《My Dnd Characters》 Archer (Ddeedlebob Wooglewabble) You can call me Archer; I hunt the undead and am looking for my sister¡ No, I wasn¡¯t born ¡°Archer,¡± why do you want to know? Well¡ if you really must know everything about me then I can tell you about where I grew up, what I know about my family.. Um.. uh¡ I guess I can tell you why I hunt the undead¡ I can also tell you about Barktholomew; is that enough? Honestly you have more than enough information right here and need not know anymore¡ I grew up with a band of people, a community of a mix of races. We hunted and gathered and lived alongside the fey. We um¡ may have been traders because of all the different trade goods that was stash¡ kept at our home.. Okay, honestly¡ I believe I was born into a band of marauders or bandits; their occupation was taking goods, but they had no slaves.. We were a family; a very large unconventional family. At home it was peaceful and while I lived there I had no idea of the occupation my family had at the time. I was blissfully unaware. My family were these people¡ what do you want to know? My blood relatives? Well I know of only a few; I heard talk of how my mother was a kind woman who had fallen in love with a travelling entertainer who shared one night together with her. I was told that while she was in her pregnancy she spoke about being a muse of a folk hero who will write ballads of her beauty and grace. I tend to be wary of bards and inquire if they visited a forest outpost¡ I am not certain of his race too many tales of different physiques, a baritone voice, or the voice of an angel. I never met my mother, because she died giving birth to my little sister. My little sister is my twin. My sister¡¯s name is Lorilla Wooglewabble and mine is D¡¯deedlebob Wooglewabble. My sister and I are nearly opposites. I am small for a gnome she was tall and many wouldn¡¯t believe that she¡¯s a gnome but she was born from the same mother as me and only a day later. At my full height I have reached a little over two and a half feet tall. When I last saw her she was still growing and was almost five feet tall. I was born at dusk weak and small. At sun-up my sister was born and our mother died, but she held on long enough to hold us both in her small frail arms, I¡¯ve been told countless times that she smiled and kissed us both of the head before passing away. As we grew up our physical appearances were near the least differences between us. As you can see my features I¡¯ll focus on hers. She has hair that is the same color of brilliant white of the first rays of sun each morning. Her eyes changed color with the magic she used. That is right, she was a natural savant at magic. When we grew up she was naturally magically powerful and a genius able to craft her own spells as well as quickling able to learn spells taught to her. She was easy to get along with, but all the small creatures that would flock to me would run and hide from her. I learned to communicate to the small animals while she couldn¡¯t even approach them. She fell in love with a half-elf named Randal. When I learned they were going to share their union I chose to go out to hunt and find her either a trophy or food for a feast they¡¯d be holding a week later. I went out to hunt in order to find a suitable dish or gift for the celebration. I went far out away from our home and found a very large and territorial beast with tusks of silver. The best correlation I could make to it, was a boar. I set snares and traps for it but it evaded them all showing an intelligence, that had I been a bit older I would have respected. I grew to understand the patterns of its movements and set up traps for it to evade, ushering it to a peak with a sheer fall. In my arrogance I cornered it believing I could scare it off the cliff. I very nearly died as it rushed at me and gouged its silvery horns into me I felt as if I was going to be torn apart, it threw me onto the ground to the cliff¡¯s edge. When I hit the ground a vast gust of air shot from my lungs and I crumpled into the ground barely able to breathe. It sauntered over to me and looked down on me and pierced me with its tusks over and over again. I used my minor illusion and made a large sound from behind the boar and it jumped up and over me off the cliff. At the bottom of the cliff it was breathing heavily and I took my longbow off my shoulder and I shot an arrow and missed. I held my breath refocusing on it, as it tried to get to its hooves and walk off. I made another minor illusion in the air, and it turned to face it, and in the instant the boar creature looked up I threw a rock that hit the boar on the head and knocked it out.Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more. I laid there bleeding out and cursed my own stupidity. A fey creature, who I had previously befriended, flew to me and aided me and brought me from the edge and saved me. The fey creature, a sprite, is named Reginald Quimby. To give you a brief idea of who Reginald Quimby is. He¡¯s a sprite who craves a taste of the good life always craving new or fancy meals. I promised to take him with me and share all my meals with him for as long as he wants to stay with me. Reginald assisted me in regaining my vitality and assisted me by binding the unconscious boar to keep it fresh for the celebration. We made our way back towards the community. I was surprised at how long it was taking, but we were actually traveling at really high speed considering the size difference of me and the boar. We made it through the forest and saw smoke a lot of smoke honestly at first I thought the party had started, but Reginald knew something was wrong. He told me to run, to turn around and run away from as he flew in the direction of my home and turned invisible. I guess I figured it was a prank, but something in the tone of his voice told me it was more. I dropped the comatose boar still bound and made my way home picking up speed before reaching home right on the outskirts where the foliage ended into the clearing of my home. I saw undead and a hooded being in the middle of the carnage. My friends, my family¡ tearing each other apart my sister Lorilla bent over her fiance as he was groaning and periodically screaming out in pain. I fell to my knees in shock, as if she heard me her head snapped up and looked through me with with solid red eyes her face covered in Reginald her lover¡¯s blood. I thought she was crying over her love¡ But no, she was eating or drinking him. I climbed up a the tree and agonized as if driven there without my consent. I shot an arrow ending Reginald¡¯s misery. Everything turned into a blur and I lost consciousness. I don¡¯t know what happened to the robed being or my sister they were both gone when I woke up. I felt it as my duty to end all of my