《Kiyu's Box》 1. Gabriel & Lilith I am God. I don''t say it just to brag. Since my birth, a total of 67.433.177.021.859.512.746.305 coincidences happened after I became aware of my status as God. If they were just "normal" coincidences, then I wouldn''t have bothered counting them, would I? The guy that tried to bully me ate a mosquito while he was shouting. Congratulations for discovering a new kind of (gross) allergy. During tests, be they multiple choice or open-ended questions, any random answer I give ends up being correct. This does provide for some funny situations, especially that one time when I asked the teacher to explain their reasoning behind why they thought ¡°Frog.¡± was one of the correct answers to the question ¡°How was the universe created?¡± A passerby in front of me dropped just the right amount of money I needed to buy ice-cream. I call it ¡°long-term borrowing with 0% interest rates,¡± as do some others. I could go on and recall each and every coincidence, but that would be a waste of time. In the end, what I want to say is: I am God. The God of Coincidences. So, is it a coincidence that I¡¯m lying here, on a bed, bleeding to death? It all started on that normal morning full of coincidences...
¡®It¡¯s the first time the alarm didn¡¯t wake me up, guess today I had to be late or something.¡¯ Gabriel continued to walk down the street normally, until he saw the usual crossroad. ¡®Before, I never bumped into someone... I hope today is my lucky day~¡¯ And he did in fact bump into someone at the crossroad. They both fell down, but coincidentally, the asphalt under Gabriel¡¯s backside was slightly softer and cleaner, not causing any harm to him or his clothes. ¡®Who... ?¡¯ Looking up, Gabriel saw a girl so beautiful that he forgot to breathe. It was the first time he found a girl so attractive. She had silver coloured eyes, dark-purple hair and an almost white skin. Her half-closed eyes gave her cute face an aloof and mature appearance. Gabriel immediately noticed that she wore his school¡¯s uniform. He stood up and offered her his hand, which she accepted. ¡°New student, eh?¡± ¡°...Yes.¡± Gabriel remembered each face of all the students and teachers at his school, so he was certain the girl before him was a transfer student. ¡°My name¡¯s Gabriel, what¡¯s yours?¡± He said while he gave her the most sincere and reassuring smile he could muster. The girl looked at him for a moment, no emotion showing on her face, and then replied in a soft voice ¡°I¡¯m Lilith..¡± The two relaxedly walked toward school, forgetting they were late as they talked. Coincidentally, Gabriel and Lilith liked the same music, the same colour, the same author and the same subject. They both hated potatoes, but while Gabriel preferred sweets, Lilith preferred spicy food. ¡®I like her.¡¯ By the time they arrived at school, Gabriel already felt something for the petite girl. She appeared to be 15~20cm smaller than him, meaning she was only 165~160cm tall. Stealthily, Gabriel noticed her breast size to be an A, maybe a B if he wanted to be generous. At the school¡¯s front door the two encountered Gabriel¡¯s homeroom teacher, who started speaking with Lilith. Coincidentally, thanks to listening to the conversation between the two, Gabriel found out that she was going to be part of his class. ¡®And the seat the next to mine is empty too~¡¯ Gabriel wasn¡¯t punished for arriving late as he had to help the transfer student come here. Lilith made a strange face, maybe one of slight disgust, when the teacher paused a second and then told Gabriel he wouldn¡¯t receive any punishment. Gabriel thought it was just a coincidence. The rest of the day flew by, and it was already lunch break. More than half of the students in their class went to the cafeteria at the ground floor. Gabriel bought some light sandwich with his friends while Lilith ate an home-made lunch at her own desk. When Gabriel came back he saw Lilith was quite busy answering the probing questions of some students, and thus decided to not mentally overburden her by joining in, content with simply letting the others ask the questions he was interested in. After school was over, the students began to leave the classroom. Some female students tried asking Lilith if she wanted to walk home with them, but Lilith refused by saying that today she couldn¡¯t do so. Gabriel finished putting his books and pencil-case back in his bag, he was about to stand up when Lilith grabbed the hem of his school uniform. She looked at him in the eyes and spoke ¡°Show me around the school, please.¡± And so he did, thinking that she probably asked him because of the ¡°bond¡± that started forming between them that morning. As Gabriel and Lilith walked around, they encountered various students, some going home, some going to their clubs, some doing homework in the classrooms and some just hanging out without reason. Lilith didn¡¯t seem interested in any of the school clubs, but she did glance at Gabriel once in a while. His curiosity about her actions reached a level so high he couldn¡¯t contain it anymore. ¡°What is it? Something strange on my face?¡±This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source. He asked with perplexion. Lilith kept her aloof behaviour, as if she was expecting him to ask that question. ¡°I like your hair. Can I touch them?¡± ¡°E-eh? ... Uhm... sure?¡± Gabriel was rather startled by Lilith¡¯s direct attitude. He blushed a little and before he told her it was okay, a few seconds passed. Once he gave the go ahead, Lilith nodded and said ¡°Nn. Follow me.¡± The two walked to the school¡¯s garden and Lilith sat on a bench near an oak tree. There was a slight breeze that refreshed the air and made the trees¡¯ branches move slightly. Lilith looked at Gabriel in the eyes and patted her laps. Gabriel couldn¡¯t believe it. ¡°Seriously?¡± Lilith nodded. Gabriel laid on the bench on his side, his head on her lap, so he wouldn¡¯t face her. In front of him there was the garden and not once did he look away, certain he¡¯d blush even more if he stole a glance at Lilith, who was currently passing her delicate fingers between his hair, caressing his head.
In the following three months, Gabriel and Lilith continued that routine, not always after school but invariably only once a day. They¡¯d do it in the mornings, if they arrived particularly early, or they would do it at lunch break, if they couldn¡¯t do it in the morning and either one had plans after school. That routine led the entire school to believe the two were lovers, a rumour that was easily proved wrong after some students talked with Lilith and Gabriel. Gabriel would just say ¡°It¡¯s nice, so why not?¡± while Lilith replied ¡°I like his hair.¡± Which left all the students stumped, wondering as to why they weren¡¯t a couple. Some time after that, one day, Gabriel began to lie on the bench on his back. He would stare at the sky for a while and then he would observe Lilith until her eyes focused on him. Happy that he managed to get her attention, Gabriel would smile silently before he went back to staring at the sky and its clouds. The next change happened a week or so later, when Lilith began resting the hand she wasn¡¯t using to pet his head on his chest, directly above his heart. ¡°It¡¯s calming.¡± She said before Gabriel could talk. At that point, no one believed them any more when they said they weren¡¯t going out. ¡°Let¡¯s go on a date.¡± Said Gabriel after Lilith had smiled back at him for the first time, when he was about to start staring at the sky again. Her smile felt mesmerizing, intoxicating, and at that moment, Gabriel thought he¡¯d do anything just to see it again.
