《The Overpowered Wizard》 The Palace in The Sky – 1 (Sancreed¡¯s POV) Did you ever have a crazy, lucid dream? Where you could fly, have all the food that you could remember, fight dragons and pilot spaceships at the same time? week, it feels like that right now. You see, right now I am sitting on a bed of which I presumed that I was sleeping earlier. Red, silky sheets with golden embroidery, a red velvet canopy. An unbelievably soft mattress and pillows, everything looking quite high-class, more than I could ever afford. Looking around, to the stone walls decorated with expensive paintings, high-class furniture with a classic theme and many more decorations in the dorm of tapestries and even a full on statue. Although I have never seen this room before, I know this place. I look down, to my lap, the legs under the silky red blanket. There, rests a letter. I take it with a trembling hand, a bit scared of what I am going to read. ¡°Dear Sancreed,¡± It starts with my nickname online. ¡°as I have told you before, I am a God. One so unbelievably powerful that it escapes most of the concepts that your feeble mind can provide you. When I send you off to your current situation, I barely had time to convey my intentions aside from ¡®I am reincarnating you¡¯. Allow me to correct that and give a well-deserved explanation. You see, after eons of observing the universe in my infinite boredom, I created several realities and universes, as well realities completely unrelated to yours. The one that you find yourself is a shining example, a reality full of magic and monsters, kings and knights, as well peasants and slaves. But that aside, the reason as for why you are here is, in resume, my complete and utter boredom. You are one of the several trillions of lives that I watch daily. And from the events of your life, aside from the very interesting story with your ex-girlfriend and her mother, the one that I most enjoyed to watch was your D&D campaign, and the adventures of your character Sancreed. The story of a nerd who, together with his friends, raises above the gods and achieves immorality, creating for himself a floating fortress and an army of summed and created creatures, was quite charming indeed. I¡¯ll have you know, I¡¯ve been a fan of D&D and Role Playing Games from your reality and few others. The idea of making yourself a different person for a different world and reality is quite enamoring. And now, you¡¯ll be playing that, but on easy mode. I¡¯ve handpicked one of the generic, randomly generated (do not ask about the detail, those were boring billions of years, randomness was a thing I was trying) fantasy world that I have not administrated at all and let other people turn into ¡®gods¡¯, although they are not comparable to a fraction of trillions of my power. There are kings, empires, monsters, demons and angels, as well nomads and other things. And now, I¡¯ve recreated your 20th level wizard, with all it¡¯s prestige class levels and magic, including boons and abilities, as well artifacts and items, including your flying palace! Not only that, I¡¯ve shoved your recently deceased soul in his body! Isn¡¯t it exciting? I¡¯ve done the same for your friends, putting them in different worlds, as a reward for entertaining me for several years as well! As for the reason, there is none! Go wild! Show me how you will live in this body, how you will change the world or do nothing and laze around all day! I personally wish you good luck and happiness, and with all the care in reality, Signed, your creator.¡± So, it wasn¡¯t a dream, I¡¯m actually reincarnated into Sancreed. I pinch my arm, feeling the normal pain from a strong pinch. Yep, this is definitely NOT a dream. I get up in a hurry, looking down to my body. Fit and young, looking quite athletic. The skin is Caucasian, since when I made him, I didn¡¯t have much expectation. The beginning was a hardcore campaign, and being a squishy mage wasn¡¯t exactly the optimal thing to survive in level 1, even more with some AoE using enemies. Fortunately, Sancreed, this character, survived well and long, for long 20 years of several campaigns. After all, I passed away from age at 96. Oh, and Sancreed is my actual name as well, Sancreed Chandler, although this is not the exact name of the character, which is just Sancreed. He said I would keep all my powers, which I know how to use for some reason. Even magic, I know how to use it freely. It seems that this body came together with the knowledge how to use it, including the amazing amount of artifacts. Not only that, I can remember perfectly everything¡ and I mean EVERYTHING of my life and items from my campaigns. And the reason for that seems to be my character¡¯s stat of intelligence, that is 48, stupidly high in D&D 5e, the edition that I started playing Sancreed. Anyway, better start moving a little. I am a bit excited right now, my life was quite uneventful, and aside from a good job and wife, as well kids, it was easy going. And as a nerd, I¡¯m quite excited to see this world of fantasy and do some magic. But first, getting dressed. I am now only dressed in some black boxers. I walk to a full body mirror, a magic tool that was made by yours truly. What shows in the reflection is how I exactly imagined Sancreed. This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. Average height, around 1,70, well-built but not bulky, jus the right amount of muscle. A handsome face, reflecting the 20 charisma that I had, with black hair that goes down my back with purple tips, looking a bit anime, sincerely. It was a joke at the start, but eventually it turned serious as the years went on and I even forgot about it sincerely¡ that is a lie, I remember it perfectly now, but I remember that I forgot it previously. Don¡¯t judge me. Purple eyes, result of a magical experiment, capable of True Sight and Darkvision for¡ well, the reach is until where I can see, no real limitation there. And that¡¯s it, really. I touch the mirror, uttering the magical word. (Sancreed): ¡°Mirror, I wish my Staff of Fuck Off Magic, my Mega-Set, Heart of Darkness and Tear of Gods.