《Hunter X Hunter: Royalty and the World Beyond》 [PROLOGUE] Seed Urn, Westington, and Karo ¡°KARO!!!!¡± A resonating roar that shook the earthroared out, coming from the dry throat of a miserable middle-aged man wrapped in frightful wounds and oozing blood. His cry was a defiant roar against the world, filled with endless longing and desperation. "I''m here, Dad!" A young toddler named Karo responded with a soft whimper wrapped in fear and anxiety, unable to withstand his father''s current state. "Good, Ging brought you here. Listen, Daddy doesn''t have much time with you. I''ve gone home to bring you a parting gift, after today, we won''t be seeing each other for a very long time." The Father''s gracious eyes docked on the toddlers, his own flesh and blood, and the longing within him was satisfied. He was missing an arm, with hideous wounds crossing his chest, like bloody chains attempting to seal him forever. And yet, he still felt satisfied. "We...won''t see each other?" The little boy''s voice rose and fell like the ocean''s waves, tears flowing from his big round eyes. He too could feel that this would be his last meeting with his beloved Father. "Sadly. I would never have wished for this to happen...but the Royal Family has no qualms about murdering their own! But alas, we don''t have much time, quickly take out your finger." As the desperate man spoke of the "Royal Family" his eyes flashed with blazing hatred, flames that only spoke of eternal damnation. But when his eyes returned to his son all hints of anger quickly dispersed. With his only leftover hand, he reached into his torn robes, taking out an ominous Urn that instantly released a mysterious and ancient aura. It looked as if it was made of an odd type of wood, with a smooth texturecarrying the uniquesenseof lasting forever. Carved within this extraordinary wood were two shut eyes and a wide-open mouth. This was the most precious treasure of the Kakin Empire - the Seed Urn! Created by the First King of the Kakin Empire, it was the peerless treasure belonging to the Royal Family. The price Third Prince Westington Hui Gou Rou paid to obtain this treasure would cost him his life. "Listen, Karo, and listen carefully. Place your finger into the mouth of this urn and concentrate all of your energy into your finger! All of your emotions, strength, and will! Please hurry, son." The desolate Westington held the Seed Urn with a careful and firm grip, all of his sacrifices counted on this moment. The boy followed his father''s orders with a deep solemness, tears crossing his soft and plump cheek. He concentrated all he had into his fingertip - and felt a small prick as the mouth of the Urn closed and bit his fingertip, drawing out a single drop of blood. If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. In truth, this boy was a bit too young for the Seed Urn tradition. Luckily, his age would not impede the ceremony, or else everything would have been for naught. It was unknown where the drop of blood went, but in less than a breath''s time, the Seed Urn''s eyelidsslowly opened! The boy watched in startled fear as the Seed Urn''s previously shut eyelidscompletely unrolled, revealing a pair of terrifying demon-like eyes. And at the same time, the mouth of the Seed Urn opened, letting go of its tight grasp on Karo''s finger. Once completely open, purple fumes floated up from the Seed Urn, wrapping around Karo''s hand completely. And from these peculiar purple fumes - a tiny fairy the size of a finger floated up from the mouth of the Seed Urn. The fairy had beautiful purple eyes and hair, and was wearing a tight yellow dress. But the most interesting thing about the fairy was what was in her hand! A small pitch-black gem, resembling an egg, half the size of the fairy herself! The sprite floated up to young Karo''s mouth, placing the tiny gem at his lips. The gem lay on his tongue as it completely dissolved - disappearing in a flash. In truth, all of this was only able to be seen by Nen users. Otherwise, it just looked like the boy placed his finger in the Urn with no effect. The only action truly visible was the opening and closing of the Urn''s demonic eyes! Just like that, all of the purple fumes dispersed and Karo was standing where he was, as if nothing had changed. The Seed Urn''s mysterious eyes closed and it returned to its previous sleeping state. "Good...good. Then all of this was worth it. Karo Riverbliss - you will always be my, Westington Hui Gou Rou''s, son! Go out and live a proud life - and eventually come back and punish the Royal Family for their evil deeds. But above all, remember I and your Mother love you!" And with that, Westington took his last remaining hand, covered in dripping red blood, and rubbed his son''s bright-golden hair. It was an act of tender love, one boiled with so many emotions mere words couldn''t properly describe it. "Da-dad..?" "Ging! Take my son out of here, they''ve arrived!" And with that, Westington nodded to an inconspicuous man in the back, who was watching the entire scene with tense nerves. He was good friends with Westington, and it broke his heart to see him live his last moments here - outside of the grand gates of the Royal Palace. "Of course! Goodbye Westington, it was an honor to live and fight with you, being brothers through all matters!" These were the only words Ging could force out - the arrival of Westington''s enemies would mean a disaster for both him and Karo. He hadto leave. And so, he activated his unique Hatsu ability - taking Karo out of the area in mere seconds - as some sort of teleportation. He was moving at top speed, and in a flash both him and Karo had long left this dreaded area. "DADDY!!!!" A scream was all that Karo left, and it was a scream that broke Westington''s heart. Westingtoncould only look up and watch the arrival of his own father, the king, along with the entire Royal Family. "I WILL DIE FIGHTING YOU!" Was his final war-cry, one that shook the entire Royal Palace. [CH.1] Blackwood Redemption! Unwanted Guest!? The vast Republic of Padokea, Rose Grove City. Within the bustling streets of Rose Grove City, a silver Cadillac was cruising with its midnight alloy wheels across an asphalt road. Hidden comfortably within was one of Rose Grove City''s wealthiest businessmen and entrepreneurs, Kanzai Rei, a man whose wealth was something thousands could only dream of. "Chauffeur, hurry up to the warehouse, eh? You know this kind of business can''t wait." Kanzai sat in the backseat, his legs spread comfortably as he held a silver glass in one hand and a loosely dressed woman in the other. This was one of his most important covert business trips; he was heading to a hidden warehouse in the poorest section of Rose Grove City - Blackwood District. Blackwood District was the "junkyard" of Rose Grove City, a place that embodied the dark muck and poverty generated by large and bright cities. Many who lived there were living well below the poverty line and worked up to three jobs just to scrape by. To the poor of Rose Grove City, it was home. And it wasn''t a place where Kanzai belonged. Sadly, Blackwood District, due