Walking down the main street, the two passed by many shops, houses, bars, restaurants and other things. Gabriel was walking Lilith home after their date. It was around evening, it was dark but not so much that the street light had to be turned on. Coincidentally, a couple was walking in front of them and the man dropped a coin. Gabriel bowed down to pick it up and just as he did so he heard two things. The first, a swish typically made by sharp objects, the second thing was a woman clicking her tongue. At the same time he touched and grabbed the coin, he felt warm rain pour on him. He straightened up, wanting to visually confirm the weather. ¡°KYAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!¡± The man that had been walking in front of him was now missing his head while the woman was on the ground screaming. Gabriel unconsciously frowned as he felt his stomach twist, so disgusted by that sight he wanted to churn out the food he had eaten. The first thing Gabriel did though, after realizing the situation, was to cover Lilith in case danger was still around. He never was the athletic type and didn¡¯t have much force. He never practiced martial arts, much less trained in something. He disliked sports too. Still. He would protect the girl he.. loved. Lilith made a surprised face when Gabriel embraced her, not that he saw what face she was making. She knew him well, very well, so this action puzzled her. ¡®Why is he protecting me?¡¯ Later, after they had discussed with the police and gave their testimony, the two were free to go back home. Of course their parents had been called, as the two were both minors. Gabriel¡¯s mother met Lilith¡¯s, the two women seemed more shocked that their children had a date rather than by the inexplicable murder. The day after, when the two were back at school, Gabriel and Lilith were once again on their usual bench during lunch break. Lilith¡¯s right hand rhythmically caressed Gabriel¡¯s head. His chest calmly moved up and then down, each time slowly lifting Lilith¡¯s left hand. Gabriel put his right hand over her left hand, making Lilith¡¯s right hand stop for a second before it restarted passing through his hair. Gabriel lifted his left hand and touched Lilith¡¯s cheek, stroking it with almost the same timing she was caressing his head. Neither smiled as they stared in each other¡¯s eyes. They continued like that until the bell signaled the end of the lunch break.
A year passed and now Lilith and Gabriel were an official couple. Lilith invited Gabriel to her home that day, saying ¡°My mother won¡¯t be back until evening.¡± Gabriel felt a bit nervous but his happiness surpassed that, allowing him to act normally. Then, it happened. Gabriel was over Lilith, the two were on her bed, when he felt something cold press against the back of his neck. ¡°Don¡¯t move.¡± He recognized that voice. It was the voice of Lilith¡¯s mother. Gabriel looked at Lilith with a perplexed face, but Lilith was giving him an emotionless stare, and not the candid look she had a second ago. Her eyes, in that situation, seemingly gave him shivers. ¡®They are so cold...¡¯ He felt Lilith¡¯s mother restrain his wrists behind his back with some kind of handcuffs. She then grabbed the collar of his shirt and threw him to the wall. Gabriel slightly bit his lips from the pain. ¡°Get up.¡± Lilith stood up and walked beside her mother, who never once stopped staring at him. ¡°What is happening? Lily?¡± Lilith¡¯s mother raised her hand and Gabriel finally saw what had been pressed against his neck, a gun. She pointed it directly toward his head. ¡°Did you think it was a coincidence?¡± Her mother spoke. In response, he just tilted his head. There were just too many coincidences in his life. She rolled her eyes, annoyed. ¡°...That you met Lilith. Or that a man that was calmly walking in front of you was killed.¡± ¡°Weren¡¯t they?¡± She made a devious grin. At that, Gabriel stared at Lilith with a shocked face, waiting for her to deny it. She was biting her lips while looking down, her mother didn¡¯t seem to notice that, but she kept silent. He knew. She too had fallen in love for him, and that proved it. ¡°Well, anyway now that you are here, you won¡¯t be able to twist the world¡¯s fate to your liking anymore.¡± She shot and missed. She clicked her tongue and spoke again. Gabriel opened his eyes, he had closed them when he heard the shot, and saw tears forming on Lilith¡¯s eyes. ¡°I won¡¯t miss a second time, scum.¡± This time Gabriel steeled his will to not close his eyes. He stared at Lilith and she stared back at him. She had grabbed the ends of her shirt, holding them as tight as she could. Lilith¡¯s mother shot. Gabriel grit his teeth. His mind couldn¡¯t think of anything but ¡°pain.¡± He continued to look at Lilith, who had finally begun to cry. Without noticing, he cried too. ¡°Mission accomplished.¡± Lilith¡¯s mother went away, coincidentally not noticing what was happening. Gabriel slowly slid down until he lay on the bed. He could distantly feel the blood on his chest seeping through his shirt and dyeing everything red. Lilith sobbed and climbed on the bed. Once she was near enough, Lilith put her lap under Gabriel¡¯s head. She caressed his head while her tears wet his face. Gabriel slowly raised his hand and began stroking her cheeks. ¡°I... love your smile...¡± He made a weak smile while he looked directly in her eyes. Lilith forced a smile and Gabriel closed his eyes. She leaned down and kissed him, making him smile once again. ¡°I love you, Gabriel...¡± He heard Lilith say while everything became dark... 2. Grace ¡°For as long as I can remember, I have been serving my country as its lapdog. Stealing this and that, spying some other country''s politicians and killing our country''s bad seeds. My name is Grace, but I don''t know how old I am or when my birthday is. Still, based on my and others'' appearance I reckon I''m around 20 years old. Some members of my squad say I''m lucky to still be alive. They don''t say it because they hate me, I believe. They say it because I''m an old model. Old models spend their own life to use their powers, so they all die quite quickly and, in fact, I''m one of the few remaining. To me, this is a monotone, colorless world. Almost nothing ever changes, if not for the few turning points in my... career. The first was when I saw the life in the eyes of a man slowly disappear as he bled to death. It¡¯s not like I hadn¡¯t killed anyone before, but that was strange. It didn¡¯t feel right or wrong, and neither did I enjoy it. It just made me fully realize how fragile our lives are, how quickly time passes and how easily it is to lose everything. The next turning point was when I was on a spying mission abroad. The person I was tasked to shadow made his bodyguards kidnap a young girl like it was nothing, and then the guy proceeded to have his way with her, before torturing her to death. There was never any investigation on the matter, the politician was pretty influential and he easily made the victim¡¯s family shut up, either with money or intimidation. That was when I realized the value of my life. I was like that girl, no, maybe worse. There would be no one to grieve me, unlike her, so I knew that my life was worth nothing. I understood that, no matter how useful I proved to be, the government would still kill me and make a better, more powerful, agent than me. The last noteworthy event was when I had to ¡®punish¡¯ a traitor of our country. I tortured her son and daughter until the two had a mental breakdown, then I killed them. The woman¡¯s face continually distorted in rage and despair. I learnt with my own body how much a strong will can do. The deep emotions etched in that woman¡¯s soul gave her a temporary boost in strength, she freed herself and almost managed to beat me to death before I killed her.¡± As I finished my story, He makes a sad face as He looks directly at me, in my eyes. He took me away from the government, He saved me when they were about to dispose of me after I made an error. It wasn¡¯t such a big deal, they just wanted an excuse to terminate me. The two of us are currently being pursued as traitors, so we often have to fight, which leads to me once again using my powers, but I don¡¯t mind. If it¡¯s for freedom, if it¡¯s for Him, then I don¡¯t mind, I will gladly use all my remaining life. When He first saved me, it was like the world finally had colours, it wasn¡¯t dull and gray anymore. My heart started beating and I could feel the warmth of His body mixing with my own, making me feel secure, making me feel at home. He was always there for me after I used my powers, He would gently hug me from behind and stroke my head, reassuring me that everything was okay. His sweet voice always lulled me to sleep, despite the pain my body was in. We traveled all around the world and our country, at first it had been difficult to go past the border. I finally knew what ¡°fun¡± really felt like. We visited monuments, saw beautiful sceneries like the sunset at the border of a canyon, the dawn at the peak of a mountain, the starry sky encircled by trees as we laid down on the grass in the middle of a forest. I tasted food completely different from the one the government had provided me before. I tried many different clothes and hairstyles, we walked hand in hand in the midst of people, happily strolling in the city during our date. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. But, they always managed to find us. With time, it became more and more difficult to escape and more and more painful to use my powers. I wondered why the government was so persistent in trying to kill me, it was not like I knew any important secret and I would not live long anyway. Then, one time, I was so tired His voice wasn¡¯t able to make me sleep. My blood seemed to be boiling, my skin was like it was being pierced by thousands of needles, my bones creaked like a poorly oiled door frame, my nerves were taut like a bowstring and even a gust of wind stimulated them. His phone rang. I was surprised he still hadn¡¯t gotten rid of it. His voice was cold, unlike the gentle and calming one he always had. I was so shocked my body was petrified and I stopped trembling from the pain, his words were like a knife repeatedly peeling off layers of my heart. His voice had always been able to soothe me to sleep because that was His power. He was their lapdog, He was the one to inform them of our location, He was a traitor. To let me escape and be saved by Him, it was all their plot. I can¡¯t fathom why, probably just to experiment more with me one last time before I died, while also making sure that I wouldn¡¯t rebel. As soon as his call was over, I used what little strength I managed to scrape up and instantly made my arm pass through his heart. His face was a mix of surprise, rage and something else, something I didn¡¯t recognize. As His life faded away, I brought Him closer to me and embraced Him. I gave Him one last kiss, a tribute to the little slice of real life I obtained thanks to Him. His blood on my arm slowly became cold and dried up, but I didn¡¯t care. I slowly walked without a destination while thinking about my country and the government. Ugly feelings I never experienced before blossomed in my heart. I vowed to kill them, down to the last one of them. I would spare no one, there would be no mercy and there would be no way back. It would not matter how much of my life I would use, not a single one was going to escape my wrath. I was done being someone else¡¯s plaything, so the first thing I did was go to the next appointed safe house He had prepared and wait in ambush. Whether I killed them or I fled, they were going to notice nonetheless, so why give my prey a chance to escape? After I killed the group of pursuers, I drove toward the airport and got on an airplane directed to my home country. The plane was shot down before it could land, but using my training and my powers I saved myself without complications. The moment my feet touched the soil underneath I was surrounded by agents, both with and without powers. It didn¡¯t matter, sooner or later I would have to kill them too, so I didn¡¯t care. The only problem I had during the fight was dodging the snipers¡¯ attacks. Still, they were no match for me. The reason I was alive even now, was because my power was one of the strongest. The other old models were the same, we were the cream of the crop, elites. In exchange for not using their lives as fuel, the new models were inherently weaker. I briefly wondered who was more pitiful because, at least, we would spend less time as slaves of the government. I even had the chance to experience a near-normal life. Casting such thoughts aside, I shook my head and proceeded onward, I was done here. After that it was a repetition of hiding and hunting, blurred memories of countless homicides. None of them begged, none of them showed emotions or care toward their fleeting lives. It was their duty, so it didn¡¯t matter to them. I wanted to change that. During my time with Him, I understood just how precious life is, that is why I will destroy the government. We are not their playthings, we have our own lives and they have no right over them. Somewhere along the way I began coughing blood, but it was just a minor thing. Months passed and fewer groups tried to stop me, they had realised how futile it was, but the groups always consisted of powerful people. I even had to kill some old models, but my resolve didn¡¯t waver, it only got stronger. When I was done with planning and preparations, I was ready to take on the government. A network of sewers ran all over under the city, and even under their base. I made my way through them for about two hours before I was even remotely near the government. It was at that moment that agents began appearing in front of and behind me, it seemed like they weren¡¯t all that stupid. I fought and fought, but the end was nowhere in sight. Then, I tasted something bitter, rotten and with a trace of something metallic. I had trouble breathing and the pungent odor of the sewer was stronger than ever. I realized I had fallen face first in the dirty water flowing in the sewers. What I was tasting was the combination of that water and my own blood. The water was especially cold and I could feel something missing inside of me. Time seemed to pass slowly, so slowly that I had enough to think back on my entire life. It was a harsh one, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The chilling cold of the water slowly crept inside my body, freezing it. I could feel something pulling my conscience away. Then, everything went dark. 3. Dreiser ¡°Sigh...¡± Ahh, another sigh escaped my lips for the nth time this month. Thinking back on it, maybe I shouldn¡¯t have left this affair alone thinking that with time, it would resolve itself. I thought this disciple would be better than the previous ones. Leaving behind a sigh yet again, I used a basic earth spell to bury the corpse of my 315th-ish (? Maybe 321st?) disciple. After I was done I slightly bowed my head and clapped my hands toward her tomb and gravestone. Let¡¯s be positive and believe that next year¡¯s apprentice will not end up the same as its predecessors! I waved my hand in the air, activating my custom-made teleport spell. Well, it actually only transfers me to places I already visited; moving to still unexplored areas is something that escapes my grasps, let alone the temporary removal of the existence of living beings and their subsequent reappearance in a different place. I still have problems with inanimate objects after all these years... Sigh... ¡°... Ahem¡¡± Hearing that old man intentionally clearing his throat to get my attention, I snapped out of my depressing train of thoughts (I gotta think positively!) and looked toward him. As always, he¡¯s old, even older than the last time we met. Well~, speaking truthfully, I am older than him, but my body has long since stopped aging and now I¡¯m an eternal 28 years old man, yay~! ...Anyway, let¡¯s get to the point: ¡°I dealt with her, Marx.¡± Marx¡¯s left eyebrow twitched, but he didn¡¯t say anything, no one in the room said anything. Even if they wanted to, they didn¡¯t have the power to make me address this old man as ¡°Emperor Lujios the Second.¡± Ahah, with a quick glance I could see the most stubborn and loyal mages and knights go red from anger, which made me chuckle a bit. Then I refocused my attention on Marx as he began speaking again. ¡°We thank you, esteemed Arch Magus Dreiser, without your assistance Our empire would have suffered a great loss. As promised, We prepared your desired reward; Knight Captain Simisis will lead you to them.¡± The old man, from up on his extravagantly furnished chair, waved his hand toward a slightly younger, compared to him, man dressed in full-body, shining mithril armor up to his neck; he held his helmet with his left hand, between his side and his arm. I had noticed Marx¡¯s subtle accusation in his thanks, but I let it slide, I¡¯m a magnanimous man. I acknowledged his words with a simple nod and then looked toward Simisis, urging him to move with my eyes. As expected of the Knight Captain, he wasn¡¯t disturbed by my ¡°insolence¡± and just briefly turned his head toward the old man to get his approval, which he got. He was a man who knew his place well. I let Simisis walk ahead of me, I didn¡¯t want to engage in any kind of chit chat while I immersed myself in my own thoughts. Ahh~, new workers and new test subjects at this time of the decade is sure a blessing. Maybe the fact that all of my disciples become power-hungry is actually a good thing? Yeah, let¡¯s think like that. Positive thinking, positive thinking! And so we entered a spacious room outside the compounds of the castle. In the room there were many people of various races, gender and age. Equality for everyone~! After I gave them all a cursory look, I turned to the Knight Captain and with a short ¡°Thanks.