But this time, i see a glimmer of hope... flash back, first login, first guardian Warning: this Re:Rebirth Online is the same story with the original Rebirth Online but I will make it more systematically without other character POV gets in the way... This story POV will be based on Kuro and it will progress faster since it revolves only around him... After seeing the advertisment of a new game called Rebirth Online, I decided to run away from reality to that world... I don''t have any good memories about my life so far... With average looks, average academic ability, with no selling points, I basically just going trough my life taking the easy and peace route.. My childhood friend starts to turn back on me since I was getting bullied... My highschool life should be peaceful as usual except when the bullied starts, my life grade drops from average to trash... I don''t think that someone will still care about me anymore, but surprisingly I also have some good memories with girls... Altough I said it some, I only have one... That day afterschool I was lucky that I have some class duty so I can dodge the daily bully routine... I notice that the clock is dead and decided to go grab some batteries to replace it... But when i was just about to exit the class i saw a girl coming in to the class.. The beautiful sunset, gust of wind passing trough the windows, and I''m alone in the class with a girl... I sleep in front of the FFAID building to be the first one in line along with several hundreds people... I quickly took a peek at the manual book and after read it all, i get some basics of the game.. Looking at the clock 10:59am.. One minutes before the server is open, great.... I quickly put on my helmet and lay down my bed... When the clock hits 11:00 the view in front of me sudenlly changed... (to make this part shorter, you guys can check the first time login for players in the original story and the manual book in the extra login of the first book, it is one ways to make the story progress faster) I create my character and name it Kuro... Just like my original name Kuromaru Ryuuji, meaning black dragon... My parents hope me to become strong like dragon (Ryuu) but what actually stuck with me is the darkness (kuro=black) living in the deep despair i think.. I didn''t alter my appearance and choose thief as my class.. I have confidence in silent assasination since my exsitence in real life almost like air, they wouldn''t even notice me... Finally starting the game at the opening day, makes it hectic... 500.000players logged in and I''m in the middle of ocean made by group of people... There are advantages playing in games... Firstly you can change your character appareance to be what you always wanted to be, but people strongly attached to the second reason... You can act like a different person in real life... Many people that seemed to be nerdy and shy can act like a leader in game and showing a massive amount of confidence... But I can''t do that very well though... My interaction with other people is only with my childhood friend and now he''s gone I can say that I never interact with others except my mother and father... Taking the past events of me getting bullied, I don''t think I will partying up with other players in a near future.. I seemed to be lost hope in humanity but I still believe that there are still good people out there.. Just because one person did wrong doesn''t mean everybody is wrong... While walking around the town, I realized this virtual reality world is so real.. I can sense everything just like in the real world... The gust of wind, the warmth of the sun setting in, I feel like I''m reborn in a new world, taking place in the medieval setting with worlds of sword and magic... Party invites keep coming around and I always declined every time, after all I''m going trough, I don''t want to interact with other people, I still have a trauma... I remember when I read the manual book earlier, Rebirth Online providing a guardian system where a player can hire a NPC as companion or party member... Trusting player is not safe, and trusting the NPC seems like a wise choice for me.. After all they are all just a bunch of data that act as how they are programmed.. No risk that they will take advantage of me, or betray me, or even PK me in the future... Remembering that, I quickly heads to a place called guardian quarter.. When I get to the guardian headquarters, I¡¯m shocked to see that the place is empty. But after all, other people probably just going to hunt with their friend. What kind of person that¡¯s going to spend their first day playing online games, hunting with a NPC when there are hundred thousands of player out there. Well, this kind of person. Me... I was heading to the administration desk and greeted by a polite woman in glasses and wear a maid outfit. She bows down a little and speaks to me. ¡°Welcome player to the guardian headquarters. Would you like to hire a guardian?