to its large population, labor force, abandoned houses, and abandoned warehouses kept countless secrets and was the source of wealth for the richest of Rose Grove City. As the saying went, the rich often make money on the bent backs of the poor. And Kanzai Rei was one of those countless aristocrats who sealed their darkest secrets in Blackwood District. As the gleaming silver Cadillac coasted the dark streets, the roads suddenly became bumpier, the buildings lower and dirtier, and the inhabitants shadier. It only took two miles in for the gleaming skyline of Rose Grove to reduce to the old and worn out buildings of Blackwood. Here violence, corruption, and gangs ran rampant. Even the police gave up all hopes of bringing Blackwood under the law. "Okay! Here! Park in this alleyway. The car should be ready, and I''ll change into ''character''." Suddenly, the silver Cadillac swerved into one of the infinite hidden alleyways, parking behind an old-fashioned worn out sedan. It was his "cover" car. Kanzai strolled out of the Cadillac and went to the trunk, grabbing a heap of baggy clothes coated in grease and grime from the hard work of an auto mechanic. He shamelessly changed right there; there shouldn''t have been anyone watching. He threw his silver suit into the trunk and completely changed into his mechanic clothes, almost unrecognizable from before. In just a few minutes, he went from rich aristocrat to blue-collared mechanic. Obviously, Kanzai couldn''t afford to drive through Blackwood District in his Cadillac. It wouldn''t be long before he would be mugged and carjacked. Not to mention the suit - it would only point to the lavish wealth behind him. At that point, it was unknown what a Blackwood thief would do. Not to mention, these times were extremely dangerous for people like Kanzai. This was because of an organization known as Blackwood Redemption, an organization of Robinhood thieves terrorizing the rich. They specialized in stealing at all levels, from petty pickpocketing to full-scale robbery. All members of the society were completely untraceable, not a single member has ever been caught in the act. They faded in and out of the darkness, only striking out against the elites of Rose Grove. They, in short, were the sworn enemies of Rose Grove''s elite. The police, despite the massive heaps of money pooling into their investigation, still had no clue on how to catch these rampant criminals. Kanzai feared this group the most, he knew he simply couldn''t afford to encounter them. Unfortunately for him, oftentimes you attract what you fear most. Kanzai, now dressed as a hard-working car-mechanic and painter, unlocked the old sedan door with a click. He waved his hand at the silver Cadillac, signaling for it to leave the district. The chauffeur obeyed his orders, quickly pulling out of the alleyway and driving off into the distance.Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. "Heh. We''re finally alone, Kanzai Rei." A ghost''s voice came from the shadows, containing the endless chill of winter. With every letter, more and more panic drowned Kanzai''s head. He knew he''d been caught. And it terrified him. "Who!? Where are you?!" Kanzai swung his head back and forth, searching for that metallic voice. Just as he was about to turn around, he felt a gloved hand rest on his shoulder. It was the Devil''s Hand - reaching out to reap his soul from his body. "Relax...you rich folk are always so uptight. You''d think with all that money you''d learn to relax and ''ride the flow'', right? Get down." Suddenly the hand pushed down with extreme force, causing Kanzai''s knees to buckle. Pow! Kanzai''s head slammed into the dusty windshield of the old sedan. He abruptly felt his hands being moved against his will, and in a flash, he was forced into some makeshift handcuffs made out of nylon wire. He was effectively immobilized and handled - all in a span of a second. Clearly, the thief had done this many, many times before. And he had. In fact, this man was the leader of the famous Blackwood Redemption, the group of juvenile and young thieves. No one knew who he was, and his codename was simply Redemption to the outside world. "This truly was the best way, I didn''t really want to fight those huge bodyguards of yours. But honestly, did you really think your warehouse schemes were completely hidden from the outside world? Next time, remember that someone is always watching." Redemption spoke coolly; he was wearing a voice changer which kept his voice metallic and cruel. He had no fear of talking. And just like that, another famous robbery was performed on one of the aristocrats of Rose Grove City. It made the headlines, but there was no witness nor footage of the robbery. And so the legendary Redemption faded away with 200 million Jenny worth of bank accounts. Where did all this stolen money go? It all cycled back into Blackwood District, as the money would be given to the countless poor and struggling workers of the city. In fact, many new schools, parks, and other projects have been completely funded by the mysterious Blackwood Redemption. That was why only the elites of Rose Grove hated this famous band of criminals. To everyday Blackwood citizens, Blackwood Redemption was doing good works to save the city. ... Later that day, in one of the countless apartment complexes in Blackwood District. "Finally home." A youth uttered under his breath, leaping up the stairs three at a time. He quickly entered the second level of the apartment complex, stopping in front of a smooth wooden door with the number "568" engraved within. In truth, this black-haired youth had more than enough money to buy this entire complex. It would only require a single phone call and a withdrawal from countless bank accounts connected to him. But this wasn''t Karo''s style - futile spending only made him feel like one of his targets. He reached into his pocket, taking out a pair of keys dangling from his Blackwood High School keychain. He chose a plain silver key and used it to unlock the wooden door. With a single step, he entered his home. Instantly the fresh and refreshing smell of lavender hit him, a content smile settling on his face. He strode into the room and promptly shut the door behind him. Then, as was his custom, took off his dirty and cheap running shoes. "Nothing like home." Karo strolled into his simplistic and serene living room just to be jolted by the sight of a man lying on his couch - asleep! Karo froze for the next few seconds, his mind racing to register what was going on. This was his home, and he couldn''t even begin to describe the number of precautions he had gone through to make sure his identity and residence was hidden. In theory, this place should be impossible for even the greatest detective to find. So how could Karo not be shocked when he saw an uninvited guest lying on his dark leather couch? But Karo was a youth who has been through a lot and seen more, he quickly recovered from his initial shock and began to respond. Several thoughts raced through his head in half a second, his mind processing the best way to handle the current situation. "Ahh! You