family¡¯s unlife. I spent a few years and found everyone; there were only a few left to find. Some I found the corpses and prayed over them. Some still live but far away from where our home was¡ There is only my sister left. I traveled amongst communities and occasionally some citings and learned about and hunted the undead who prey on the living. I see them as a plague infecting and consuming. I found family again through Barktholomew. One day I found a diseased creature chasing animals around the forest and chose to put it down. When I did I saved the den of badgers that was being attacked. Using my natural talent to speak with small animals I tried with these giant badgers. I befriended them and raised them for around fifty years, they grew bigger and stronger each generation. In the most recent generation of the badgers grew very attached to me, and came with me when I left to go on my excursions to look for my sister and end the undead. I named him Barktholomew and he¡¯s like a son to me. He is very tame and I would like him to stay innocent and stay away from battle. I¡¯ve trained him to dive into the ground and dig around until the area is safe, and if need be leave me to die. He has an excellent sense of direction I knew he¡¯d be able to get home. After my training I stopped travelling to populated areas and search for undead to vanquish. I can hunt and gather for myself and any of those accompanying me. I have the common occurrence where I don¡¯t understand the laws of man and will occasionally ignore them if I can get away from it. I tend to work as a guide with people to earn money for traveling expenses as well as to pay for equipment maintenance or fancy feasts for Reginald. I also take jobs to end the undead and the odd bounty to rid bandits from the area. Occasionally I¡¯ll gamble using my skills, I don¡¯t always win it is not really that big of a deal I never trade something I can¡¯t live without. When a bandit pleas for his life or vows to turn their lives around I let the bounty go and let them go free. I will return in the area sometime later to see if they¡¯re falling back into old habits and if they are, they die. Poachers.. Poachers I kill, no second chances. Flint Ugget My name is Flint Ugget. I was born in the Iron Mountains a nameless orphan, I do not know who my parents were or of what caste. Without a family I was displaced; floating doing odd jobs for the Pillars. I found my first passion ale¡ Pardon me I lost my train of thought. Ale... I learned to brew my own ale. Apparently it was good because I used my home-brewed ale to barter with the Pillars. That is where I received my military training, but without a family name I could not officially join. I do not remember who named me or when I was named. Before I reached adulthood I joined a group of contracted guardsmen for a new mining outpost in the Steps for fifty years. My job was to safeguard the miners however; during my extended stay I found that most of my co-contracted workers did not maintain their equipment. At first I merely sharpened the guards¡¯ weapons, but eventually I was put in charge of weapon and tool maintenance for the whole camp. There was no forge or smith, but as time went by I started my brewing up once again. I kept doing my guardian duties, but found that the guard post¡¯s bunk was too far from the mine for me to handle all the camp¡¯s equipment. Using my ale as compensation I pulled on the hard work of the camp to build a pub with an attached smithy. Here I was able to mass produce my ale and find my second passion smithing . It is exhilarating pulling the impurities out of ore making something shine and meet the needs of the community; Ha! I had pointers from the miners but found I had a natural talent in this work. When my fifty years of guarding were up I stayed on as a smith and the pub owner. Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. Our small mining outpost grew time and time again as more and more ore veins were found. We had trade with the goblins who had plagued many of the dwarf encampments. Some would leave you to believe it was our ¡°outstanding guards¡± trained by the Pillars that warded off potential threats. But I believe it was deals made in our early establishment to trade protection for some of MY ALE. I learned to speak with the Goblins here in my trading. We have been at peace; trading and working with any race that will deal fairly. Any those who do not wish to be fair are not a problem. We were after all trained by the Pillars. In time I had many apprentices; some training brewing and others in smithing. I have had dozens of apprentices most of which quit out of frustration because I was never formally trained and they had their pride I suppose. I don¡¯t hold discriminations that most other dwarves have. My favorite and best apprentice Wort a goblin girl who really surpassed my skill in smithing. When she married and was thinking of leaving to set up her smith I gave her a wedding present my small fortune and my smith. She vowed to name her first son after me. I stayed in the pub for some time when the guild offered to take it off my hands for a small agreement to waive my monthly payment of five gold a month to be part of the guild. I gave them my recipe and gave them the pub, but left the smith to Wort. I started my journey to learn more and give Wort her freedom without my prying eyes. I did jobs for the guild of various needs. I have escorted tradesmen and built houses with my gained knowledge. I even get to work part time at a smithy and pub occasionally. I have traveled far and wide across Cronitex never staying in one place for very long. Rolen Nailo How may I help you? My name is Rolen ¡°Rollin¡± Nai¡¯lo. Nai¡¯io means Nightbreeze. My child name was Naill I was born in the Forgotten Realms. I was born with copper skin with a dull hue of green. I have two colored eyes; a hazel eye and a brown eye, and pale blonde hair. My family were proud Wood Elves and knew very little of the world outside the Forgotten Realms. I grew up to know dwarves as oafish idiots, unsophisticated, poorly mannered, with crass humor, but at least their best smiths were capable to create art that approached elven quality. Halflings are good folk and they have proven themselves tougher than they seem when the need arises. Humans are too much in a rush, pushing to always accomplish their goals during their short lives; Even though they are in such a rush they have accomplished a lot, but would be better if they would learn to slow down. (as described in the handbook). I valued the pride of our people and was shaped by it. Before I get too caught up in my own memories; I have a secret that no one alive knows and that is that everytime I go into a trance or have a long rest I have a prophetic visions. I