《The Necromancer System》 Chapter 1 Chapter 1 Wei Mang was a caring and loving husband. He treated his wife Zhang Yong like his world. He would always shower her with all his love. So why, why was he stabbing her in her chest? As she winces and groans in pain, he wounds her with a knife that she specifically chose as a wedding souvenir, the same one they used to cut their wedding cake. The man that she vowed her life to, the man that she trusted and loved just stood there with a twisted expression, full of enmity. Zhang Yong simply could not understand it. The whole situation did not at all seem perceptible. With the little strength that she could muster, she whispers with a hoarse voice, "Wh.. why¡?" Wei Mang pauses his cruel actions and looks her in the eyes. "Because with you by my side, Bai Fang will never love me." The indifference on his face didn''t change. Not an ounce of sympathy for his beloved wife was visible. She gave up. She simply gave up on holding onto her life. She looked back at the man she had married. It was painful to know that for a single woman, he would go to this extent, he would go this far. She felt jealous for a single moment, but sadly, wasn''t alive the next. Not only that, but because in her very last heartbeats, she swore that he would pay for this. She swore he would have the same fate as her in her next life. The room slowly fades to black. Her head hurt, ringing continuously. It was aching with pain, and every thought only made it even more severe. After what felt like an eternity of silence, a monotone voice echoed inside of her head. [Congratulations Player000078, you have gained the system ''World Domination''. To survive and level up, you must increase your power. Think ''Yes'' to proceed] Almost too shocked to think about her actions at all, her mind immediately shouts the word after a moment of paralyzation. She wanted to know what was going on, but her desire to know more about the system was greater. World Domination? That sounds great! Greed and excitement flowed throughout her body, but she knew that she musn''t get too ahead of herself. She paused for a moment, player number 78?? That means there has to be 77 other people in alternate worlds, that had all experienced this, right? She wanted to pinch herself to check if this was a dream, but she was still falling into darkness, unable to move, so that wasn''t really an option. She felt a weird sensation all over her body. She felt her body parts shifting and shaping themselves differently, she felt her hair growing at an inhumane speed. Her eyes felt a weird sting, and her body began shrinking. She wonders, why was it acting this way, and how? It could''ve possibly been the weird system she picked up on her deathbed. This weird procedure repeated itself a myriad of times, that Xiao ZeZhou felt completely different. In fact, not like herself anymore. Wait.. Xiao ZeZhou? The victim of reincarnation began panicking. Since when was her name Xiao ZeZhou? She could''ve sworn her name was.. Wait.. what!? Why couldn''t she remember her name? As alarmed as she was, it confused her even more. She almost fainted in her already unconscious mind.If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. As she was in the midst of panicking, waves of memories hit her square in the face and almost drowned her. One after another, she felt different memories and scenarios crawl deeper into her brain. Were these.. Xiao ZeZhou''s memories? She can recall a coworker of hers talking about something like this, a fragment of her past life flashes through her eyes as she remembers her exact words, "Hey Yong jiejie! Did you read that novel I sent you yesterday? I didn''t want to spoil it for you, but a girl dies and turns into the villian of a novel she once read! That kind of genre is quite popular these days. Please say you''ll read it!" She never actually had the patience to read it, but she already had a basic understanding of what the novel was about due to her coworker''s constant nagging, advising her to read it and all. Could the same have happened to her? She pondered. But that''s not possible, she hates any kind of fiction. She remembered a book she once read about the nature of eagles. Would she turn into an eagle? Or perhaps a crow? Her thoughts were getting more and more absurd, to the fact that she almost cried because she thought she might turn into a tow-truck since she had watched cars 2 with her husband''s little brother. After all, the possibilities were endless. As whimsical thoughts spiraled in her mind, sometimes the useful ones here and there were the only escape and only way to spend her time in this abyss of darkness. It was quite boring actually, and her longing to wake up and be able to see light again grewstronger every single second she stood awake. Her eyelids weakly open as they adjust to thefaint light coming from her