With the counter of the opening go down every seconds, everyplayer who have subscribed troughout the world one by one received the game console.. It is no longer using the syder which is commonly used in Rebirth Online in a shape of a helmet.. All player received a box in a size of a backpack and a pair of black visor glassess.. They also recieved a small booklet titled: Rebirth Online II, where your reality is virtual... 1st login - Rebirth Online II launched 1st login - Rebirth Online II launched Twenty one years ago, a company called FFAID was formed by three major company aimed to be the first in the world to create a virtual world. BlueChip corporation, Dixon entertainment, and SkyTree inc. BlueChip corp founded by Aaron researching about the human brain processing capability and sustained the brain stability in the virtual world. Dixon entertainment lead by Rainer, mainly focusing on it wellknown high interactive ability AI(artificial intelligent) is in charge in making the virtual world residents. Lastly SkyTree inc with their CEO Sakaki, boasting their background in medical science trying to make a breaktrough in the world by recreating the virtual world surrounding that commonly used is a surgery simulation. The FFAID company then formed but hit a deadlock when implementing the system. A genius suddenly hired to solve all of the problem. Dr. Schneider, someone who finished the college graduating as a doctor in the age of ten. Making his first global recognition in sucesfully reading the brain electric impulse trough the synapse in the brain neuron. With the genius on board, half a year later the first VRMMORPG game in the world Rebirth Online is launched. With it''s console in a form of a helmet and a big box that can''t be opened by anyone to maintain their trade secrets. The game soon become a trend that changed the game industry. The first virtual reality world leaves everyone speechless with the detail and the "reality" of the virtual world. But without any prior notice, with over than a million player who subscribed the company shockingly goes into bankruptcy. Leaving players in anger and no other game is succeeding in implementing the virtual reality. A shock then come to the people when a new company called GlobalWorld launch a game called Rebirth Online II. A sequel of the first VR game is now on the way to be released. However, no other information about the game can be found. There are no info about the gameplay, no info about the world and monsters, but using only the past glory achievments of its succesor, the game instantly sold out all around the world. Within a few days from the grand opening of the server, players recieved the console. A small black box smilar to the first generation but this time no helmet can be found, only a pair of black visor glassess which is different from the Syder. When the day the server open, millions of players immediately logged in to the server and enters the virtual reality game called Rebirth Online II, where your reality is virtual. ***** A boy, aged around fifteen readied himself lying down on the bed. Black hair that reached the shoulder, and a beautiful face that may be mistaken as a girl is covered by the black visor glasses. He is lying down in a majestic bed and the size of his room indicate that he came from a wealthy family. With a cabinet full of trophy showing his mastery in using the bow. Countless gold medal and throphy was carved in the same name, Hyuuga. Came from a noble lineage that maintain it''s tradition in archery proficiency, it is a house well known as a direct decendant of Shinshengumi. The game console was a reward from his father that he acquired from winning the seagames gold medal last month. When the server open, the boy who is lying down on his bed closes his eyes and let out a deep voice in contrast with his small body. "Log In.." ***** The game then takes him to a very faimilar scene in every other RPG genre, a character creation screen. But, in here he only have the option to input his name. [please input your character name] Strangely enough no other screen to alter the apperance, choosing a race and class, or even starting point. Hmm.. Hyuuga.... [confirming character name, "Hyuuga" , do you accept? Y/N] After pressing Y, the screen infront of him then unfold. The black background shattering to dust and he appeared in the middle of a town with other players that soon filled out the place that seemed to be the town plaza. A big fountain in the middle of the plaza can be seen. The surrounding area takes them back to the medieval times. It is strangely enough no menu windows popped out, only his health bar and mana bar can be seen on the top left of his view. Alongside him, many other players looked confuse and start to try out various commands. "inventory open" "status window" "open skill" "status screen" "info" "help" ...... .. And various words flying out from their mouth. The manual book that comes with the console only explain about how to set up the machine and the way to log in and log out. One of the player then try to log out. "log out" And after a few seconds the player body surrounded in blue light and soar towards the sky. The game released with no info about the gameplay, no info about the commands, only know how