《Champion of Chaos》
Prologue: Beginning of the End
"Ok, this is it. We are about to beat back these Alien fuckers once and for all, so we can''t mess this up," my teammate Arnold said.
He stood towering over the rest of us due to his class Armor Giant. As long as he wore heavy armor covering his entire body he, his equipment, and his weapons doubled in size, strength, and health. He was covered in pitch-black armor with golden highlights. A giant greatsword hung off his back.
Beside him, to the right, stood Samantha, whose class was War Master, granting her bonuses using all weapons, including her fists. She wore leather armor, and her body had weapons all over it from swords to guns to daggers.
In the back stood Alexander, the Grand Sorcerer who wielded the most powerful magic yet seen on Earth, even his weakest spell capable of removing the top of a mountain. He wore all black robes and wielded a wooden staff.
Alongside him stood Katelyn, the Hierophant, who was capable of bringing people back from the brink of death. She wore red robes similar to Alexander and a blood-red sphere floated above an outstretched hand.
And then there was me, Richard Kane, the Sword Mage. I stood to the left of Arnold, a longsword in one hand, the other free to cast spells. It was the class that best fit me, as I could never decide what I wanted to do. So I became a jack of all trades. Although some may think this made me stronger, it just meant that I could never do something as easy and as well as my other teammates. Still, it allowed me to take up any role that needed a small boost at the moment.
Status, I thought.

I couldn''t help but worry if I had chosen the right way to go. Perhaps I should have focused more in one direction, but I always wanted to be prepared for anything, so I assigned my stats as evenly as possible after leveling up in dungeons. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
"Yeah, let''s go. Can''t wait to kick that bastard''s ass," Samantha cheered, pulling me from my musings.
"Shouldn''t we take a more cautious approach," Alexander advised in a monotone voice, "We don''t know the strength of the commander."
Everyone sobered at that comment. The weight of being the ''Five Heroes'' was getting to all of us after weeks of fighting through alien ships. What really set us on edge was that yesterday, all the ships that were supposed to be blocking us all got out of the way and let us onto the commander''s ship.
"Well," I said, "We''ll never do anything if we''re just standing here."
"Yes," continued Arnold, "Alex get ready to blast the Gamma guns once we get in there."
Alexander nodded in affirmation and Arnold pushed open the door. The sorcerer blasted firebolts at the guns mounted on the walls of the Command Room. A single blast from them was capable of severely injuring any one of us, so it was important that we got rid of them quickly. In the center of the room sat what looked like a humanoid dragon. A Revakan. He sat leisurely on the chair.
"So, you''re the ones who have been destroying my fleet," he growled, "I''m afraid I can''t allow that to continue."
He took a sword off of his back. We immediately scattered. Alexander and Katelyn stayed near the walls of the room, preparing spells. Both I and Samantha raced to different sides of the Commander, while Arnold used his taunt ability. But none of us expected what happened next.
The commander appeared right in front of Arnold . . . and sliced him straight in half. Both me and Katelyn began casting healing spells. Katelyn spell landed on Arnold and did nothing. My spell failed from the beginning. I was shaking too much to make the proper hand gestures. I was crying as I saw Arnold die. Not even Katelyn could save him from that. We all began using our super abilities in the hope to avenge our comrade.
Alexander started casting Atomic Beam but never finished when the commander sliced off his head. Katelyn was casting Light of Delphi when the sword pierced her heart. And Samantha, my love, activated Blade Storm. But the flying swords never even broke the skin of the commander as he cleaved her in two.
By the time they were killed my eyes were too blurry to see through. Was it all pointless? The destruction of the Alien Facilities in Europe. Japan''s uprising against the Revakans. All the things I''d done with the other Heroes, working towards Earth''s freedom.
In a last-ditch effort I activated my class''s super ability, Void Blade. My longsword was coated in black magic that looked as if it was sucking in all light in the room. I slashed at the commander, he moved out of the way but not fast enough for my blade to miss his arm. And to both our surprise, my blade cut off his arm. The ability deactivated, unable to be used for another day. The commander''s face transformed into a mask of rage as he kicked me. I flew across the room as he picked up his arm and reattached it.
"Well," he scowled at me as I felt my consciousness start fading, "I suppose you are worthy of knowing my name. I am Mongrave.''''
And my vision faded to black.
