《A demons Promise》 Chapter 1 Chapter 1 They dragged me down the corridors, back to the small room that they always kept me, my body too weak to fight back. Reaching the end of the hallways, the guards opened the door to the room and threw me in, before locking it and leaving me alone. The room was relatively small, one musty mattress where there were supposed to be two, and two blankets, the moonlight from the small cell-like window streaming in, casting the moonlight. Crawling over to the mattress, my body still weak, I wrapped myself in both of the blankets, a familiar scent enveloped my nose, it was faint but still there, the one thing that kept me from going feral. I shuddered at that thought, pulling the blankets closer around me. My eyes flashed violet , as I wrapped the blankets around me tighter, my body finally realising I wasn¡¯t alone. ¡°Honestly, how many contracts have you broken?¡± The angry voice echoed throughout the room, a shadow in the corner finally stepping into the moonlight. The author''s narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. ¡°How many have you broken?!¡± Now yelling Karl stepped out from the shadows, he was the demon that ran this hellish place, his eyes glowing a bright gold, dressed in a dark red suit, his white hair resting around his shoulders, anger radiating from him as I let out a small whimper. ¡°How many?¡± His voice was calm, although I could still feel the pure rage from him. ¡°Around 900.¡± I mumbled, too scared to look at him as I felt the chain click around my hand, my face being yanked upward to look at him. ¡°You¡¯re lucky I haven¡¯t killed you yet.¡± He hissed as darkness filled the room, his eyes glowing brighter, my body now frozen in terror. As quick as the darkness came it left, my body still frozen, my eyes still glowing. Karl grabbed my left wrist and frowned. On my wrist was a seal, a crow and the initials R.M engraved onto my skin. A fatal thing, a contract between two demons, that was forbidden, they can mate, form alliances, but they can never form contracts, contracts are reserved for humans, souls, food. Karl looked at my wrist for a few more seconds, muttered something about using a hotter branding rod and disappeared. I shuddered at that thought, branding rods were used to permanently break contracts that were officially established, and it hurt, a lot, even for a demon like me, the pain was excruciating. The doors opened again, snapping me out of my thoughts, the guards who had escorted me here, once again standing at the door. Standing up, a dull expression on my face they stepped forward as they unhooked the chain from the wall and led me out the door. Chapter 2 ¡°You will be assigned to a human, this is your last chance to prove yourself, to show that an incident like last time won''t happen again,¡± Karl smirked, sitting at his desk as I got pushed down in a chair opposite him, the chains and guards still at either side of me. I winced slightly at the mention of the incident, the memorial date was approaching soon, a grim reminder of my actions. I merely nodded, not daring to speak as I met his golden eyes, a flame of anger barely flickering in my chest, too exhausted to fight. ¡°Who am I to be assigned to?¡± I asked quietly, my eyes a cold violet as I fidgeted with my fingers. ¡°Amelia Clare,¡± he responded as he got up from his chair and came to stand in front of me, motioning for the guards to leave, thus only leaving us alone in the room. ¡°You do know that this is your last chance,¡± Karl said calmly as he removed the chains from my arms, I didn¡¯t move. ¡°Otherwise you¡¯ll be joining your precious friend soon.¡± An evil glint in his eyes as I lunged at him, knocking him to the floor, rage now burning in my eyes as my grip on his shirt tightened. ¡°Don¡¯t talk about him,¡± I hissed, my eyes now glowing a furious mix of violet and red. His face darkened as a black mist filled the room, his form changing as I scrambled away in fear, mentally cursing at myself for letting the anger consume me. Advancing towards me at almost lightning speed, he yanked me up by my hair, a calm collected look on his face, yet the rage could be seen clearly, his golden orbs glowing viciously in the now dark room. As he moved closer I began to struggle, terror now clinging to my soul. Before he could get any closer a loud knock was heard at the door, causing Karl to drop me, my frame slumping to the floor as I scrambled up, the darkness now retreating to the owner, who was now back to his human form. Shakily I returned to my seat and kept my head down as the door opened and a guard handed him a letter. After a few moments of silence, Karl handed me the letter. ¡°Here is where you¡¯ll find your new mistress,¡± His voice now calm. Snatching the letter I rushed out of the room, the guards yanking me back as they forced me to walk with them. The chain around my neck was loosened, just enough to allow me to perform my duties as a servant to the young girl, soon to be my new mistress. I sighed inwardly, knowing that it would forever remain there, always trapped. I was handed the location of the young Amelia Clare and was told I could leave to fulfill my contract. I didn¡¯t need to be told twice, I rushed out of the building, the London night sky clear as stars danced in its dark embrace, the sense of small freedom feeling euphoric. Upon reaching the location I frowned, the building looks familiar. A scream was heard, snapping me out of my thoughts as my eyes glowed, a hungry feeling consumed me. ¡°Such despair.