The plan he had thought out was perfect if not flawless except for one simple thing. The server lag that had always plagued and will continue to plague the gaming community in the years to come. The pieces slowly came together as he checked his map at Silo 5 and behind him was a covert counter force consisting of himself and his selected gacha units he painfully invested in. Behind his gacha unites were ten Battle walkers and five Main battle tanks ready to charge in on his go order. He was about to raise his right hand to give the order when a huge lag suddenly hit the lobby causing everyone¡¯s avatar to jump all over the place. All other models including his gacha units remained frozen as a failsafe while the game server refreshes the connections from each individual player. A countdown timer appeared indication the estimated time the refresh would end, he thought it was a good idea to rest his eyes since he had been playing Battlefield 2142: Redux for almost a whole day. Not even a few minutes had passed, and a system message appeared briefly as the counter faded out. [Warning! Detecting high voltage. Attempting to Disconnect. Disconnect Failed. Error. Connection to host Terminated. Error. Unable to detect host vitals. Chapter 1: Cheri and Kai. Kai heard someone calling his name. It was unintelligible at first however as he slowly regained his consciousness, he could slowly hear the other party. ¡°GOD DAMMIT KAI! How long are you gonna play possum!?¡± A hard hand slapped his left cheek causing Kai to reflectively look at the direction of where it came from. When he looked at who hit him, Kai let out a sigh. ¡°You know, you could¡¯ve like gave me a pinch in the cheek instead. But you settled for a slap didn¡¯t cha? Cheri?¡± Cheri who had been Kai¡¯s gaming buddy for five years looked at him with a displeased expression and scoffed. ¡°Well if it makes you feel better, I was going to shoot you in the knee next.¡± As Cheri retorted, she placed both her hands on her hips and leaned forward looking down at Kai. ¡°So, are you gonna get up? Or are you gonna be carried out by those knights over there?¡± Cheri pointed behind her as there were three knights making their approaching. ¡°I don¡¯t know what the hell happened when that lag hit but the next thing I know, we were in some crazed dimensional space along with a few other folks. I think there were about ten of us there and some lady in Greek attire came outta nowhere started talking about us being dead and a hero ritual or something.¡± Cheri waved to the first knight that arrived next to her. ¡°Alright man. You hold his left arm and I¡¯ll take his right. On three we life him up aight?¡± The knight gave Cheri a nod and just as she began the count, she tightened her grip on Kai¡¯s right armpit. ¡°One, two and Three! HUP!¡± On three, Cheri and the Knight lifted Kai up from the floor. ¡°Ow. I think I pulled a muscle.¡± Kai let out a quick pain of agony noise out from his mouth. ¡°Oh yea... ow¡­ my right arm.¡± ¡°I could request a healer to aide you if you needed.¡±If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. The knight inspected Kai and asked him if he needed a healer. ¡°Nah I¡¯m ok. It¡¯ll heal in no time so don¡¯t worry about it.¡± Kai politely turned down the knights offer and faced Cheri. The first thing that struck Kai was that Cheri is still in her gaming avatar. Cheri¡¯s avatar consisted of a sci-fi high-tech digital camo combat helmet with a built-in vid-cam on the left side that allows players in the same squad to see what they are seeing through a screen share mechanic that is passively on. To match the helmet, she has on a grey flak vest which covered her entire upper torso and a grey leg armor that entirely cover the front part of her legs. An Assault backpack is worn on her back which contains her gadgets and other important equipment¡¯s for her Assault class. On her waist there were four ammunitions pouches held together by a belt that came with the vest and her footwear consist of a grey all terrain combat boot. To finish the badassery look, Cheri have on a combat goggle which enhances the player Heads up Display capabilities. All her features are well hidden behind all that gear which makes it hard for people to see what she really looks like without them. Kai sighed as he long knew that Cheri never have a thing for cute cosmetics. Nothing