¡°Listen, Humans,¡± a booming voice rolled across Earth.
¡°Your precious heroes have fallen,¡± the voice said in a smug voice, ¡°Prepare to be enslaved.¡±
Year 2081
¡°Aaaaah!¡± I screamed awake.
I looked around and realized I was strapped to a white chair. The walls were all metal. I was confused for a moment before I remembered what happened and realized where I must be.
¡°Samantha . . .¡± I mumbled as tears welled in my eyes.
¡°Hello,¡± a deep gravelly voice said from behind the chair, ¡°I have a . . . proposition.¡±
Chapter 1: Chaos鈥檚 Proposition
¡°Hello,¡± the voice said, ¡°I have a . . . proposition.¡±
I jumped at that. Or at least I would have if I wasn¡¯t strapped to the seat. The owner of the voice walked out from behind me. Whoever it was, was wearing a dark black cloak, hiding any other features except for two crimson eyes shining out from under the hood.
¡°Who are you?¡± I asked with as much confidence as I could muster. If this was a Revakan, I didn¡¯t want to give him any pleasure from my fear.
¡°I am Chaos,¡± the robed figure replied smoothly, ¡°Though, I suppose, it would be better to describe me as the Will Of Humanity. I am here to offer you a way to save your race. And gain revenge for the death of the other Heroes and the millions of humans who have suffered under Revakan rule.¡±
Chaos spoke of revenge and although I was curious, it didn¡¯t mean I was going to accept right away.
¡°What exactly are you offering?¡± I inquired, ¡°And why do you want to help? You seem powerful enough for the Revakans not to pose much threat to you?¡±
I could tell he was powerful enough to be a Cosmic Entity, also known as a God. His aura and words vibrated with power
¡°True, I am powerful. But remember, I am the Will Of Humanity. I am essentially the collective desire of every Human. It is in my best interest to make Humans flourish. Currently, I am fighting against Order, the Will Of Revakanity. I need someone to fight on the mortal front while I fight on the divine front,¡± Chaos answered, ¡°That is where you come in. You will become my champion. You will work to save Humanity and drive off the Revakan. I will also teleport you to a town below. So, do you accept?¡±
I thought about the offer and realized that this wasn¡¯t even a question. The rage and sadness I felt would not let me choose anything other than what would allow me to kill the commander. And even if this was a trick, what did I have to lose.
¡°I accept,¡± I said in a grief-stricken voice.
¡°Good. I thought you would,¡± Chaos said as he put his finger on my forehead.
I immediately blacked out from what I could only describe as raw power flooded through me and started making alterations to my body.
¡°I hope you like the upgrades,¡± Chaos said, ¡°Now, where should I teleport you? Ah yes, how about the Dungeon town of York. I believe it is in what used to be Britain 44 years ago.¡±
With that my once again unconscious body was teleported back to Earth.
I opened my bleary eyes and looked around. I appeared to be in a bed of some sort in a wooden cabin.
¡°Ah, you¡¯re finally awake,¡± a gruff voice came from a well-built man sitting at a table, ¡°I found you outside. My name is Kyle.¡±
¡°Thank you,¡± I said gratefully, ¡°Where am I?¡±The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
¡°Wow, you must have really been out of it,¡± Kyle answered, ¡°We¡¯re in the Dungeon town of York.¡±
¡°What¡¯s a Dungeon town?¡± I asked.
¡°Woah, where have you been living? Under a rock?¡± He replied, ¡°We¡¯re a town whose residents go into the dungeon, kill shit, then store the experience they would normally give to us in soul gems and send them off to who knows where. But how do you not know about this? This was one of the Revakans¡¯ first proclamations forty-five or so years ago when the Five Heroes died.¡±
¡°What!,¡± I exclaimed, ¡°Forty-five years ago . . .¡±
¡°Yeah, what¡¯s wrong?¡± Kyle asked concernedly.
¡°Nothing . . .¡± I replied distractedly.
I couldn¡¯t believe that it had been so long. I checked my status sheet.

I was shocked. I could only guess that Chaos¡¯s blessing had caused all of this. My stats had multiplied by ten, my class had changed, and I had a new title. I focused on the title to gain more information about it.
Title: Chaos¡¯s Champion
Increases all stats by a factor of ten. Grants the class Final Hero.