¡± I say the name of favorite and most powerful items. The mirror glows faintly with a silvery shimmer, and a silvery mis covers my body. The feeling of clothes covers me, and the weight of the staff comes to my right hand. I grasp the wooden handle, looking at the materializing purple orb and the dragon embracing it. I look down to my clothes, a mix of butler clothes and a long coat. The ring is a black metal ring, of black vines holding a big blood-red crystal. All of them look exactly like the pinterest images that I sto- Ahem! ¡°Appropriated¡±, from its creators. Blame my Dm for letting me pick the images. Heart of Darkness is the pendant, and Tear of Gods is the ring. All of these things have several functions of which I do not wish to go over. I look at myself in the mirror, the exact image that pictured for this character. Imponent and good-looking. Against about what you would imagine, the face isn¡¯t the same as my previous life. After all, my wife was an amazing artist, and she liked drawing our characters. Wait, didn¡¯t God said that he reincarnated all my friends? Does that mean he reincarnated my wife as well? She entered mid-way through the campaign, so I wonder if she is out there. Well, I passed away first, and from the group there was only me and her left. I just hope she didn¡¯t suffer from depression after I died, we loved each other a lot after all. 60 years of marriage, and seven children. Of course, a lot of grandkids as well. Anyway, I just need to find her. Shouldn¡¯t be too hard with the equipment that I have right now. Anyway, I should see the palace¡ well, as I called it when I made, The Necropolis. Well, we called it the Ramming Castle, since it was a valid strategy that killed a lot of dragons and lesser gods, being splattered on the walls of the fortress. I approach the window, looking out to the castle below. A massive, sprawling castle, with towers and palisades, a big fuck off wall with towers where massive crystals float above them, everything with the black, red and gold theme. Beyond the wall, that I can see from here from the tallest tower of the castle, a road leading through a verdant plains, to a big town of good looking white houses, made of marble gleaming under the morning sun. To my right, a massive lake where I know that are several fish, and beside it, a big farm of several grains and fruits, growing enough food to feed a full town and castle. And finally, to my left, a massive forest that spans for a long while before the edge. All of this is sitting on an absolutely MASSIVE piece of floating land. Not only that, there¡¯s enough land underneath the surface for a full underground city. And of course, there¡¯s a Underdark terrarium inside the island, and a shadow dragon as well just for fun. Now that I think about it, there are a lot of creatures here¡ whatever, I¡¯ll let the golems that guard the castle and do the daily chores feed them or whatever, since they are ordered to that anyway. What now? I am a bit lost on what I can do¡ well, in this case, I should treat it as a session. First, assess my surroundings and get all the advantage that I can from the situation. As a first act¡ the throne room, the central command of the Necropolis. Unfortunately, I never got any undead here. That was the initial idea, but undead are too high maintenance, have little advantage aside from shock troops, and I never got along with strong undead. I make mention to walk to the door, but I stop myself. After all, I can freely teleport around the whole flying island. Since the knowledge is in my head already, it takes me a thought for the teleportation to activate. It¡¯s a bit weird, I simply disappear from where I am standing, feeling no weight as I travel through space and suddenly stand still in front of the throne. I look around, a bit startled, the massive throne room, with grey pillars, red banners where a black dragon coils around a golden orb. The massive, decorated throne with dragon motifs, with red cushioning and several red gems incrusted on it. As you might imagine, it is an artifact, specially made to control the whole island. I sit on it, looking to the full throne room. Standards with my symbol are hanging from the great pillars. A red carpet, embroidered with golden strands of actual gold. Oh, and it isn¡¯t stone that is black, it¡¯s a magical mineral called Fallen Ore, stupidly resistant and magical, that¡¯s the material of which the castle is built on. The golden decorations are also gold, enchanted gold. I give the mental command, and the throne activates. My mind is flooded with information about the fortress, but I am strangely not overwhelmed. Maybe it is those intelligence points. I choose to overlap my vision with the ¡°free camera¡± that can observe the whole island. I fly through the plains, approaching the city, seeing the empty marble houses and the blue, clear sky. Uhum, just like the DM described how it works, flying freely without much limitation. I make this vision go to the edge of the island, peering down the edge, I see a vast ocean. I see, I¡¯m above the ocean right now. I should probably stealth myself wen