡± ¡°Zapp.'''' The snake just looked at me as if I was tickling it. I was completely fucked. So i did the next best thing. Run! Run as fast as these stubby little legs can take me. I could hear it chasing me. I don''t even think it was trying to catch me I was being played with again¡ at least this time it was something worth being scared about. There it was, a small hole even I would have trouble fitting in; well¡ not much else I can do and of course he noticed the hole as well. What can I do? What can I do? Well here goes nothing. As it lunges at me I turn and fire off a small zap that hit him in the throat. I could see the sparks flash down his entire mouth and it immediately snapped shut. His head was still about to crash down on me! I leapt up just to try and avoid his head. Its head came crashing down but it only got a face full of dirt. Now was my chance I could tell the snake was getting back up, and it was¡ Extremely pissed! If I didn¡¯t make it I was dead meat. I managed to close the gap from ten meters to only around five however it was still too far. I had a feeling he was finally ready to strike at me again. I don''t think the same trick will work twice. Now I¡¯m really fucked. I stayed still. Aww shit. It''s gonna spit at me! I guess the same trick will work twice. Wait what is my range there are 7 or so meters between us. Will it even affect him? Well I won¡¯t know unless I try. His mouth opens again and I release the energy stored inside me. Damn. He was expecting that. As soon as I turned around he shut his mouth and my attack basically bounced off his scales and then he fired his icky green acid and it flys true. It burned through my scales but they provided enough protection for me to get to the hole. I started squirming to try and squeeze in and it was fast approaching. I only had about two seconds before it crossed the ten meters mark, and would end my pitiful life. Oh my god did that fucking acid hurt. It barely registered in my mind with all the adrenaline pumping through me. I finally managed to squeeze through but my tail got nipped. There was barely any room but I managed to push myself forward there was no room to turn around ; I could only go forwards. The few scales left were peeling from the acid and rubbing against the tunnel. My pain perception was starting to kick in. My mind started to scream at me. The pain was overwhelming. I felt my conscience fading. I had to go further. Further from that thing, and maybe death would be waiting on the other end of this tunnel. Chapter three: A Moment to Think I passed out in the middle of the tunnel. The pain had finally gotten to me. I did not know how long I layed there. I felt only the feeling of my flesh and scales being burned by the acid. When I passed out, who knew, but by the time I awoke again the burning had stopped but half my scales had been burned off. It hurt to move. Every fiber of my being screamed at me to stop but I have to go. I have to continue moving forward. If I stop now then i¡¯ll die, so I got up and started walking and the tunnel continued. I didn¡¯t know how far I had gone but I just felt as though I was close to the end. I could feel the flesh on my back scrape every step of the way. the earth was rough and rocky. Blood soon started to pour out of my new wounds. My feet started ache and I finally reached the end. There was a small rabbit with a slight horn poking out. This was probably a young horned rabbit that had only built one entrance and exit. this was probably a new burrow as well. It looked terrified but I only could feel my hunger and pain. I let out a breath of electricity, it fell over twitching. I walked calmly and with a swift bite I ended its life. I ate the rabbit but I couldn¡¯t even taste it. I felt as though my entire body was on autopilot just so my brain could keep the pain at bay. When the last piece of flesh had been swallowed I felt my body hit the floor unable to sustain my own weight, my eyes closed. When I awoke I could feel the warmth of the sun flooding into the burrow. I began to move towards the exit however my body had not recovered and as I moved through the tunnels once again my wounds festered open. When I finally exited the rabbits burrow my blood had soaked my entire back and it had dripped down my body all the way down to my feet. I felt groggy under the sun. It was hard for me to tell left from right so I continued to walk with no destination in mind and nothing to fuel my efforts forward. I could not even feel my own hunger. I continued to walk, my conscience fading, I collapsed on what seemed to be a path. I could not even hear the horses or the footsteps of men from the merchant caravan that was heading my way. I could hear something, it sounded intelligent. I could not even stand to defend my pitiful self as I was picked up and joceled around as the boy that was carrying me ran to the centre of the caravan. I could hear more voices now but everything was getting more and more fuzzy my thoughts blurred together and I felt the warmth of the darkness envelop me. When I awoke I was in a wooden cage there was a thin piece of animal hide under me. I looked up to see a young boy no more than 16 sitting across from me. He was a toned boy and tall his muscles were not defined or large but gave off the feeling as if he could lift a horse. His eyes were a deep blue, it was almost as if you were staring into a calm lake. He had a common hair colour for a human; a deep blue almost purple. If Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.I remember correctly their hair colour represents what element they are closest to. He sat on a box and stared hard at the floor as if trying to remember something. I let out a squeak and he snapped out of whatever trance he was in and turned towards me. I could tell he was the same boy that had brought me to the caravan. He spoke as if I could understand him. Well, I could but he didn''t know that. ¡°Hey little guy, hungry?¡± And of course, as if on cue, my stomach makes an unthinkable sound in front of this human. ¡°Ok little buddy i¡¯ll go get you some food¡± My tail began wagging behind me, excited by the promise of food. ¡®I swear to god tail I will eat you if you betray me again.¡¯ No matter how hard I concentrated it would not stop moving. The boy returned with a giant smile plastered across his face with a plate of meat in hand. ¡°You hungry little buddy? Huh. Huh.¡± ¡°Yes! Shut up and give me some.¡± Of course all he heard was some cute squeaking noises and my tail wagging 100 km per hour. Oh well, I got the meat in the end so all is good and forgiven. As I finished up my meal another man walked into the room. The boy noticeably stiffened up and the man spoke in a haughty voice as if he were some rich noble. Oh, wait, that''s probably what he is. ¡°This fine specimen would fetch a pretty penny if it weren¡¯t so damaged, can''t sell damaged merchandise now can we. So you¡¯ll keep it and you¡¯ll make sure he heals up nice. We could buy an estate with just his tiny little hide.¡± greed was leaking out from him. It made the small makeshift room feel stuffy and the air toxic. He left only as the boy responded to him. The noble had a wide grin that stretched from ear to ear. ¡°Yes sir.¡± The boy let out a deep sigh. He looked towards me with guilt and sorrow in his eyes for what was to come.