window. It was morning. Possibly very early, because there wasn''t much sound coming from anywherearound her. Her eyes perked up and widenedwhen she realised something. The darkness!Tears of happiness were begging to be let out. She had survived! But her eyes nearly dropped back down when she thought, maybe she had survived? Maybe her husband didn''t kill her? Maybe she was in a state of shock, and when she thought she had died, she had actually fainted? But even with all that, having a system wasn''t bad at all. She felt weird. Deep down, she would rather have reincarnated as a tow-truck. Then, she heard a voice- no, two voices, thatanswered the questions she was asking herself earlier. An unfamiliar one. "Xiao ZeZhou! You''re awake! Finally! Your father was so worried!" A tearful and worried voice could be heard. And one that she can recall. [Congratulations Player000078, you are the first player to unlock the skill ''Dark Void''. You are now part of the ''Dark Clan''. To become level 1, you must talk to 5 of the sameclan. Think ''Yes'' to proceed.] Author''s Note: I got an editor! My writing won''t have like 78868 spelling mistakes and it won''t sound childish. Yeeeee. Thank you Mira :)) . Also I''m getting the cover commissionrn. Expect a chapter a day! Chapter 2 Chapter 2 Two sorrowful emerald green eyes stare down at her as she attempts to comprehend what had happened. First of all, darkness attributed power? Wasn''t that, according to every story ever, something a villain would have? And wasn''t her goal world domination? It took her a while to realise that she had a choice in the matter. She was able to say no, right? Is declining an option? [Unknown command, Player000078. you are given a time limit for each level up, this one is 2 months. If you exceed the time limit during a task, it will be game over, and you shall be eliminated.] She spat a bit of blood as she heard that. Why me, she thought. This moment takes her back to the reason this all started. The thought of Wei Mang comes to mind. She gritted her teeth. Him. The best way to avenge herself would be to live and get her revenge on him. But after thinking about it for a moment, living through so much loneliness, she felt nothing towards her past lover. Of course, she had not forgiven him, but her hatred towards him decreased. It could''ve been because she had a soft spot for him, but that had hardened long ago. She sighs and gives herself up to this simulation. Out of energy, she mutters a low yes under her breath with a small nod, and accepts the task. She was so focused on the whole situation that she completely forgot about the other voice, spoken in tow with the robotic one. Then she felt a hand slightly press on her shoulder. She jumped, her heart racing and beating out of her body. When she looked over her shoulder to see who it was, she was confused. What was a middle-aged man doing here? She once again remembered receiving Xiao ZeZhou''s memories. They were like a book. You could open and close them at your will. They had already been imprinted in her brain, but nothing had felt unfamiliar, despite her size and appearance. To be honest, she didn''t even start it, but this man looked familiar to her, giving off a warm kind of aura. She wondered if he had anything to do with her. Racking her brain for a single memory of his existence, a light bulb suddenly shot up inside her head. This was her father, Xiao Guozhi. He was her only parent since her mother, Qi Huang, had passed away when she had only been about three years old. He had tried his best to give his only daughter the best life and raise her well, but the gods simply didn''t favor them and they were cursed to live like this for eternity. In addition to the already terrible situation, she was very stupid, very naive and often caused a lot of trouble, even claiming the golden nickname of a retard. What a troublesome life she led. She thought about it, and there was probably nothing getting in the way of killing herself, but with the system watching her, it probably wouldn''t let go of her that easily. An image of her father appeared, he appeared to be young and bright, right before her mother had died. If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. She looked back at him. Compare him to the picture, he looked like he had aged by 30 years. She felt his calloused hand still on her shoulder. Staring at the man awkwardly, she decided she would adopt the role of his probably already deceased daughter. She wasn''t too fond of this whole reincarnation idea, but she would try her best. ''Damn it, fine, I''ll wait 2 months. Curse this whole system.''- she thought and finally replied to the worried parent patiently waiting for an answer. "You don''t have to worry father, I''m fine."