going above land¡ nah, fuck it. It will be fun to scare the fuck out the people in the surface. Well, maybe activate the cloud mode, making a floating castle in the clouds. That could be good. As I get ready to make the castle go forward, I¡¯m startled as something enters my vision, a piece of floating island, with a black tower upon it, slowly drifting around the island. And above the tower, a massive crystal. Oh, one of my elemental towers. There¡¯s six floating around the island, each dedicated to a different element including light and dark. The primary defense of the Necropolis. Anyway, time to fly. I set the course to east and fly full speed, around 500 km/ph, east. Onward, to new adventures! The Palace In The Sky – 2 (Sancreed¡¯s POV) It has been a few minutes since the fortress has started to move at full speed, and I have just finished checking out the rest of the island, from the forest of which is partially enchanted to be always night to house specific creatures, to the lake where in the depths lurks a captive kraken. So many memories from the campaigns¡ Anyway, I get out of the throne, severing the connection. Now, I am standing on the throne room. I should take a look around the castle, since we didn¡¯t make a detailed map, just described it loosely. Taking a right, I follow to one of the corridors, exploring the castle. It doesn¡¯t take long for me to run into one of my golems. Different from the usual golems that are massively bulky and malformed, mine are quite well made. This one, as I approach, takes a step aside and takes an attention position. I stop to look at him. Black armor with gold decorations, looking like a fully armored knight, with an evil-looking armor. Not only hat, the golem stands three and a half meters tall, holding a tower shield and a halberd. This is an adamantite golem, with a magical halberd and an adamantite tower shield. This is the best golems that I have, enchanted with flight, misty step, capable of using a few spells and the shield having anti-magic properties. There are few more types of golems around the fortress, such as iron, steel, mithril and orichalcum. But the adamantine ones are the best ones, absurdly powerful and capable of facing armies by themselves. I used them a lot in our campaigns where we had to defeat large amounts of enemies. (Sancreed): ¡°Continue the good work.¡± I say to the golem. It nods and continues to patrol the halls of the castle ever so vigilant. I continue my stroll, passing by art that was previously vaguely described, now perfectly painted and beautiful, depicting beautiful vistas and abstract art. Most of it are references about our campaigns, some dragons, eldritch horrors, yellow sheep painted as targets, etc. The decoration is high class, and the illumination is done by magical lights attached to the walls. Neat. Anyway, the first important room that I run into is the dining halls. It¡¯s big enough to house a full population of the castle, served by invisible servants with a kitchen that has food created magically, making the farm outside nothing but a surplus that I don¡¯t use at all. This can be good though, since it will be something that I¡¯ll use to sell if needed. I also find the library, filled with books from several dimensions, a alchemy room where I can brew any potion, a greenhouse to fuel the alchemy room, the entrance to the dungeon that also serves as passage to the Underdark terrarium. There is also a golem making room, the Maruk forge, clairvoyance room, ritual room, etc. After all, this is a wizard¡¯s fortress, it is geared totally towards magic. Leaving that aside, I decide to stay for now in the clairvoyance room, a place dedicated to divination magic. Following the observing theme, it is modeled after a astrological observatory, including a massive telescope. There are also other magical apparatus around, the main enchanted artifact is the central table. A massive, circular table fixed to the ground, made of silvery metal decorated with gold and jewels of several types. Rubies, emeralds, diamonds, etc. The thing is, instead of some type of surface, there is a projection, like that of a colored hologram. This is an auto-map, made with powerful divination magic. Unfortunately, I am not a specialist diviner mage. Most of my abilities are focused into enchanting items and creating stuff, although I have some powerful nuke magic. The table, or as we named it, Map of Planes, is an artifact that can store maps from any realm that the fortress has ever traveled. However, it needs to travel through the realm. I watch the miniature fortress floating in the ¡°holographic¡± map as it drags a line through the gray map. And judging by the pathetically small line that it is making, revealing¡ well, the sea. This world is quite big. And that is it, I just wanted to take a look at the map. After all, as I said before, I am no divining mage, therefore I am stuck with wandering blindly. I sigh as I watch the map, the fortress advancing dreadfully slow. Oh well, what can I d- oh. I see some land being revealed in the map. The thing is, this map has a range of around ten thousand kilometers in a radius. And a smidge of land just showed in the detection range of the fortress. I immediately teleport to the throne room and excitedly sit on the throne. Instead of connecting to the throne, I just wave my hand with a mental command, several magic circles appearing in the air, many of them projecting floating, semi-transparent screens depicting several angles of the island. The reason for that are the spotter golems spread all around. It is a decent substitute to the connection with the fortress but seeing by myself without limits is much better. This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience. A few magical circles also pop up right in front of me, as if they were dials and controls, which they are. Dials and controls for the defenses that I can use instead of controlling it with my mind. Both ways are viable and have their perks. Anyway, I find the screen that shows the direction of the land and watch eagerly. This will take a few hours, actually¡ I didn¡¯t think this through. Umm, for someone with high intelligence I seem awfully forgetful¡ (Sancreed): ¡°Servant.