¡± I sent him away. He closed the double doors after exiting the room, leaving me to do my own things, which were inspecting the workers and slaves and then taking them away, to my laboratory. I cleared my throat, attracting the attention of the thousand or so people in front of me. Some were happy, some were not. I¡¯m happy you are happy, let¡¯s hope together that you¡¯ll remain as such. As I thought that, I gave out a warm smile to all of them. Strangely, I could now sense some fear coming from them, oh well. ¡°Well then, let us begin the inspection.¡± Concentrating for a bit, I start moving the outer mana through my body, fusing it with my own aura (and soul), and then expelling it and commanding it to enter the bodies of everyone in the room, me excluded. Wide-area analysis magic; an original of a mage from the neighbouring Kingdom, who lived some centuries ago. Detailed information about each and every living being present in the room flowed into my head; since it hurt a lot, after the fifth time I had used it I decided to enhance my mind, so there¡¯s no more pain now, yay~ I looked to the left, there were some infected with different illnesses. Sigh... I guess I¡¯ll have to give Marx a scolding later on. I concentrated again, this time extending my aura outwards and using it to mold the outer mana near the sick people, slowly enveloping them in a translucent cocoon made out of the ethereal mana. Those with keen senses and those able to see mana began making a commotion, so I used a tiny bit of my already largely occupied concentration to cast a silencing spell. An hour had passed before the cocoons had healed the people up to a passable degree. Every life is valuable so let¡¯s not allow silly illnesses to waste them!Enjoying the story? Show your support by reading it on the official site. ¡°Fuu...¡± I took out a bottle of water to drink before once again using wide-area magic. This time I would transfer together with more than one thousand people, a minor, simple thing, really! I once again waved my hand in the air after a few seconds of concentration. While I could not transfer in places I hadn¡¯t been to, I could transfer others to places I had been even if they hadn¡¯t. While it was simple to understand why, I had a hunch that by deepening my understanding on this ¡°simple¡± fact would lead me to discover the answer to the first problem about teleport spells. It¡¯s a side project I am currently working on. ...Another sigh escaped my lips thinking about the many deaths this project has caused, but I am positive I will reach a conclusion in half a millennium or so, that is why I won¡¯t give up! Space distorts slightly all around us for an instant and then the scenery changes, successfully arriving in the prairie before my laboratory. As always, the new workers and test subjects are impressed by the obsidian, seven-story tall building, wide and long at least three thousand kilometers on each side. Truly spectacular, if I can say so myself. It also took a long time to build, like, really really long. And let¡¯s not talk about how much stuff is inside. Fortunately, I don¡¯t have a problem with thieves or people trying to conquer this land! Multiple barriers make locating this place impossible, then there are various barriers to prevent people from getting near, barriers to disorient those who do get near, barriers to make the groups of people who get near fight amongst themselves and such, barriers that kill intruders and finally barriers to prevent other people from teleporting anywhere near my laboratory. People told me I was being paranoid, before I showed them scenes of entire armies trying to enter my domain, in case they weren¡¯t currently trying to do as such. Though no one has ever been able to break through said barriers, in the case they ever managed to, I have prepared countless other measures, like my guards: elemental beings turned into loyal golems. Going to their respective planes and subjugating their leaders had been no easy task at the time. Now I am confident I could redo everything in less than a week, without taking a single break. Thinking about this made my chest well up, inflating my ego and pride even more. Then, I noticed the anxious and confused gazes directed at me. Sigh... my thoughts got side-tracked again... ¡°Follow me.¡± Using sound magic to amplify my voice, I directed everyone through the ground floor of the laboratory. The first stop was at the baths, I had them all clean themselves and then change in a set of clothes I conjured from one of the many facilities of the tower. Then, I led them to their quarters on the first underground floor, where they would be now living and eating. All the previous residents died of old age two decades (probably more) ago, so there was enough space for everyone who would become a worker, which would essentially mean my future butlers and maids. Now I still had around three hundred people following me, my test subjects. I took them up to the first floor, where more luxurious rooms were available. After seeing the rooms, maybe, most of those three hundred or so people understood my intention and what their future would entail, but as they could do nothing about it, they just hung their heads low. Having finished all my business for the day, I transferred myself back home, more precisely in the bathroom. I took a long, relaxing shower, then I observed myself in the mirror. Yep, after all this time I still look like a 28 years old man. My short, black hair didn¡¯t have a single gray hair in it, no signs of a beard was visible but I could see bags under my black eyes, I hadn¡¯t had the chance to sleep much lately as I had to deal with my now-dead disciple. I gotta say I¡¯m as handsome as ever though, ahahah~ Confirmed that, I went downstairs and prepared dinner for me, my wife and my daughter. I liked making sumptuous, foreign food for them, but they rarely appreciated it, ahahah! Still, I¡¯m positive that one day they will happily eat it! After dinner, I brought my sleepy daughter to her room. I gently laid her atop her bed and then I lovingly tucked her under the bed sheet. I put my hands on her cheeks and gave her a good night kiss on the forehead as I whispered to her... ¡°Eli, daddy can¡¯t wait for you to wake up...¡± Then I once again made my way downstairs, where my sweet wife was waiting for me. Seeing this made me smile from the bottom of my heart. We spent some time together in the living room before deciding to retire for the night in our room, which was upstairs, near our daughter¡¯s. Inside the bed, I, without hesitation, hugged my wife from behind, candidly embracing her. She was slightly cold, thus I decided to replace the magic crystals in our house tomorrow. I felt the claws of sleep tearing away at my consciousness, thus I quickly said to my dear love... ¡°I love you so much, Mary... I hope tomorrow I¡¯ll be able to see your smile again...¡± I always said those phrases to both my daughter and wife before going to sleep, it was like a ritual to maintain my sanity through the passage of countless years and it served me to keep thinking positively. Then I dreamed about a long forgotten past. It was rare for me to dream, much less for me to keep lucidity through it. This only meant one thing. I dreamed about a long forgotten Kingdom and a likewise forgotten King. I dreamed about the small village in which I, my Mary and our little Elizabeth lived in so many years ago. Then I dreamed about the time in which the King went mad and ordered his army of knights to attack our village. Later on, I discovered he had done such a thing because he received an oracle from a magician which stated that someone from that village would later kill him. Well, in the end it came true because of his own actions. Then, just before waking up, I thought about myself, about my identity; maybe to reassure myself I was still me even after all this time had passed. I am the Arch Magus Dreiser, this world¡¯s first ever Necromancer, and one day... I will successfully revive my wife and daughter. 4. Miyu Magirawashi Miyu (¼Š¤é¤ï¤·¤¤ÒФæ)