¡± I thought to myself as I slipped into the building, transforming into my demon form as I searched for my new mistress. Her screams were heard again, yet this time I heard a young boy¡¯s scream mingled with the girls. ¡°Violet!¡± the young boy¡¯s screams filled my ears, as I froze, trying to block out the memory, forcing myself to block it out. My attention now returned to the young girl as she reached her hand out, crying and screaming in despair. If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. She was laid on a table with two figures surrounding her, two unmoving children lay to the side, their pulses weak but still present. Filling the room with darkness as I hovered above the girl, my fangs now visible as I let my true form show, the terror on the people''s faces bringing me a sadistic sense of glee as I watched them scramble back, my attention now turned to the girl as I grasped her outstretched hand. ¡°Lady Amelia Clare, do you wish to form a contract?¡± I asked, in a calm voice, her hand now gripping mine, her screams stopping as she stared at me. ¡°W.who are you?¡± She asked, her green orbs staring into mine. ¡°A demon,¡± I stated simply, the despair still present in her eyes, as I struggled to refrain myself from devouring her soul right there and then. ¡°Are you here to save me?¡± Amelia asked, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. ¡°If that is what you wish,¡± I smiled, my human form showing ever so slightly through the darkness. ¡°But for that to happen, you need a contract with me,¡± I smirked, as she shakily sat up. ¡°Will you help me achieve my goal?¡± She asked more firmly, gripping my hand tightly, afraid that I¡¯d slip away, back to the darkness, abandoning her, although her soul was filled with such despair it kept me rooted in place, such a young child filled with so much despair, this was first. I knew that with time, and if she felt enough despair, well, her soul would be one of a kind. ¡°Of course, but at a price,¡± I leaned down, now facing her. ¡°Anything!¡± she stated firmly. ¡°I¡¯ll give you anything.¡± ¡°Your soul.¡± She fell silent for a while as I observed her, shoulder-length curly black locks, her blazing emerald eyes, a brow tattered gown covering her thin frame, her hair reminded me of him. My eyes stayed glued to the human girl as she sat there thinking. ¡°You can have it,¡± Amelia said, her eyes filled with determination. I grinned, a satisfied hum. ¡°What do you wish to achieve my Lady?¡± I asked as I reverted to my human form taking off my gloves, the darkness still present. ¡°I wish to find my parents and make sure they never hurt me again, make them suffer!¡± Amelia declared, her eyes blazing with fury and determination. A hum escaped my lips as I helped the child to her feet, a fierce determination now fixed in her eyes. A seal appeared on my right palm as I extended my hand to the young girl who placed her hand in mine. ¡°For a contract to be formed, you must decide where the seal will rest on you,¡± I stated. ¡°The more visible it is, the stronger my bond to you,¡± I added. Amelia paused briefly, her eyes wavering for a brief moment before responding. ¡°Next to my heart.¡± ¡°One last thing, you need to give me a name.¡± ¡°Why?¡± She asked. ¡°With a name, I become bound to you fully, and besides, you can''t just call me a demon,¡± I smirked. ¡°Violet,¡± Amelia said sharply. I stiffened, mainly because no one had actually called me by my real name in quite some time. Only one person had called me by my name, and he had disappeared a long time ago. ¡°Very well, my name shall be Violet, and I shall serve you until your goal is complete.¡± I smiled, the darkness now vanishing as I now stood in my human form, dressed in a butler outfit, my now brown curls resting on my head, my eyes still their electric mix of violet and red. Amelia stared at me, surprised at my human form. ¡°I shall place the seal where you requested, do be warned it may hurt a little,¡± My eyes glowed at the last part. ¡°You must give me your first order.¡± ¡°I order you to never lie and always stay by my side no matter what!¡± She declared. ¡°Yes, my Lady.