    Ahhhh, it was bliss. Darkness and a strange floating feeling. I could barely remember that just a few moments ago I was all over the train tracks. I mean, a little bit here, a little bit there. It was painless but gruesome. A simple dare by my buddies went wrong, and here I am.

    I clicked on all the tabs, and a list of each category popped up. I could have a T-rex head on a little velociraptor body. a 3D model displayed the hideous creature. There was a custom option on all of the categories. I tried the torso customization, and I realized I could make myself any body I want, but the more complicated it got, the more biomass I had to spend.


    I decided on a well-rounded body, not too muscular but not too lean. I made the head a smaller version of a T-rex, with some small ridges on the back of the neck. I had a decently long tail, so I put a hardened tip on it. It seemed useful to have as many weapons in my arsenal as possible. My legs were sturdy but not stocky. I had 3 toes with dull but thick claws on them, perfect for stomping. Now.... my arms. I wanted them to be almost like human arms but thicker and with claws on the end. I settled for a sturdy shoulder and forearm with 3 clawed fingers and a thicker thumb for grasping things. I had 200 Biomass left over, and I didn''t want to waste anything.


    I basically gave myself brass knuckles, but they were hardened scales. I thickened the skin on my legs and strengthened the muscles on my arms. My teeth and claws all grew at least a half an inch. Finally, after all my upgrades, I was done. I had the perfect organism with what I could work with. I was ready.


    At the bottom of the page was a button that read: Confirm. I mentally pushed it.

    Wait, no my eyes were just closed. I opened the scaly eyelids and something warm and wet touched them. It was not even that unpleasant. I could see a faint light, shining through a viscous liquid. There was something blocking the light from reaching me fully. I grasped at it with my wicked looking claws, and I realized I was in an egg! I inhaled some of the liquid in the egg and started freaking out. I was gonna drown! I spasmed and kicked and I broke free of my watery prison.

 Traits and Cave

    I rolled out of the shell, coughing and gagging and choking on the contents of my egg. It tasted alright but I think I inhaled some of the liquid. I blinked my eyes a couple of times to try and get some semblance of control over my situation. My egg was the only one in the nest, so I didn''t have to worry about murderous siblings. I looked to where the light was coming from, and I was shocked.


    I was in a cave. The light was coming from a glassy-looking ceiling and illuminated the sandy walls. I think it might''ve been sandstone. I wobbled around and realized I was a lot smaller than the hologram showed my body. In the 3D model, I was at least 6 feet tall but now I was barely 2 feet tall. My arms and legs were proportionate to my body, so my balance was good despite the change in size.


    I surveyed my broken egg and realized I. was pretty hungry.

    Ugh, there was some sand on the bottom of the cave that had mixed in with part of the egg. I swallowed the last gritty piece of shell. I wonder if I could pull up my status?

    Wow, I don''t know what to choose. Definitely not Dexterous, but the rest is well pretty good. Growth sounds interesting, but it''s pretty vague. Regeneration sounds good, and so does reflexes. Growth... would that be how big I can get? I want to be a well-rounded dino, so maybe I should get bigger and faster.

    I kept walking and I saw the ground was getting increasingly sandy. I came to a small river, about 3 feet wide and only 2 feet deep in the middle. I drank some of the water, feeling the cool liquid rush down my throat.

    If I wanted to survive, I needed to have a higher vitality. I like being the tank, so I could absorb hits and deal out more damage than I took.

 The Hunt

    After I got all my stats up, I was a little bit worried. If I ran into something larger than I couldn''t Inhale, what would I do?


    The farther upstream I went the Fishwalkers were getting more mature. I don''t think I could inhale a fully grown one. I could try and grind a biting or maybe a stomping skill. The Young Fishwalkers weren''t a problem, still only about 5 inches long, but they had longer and more developed arms. It looked like they had small and underdeveloped claws on their front legs, so a mature one might be a small challenge.


    I kept walking upstream, and I came to a cluster of Young Fishwalkers. Chomp!

    Yes, now I could train it to become a real killing machine. It worried me that I was okay with that.


    I kept walking in the middle of the stream, stopping only to chomp the odd Fishwalkers. I only saw Young Fishwalkers now, and I was expecting to see the next stage in age. I wanted to get some more XP so I could form my core. I didn''t want to become a purely melee build. I needed some range and I wanted some spells. I could tank most attacks but there were definitely other powerful beings out there.