¡± ¡°Y-yes.¡± I¡¯m so amazed to see the NPC in front of me. I stutter a little when answering. After all I¡¯m not used to talk to girl. If I remember it clearly, I even never talked to a girl before. But, I think I can recall from my memory there is two occasions when I talk to a girl. The first time is when I save her when she fall, and the second time is the day after she save me from bullying. I guess I won¡¯t even get the chance to talk to her again then. I just hope that this one looked more normal. The name of this guardian is Sakuya. Current class: caster (supportive). Advanced class: cleric (level 50- still have to do regular job change quest). Traits: none (can be learned from regular activities) Fondness: 0% (higher points will determine the guardian loyalty). But after a few hours I can move my body normally and I can hunt pretty well. Aided by Sakuya, my hunting regime is progressing smoothly. Just when I was too focused in killing the enemy, a frozen bird attacks Sakuya. She managed to dodge but her foot is bleeding. When she was attacked, I¡¯m sure that I can see her reaction. It should be really painful. I quickly came to cover for her and after we finished eliminating the enemy I think it¡¯s about a good time to stop. I was concerned about the wounds on her feet. ¡°Are you okay Sakuya?¡± ¡°Yes master. It¡¯s only a little grazed.¡± ¡°Does it hurt?¡± ¡°Yes master. Player sensitivity is reduced; it¡¯s only 1/20th of the actual pain. But a NPC get the actual painful feeling from attacks. So the game maker thinks that a NPC is just something that can be replaced easily when they died huh? Basically they will load another data of the NPC rather than trying to preserve the current one. She had some trouble walking from the damage she taken earlier. When we arrived, the hunger level on my bottom right windows is reaching 20%. No wonder I feel so hungry now. I guess I¡¯ll log off and eat for now. ¡°I guess I¡¯m going to log off and eat now. What are you going to do Sakuya?¡± ¡°I¡¯m going to wait here until you¡¯re logged back in master. It really put me at ease knowing that someone is watching your back. I was hoping that our hunting days can continue. It¡¯s one of the happiest moments in my life. But, it was all just my own delusion. One by one they started to show their true color. Lime and Greenhorn monopolize the drop that we get. Although we already agreed that it would be evenly distributed, I can¡¯t say anything. Orin too has been secretly whispering me, asking what we should do. Sakuya is still silent and do nothing she only shows a little painful expression when her neck is wounded. I was yelling as hard as I can and tried to get past Greenhorn. ¡°Stop it Lime. Damn you Greenhorn. Sakuya, what happened to you? Why you¡¯re just standing there and do nothing?¡± ¡°Huahahaha... stop struggling little master. Can¡¯t you see that she is enjoying this? I calmly take out my dagger and I stab Greenhorn in the heart. I easily go past him because his movements are too slow right now. I quickly cut Lime¡¯s neck and I hug Sakuya after that. The clock seemed to be moving again and that moments passed away in an instant. Greenhorn and Lime quickly disappear into a glowing dust. I keep hugging Sakuya and her tears keep falling down and she¡¯s now crying. ¡°Hick...hick... m-master... I¡¯m sorry...¡± I patted her head slowly and whispered to her ear. ¡°Don¡¯t worry. After the previous incident, i started to hunt like crazy. I desire more power to protect Sakuya. After a few days hunting I finally find the most effective way. Hit the enemny in their vital points to inflict critical and keep hitting in the same spot to increase the damage everytime. At first I found this really hard to do, but the motivation that is sourcing from anger deep inside my heart keep pushing me further my limits. My skill set and status is now mainly focusing on solo hunt build. Sakuya as supportive caster now have all of her skill as buff. So she will cast her spell on me which increase various stats.. I also have her take some cooking skill that will further increase stats and a dancer skill that can be combined with the bard skill which i will take.. As the results, my stat rose about 1.5x the usual.. The hunt starts wiyh my stats buffed and then i quickly dash and killed the enemy as fast as possible.. But i never again able to experience the feeling from before where the surrounding stops when I was facing Lime and greenhorn.. Within a month the game released, I am the first player reaching the advanced class followed with Sakuya. To further show my strength, I also completed the monthly events three times in a row... The first monthly event is to kill a level 62 black dragon. It is considered easy since