¡± I bowed as I placed a hand on her chest, a malicious glint in my eyes, now content that the girl was mine. Amelia let out a blood-curdling scream as the seal began to burn into her skin. I picked her up, as she dug her nails into my shirt. ¡°Burn this place to the ground!¡± She screamed, the seal almost fully burned into her skin. My eyes flashed as a grin spread across my face. ¡°Yes, my Lady,¡± I replied as I set the building ablaze and walked out of the doors, the screams of the barely breathing corpses filling the air, the flames licked at my feet as I walked with the mistress towards the exit. As I walked towards the exit I saw something that made me freeze in my tracks for a moment. A young raven-haired boy, dressed in all black, his eyes a red hue, his black curls blowing in the wind, a kind smile on his face as he looked at me and then vanished. I shuddered as I brushed it off, chalking it up to my mind playing tricks on me as I exited the building holding the young mistress in my arms who seemed to have passed out from the pain. I felt a presence behind me and spun around, Amelia still in my arms. My eyes glowed a protective red, my hold on Amelia firm ¡°What are you doing here Sire?¡± I asked, putting some distance between us both as the building continued to burn in the background. ¡°Merely came to see if you had succeeded in forming a contract.¡± He smiled. I frowned as I took a step back. ¡°As you can see I¡¯ve managed,¡± I said, trying to keep my cool. ¡°Good, I¡¯ll be dropping by soon for a progress update.¡± I merely nodded. ¡°The London Massacre memorial is coming up soon, will you be attending?¡± I flinched, he seemed to want to continue my torture. ¡°It depends if my mistress will allow me,¡± I stated. Karl merely nodded before he vanished, leaving me with Amelia in my arms, the building blazing before us. Pulling out the piece of paper that held the contractor''s info, still cradling Amelia I saw that there was a mansion in the Clair name not too far from here. With a smile on my lips, I started to make my way to the estate, The building behind me now in ruins. Chapter 3 ¡°Do you know anything about the London Massacres?¡± Amelia asked, sipping the herbal tea I had just poured her. ¡°I¡¯ve heard of it,¡± I replied, placing her breakfast of egg and tomatoes in front of her. ¡°Five years ago a bloody deranged murderer tore through the streets of London, killing hundreds in one night.¡± Amelia nodded. ¡°Did they ever catch the killer back then?¡± her green eyes staring into mine. I shook my head. ¡°Sadly no, to this day the killer still runs loose, uncaught.¡± She was staring at me, a look of concern on her face. ¡°Your eyes¡¡±She trailed off. Blinking, I pulled out a letter from my jacket and handed it to her. ¡°A letter arrived for you this morning.¡± I stated Amelia''s attention now on the letter as she ate. We''ve been invited to attend the memorial service that''s being held this weekend.¡± She stated, eyes shining. ¡°While it is a sad event, I¡¯m glad that I¡¯ve been given the opportunity to attend.¡± I merely nodded. ¡°I have a list of things I need you to complete.¡± Amelia stated as she handed me a piece of paper. I scanned what was written on it before putting it in my pocket as I bowed, smiling before I vanished. She still hadn''t gotten used to the fact that I was there to serve her so she¡¯d give me lists of tasks instead of direct orders. Humming to myself, I made my way down the busy streets of London, trying to find the building required for my first task Upon locating the building I approached it, fixing up my attire before entering. A young woman greeted me as I walked in. ¡°Welcome,¡±Her voice cheerful, despite the memorial coming up very soon. Humans are odd creatures, an upcoming event that serves as a grim reminder to hundreds of deaths and yet they can keep a cheerful composer. This text was taken from Royal Road. As I was about to leave, the door behind me opened and a man walked in, causing me to freeze momentarily, my eyes flickering slightly. A demon like myself. I couldn¡¯t figure out what type of demon it was by the scent alone, which was weird because usually demons had a unique scent. His appearance looked familiar though, shoulder-length black curls, piercing brown reddish eyes, and a scent that I couldn''t put my finger on. ¡°Ryan, welcome!¡± The lady at the counter greeted the demon, my eyes narrowed, any familiarity vanishing. He¡¯s dead, you saw it yourself. ¡°Hello again, I''ve come to pick up an order that my master placed a few days ago.¡± Ryan said cheerfully. My body wouldn¡¯t move, frozen at the voice, my brain struggled to rationalize what I saw, the woman once again vanishing to the back. You saw his corpse, you saw him die right in front of you! I hurriedly left the store, my hands shaking as I clutched the bag, trying to find the logic in what had just happened. It¡¯s probably just your mind playing tricks on you. Hurriedly, I finished the rest of my tasks and headed back to the manor. ¡°You seem distressed, is everything ok?