of logging in and logging out. One by one players left the plaza either by leaving the game or moving to another area, but later that day a forum was made in the Rebirth Online II website titled: ¡°share what you know and you''ll know what they share" 2nd login - share what you know 2nd login - share what you know In less than an hour, the reply on the forum reaching thousands and the number of sub-thread is increasing quickly. It seemed the game company wants the player to share about what they have found out about the game and share it among players. One of the basic threads called [what happened when you die] is somehow popular. Some players tried to normally die by getting attacked by monster, jumping down from a cliff, drown oneself in a river, and wierd ways to die starts to pop up making it famous. There is even a player that hung himself using a rope and all of the player that dies is revived in the city. Just like that, everytime a rumour show up everybody directly tries it up. There is even some hoax thread that claim they can fly or even moving at double speed if you do some actions. There is also negative threads saying things like the game should have basic guide or something like that, they should be able to equip other weapons other than swords, and some even use insulting words to say that the game is useless other than the fact that it is a virtual reality game. Finally a new thread called [beginner training ground] gives everyone a starting point. "There is a place in the north of the city, this place seemed to be small from the entrance but it is the place to show you the rope to be an adventurer." With a lots of thumb up and star given to the threads starter, Hyuuga quickly logged in after leaves a positive comments. When he arrives at the plaza, the game sure is lively. Many players interacting with each other to share whatever info they have. Maybe in the future information can be much more precious than gold in this game. One thing that Hyuuga notice is, everyone is currently wearing the same leather clothes and carrying the same small bag on their waist. Other than that, no other info can bee seen from other players, not even their name. When he arrives at the place mentioned at the threads, lots of player also have gathered. They all are swarming in front of the entrance and a man aged around fourty standing in the middle. "Welcome adventurer, You have done well to reach this place. Now, this is the beginner training grounds, if you want to survive in the wilderness I suggest you for taking the basic training class. My name is Sid and I''m the trainer in these place. Are you guys ready?" A notification windows then appear infront of Hyuuga. [ Basic training quest] To survive in the wilderness, everyone is suggested to take the basic training class. These may not worth that much but you will understand the basics of the game. Will you participate? Y/N *rewards: quest windows, status windows, inventory windows, skill windows, party windows* Many players immediately accepted the quest including Hyuuga. He have come this far, so there''s no turning back. After they accepted it, the quest windows immediately closed. (To view the quest that you have taken, you can shout the command <> ) It seemed that the player that haven''t got any quest can''t even see their quest windows. This game even have a requirements for player to even see their windows. Hyuuga remembered seeing this information at the subthreads in the forum. After that, they entered the building guided by Sid. The inside are wide enough for thousands of player to fit and there''s hundreds of scarecrow scattered around. Most player can already guess that they are going to have a battle training. "first of all, you can take your swords out from the inventory. The inventory windows can be easily opened by touching the bag at your waist or by saying <>. After that we can test how strong you are by hitting these practice target." Everyone followed the commands and start to take out the same sword out of their bag and one by one choosing their own scarecrow and start to attack. But Hyuuga just standing there doing nothing. For his family that followed the path of archery, using sword is like a big disgrace and insulting their ancestor. Seeing a boy didn''t start to practice, the training NPC slowly apporaches him. You can go to the armory over there and take any other weapon of your choice." Hyuuga then walks to the armory. The armory have a wide variety of weapons. Starting from small dagger to long spear, two handed sword, mace, even throwing dagger and some old style ninja weapon, chain attached to a small scythe. More than hundred types of weapon is in there. Hyuuga amazed at the sight for a couple of seconds until he realized that he''s here only for the bow. When he pick up the bow and some arrows, a small windows appear. [basic weapon switch] A different weapon have different proficiencies. Some may adept at using the swords, some may adept at using the bow. There is no class restricted weapon unless you have finally advanced to a class that have some restriction. Would you like to change your basic weapon to bow? Y/N *Rewards: weapon change option* After he presses the Y button, imediately another windows come up. [CONGRATULATIONS] You