《Screwed》 Chapter 1 The smooth blade reflected the sunlight in all its glory. The black leather handle was held by a gloved, brown hand. The person handling the sword was ready to bring it down on the enemy. There was a swooshing sound and steel found meat, burring deep into the creature. It gave out a loud roar, announcing it''s painful demise. Victoriously, the knight punched into the air. The excitement was palpable. "Yes! I finally did this shit!" Cried out the knight triumphantly. This was the moment he had won, and he was getting drunk with the feeling of victory. "Hey. Don. Don. wake up please." said a voice, breaking the immersion of Don. Opening his eyes, he looked at the person who had interrupted his fun dream. ''Bastard.'' thought Don angrily. "Hey Don, sorry to wake you up. Just had to tell you it''s ten already and it''s your job to prepare breakfast, so yeah." Will, the playboy looking blond ordered in a friendly way. Don looked at him for a few moments, before replying, "Yeah, sure, ok, please get out." "Uhh, yeah, good luck I guess," Will said as he went out of the room, closing the door behind him. Don laid in for a few more moments, staring at the bleak ceiling of his bedroom before getting up from the bed. He dressed up with a white t-shirt and a pair of shorts and got out of the room. He went through the corridor of the apartment and into the kitchen which was right next to the living room. Scanning the room, he couldn''t help but sigh. "It''s my fucking turn.." Don mumbled under his breath as he got to work to fix some food. Opening the fridge, Don took out the eggs and sausages. After ten minutes, the omelet was ready, and Don put half on one plate and the other on a second plate. He took the second plate and gave it to Will. "Thanks, man." Said Will as he took the plate from the entrance of his room. But before Don managed to get back to his own room, Will called him from behind. "By the way, you have that exam today right? Good luck." "Yeah, thanks. I will need it." Closing the door of the bedroom behind him, Don put the plate on his computer desk near the keyboard and sat down, finding a random video to enjoy while eating. After several minutes, Don decided to go to the restroom. He got up from the chair, absentmindedly thinking about all the equations he needs memorized from last night, and made his way to the door. Birds were chirping in the distance, there was mud and grass all over the ground, fairly tall trees were standing gloriously, like the dormant force of nature they are. There were a few groups of ants going around on the ground as well, Don noticed. The sun was shining down on everything from Don''s right, casting a long shadow over most of the undergrowth. The place looked like a normal forest. Don panicked. This wasn''t supposed to happen. He just opened a door, not a portal. It couldn''t be. ''Maybe I blacked out? Nah, no fucking way. I''m standing, not lying on the floor.'' Don considered. Looking down at his indoor outfit, he could see there were no stain marks, the shirt and shorts were completely clean. It was as if he didn''t get out of his house. ''Shit.. what happened?'' Don cringed. It hurt quite a bit standing on the ground since he didn''t wear any shoes. He looked around, trying to get his head around the fact he was sent to a forest. Through all the bushes, long grass, and trees he found a large smooth looking boulder. "Perfect." Cautiously, Don paved the safest way to get there without scratching his feet too much. After a minute or two of slow walking, Don reached his destination. He sat down on the smooth, mostly even surface of the boulder and looked around him. ''Well, I''m in a forest, that''s for sure¡'' Don reaffirmed his surroundings. The sun appeared to be high up in the sky, indicating that it was probably noon. "How the fuck did I get here?" Don asked himself the question that plagued his mind since he got there. There was no reasonable explanation, and there was no one around to explain what happened either. This was Don''s reality, and he would have to accept this. "This is so bullshit!" he whined like a little kid as he spit on the ground next to him. "Well, at least I don''t have to do the fucking exam at the end huh¡" he sighed, getting on his feet, standing on the boulder. "Ahhh¡ alright¡ I need to get a stable source of water I guess. Also, I really need to pee. Fucking hell.." Don sighed once again. There was nothing to delay. He could either stand there thinking about all that has happened, or he could do something productive for his survival. This was inconvenient, but he had no choice. Taking a quick look around, Don found the perfect place to do his business in. Getting down from the boulder, he painfully and slowly walked up to a nearby tree and relieved himself. ¡®Alright, that feels good¡ my fucking legs..¡¯ he thought as he pulled his shorts back up. Don stood still in place for a few more moments, mind wandering. "Let''s go.," he said in a tired way, sarcastically holding his fist up in the air before he started his trek in the forest. He didn''t know how much time had passed, but he could finally see water. A small pond in a clearing, the water reflecting the sunlight in a beautiful way. It was very clean as well, not green, not dark blue, but see-through, as all water should be. As Don got closer, he could see little fish swimming in the pond. It was a beautiful place, that he, unfortunately, would have to drink from. Still, his own survival was at stake. Dropping down on his knees, Don cupped his hands together in the water and brought a handful to his open mouth. Gulping it all down, Don was satisfied. "Got clean water, that''s good," he said in a relieved tone. He shouldn''t worry about dying from dehydration in this place for the time being. He looked up at the sky and saw that it was almost evening already. Good thing he ate just before this, or he would