-she smiled sweetly while grabbing his veiny, aging hand and hugging him. If her job was to be a good daughter, then a good daughter she will be. After taking care of that, she finally took the time to inspect her surroundings, glancing around the room. It was fairly similar to a hospital, every corner of the room was a creamy tint of white, shadows collected at the opposite end of the room. She slowly lifted herself up and made her way to the window with the help of her father. She really wanted to breathe in the cold air and feel the soft breeze of early Autumn. Well, she didn''t know whether it was Autumn or not, it was just that it was that season in her past life. It didn''t matter which season it was, she just wanted to get some air. As she glances out the window, her eyes bulge and her jaw drops as soon as she witnesses what laid on the other side of the house. There were witches flying on their brooms outside. What was this, Harry Potter? She looked down, expecting to see something similar to Diagon Alley, but instead saw hundreds of different species lurking around in the streets. There were elves, dwarfs, and an orc that could walk and talk. She stood frozen on the spot, the wind lightly kissing her cheeks and touching her skin. She couldn''t believe it. She hadn''t reincarnated into a book or movie.. she was reborn into a whole new world! One she had no knowledge of except for a stranger''s memories. The thought of being somewhere that didn''t feel like home terrified her. After all, it was human instinct. She was the type of person that believed in logic, facts, science, and nothing else. So, of course, it was hard for such a human to adapt to a world with mythical creatures that shouldn''t be able to exist. She slowly took in a deep breath and heaved a sigh. Lifting up her arm, she pinched her snow-like skin. Chapter 3 Chapter 3 Xiao ZeZhou slowly awoke from her slumber. She lifts herself up and sits up on her bed with her eyes half-closed, and still a bit of drool hanging off of her mouth. She drags her arm over to the right side of her bed, slams her hand on the table and uses her wrist to crawl around in search for her glasses. After her 10-second hunt, she slides out of her bed reluctantly and makes her way to where she thought the bathroom was, but instead was just a wall that she ends up bumping into. She yawns and rubs her eyes with her wrist and finally opens them. She winced and took a step back when she noticed she was in the hospital room. She still couldn''t habituate this place at all. The next day would finally be the day of her discharge, having been there for five days already. She didn''t quite understand, they had magic, right? Why couldn''t they just heal her straight away and be done with it? That''s how it works, right? What would be the use of keeping her in there? She still didn''t know why she was in the hospital in the first place. Sighing, she made her bed. She was humming a famous song in which she couldn''t quite remember the name, eventually sitting down on the bed when she was done. The door creaked open by a little bit, a voice following after it: "ZeZhou? Are you ready?" Xiao ZeZhou stands up and walks towards the door. She opens it, revealing her father hesitantly standing there. "What''s wrong, father? You seem.. worried." He lifted his face up, shaking his head. "Nothing, my dear. Let us head outside, the healing bank has let us have some fresh air." Healing bank? This place really has some weird names, huh. But now that she was aware, their language was different, right? She listened carefully to what the people around her said. Whatever, she thought, not paying too much attention to that matter. At least she could understand the language. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. She follows her father outside, barefoot, her purple hair still draped down, carrying a cheap notebook. She had been recording all the species she had witnessed and taking note of their actions and behaviors. There barely was a difference compared to humans, but she still felt weird around them, as if they were giving off an odd aura. Her eyes twitch when she sees their skin move unnaturally- she was never a fan of animals, even in the past. Noticing that her father was engrossed in watching a stall with a bunch of horses for sale, she walked over to a pub and ordered beer to pass the time. It won''t be the same as the canned ones back in China, but she hoped that they would be somewhat similar. As she went to find somewhere to sit down, a cloaked figure accidently bumped into her. As she was about to apologize and walk away, the man took his hands out of his barely visible pockets and hastily said sorry and bowed repeatedly. She frowned and nodded, her eyebrows furrowed. When the man took out his hands, there were black marks all over them as if something had stained them, and scales were scattered all over his arms. She had seen multiple hooded people up from her hospital window, but she