my level is already 50, with the buff I am actually at level 75. The reward however is really important for me to protect sakuya. It was the ring of endurance. The ring of endurance has an effect of enabling the player to withstand deadly blow. Even if their health bar only shows 10 left and they are attacked by 50 attack point, he or she won¡¯t be killed, they will still have 1 hit points remaining. The second events is to find a red angered rat and actually catch it. For that event the sewer dungeon is filled with thousand of players and millions of angered rats. But, it¡¯s too hard to find one red angered rat among that many. While at my level, a simple blow will kill them, it is actually hard to not accidentally kill the red angered rat. What worse is the feeling of little animals roaming all over your body. But my patience born from anger can withstand them all and I actually managed to finish it once again. The reward is necklace of obedience. The necklace of obedience allows the user to teleport to their re-spawn point once a day, no matter where they are with 0 cast time. It will come in handy when sakuya gets cornered she can just run away. The third event is to collect a cactus flower from the great cactus tree at desserts storm field, although we didn¡¯t participate because of the incident. It seemed easy at first, but in reality it is hard to see in the dessert, especially if there is a sand storm. Thousand of players explore the dessert storm field. It¡¯s a pretty high level area; level 45 armored scorpion monsters appeared there. Some of the players just ignore the monster and retries again if they died. After all, the mission is to find the flower. Luckily I have once found a strange big cactus in the middle of the desserts when leveling up. The reward is mantle of regeneration. It doubles your regeneration rate and allows you to regenerate in the battle. Once again I gave the item to Sakuya. After that I did some small quest with Sakuya, I even arranged a small stage to perform for sakuya as a reward which she forcefully asked me. There are also some duels against players that is trying to hit on her. I also managed to win the fourth monthly events which is mainly PvP in town. The reward is the circlet of midnight. The circlet of midnight effect is to block enemy skill once every 10 minutes. But the next monthly events is the one that turn my whole world around. ***** When the even starts, it is taking the wrong turn... For some reasons, the three wyverns from the events all start aiming at you... ..... ... .. I can only look at that scene... The scene where you are beaten by those wyverns... I can¡¯t move my body right now because my leg has been bitten by one of the wyverns. I can only clench my fist as I hear you writhing in pain. It must be really painful... But, why are you keep looking at me? I couldn¡¯t stand it... Tears start to come out from your eyes... You¡¯re also making a smile... Why..? But, why is your blood falling down from the sky like a rain? Why..? I mustered up all of my energy to stand up. I can still walk a little bit even though I¡¯m dragging one of my legs. But, why do I start to cry? My mind doesn¡¯t think that you have died. But, why is my heart saying the opposite? Aaah... I get it... I''m blocking the wyvern claw using my katar. I manage to stop the attack. When the other wyvern sees that, they let out a roar. I shake off the claw to the right and climbed it. It couldn¡¯t be called climbing in fact, because I''m actually running on top of the wyvern. I''m heading toward its head. Noticing me coming, the wyvern then moves his mouth trying to bite me. I guess I have no other choice. I curl my body up and jumped directly into the wyvern¡¯s mouth. After i few moments I realized I was at the wyvern''s throat, I thrust my right hand to the wall in front of me, and my left hand to the other side. After that my hand was moving in a circular motion around the neck. The movement slowly gets faster until its moving fast enough like a propeller. Unleashing one of assassin¡¯s skills, the moon slash. The wyvern stands still and not moving. The head suddenly falls down severed from its neck. From inside I am alive and covered in blood. The neck following the head starts to fall to the ground. It¡¯s massive body causing a small earthquake when it falls. After that, without any other delay, I move out heading to the other wyverns. Facing two wyverns at the same time seemed to be impossible. To kill 7 wyverns, 49.970 players have fallen as a victim. One of the wyverns is unleashing a skill again. The water that¡¯s coming out from its mouth easily dodged by me, but some remaining player get hit and died. The other wyvern follows up the attack after he notices that I am still alive. It whips his spiked tail towards me. I jump to avoid the tail whip and landed