"Aah..." A short sigh escaped my lips as an aunty passed by me, effectively cutting in line for the register. It wasn''t the first time this happened, "Um, excuse me? I was here before you..." I would timidly say after tapping on their shoulders, and usually there were two distinct results: I was yelled at and called a liar, or I was persuaded to be "more respectful" towards the elderly. That''s correct, I''m that kind of unlucky girl who not only is barely noticeable, I''m also really shy of strangers. Toritsuku (È¡¤ê¤Ä¤¯), my boyfriend, always tells me not to mind, but how can I not? I''m not like him, I can''t stay cooped up in our room for such long periods of time. I have to help Mother-in-Law clean up the house, resupply Tori-kun''s favourite snacks for the day, study (I hope to become a veterinarian one day!), do the laundry on even days and cook on odd days. Mother-in-Law is even busier than me, but that''s only going to last until I''m accustomed to doing the other chores myself. Fumu, life is only going to get busier and busier for me. "... And that''s why, young lady, next time you shouldn''t even mind the small stuff, we''re old people and who knows when we might leave this world? You should be more respectful toward your elders." The aunty''s ending jab brought my mind back on track. Focus, focus! I smiled, in bitterness, and nodded with my head to indicate to her that I "understood and accepted her reasoning." Accepted my ass, what else could I do? If I started yelling at her, no matter how right I was, I would just be judged as a "disrespectful and despicable" girl or something along those lines. I speak from experience. Sometimes, I ask Tori-kun if he really thinks that it was a good idea to have brought me to live with him in this place. I always feel so out of place, being the only one of my kind here. I mean, true, I constantly see other non-humans going around town, but none of them were like me. It was soon my turn and once I was in front of the cash register and the supermarket''s employee, I stole a furtive glance at her. My body reflexively relaxed once I noticed it was a familiar face, meaning I didn''t have to submit myself to strange gazes or even painful questions. Well, the questions weren''t painful per se, what was painful was the amount of times I had already answered such questions. "Hello, Magirawashi-san. How are you today? Is Tsukkun working you too hard? If he is, you just come here and tell me, we shall see if this time''s beating won''t fix him, hmph!" This particular acquaintance of mine was one of those outspoken fox girls that you could meet almost everywhere in this country. Really, meeting a fox girl which wasn''t even a little bit cheerful or extroverted was like searching for a grain of sugar in a mountain of salt. ... Fumu, it seems that I''m a bit too hungry, it''s even started to affect my analogies. "... I''m good, thank you for worrying about me, Inpon-san (Òù±¼)." I left shortly after a brief conversation. I''m really not good with such people, most of the time they aren''t even a little bit ashamed of talking about such subjects, even when there is a line of people waiting to be served behind them. As I was leaving, I didn''t miss Inpon-san''s smirk, surely because even in that short amount of time we chatted, she was able to make my face beet red. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. Like I stated before, I''m unlucky: I was in such a hurry that I didn''t even notice the rogue-looking person I ended up bumping into. Straining to look up at him, I could see his face slowly form into a scowl as he looked left and right for the culprit. Where was I? I was already miles away from the crime scene. He will never catch me alive! Cough, cough. Jokes aside, I guess it''s for times like this that I''m grateful to be myself, and to have such a caring boyfriend: if it wasn''t for the technique he specially came up with for people like me, I doubt I would still be in one piece now. Still, I''m never going to shout out such an embarrassing thing like "Crab-walk Escape Ninjutsu!" like he told me to do. "Are you okay, Miyu? You seem really tired, do you want me to cook instead?" "N... no need, Mother-in-Law. I, I was just so eager to come back and prepare Tori-kun''s lunch that I may have run a bit too much." Mother-in-Law narrowed her eyes at my response, and I once again realized that I truly couldn''t hide anything from her! That said, Mother-in-Law does not have only a sharp mind, but she also has a very sweet and kind heart, and that is why she didn''t pursue the matter further. I don''t really remember what kind of "dere" Tori-kun said she is, but I will never forget how Mother-in-Law was always ready to stand by my side to help me when I truly needed it, like when I first came to this place. I was confused, scared and lonely. It was her gentle hug that slowly brought light to my mind submerged in darkness, and this, I will never forget. I softly knocked on the door, "Tori-kun, lunch is ready~" I gently said to my beloved on the other side of the room. I''m sure I had a bashful expression, for I could feel my face heating up. It always made me happy to know just how much Tori-kun liked the food I made for him, and each time before his first bite I couldn''t help feeling all fidgety and stuff. Really, I was happy. "Un, I see, it''s already lunchtime, uh? Sorry for making you wait." "Uum... um... how, how is she?" "Oh? Ah, yes, I understand. She''s almost ready. Wanna see her?" To my nod, Tori-kun responded by opening the door to his room so as to let me in too. As I walked forward, in the direction of his desk, I sent curious glances all over the room; it didn''t matter how frequently I came here, it was always different in one way or another. I looked down and I saw the drawing of a girl: she resembled me for the most part, but her eyes were a different colour, she was younger and had a more boyish look, and "Thus the much smaller chest!" said Tori-kun, seemingly proud to have guessed (somewhat) and interrupted my train of thought. ''Does he like smaller ones?'' I wondered for an instant before concentrating on the drawing once more. The reason why it''s obviously a girl and not a boy, is because Tori-kun drew her naked. Really, he can be such a pervert sometimes! "Hu¡ humans aren''t born with clothes on them." He said while looking away, trying to justify his perversions. I don''t hate such a Tori-kun, but to establish dominance, as Inpon-san taught me, I looked at him coldly! And, and I even rebutted him with a "We''re not humans." But, sigh, he was so cool when he just gently took my hands into his, looked into my eyes and calmly said "To me, you are." Sigh, my heart is melting. Au revoir, cruel yet beautiful world! "Cough, cough, cough. Do you guys want to eat your food cold?" Mother-in-Law''s deliberate coughing broke our pink world, and in a panic, I tried to return to the previous subject, "S-so, when are you gonna do it, Tori-kun?" "Aah, well, the drawing is done, so I thought that we could bring her to life this afternoon? If you''re okay with it, of course." "Obviously! I can''t wait, after today, not only am I going to have a little sister, I''m also going to have another one of my kind here with me!" I beamed a brilliant smile at my dearest boyfriend and creator, Tori-kun. Really, a 2D Girl''s life in a four dimensional world is truly full of exciting days. 5. ??? It had been yet another busy day for the Sacred Entity charged by the Earthly Gods to act as a diplomat and messenger of the Otherworldly Gods, helping the latter in making successful contact with the Primitive Beings of Earth, while pleasing the former for taking this menial task away from them. Today It had met with an all-time high number of Primitive Beings to send over to the Otherworldly Gods, a grand total of eight lucky people. Now, while it might not seem like a high number, if you considered that after each encounter It had to quickly change location and Its appearance so as to not alarm the remaining Primitive Beings, and also took in consideration that, while It Itself worked for the Gods, It wasn¡¯t an actual God yet, but just a simple embryo born out of folklore, legends and recent strong belief, you would instead congratulate this hard-working Divine Messenger. Of those eight, five, the majority, were Japanese. This trend wasn¡¯t anything new, and the Earthly Gods didn¡¯t concern themselves too much with this matter, unless they had already some favoured Primitive Being that they had picked. If you asked the Sacred Entity why It would pick Japanese people most of the time, essentially favouring them, It would answer you by simply explaining that Japan was Its Homeland, where Its embryonic form initially started taking shape. It wanted to pay them back with these great opportunities It could bring them while keeping in line with what the Otherworldly Gods requested of It. Nepotism, basically. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. Today though was both peculiar and exciting for the Divine Messenger; as It admired Its strengthened body, It could feel the Primitive Beings¡¯ belief of Its existence similarly grow to new heights. All this, It had noticed on Its own, but what It hadn¡¯t had yet noticed before what took place today was why: myths, conjectures, hypothesis and more about Its existence were being spread around the ¡°Web¡± (as some of the Primitive Beings called it) through various forums and sites, telling the people who hadn¡¯t met It yet about Its Job of escorting the Primitive Beings to the Otherworldly Gods, which led It to believe that some people surely had managed to Return after their adventure had ended or they had become strong enough to have no need of Divine Messengers to help them Cross Over to a Different World. With a smile on Its front, Truck-kun prepared Itself for yet another day as the Divine Messenger of Earth. 6. Lloyd Chapter 1 [Acquired the skill ¡ºClean Body¡»] Lloyd silently stared at the system message in front of his eyes for a few seconds, before smirking. He looked down on the blue window with ridiculing eyes and then proceeded to dismiss this seemingly ¡°useless skill.¡± ¡®Heh. Stupid system, I am the protagonist! It is mighty obvious that in the very next chapter, this trash skill is gonna come into play at a very crucial time!¡¯ It wasn¡¯t.