¡± I try, something that often worked in the campaigns. And the, approaching from the side of the room, comes an invisible servant¡ well, not invisible to me, since I can see through that kind of stuff easily. To me, he¡ rather, she, looks like a female butler ghost, semi-transparent. (Sancreed): ¡°Being me some cola, fried shrimp and¡ sushi, the full course meal.¡± After all, I¡¯m kinda hungry. My DM, Joe, said that the servants could cook anything that I wanted, and since Sancreed didn¡¯t know what sushi or cola was, they didn¡¯t make any. I¡¯m taking the opportunity to test the limits of my kitchen. The phantom female butler bows, as if understanding everything perfectly, going away right after. I just sit there for a while before remembering, as a meme, Joe said that the fortress is the most perfect handy tool ever, capable of streaming directly from the internet, and confirmed it as complete canon. I always took it as a joke, and since my character didn¡¯t know about the internet, he didn¡¯t use it. I try to probe the fortress mentally, and yes, it indeed has connection to the internet. God, you did an amazing job. Setting up interdimensional wi-fi shouldn¡¯t be easy at all. Well, whatever, I won¡¯t think about it. if it works, it works. Oh, and I have free Netflix. Hadn¡¯t heard of that in a while¡ they came back to business after going bankrupt, just someone appropriating the name and service. Anyway, I turn on a classic, the Lord of The Rings trilogy, the original one, not the remake of 2045, that one was shit. I grew up watching the originals, therefore I always come back to the extended cuts. I have¡ many, MANY hours ahead of me. (Sancreed): ¡°Throne of Ages, I command, change our shape for my comfort.¡± I say the incantation, the throne morphing under me to a bed-chair hybrid. It is incredibly comfortable, actually. And as the theme starts to play, a floating platter, covered with Japanese restaurant platters, as well some fried shrimp and a massive glass mug full of cola drifts to my lap, staying suspended there. It even has a pair of hashi. The platter has everything, rice, some yakisoba and other delicacies. Including a ton of sashimi of salmon and white fish, exactly the way I like it. it even has some boiled octopus and soy sauce. I nod to the butler, who bows and leaves. Well, I guess they do know about cola and sushi. I take a sip, the familiar taste of cola, more carbonated than usual, fills my mouth. There should be what, two liters inside this? I take a bite of the sushi. Yep, delicious. I¡¯ve always been a fan of Japanese cuisine. I could before, but the memory of the first time my father took me to a Japanese restaurant for the first time was nice. We didn¡¯t have much money when I was younger, so that was a big thing at the time. I look around, to the marvelous palace around me. Kind of daunting, now that I think about it. I lived comfortably, but far from luxury. Forget it, no use thinking about it now. I¡¯ll just watch the film. (Somewhere, within the forests of Aulia, Yulitheria¡¯s POV) I wake up as the rays of the sun touch my eyes, taking me out of the realm of dreams. I try to sleep again, but the chill wind of the morning from the fading winter keeps me from sleeping again. I sigh as I open my eyes, sitting on the bed, the thin white silk sheet falling to my lap, my thin clothes barely covering my body. I look around, to the familiar room. The white walls decorated with my people¡¯s architecture, arcs and curves on white stone and marble. The window outside revealing the trees recovering from winter as the wind gently sweeps through the valley. I close my eyes, the fragments of (Maid): ¡°Mistress?¡± I hear calling from outside my room. (Yulitheria): ¡°Yes, I am awake.¡± I say, taking a second to recognize the voice. ¡°You can come in, Alasania.¡± My doors creaks open as the royal servant comes in, an old friend, Alasania, whom which I have grown together. (Alasania): ¡°Good morning Mistress.¡± She smiles to me. I smile back. (Yulitheria): ¡°Good morning, Alasania.¡± I look outside the window, the morning sun not being as pleasant as before. ¡°I had a dream.¡± I declare. Alasania stops on the spot on her way to me, widening her eyes, her ears that poke through her blonde-silvery hair perking up. (Alasania): ¡°A gift from the gods?¡± I nod. (Yulitheria): ¡°It has been a century since the last one¡¡± I said, looking outside, to the blue, perfect sky. ¡°I dreamt of a great power, coming from the sky over the ocean. A black castle that casts his shadow over a white city.¡± I say as I get up, looking to Alasania, who stares at me with wide eyes, paying attention to every letter. (Yulitheria): ¡°I¡¯ve dreamt of great halls of grey pillars¡ the crest of a black dragon over a red field and under it, a golden throne¡ an empty throne.¡± (Alasania): ¡°What does it mean, Mistress?¡± I can only give her a heavy look. (Yulitheria): ¡°I don¡¯t know, Alasania. I can only hope, that it will be something good in these wary times.¡±