never actually paid any attention to them. Maybe they were a different species or race she didn''t know about? Well, whatever it is, she was desperate to know more about it. She scrambled, trying to find a free table, she took her notebook out and started writing about her new discovery with raw graphite. She had finally finished reading all of her memories and apparently they were poor. Well it was pretty understandable, they were all faint anyway. She would just wait until she became a powerful woman, then she would become rich enough to buy an actual pen! Was what she had devised in her mind. But then she took it back. Hadn''t she planned on being eliminated in 2 months? She stroked her chin thoughtfully. Maybe it won''t be so bad to follow what Miss robot says. But then again, if she went back to her own world instead of dying, won''t it be awkward? It would be embarrassing and creepy to know that her so-called husband had attempted to kill her. Besides, she had nothing to return to. After all, she was a loner, and nearly all the people who came to her wedding were people from her husband''s side. The only person who came to see her was that same coworker who pestered her so many times. She didn''t know which to choose. She shakes her head and calmed down. After gulping down her beer, she quickly ran over to where her father was. He must be worried, she thought. At first, he wasn''t at the horse stalls. After looking around for a couple of minutes she found him walking around, aimlessly. She called out to him, and he hurriedly made his way towards her. With a serious expression, he sternly said: "Xiao ZeZhou I thought I told you t-" BANG The aftermath of an explosion was ringing in everyone''s ears. After that several more came. BANG BANG BANG Everyone covered their ears, the ones sensitive to sound fainted, leaving everyone worried and in a state of shock. Xiao ZeZhou frowned and looked towards the direction that the sound had come from. Several homes were fighting a losing battle against a raging fire that appeared, and some had already been burned to the ground. In the air, a large message was written, enveloped and covered in fire and heat. The crowd began separating and running in different directions, desperate to find somewhere safe. Some were seeking shelter in their homes, others were sending reinforcements, it was absolute chaos. She had only just noticed the message, and it read: "We strike at dawn" What seemed even more odd was the fact that it was.. comforting. It looked and felt like home. Xiao thought that she was mad since she wanted to embrace fire and burn herself to death, but even so, it looked beautiful. Staring above at the sky with her ears ignoring her father''s voice and with the craziness that was h appening, she subconsciously let out a smile. Chapter 4 Chapter 4 Xiao ZeZhou crawls hastily into the wardrobe with her half dead father, crouching, trying her best to lower the volume of her heavy breathing. Her heart was beating faster and faster as time went by, she had never expected things to go THIS far. Looking through the small and narrow gap in the wardrobe, she stayed cautious of any sound that wasn''t her wheezing self. It was a super unpredictable day. Aside from that weird message, she didn''t know that things would escalate to this point, let alone know that anything bad would happen. A few hours later, in the middle of the night, she was awoken by the sounds of blood hurling screams. That was when she had noticed her father lying down on the ground, unconscious. She quickly glanced outside the window, only to see multiple lifeless bodies covered in blood just lying on the pavement. She was no paramedic, but the best she could do was hope that her father would be able to hold up for long. Even if she knew a couple of medical procedures, she wouldn''t want to risk it. Shaking in terror, she held back her tears. Ever since a young age, she loathed crying, but it didn''t mean she didn''t want to. After all, nothing bad had happened to her. But that was the strangest thing of them. Why was she the only one left without an injury? She was worried. How much time did she have? Could she have run away when there wasn''t anything or anyone there yet? It''s important to remember that she still was not aware of what the hell was attacking everyone and causing all this commotion and chaos. As she was in thought, an object suddenly slammed against the wardrobe''s door. Her heart nearly stops as she glances towards the source of the sound. With another thud, the wardrobe toppled over and she screamed, she couldn''t help it. There was no way she could help it, she was scared for her life. A coat falls on top of her and she looks towards her father helplessly. Peeking through a gap in the wardrobe, she tried calming herself down and getting her heart rate back to normal but she still felt the