Chapter 2020 Lloyd coughed up a mouthful of blood, his gaze conveying his shock. ¡®Kuh! Who would¡¯ve known that there would be a sudden time skip of over 156 years?! My life energy is about to be extinguished, I need to quickly think of a solution!¡¯ Hours passed in a blink and barely a fraction of a second was left to Lloyd, if he couldn¡¯t find a way to increase his life energy, which sustained his life, he would die an eternal death. While Lloyd continued to squeeze his brain dry, he thought again of that time when his life energy was flourishing and he could time skip as he pleased, but now he couldn¡¯t time skip the problem, because his life energy was almost empty, thus using his innate protagonist skills would kill him dead. For good. Again. ¡¯Sigh, if only...¡¯
Chapter 3007 ¡®Sigh, if only I had a way to quickly recover my life energy...¡¯Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! Recovering one¡¯s life energy was impossible because life energy was an individual¡¯s life energy, signifying his very own life, and once spent, life energy couldn¡¯t be taken back. Life energy was just like spilled milk, only someone with similar intelligence to Lloyd would try and lick it up anyway. ¡®That¡¯s right! I would do it! It¡¯s milk, you know? Milk! ... But wait, spilled? A dirty and unclean surface... Ah!¡¯ Lloyd slapped his forehead, consuming his infinitely finite life force that was dwindling and wasting a few seconds of the fraction of a second he had left to stare in wonder at his own intellect and ideas, because he was certain that, as the protagonist, no matter how much time he wasted, he wouldn¡¯t really die, he had checked the story¡¯s tags beforehand! ¡®Fufufu, would you look at that! Even though a time skip of 42 trillions of years happened, in reality, only a chapter has passed by! Heh, who would¡¯ve thought that that garbage skill that I had acquired before and had completely forgotten about, could be used to save my life at this moment of life and death?¡¯ And then Lloyd activated the skill ¡ºClean Body¡»and an impossible thing happened, something that had never occurred before in the history of this world: he started recovering his life energy! This was really incredible because once life energy was used, it couldn¡¯t be recovered, this was common sense, but he did the impossible by recovering his used up life energy! It was truly a magnificent scene of an old, decrepit man sitting alone in a dark cave in one second and the next, a slightly younger but still old and decrepit man still sat meditating in that same cold and dark cave! ¡®Heheh, this is just the start, once I recover all 29 billions of millions of thousands of years of life energy used in the previous time skip, I¡¯ll be able to abuse this skill infinitely as there are no penalties, conditions or cooldowns!¡¯ Unfortunately for Lloyd, the author forgot about this skill the very next day (or maybe some readers left some harsh comments and they decided to act as if nothing happened), and he could only sigh and accept it, considering he had already gotten used to it after the transition from the prologue to the first chapter, as the author forgot about Lloyd¡¯s childhood friend, teacher, fellow disciples, parents, some kind uncles and aunts, some other family members, a friend here and there, Lloyd¡¯s last name, the rival, the antagonist, the hidden sexy helper, the system, logic, Gundam VI, the world setting, hopes and dreams, justice, the talking cat in a strange colour, the reason behind this long list of this uncountable countable things, a proper ending... 7. Aurora Finally being given a moment of respite, Aurora sat down by the side of the mildly spacious dirt road which she had been following for the past month or so. The smell of kobold blood still seemed to linger around her, even though she had walked quite the distance from their remains. Sighing, she started checking her clothes in a lethargic way, not really wanting to do more work and simply relax for a time, but nonetheless the desire to be free of this small hindrance proved stronger than her usual lazy ways. First to be checked was her white silk veil she kept over her head and shoulder-length brown hair, held in place by an ornate (but not ostentatious) iron circlet, meant to help keep both the sun and dirt away. Then came the turn of the long, hooded cape made out of linen which she wore over her small shoulders; while at first glance it may have seemed unfit for the season, given the high temperatures, the cape actually came with the standard enchantments the knights¡¯ mantles received (plus some more niche ones), meaning that come sun or rain, Aurora would always feel comfortable under its embrace. That said, its dark red colour certainly wasn¡¯t of any help when one was searching for smears of pretty much the same shade. After that came her dark brown leather boots, reinforced with wood and iron; her well-worn white woolen stockings, one of the hand-me-downs from her older brother; and lastly was the linen long gown of a lighter tint of brown, modestly covering her body while also showing a bit more collarbone (which was effectively covered by the cape). The rest of Aurora¡¯s petite body hit the ground as soon as she confirmed that no drop of monster blood had stained her travel clothes, not even bothering to retrieve any amenities from her Hidden Casket. Looking up at the serene blue sky, with but a scant few clouds here and there, the young lady couldn¡¯t help but wonder once again about the sheer genius, and in equal measure absurdity, of the ¡°Hidden Casket¡¯s¡± properties: it was, essentially, a receptacle of varying degree of sizes, mostly dependant on the caster¡¯s strength and aptitude for magic, but visible and accessible only by its owner; and if that wasn¡¯t enough to win people over, many more qualities had been uncovered since its spread throughout all of the kingdom, from lowly peasants to high nobility: it always remained by its owner¡¯s side as if it was a sentient creature, much like what a trained dog or wolf would do; the weight of the items placed inside mattered not, a discovery so mind boggling that caused many to almost go mad, constantly wondering how could such a thing be; lastly is what many, Aurora included, exalt as the most marvelous property: the passing of time did not affect the objects kept inside the Hidden Casket. This spellcraft had been discovered by none other than a small village of the kingdom, found near no other particular points of interest. The very same borough she could spot a day or so¡¯s walk away from her current position. Lately, many high-ranking nobles had started paying close attention to the hamlet, for the clear and plain reason that all of the new, revolutionary discoveries from the last couple of years seemed to pop up one after the other from there. Aurora¡¯s superior had thus received orders from the higher ups to send someone to thoroughly investigate the situation, an arrangement which ultimately fell on her. Being the best inquisitor in the kingdom does have its pros and cons. Of concern was that besides useful but fundamentally harmless spellcraft, like ¡°Clean,¡± ¡°Heal¡± or ¡°Focus,¡± the village had also given birth to various kinds of differently-tasteful magic like ¡°Torture,¡± ¡°Control¡± and ¡°Show Memories¡± amongst others. That is to say, Aurora had to leave a written will before departure, and, if she hadn¡¯t been under one already, she would¡¯ve also been forced to swear an Oath of secrecy. Putting aside the more mystical part of all this, the small commune had also proliferated varied types of artefacts: a ¡°pump,¡± useful for dredging up water; varying sorts of alloys; the ¡°crossbow,¡± a peculiar kind of bow that enables even the weakest of men to shoot powerful arrows with a certain manner of ease and speed; an assortment of collectables and toys, like stuffed dolls and ¡°Peeveesee¡± dolls; they have, apparently, also circulated around the wealthier towns plans for building a ¡°clock¡± tower, which is supposed to be an elaborate tool that would ring the town¡¯s bells without any aid, human or otherwise. Furthermore, they tried to popularize a set of undergarments for women, but they didn¡¯t receive much success: women of lower caste did not find the expenditure required for the flimsy clothes to be necessary, and thus disregarded them; women of high