on top of it. I repeat the same pattern, trying to run from the tail towards the head. The wyvern is surprised and trying to shake me off. But, I managed to reach the wyvern¡¯s neck. The wyvern now looked panic and starts to flapping his wing. The wyvern is trying to fly to escape from me. When the wyvern starts to take off, I throws one of my arm around the neck to hold on. Using my other free arm, I start to stab the wyvern. When I has landed the first stab, the wyverns didn¡¯t show a lot of reaction. Then i pull back my katar, and stab the wyvern¡¯s neck again in the same location. This time the wyvern is growling a little. I keep om repeating the same pattern. Pull back my katar, and stabs it again. After a few attacks, the wound get bigger and now the wyvern is howling in pain. The wyvern dive towards the ground and turned his body. He is trying to land on his back to crushed me. A few second just before we¡¯re going to crashed to the ground, I locked my leg to the wyvern¡¯s neck and letting go of my other hand. I positioned myself on top of it as if I was sitting on top of the wyvern. I raise my katar and crosses it on top of my head. Unleashing one of my skills, the cross slash. I directed the attack to the hole from my stab earlier. I forces it to rip open and creating enough space for me to get in. If I want to survive from this fall, this is something that I have to do. I then jump inside the wyvern¡¯s body to protect me from the falling impact. Slam... the wyverns crashed on to the ground. The wyvern is still alive and it¡¯s now trying to move his body. But, before it could stand up, I thrust the body from where I hide to neutralize the falling impact. I move my hands down slowly to the stomach area, and keep on moving. After it reaches the bottom part, it goes back to where it comes from. It reaches the starting point and it disappears. The wyvern is growling once again and I forcefully tried to split it open. My hands grabbing on to the fresh flesh of the wyvern stomach and pushing it wide. My battle isn''t over yet, I still has to face the last wyvern. The last wyvern is not moving from his place while he watched the battle earlier. It is calmly analyzing the situation. He recognized me as his enemy and trying to figure out the best way to kill me. We just staring at each other eyes without moving an inch. They know one mistake we make will be the end of our life. I am the one to make the first move, moving fast towards the wyvern. The wyvern then baring it fangs and let out a massive sound. But, I''m not wavering a little bit, I keep running forward. I leap while thrusting my katar, pointing at the wyvern¡¯s head. It is all happened so fast. The wyvern then stopped moving as if he was turned into a stone. My right arm is now located deep between the wyvern¡¯s eye. I pierces the wyvern¡¯s skull and damaging the brain. After that I pull my hands out and immediately looking for Sakuya. Sakuya¡¯s condition is now something that you wouldn¡¯t want to imagine. Her body is crushed and now is in a bad shape. I am now crying seeing her body covered in blood and can no longer be recognized. ¡°Why..?¡± Around twenty players that survived, has now regained some health. After a couple more minutes, the blue light that is enveloping Sakuya¡¯s body has vanished. You can see that her wounds are completely healed. After that, I quickly come forward to hold Sakuya in my arms once again. ¡°So, how is it Genki? Aaron tell me before that he will try his best to prevent me from dying yet what he send forth is a powerful monster above level 100. Furthermore it¡¯s a monster that I know nothing about. The blood dragon then leaps to me and swinging his sword. It is so agile and makes me shocked. I managed to dodge the swing but the blood dragon¡¯s attack continues. It slashing the sword again and this time I nearly miss to dodge it. The tip of the sword managed to graze my arm. ¡°Uuaaarrrgghhh....¡± I''m now screaming in pain. The wound on my arm is not that bad but it stings and hurt so much. It¡¯s bad... I never think that it will hurt¡¯s so much... what¡¯s wrong with this monster? It¡¯s too strong... Tch... I listened to the story which leaving me in disbelieve later on. 5th login - the real truth (nearing the end) 5th login - the real truth After I escaped the dire situation, Aaron told me to rest for the remaining day. Taking that in consideration, I asked him to let me get out from the facility and roam in the far east continent. Easily enough he let me go because I also explained him my reason. "the condition here is not like in the real rebirth online, I think by playing in the natural environment will let me apply my skill better." All along the way, snow introduced herself as yuki, Sakaki daughter. Even tough I never met with him but I heard about the story. The story about a man trying