I was shocked by how good the title was, before remembering that it was given by an actual god. I focused on the new class.
Class: Final Hero
You contain the power and spirits of the other four Heroes. Final Hero contains all the abilities of the Armor Giant, Battle Master, Grand Sorcerer, Hierophant, and Sword Mage classes.
I instantly recognized the classes that I and the Heroes had. And I was glad that I would have something to remember them by, even if it was an intangible thing like a class.
¡°Hey kid, why are you crying,¡± Kyle interrupted me from my status.
I felt my face and realized it was wet. I wiped my tears on my sleeve.
¡°What level are you?¡± I asked curiously.
¡°Hey, I know you may have amnesia, but you don¡¯t just ask someone that. I can tell you that the average level around her is eighty or so. It would probably be 190 if we were actually allowed to absorb the experience we gather,¡± Kyle explained, ¡°Those fucking Revakans are probably all 270 already.¡±
At Kyle¡¯s words, sweat started to drip down my spine. Revakan levels used to just be between 90 to 110. Right now, if it wasn¡¯t for my title, I would be helpless against them.
I couldn¡¯t start a full-blown rebellion right now, or we¡¯d be overwhelmed. The commander most likely wasn¡¯t complacent while I was asleep, and he very well might have the blessing of his god too. For now, I would need to blend in, and maybe free York from its chains sometime soon.
I would become an experience harvester myself and level up on the side until an opportunity came to emancipate York.
¡°So, where can I get a job?¡± I asked Kyle.
Chapter 2: Dungeon Diving
It had been a few weeks since I had been found by Kyle. I had signed up to the Harvesters guild upon his advice. I had learned about the Mayor¡¯s manor which was now used as the Revakan base in the area. Using my ridiculous stats I was able to earn the quota ten times over and use the excess to level up two times. The Revakan enforcers went through the town every so often to make sure everyone was paying up their experience. It took all of my willpower not to kill them right then and there
Throughout my dives in the dungeon I dived to deeper floors as my understanding of the classes the other Heroes wielded increased. Unfortunately, Arnold¡¯s class, Armor Giant, was one I could not learn much of. It required a full-body plate armor suit to learn the more advanced abilities. I could use the basic abilities such as Iron Body and Mass Taunt, but not much else of the class.
Samantha¡¯s Battle Master class made even the crappy guild assigned sword feel like a part of my body. Her Super Slash ability allowed for many bosses on each floor to die in one hit. Alexander¡¯s Grand Sorcerer class allowed for the most killing with his massive Area of Effect attacks like Firestorm or Spiked Earth. Although it rarely happened with my massive Constitution, Katelyn¡¯s Hierophant class let me get myself out of some tight spots using Great Heal.
Currently, the farthest floor in the dungeon I had gotten to was floor seven. I could likely go farther, but I tried to only go to the next floor once I felt like I achieved a proper amount of mastery. Yesterday, I felt that the seventh floor no longer provided much of a challenge, so I decided I would go on to the next and final floor of the dungeon. There was also something I wanted to test out in there. If it worked, tomorrow would be the last enslaved day of York.

As usual, the two levels of stat points were evenly distributed. I chuckled darkly as I thought about what the other Heroes would have said.Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.
¡°Never can make a choice,¡± Samantha would say playfully.
I shook my head as if to get rid of my morbid thoughts as I started heading from the Guild Inn to the dungeon at the edge of the town. It was time to dungeon dive.
I pushed the dead boss of the seventh floor, a Grand Demon, off of my blade. I noticed many cracks were starting to form along the poorly made sword, meaning I would likely need to find a replacement soon, which would likely be just as crappy. I had long since filled the experience gems needed for my quota today, leveling up one more time.
It was in these moments where I truly appreciated Chaos¡¯s blessing. The Heroes and I had faced Grand Demons before, but it always took all of us working together to beat it. Now I could defeat this monster using a few slashes of my sword.
As the body disintegrated, the loot dropped. However, I did not take any of it. If any of the Revakan Overlords found out I was powerful enough to defeat a level 600 demon, it would immediately draw attention that I did not need nor want yet. Instead, I walked to the back of the boss room where the stairs leading to the eighth floor were. I descended.