finally came - you''re a tough one to find! Not to mention having to sit here and wait for you to come home, you really made me work!" This oddly dressed man awoke from his slumber, causing Karo''s deep stare to lock onto his hazelnut eyes. The man sleeping was wearing an unusual dull turban-like cap, with strands of hair flinging out of it. He was poorly shaven and unruly, with a scruffy beard that only spoke of poor treatment. He was wearing plain baggy pants with a loose long-sleeved shirt on top. Not to mention his peculiar dark blue scarf and long dark boots, he truly was a strange fellow. "Oh! Before you even think of anything, hear me out. Let me introduce myself, I''m Ging Freecss, a good friend of your late father. I think you''ll want to hear what I have to say Karo Riverbliss, or should I say - Redemption?" Ging smirked confidently, laying out all his cards on the table. He had reeled Karo into his trap. [CH.2] A Royal Story, Ging Freecss "Woosh, woosh." The coffee mixer swished and whizzed, releasing a loud beep to prove that it''s delicious drink had finished. A black haired youth walked towards the coffee with his favorite mug, one marked with ''Blackwood'' in bold black letters. He also had another mug, one meant for the uninvited guest currently sitting on his couch. "So you want to tell me that you know my father - Westington." Karo lifted his voice, one that was unnervingly cool. He seemed to be handling the situation well, but no one knew what was truly going through his head. "Yup." The strange guest, Ging Freecss, took the coffee mug with satisfaction - he also appreciated the taste of quality coffee. "And that you looked after me when I was young?" Karo, rather than sitting next to Ging, leaned on the kitchen counter taking a conservative sip of his coffee. It was his favorite kind, with cocoa beans being imported from half-way across the world. It was in no way cheap, but quality coffee was necessary for his day-to-day life. "Well, I wouldn''t call it looking after. The only person I look after is myself. I just made sure you had a safe place to grow up." Ging was especially careful about the "looking after" part; he was known for his lack of responsibility skills. Many of his friends knew he had a son which he hasn''t seen in years. "A safe place? Were your eyes closed when you came here? Exactly how ''safe'' is ''Murder Alley''?" At this point the originally calm Karo burst out in rage - he couldn''t stand the irony. This mysterious stranger randomly appears and claims to have "left him in a safe place"! One had to know that Karo grew up in Murder Alley! Even Blackwood District had it''s prettier and uglier sections, and Murder Alley was famous for being the cruelest street in Blackwood District. The reason it was called Murder Alley is due to the overwhelming amount of violent deaths that happen every day on the street. Legend says that a minimum four people die on Murder Alley every day - a streak that hasn''t been broken for thirty years! Karo had to grow up in this grueling environment, dancing with death weekly. Not to mention his lack of parenting or background, he had relied on himself to live on the unrelenting streets of Murder Alley. Karo, despite his dislike for killing, killed for the first time at the young age of six. His upbringing was in no way "safe", it was the exact opposite. Murder Alley had zero sympathies for anyone, including children. So how could Karo remain calm when Ging dared to say that he left him "safe". It only infuriated him even more! "Listen! Maybe safe isn''t the right word, but you aren''t dead yet, right? This was necessary to raise you in the skills you''ll need for avenging your father. Do you think you would have all your current skills if you were born into some rich family?" Ging refuted calmly, showing no shame in his decision in leaving Karo in Murder Alley. He still believed that was the best decision for Karo. "Shut the hell up about this ''avenging'' my father nonsense! He''s dead, and I never knew him anyway." Karo fury rose even further as Ging kept talking, setting down his favorite mug. As much as he wanted to leap forward and give this visitor a vicious beating - he had a better plan. He swiftly opened a nearby kitchen container, one meant to carry knives and spoons, but instead hid a single red button. Just as Karo was about to press this brutish button he was interrupted. POW! Karo''s face swung to the side as a sharp stinging pain spread from his face to the rest of his body. He tasted the warm bitter feeling of blood leaking into his mouth - he knew he had been slapped - hard. Ging was naturally the one who slapped him, and he stood in front of Karo with a furious expression. He naturally withheld his strength, otherwise Karo would have been flung out of the entire complex. His speed was too fast - Karo only saw a flash before the pain hit. "Don''t ever say anything like that about Westington. He cared about you more than anyone else - I won''t let you disrespect his death!" Ging was now the one angry, his voice calling justice for his late friend. "Hmph!" Karo swallowed down a mouthful of blood; that slap confirmed one of his predictions. This Ging Freecss was immensely strong - there was nothing Karo could do to him. "You think I don''t know what that red button does? A single touch and this simple apartment becomes a deadly gas chamber. So vicious at such a young age!" Ging had long ago figured out what that red button did, he had En after all, and was startled at its purpose. In truth, there were many such red buttons all over the room. Once Karo pressed it deadly carbon monoxide would be released into the room. Colorless, odorless, and tasteless, the victim wouldn''t even know it was released until it was too late. At that point, Karo would make his swift escape from the room - with one of the several gas masks hidden in the apartment. This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author''s work. This was just one of Karo''s self-defense measures. "I can''t imagine you know much about your father, so I''ll explain it to you here and now." This was true, Karo knew very little about his father. All he could remember is the final look his father gave him - one of endless love and care, with eyes that were so tender they seemed to melt. Then, like a short dream, everything abruptly cut off. "Westington Hui Gou Rou, the Third Prince of the Kakin Empire. That''s who your father was, and he was a very very powerful man. But he didn''t want to be." Ging returned to the comfy leather couch, picking up his still warm cup of coffee. His eyes turned solemn as he remembered the past and tragic ending of his brother. "Kakin Empire!? Of the Azia Continent?" Karo''s eyes widened into full moons - he knew of the Kakin Empire well. Despite his upbringing, Karo was a very educated youth. The Kakin Empire of the Azia Continent, a militaristic and economic superpower. They were the most recent member of the V6 - a council of the six most powerful countries worldwide! The Empire was ruled by a famous royal family, which roots and background were simply unfathomable. The