have successfully changing your basic weapon for the first time. You are also the first player to change your weapon. As a reward, everyplayer now may access the armory and change their weapon. The rewards seemed to make no sense at all but seconds later he knew what it means, a windows pop up in front of everyone that is online. [CONGRATULATIONS] The requirements for changing basic weapon have been cleared by a player. From now on everyone can change their equipped weapon into any weapon, as long as they meet the minimum requirements to use it. Also some class may not be able to use a weapon that is restricted for them. *basic weapon can be changed in the armory at the basic training grounds* Hyuuga is shocked seeing that notification windows. His current action is affecting the whole player in the server. The game seemed to rely on the player to complete various action and open a whole new system. With the player sharing information and unlocks new play style, this game seems to have no limit of developments. After that, he need to get out quickly with players can be seen rushing to the armory. When he get out, the training grounds can be seen to have changed. There''s an archery range now, not just some basic scarecrow dummy. There are also some unique area for some weapon practice such as whips, the chain and scythe, even some darts board for throwing dagger. With a smile on his face he immediatelly go to pick a spot in the archery range and take out his bow and arrow. Now, let''s see the skill of gold medalist archer. ***** Later that night people that saying bad things about the only weapon that can be used is swords posted another thread [from player to player for player] "Do you guys notice, the requirements for changing weapon is cleared by one player. That mean in this game, a player can entirely changed the whole gameplay. With no clear limitation of the game yet, this game may as well be limitless. It is the info we share from player to another player and we hope some of the effects can influence other players too." After that various response can be found. "yeah, from now on if anyone found out about anything, quickly post it here. It''s exactly like what the forum says, share what you know and you''ll know whay they share." And the number of sub threads quickly increased, less hoax and in the near future may become the main information source for player. 3rd login - I am a genius archer 3rd login - I am a genius archer Minutes later, player coming out from the armory carrying different types of weapon. They immediately choose a dummy and tried out their weapon. As the number in the archery range grows, many find it hard to use the bow. One by one tried to hit the target practice but no one is near enough to hit the mark. After ten minutes or so, most player by now have already realized that the game didn''t have any battle assistance. To use a weapon, one have to actually master the basic of the weapon by itself. Soon the number of player gradually decrease followed by projectile types weapon. They returned to the sword which is easier to use. Ten minutes have passed and some player already gives up in using bow. Meanwhile Hyuuga just kneeling down and closing his eyes. In various tournament, archery branch need a long time of preparation. Checking the wind pressure, the flexibility of the bow and string, even the smoothness and pattern of the bow tail. But the most important of all is maintaining the stability of breathing and put concentration at the highest point. Because of this, archery in a one on one battle is considered useless. Maintaining one composure when seeing an enemy coming with swords is not an easy feat. Furthermore the imagination of quick release of arrow in an arrow barrage only decrease the hit probability, depends only the luck from the number of arrow shot. Rapid shot then in real battle situation have a really low chance to hit the enemy. There is a player trying to shot arrow in succesion which sending it everywhere. Even situated against a sitting target, you can only hit the target one out of five. Coming from a family backgrounding on archery, Hyuuga knows about all of this. He was always told "don''t rush and make every arrow counts" by his father. Hyuuga raise up and hold the bow in his right hand and took the arrow out from the quiver using his left hand. Yes, he was left handed. It wasn''t strange for left handed person to compete at sports when sometimes they''re actually doing better than normal people. He open his eyes, readied the bow and took a deep breath. While he''s holding his breath, the arrow is being launched from the bow. Shooting the arrow when holding the breath is to maintain the stability. *Swush....* With the arrow sound breaking the wind, it fly in a low arc before hitting the practice target in the middle. *Thud..