to save his daughter. She explained to me about the truth behind aaron action that is trying to make a super soldier and I was his number one lab rat. She also explained the truth at how sakuya is a little bit different from any other NPC. It is hard for me to accept it, but we''re here talking about the value of a human life and a big lump of data. She also explained that there''s a character that managed to reach overdrive state like me called Lime. I remember Lime and she also knows that I have a bad encouter with Lime. Unfortunatelly she found dying in her room after the overdrive state causing her brain to be burned into a crisp. She also gives me a warning to never jump into that state again. The first time I jumpes in my brain almost explode resulting in me.having a noseblees, we never know what may happen in the future. Then she will run into the Syder that i was using and i will need to put her real body into the same syder. Luckily i know where they keep her real body. I came across it once when I curiously exploring the facility. Because my condition is being watched, we need some distraction. She told me to kill the boss monster in the far east continent to make the NPC in the far east continent script get a massive update and will keep Rainer busy for the time being. By doing so, we also entertaining Aaron by my progress in killing monsters. When we execute that plan, she managed to make a blackhole for me. Causing me to be hidden from any surveillences but at the same time i was walking trough the darkness. When we finally managed to reach her "body", I pick it up and come back using the same route from before.. However this time we show up at Tegron''s village where I slain a yeti before. Yuki said that Sakuya is currently here. Next: it''s the final battle.. There will be alot of action, full of whack, pow, kacha and spoiler for the sequel... Yeaaahhh.... Final chapter - the future When I arrived with the body at Tegron''s village, I imediatelly meet up with everyone. When I tell them what is going on, everybody is shocked. Seven that just joined with the group actually is a son of some high ranking officer in the police department. He said, if there is enough evidence, rainer and aaron maybe improsined for the experiment that they do is nearly the same as human experiment. Luckily enough the party is there. Consisting of high leveled player their strength may be needed. There''s a high chance some monster will show up to catch Yuki, at worst a GM will show up. Because after I logged out, she will need time around ten minutes to move the large amount of data about "herself" into the syder. "sakuya are you ready?" I asked her.. After a little nod sakuya lowered her body and touch a girl body that is similar to her. As if looking at a mirror. When her hand touch the body, slowly see started to fade. Seconds later she dissapeared and the lying girl open up her eyes and starts to shout. "get ready, they''re coming. Kuro you need to log out and bring my body as fast as possible." After that I instantly logged out and now running towards the room where they keep yuki real body. "tch.. The door is guarded. I guess I have to defeat them first." Seeing me run at their direction two security that guarding the door took out their weapon. "if they face the old me, i will never stand a chance. But after the training that I have, right now i can move as if I''m in the game." I jump towards one of the guard and kicked him from below to the jaw. A soaring kick that leaves the man collapsed and fall unconcious. When I landed, not wasting any moment I throw a straight punch to the security''s liver and make him succumbed in the ground holding his stomach. After I defeat the security, I found yuki real body attached to various medical equipments. I carefully disconnect the cable one by one to make sure she''ll be safe. I go back to the syder and place the helmet on yuki. When yuki finally open up her eyes and returned to her real body, the whole process took twenty minutes but no one is coming to intterupt. Just when we are heading towards the exit, we came across several lab staff but they''re all moving like zombie towards one direction. As i look at yuki, I know that she agreed that we have to follow the staff. What we see next is something that we can''t imagine. The whole lab staff is bowing down and worshipping someone. In the middle of the zombie circle, stand someone who is smilling in an evil manner. Dr. Schneider.... "hehehe... Welcome my guest... Thank you for your assistance.. Because the disturbance that you made, i can sucesfully initiate my plan." "tell me what is going on here." I am shouting and walking towards schneider but then the zombie horde hold me down. One or two lab staff can''t stop me but right now the entire lab member is blocking the path. "hahaha.. You see...