kind of power the Kakin Royal Family had was simply incalculable, and was at border Karo was very far from. "Yes, Third Prince of the Kakin Empire. But as I said, he didn''t want nor need this status - he wanted to live a humble and happy life adventuring, not dealing with the dirty politics of taking over an empire. And for this, he was fated to be at ends with his tens of brothers and sisters." Ging expected Karo''s shock, even he wouldn''t dare push the Kakin Royal Family too far. "I became friends with Westington through a myriad of adventures. We truly experienced life and death together, and through that, we became life and death brothers." "But the politics of the empire refused to excuse Westington. He was chained to a deep and dark mess that I can''t explain to you right now - you simply don''t have the qualifications to know." Ging shook his head, he clearly felt that Westington didn''t deserve what he went through. He took another deep sip of coffee before continuing his story. "He died an unjust death, fighting the Royal Family down to his last breath. Why? Because of you. All because of you." Ging paused once more, this time looking up at the ceiling as if he could see past it and look at the stars in the sky. "He knew that the dark mess he was thrown in would lead to the death of you and the people he loved, albeit if he followed along he may have survived. But he wasn''t willing to live at the cost of the lives of you and others. So rather than following the Royal Family, he decided to fight them." "With his last few breaths, he gave you the only gift he could before dying. He died for you, Karo." Ging''s hazelnut eyes locked on Karo, wanting to search deep and far into his soul. This look was unexplainable, it contained too many aspects, from high expectations to sadness. The two sat in silence as Karo digested all that was given to him. As he thought about the story, he began to piece things together in his mind. And then the thought, or rather the picture, of his father smiling at him during his last moments him. Karo didn''t even notice that a tear had run down his cheek. As much as he wanted to call everything Ging said as lies, he knew it was all the undeniable truth. If any of Karo''s childhood friends, the crucial members of Blackwood Redemption, saw Karo crying they would be shocked! Karo was a loving and trustworthy friend, one who always looked after his friends even during the darkest of times. But even when a storm came, they never saw Karo cry. "So...this is what I must do." More tears escaped Karo as he thought more and more about his late father. Truth to be told, he had more memories of him than he would like to accept. Scenes of his father''s love only made him more emotional. "You may also wonder why your last name is Riverbliss - not Hui Gou Rou like your father. The answer is Westington named you after his wife, Mo Riverbliss, rather than the family name that haunted him." Ging took another deep sip of coffee, he was almost done with his job here. "My mother?" Karo never knew a mother, neither did he have any memory. He couldn''t help but admit that when he was young he always longed for a loving mother. It hurt to be alone. "Yes. But that''s apart of the dark mess I said you have no qualification of knowing. Which brings me to my final message here - become stronger! Only through strength will you have the qualification to know about this mess and be able to avenge your father!" Ging took one final swig of coffee, slamming the mug on the low wooden table in front of him. "Strength? So like becoming a Hunter?" Karo''s eyes twinkled. He, like countless others, knew about the famous Hunter Association. He was completely confident that Ging was a Hunter, and an extraordinary one - how else would he be able to find him? "Becoming a Hunter is just the start! Perhaps once you become a Double Star Hunter will you have the qualification to know the entire truth!" Ging''s words were like a thunderclap to Karo''s ears. Even a One Star Hunter wasn''t anything to scoff at! After all, Hunters were people who chased the very definition of the unknown. They were powerful and dangerous people, whose duties ran from taking care of the world''s most dangerous criminals to exploring treacherous ruins. They were the aspiration of billions across the world! "But for now, you shouldn''t take the Hunter Exam. Despite your exceptional combat skills, your strength hasn''t been honed properly. After all, you can''t go to the Hunter Exam and expect to steal and pass. First...reach the 199th level of Heaven''s Arena!" Ging said explicitly, his voice similar to a teacher. Though he was in no way a "teacher". He just wanted to set a goal for Karo and prepare him for the destiny ahead of him. "Alright! I''ll accept." Karo spoke once more, his heart hardening with determination. He decided to take the path that lay ahead of him. "Good. This will be the last time you see for a long, long time. Don''t think I''ll be watching or anything - I wasn''t lying when I said the only person I look after for is myself." Ging smiled after seeing the determination written across Karo''s face. He wasn''t lying on his last sentence. He had done his job, how Karo proceeded in his future no longer affected him. And with that he got up from the couch, strolling towards the door. "W-wait!" Karo didn''t even have time to blink before Ging seemed to dissolve into the air, vanishing into the night sky. Karo was left leaning on the kitchen counter, an empty coffee cup in hand. [CH.3] Emergency Meeting! Zhao Kubo! And so, Karo made preparations for his upcoming journey. He first called a first-priority meeting for the Black Redemption, in one of their hidden safehouses. In the case of a first-priority meeting, it was mandatory for all leaders of Black Redemption to attend in the meetinghouse. Only a single person had the power to organize and call for a first-priority meeting - Redemption himself. Thus, in an abandoned factory located towards the end of Murder Alley, several black-hooded figures shifted their way through the night, all united for a single purpose. The time for the meeting to begin was precisely 12:00 pm, no earlier and no later. Anyone who did not attend would be completely erased from Black Redemption history and records, with several other consequences. Of course, everyone attended. No one besides the various Black Redemption leaders knew of this meeting. It was kept completely silent from the world, hidden from lower-level Blackwood Redemption members. It truly was a meeting for the chiefs within the organization. 