can change her mind. He decided to quickly inspected himself and as it turns out, he too is in his gaming avatar. The only difference aside from being similar to Cheri¡¯s, is that his helmet has a prebuilt visor and his backpack is the Engineer backpack which holds gadgets and equipment exclusively for his Support class. At first glance no one can tell Kai¡¯s feature since it is heavily covered by the combat helmet. As both Cheri and Kai looked at each other and gave a thumbs up, the knight that was still holding his left arm politely interrupted their silent communication. ¡°Excuse me heroes. It would be bad manners to keep the royal family and the other heroes wait any longer. Please follow me.¡± The knight waved with his free hand to the two knights that was standing next to the door and the opened it as the trio arrived. A couple hallways later, the knight along with Cheri and Kai made it to the chambers that the dinner is held. The door opened and everyone that was on the other side stopped their activity and stared at the newcomers that had just arrived. Cheri and Kai let out a wry chuckle knowing that they were beyond late, and the important matter were already discussed. A short girl wearing a dark gothic Lolita outfit who was talking to one of the royal family¡¯s children shot a quick glance at the newcomers and when she saw the person being assisted, she knew he was probably injured. She politely excused herself and made her way towards Kai. Kai on the other hand was sweating balls as he noticed a loli approaching him, however it was the giant scythe weapon behind her that caused him to sweat profusely. Cheri placed her hand on her leg holster in preparation to draw her P33 Pereira revolver. Both Cheri and Kai expected the goth girl to draw her scythe, instead she chanted something which later a dark particle of sort entered Kai¡¯s body. Kai noticing the pain fading away realized the goth girl casted a healing spell on him. Before she departed, the goth girl leaned close to his ear and whispered. ¡°That¡¯s some sweet looking high-tech gear. I would love to hear the tales if you are comfortable talking about it.¡± The goth girl gave Kai a wink and went back towards the royal children. Cheri pouted as her face grew red and she delivered a rock-hard fist punch at Kai¡¯s hip. ¡°WHAT WAS THAT FOR!?¡± Cheri in return gave Kai a silent treatment while turning her head facing the other way. Chapter 2: Back to Basic Tutorial in Another World(Part I) The next day after the party, Kai and Cheri found themselves in a Training Ground along with the other heroes. Currently they are observing the knights sparing against each other while the captain of the knights is teaching the heroes how to fight using swords. Some of the heroes were not faring well as they had never held a weapon before in their life. A few tripped and a couple got some cuts here and there. Cheri looked and Kai and whispered to him. ¡°Typical clich¨¦. Am I right Kai?¡± Kai while observing the hero group shrugged his shoulder and replied back to Cheri in a volume where only both of them could hear. ¡°Eh. With a few more days of practicing they can swing that sword with ease but¡­ I wonder when that captain will take them out for combat. Cheri clicked her tongue and tilted her head to the left. ¡°Same goes for us. As soon as we figure out what changed had occurred to us. That goddess looked at me and you both. She did not give us a cheat ability however she left us with a confusing statement. ¡®You two, your ¡®souls¡¯¡­ Those body. Hm... It should be fine. That will be your abilities. Good Luck.¡¯¡± Cheri continued clicking her tongue. Kai knew that she is irritated when she is not given a clear answer. Cheri stood up and motioned the knights to follow her. ¡°Good. Now follow me and place the dummies here, here and there.¡± When she reached a vacant part of the Training Ground, she started pointing her fingers at places to plant the dummies. ¡°And Mr. knights. Make sure to suit up the dummies with the armor and helmet.