* After that the training ground fell silence as players looking at Hyuuga direction. After hundreds of player fail to aim near enough to the target and start changing to other weapon, a boy hit the bull''s eye... "d-d-did you see that?" "y-yeah... That is awesome... I''m changing back to bow." After seeing what Hyuuga has accomplish, some people quickly run towards the armory. Seeing a boy finally hit the target, some male players pride can''t let them lose. But their real intention is when girls who witnessed the scene saying "so cool" and starts some noise in the training grounds. Even after no one is standing in the archery range, the little boy still kneeling there. When he finally makes his move, of course he becomes the center of attention and causing an uproar. When Hyuuga arrow hit the center of the target, a small windows appear in front of him. [critical hit] *You have dealt 60 damage* Finished with his arrow shooting practice, hyuuga pack his bow and quickly approaches Sid. "Thank you Master Sid for letting me practice. I will take my leave." After bows a little he then turn around before hearing Sid voice. "wait a minute young boy, you haven''t even know how to see your status and skill. Not to mention how to form a party. You still have so much to learn." Looking puzzled, he saying something innocently. "I just have to say <> , <>, and < > right?" Sid stood there for a seconds and laugh. "hahaha... You''re a stupid young boy but I didn''t dislike your simple thinking. As an exception, I let you pass early." To be honest, the basic training course will also teach new players on how to see their status windows, skill windows, and party windows. Of course they have to meet some requirement to pass before these windows can be opened. Eventually they will follow the instruction given by Sid to make it available. Like earlier they can''t open their quest or inventory windows before they we''re instructed by Sid. You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. But seeing the innocent boy in front of him, Sid decided to let him go. Afterall he already know from Hyuuga manner if this isn''t an act for him to easily skip the rest of the training course. [You have levelled up] Of course the basic training course will grant some experience to help players become familiar with the game interface. This level up was meant for players to have when they are granted access to the status window. Sid by then will explain about various stats in the status window. Of course Hyuuga have played some games before. He knew that when leveled up his character will be stronger, so he decided to see the effects. "<>" When he say the word skill, something unexpected come up. [You have no skill available] Hyuuga scratchs his head and say another command... "<>" This time he is sucessful. Of course if his son fall into the gaming world, Hyuuga wouldn''t be a gold medalist. Hyuuga also isn''t some uncivilized boy and he also have played some games before. But the game that he played is an old game which gives the character stronger stats and some skill available when the player leveled up. It''s such and old game and he only mamaged to play it twice. So from his experience, he deducted that if a player leveled up he will basicly get a skill and get stronger. That''s why he is confused why he can''t open his skill windows. It also explain why he leave the training ground before completed the course. His stubbornes in not using any weapon except bow luckily opened the weapon change option. But his knowledge about modern games is almost zero. That''s why he decided to casually leaves the training ground before even finishing the quest. For this game, he actually managed to fetch some basic info in the forum. He do some research but the gaming language is strange to him. He choose to come here because the threads simply titled [beginner]. Now back to the topic when he leveled up and seeing his status window. "hmm... No skill gained when leveled up. Strange... The Golden hero that i''ve played before gives the character a skill every time it leveled up. Anyway, I have stats point available, what does it mean?" When he is confused, he accidentally hover his hand on top of Str and immediately it shows Strength. Of course when you hover your hand to the other stats it will show agility, dexterity,intelligence, and luck. We all know what these basic stat mean. If only he finished his basic training course, he will get a better understanding about modern games. But unfortunatelly Hyuuga doesn''t have any idea. He clicks the strength once more and the point increase to 11. Like a baby finding a new toy, he clicks again for several timea until it hit 15 and the number won''t go up. But when he see his stats once more, he is smiling. Also look, my health is now doubled and mana increased by ten. Hahaha.. Getting stronger in this game is so easy. Why did they put some joke like this. I''m lucky I clicked that strength. If I choose the other, I don''t know what will happen to my character. I hope other players know about these." After feeling satisfied, he then decided to log out and look for more info in the forum. Later that day a new thread called [I am a genius archer] show up. 4th login- his first battle 4th login - his first battle Hyuuga curiously opened the thread titled [I am a genius archer] as someone who walk in the path of archery, finding someone who took the same route is like finding a comrade. But when he read the contents of it, he was dissapointed. This thread is made by a player who is trying to gain fame and lure girls to join his party. Feeling he has waste his time, he look for another thread. [monster battle] This thread made by a player that