12:00 pm, inside an abandoned factory, within a large hall. There sat a single wooden round table, large enough for the seven members sitting at it. It was a special table, one that held dreadful significance for the entire organization. There were seven names carved into the table. The owners of all seven names were sitting at that table right now, sitting in simple chairs. The entire of Rose Grove City would be shocked to realize all seven members were under the age of twenty. "Karo, why did you call for us?" At this time, one of the youths sitting in a chair called out to the black-haired youth calmly at the head of the table. This youth had bright-blond hair and tan eyes, puzzled at the strange calling for the meeting. From the way he spoke, it was clear he knew Karo very well. After all, Blackwood Redemption was currently at its height - there shouldn''t be any reason for an emergency meeting. The other five members sitting at the table nodded in agreement. They too couldn''t understand why the meeting had been called for. "Well, to answer your question, I''m hereby calling the dissolution of Blackwood Redemption." Karo''s voice was incomparably chilly, with no sense of doubt or reconsideration. But for everyone else, his words sounded like a thunderclap that shook the earth. The dissolving of Blackwood Redemption!? What for? It should be mentioned that everyone sitting at the table were childhood friends of Karo. They had grown up together with him in Murder Alley, struggling and fighting together. They were the founding members of Blackwood Redemption - each controlling a certain activity within the thieving group. "What!? Karo, you can''t be serious!? Did we get discovered or something? Why should we dissolve now!" One youth exploded in shock, he was especially young. He was roughly ten, and was in charge of the Petty Thievery Department. "Karo! You can''t be serious! We''re currently profiting more than ever, we earned one billion nen just this month!" This was an overweight and chubby seventeen-year-old. He was head of the Finances Department and was a genius in terms of math and accounting. He was set to be valedictorian of his class. Interestingly enough, Karo had made sure all of his childhood friends went to school - he didn''t want them to be forever chained to the thievery business. "Guys, listen and hear me out." Karo opened his mouth again, his helpless expression calming the other six. He knew this would be hard to be done, but he had decided this a while ago. "We''ve been doing this for too long. All of us here know this was just a way to rebuild the community and stop struggling on these harsh streets. Now we''ve grown to the point we''re an empire - but for what? We''ve accumulated so much wealth that we''ve begun to spend on things we don''t even need. Kuo, when did you buy your newest car?" Everyone hushed as they let Karo speak. However unhappy they were, they were all deep friends and respected each other greatly.Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. "Two days ago." The chubby and overweight man said, almost with a hint of shame. He knew where Karo was going. "And how much was it?" Karo sighed. "25 million yen. But Karo, you can''t expect us not to spend the wealth we have!" Kuo responded he began to feel like everything was a little bit unfair. "I know, I know, but we''re still losing our original purpose. That''s why I want all our remaining funds to live off on various projects in Blackwood, improving everything from the roads to the schools to the small businesses." "And then what will we do?" A new person spoke. "Whatever you want to do! We can''t be thieves forever, we''ve got bigger and better dreams than that. Kuo, don''t you want to be a Head Accountant for the government? Aixo, didn''t you say you wanted to be a famous chef renowned around the world? Huzo, you said want to be a Hunter, why don''t you start working towards the Hunter Exam? All of you have dreams and you can achieve them all. Let''s leave Blackwood Redemption in the past." As Karo spoke he reminded them of their previous aspirations and dreams, reminding them what they could be. The girl named Aixo, who hadn''t spoken yet, cracked a smile at the thought of being a chef. "Yes, yes. But Karo, what if we dream of being a thief?" This was a new voice, and it was significantly older than the rest. He was dressed in all black robes, similar to everyone else, except he seemed to release a cold and unwilling aura. Karo knew him as Zhao Kubo, the oldest member of Blackwood Redemption. The two had a long history, as Zhao had oftentimes looked after Karo when he was young. That wasn''t meant to say that they didn''t have their arguments and fights. Their relationship was similar to "frienemies", friends one week and fierce enemies the next. Zhao Kubo had been born and raised in Murder Alley, and his background could terrify any casual listener. He had killed the most out of the entire Blackwood Redemption, he was truly merciless. "Zhao, are you going to oppose my decision?" Karo''s voice once again became chilly, looking Zhao deep in the eyes. The other five at the table instantly hushed, they knew what was about to happen next. Karo and Zhao often fought due to opposing decisions and personalities. Zhao had no qualms with deaths involved in robberies - and wanted to lead an Armed Robbery division of Blackwood. But Karo wouldn''t let him, as he didn''t want to scare people with guns, knives, etc. This was just one of their fights. "And so what if I am? Do you think you could stop me?" Zhao''s voice escalated, as he began to step up from his chair. He was directly challenging Karo''s authority as leader. "Another fight? God, you''re so difficult." Karo shook his head, but he had expected this would happen. What came next was always a good and manly brawl. "Let''s see how that arm of yours is doing!" Zhao smirked confidently, raising his clenched fists to his jaw. He was an experienced boxer and streetfighter. He set up an illegal gambling branch of Blackwood Redemption as a comprise from Armed Robbery. "My arms are always ready for a fight with you, Zhao." Karo stepped up from his chair, lifting his own fists. And the fight began. Zhao threw a straight jab towards Karo''s nose, speedy but without too much power. It was a warmup punch. Karo responded swiftly, stepping to the side and throwing his own punch toward the taller Zhao''s chest. His fist made contact, though Zhao showed no reaction. Instead, Zhao took the opportunity to grab Karo''s arm and pull him closer. Karo responded with a traditional karate chop right at Karo''s elbow, causing his arm to suddenly jerk away. He followed immediately with a powerful tackle straight to his chest. The two stumbled backward before slamming down onto the ground, where Karo quickly assumed the dominant position and began to throw punches toward Zhao''s face. But Zhao couldn''t allow that, using a wrestling maneuver to throw Karo off him. The two both got up from the ground, Zhao wiping a hint of blood from his mouth. The two ran forward again, brawling once more. The two kept on fighting for another ten minutes until the two were both tired and had tasted the sweet flavor of their own blood. The other five members only sat watching helplessly. "Haha. A draw, huh. You know what, I''ll call this your win Karo. We''ll dissolve today." Zhao cracked a confident smile, a long line of blood crossing his cheek. He knew he could keep on fighting and beat Karo but he decided against it. "Don''t act like you couldn''t keep going. I could have too, but we can''t sit here and fight all night, huh?" Karo''s fighting spirit had been enraged