¡± Cheri waved to Kai to come over. As Kai was making his way over, the knights were done setting up. The knights made their way back to the spot where Kai was resting, Kai and the knights made a brief eye contact. Out of habit, Kai nodded his head once. That was his way of saying thanks. When Kai reached Cheri¡¯s position, he saw the formation of the dummies is close to identical to the formation that both he and Cheri went through back in the ¡®Training Compound¡¯ in Battlefield 2142:Redux. The front row is orderly lined up with 500 dummies which is consistent of how army¡¯s operate back in the Medieval era. Behind the formation was an encirclement dummies group and to the right and left were dummies reinforcement. At the back of the encirclement was scattered dummies indicating a broken and scattered formation. ¡°Whoa. She literally thought out close to everything.¡± Kai leaked out his thought which Cheri heard. She gave Kai a playful slap at the back of his head. ¡°I¡¯m a historian major. What did you expect!?¡± Cheri laughed while Kai is still dumbstruck at the near perfect scenario formation. Chapter 2: Back to Basic Tutorial in Another World(Part II) Kai and Cheri¡¯s training went underway, Kai started off at the group of 500 dummies to get a feel of his body and gun. Since he played as a ¡®Support¡¯, he deployed an ¡®Ammo Hub¡¯ on the ground. Aiming down his Bianchi FA-6 Light Machine Gun, he proceeded to fire off a few shots in controlled burst while standing and did the same while crouched. His combat visor relayed a hit indicator back to him since the rounds have a build in sensor that feeds the user combat data on field combatants. Kai loved the Bianchi FA-6 LMG since it is effective at providing suppressive fire with its 900 RPM. Let alone having 150 rounds in a magazine, the Bianchi FA-6 is more accurate the longer it is fired proving it be a lethal mid-range weapon. Kai decided to finish up the target practice by unloading his LMG while laying prone. He paused briefly to eject the drum magazine and reached for the belt feeder from his ''Ammo Hub'' and connected it to his LMG. Kai released the bipod and planted his entire body along with his LMG prone to the ground. Aiming down the scope he was able to see the reticle and the distance between him and his targets. He lets out a sigh as he scanned the data displayed in his visor. ¡°This is utterly unfair. To be able to read real time visual data on the damn mini map¡­¡± His Heads up Display in his visor not only displayed the scope reticle but also his weapons magazine count and ammo reserves in the bottom right of the screen just above his health and armor bar.Enjoying the story? It also means the life and death since the visor is equipped with real time map data that outlines the movement of enemy troops within a large radius. The mini map is located on the top right of the HUD. Currently his mini map, for some reason displayed everyone¡¯s position in the castle¡¯s training ground. Kai shook his head and pulled the trigger. It took no less than 5 seconds to obliterate a nicely lined up 500 dummies solider with the assistance of the belt feeder function from his ''Ammo Hub''. Kai got up to holstered his weapon and to his amazement, his Bianchi FA-6 Light Machine Gun disappeared and reappeared on his back. ¡°Ah. The magic at work logic.¡± Kai muttered to himself as he made his way to Cheri¡¯s carnage. Cheri is currently in her ¡®Murder¡¯ mode by brutally decapitating the encirclement dummies with her Baur H-AR, P33 Pereira and Dogtagger Dagger. Kai noticed Cheri had her Dogtagger Dagger out and he guessed that she ran out of ammo. Now its close quarters except the fact Cheri is a pro at knife combat and she always aim for the head and neck for sure kills. Kai noticed a crowd off to the side watching the carnage and judging by the method¡¯s Cheri had carried out, she gathered quite a crowd since most of the knights, heroes and nobility watched her merciless took off the helmet. Cheri, who noticed a squad colored green dot coming to her location on her mini map shouted out "Kai! I''m dry! Need Resupplies!" Cheri yelled as she gave Kai a hand gesture indicating that she is down to her melee weapon. Chapter 2: Back to Basic Tutorial in Another World(Part III) Rewinding back while Kai was preparing to practice shooting the formation dummies, Cheri strode through the encirclement dummies and stood in the center. She drew her Baur Heavy-Assault Rifle, an upgraded variant of the SCAR 11. Cheri preferred this weapon since it is built to fire high-caliber, tungsten-core ammunition for maximum damage potential. The Baur H-AR has an rpm of 600 and can fire out 20 rounds. Since it has a small magazine capacity, it can be reloaded in three seconds top. It took Cheri years of experience to master using the weapon effectively since after the first shot accuracy, the recoil kicks back hard if fired in fully automatic mode. The trick she learned is to fire in semi-automatic mode which increases her chance of landing more than one sure shot accuracy. She positioned herself in her ¡®shoot and scoot¡¯ mode which involved distancing her feet a few inches apart while slightly bending her knee. She aimed her assault rifle to the dummy in front of her and took a couple slow breaths. ¡°Focus, trace the target, shoot and scoot. Phew.