    I had been chomping and walking for a little bit when I saw it. I didn''t use my observation skill very much since the Fishwalkers were in clumps, it was just useless information. I was focusing on the creature and I accidentally squished a Fishwalker with my foot. It was an unpleasant feeling, but the bottoms of my feet were dulled, like shoes.

    It had decently sharp claws and a thick tail. It was about a foot long, and I thought I could easily take it out. I ran at it from behind, hoping to catch It off guard. The Fishwalker turned around decently fast and sliced at me with its claws. I tried to stop but I had too much momentum. It barely caught the side of my face with one of its claws, but it still hurt. I snapped it up with my Bite skill, killing it almost instantly. Bite improved, and the Fishwalker was bisected. It had an unpleasant taste.Stolen story; please report.


    A searing pain opened in my chest, right as I got kill credit for the Fishwalker.

    They all looked so good. I thought that the Arcane affinity looked good since it had no specific element. If I specialized in only one element, then I would have a weakness. The kleptomagic sounded really tempting, but I had no offensive spells to start with. I wasn''t very worried about that though, I had a nice melee arsenal.

    I tried out my mana control, and I "felt" the mana within my core. I brought it outside and I saw a thin ribbon of bluish stuff. I could manipulate and mold it with my mind, but it wanted to disperse. I was getting the hang of it, and mana control leveled up.This book is hosted on another platform.     Then, I heard something. It was a noise like a *splat*.


    It was up around the corner. I slowly crept towards the sound. I turned around the bend and saw a.. a slime. Why was there a slime trying to climb the wall? It was making little tentacles but could not get a good grip, so it fell back down. There was a ledge with a small crystal on it that it looked like the slime wanted. I walked closer, only stopping to kick the slime away. I didn''t kill it though, I didn''t get the notification.


    Just then, I felt a foreign presence in my head.


    "Please, don''t kill me. I can help you"

    "I have no name. I am a dungeon core, I just spawned a couple of days ago. I have chosen my Specialty but my only slime fell off my ledge. My mana regeneration is not high enough to spawn a new one yet".

    I cast it, and a weird sensation came over me like I was floating. I WAS floating. "Oh yeah, this feels great" I felt weightless. I looked at my body. It was a human body, but pretty muscular and transparent. I was a big Casper.


    "Wow, you are kinda cute," said Roxanne.


    I struck a pose and did a hair flip. I don"t know how, but it worked.


    She started giggling and we just laughed together. It felt good to laugh with all the crap that was going on.

    My dino body looked it was asleep. I was hoping it had some autopilot. I looked at Roxanne for the first time up close. She had a nice figure with a decently large chest. She had the oddest clothes on. It looked like...

    I quickly looked away, and then glanced down at myself. I was naked too.


    "Is everything ok?" she asked.


    "Yeah, I''m okay I just got caught off guard."

    I looked down and was horrified. It wasn''t short by any means, I wasn''t ashamed of it, but still.


    Roxy thought it was hilarious. "Someone''s happy to see me"

    "You would" she giggled.


    "Would you grow up? I''m merely appreciating your assets" I said.

    I canceled Astral Projection and popped back into my sweet dino ride.


    I loved the feeling of power I felt in my body. Roxy said that she knew of a way out of the cave. The slime had her core on top of it and was like a moving throne. She kept her form projected as she sat on top of my head. I felt a little bit of pressure but she was basically weightless.


    "Could you use your spell-learning skill on Mental Connection? I need to reserve my mana" she asked.


    "Wow, you are so demanding" I teased.


    I wasn''t sure how I could learn it since I had to Observe it to learn the spell. I could feel the mana connecting us, however, so that was a start. I kept casting Observe while I "felt" the pattern of mana.

    "Um, I''m sorry I have to ask this, but what is your name?" Roxy asked me. She sounded serious for once.


    "You can call me Daddy," I said, while I tried to keep a straight face. She burst out laughing. "Ok seriously, you can call me Ryan or Ascendant".


    "Which one do you prefer?" she asked. "It''s your choice," I said.


    "I think I like Ryan better"


    "Then that is what you can call me"


    "Ok then, we''d better stop dicking around down here. I want to get out of this hellhole" Roxy said.


    "Agreed. How do we get out?"