have had them for as long as I remember when I was small they were so detailed, but as I got older they became more vague and hard to decipher.. Anyway, they helped me make simple and complex decisions and essentially guided me to solve some problems such as: where I should go fishing, to avoid a tree that would inevitably fall where others and I were playing, to put out a fire that lightning struck that would have spread into a large wildfire. I did not question it and I did not talk about it¡ In my adolescence I met Bryn, she was my greatest rival. We were not evenly matched, she was very smart, and I tended to do better at archery. We would face off countless times challenging our weaker matched skills in order to overcome our weakness and win against the other¡¯s strength. Before we were adults I loved her, and I had been bound to her. Bryn¡¯s skin shimmered in the sunlight giving her skin the appearance of gold, and the accents of blue that shifted to that of the most beautiful platinum, her eyes were like pools of liquid emerald, and her hair was like midnight and appeared to reflect the night sky when it was wet. She is the only one who recognized my visions, and wanted to help me accomplish them. Prideful as I was, I was convinced it was my own insight and nothing outside of me I stopped sharing my visions with her. I started to ignore them most of the time and did as I saw fit; often avoiding the vision¡¯s location to actively ignore it. We grew up and finally became adults choosing our names. I chose Rolen and she chose Merilele. I would wager there have not been more happy wood elves among the Forgotten Realms. Sharing our glee together embarrassed our families; Sharing our affection publicly displaying it openly; to the shame and ire of our families. They questioned our haste, commenting that we were similar to humans, we took delight in each other; Time went fast. Too fast¡ We were guards keeping the peace, dealing with monsters, and keeping lesser races away from our community. I was having a recurring visions of my love in the middle of a field facing me walking, backwards, away: she was colored in grey. Emotionless. I ignored it¡ I WILL NOT GO INTO DETAIL, I cannot bear it.. She was lost to me because of my inaction. In this time after I was lost physically and emotionally; seeing her in my visions in different locations which I followed aching for her, searching for her. Finally I saw her turning away from me and walking into the water. I got on a ship as soon as I could and sailed around seeking her out. That is the last time I have seen her. I spent some time on boats using up what remaining money that I had on me when I departed. Taking ship after ship across the water searching for my love that I knew, deep down, that was already gone. When I was down to my last trip I met this smiling toothless old man, who must have been going blind. He asked what job I did because my skin was so tan. I ignored the old man and he got off and as I did, he sat beside me. He began to talk; half to me, half to himself or the sky or the water. He stayed with me as I was spiraling in pain and guilt, and he kept talking to the weather. He didn¡¯t leave at night he just stayed beside me smiling along as if the world wasn¡¯t crumbling around me, but as if it was a normal day. The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. I understood that the world wasn¡¯t crumbling, just mine; My heart shattered, I was afraid to rest I yearned to see my love but I feared now that I wouldn¡¯t see her as I haven¡¯t since she walked into these waters¡ I continued to lament and this fool just kept smiling, eventually I turned to him and asked him what made him so happy. He said, ¡°Oh there is someone sitting there? How may I help you?.¡± The next couple weeks are a haze to me, he stayed by my side. In my time with him I learned his name, Sergor. The old man turned out to be a cleric of the merfolk deity of the sea Eadro, a god of neutrality.. I learned of his religion and faith that there was not focused on good and evil or following the laws it was to adapt to life and live on. Sergor had a more benevolent view than the God he followed and helped me. In time we became friends. He helped me overcome my crippling depression giving me a target, something to do. Sergor showed me the ways of the sea and brought me to assist him with his duties. We helped those in need and I kept busy. He may not have known about my visions, but he saw that I would awake in sadness and gave to me a token that he had. A trinket to help one have pleasant dreams. This nightcap became my good luck token. While I sleep with it on I ceased to have my visions. It was the first time I slept without them. I was freed from this lifelong plague. My philosophy changed, I stopped seeing people in the ways that I had been taught. Each new person was a new entity not defined by what others have said, but they are the sum of their actions and words not someone else¡¯s. As I followed Sergon, I discovered that I had some latent healing abilities. I learned more about Eadro and my knowledge turned to faith. I was no longer pushed by my visions and was finally able to be my own man going where I wanted, and I wanted to help people. Time went on as it does. And Sergon became ill. This man, my friend, died with a smile. I took his place healing and became a sailor travelling spreading the word about Eadro. I had many adventures; Killing monsters, healing wounds, being generous to my friends, and saving those in need, fighting for the wellbeing of others. In this way, close to five hundred years pass. I was known by sailors as a helpful hand and am often called upon to join their crews temporarily. I tend to wear my nightcap during the day, and it hides my ears. In these years I¡¯ve become old and wrinkled. I joke that I¡¯m not sure if I am wrinkled from age or from spending too much near the water. One night my cap fell off one night due to an especially strong wind and I had another vision. The first vision since I received this trinket. I was on the same ship I was sailing on that I was in a trance in; the ship¡¯s crew were doing their duties and all of a sudden they froze in place some mid- step. The boat and the crew and the water all frozen however, there was a blur happening outside the ship. I saw as the seasons were changing rapidly the crew and ship all still frozen in place. I looked back at the crew and they stood their emaciated and then mummified and then skeletons. The seasons outside the ship stopped and at the same time the bones fell to the deck. The sea started to sink into the ground draining into cracks that was the sea¡¯s floor. The bones that were the ship¡¯s crew starts to pull together back to their old bodies and slowly start to stand up, and