《The God World》 1 - The start *beep beep beep* Roy opened his eyes, and realized that he has finally become 16 years old. As usual he wakes up to the annoying alarm of his S Phone 7. It''s 7.00 and he''s hungry. He has been living on only a few Credits for a week. So he''s only eaten bread and butter for the past few days. He gets up, and eats. After he''s finished he goes to the United Human Alliance to go to the famous God World. God World is a strange place that appeared around 50 years ago, in the year 2068. It was first a portal looking ''thing'' so when people saw it, they didn''t think much of it. Portals have been around since 2057 after all. But when someone tried going through it, they never came back. After a while, the United Human Alliance sent its people in, and when they returned, everyone was shocked. Apparently, there was a whole new world there. At first people didn''t believe it, but after other people went in, they told of a world with monsters, magic... And even something called ''levels''. This was amazing to almost everyone. When other people reported what it was like there, they were even more shocked. The ''monsters'' there couldn''t be hurt by modern guns. Or at most, they just left some minor marks behind. Because there were also people there, now called Humans, they tried asking them about this world. The Humans call them ''Blessed people'', and told them that this was the ''God World''. Of course everyone already knew that, because there was something like a ''game menu'' that said in bold letters "God World" when anyone entered these strange portals. The Humans weren''t very useful at first, but they gradually became. It wasn''t that they were learning, humans just didn''t know how to speak to them. The Humans also helped hunt monsters. But in a different way... They used swords, used the so called ''system'' to form a party and share EXP with humans. When people finally got to Level 3, they could kill Level 0 monsters on their on. They also experienced a growth in their physical prowess. This seemed to be caused by their ''attributes'' or ''stats'' rising. These changes also carried on to the human world, so people were overjoyed. The portals to enter God World were in almost every country on every inhabited planet, so Roy had an easy time getting to one. He had to wait about 30 minutes to enter, because it was his first time. He had to fill out different forms about himself and provide an identification to confirm who he was, and if he really was 16 years old or older. This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. Once he got that settled, he entered the portal. Roy exclaimed. He was very happy to finally enter God World. He''s always dreamed of this. Here he could become powerful, get rich, or anything else he desired. He was looking around excitedly. He started walking around and exploring the town. He soon found the market, auction house, different 1 - 2 star hotels and everything else. It was a fairly decent town. But it was still nothing compared to all the bigger cities and capitals of bigger countries, kingdoms and empires he had heard about. But then he thought ''Huh? Lucky Man Returned? Since when am I lucky?'' He was surprised because he thought he always had bad luck. "I''ve never won anything, have to come 20 minutes earlier to get on the bus, or else I''ll miss it, five birds relieved themselves on me this month alone, and it''s still only the fourth day of the month! ... Whatever, maybe it''s one of those ironically generated names." That has happened before, after all, Usernames were generated by the God World System according to the persons character traits. And the system may be an advanced AI, so there is a possibility that it has a sense of ''humor''. "Okay, first I need to register my class." he wanted to become a swordsman. It was what he practiced and loved. He had a passion for sword fighting, and enjoyed doing it. Humans have, after all, began practicing this kind of stuff once again since the God World was discovered. He went to the town hall and registered as a swordsman. [Class acquired: Tier 0 - Swordsman] "Alright, finally! Let''s check my stats!" after that, he just thought ''Open Stats''. [Opening Stats: Lucky Man Returned / Roy Luck - Nixxion Empire - Dener Town Tier 0 Level 0 EXP 0 / 100 Strength 1 Vitality 1 Defense 1 Agility 1 Intelligence 5 (2 + 3) Wisdom 5 (2 + 3) Gifts: Intelligence+ (minor): gives INT +3 Wisdom+ (minor): gives WIS +3] 2 - Leveling Up [Lucky Man Returned / Roy Luck - Nixxion Empire - Dener Town Tier 0 Level 0 EXP 0 / 100 LP 10 / 10 Strength 1 Vitality 1 Defense 1 Agility 1 Intelligence 5 (2 + 3) Wisdom 5 (2 + 3) Gifts: Intelligence+ (minor) Wisdom+ (minor)] "Huh?" Roy was surprised. "Intelligence and Wisdom are so high!" It was 5 times higher than average people. "... Okay yeah... I aced all of my exams, and I am very good at learning and memorizing stuff. But still! Isn''t that a little too high?". Roy also knew quite a few languages, a lot of stuff about GW, advanced math, physics etc. He even knew some ancient languages and animal / monster languages. He knew ancient English, because he liked the language, UHA''s universal language (all humans knew it by now), some alien tongues (because they were in wars and allegiances with some), the orcish, goblin and other common monsters'' tongues because he thought they were interesting and important for any and all adventures, he knew brail and morse code, binary and others. He actually got far less accomplishments than a person with INT, and WIS 5 should get.... ". . . Aah, so it''s because of the Gifts. My standard probably just barely reached the top of humans, so it counted it as an attribute with 2 points. And added 3 points because of the Gifts. Not like I''m going to complain." He was happy to see he was above a normal ''mortal'' being. "Let''s just grind Levels for now." He said as he went to buy a local map. There was a map in God World''s Menu (something like Status Screen), but it was still blank, as he just came here, and hadn''t discovered anything. You could buy a local map for about 10 Copper Coins around towns and learn it like a skill book in games. Then it would just integrate into your persons Map. "I got 100 CC (Copper Coins) when I entered God World, and spent 5 to register as a swordsman, so I still have 95 left. Then I''ll buy a detailed map for around 15 CC, and get myself a Trash, Level 0 sword... And I should have around 20 CC left by then." [Standard Damage - Blunt Weapons] [Standard Damage - Melee Weapons] [Standard Damage - Spells] ... "So there''s a lot of them." he said as he proceeded to select Melee Weapons. [Helpful Guide: Yeah there a lot of these equations. Sooo for the Melee Weapons there are two. 1st there is for a normal attack, and that''s this: {True Damage Dealt* = (10 x D / T**) x (STR*** + AGI*** / 2) - (DEF**** + STR**** / 1000) + Other (user specific system variables)} *the Damage you deal / how many LP (Life Points) they lose **Depth of your ''cut'' or whatever and the Time it took for you to make the ''cut'' ***your attributes ****opponents attributes FOR increases some of the Attributes so be aware of that. Also, for those that don''t know, FOR = Fortitude. It''s a hidden attribute, so just say it and you''ll get an achievement for finding it (only if you''re really new to GD and still have the GD''s starter bonus). 2nd there is an equation for skills, and that will be said at any skill description for when you first inspect or appraise something (or if you have the tutorial mode active): {True Damage = (10 x D / T) x (STR + AGI / 2) - (DEF + STR / 1000) + Other (user specific system variables)} so: {True Damage Dealt (for skills) = 100% Standard Damage for Melee Weapons + (a*% (or) b**)} *how many % the skill adds **True Damage skill adds BTW, that Other is there to mess up our calculations, if we want to predict the DMG (Damage). Stolen novel; please report.Maybe it was even there so the System can just make a semi random DMG number, that looks kinda right. Basically all you need to know is that melee weapons deal more damage the higher you STR and AGI are, and the lower your opponent''s are. You should target their weak spots, or go with whatever you are best at. Hope that I was helpful! -Helpful Guide out] "Okay... Wow... Who made this? But at least I understand now, somewhat. Now I have enough money for a few days." He bartered for the sword, and now had 3 CC more than he expected at first. "I think I''ll buy a small tent, and some dried meat jerky. I''ll probably stay hunting for a few days." ... "I don''t think I need anything else... Sure, let''s go!" He was thrilled to finally go on an adventure. He went north, into the fields. There he found a bunch of Level 0 Skeletons solo roaming around. They were around 100 meters away from each other, so he wasn''t afraid that they would gang up on him. He was a little nervous, but that was all. He wanted the thrill of adventure, and now he was going to get it. [Normal Skeleton - LvL 0 LP 50 / 50 A normal Skeleton.] "easy now... don''t turn this way... aaand... SLASH!!!" [-20 LP] The Skeleton turned around, mad. It tried to yell, but it just made rattling sounds. And as it was about to use a Skill itself, BAM: Roy struck again dealing another -11 LP. That disrupted the Skeleton''s move, and it received a backlash: -7 LP. It was now really mad. It