urge to scream even more. A red eye abruptly appears in the gap, it''s pink strained veins visible, staring directly back at her. She covered her mouth and closed her eyes. Her heart was thudding again and again in her chest and she couldn''t pay attention to anything. The sound of the door being torn apart escaped into her ears. She crumbled up into a ball, protecting her father and cried as the wardrobe that she used as shelter was destroyed. Who cared if she cried anyway, she could scream until her voice was hoarse and nobody would help. [Congratulations Player000078, you have advanced to Level 2. You are now permitted to use your power. To advance to Level 3,you must have a minimum of 3 followers. You have a time limit of 5 months. You currently have [0/3] followers. Think yes to proceed] As she opened up her hereditary emerald eyes a glimmer of hope shone in them, but it didn''t last for long because she realised she didn''t even know how to use her power. She thought that it was unusual that she advanced to Level 2 since she only left the hospital once, and if she couldn''t have met anyone of the Dark Clan, wouldn''t she know? When she had watched Harry Potter in the past, they had recited spells. The problem was, she knew none of them. At this point she was at death''s doorstep when a half transparent beast appeared beside her, seeming like a strange mutant, since it was glowing in a greenish colour. In a state of shock, she didn''t notice a huge claw heading directly towards her chest. For the first time, she saw the monstrous being in its full form. It had dark blue fur covering every part of its body, and it''s body shape was the same as a wolf but approximately twice the size. In addition, it had horns the size of his face facing forward, like a wolf bull hybrid. She was knocked down, unable to escape since her legs had gone numb. That''s it, I''m going to die, she thought. What she hadn''t expected was for a glowing beast next to her about the same size as a baby horse to leap into its face. The being knocked it down with the swipe of his paw and it fell down pathetically, only to stand up again and charge back into its target. Was this beast mine? She thought, since there was nobody else willing to help her. She didn''t want to think too much and took the opportunity to escape. Her anxiety rose as she pulled her father onto her back, crept out of the wreckage of a wardrobe and crawled over to the door, too scared as too even breathe. She winced beyond hearing the sounds of the beast falling onto the floor several times. Even if it belonged to her, there was no way she could really have beaten a monster like that. Love this story? Find the genuine version on the author''s preferred platform and support their work! When she had reached a location far enough, waves of relief hit her and seemed like medicine to her dying brain. It surprised her that she could even make it out alive. The best option there was, was to get out of this corrupt city that was more likely completely populated by weird beasts at this point. But it would take several days, and carrying a middle-aged man wouldn''t increase her chance of survival or success. She needed food and a place to sleep, and her father didn''t seem like he had much time left. The streets weren''t safe at all. If she left her father anywhere, she was sure he''d get eaten alive by some beats by the time she comes back with food and water. In the end, in her panicked state, she decided to carry him with her. After all, she didn''t have enough courage to go by herself, all alone. Too many things had happened in a short span of time, causing her to think improperly. She was still barefoot, and the stone pierced her skin every step she took along the way in search for anywhere that could''ve had food. She had also bound up Xiao Guozhi''s wound with his own cloth. Everything that was happening confused her. There were clear bite marks on his side, but why were the teeth taken out and why didn''t he finish the job and take a bite? She had so many questions forming in her mind. It all just seemed like a nightmare, but the moment she felt the monster''s breath against her face and felt it''s claw almost tear her apart, she was aware that was a very clear and big hint saying it was not at all a dream. Finally noticing some type of marketplace, she dropped Guozhi carefully onto the ground and limped her way there. She had injured her leg when she first tried to carry her father but couldn''t even consider resting, it wasn''t a choice. Even if the stalls were destroyed, even if the food was lying on the ground, she hurriedly emptied a basket of apples and threw them onto the grass, filling it up with cheese, bread, and some fruits. She limped her way back and put her father into a cart on top of a sack of potatoes as a sort of pillow for comfort. She was about to carry the cart