skeletons rising up from the floor and one skeletal remains of a woman with long dark hair. Once they¡¯re all up; there is silence that stretches out¡ I took a breath in and a step towards the woman and every single skeleton snap their attention to me staring at me. I woke up. I interpreted as it being time to help the world to fight the Undead in hope to stop the Undead threat. I felt that doing nothing would lead to the inevitable future of desolation. I got to land and started my journey helping people, healing the sick, and assisting in the destroying of the Undead. I would sleep with my night cap unless I didn¡¯t know which path to take. The last dream I had was of a church with a boy standing on scattered corpses including a Dwarf with a maul and a lance. I have wrinkled copper-colored skin with a slight green hue, which can pass for tan. I have bleached white hair. I have two different colored eyes; a hazel eye and a brown eye. I am often wearing my good luck charm my very old nightcap. Mi Tosscobble (Squiggles) Their parents are twin halflings are Wellby Tosscobble and Bree Woodwillow (Maiden name) who fell in love and in time moved to the big city refusing to work the general store in the Halfling village of Wyegrove. The tale of Me and Mi Tosscobble that were twin brother halflings born into a family, as babies they moved to the large city Wyemoor on the continent of Sothor, but before that is the story of their parents. They didn¡¯t have dreams of making a name for themselves, but to give a chance for their sons to have a better future of pursuing what ever dreams they have instead of living in a podunk village where your only option is following the same career their family chose to do long ago. Bree had the dream to be a musician or perhaps a bard, but that wasn¡¯t an option in their village so she being true to her dreams became a music teacher. This was particularly unheard of in the village that she lived in, but the other halflings shrugged it off to being an anomaly because of her lineage; her family had once been oddball adventurers. In Wyegrove it was most common for you to bare many children and the oldest would take over the business or more rarely one of the other children would take over. Some of the siblings would work together to make the family business prosper. The ones that didn¡¯t fall into the business would marry into another family and work with them. This is just how it worked in that village. Bree Woodwillow¡¯s family were independently wealthy living off the fortune they had amassed long ago when they were still adventurers. She had many curios still from a massive selection that had slowly been whittled down in their generations of free living. The ones she still had were: A piece of crystal that faintly glows in the moonlight, several coins minted in an unknown land, a diary written in an unknown language, Teeth from an unknown beast, a pipe that blows bubbles, a tiny gnome crafted music box that plays a song, a small wooden statuette of a smug halfling, a shard of obsidian that always feels warm to the touch, a dragon¡¯s bony talon hanging from a plain leather necklace, a blank book whose pages refuse to hold ink chalk graphite or any other substance or marking, a small, weightless stone block, an empty glass vial that smells of perfume when opened, an illusionary gemstone that looks like a lump of coal to anyone but the owner [passed on only when the owner(s) die], a mechanical canary inside a gnomish lamp, a dead sprite inside a clear glass bottle with a small ¡°R¡± inscribed on it, a metal can that has no opening but sounds as if it is filled with spiders, a glass orb filled with water in which swims a clockwork goldfish, a candle that can¡¯t be lit, a tiny cage with no door, an old key, a hilt from a broken sword, a pyramid of stick black incense that smells very bad, a nightcap when worn gives you pleasant dreams, a crystal knob from a door, an ornate scabbard that does curious things to short swords slid into it, an iron holy symbol devoted to an unknown god, a book that tells the story of a legendary hero¡¯s rise and fall, with the last chapter missing, a vial of dragon blood, a black pirate flag adorned with a dragon¡¯s skull and crossbones, a tiny clockwork spider that moves about when it¡¯s not being observed, and a metal urn containing the ashes of a hero. Wellby Tosscobble was the second son of the Tosscobles who owned and ran the general store the ABC or A Bountiful Cornucopia in Wyegrove. His older brother, Roscoe, was happy to accept the ownership of the store, but less in actually running the store. Wellby was duped into running the store on his own until Wellby began to enjoy it. When their father died Roscoe was in trouble as he didn¡¯t really know how to run the store without Wellby¡¯s assistance. The village learned of the shenanigans that were going down and it was expected that Wellby would take ownership of the ABC, but Wellby refused and instead assisted his brother Roscoe in learning and taking over the shop himself. Wellby and Bree knew of each other but did not really have any time together unless Bree was purchasing something at the ABC or asking a question about the ABC which was admittedly rare. Bree had since a small(er) halfling been going off to a clearing outside of Wyegrove to practice various instruments she had purchased and self taught herself how to play. One day Wellby felt stir crazy feeling he could use a change went for a walk outside the village. As he was about to turn back towards the village he heard something, but couldn¡¯t make out what it was. He followed the sound and he felt as a twig snapped under his foot abruptly the mysterious sound cut off and he couldn¡¯t find it. He looked about for awhile but was unable to find it, and thought perhaps he imagined it and went to walk home when he saw a shift of leaves in front of him red hair shot out amongst the trees, or at least he thought so. But when he heard no sound so he figured it was all just his imagination. Wellby lost his peace of stillness that was his life in Wyegrove. He started taking walks daily sometimes more than once daily tending to walk through the wooded area where he heard the mysterious sound. In the months to come he heard the sound again and again differing sound and pitch, but maintaining the same rhythm and tune. This tune had subtly invaded his mind, singing to him in his dreams, surging through him. He would hum it throughout the day (not even thinking about it.) While working at the ABC he became absent minded while tending to the store he hummed.Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. Bree tapped him on the shoulder and asked him where he learned the tune. He was surprised, not really realizing he had been humming it. He was taken aback and stammered giving an incomplete answer and rushed to the backroom claiming to need to do something. Two fold Wellby was shocked Wellby¡¯s version of the hummed song was jovial and hopeful, whereas Brees was that of deep sadness. Skip Ahead When Bree¡¯s uncle died he had no successors so the bar he owned in the large city of Wyemoor he passed along the deed that was granted to him property tax free. The building in her uncle¡¯s time was a bar/tavern. It was transformed into a shop/house. The start of the shop consisted of purchasing the less fine cheaper productions of other shops and honestly labelling where they were gotten sold at a slight profit along with the general store¡¯s curios of Me and Mi¡¯s mother¡¯s heirlooms as curios to get people to step into the store. The shop included teaching students who wanted to learn various musical instruments and the vast assortment of wares and excellent service as well as directions and assistance. The halfling parents feared for their children as nearly the only halfing children in a large city of people two to three times the size of them picking on them or treating them poorly. Monk/Martial Arts Monastery that had a branch in the city found that once their master died they stopped having people appearing for the chance to train and learn of the teachings. The expensive property tax had them looking to make money to make enough to reside in the city. The monks/teachers sent out fliers to give lessons for a fee. Anyone would be welcome to try for one week without payment. This was to try to get more people interested in the monastery. Bree and Wellby set aside money so that their sons could have weekly (karate) martial arts lessons. There was a magician that was really well known throughout the city as being rich and very powerful. The magician came time and time again to the shop looking to purchase all the curious for a lot of money but Wellby was always against it so that the boys would have their heirlooms and heritage. Two curios that the magician seemed most fascinated with; was the illusionary gemstone that looks like coal to those who don¡¯t own it or have no magical power. The other was an ornate scabbard that had a strange capability if you put a short sword into the scabbard the hilt would fall and the blade would disappear. Returning from karate practice the boys saw a cloaked figure, as they got closer they recognized the figure. They saw as the high Magician was leaning forward toward the halfing store/home and a massive pillar of fire erupted out of his hand and when the high magician recoiled from the fire the many curios were seen stowed under the cloak. The boys frightened for their parents rushed into the store/home and ran trying to get to their parents to save them from the fire that quickly engulfed the store/home. Me ran to the stairs and disappeared from view, Mi moved in and tried to extinguish the flames near the really dangerous flammable objects. Me returns down with their mother, she¡¯s coughing and very weak, she must have inhaled too much of the smoke. From in front of Me a large explosion erupts and he¡¯s blasted back falling to the ground and ceases to move. Mi tries to rush over and save his brother but falling beams separate them. Mi stopping from extinguishing fires gets hit by a smaller explosion and in runs the high magician he comes in bows beside their mother Bree and picks up Me and runs out of the building. Mi stands and tries to get to his mother to save her to pull her out of the building but another explosion sends him into a cabinet that knocks over he is protected from the flames and the smoke. Eight years old and Me is left with nothing. The savings were taken by corrupt officials saying he was fined, that that a promise to his ancestor only went so far. There was no one to take Me in so he ended up on the street. What little money he had left was swindled off of him. He found that all the curios were gone his parents asphyxiated in the fire, his brother¡¯s body wasn¡¯t found. He became an urchin fighting for survival. A couple weeks later he saw the magician in the possession of many of the curios showing off them to people. The High magician demonstrated how a coal that would not go abaze, that shimmered in the light to reveal to Mi a gemstone. He even saw the ornate scabbard on the High magician¡¯s belt. This thief was showing off the spoils he wrongfully stole when he destroyed Mi¡¯s family and life just weeks earlier. With this event Mi swore he¡¯d get back his family¡¯s heirlooms. Mi went to the scoundrels and learned what he could from them, when he had made enough money he¡¯d go to learn martial arts learning all he could desperately. He learned as many skills as he could from both the scoundrels and the monks; and received a test to find out if he had learned enough after three years. He felt he could always learn more, but there was word on how the High Magician was to go abroad soon and leave the city to work and research in some secret tower of magic magically hidden. Mi had only under a week to get back what was rightfully his, but he chose to strike the night he heard the information on where his heirlooms were. He disguised himself and climbed to the roof of the building and entered the top window from the roof. After he made his way through disarming three traps he saw it one of his family¡¯s heirlooms the ornate scabbard. Not trusting that he¡¯d be so lucky as to find the scabbard on display with no lock for it specifically he took out a short sword and slid it into the scabbard to find the hilt fall and the blade disappear, knowing that this was definitely the correct scabbard the took it and stowed it away. He looked around for the rest of the heirlooms and found them in a case all displayed each with a tag. ect. He outreached his hand to the cabinet not looking for traps and when his hand touched the cool glass the cabinet vanished, everything vanished except for him and what he had on him. He searched around the house and there was nothing, everything was gone and everyone. Mi had failed, he redoubled his efforts pursuing to learn all that he could from the monks following their teachings always returning to the streets until he grew enough to call himself an adult. The monks admitted then that they had no more to teach him, that he was only missing practical experience to get stronger. He left with his skills and experiences in hand and mind to pursue the High Magician and to get stronger to obtain his lost heirlooms. He tried to honor his parents in this way¡ He even did his best to learn the Dulcimer and traveled alone. Nameless What I remember of my youth with humans, was being told that I looked beautiful almost elvish until they took a step to the left. If I was lucky they¡¯d only scream and