wanted to tear Roy apart and eat him. It quickly used it''s own Slash Skill, cleanly chopping off Roy''s left arm. At the same moment, Roy screamed: "AHHHHH!! SHIT!". Never feeling pain like this before, he madly yelled "I''M GONNA KILL YOU!!". If he wouldn''t be able to finish this fight quickly, he would most definitely bleed to death. He used his second Skill, Cut, but the Monster evaded before it could get hurt. It became happy that Roy would die soon, because how could a human ever kill a Monster of the same Level alone? Much less for a Level 0 newbie like him. The Skeleton even got a Healing (light) effect, seemingly because of it''s ecstatic state. [+5 LP] When Roy saw the Skeleton regenerate 5 whole LP, he was shocked. Getting shocked and angry at the same time, the starter bonus activated. [Achievement Got - Shocked and Angry, the way in a Battle! This will be quick. All Attributes Double for 1 Minute, make sure to kill the Skeleton, alright?] He was now feeling all powerful. He didn''t have time to think what was happening. He slashed at the Skeleton and dealt -7 LP of damage. In his mind, he was yelling "10 Life Points left, COME ON!". The Skeleton saw Roy''s might soaring, so it wanted to finish this quickly. Using the Cut SKill, it made a giant mark on Roy''s chest. Now feeling even more pain, he attacked again. Miss. Attack once again. Miss. [-5 LP], when Roy saw that, he was ecstatic, but soon heard another notification [Critical State! 1 LP left!]. It was what the Skeleton had dealt him! He was speechless, was he really going to die here? On his first ''adventure''? No! It was almost 30 seconds since the fight started. He just had to wait for the Cooldown of ''Slash'' and he would survive. He started focusing on dodging. The Skeleton was amazed that the human was still alive. It thought it was disgrace to all Monsters because it hadn''t killed the lone human already. It started attacking madly. It was extremely pissed. Dodge, dodge, dodge. Three dodges? How could it let this happen. But it was too late. Roy''s Slash was usable. He quickly activated it. [+5 LP] came the notification from its Healing "NOOOOO!" [-23 LP] [Congratulations! Roy felt power surging into him. "I feel invincible!" That was because of a Level Up. Every Level will double your Base Attributes, so you would of course feel immense Power. Not to mention a 256 x increase in power. But this was just an illusion. There were too many, too strong entities for a mere Level 8 human to do anything of importance, being invincible was completely out of the question. Only after a while had he calmed down. After he thought about it for a while, he decided to go with the former. "I''ll first get 5000 Items, so I can exchange them for Quest rewards. After all, if you give more than they ask for, they will give you better rewards.". Selecting the ''5000 Items'' option, he got 5000 Common Skeleton Bones in his Inventory. "I''m done with that, but now comes the Equipment pieces. 2500 could be sold for quite some money, even if they are all Trash Quality. He quickly turned around to check, but the Monster had already disappeared from turning into EXP. "Well, this ring is white, so it''s not a stretch to say it really was wearing it. Even so, a short epiphany once a day, that''s amazing!" He exclaimed. "Even if it''s for 30 seconds, if it''s during a battle, then I can partly figure out my opponents strategy and moves and, and..." Roy lost his cool again, but the Calming Mind Buff was still active, taking effect immediately. "This is even Set Equipment, so it''s even better! And I have all five pieces!" he said while equipping the whole Set. 4 - Titles After he equipped the whole set, he got a tremendous power up. All combined, he got: +1160 DEF, +700 VIT, +230 AGI, 4 Skills, and an Aura. He also got two Hidden Attribute increases: +1 PER, and +2 CHA. Then there was the Mysterious Ring, that he didn''t know what was so special about it to have such an amazing Skill. The whole set even grew with his Level, at least until Level 100. Growth Type Equipment was rare, so if someone got their hands on a piece, and a whole set to be exact, they could gain even more power. If Roy wanted to sell or exchange a piece, he could do so for something of a higher rarity. Not to mention the fact that he had the whole set, which would all together sell for even more! The ring also increased two different Hidden Attributes, so there was no doubt about it''s value, or power. He wanted to get the Appraisal Skill as soon as possible so that he could see the details for himself, but it cost 100 Gold Coins. Even then, he first needed to Level Up. He also had the Elite Sword Reward, and the Titles left, so