already reach lvl 10. Hyuuga is not amazed because he thinks he just leveled up easily. How hard it is to level up another 9 times? Hyuuga didn''t know about gaming after all. That was also the reason why he decide to find more info in the forum. From what he read, there is no battle assistance system in this game. Hyuuga doesn''t even know what does it mean so he ignore it. It said every time you kill a monster it gives experience and will drop item. Hyuuga knows that getting more experience will make your character stronger after all he have played a game called Golden hero before. He also read in another threads called [making money] that drop item from monster can be stored in inventory and later be sold to NPC to gain money. Despite Hyuuga excellence skill in archery, he knows only a little bit about gaming. Altough he have good intelligence to put him in top 10 national wide exam, combined with his pride in the noble lineage, he didn''t think highly about other''s opinion. If someone tell him the apple is sweet, he won''t say that it is sweet before experiencing it first hand. But in the other hand if one say that the apple is half sour and half sweet, he will make a conclusion if the apple is sweet. To put it simple, he will make his own conclusion based on experience and if it wasn''t unclear he will make a blind decision but will believe in it until the very end. The best way to put it, simply idiot. That''s because his father is very strict with the archery training. 8 hours a day in the archery range made his knowledge about the world and common sense completely on a kindergarten level. Only his manner of noble lineage trained in the special class have another plus mark. Hyuuga make another conclusion that nothing new he can gain from the forum, he decided to have his first battle. Just when he about to step outside from the city, the guard stopped him "halt. Who goes there?" Feeling that he do nothing wrong, Hyuuga answer in confidence. "my name is Hyuuga sir. Is there anything that I can help you?" The guard inspecting Hyuuga and then laugh. "Are you perharps going to head outside of the city?" "yes sir. Is there something wrong with that?" In Hyuuga tone, we can sense that he feels irritatted a little bit. Hyuuga doesn''t know this NPC will give players low rank quest in an exchange for a map. "aren''t you just a little girl? It''s too dangerous for you to wander outside." "a little girl" That is something that completely forbidden to be said in front of Hyuuga. With his small stature and smooth face, he can''t even count anymore how many people has mistaken him for a girl. With exploded anger he replied. "I''M NOT A LITTLE GIRL!" The voice that comes out from the small body is so loud making the guard stunned. "I will prove it to you that I''m a full grown man." After he regain his composure, the guard then speak again. "if you can bring me 10 rabbit''s fur, then I will consider you as a man. Furthermore I will give you <>" Even though it''s different than usual, the NPC still gives Hyuuga the quest. Of course, the <> is very important when playing a RPG game. [Rabbit''s fur quest] The guard is asking you to bring him 10 rabbit''s fur. As a reward he will gives you <>. * rewards: map command , 1000 experience, 1 gold. * (additional: if you manage to complete the quest you won''t be called "little girl" anymore, but failure will stick that nickname for your character.) Do you accept? Y/N "Fine. I will bring it here. I have no problem in killing a few rabbit." after saying that Hyuuga go out from the city. In the city outskirts only a few players found killing rabbit. Afterall the majority of player have reached above level 5 unlike Hyuuga who log in for an hour and log out to browse trough the forum. Hyuuga''s family rooted deep im noble archery lineage often goes out to mountain and hunt wild animals. Killing ten rabbits is going to be easy. Hyuuga takes out his bow and hung the quiver in his waist. Other than putting it on the back, archer on competition oftenly do this. Hyuuga can see a rabit on top of a hill. He point his bow to the rabbit direction and calmly analyze the situation. He is checking the wind then adjusting his trajectory. *swish..* A second later the arrow has pierce trough the rabbit neck. [critical hit] *you have dealt 70 damage* After that Hyuuga come to take the rabbit. He pull the arrow out from the rabbit body and swipe the arrow to clean the blood. After that he put it back in his quiver. Now, how to skin the fur? Soon the rabbit in his hand scattered to rainbow dust and, a white fur appear. Monster died and dissapeared leaving item behind is a common sight in any game. But for Hyuuga this sight is something that he have never seen. In the Golden Hero that he have played, the body of defeated monster just stay there until decayed.Hyuuga think that he have to actually skinned the rabbit to collect it''s fur but lucky it wasn''t needed. If that''s what happened, seeing hundred players skinning rabbits is a sight that will rise an uproar from animal lover. Seeing how easy it was done, he is going to find another target. Not far from him, he found another rabbit. He take out his weapon again and take aim. *swish..