but he also agreed that they should end it here. The two both went back to their respective seats as if nothing happened. "Now, before someone asks, I''ll tell you what I''m doing after this. I''ve made preparations to become a Hunter!" Karo confidently smiled at the six. "A Hunter? That''s funny because I want to be a Hunter too." Zhao smirked. "Then we''ll see each other at the Hunter Exam! We''ll finish our fight there!" Karo responded fiercely, not willing to lose momentum. "That''s just what I was about to say! Let''s do it! From today onwards, Blackwood ends and a new chapter starts!" Zhao shouted out. And it was just like he said. Blackwood Redemption mysteriously vanished, as if they never existed. The only mark they left was the funding of various projects in Blackwood and a few other minor expenses. And so Karo set off for Heaven''s Arena. [Ch.4] Heavens Arena! Karos Arrival! Heaven''s Arena. A wonderous and magnificent skyscraper, one of the great attractions of the world, a soaring tower famous for its fierce martial artists. The tower spun all the way to the sky, further and further, all the way until it touched the clouds. There was a crowd of people surrounding it, entering and leaving, or even tourists taking pictures to bring back home. This was the fourth tallest building in the world - Heaven''s Arena! At a soaring 991 meters and with 251 floors, this was the heaven for all battle-ready martial artists. It was famous for hosting thousands upon tens of thousands of battles for martial artists to hone their skills and even earn a quick load of cash! It was famous throughout the world, and was the building Karo was standing in front of - a wide grin on his face. A bold and powerful spirit ignited within him, excited to see what his new future held for him. To be honest, he wasn''t exactly too happy with Blackwood Redemption. It was a thieving group he had started during his desperate circumstances and as a way to help improve his surroundings, but it was in no way his "calling". He always had a hidden desire inside of him for adventure, a characteristic found in all of the world''s elusive Hunters. This was his opportunity to start a wild and exciting journey, in a place where fighting and battle was welcomed and celebrated. How could he not be excited? "Haha! No point in just standing here, I might as well get started." Karo didn''t hesitate and walked through the wide and open glass doors into an incredibly large lobby. Immediately he was hit with the roaring noise of hundreds or maybe thousands of people talking simultaneously. He shook his head and looked around. He was in a wide and vast lobby, with several desks scattered all across, all with a long line of people at each desk. "Jeez, so many people? All I want is a fight!" An annoyed voice shouted out from behind Karo, clearly unhappy with the long line to register. Karo glanced behind him, curious at who was expressing their dissatisfaction. It was a large and bulky man with crazy red spiked hair, with a vigorous and flamboyant appearance. He didn''t even bother to wear a shirt, revealing his strong and robust chest covered in brown fur. A few people, henchman probably, surrounded him with cocky smiles. He clearly didn''t belong to the city, he was probably one of those people who trained out in the woods. He had a cocky and arrogant smile, and began pushing people out of his way, wanting to skip to the front of the line. Everyone stepped to the side for him, albeit being a little unhappy, couldn''t resist his fierce appearance. He continued like this, all the way until a jet-black haired youth stood in front of him. "Kid, move over! Did you not see everyone else move to the side?!" He lacked any kind of manners, rudely putting his hand on Karo and tried pushing him to the side, as if he was just dust. Surprisingly, he met tough resistance, as the slim youth in front of him didn''t fling to the side like he expected. He looked down and met the deep and dark eyes of Karo Riverbliss. "Didn''t I tell you to move, punk!?" This time, the flamboyant man didn''t hesitate, pushing even further. Yet once again, Karo only took a step backward. "Who told you to put your hand on me? Get back in line - behind me!" Karo was slightly annoyed, frowning as he was pushed rudely twice in a row. He ungraciously grabbed the man''s arm and fearlessly threw it to the side. "Brat! You dare put your hands on me?" The man was now truly angered, raising his hand to slap the youth with full-force. A mere child wouldn''t move over when asked!? "Excuse me, two sirs! No fighting is allowed in the lobby! If you want to fight, it''ll have to be in an organized match!" A lady''s voice suddenly broke the tension, an employee running over in a pair of high heels. She was dressed in a pink dress with a fist in the center, the clothes for certified employees. She ran pretty quickly, clearly not wanting a fight to break out.A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. At this time, there was already a sizeable circle surrounding the three, nearby spectators interested in who dared to stand up resist this mountain-like man. "Fine! Give me your name, kid! I''m known as ''Red Mountain Guro'', and I''ll beat your ass once the fights get started. At that time, make sure to have this same rebellious attitude!" "The name''s Karo Riverbliss, and I can''t wait to fight you too, Guro. Let me see if those big muscles of yours are just for show!" Karo spread his arms out, clearly unaffected by Guro''s threat. He wasn''t willing to allow some random person treat him like a pushover. "Okay, that''s enough! We''ll get you two registered right away." The employee didn''t want things to escalate any further, separating the two and sending them to different desks. She personally set up Karo''s registration. "That boy said his name is Karo?" Some spectators began to talk as the two left, wanting to spark up conversation. Many took notice of the youth who was unwilling to step to the side. "So young, yet so brave, unwilling to move over for such a monstrous looking man." "Not brave, suicidal! Does he really think he can fight this Red Mountain Guro? He must be mentally lacking!" Some really thought this way, doubting the youth''s ability. After all, he was just too young. How strong could a youth who seemed to just be fifteen be? Regardless of speculations, Karo quickly found himself at an empty desk with the lady employee. She cracked a warm smile, thinking to herself that the boy in front of her seemed kind of cute. "So you said your name is Karo Riverbliss, fifteen, and come from Rose Grove City?" She asked, quickly writing down notes and organizing a profile for him. "Yup. I was wondering if you could explain how things work at Heaven''s Arena?" Karo looked all around him, still amazed at how large and tall Heaven''s Arena was. He was used to attractions in Rose Grove City, but Heaven''s Arena beat them all! "Okay. So Heaven''s Arena is split into 251 Floors. Each floor contains their own set of matches, with the higher the floor the stronger the competitors. The goal for any martial artist to advance to higher