he needed to deal with those first. That''s awesome! And even a 1.5 x passive Multiplier! But what''s that? ''Achievements Pack 1''? Does that mean, that I can get more Achievements? Maybe... I''ll have to find out later. But Regeneration, that''s even better than Healing! I can''t believe I got that!" Roy was very glad that he got Regeneration instead of Healing. The main difference between the two is that Healing will patch up wounds, like his earlier lost arm, and restore LP. While Regeneration would grow you back a new arm and restore LP. "But wait..." He said in a grim tone. "Shit! I could have gotten 2 extra Luck Points for the Equipment Pieces... Well, it''s too late now. No point to think about it anymore." After a while he proceeded to enable all of the Titles he got. "Now... the last thing is the ''Swords'' Reward." He thought about it, and decided that he will chose the ''Less but Better'' deal. "A Secret Weapon? How is that better than a Legendary one?" Roy asked himself, confused. He had never heard of a Secret tier / rarity before. There were only around a hundred Legendary Tier Equipment Pieces publicly know in the whole God World, so how could there ever be a higher Tier? When he thought about it for a while, it didn''t seem impossible. But even then, how could a Secret Weapon ever help him. You could only equip something that was within your power level, or in other words: only use things of which requirements you met. For the first 3 Tiers of quality, that would still be quite low, but after that, the requirements would increase more and more. From Tiers 0 (Trash) - 3 (Rare), the power would only increase 10 x per Tier. From Tier 3 to 4 (Supreme), it would be 100 x. From Tier 4 to 5, 1000 x. And then an absolutely massive leap. From Tiers 5 to 7 it would be a whole 1 000 000 x. From Tier 7 to Tier 8 (Legendary) the general public didn''t even know. That secret would be kept from them, because those who had Tier 8 weapons were one of the absolute strongest people known. So of course, they didn''t share these secrets. If a Secret Weapon really was Tier 9, then it would be useless to him, or at least for a very, very, very long time. It was true that if he got an Elite Weapon, he could not use it right now. But he could get it after some time, if he survived that long. It would be long time, but if and when he could use it, then there would be a massive leap in his power. After he thought for some time, he asked himself "Wait... tenth person? There are nine more people out there with Secret-Tier equipment?" He thought that those must be the true rulers of the universe. If even one of those people could use a Secret Weapon, they could most probably annihilate every know life form. "Let''s just check the title for now" [Title: Secret Weapon Holder!: I can personally tell that Orbo would help you the most. So I''ll put you on a ''path'' to meet him. Be sure to be nice to him, or you''ll be in danger ;). Even I couldn''t help you then. This Title is always Enabled, you cannot Disable it.] "Orbo? Who is that? And is the God World''s System controlled by someone? It said that it would put me on a path with him... So it''s supposedly helping me? But I don''t know who this person even is... and I''m supposed to meet him..." He pondered for a while, and decided that he would do things normally. And if he meets someone named Orbo, he would ask him who he is, and decide if he could trust him. If not, he could only run and hide, maybe not even that. If this person has power to deal, and know about Secret Weapons, then he couldn''t ever fight them. Not to mention that they are related to something that can at least influence the system. And this Title was always enabled, something he had never heard about before. There were things like a constant reputation in a region or with a group, but those were under the condition that the other party could identify you if they met you... Roy left to return to town to purchase a Common Sword. He got a fairly good one for 83 SC. It would have cost him more, but he was around 31 times smarter than a normal person (not to say that the seller had nothing that increased his Stats). He bargained for a while with the old NPC Merchant, who was nasty to say the least. He wanted 250 SC just for a normal Common Sword. The most expansive a Common Sword could be worth was 125 SC, and even then, it would have to be something special. He thought it was time to accept his first Quest, so he went to a Town Guard to get an extermination-type Quest. It was, of course, for killing Skeleton Monsters for Common Skeleton Bones. It was a Beginner Quest so he only needed to collect 10 of them, which he could complete 500 times. But he wanted to hand over more than the required amount for a better reward. 