It appeared the eighth floor was a draconic themed one. This floor would have likely made even the Five Heroes run, as the average level was in the eight hundred. Of course, the dragons only provided a minimal challenge as I blasted my way through the floor, determined to get to my goal. I started using some of Hierophant¡¯s offensive spells, such as Holy Beam.
Unfortunately, however, the Eighth floor was also a maze. Even I could not blast through the walls, which meant that the dungeon must have reinforced them. There were also several puzzle rooms, where the dungeon most likely thought it was being clever. However, like almost every other dungeon, it asked crappy riddles like: ¡°What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?¡± It took me five whole hours for me to get through the goddamn floor.
I walked into the boss room. The Ancient Silver Dragon boss attacked me immediately and managed to blast me into the wall. I used Super Slash and was blocked by its claws before its icy breath froze me to the floor. As I strained against my icy prison, the dragon lifted its gigantic hand.
I will not fall here.
The ice melted instantly as I used fire magic to blast it apart. As the claw came down upon my head I jumped out of the way to the right and used Iron Body. I was not able to dodge completely and the claw skidded off of my left arm, which quickly became numb. I then used Mile Long Slice to cut off its head.
The head fell to the ground, and once again the body disintegrated and the loot dropped. However, I walked to the back of the room where I knew the Dungeon Core would be hidden. I cast Sense Magic to find the Core. I punched the wall where I sensed the Core a bit to the right. The wall collapsed and I found a shining crystal clear gem. But as I grasped the Core, my mind was immediately assaulted by a voice.
*Wait wait, please! Don¡¯t kill me! We can make a deal!*
¡°What? Dungeon Cores are sapient?!¡± I exclaimed, almost shocked enough to have dropped it. It had always been theorized they had some intelligence, but no more than some animal.
*Yes, yes! Please don¡¯t kill me!*
¡°I¡¯m sorry. I need to use the powers of the gem you reside in,¡± I apologized, sorrowful that I would have to take a sentient life, but knowing that my plans would fail if I did not have a core.
I was planning to take control of the Core by using the Capture Spell skill I saw Alexander use many times, though now I was starting to feel a bit guilty about it.
*Fine, I¡¯ll do whatever you ask just please don¡¯t kill me!*
¡°Ok, swear a binding oath then,¡± I said after considering for a moment.
*A binding oath?*
The voice sounded much more relaxed now that its life was not in immediate danger.
¡°It''s where you swear upon your soul to do something,¡± I explained.
*Ok, I swear upon my soul to do whatever you want.*
¡°Thanks. I won¡¯t have to kill you now,¡± I said relieved, ¡°A bit of advice, next time you swear an oath, add some conditions. If I wanted, I could tell you to die. You would be unable to stop yourself.¡±
*Crap...!*
Chapter 3: The Free Town of York
*So, what do you want me to do?*
¡°To die,¡± I said darkly as I fake laughed as maniacally as I could.
*W-what!? But I swore an oath!*
I burst out laughing for real. It had felt pretty good to actually laugh after all this time. I guess it had been fifty years after all.
¡°I¡¯m fucking with you,¡± I apologized, ¡°I just couldn¡¯t resist.¡±
I continued chuckling, and could have sworn I heard a few mumbled insults to my heritage and character emitted from the poor core. Which, of course, only made me laugh harder.
¡°Anyways, what I want to do is make York an actual Dungeon town. Also, what¡¯s your name?,¡± I asked after my laughter had calmed down.
*What¡¯s York? And what do you mean by Dungeon town? My name¡¯s Arc.*
¡°York is the town where the people who invade your dungeon live,¡± I explained, ¡°York is called a dungeon town because they kill your monsters and store the experience in gems that they give to the Revakan overlords.¡±
*Are those the scaly humans that I¡¯m never able to kill. They only come in twice a year.*
¡°Yeah, they¡¯re the reptilian bastards,¡± I answered, ¡°Anyways, what I want is to kill all the Revakans in York, then have all the humans come in here. Then-¡±
*Can I kill them?*
¡°No,¡± I said as seriously as I could, instantly cutting off Arc¡¯s excitement, ¡°You will not kill humans, only Revakans. If I catch you killing a human without a proper reason to do so, I will kill you.¡±
*Wait, what! But you need me!*
¡°No. No, I don¡¯t,¡± I told him, ¡°Let me make this as clear as possible. I don¡¯t need you. I need the powers that being a dungeon core gives you. I need your body, the gem that you reside in, to allow me to use your powers. I¡¯m just letting you stay alive because one, having someone with experience that can watch over the dungeon while I¡¯m not is useful. And two, because killing a being with intellect is something I find distasteful. Excepting Revakans, of course.¡±
*But it¡¯s the only way I can level up.*
He sounded sullen, and I realized I may have been a bit too hard on him. However, it was important that he understood that killing humans was off the table as early as possible.