floors; where the competition is harder, the rewards larger, and the fights tougher!" "Winning a match in the first 199 floors earns you prize money. By the 50th floor, the reward for a single win is 50,000 Jenny! On the 100th floor, you earn your own private room and get a million Jenny per win!" This news struck Karo like a baseball bat, causing him to widen his eyes. One million Jenny per win!? And only at the 100th level? This Heaven''s Arena was rich! Very, very rich! "The 100th floor is where you should set your goals, there are very strong competitors there. Hopefully, you can reach there after a few months of training - if you are as talented as you seem!" The lady winked and smiled, liking Karo more and more. "What happens after the 199th floor? You said that there''s no more prize money?" Karo''s interest didn''t lie at the mere 100th floor! He wanted to ascend all the way to the top of Heaven''s Arena, claiming himself as the top martial artist! However elusive this dream seemed, Karo couldn''t help but dream it a bit. The employee''s eyes widened as she saw the faint desire in Karo''s eyes as he spoke. She inwardly shook her head, she had seen that desire in far too many people. Little do those people know that reaching the fiftieth floor is already an achievement, not to mention the 200th floor. At the 200th floor, only monsters and hidden dragons lie. "The 200th floor is a different league. At that point, competitors are competing for glory - not money. The competitors there are people you can''t comprehend, all of them are monstrous. The 21 highest ranked competitors are Floor Masters - they are the absolute rulers of Heaven''s Arena!" The employee couldn''t help but raise her voice a little bit at mentioning those famous Floor Masters. They were legendary existences! Many of them were highly qualified Hunters that even the Hunter Association had to treat with respect! But she also noticed the desire in Karo''s eyes increase even further, only causing her to feel a bit of regret. "Ah! Why am I speaking all of this to a child! For now, just focus on getting to the 100th floor, okay?" The employee calmed down and said with a caring smile. "Uh-huh. Thanks for the help, Mrs. Okoro. You said my first match should be starting soon?" Karo appreciated the explanation, it finally gave him a clear goal to strive for. He smiled politely and stepped from the desk and went to the fighting lobby. He was ready to reach the 200th floor, and eventually chase those famous Floor Masters. But first, he had to climb his way to the 199th floor. Not to mention that buffoon ''Red Mountain Guro''. [CH.5] First Fight! Threats! "So this is the first floor!" Karo muttered under his breath, stepping through a corridor. He was hit with the large scene of a huge arena, with rows of bleachers and seats surrounding it. At the bottom stage were several different fighting stages, where separate individual fights were going on. Occasionally the crowd would burst into a loud roar of cheers for a new winner. "Number 2261, go up to stage 3 to face #2201 please!" A voice boomed through the speakers, perking Karo''s attention. He grinned, as he was number 2261. He strolled down to the main stage, going to the fighting stage marked with a large and bold 3. "Let''s see who my fighter is." Karo climbed the steps into the medium sized-stage, where he saw his opponent and the referee. The referee wore the bright red employee outfit with a gloved punch in the center. As he looked at Karo he broke an amused smile; he wanted to see what surprise the boy would bring. Karo''s eyes, however, were scanning over his bulky opponent. Most likely a kind of powerlifter, his whole body was swelled and red like a tomato, with a long dragon tattoo across his right arm. Seeing the relatively plain and simply dressed Karo, he broke out into a mocking laugh. "Who brought a kid here? C''mon ref, I don''t even think he''s shaved before!" Number 2201 looked over at the referee, thinking he would cancel the fight immediately. "Don''t underestimate anyone here - this is Heaven''s Arena after all!" The referee didn''t have any intention of doing so, lifting his hand to signal the start of the fight. "No weapons and I want a clean fight, otherwise you may begin!" The referee swung his arm down, beginning the fight. "Kiddo, you can''t be serious! Ah, let me do your pops a favor and send you on your way!" The bulky and slightly overweight opponent took a step forward, raising his large meaty fist. He swung fiercely downwards, aiming to knock Karo away.Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. "Too sluggish!" Karo stood where he was, completely calm, fearless when it came to the incoming attack. Just when it seemed like that fist would hit him, he ducked dramatically - the oversized punch flying over him. "Huh!?" Those in the crowd turned their attention to the fight, anticipating the expected beatdown of the youth. But as they saw him dodge the punch so effortlessly, they unexpectedly began to feel for Karo''s opponent. "Uppercut Swing!" Karo''s leg muscles suddenly flexed, as he jumped upwards from his previous crouched position. His fist skyrocketed upwards along with his body, slamming into the bottom jaw of the overweight man''s chin - shooting #2201''s neck backward. And with that, Karo''s opponent''s eyes fluttered and closed - effectively knocked out. "Thump!" #2201''s body hit the stage with a large thump, completely the opposite of Karo''s soft landing on his toes. A smile cracked on Karo''s face, as he looked at his unconscious opponent on the floor. "Complete win! Good job, sport!" The referee watched all of this with an expectant smile, he had a good feeling about this youth. He typed in some digits into his device, producing a white ticket with some info. "Head to floor 50, there you''ll find a little bit harder competition." All in the meanwhile, the observing crowd burst into a wild flurry of cheers. "Who is that kid!? He''s so strong!" All sorts of praise came from the crowd, but it quickly died down when another wonderous scene appeared in a nearby stage. "Gahh..agh!" A martial artist was being held by the throat, suspended up in the air with his feet dangling below. The arm holding the martial artist was strong and muscular, with its veins bulging out as a testament to its strength. This arm belonged to a locally infamous man named as Red Mountain Guro! He was unmistakable, with his flamboyant and outlandish spiked red hair and his flashy look. A wide grin was on Guro''s face as he looked at his victim squirm and reach across his powerful arm. "Let go of him!" The referee naturally wouldn''t let this stand, stepping forward and separating the two. He shook his head at Guro and typed into his device, producing another ticket. "Wow! That''s the man known as Red Mountain Guro! I hear he has been training in the forests for years to hone his martial arts!" All types of rumors and cheers burst out from the crowd, though a large amount were unhappy with his cruel and brutish tactics. But as Karo was watching this scene, Guro looked across stages and made eye contact. Guro, with