status, after the Queen Regent made clear her distaste, stayed away from the garments as if scared of catching a deadly sickness; the middle class mostly followed one of the previously stated courses of actions, or were just indifferent to the matter altogether. As for Aurora herself, what had been labeled as ¡°brassiere¡± simply held no purpose considering her meager breasts, while the ¡°knickers,¡± having tried a few, all felt quite restrictive and had thus been discarded. Of course, the common norm that a woman shouldn¡¯t be wearing anything between her legs also played a part in Aurora and many other women¡¯s dismissal of said article of clothing. The sound of her own grumbling stomach brought the petite inquisitor out of her train of thoughts. Leaving the ¡°comfort¡± of the ground behind with a sad and reluctant face, Aurora started walking down the road once again as she brought out some dried meat from her Hidden Casket, which she promptly munched on. With the moon peeking out in the horizon as a backdrop, the young woman at long last arrived at her destination. To tell the truth, she had expected more out of a village currently at the center of the attention of many keen officials and businessmen. No walls had been erected to protect the weaker inhabitants, just a small wooden fence was all that delimited the confines of the borough; as could by now be expected, no gates blocked the entrance to the hamlet, leaving it wide open for people and monsters alike. There was only one middle-aged garrison stationed at the entrance, one that was currently fast asleep inside a makeshift wooden booth uncannily similar to those pit latrine outrooms. The juvenile lady decided to camp outside for the night, not wanting to risk being caught sneaking around at night when she was still no more than a stranger in the residents¡¯ eyes. As always, Aurora found the sun rose faster than she would¡¯ve liked. Sounds of activity wormed their way into her ears too, forcing her to finally get up and start working. Having replaced her camisole back with her gown, she proceeded to fold her stuff and put it back in her Hidden Casket. Meanwhile, the guard, who had been replaced by an older one, looked at her with a pensive scrutiny without trying to hide it. It wasn¡¯t like a nubile young woman like her came by their village everyday, her clothes indicated she wasn¡¯t one to worry about food and, once she adorned her cape, such conviction was solidified even more. As a symbol of status in their kingdom, the commoners and nobility alike strived to keep in mind the motifs and colours that usually adorned the cloaks; in this case a red cape pointed to a high-rank officer, while the black, stylised scale of justice decoration represented the Inquisition, a group of regulators under direct administration of the Minister of Internal Affairs, tasked with examining high-profile situations (in most cases, they¡¯re kidnappings, murders, slavery and so on). Anyway, inquisitors could do no more than that, it was their superior¡¯s other subordinates, the Court of Justice, that would decide the proper actions to take for each case, and ultimately it fell on the Minister of Defense¡¯s Knights¡¯ Order to enact said measures. The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. The old man kept an eye on the unknown woman as he greeted the passing farmhands, mostly humans with a few beastmen mixed in-between. Curious glances were thrown her way, but nothing more than that took place out of their wariness, both because she was a stranger and she was a noble, or so they thought. Aurora¡¯s family held no hereditary noble title, but with her ancestors having a few military accomplishments and some others instead making good investments, her family could be placed among the wealthier households of the middle class. Of course, given her current prestige and position, she had been granted the rank of Viscountess, but, as stated at the beginning, it wasn¡¯t hereditary and was instead more of an honorary title for talented and hard-working commoners. Done packing up, the inquisitor approached the guard, asking to be escorted to the village chief, which turned out to be the man¡¯s own grandson, one not even old enough to have started growing some hair. Her own misgivings, which she barely suppressed as denoted by her twitching eye, were soon alleviated once the introductions started. The chief, who named himself Ethan, fluently guided their conversation most of the time, forcing Aurora to interrupt him time and again. Pleasantries aside, the boy proved to be quite slippery when asked to answer the real, most important questions: information on exactly what spell and tools originated from this village, who developed them, why, how and for what purpose did they release such knowledge to everyone, completely free of charge? Even though the youngster proved to be mature beyond his age, the lady officer had become the best the Inquisition had to offer by using her sharp mind and silver tongue, so by nightfall the two were already discussing the details of these supposed ¡®prophetic dreams¡¯ some of the village youth were experiencing, him included. To be more accurate, it wasn¡¯t that prophetic dreams didn¡¯t exist, but that they came to be only when one had particular levels of affinities toward the various and faceted elements known as a whole as Fate: Chance, also called Luck or Karma, denotes the possibility of something happening, relatively based on one¡¯s past actions; Heritage, which does not actually refer to one¡¯s ancestors, but to the soul and its past lives, thus initially shaping Chance; Astral Influence, or simply Influence, is the ability of the soul to change the destiny of oneself and others; Destiny, the rough direction toward an unknown goal one is guided to, heavily influenced by Chance and Influence; and lastly Nemesis, the inescapable agent of Death that can only be delayed but never stopped. The names themselves may be wrongly used as synonyms of one another, Fate included, by the common man, but most of those of peerage, especially the ones that interacted with the clergy, wouldn¡¯t make such a mistake. Neither would those attuned and trained in them like Aurora. She could indeed feel that Ethan had a vastly substantial Influence, meaning that the strength of his soul, derived by the Heritage of his past lives¡¯ feats, was nothing to scoff at. But that was it. He had no propensity toward wielding any of the elements of Fate, so no amount of chattering would convince the woman of his words, they only made her more cautious, assuring her something was afoot. At this point they were interrupted by the village head¡¯s mother, prompting them to have dinner, and thus the inquisitor decided to postpone further questioning to the next day. She wasn¡¯t in a hurry. At the dead of night, the inquisitor could feel the muted steps of the boy as he left the house, probably to update the other youths on the proceedings of her investigation, and, once again, she decided to not venture out at night; she knew to believe her intuition, which was, in a manner unknown to her, somehow connected to the inner workings of Fate. Tooru could only click his tongue in frustration as he recounted to the five before him, one of which was shackled and gagged, of his dealings with the noble lady that had visited their base. He knew he hadn¡¯t been able to distract her, to convince her that there was nothing peculiar in a remote village suddenly popping out genius after genius, he knew¡ that not even his max-ranked skill, Persuasion, had worked on her. Of course, he only tried to subtly use it at key moments and didn¡¯t try a frontal, full-on approach, but her intimidating aura seemed almost like it was taunting him, daring him to go a step further if he didn¡¯t fear the consequences. Angering the powers that be, especially in the country their families resided, didn¡¯t seem like a fitting next step in their plans to live undisturbed. Moreover, there were also those that, like him, planned to stay here during the latter half of their lives, it wouldn¡¯t be so easy if wanted posters showing their faces were going around the kingdom. Their vexation stemmed from their own mistake: they had underestimated the people of this world, and so, thinking they wouldn¡¯t be found out, they started releasing bits and pieces of the knowledge they