    "I sense a caved-in portion of the cave walls. We can get out there."


    What? "How do you know that?" I asked.


    "I can sense the mana flowing in from the surface," she said. "I am very talented at detecting mana"


    "Well then, tell me the directions to the surface," I said eagerly.


    She directed me to a collapsed portion of the cave wall. There was sunlight streaming in from the good-sized hole. The debris was used as an impromptu staircase. I crawled over the big rocks, while Roxy''s slime held the Dungeon core and slid up with me. I peeked out into the world and was in awe.

 Symbiote

    The view was gorgeous. The flora was huge and colorful, plus they were almost too green.


    "Amazing, there must be a landline near us," Roxy said.


    She explained that leylines were the mana passages of the world. If a dungeon was placed Roxy looked around in awe. Her slime took the core and placed it on the ground. It slowly sunk deeper, like the ground was swallowing it.


    "I will be fine for now, I will start the base of my dungeon domain. Please come back later though, I enjoy your company" said Roxy.


    She sunk into the ground after her slime and core. I snuck into the underbrush, looking for some levels. I saw a burrow, about my size. If I went in there, I would probably be dragged deeper in. I headed away from the danger hole.


    I kept walking, and suddenly a flash of movement caught my eye.


    A small, black, crystalline spider about 6 inches wide, counting the legs, suddenly attached to my chest.

    Most creatures would probably just kill her for the experience. Only sentient or creatures with high intelligence would accept her request. It sounded good, another creature on my side. I accept your offer.


    She slowly molded into my skin, not unlike how Roxy molded into the ground. If I could have seen my core, It would now have a raised black mark in the shape of the spider.


    I instinctively pulled up the number of nanobeasts in my bloodstream, and there were already 2 spawned. I could lightly sense them moving around my bloodstream. I could feel them slowly rebuilding my cells, and making them stronger and closer-knit together.


    I came upon a few creatures, but they were just small rabbit-like creatures with a wickedly sharp horn on their head. When I killed one, the prompt called it a Basher. I met one called a Mana-Saturated Basher. It shot a blue bolt at me from its horn, and I learned a spell called Mana Bolt.

    The Spirit core seemed to be a diluted version of a Beast Core. The Basher was only level 20, so it must have gotten it''s sore from the Mana-Saturation.


    I bet Roxy would like to have some of those cores, I should probably get back to her.

 Spirit Cores

    I cast Crystallize with the Spirit Core option. A small core, about 2 inches in diameter, was created. It was slowly generating its own mana while drawing in some from the environment. I created a Mental Connection to it, and just felt some vague emotions. I told it to start giving me mana, because why not. It created pseudo-limbs out of mana and hopped onto my back. Once it was on top it connected a mana-tentacle with one of my mana passages.


    It slowly fed mana through the connection, and I felt its joy as it completed the task.


    I walked past the Basher burrow on way back to Roxy. A level 31 Nature Basher was just outside of the entrance.


    I slowly snuck up on it from behind and shot a Mana Bolt at it. I barely hit the back leg, but it was good enough to cripple it. Suddenly a greenish glow surrounded it and I got a notification.

    It was a healer. I shot 2 more mana bolts before I got into melee range, hitting it on the side. It didn''t cast heal, so it was crippled again. I hit it hard on the head, knocking it out. I figured it would be a nice gift for Roxy to Bind to her dungeon.

    "Roxy, I brought you a gift." I showed her the Basher, and it started to wake up. It looked around, its eyes were unfocused. Roxy flew right up to him and cast the spell Bind.

    "Hey, Roxy I have another gift for you," I instructed the mana core on my back to dismount, and I cast Crystallize spirit core again.


    "Those are Spirit Cores! How did you make them?" she asked in awe.


    "I can learn spells, remember?" I said in my best "Duh" voice.


    "Of course. I would love some more of Spirit Cores, anytime you can make them. It always helps to have a backup mana supply" Roxy said.


    I agreed with her and created another Core. I didn''t want to disappoint my ally, of course.


    She showed me around the dungeon, and I saw a lot more slimes. The Nature Basher was also healing itself, so it could get back to operating properly. It would be a good support creature. I should find a creature for ranged attacks, but I just wanted to stay solo for now. Also, I had my Nanobeasts and a sexy naked dungeon core on my side, so I think I was doing pretty good. For now, though, I think I am going to sleep.