a mocking smile, pointed at his now passed out victim and pointed at Karo. He was claiming he would do the same to Karo! Karo saw this and only lightly chuckled, turning towards Guru. He was getting excited for this Heaven''s Arena! [CH.6] Floor 50! Zushi and His Master? Karo took one more good look at Red Mountain Guru, faintly tasting a mix of displeasure and excitement. "Such arrogant behavior. I guess you don''t learn much about manners in the mountains." Karo offhandedly responded to Guru''s blatant threat, his voice cool without any sense of urgency. "Manners? The forest doesn''t care about manners, boy. Your two fists are all the manners you need." Guru bellowed out, laughing heartily. Well concealed in that laughter, was a deep sense of ill will. "Hmph. Well, maybe it''s time for someone to teach you that there''s a little bit more to life." Karo began to threateningly crack his knuckles, turning towards Guru. He truly did not like this fellow. "Competitors! Wait until your match. Until then, both of you go to floor 50!" The two referees said in unison, urging the two to get off the stage. Fights outside of an arena were strictly prohibited. Karo only slightly shrugged and stepped down from his stage, met with countless impressed looks from fans and surrounding competitors. "Who knew a kid could be this strong? What kind of beasts are here at Heaven''s Arena?" All sorts of cries came from the crowd, all the while Karo smoothly walked to the elevator to go to floor 50. But then something, or someone, caught his eye. "Big brother! Hold up, please!" A boy, not much younger than Karo himself, jogged to meet up with Karo. Due to Karo''s natural street instincts, he was immediately on guard, but after sensing the boy''s aura he began to relax. "What is it, friend?" Karo was in a new environment, and it was a good time to make friends with locals in the area. And of course, he wouldn''t turn down the boy''s friendly manners. "My name is Zushi, and I''ve been here at Heaven''s Arena for the past few months with my master. I noticed something special about you, and just was curious if you wanted to talk." Zushi was wearing a classic karate outfit, and despite his short stature, clearly spoke of a solid foundation in martial arts. Karo was even slightly impressed. "Of course! My name is Karo, and I''m from Rosegrove City. I''m new here and will take any advice about Heaven''s Arena. I still haven''t quite found how everything works." "Oh that''s easy, big brother..." Karo and Zushi continued to chat along until they finally reached the 50th floor. It was soon time for Karo''s match when they were finally pulled apart. "Big brother, before you go, there was something my master felt you should know. He said that that Red Mountain Guru guy was trouble, and based on your performance on the first floor, it would be best for you to avoid him. Please take heed!" Zushi nodded respectfully and left with this warning, which was most likely the main reason he struck up a conversation with Karo in the first place.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on the original website. "Trouble? That hunk of meat?" Karo carefully thought to himself. He had already labeled Red Mountain Guru as a dumb meat-head; who knew that Zushi''s Master apparently saw much more. "Hmm. I thank you for the warning, I will definitely consider it. Wish me luck on the match." Karo bid Zushi farewell, preparing to step on the arena as he reflected on the warning. Was there something he missed about Guru? Meanwhile, on the stage, Karo was met with another muscular brute. Clearly smaller than his first opponent, but also one who frequented the gym often. Just based on his aura, Karo could tell this would be a much tougher fight. "3...2...1...begin!" Neither Karo nor his opponent spoke as they were completely judging the other. The person to make the first move would set the tempo of the fight, Karo thought. "Well if you won''t do anything, I might as well lead!" Karo dug his foot into the ground and burst forward in an impressive bout of speed. His fist flew forward, aiming for a straightforward punch on his opponent''s chest. "Hmph." Unlike his first floor opponent, this one clearly had much more skill. He raised his arm and threw out an equally mighty punch to clash with Karo. "!?" Karo suddenly felt a sense of extreme danger and was reminded that he had very little true fighting experience. All of the fights he had in the past were against thugs or rich folk, with all sorts of tools and gadgets to give himself an advantage. His physical strength was actually quite lacking! If his fist was to meet head-on with his opponents, it was a coin flip on who''s fist would come out on top. Clearly, it wouldn''t be that easy from here on forward! That sense of immediate danger actually saved Karo from a possible broken hand, and with a slight maneuver, he dodged his opponent''s counter-attack. Relying on pure speed, he went into a floor sweep to throw his opponent off balance. ''He''s quick!'' Karo''s opponent attempted to jump up, but Karo''s legs locked onto his calves and forced him into a stumble. Just managing to catch himself, he found himself facing a rapidly approaching fist onto his face. PEW! Karo''s opponent''s face recoiled backward from the fist, but surprisingly, flashed forward in the same instant. Karo felt a meaty hand grab onto his shoulder and his sense of danger shot up. "Good attack, kid. But here''s where you end!!!" Karo tried to break himself free, but the tight grip only painfully alerted Karo to his lack of physical strength. He could only brace himself as he was tossed into the air - landing against the arena ground with a harsh thump. Luckily he recovered with a roll, saving him from his opponent''s follow up kick. Wiping a small slip of blood from his mouth, he came under the somber feeling that Heaven''s Arena was going to be more of a challenge than he expected. "You brute..." Karo angrily spat, dashing forward in a zig-zag pattern. If his strength was lacking, then he would rely on his speed! He decided he would hit his opponent with a flurry of attacks he wouldn''t be able to respond with. THUMP, THUMP, THUMP Blows landed one after the other, taking their toll on their target. Karo was completely focused, careful to avoid another counterattack. His opponent became more and more frustrated, it seemed almost like Karo was completely elusive - unable to be touched. And as Karo knew very well, with frustration comes mistakes. Seeing an opening, he climbed up his opponent''s back and put him into a famous chokehold - relying on his size to stay in an unreachable position. Karo''s opponent could only flail and reach at his back before his vision began to blur and his breathing became increasingly ragged. The referee swiftly called the end of the fight and congratulated Karo on his victory. But Karo''s eyes were void of any celebration, only filled with bitter disappointment and self-ridicule. If it took him this much effort to beat a floor 50 opponent, how would he be able to face Mountain Guru? Suddenly, Zushi''s earlier words made a whole lot of sense.