¡± Amelia asked, as I hung her dress up in the closet. I had been a shaking mess, yet despite that I had managed to complete my duties, yet I sensed my mistress was worried. ¡°Of course,¡± I replied as I closed the closet and turned to face her. She didn¡¯t seem to believe me, giving me a glare. ¡°I had a very dear friend,¡± I began. ¡°He sadly died in the London massacre¡¡± I trailed off. I wasn¡¯t exactly lying, but I just nodded before adjusting my frame as I felt Amelia hug me. ¡°I¡¯m sorry that happened.¡± Amelia mumbled as we stood there. ¡°It''s alright, it happened a long time ago.¡± Stiffening I glanced down at the young girl. She looked so much like him. I felt the hunger again, the smell of her soul, it would make any demon drool, and yet she was mine. A darkness slowly seeped out of me, moving towards the young girl, the hunger in my soul growing. A loud knock from the front door echoed throughout the mansion, causing the darkness to hastily return to me, Amelia pulled away. Hurrying out of the room and down the stairs, Amelia trailing behind me. Yet I felt something was off. Placing a hand on Amelia''s shoulder she stopped, looking at me with a puzzled look. ¡°I do believe it would be best if you waited in your study my Lady, ¡°I whispered. ¡°We seem to have an uninvited guest.¡± She merely nodded, running back to her study. After I heard the door click, I returned my attention to the person waiting outside. Chapter 4 Chapter 4 Reaching the door I grabbed the handle and swung the door open. Karl stood there, a smirk on his face as he looked at me. ¡°You look like you¡¯ve seen a ghost.¡± He chuckled as he put a foot forward to come in. Glaring at him he took a step back, letting me step forward so I closed the door behind me. ¡°Was that your doing?¡± I snarled, my eyes glowing in anger. ¡°Are you still going to torture me with his image?¡± I asked, raising my voice, my hands shaking. ¡°That¡¯s your punishment,¡± Karl stated simply. ¡°Wasn''t killing him right in front of me enough?!¡± I was now crying, my entire body shaking with rage as the demonic shadows started to seep out of my form. ¡°Know your place, Felice,¡± Karl growled, the surrounding area now going dark, the only thing visible was his golden eyes. I froze at that, the shadows darting back to my figure, now shaking in fear as I bowed, the chain around my neck tightening. He raised his hand, even though in the darkness I could see it coming.Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon. Swinging at me, he punched me, sending me flying across the length of the building. Covering my head, my figure now shaking, as I struggled to get up only to feel a foot pushing me to the ground. ¡°Know your place!¡± Karl growled.¡± You¡¯ll never be free, you¡¯ll always remain as property!¡± he continued, the pressure against my bones increasing, the need to breathe clawing at my lungs. ¡°He¡¯s dead because of you, it¡¯s your fault. ¡° he muttered. ¡°Defy me again and you¡¯ll be joining your beloved soon enough,¡± Karl concluded. ¡°Hopefully tortured for the rest of your miserable life, I¡¯ll see to it personally.¡± ¡°Reminding you every day that you caused someone you care about to die, that you were the one responsible,¡± He ranted, a sadistic glee in his voice as he continued to grind his foot into my back. ¡°That if you had kept your feelings in check he would be still alive!¡± His maniacal laughter etched in my ears as the darkness faded, leaving me sprawled on the ground gasping for air. Composing myself, my body aching I made my way to Amelia''s study and knocked. A sniffle was heard on the other side. Quietly opening the door I stepped in. looking around to identify the noise. ¡°Are you alright Lady Clare?¡± I called out, my voice still had not returned to me, but I stood straight as to not give away any unwanted detail. Shooting out from what I assumed to be under the desk, she strode up to me. ¡°Who was it?¡±She asked. ¡°An uninvited guest,¡± I stated a neutral expression resting on my face. Amelia shuddered. Over the week that I had been serving her, her parents had sent people to find her and bring her back. She had ordered me to deal with them as I see fit, only to make sure that I didn¡¯t bother her or wake her up. ¡°I took care of it, so there''s no need to worry.¡± I smiled, bending down to wipe the tears off her face. ¡°You won¡¯t leave me right?¡± Amelia asked suddenly. Crouching down I looked at her, giving her a reassuring smile. ¡°Of course not. You ordered me to stay by your side after all.¡± ¡°What if I hadn''t ordered you to, would you leave?¡± ¡°No,¡± I replied. ¡°I¡¯ll stay by your side no matter what. Even if the whole world is against you and burning down, I¡¯ll remain by your side till the very end.¡±