But, it was also paramount that Arc leveled up. The local Revakans may only be level 270, but the higher-ups were likely capable of getting through Arc¡¯s defense. They may find it difficult, but they could still get in. Suddenly, I was struck with an idea.
¡°I might have a solution,¡± I said, ¡°Tell me if anything happens.¡±
I then took the five filled quota crystals off my belt, threw them on the ground, and stomped on them to destroy them. A small flash appeared as they were destroyed, then faded away.
*WOAH!*
¡°What happened?¡± I inquired.
*Whatever you did leveled me up from 93 to 97. That¡¯s the equivalent experience of ten of those level 80 ¡®dungeon divers.¡¯ I also got the blueprints for Energy Crystals.*This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
¡°Ok, good,¡± I said, ¡°Can you make the crystals hold the life force of a Revakan? Because I¡¯m going to be killing a bunch really soon.¡±
I knew dungeons must get experience from killing non-dungeon made beings. And since humanoids can¡¯t get experience for killing other humanoids, I might as well give the useless revakan life force to the dungeon.
*Yeah, I think so. Now, where should I assign my stats . . . Woah, I have a title called The Champion¡¯s Ally*
¡°Really, what does that title do?¡± I asked, ¡°Also, what are your stats?¡±
To be honest, I was really curious about how dungeons were structured.
*It says that all of the mob types are now unlocked. Cool!*
Suddenly an Orange Slime appeared right next to me. Instinctively I smacked it, so hard that it flew into the wall and exploded. The rush of experience a short moment later confirmed its demise.
¡°What was that?¡± I inquired calmly.
*It was a mob of the Slime type, a Sun Slime. If you noticed, all the monsters in my dungeon have been either demonic, draconic, or bestial. I was planning on unlocking the Slime type next, because they¡¯ll make my Dungeon¡¯s floors squeaky clean*
¡°Vain,¡± I accused after a silent moment.
*Hey! I just take pride in my work, I¡¯m not vain.*
¡°Sure,¡± I was unconvinced, ¡°So you never told me what your stats were?¡±
*Oh, sure, let me send it to you. Status.*

*Shit.*
¡°What?¡±
*Another effect of the title is that I only get half the experience from Humans and allied races. Oh, but I also get double the experience from races hostile to humans. I guess that includes Revakans.*
¡°Damn right it does,¡± I said, ¡°Anyways, as I was saying earlier, once I free York the humans if they choose to, will come into your dungeon and be brought to the bottom floor, where they will live and level up to prepare for the rebellion. There will most likely be more humans coming once I free more towns. Understood?¡±
*Yes.*
¡°Ok, so add twenty points to Floor number, and twenty to Mob Level,¡± I instructed, ¡°The ninth floor will be the final defense, where the mobs will be on average from level 1080 to 1110. The boss will be the max level of 1140. The tenth floor will be where the freed humans now live. Add sleeping areas, eating areas, and training areas. Maybe prepare some equipment and monsters in the training areas. Also, add plants so the air will be recycled.¡±
*Ok.*
I could feel the air rumble with power as Arc made the changes I requested.
*Is there a specific type of monster you want on the ninth floor, you control freak.*
¡°Oy,¡± I said, ¡°Nah, use your judgment. Don¡¯t you have a whole new bunch of monster types you want to try out? Use them. Also, make me some of those Life gems.¡±
*Fine.*
I could tell Arc was glad to be in charge of something in his Dungeon. He quickly made a few Life gems that dropped into my waiting hands and were quickly attached to my belt. I placed the Core back into his hidey-hole, which quickly disappeared once again.
It was time to kill some lizards.
I walked out of the dungeon and headed to the center of town where the Revakan Manor was located. Once I got there I checked my equipment and prepared myself.
¡°Hey, you scaly assholes,¡± I yelled at the manor house, ¡°It¡¯s time to die.¡±