accumulated in their past lives; they spread general know-how to increase the liveability of this country, their unique comprehension of magic stemming from various media so that they wouldn¡¯t appear so abnormal if they used it in public, and lastly was their expertise in science and technology to advance this seemingly stagnant medieval-like era they¡¯ve ended up in. On top of that, it had now become impossible to delay their decision any longer: what should they do with their wayward compatriot? The rest of the village already thought her gone, having fled the hamlet in search of a less boring life, and no one bothered to search for such a twisted individual. Yui¡¯s attraction for the macabre and other less than appealing aspects of life (or lack thereof) proved to be impulses she just seemed to be unable to control in this world, possibly because of a lack of an attachment to it. Considering what she had already done, the fact that she was still alive was a testament to the remaining five¡¯s mentality, seemingly too used to their previous peaceful lives. They also couldn¡¯t simply let her go and risk having her revealing their information and causing even more irreparable damage. They knew about Oaths but, first of all, they didn¡¯t believe she¡¯d agree to one, and secondly, they were too scared to release her gag, too scared of the possibility that she¡¯d try to get free again using her perverse magic, and this time succeed. The discussion kept going in circles, just like the time kept moving forward, and soon dawn approached. Having concluded that sooner or later the young woman at his house would force him to let her meet the others, Tooru decided to guide her to his family¡¯s barn, so that they could all be present without alerting the villagers of Yui still being here. At this point, they could only rely on the inquisitor¡¯s conscience and hope they wouldn¡¯t have to fight to escape a life of slavery as dispensers of otherworldly knowledge. Needless to say, Aurora felt a bit smug while observing the shocked face of the men and women, at least in mental age, in front of her. This all stemmed from their lack of information about the existence of Fate and its inner workings, much less that there was magic to go along with it. Their explanation of how they had somehow retained the memories of their past lives mashed well with what she could feel through her magic, explaining why people so young would have the Influence to change the Destiny of so many people. Except the one called Yui. As soon as she saw her, Aurora felt a chill run down her spine, but had decided to wait until the group¡¯s explanation was over before moving to investigate the corpse. They had been flustered and shocked once she told them so. Sure, she was pallid and glassy-eyed, but she had always been like so in their memories, they couldn¡¯t fathom how and when she could¡¯ve died. The young lady could, instead, though the knowledge she acquired from the Reincarnators through their chat was key. The Deviant had clearly been experimenting at first, and her discoveries had led to her having a certain mastery over the soul, as evidenced by the thread of Fate (something she had never seen, nor heard of before) that connected the cadaver with something else in the distance, clearly too far to be seen with the naked eye. The dead body was but a doll maneuvered by a puppeteer, one that didn¡¯t have any qualms to discard even their own flesh and blood if it was what it took to achieve that which they desired. The carcass¡¯ mouth had already split open a while ago, going beyond the limit of the flesh to display its owner¡¯s delight with a warped smile that reached the ears. Clearly, not only could the individual known as Yui control dead corpses (or at least her own), but she could also receive information from it too. After that, Aurora saw the thin strip of energy detach itself and retread in a blink of an eye, but just to be sure, she and the others brought the corpse outside the borough, in a nearby forest, and at here behest set it aflame with magic, making sure that not even the bones remained. Back at the hamlet, Ethan and the others made their preparations and said their goodbyes since they would be following the inquisitor back to the capital. They left in all haste as a tabby cat watched them disappear from the horizon before falling to the ground as if it was a marionette whose strings had been cut. And so it would be that, many decades later, those same youths from a remote village would be known as the First Heroes, while their fellow countrywoman continued to accrue infamy till the point she came to be called the First Demon Queen, Originator of all Soul magic. 9. Sorry, you¡¯re right, I was so panicked that I just wanted to post something as soon as possible. I guess I should start by saying that I was a freshly grad student on my way home from a job interview. That day I hadn''t slept much as I had been busy exorcising the millions of spirits trapped in my lower body, so I wasn''t paying particular attention to where I was going. That''s why it''s unfair of that God-guy to blame me for having run over some random Riajuu with a truck I borrowed a few moments prior to that. (TL¡¯s Note: Chadwick Qarax Riajuu, 14/03/XXXX-27/10/XXXX, a man of the famous dynasty of casanovas) It''s utter nonsense to be banished from my home-world just for such a small slip-up. He even started saying something about how I had to take the place of the guy I offed, having to become a hero in a different world while also using the damned Riajuu''s blessing, which apparently got a bit twisted because of his unexpected death.

Since I appeared inside a town, I decided to explore it and see what it had to offer. Lo and behold, there was an Adventurers¡¯ Guild hanging around near the plaza. Truly a standard template. Anyway, I decided to sign up so I could get some documents and a way to get money, which I needed as I planned to book a room at an inn. Not really one for camping beneath the starry sky. I gotta say the receptionist was a bit rude, he kept cutting me off, saying something like ¡°You¡¯re talking too much!¡± but that¡¯s like, totally not true.

The only one I had was the ability I received half a day before: whoever/whatever I defeat transforms into a girl that will promptly join my harem. At first, when the God-guy was explaining the ability to me, I was like, ¡°Oh, I know that one! It¡¯s kinda like in mangas and such where, when the protagonist defeats a masked individual or a strong monster, many a time it turns out that it was a girl all along¡±

But then, after surviving the voyage in the spatial rift the God-guy tossed me in, just as I thought ¡°Phew, I thought I would have never survived that, that pressure seemed to want to make a new kind of pancake with me as the main ingredient.¡± The rift froze up for a while before starting to shine and its shape starting to change. As alarms went off in my head, I really wanted to scream ¡°WHY DOES ''SURVIVING'' COUNT TOO?¡±

As Rift-chan finished materializing, another bright light simultaneously appeared behind me. It was at that point that I remember landing on some trash as I exited the portal, completely crushing it. I had decided to stay completely still for the time, since I thought that if I didn¡¯t move, I wouldn¡¯t be able to ¡°defeat¡± anything. How naive I was. My whole body lit up and at that point I believed it was now my turn for magical girl-like transformation, but my expectations were completely blown away: the God-guy told me he had cleaned up and strengthened my body, so that¡¯s probably why, while all the germs (bacteria, viruses, etc.) and harmful substances from the environment were being promptly neutralized by my immune system. The back alley I popped up in became crowded in a flash. The only thing I¡¯m glad for is that it seemed that ¡°duplicates¡± weren¡¯t a thing, so only the first ¡°enemy¡± of its kind would become a girl and join my ever-growing harem. As they all acclimatized themselves to their bodies, they also started to gaze at me, all with their own emotions. (TL¡¯s Note: what was actually going on in the harem¡¯s collective mind at the time: *incoherent harem-gasm thoughts about OP-kun*) I didn¡¯t really know how to deal with it all, so I opted to ¡°stroll around the town¡± to get away from the situation. Of course they all followed me...
