《Notice Me! (Moxiety)》 Prologue Patton was your typical shy kid. He was the boy that sat in the corner of the room, listening and observing, rather than speaking and being actively involved in discussions or activities. Logan was Patton''s best friend, they''d known each other for as long as they could remember, practically since birth. Like any other shy, down to earth kid, Patton had his interest piqued by the popular kid. All he wanted was to be noticed by him, loved by him. Then there was Virgil. He was the popular kid, mysterious and withdrawn. Just as Patton had Logan, Virgil had Roman. The two of them had met in kindergarten and became friends almost instantly. Everybody liked Virgil, especially the girls. He had deep brown eyes and if you looked into them long enough, you could see a hint of purple. His hair was dyed purple and long enough to cover his eyes, which only added to his mysteriousness. Virgil had grown up in a broken home, his father was abusive and always shouting at him and his mother. Unbeknownst to everyone, even Roman, Virgil had a huge crush on Patton. He knew how people would react if his secret came out, Patton wasn''t the type of person you''d expect someone like Virgil to like, at least not in that way. He was willing to risk it all to make Patton notice him, but he didn''t see the point. It wasn''t like Patton liked him anyway, he was invisible to him, completely non-existent. Liking somebody for so long was difficult, especially when you often got abused by your father and all you had to think about other than that, is the person you''ll never be with or even get close to. Ultimately it was torture, his life was an emotional rollercoaster, plummeting downwards, showing no sign of stopping.A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. -Notice Me!- Day 1 It was the first day of senior year and people were arriving at school, flooding in through the large iron gates. Virgil and Roman had arrived early that day in order to avoid getting lost in the large crowd of students. Standing by their lockers, leaning against them, Virgil and Roman were looking over their class schedules together. "We''re barely going to see each other!" Virgil stated sadly. Roman nodded, frowning, before opening his mouth to speak. "At least we''ll have geography together..." Virgil smiled and opened up his locker so he could grab what he needed for his first class, chemistry. As this was happening, Patton and Logan were sat on a bench in the courtyard. They were looking over their schedules together as well. "I can''t believe we are in all the same classes!" Patton said excitedly. Logan smiled, which for him wasn''t a regular thing. "Accurate, but there is an infinitesimal chance that we may not be seated together!" he remarked matter-of-factly. Patton, although a little confused by the way his friend had phrased it, giggled. After a few minutes of comfortable silence, the two friends made their way into the school building. They went over to their lockers, which were directly opposite each other''s, and took out their chemistry books before they then headed to class together, chatting as they went, and sat down just as the bell began to ring. Virgil pushed himself off of his locker and headed to first period.Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more. "See you later!" he shouted back to Roman. He walked into the classroom a few minutes late and let out a small sigh of relief as he realised that the teacher hadn''t arrived yet. Standing at the front of the classroom, Virgil''s eyesscanned the room and he spotted an empty seat, it was next to Patton. He took a deep breath and walked over. He sat down and didn''t say anything. -This is going to be awkward- Virgil thought to himself. After what seemed like hours, the bell sounded and he immediately stood and ran to his second class. All the students sat down, Virgil as far from Patton as he could get. "Can you stand around the edges of the room?" asked the teacher, he sounded nice and welcoming. "I have assigned your seats this year" Mumbling and small groans could be heard from the students as they stood around the room and, one by one, were given their seat assignments. Finally, the teacher started to read out the seating arrangements for the back row. "Patton and... Virgil" he said before assigning the last two seats. Virgil sighed and went over to his seat. He wanted to smile about the situation, but also wanted people to think he was unhappy with the arrangement. As the ''popular kid'', he wasn''t supposed to enjoy sitting next to the likes of Patton. Virgil sat, deep in thought as he rested his head in his hands, suddenly the bell sounded and he left the classroom. Lunchtime Meeting It was now lunch and Patton was sitting with Logan as he did everyday. They were talking about random things and Patton was making jokes to help pass the time. A few tables away, Virgil and Roman were sat in silence. Roman was listening to Disney music through his large, red headphones whilst Virgil was scrolling through Tumblr. Virgil put his phone away and looked around at everyone else in the cafeteria in an attempt to occupy himself. He spotted Patton and smiled to himself before turning back to Roman. "I''ll be back in a minute!" he informed Roman, even though he knew he couldn''t be heard. Virgil stood and took a deep breath, he walked over to Patton''s table. The boy in question had his back to Virgil. In order to get his attention, he tapped him on the shoulder, his usual confidence was replaced by a wave of nervousness. Patton turned around, heat rose to his cheeks as he saw his crush standing there. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. "Umm... I w-was wondering if you h-had the math homework?" he asked, cheeks turning pink underneath his white foundation. Logan, who was sat beside Patton, sensed how nervous his friend was and gently nudged him. This nudge snapped Patton back to reality and he spoke up. "Yeah, here" he said, pulling the sheet out of his pocket and offering it to Virgil. Virgil took it and looked over it, a look of confusion spread across his face. He looked back up to Patton. "Do you think... maybe you could, help me?" he questioned, smiling hopefully at Patton. He nodded in response. Virgil pulled a sticky note out of his pocket and wrote something down on it before passing it to Patton who, upon seeing it, put it straight into his phone. He smiled softly and nervously. "I should get back to Roman..." Virgil stated. "B-bye" Patton responded. Virgil turned and walked back to his table whilst Patton turned so that he was sitting sideways, facing Logan. Once Virgil was at his table, he sat down and found himself glancing over at Patton (more often than not). He met Patton''s eyes a lot, as he was also looking over at Virgil. After about 10 minutes of glancing and blushing, the bell rang signalling final period.