* This time the arrow hit the rabbit on the leg. *you have dealt 25 damage* Hyuuga surprised that his aim is miss. More over the damage dealt is not as high as before. What can be the cause? Seeing the trajectory line and the wind is perfect, one thing came up to his mind. The arrow that he use is the same arrow that killed the first rabit. The impact of piercing the first rabbit may make some dent in the arrow head and the blood will make it heavier than usual. How can he forget that? Afterall in a competition, he never use the same arrow twice. He will not forget about it anymore. The vital points which the arrow land also seemed important, because his earlier shot is a critical hit while right now is only a regular hit. While he is thinking, the rabbit is now aggitated and run towards him to attack. This is something that Hyuuga never experienced. In the real world, the hunted animal if it didn''t die in a single arrow, will definitelly run. But this small white animal is now running towards Hyuuga. He quickly grab another arrow and now raises his bow. But the speed of the rabbit can''t be taken lightly. As mentioned before, Hyuuga is specialized in archery tournament that gives him a lot of time to prepare before each shot. The feeling of having to shot in a rush cause him to panic. It''s one of the bow fatal weakness if the user can''t maintain his composure after he failed his first shot. After seeing the rabbit runs toward him, he regain his composure but get complacent. "What harm can be done by a small rabit?" It was one mistake that will take Hyuuga to his first hummiliation inside the game. Royal Road is the home of this novel. Afterall the rabbit is a lvl 3 monster, even higher than Hyuuga''s. The bow second weakness is close range fighting. In point blank distance, he aimed towards his leg, but the white animal can''t be seen anymore... *crunch* *you have taken 20 damage* ..... And this continues until his health dropped to 50 and start to shot blindly. Finally he can see the rabbit at his leg but it was too late. His last remaining health has dropped to zero. "what''s the matter girl? Can kill the rabbit? Hahaha" The guards laugh to his heart contents when seeing Hyuuga going outside of the town after revived. "ugh.." Hyuuga only walk past trough with an angry expression. "This time I will definitelly kill them all." With anger in his eyes, now he has higher concentration. He learn from his past mistakes and never repeat it again. This kind of attitude has won him gold medal afterall. In a blink of an eye 8 other rabbits have died and he only need one more fur. In the progress, he managed to level up once. With his self proclaimed knowledge once again all of the stat points goes into strength. He then open, his status. For each beginner is given 1 gold coin, it''s more than enough. Basic recovery potion cost 50 silver each which a beginner can have 20 of them if they decided to use all of their money. This is also another weak point in using the bow. The price of the arrow is a burden. With wooden arrow cost 1 silver per arrow, regular arrow cost 5 silver, silver arrow cost 20 but one gold arrow cost 1 gold coin. With the amount of money he have he could afford 1000 of wooden arrow. But he arrogantly wanted the best arrow available even though he can''t afford it. I asked around the NPC and find an info about beginner training center. The NPC in this game really responsive to player question and highly interactive. I''m really impressed by the AI team. I''m greeted by a middle aged man named Sid. I go trough the training course and I learn all the basic gameplay. This is so interesting. A game where we need to find out what we have to do and what we can do. The value of information in this game is priceless. But some basic things like this should be known by a lot of player. This beginner course will be a big help. After I know the game have a forum made for information exchange and sharing, I quickly post the information about the training ground and continue my gaming time. I decided to be strong like Kuro. I guess I have to grind a lot of level to reach his level. I roaming around the town and get lots of quest. In this game interaction with NPC seemed to be another important points, I''ll post about it later in the forum and maybe some of the quest. But I''m not going to tell them all, if I''ve found out all about it and tell them, where''s the fun side in finding the NPC and quest. I think I''ve become the first player to reach level 10 in 3 hours gameplay. I also notice that repetitive action will unlocks new skill such as one hand sword skill that I got when swinging the sword for 50times at the training grounds and leveled up after another 50 strikes. Accidentally my str stats also rose when I''m moving heavy objects at clear the storage quest. Is this game implementing lots of variation in stats growth and skill growth? I wonder if it''s possible to create an original skill. But my biggest curiosity is of course, magic. In this game where there''s no guide to class and profession, where players merely hunting monster at close range using swords and close range weapon, magic will be something to look up to. I heard that a player is using a bow as his weapon but from what I know using range weapon is very hard and requires lot of skill from the player to use.