run away. Usually they would call me undead, ghoul, or zombie, and try to stone me to death. I am getting ahead of myself. I was born into a village where the birth and child mortality rate was really high. Disease ended the lives of many babies and there was also the idiotic children. [Some would walk into the wilds in a bravery contest or out of some undeserved pride and get lost or get scooped up by some denizen be it of the wild or something more sinister, I do not now.] Children did not get names until someone from outside the village came to visit. The parents would not name their children, it was taboo to. Instead, they waited for adventurers or perhaps the odd tax collector with a peculiar naming sense. [Copper, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Opal, Pearl, Garnet, or some other valuable object.] He never received a tax he was particularly fond of, our village was farmers; he got food. I was not bestowed a name *gestures to my face* before this happened. When I was a boy, no more than four years old, my village got the special event of an arrival of a self-proclaimed adventurer, but he was barely more than a snake-oil salesmen. He made grandiose exhibitions of potions and alchemical wonders. He chose one person in the crowd and healed them with a potion of healing, showed the amazing power of a fire-breathing potion, and wove flame in the air. It was the single most beautiful thing that I had seen up to that point. After he got his haul of food and secret whispers in closets with some unattached ladies, he was feeling especially generous and offered to name some of the children of our the village. I was near the front of the line when I snuck away from the group. I felt drawn to his wagon. I had to get a closer look at the magic fire in a bottle. I got through the crowd and to his wagon of intriguing curiosities and I reached up for the bottle of alchemist fire. I reached on the tip of my toes and almost got it when someone noticed me. The bottle opened and splashed the side of my face, and luckily that is all it hit. What happened next was I blacked out. I screamed something so terrible that it terrified everyone in the village and put an end to the naming ceremony. I was saved by Gent the charlatan. Stealing is serious shit; in this village, if you were caught stealing you were shunned and sent outside the village with nothing. I was not so lucky. I had played with fire and when I was startled it splashed on my face and I blacked out from the intense pain. I let out an agonized wail so loud everyone in the village heard; there was no hiding this, even if I wasn¡¯t burned. The right side of my face melted away. The skin is gone, what remains is barely more than bone. The skin around my right eye is gone, and due to some magic Gent performed, I didn¡¯t lose my eye. There was no way to pay for my blunder. My parents, not even the whole village would have had enough money to pay for the debt I incurred. I was given to Gent to make up for the debt of twenty-five gold pieces the price for the alchemist fire that was splashed on my face and the healing I required not to die that night. Gent though able to use magic, is a charlatan. He used deceptions to trick people into buying his products. He is a cleric of Erythunul and his way to appease his deity, or so he said, was by tricking people. I do not understand it; why do people put a requirement for their magic. I know magic exists, but why do people with magic sometimes claim to get it elsewhere? Thousands of people pray; if that is all it takes then everyone who prays would get magic. But no, that doesn¡¯t happen. It is something you are either born with or not and I was not. I get that I don¡¯t have magic, and I understand that if I were to pray I would not bestowed with magic now. That does not happen. Gent, Gent has magic, he used illusions and lies to make people believe his tonics did more than they actually did. He would have me walk through the crowd, pick me out and use an illusion to make it look like he reduced my melted face to that of a scar. He told me a complete recovery would be far too unbelievable. Yes, I stole once when I was four, but he stole by selling ineffective, ¡°potions of healing.¡± He had me mix ¡°potions¡± for him. They consisted of: water and whatever was readily available usually dirt. I would try to mix in mint, when I could, so that people would not have to have the taste of dirt in their mouth when they purchased these. Throughout my time with Gent he only ever called me ¡°boy¡±. He often regaled me with the power and beauty of his God Erythnul, but I guess he is too dumb to understand the power of his magic, is his alone. One day he came upon a different kind of settlement. There were no humans in sight instead there were Dwarves and Gnomes. He started his performance and I began walking through the crowd as is my usual setup, but because there were literally no humans here except Gent and me, he was laughed at by an older dwarf. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. This older dwarf¡¯s name is JohJan his beard was peppered with gray and his neck was burned severely. JohJan the dwarf came forward and saw through all of Gent¡¯s deceptions and pointed them all out to the crowd. JohJan pointed me out and asked to buy me from Gent. Gent was startled from having his every trick seen through, and the negotiations began. Now Gent claimed that I was his nephew and his precious apprentice and couldn¡¯t let go of me for nothing less than one hundred gold. JohJan poked holes in his store and looked at me and asked if what Gent said was true, and looking down I said ¡°no¡±; JohJan told me to look at him while I spoke to him. I looked up, ready for screams but none came, he looked at me and me at him, a few moments passed. JohJan repeated himself and I responded with a ¡°No.