¡± Cheri whispered to herself before she zeroed in on her first headshot. She moved swiftly to the next couple of dummies in a clockwise manner, landing a few head and neck shots. After Cheri had gone through twenty dummies, she realized that her primary is dry and quickly threw her assault rifle at the head of the twenty-first dummy. With lightning fast reflexes, she drew out her P33 Pereira revolver which was loaded with 10 magnum rounds and started shooting the chest and shoulder of the dummies. Once she ran out bullets on her thirty-first dummy in the encirclement formation, she again threw her revolver at the next dummy. Cheri knew her next engagement will be in close quarters as she drew her Dogtagger Dagger which was sheathed on the side of her left shoulder. She grinned as she lunged at the thirty-third dummy in the encirclement and immediately decapitated its head. She didn¡¯t stop there, she proceeded to chop up the next couple of dummies¡¯ shoulders and ripped apart the knights¡¯ armors. Her crazed look sent chills down to a few heroes that paused to look at the ruckus she was causing. Cheri was too engulfed in decapitating the dummies that she failed to notice that she gathered quite a crowd from the knights and nobles. And you threw your weapons again didn¡¯t you?¡± Kai looked at the dummies impaled in the head and chest with Cheri¡¯s assault rifle and revolver. ¡°With great throwing force at that.¡± Kai facepalmed and shook his head sideways. ¡°It is safe to assume that both of us are already familiar with how our movements and combat works?¡± Cheri nodded her head in response to Kai. ¡°Everything else still functions just like how we are used to back in playing Battlefield 2142:Redux.¡± Cheri added while going through the other menu options in her Heads-up display. ¡°It¡¯s going to be tough figuring out how ¡®Tdoll Contracts¡¯ and gacha currency will be dropped.¡± Both Cheri and Kai are veterans at the game since they both knew killing enemy players and androids will drop construction contracts that can be picked up. Killing marked players will guarantee ¡®Ice Diamonds¡¯ which is the currency for the gacha part of the game. The difference is that the ¡®Tdoll contracts¡¯ contracts train you androids between the one to five-star pool and is replicable at low cost. While ¡®Ice Diamonds¡¯ contracts mercenaries from different sectors of the galaxies. Now that both of them are in another world, the rules might have changed for them. Kai and Cheri both sighed at the same time since they both know that they are stuck here with no way to get back home. Cheri motioned to the knights that they were done training. As the knights began to take down the dummies, Kai leaned close to Cheri¡¯s ear and whispered. ¡°Since we are both here, why not we go on an adventure?¡± In response Cheri grinned and gave Kai their little secret handshake. ¡°That is an exciting idea. But I have a bad feeling that we won¡¯t be let go so easily after today¡¯s spectacle.¡± Both Kai and Cheri retired back to their room to prepare for the next day. Cheri was almost right on her hunch however a plan was already conducted in secret later on that day by a nobleman who was in the crowd that day. After seeing the destructive power that both heroes wield, he must acquire both of them to serve as his pawns in his scheme. In the vacant training ground, he gave his trustworthy aide an order. ¡°Contact the knights and maids under my payroll. I want those two tonight. Use whatever methods you think is effective. This is once in a million chance that I am not letting this opportunity slip by.¡± That order from the nobleman will later put the kingdom that summoned Cheri and Kai in a very bad light.