500 times the amount would be good, but he wanted even more. If he could at least get to 10 000 bones (1000 times the amount), maybe he could even meet someone important in Dener. *** "..." "He didn''t even notice that I made it to require only a 100 x Multiplier to Upgrade from Elite to Legendary. He could at least be Grateful..." "Ehh. Just let him be. He is only a human child, how could he ever understand what you did for him." someone said in an arrogant voice. "Yes my Lady," another person said, in a more respectful voice. "he is but a child. You can''t be too mad with him." "..." "If I may suggest, my Lady, maybe you should test (punish) him a little. To show that you disapprove of this treacherous behavior." The respectful voice said again. "Maybe I should... Fine, I''ll cause him a little trouble." she said with a smile. 5 - Skeletons [You Received a Message from: The Lady] "???" "What''s this? A Message? oh..." "It''s from her... hope she doesn''t need something again. Welp, should check it anyway, just to be sure" [The Lady: Hi Orbo! <3 I hope I''m not bothering you right? Well anyways. There''s a human child with a Secret Weapon. A sword to be exact... He is still a low LvL and i thought you would be perfect for taking care of this one. Here''s his file: [Lucky Man Returned - Roy Luck]. Bye and gl ;) xoxo The Lady xoxo <3 <3 <3] "haaa... unfortunately can''t skip this one... first gotta check him out." [Lucky Man Returned is a...] *O _ O''* "Oh? I guess she didn''t even check this one." "How could she have missed this? She said he was human right? Then why... Oho, this is interesting... it''s going to be fun meeting you, Roy." *** "Let''s go kill some Skeleton!" Roy killed the Skeleton Monsters swiftly, ending each one with a single swing of his sword. After a while, he noticed something. This was way too slow. The bone drops were somewhere between 0 - 3 Common Skeleton Bones per Skeleton. But because they were around 100 meters away from each other, he could only kill one at a time. They also gave him only 150 EXP per kill. He usually got 2 or 3 Bones, but he didn''t think much of it. Still, it would take quite a while. He thought about how to kill them more efficiently and decided that he would gather them together, and kill them then. Getting them to follow him and gather together was easy for him. He did, after all, have AGI 700+, which would mean he could be 700+ times faster than a normal human. He wasn''t that fast because he still couldn''t process things at those speeds, and because you can''t always run at your top speed, but he was still several times faster than a normal human. When he gathered around a thousand Skeleton, he turned around and saw a massive horde of them following him. These Monsters weren''t intelligent, so he wasn''t worried that they would stop following him. He also saw some Uncommon ones, and got excited for the epic fight to ensue. He dashed towards them activating Wind Rider, his speed gaining a 100% Boost. With his overall speed boosted, he could attack faster, think faster, and move faster. [Common Skeleton - LvL 3 LP 400 / 400] [Uncommon Skeleton - LvL 0 LP 5000 / 5000] He quickly finished off around 200 Commons. Having more moving space around himself, he started fighting the higher-ranked Skeletons. Monster Tiers would would be 10 times stronger than their Item counter-parts, so he was lucky he had more than 1 piece of Uncommon equipment. But they were still no match for Roy. He slayed them one by one, in seconds each. After killing the second Uncommon he Leveled Up, his Attributes doubling. Even though some were among Levels 2 or 3, he could still kill them. Now that he Leveled Up, he could kill the stronger Skeletons in less than a second each. In almost half a minute, almost all Uncommons were killed. He started killing normal Skeleton again, claiming tens of lives with each swing. This was truly a massacre. Within a few minutes, he finally killed them all. There were no more Monsters in this area. He even Leveled Up once again. He only Leveled Up once because there was a massive leap in the EXP needed for around each 10 Levels. He''d also gained another fifteen hundred Common Bones, and almost a hundred Uncommon ones from this horde alone. Next thing done was going around killing all other Skeletons. He thought it would be easy to Level Up further, but he forgot that after you were a certain Level higher than the Monster you killed, you would not gain any more EXP, leaving him half way between 11, and 12.Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. He also had to go in-town to store the bones and equipment he got in a Bank from time to time, wasting it because he had to individually put each stack into it (Bank doubles as a storage house, or personal warehouse). When there was only one Monster left he was extremely disappointed. He had to stop his killing spree, which was something that meant that he could no longer get more bones. He''d been killing them for almost a day now, and the only thing he could do was to wait a few days to let them to respawn again. When suddenly... [System Requirements Meet: All Skeleton Monsters are killed around Town Dener.] [Generating...] [Spawning: Rare Skeleton LvL 5 x 3] "PPPPFFFFFFFFF!" Roy nearly spat out blood. "WHAT?! WHY?! WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!" this was something crazy. An average Level 5 Rare Skeleton would be more than 3000 times stronger than a Common Level 0 one. And although Roy was now stronger then ever, he still couldn''t compete with a Rarity 2 Monster. A Level 5 would even have around 300 INT and 30 WIS. That would mean it''s 23 times smarter than the average human (not including humans that entered and are from GW). Just when he wanted to run away, something popped up, something unheard of. [Special Quest Activated: Saving Dener Town: Kill the 3 Rare Skeleton LvL 5s that are attacking Dener Town by any means necessary. In turn, Dener Town will no longer be surrounded by Skeleton Monsters. If you fail, you will lose all EXP, and suffer a constant ''EXP -99.999%'' gaining Debuff. The Town will also suffer casualties.] "WHAT THE F*CK IS IT NOW?! I HAVE TO KILL THEM?! HOW AM I... BAHHH!" Roy was now royally pissed. How could he ever kill the Rares? He couldn''t. He had to find some help, and fast. In panic he tried to call the Town Guards quickly, but it was too late. The enemies had already spoten him. They quickly dashed towards him, prepared to kill. They were very fast. Although they couldn''t respond to their surroundings at max speed, because their cognitive ability was too low, they could still run towards him without seeing him clearly. The only advantage Roy had was his brain power. With it, he could be faster then they were, and still clearly (more clear than they could) see them to evade their attacks. That way he could stall until a Town Guard came to help him out. The only few problems were that they could kill him with one hit, he couldn''t damage them no matter how much he tried, or with how strong of a force he attacked, and that he didn''t even know if the Town Guards noticed their arrival. In a second, the three Skeletons were next to him slashing madly. One had a sword, another claw blades, and the last one a whip. Suddenly the whip came flying towards him. Roy quickly dodged, but it still scraped his left shoulder, wounding him badly. Blood started spraying in his chestplate and onto his arm. "They''re way too strong!" he thought. If that whip had hit him somewhere else, he would be a dead man. In the next moment 3 claws came down on him from his left. He wanted to dodge, but there was no time left. He used his Block Skill, but it only somewhat negated the damage. The rest of the attack tore at his chestplate, almost destroying it in one hit. Roy was now terrified. Two attacks in a row that could have killed him instantly. He wanted to survive, no matter what. He hastily used Epiphany, clearing his mind, and putting to rest all unnecessary thoughts. He saw that the Swordsman Skeleton was standing by the side, patiently watching them. He understood right away, it was waiting for the perfect moment. It wanted to strike when there was no way he could dodge or block. Roy started twisting and turning in a way that distanced himself more and more from the swordsman Monster. They all saw this and started changing formations. It was like they were children that lived together and came together from the abyss just to kill him. Roy immediately understood what they were doing. He ran away from the whip slashing Skeleton to avoid getting caught by it''s weapon. Just as he did, the thing he feared the most suddenly came down on his previous location, smashing the ground and making a crater 5 meters wide. This scared Roy even more, but he still kept his cool because of the Skill. He twisted and turned, dodged, and ran. All seeming like a well rehearsed play. The Monsters were weirded out by this. How could a human ''dance'', and in the middle of a life and death battle no less. But they still attacked, not pausing for a second. After some time, they again saw that their attacks didn''t work on him. They started changing formations once again. This time they all attacked together! They were beginning to doubt that this was some normal weak human (but a