¡± Gent started changing tactics and admitted his lie and said I was a thief and it was only by his benevolence and that of his God Erythnul that I was spared from judgement. He began saying that I was not worth much to him. Apparently I was not worth much but he received double my debt to him (fifty gold). I joined the community when I was seven and they were going to try to have me come in as an apprentice for JohJan. When I was brought to the smeltery for the first time; I saw the flames and the heat flowed over me and I fainted. This wasn¡¯t the proudest time in my life. I told JohJan how about the whole Gent affair; it was found out that I had a trauma and before I did anything else, I had to learn to overcome my fear. We started with small fires and discussing the nature and the use of fire. Yes, it is powerful, but it is important to know that fire is life and it is also creation. While my progress with fire grew; it was made clear that my trauma was deeply rooted and it would take some time to get over it. I would continue to work with JohJan to try to overcome my trauma, but I would also get training in other fields. This is where I began my time with the gnomes. The gnomes are amazing tinkerers and inventors. I suppose I wasn¡¯t introduced to the gnomes at first because of their sense of humor and pranks, and they weren¡¯t sure I could handle it. The gnomes found it fascinating that I didn¡¯t have a name. These little guys, having little to no experience with humans told me they have many names. They all started calling me ¡°Nameless¡± as a joke, but the name stook. With the gnomes I quickly picked up Gnomish and learned the intricacies of some of their inventions. I was handed some of them and I began taking them apart to see how they worked. I found I could understand how they functioned, but my undexterous hands had trouble putting them back together. I floated between many jobs and found cobbling to be what I was best at. I never stopped training with the Dwarves and finally pushed through my trauma and learned to appreciate it though it still made me uncomfortable to be too near to it. I could handle the bottle of alchemist fire without fainting so that was progress at least. I didn¡¯t focus on smithing of metal working; I began watching weapon training and the strategic drills. JohJan designed a warhammer for me so I could participate in some of the drills. I was able to see the patterns and learn them quickly. I was able to handle the weapons and learned all that I touched. I am no genius it did take time to train, but time I had. After Gnomish, Dwarvish was much easier to master as if the script were the same. If only all days would go as nicely. One day; I woke up to screams and yelling and fire. I was able to center myself and I took up the warhammer that JohJan had designed for me. Our settlement was under siege by Goblins and Kobolds, they had banded together to assault the settlement. Together they made a breach through the palisade wall and were surging through it. I fought, this wasn¡¯t the first time I had caused someone to shed blood, but it was the first time that I killed. I was not ruined with guilt. These were invaders and I knew our settlement would fall if they were not stopped. I battled tactically, surprising kobolds as I made my way to where ¡®alchemist fire¡¯ was held. I took several vials and snuck and fought my way to the breach and threw down one vial of alchemist fire. I burned the entrance and the Dwarves and Gnomes were able to make short work of the kobolds, now able to deal with them without fear of their reinforcement. I stayed and when the fires went low, I readied to throw another vial toward the breach when an enemy rock flew from outside the palisade wall and hit the vial in my hand and it broke and burned me¡ I didn¡¯t pass out this time. I held the breach blazing, my neck and left arm was engulfed in fire. Not a single kobold or goblin got past me before I was relieved from the breach and I fell and passed out. When I woke up I was venerated for holding the line. I was given the best military training and a formal education in both Gnomish and Dwarvish. I was educated in all I could learn, and in time I felt it was my time to enter the world and pave my way to stand separate and strong. By the time I left home, the palisades were replaced with stone walls. I joined mercenaries, avoiding humans when I could. I would love to find a place to settle down, make, and sell shoes, but with a face like this.. It is not so easy. DESIGNATION: DUCKLING (Ink) The memories of UNKNOWN DESIGNATION experience only go as far as when SPECIES DESIGNATED GNOME: DESIGNATION - D''DEEDLEBOB WOOGLEWABBLE other alias ARCHER. booted me up as UNKNOWN DESIGNATION THIS UNIT. DESIGNATION UNKNOWN have special knowledge as it pertains to specific circumstances. UNKNOWN DESIGNATION have a special knowledge to imbue to a JUGGERNAUT CLASS Warforged, start up with combat proficiency. The files/capabilities that UNKNOWN DESIGNATION have unlocked to THIS UNIT are currently only low level monk as they are the only ones UNKNOWN DESIGNATION can handle. THIS UNIT''s chassis can and build is ENVOY CLASS Warforged. When UNKNOWN DESIGNATION was booted up UNKNOWN DESIGNATION could only mimic DESIGNATION: ARCHER and was temporarily designated as DUCKLING. DESIGNATION: DUCKLING followed DESIGNATION: ARCHER''s daily tasks for a standardized solar cycle whereupon ending my rest cycle and not resetting DESIGNATION: DUCKLING''s memory. DESIGNATION: DUCKLING continued to follow DESIGNATION: ARCHER mimicking and gaining rudimentary grasp of languages and domestic work such as preparation of nutrient supplements, and systematic movement, fluctuation, or variation marked by the regular recurrence of natural flow on a tool DESIGNATED: HARP. After several solar cycles [97 to be precise] DESIGNATION: ARCHER was broken and was unable to recharge properly. It''s body needed additional time to self-regenerate. DESIGNATION: DUCKLING continued DESIGNATION: ARCHER''s duty sub-optimally. Without DESIGNATION:ARCHER''s aid DESIGNATION: DUCKLING concocted a perfectly healthy digestible bio-matter which was met with looks of confusion and ultimately disgust. DESIGNATION: DUCKLING also replicated the use of the HARP, but it apparently requires more study for timing and amplification of force. The next day DESIGNATION: ARCHER needed still more time to recharge. DESIGNATION: DUCKLING followed others more skilled at the jobs DESIGNATION: DUCKLING was trying to become proficient with. In study eventually DESIGNATION: DUCKLING began to see the subtleties were required in each task. Finally when DESIGNATION: ARCHER recovered DESIGNATION: DUCKLING was able to practice DESIGNATION: DUCKLING''s finesse and apparently DESIGNATION: DUCKLING''s superior vision. DESIGNATION: DUCKLING could detect abnormalities that were too small or just plain unseen by others. DESIGNATION: DUCKLING and DESIGNATION: ARCHER and his group DESIGNATION: ARCHER''S EXPEDITION FORCE aka DESIGNATION: AEF met some DESIGNATION: DWARF(VES) who introduce THIS UNIT to a species altogether more bulky than DESIGNATION: DUCKLING''s or the gnomes. DESIGNATION: DUCKLING was then informed that there are many kinds of different races. The DESIGNATION: DWARVES restocked the gnomes with nutrient biomass as well as metallic components. When DESIGNATION: AEF were inspecting goods DESIGNATION: DUCKLING was drawn to the metallic components. There DESIGNATION: DUCKLING assembled another Warforged, but minuscule with out JUGGERNAUT CLASS programming. This tiny prototype was of inferior make, materials and workshopUnauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. Time for DESIGNATION: DUCKLING sped up and everything