have been really hungry. "Well¡ I guess that''s this¡ I really should stop talking to myself, it''s kinda weird. But no one is here, so I guess it doesn''t really matter.." he said to himself in a half-amused tone. He did just argue with himself after all. Chapter 2 After drinking from the fresh water, Don sat next to the pond, content to watch as little fish in different colors continued with their daily lives. Mind blank, he watched as one little goldfish played catch with another one, neither of them winning. He needed to release some stress, and let all his worries fly away with the wind. His way of doing that is using the serene atmosphere as some sort of stress reliever. The sun started to set, and night slowly fell onto the world. Looking up at the sky, Don took a long breath before releasing it. The night was mesmerizing. The stars, high up and somewhere in space, shined down white light on everything below them like gods. Then he looked at the moon. ¡°Wait, what?¡± Don asked himself. There were two moons, and both were red. That was not natural. ¡°How?¡± Don asked himself once again. There was no reasonable explanation for the phenomenon. Out of confusion, Don got onto his feet, still looking up at the sky. After a few seconds of analyzing the moons, Don broke his gaze from them, only to gasp at the sight in front of him. Every green object in the vicinity had turned red. Bloody red. The leaves on the trees, dancing in the wind. The grass beneath him. The bushes and plants that were around him. Everything turned red. ''What the fuck is happening?'' Don thought as he looked at the crazy sight in front of him. Scanning the surroundings, Don noticed another unnatural thing. The water in the pond changed color. The once see-through water was now a dark purple. ¡°Huh?¡± he walked closer to the edge of the pond, peering inside. He was scared and he didn¡¯t know what to do. He needed to find out what was happening. He couldn''t see a thing because of the dark and dense color, but still tried to focus his eyes. Nevertheless, no matter how much he tried, he couldn¡¯t find anything useful. "AHHHHHHHHH!" a savage scream was heard throughout the entire forest. If someone would have listened closely enough, they could have heard the animal that made that horrible sound was choking. It was an inhuman scream of a dying living being. Don jumped, not expecting it. Everything was quiet in the forest since he got there, only the noise of nature booming in his ears. The blood boiling scream was surely a surprise. A frightening one, that is.This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. ''I think I read somewhere that most predators come out at night, right?'' he thought back at the countless hours he spent scouring the internet. ''Also, how the fuck can I see stuff. It''s not like there are any street lights here..'' Don sighed. He couldn''t find any reasonable explanation. It was as if the place was lit up by something. Something immaterial and mystical. "What the fuck should I do? I don''t want to get eaten.," he whispered to himself. After a couple of seconds of thought, there was a loud splash sound coming from the pond. Don looked at its direction and found something that left his mouth hanging. ''What the fuck is that!'' he cursed in his mind. The freak of nature that stood in the far-right corner of the pond was dirty pink. It had the shape of a giant goldfish while having four legs. Its mouth was open, struggling to breathe in the air around it, choking on itself every second breath. Small streams of water were coming out of its every pore. Its soulless, completely white eyes looked at Don, making him shiver. Not waiting for the thing to get itself under control, Don ran away back to the direction of his open abode. His feet getting even more disheveled and bloody, knees getting scathed, elbows hitting tree trunks from time to time, he mustered on his motivation to keep going. It was painful, but he made it back to his boulder, his current place of residence. He didn''t have anywhere else he could go to. He was not a survivalist, nor was he a hunter. He didn''t even like survival shows and survival tips. He thought that he would never need those. But life in most cases is unfair, and this is just one of those many, many cases. "Alright.. ahh.. I need to find.. ahh.. a way out of this place.. ahhhhhh.." Don said between breaths. He was tired. He didn''t know what to do. He was helpless. "Alright, I need to focus. Just need to survive in this fucked up place for one night. Then get the hell out of here." he said to himself exhaustingly while rubbing his face. ''No, don''t look at the legs. Won''t help you.'' Don reprimanded his curious albeit random devil. After resting for a few minutes, he got back up again. Wincing from not only the leg pains but also because of the stinging he felt all over his body. He continued walking, to the opposite side of where he had heard the scream come from while also evading the pond. While walking, the wind started picking up. Don tried to protect himself from the onslaught of rustling leaves with not much success. Accidently falling on his face, Don slowly got up. He was a dirty mess, but he still got the determination to keep going. He didn¡¯t want to die, even if he got a face full of mud. He didn''t know where he was going, but he knew that at some point the forest should end. He just hoped there won''t be any other monsters in the way. After walking for a few minutes, without notice, Don was tackled. Thrown on the ground, he grunted. Then, his hand started burning. screaming, he flailed the hand around until the thing that got stuck to it came off. Throughthe small tears that gathered in his eyes, Don looked at his offender. It was a purple slime the size of a forehand. But it wasn''t cute and round. It looked like sticky acid that would eat you. And that was exactly what it was trying to do to Don.