crazy one). If he was, how could he ever do things like this (dance around wildly)? They didn''t care though, instead becoming mad at him for playing with them. From the anger, the Claw Slasher actually went Berserk. This tripled it''s Attributes, making it even more ferocious then the other two combined. When Roy saw the red glow in it''s eyes it reminded him of his Skeleton''s Skull helmet''s red glow. But he didn''t dwell on it. When the Claw Slasher became Berserk, it did however, cut it''s INT and WIS in half. Making it''s movements seem more monotonous. Something that made the burden of fighting it less difficult. Suddenly... "Hey! Hold on! I''m coming to help you! Just wait a little longer!" When Roy heard this, he became ecstatically happy. But there were only a few seconds left on his Epiphany, so the person needed to be fast. Hearing the yelling, the Skeletons even became anxious. They knew this person must be a lot stronger than them, or else they wouldn''t be madly calling out to someone to wait for their arrival. So they started attacking faster, and faster. Trying to kill Roy, before help came. [6] [5] [4] Seconds ticked away. Time slowly flowed by, making each second seem like an hour... [3... 2... 1... 0] [Epiphany has ended!] Slash! 6 - Connections *Slash* *Crack* "Huh? I''m alive?" he thought he was a dead man. But just as the swordsman Skeleton swung its weapon, a broad great-sword cut its whole body clean in half. And although Roy was ecstatic, he still had to remain calm right now. There was a muscular man in front of him. He was probably a Dener guard that had come to save Roy. Right as he thought this, another swing came. This one fell upon the claw slasher. *Crack* it died in an instant, leaving only the whip using Skeleton left. *rattle rattle* The Skeleton was now afraid. If it died like this, then all of its comrades died for nothing. Thousands upon thousands of them were killed at the hands of this human. Yet, now it too would die here? No! It refused to believe this! It was a Rare Skeleton after all! It attacked the new human with all of its might, but its whip was cut in half easily. The force behind the sword that cut it was so strong that the slight pull it made on the weapon still tore its arm''s bones off. All of its efforts were futile. The town guard didn''t want to waste any more time, choosing to end this with one of his Skills. *whoosh* the guard''s sword cut its head clean off... "*phew* That was a close one. I''m sorry I didn''t come sooner, I came as soon as I noticed a disturbance," *pant pant* "Are you ok?" The man asked. "Yeah, *pant pant*, thank you. I-I *ehhh* I would have died." "No problem. Glad to help. Hey... why were there three Rares here? I thought that there were only uncommon and common in these fields?" The man asked, feeling a little confused. There were large oval grass fields around Dener town, and they were populated with thousands of Skeleton Monsters. Some parts were even packed with them. But Rare-ranked or higher didn''t spawn unless there were special circumstances. "There''s also no other bone-heads around here, so what happened?" "*pant* just, ehhh, wait a minute." Roy had to calm down first. He was fighting thousands of monsters before, and had even been ''fighting'' with 3 Rare ones for more than half a minute. He was completely exhausted. Right after catching his breath, he started spewing out the story. "So first I wanted to grind some bones for a quest /.../ and apparently killed all of them in the fields so the high-ranking spawned /.../ and finally you came and killed them." he explained. He told the guard everything truthfully, mostly because he didn''t want to get in trouble and, of course, not lie to the person who saved him. "??? You killed every bone around here? Why did you do that? I mean, you said why, but still. Didn''t you know it could trigger an event? You almost died right now. Jeez man, you almost lost your life." ''''Jeez''? Is he not a-'' Roy thought to himself. "Aren''t you a town guard?" The man chuckled "Haha, no. I''m just an adventurer who traveled here for something. I may be the strongest person present, if we don''t count some of the Humans stationed here." This somewhat surprised Roy. He met an adventurer here, and a strong one at that. "Could you already be Tier 1?" "What? A Tier 1, you must be joking. I''m tier 1.5, you shouldn''t underestimate anyone kid." he paused... "Here''s a friendly tip, always expect the worst case scenario. Even if someone looks weak, you should still act as though they are stronger than you. In this case, I''m friendly, but if you act the same about a Monster, you could easily lose your life." The man said proudly, as