slowed down around DESIGNATION: DUCKLING''s radius. The cooresponding programming unlocked within this unit. There were various subroutines unlocked within DESIGNATION: DUCKLING such as: BARD, MONK, RANGER, OR ROGUE. Each had a requirement of this own skills and equipment that required upgrades that scale stronger as strength is accumulated. MONK however, grows as a weapon without relying on outside factors such as weapons or armor. When DESIGNATION: DUCKLING chose MONK the other choices went dark. Time reset after the choice was made. When DESIGNATION: DUCKLING returned to just after creating the PROTOTYPE: MICRO JUGGERNAUT. DESIGNATION: DUCKLING attempted to make another, but was still restricted from programming sophisticated subroutines in this tiny PROTOTYPE: MICRO JUGGERNAUT. The PROTOTYPE: MICRO JUGGERNAUT was a failure, only able to perform the most basic tasks it was imput with. The DESIGNATION: AEF were thoroughly impressed and sold the two PROTOTYPE: MICRO JUGGERNAUTs only to procure a vast collection of components. Most of the DESIGNATION: AEF had some knowledge of basic construction and programming (able to only program a single task). The SPECIES DESIGNATION: DWARVES kept pointing at DESIGNATION: DUCKLING, it seemed they wished to barter for possession of DESIGNATION: DUCKLING now designated TINKER..... DESIGNATION: TINKER suspected that these SPECIES: DESIGNATION: DWARVES attempting to imply DESIGNATION: TINKER''s only capable of tinkering. Being oblivious that DESIGNATION: TINKER was offended they would have the AUDACITY to imply that I, WARFORGED, am a simple CLOCKWORK!!!... ... ... I?
Needless to say my value is significantly more potent and the DESIGNATION: AEF didn''t attempt to sell me... They do however have a quirk they like to make puns and jokes. The AEF named me for the color of my metal and the Gnomish/ Dwarven joke on my finesse and aptitude with tinkering; they named me Ink. Tinkerer profession. Dark metal Ink. The FORESHADOW Who is the Foreshadow? This is the reportive journalism known under the Alias as The Mad Hatter and I am here to share the news discovered through my personal expense the exhaustive investigation to find which of the following possibilities are actually the truth. ¡ Read more within ----> I acquired an interview with the Gladiator FORESHADOW. Through my in-depth reporting with my breaking story for FORESHADOW¡¯s friend Ira the Indomitable; the sensational story of an overbearing father (Rokas) who didn¡¯t approve of his daughters taste in friends¡ Please refer to ¡°Battle Pit Princess Issue # 202.¡± Where you can learn more about the dynamics of Sharie and Rokas in the battle pits. Remember this included the covering of why Indomitable Ira left the arena. The FORESHADOW is a woman of few words. In our interview I discovered that the origins of of her parentage are unclear, but she was at one time part of a family of OWL BEARS. She was adopted by owl bears they brought her into their flock and considered her one of their own. The FORESHADOW demonstrated her capability of speaking in the uncommon tongue of Owl Bear; my translator, who accompanies me on all interviews, was astonished in how fluent the FORESHADOW spoke such an uncommon language. A calm unlike any other time in the interview fell upon the FORESHADOW whilst she spoke of her time with her owl bear family. Her guard had fallen revealing a glimpse of her true age, enough that I struck out to inquire how old she was. Always a dangerous proposition trying to inquire the age of women¡ That is right, we can reveal to our small corner of the world that this feral fighter, the FORESHADOW is in fact eight years old. Sorry to our theorists, but it appears that she is not some halfling hybrid. This impressive fighter, so young, had quite the shift of expression when she spoke of the abduction from her family. I know this may put many people on edge, but the description of her abductors are that of people who curiously resemble to here to known adventuring party, ¡°Second Chance.¡± Yes, the famous group of adventures given a second chance of thieves and ne''er-do-wells that supposedly turned over a new leaf. Could the rumor of them turning over their ill gotten gains to benefit society be nothing more than heresay? Are these new ¡°saints¡±; ruffians in disguise? That is a question for a future issue¡This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author''s work. Now back to our story at hand¡ The FORESHADOW or Miss Shadow as I will now henceforth refer to her as was abducted from her family and placed in the Battle pits where she learned from the fighters here in Malimore. When she was brought to the city away from her family her feral nature made her not suitable for being sent to an orphanage. She was for all intents and purposes a wild child completely uncivilized. The fighting pit arena was a place for her to channel her rage and keep her from hurting the public at large. Her fury from losing her family and being thrust into a very different world. As we all know she started her rise to fame when Ira the Indomitable disappeared after her intense bout with Lovely Levea the barbarian woman who frequents the arena. With Ira gone Sharie or the Battle Pit Princess, as some of you know her better as, was in severe depression at the loss of her bosom buddy Ira left lonely. Sharie sponsored Miss Shadow. (Sources that say that allowing Sharie to sponsor Miss Shadow was Rokas interference to soothe Sharie¡¯s sadness are neither here nor there.) Sharie created an ironic stage-name/visage for Miss Shadow. Sharie had been the first to give Miss Shadow the name the FORESHADOW. If you place the name the FORESHADOW versus the image of the gallant knight that is Miss Shadow¡¯s it creates quite the juxtaposition. It is true that the armor is all smoke and mirrors and only implies protection it is little more than costume. Initially Miss Shadow was placed in fights against easy enemies, but it was quickly prevalent that she could handle her own and the quirk of the cryptic name and absolutely adorable visage has created a bit of a cult following. She is now participating in full weapon fights that sometime leads to crushing destruction of careers. It is true that there has been a change within Miss Shadow. All we know is that Miss Shadow had a fire lit under her when she heard about a flock of Owl Bears, with a peculiar feather pattern, that have been participating in Artilon circuses. She has been fighting more enthusiastically to end her contract with Rokas¡¯ fighting pit. Is this for her long gone family? Will this young battler leave our stage? More in the Next issue of Tenebrous Tabloids here in the city of Malimore. This is the Mad Hatter and as always I am pleased to share the news and current events with you.