away, before realizing there was a flaw to her plan. She didn''t know where another city was. There could have been a map somewhere here, but she had no idea where she was, and she wouldn''t even know where to start searching. She then looked at the basket of food. She decided it could last her the time, and began to run all over the place in the search for a map. 2 hours later She returned, wheezing and huffing heavily, with cuts and bruises all over her arms and legs. In her hand was a rolled up map which she had ripped off a board somewhere. She had acquainted with 2 of the same beasts, but luckily, only one of them has seen her. It chased after her, all the way to a cave where she had taken refuge. That was where the wounds had come from, from the rocks and stones in the cave. Seeing that Xiao Guozhi was still safe, she studied the map for a couple of minutes and then came to an agreement with herself on a direction to head to. When she came back, she filled another basketful of food and covered them with a cloth just in case the trip would take longer than she expected. She was also reminded to bring some water with her when she came back, sweating. It basically would''ve been an act of suicide to walk into the middle of nowhere and not have anything to drink, and she was not at all willing to drink her own urine. She started her trek, and kept on walking. And walking. And walking. She continuously checked on her father''s wound and noticed that it started rotting. The seemingly endless walk carried on and on for what she counted as 6 days. It was most likely infected at this point, but she would get him treated as soon as she could. That would be hard, of course, since she has no money. A water shortage would most likely be estimated in a few days, so she picked up her pace. On the 8th day, she finally arrived at her destination. Her water and food finished that morning and her father had just gotten a fever, she could''ve died along with him. When she arrived, it wasn''t anything like the city she appeared in. The road was wonky in all directions and the house were all tiny, most of them joined together. When she walked through them, they eyed her with intense enmity and hatred. She had seen those same eyes with her ex-husband. Goosebumps started to firm on her arms and neck. She shrugged it off, and found a vacant home to occupy and stay in for a while. It was nearly 2 kilometers away from where she had come from. This place was overly populated, so it was a miracle she found it in the first place. Where could she find a medic? She recalls hearing another term for it as ''healer'' but that was only in the games she''s seen. The town looked incredibly poor though, there was a low chance she''d find one here. She laid her father down onto the floor and leaned her back against a wall. She glanced at her hands. They were dry and hard, covered in dirt and debris. Sighing, she huddled into the empty potato sack and slept, forgetting completely about both eating and drinking. She hadn''t slept comfortably ever since the night it all started, she had been having nightmares most of the time, and now that a majority of her worries are no more, she feels free. She knew that her father was about to die, but sleep was embracing her, persuading her and comforting her. It felt so peaceful, she could barely resist. "Hey! Wake up! What are you doing here?" Xiao ZeZhou frowned as she heard someone shouting at her. Opening up her heavy eyelids, she notices the blurred figure of a boy in front of her. She rubbed her eyes, and her eyesight focused on what seemed to be a 15 year old boy. Why was this little kid acting so righteous? He should know how to show some respect. And then realization hits her- she had possessed the body of a 13 year old. "What are you doing in this house?" repeated the boy, scowling. "Am I not allowed to be in here?" she answered. The boy, rolling his eyes as if the answer was clear, replied, "Of course it''s not allowed! The respected and famous Gu N-" A hand clasped his mouth. It was a 40 year old man''s hand. He looked down at the child and said, "Hey, don''t say so much, she''s a stranger, don''t blabber all the time. '' "But I-" The boy was interrupted once again to an elderly woman this time. "What is your business here? This house is occupied. And what was your reason for visiting this place? I don''t suppose it''s for a holiday?" Although she was better at hiding it than the others, ZeZhou could still see the contempt and sarcasm on her wrinkled face. "There was an invasion. The entire city got burnt down. My father has also almost lost his life, so I could only come here." She replied truthfully, but she didn''t risk saying what kind of invasion it was. She felt stupid being oblivious and unable to recognize something almost everyone knew. "But why come here? You do know it''s the slums, right?"