if it wasn''t common knowledge to modern adventurers...The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. Roy didn''t like the saying ''tier 1.5'', because it would suggest there is that Tier. Some people would call someone that when they could become Tier 2, but didn''t because of some reason or another. He still felt a little guilty because of ''offending'' him, even though he meant it as a compliment. "What''s your name? You saved me, so I''ll treat you a meal, if you want." Roy offered. "Henry Kline, glad to meet you. And I would love to have a meal." Henry said with a hearty laugh. He seemed friendly, so Roy was glad that he could repay the favor at least a little bit. Although Roy got some messages for the deaths of the Rare Skeletons, he didn''t check them. Repaying Henry was his current priority. They went to Pint Restaurant. It was a 2 star restaurant, so it cost a little more than it normally would to have a meal in a town, but Roy still suggested it. They went inside and saw how crowded it was, but luckily found a spot on the second floor. Roy and Henry both order steak with mashed potatoes and some rice. Henry also got beer, while Roy just drank some tap water. They ate and chatted for more than an hour and got closer to each other. Roy added Henry onto his Friends List, Henry doing the same. His username was ''Good Man 40''. He was 26 years old, and Level 51. He came to this town for some quest, not because this was his area of operation. Henry was a nice man with a fluffy beard, and from his stories Roy found out that he always helps out people in trouble. It was his policy, his way of operating. He was also sociably awkward and shy, at least that''s what he said... When he found out there were really strong Monsters in such a low-level area chasing Roy, he quickly ran to him to help him. Roy wanted to meet him again soon, but Henry had to depart. Maybe they could meet somewhere else, when Roy got stronger and left this region. Before Henry left, he said "Hey, I got 5 Rare Bones earlier, and I think you should have them. It was you, after all, that killed the rest of the Skeleton." Roy wanted to refuse, but Henry insisted, saying that these weren''t that valuable to him anyway. Only after a while had Roy caved in. Roy thought he truly was a... good man. After Henry left, Roy checked his messages. [Special Quest: Saving Dener Town - Complete The immediate vicinity around Dener Town is no longer populated by Skeleton Monsters. 100 GC Title got: Dener Savior] ''?! 100 Gold Coins, that''s amazing! And a title... still think Henry should have gotten it... Never mind, I''ll just check it out.'' [Title: Dener Savior People in Dener will respect you and be thankful of your deeds. You also get certain access in Dener that normally isn''t available at that Reputation.] "Enable!" he shouted, startling the nearby people... ''Cool, I will be respected, and get access to special places!'' he thought to himself joyfully. If he would be respected by Town Nobles, he could probably get in contact with them. Then he would have an easier time buying and selling things, getting jobs and quests, not to mention a possible way of getting in contact with higher-ranked nobles. "But now, I should complete the Skeleton Extermination Quest" he said as he departed from the restaurant and started heading to the town hall. There he found a pretty receptionist, and told her about completing his quest. When he handed over the items, the receptionist girl was stunned. She was even so dazed, so she entered a (very light) weakened state! Overall Roy handed her 40 thousand Common. 500 Uncommon, and 5 Rare Skeleton Bones! Uncommon bones were about 50 times better in quality than Common. And Rare ones were 100 times better than even Uncommon. So it was like he handed her over 65 thousand Common Bones, but even better! Because if you wanted to make good potions, you could refine 50 Common bones to get the quality of one Uncommon, or just get the one better bone. There would be less time spent, and almost the same money invested. The same went for Rare bones. Only after awhile had she ''returned from the clouds'' and thanked him for completing the quest. "Um, the Skeleton Extermination Quest is a D rank quest, so you get 1.25 times the standard reward. Additionally, you completed it with a higher completion rate than SSL, so I need to get someone to further tell you about some things. Please wait a moment." Roy became confused, he completed a quest with a better rating than SSL? How could that be? Was it because of killing all those Monsters? ... "Hello dear adventurer, I''m Daniel, the Dener Town Protector. Nice to meet you, ''savior''." Daniel said with a smile.