    I asked to sleep in the dungeon, so I could take advantage of the enhanced regeneration for my Nanobeasts. Their count was already up to 56!


    I was starting to like this new life.

 Earth Matriarch

    I woke up in Roxy''s dungeon, completely full on mana and well rested. Roxy was nowhere to be seen, so I decided to head back out. I figured I had slept for about 5 hours, and I thought the sun would be down. I looked out of the archway and frowned. It was still mid day. I went to sleep in the morning, so it should have deen almost dusk.


    I would ask Roxy about it later. Now, I had over 200 nanobeasts and I was ready for the Baher burrow, I assumed. It was larger than the last time I saw it, but not by much. The thing inside must have grown a little bit larger .I crawled inside the burrow.


    I was suddenly charged by several bashers, but they were only level 6. They posed no threat to me, so I used my Slash skill I had gained earlier. I didn''y check my notifications, but apparently it came from fighting the Nature Basher. I kept crawling, and the ceiling slowly got higher. Two morebashers charged me, and they were level 6 and 7. I bit one in half, but the other one managed to scrape my leg with it''s horn. I quickly sliced it''s head off, so it only did 20 hp damage.


    I looked at the wound, and watched the nanobeasts sew it back together. It was like they started the framework and my flesh filled in the gaps. I snuck farther forward into the burrow, watching my back. If something came from behind, then I could only Mana bolt it.     Suddenly, I fely vibrateions from the earth. A big basher was coming. I saw it come around the corner, and instantly observed it.

    It shot a spike of rock at me, but I dodged. I got a notification that I learned a spell, but I didn''t have enough time to check. This would make a great addition to the dungeon so I had to be careful. I shot a Mana Bolt at its horn, since it seemed like they could only cast from it, but it turned so its armor took the hit. A few rocks were knocked of but nothing major. I shot 5 rapid fire bolts at the leg, and it broke the armor on its front paw. One hit to the leg sent it limping away, the stump completely amputated.


    The fight went on, but then it started to get exausted from blood loss. It slipped unconcious, and I cast regeneration on it. I grabbed it in my mouth and hurried to Roxy''s entrance. I didnt want this thing to wake up in my mouth.

 Time Dilation

    I finally made it back into Roxy''s dungeon and choked on the Basher. The dungeon was much larger than when I had left it. It had at least doubled in size, and that was just the front cavern. The floor wasn''t rock anymore, but lush grass. Several bashers ran past my feet when I stepped inside.


    "Another Basher?" Roxy asked. "Is that all there are out there?"


    "You are so picky. I should just kill this damn rabbit and get the experience" I said.


    "No, It''s ok. It is hard to find animals with cores that can be Bound. They are so hard to subdue without killing them" she said.


    She bound it, and then she explained why monsters with cores were ideal for binding.


    "Monsters with cores can be respawned much easier and faster. They don''t need to be rebuilt completely, I have their basic blueprints from their cores" she said.


    That made sense, but I needed to ask her the question I thought about earlier.


    "I fell asleep for hours in here, so it should have been dark outside. It was barely midday. Explain that please."


    "That would be the Time Dilation. In relativity to the Domain of a dungeon, the outside world is 3/4 slower. That is how Dungeons can re-populate after adventurers have completely killed off all of its creatures."


    "That is very convenient," I said.


    "I know. I told you I could help you. You could stay here and train your spells and skills."

    I must have gained that Earth bolt from the Earth Basher. It was like shooting a rock spike at the enemy. I Went back out into the wild, once again, and started shooting it at the damn mosquitos. I could rapid-fire them at a swarm, and disperse the buzzing cloud.


    I checked my Nanobeast count, and they were up to 235. I needed a strong animal test myself. I casually strolled down a game trail. It looked decently traveled, with some of the underbrush cleared away. I could see small animal prints leading down the path. I shot an Earth Bolt into the ground, every few feet. It would help if I needed to find my way back.


    I saw a pair of much larger tracks, looking like a quadruped form. It had 4 large claws on large feet. They were very recent. I could still feel the ground moving from the footfalls of the creature. It had to be close


    I heard a low growling noise. It sounded close but not within 20 feet. Suddenly, a roar shook the jungle. Another roar answered it. A massive impact shook the trees. The fight had begun.
