《Such is Life》 Rain Pitter, patter- Traces of rain presents itself to her in point blank distance on the other side of the glass as she blankly stares at the darkening clouds. Pitter, patter- She doesn''t have a care in the world. Small droplets start to dance across her window. As it became more apparent to her that it wouldn''t be passing over quickly, the girl stood up and began removing her watch and pendant revealing old partially faded tan lines on her wrist. By then, soft sounds of thunder began echoing through her empty house. Leisurely, she then began to dress down. First, she pulled off her loose top to reveal another set mostly faded tan lines with a small scar partially covered by her black sports bra. The girl with a small frame slowly traced over the scar then the curves of her body and around her nonexistent abs with her fingers as another wave of thunder, slightly louder, rang through her house. It''s sprinkling now. She continued expressionless, her fingers reached her hips, and in one motion, she slid her pants down leaving herself only with her undergarments. Double checking the fact that she removed anything with the potential of getting ruined off, she swiftly headed for her backyard. By now, the ground is completely soaked from the rain. She casually steps outside into the rain. After initially flinching against the cold touch of the rain, all the tenseness in her body disappeared. She relaxed all at once as if the rain washed it away. Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings. For about a half hour, she simply stood there as her wavy dark drown hair became black and straight from rain. Many different emotions that are normally buried deep down begin to surface and flow out as she smiled then laughed then fell into a crying fit. Everything she wouldn''t dare to do infront of people- The falling bits of water acted as her camouflage as they hid her tears away. Once again numb after everything left her system, a big sigh of relief escapes her mouth as a tired smile creeps onto her face. Soaking wet and heavy from the rain, the free girl became uncomfortable with the added weight from her bra and underwear so she tears off her remaining undergarments and throws it to the side. The rain intensifies to the point where the shivering girl can''t see three feet in front of her. Suddenly exhausted, she throws herself into the grass. With her hands behind her head, she kicks her feet up to listen to the calming rhythmic sounds of the rain. The predictable nature of the taps of falling water always made her eyelids feel heavy. It probably provided a sense of relief for her. With not a soul in a hundred mile radius to be heard, she closes her eyes to listen to the rain as she falls deep into a dream of a world that isn''t her own. That One Person The girl wakes up to find a man looming over her with an umbrella. It''d been two hours but it is still raining. For a moment they just kind of stood there staring at eachother. Still groggy from being asleep for too long, she began to talk, "Dad...?". She quickly snapps back to reality. "Oh, you''re home." "Yeah... you wanna maybe get up?" He offered to help by reaching out to her. "Mhm, welcome home Uncle K." She took his hand and got up. "Thank you." He flashed a wary smile and reverted back to having a worried look in his eyes, "Your hands have no warmth... let''s get you inside, I''ll start the fire goin'' ". He ushered her in. The girl ran to her room to throw on a shirt and a pair of underwear. Catching a wifts of sweet and spicy mouth watering smells leaking into her room minutes later causes her to enter a sort of hungry trance as she rushed into the kitchen to find her uncle cooking up a storm. He has many pots and pans on various burners. He has some pasta boiling next to some stir fries vegetables. The pots and pans are full with vibrant colors from several different vegetables. One skillet has a noticeably big slice of a mean ribeye. He is basing it with garlic butter and rosemary. The smell is to die for. All the burners are cranked up the max except for one big pot. This particular pot is covered and on low heat. Judging from where she stands now, she can only tell that whatever it is, it''s white and likely very runny. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. Kogny notes the girl''s presence and turns around and begins to sing, "Be my guest! Be my guest! Put my service to the test..." She cuts him off in complaint, "Uncle K! You know I''m too old for that." He playfully responds, "Too old?! How can you be too old for a classic?" "Okay. FINE. Maybe I''m not too old, but I''m not in the mood right now. Are we having guests today?" "Darn, busted." He raises both his hands in defeat, "Did I forget to tell you this time? Actually, put that aside for a second, are you hungry? I made you some congee." She nods. Kogny then notices how dressed down she is, "can you wear at least some pants though? I don''t care about the bra anymore but pants are not a negotiable." She shrugged and walked out to put on some joggers. He calls after her, ".. and where a jacket just for when the guests are around!" She yells back, "Yeah, okay fine!". Her A phone begins to vibrate and ring, "Sha la la la la la ooh la la..." "Uncle K your phone''s ringing!", she brings Kogny''s phone over to him. "It''s -her- right? Don''t you ever get embarrassed in public? You must really like her..." A mischievous smile is plastered on his face, "She''s my other half". "Ew, gross! Keep the corny talk to yourself!" She storms off and pretends to go to her room but out of curiosity, she stays to listen. Just what kind of person...? "Hey honey! You''re on speaker." "Hey babe, you making another wooden trinket again?" "Nope, right now I''m cooking." "Wow... he cooks too?! I wish I had half your skills; how are you?" "I''m doing great, I''ve sold more projects this month..."If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. "Why do I feel like there''s a "but" statement coming?" "Ah, you know me well." "Of course babe! We''ve been together for two months now... come on, what''s up?" "Well, it''s about my neice..." "Oh! What was her name? Sara? Savanah?" "Amadea." "Ahh yes, what a beautiful name- What about her?" "I''m just worried about her." "Awww, honey buns! She''ll be alright! Don''t worry about it, it''s probably just boy problems or something. I mean, your brother died like, five years ago right? (Poor dude, he died before he could reach 50)" "Yeah, but it''s not something that always heals with time. She was also more attached to her dad when both her parents were around too." "I know, I know, it''s just hard to imagine having caring parents. You met my folks." "Yeah, I know, but I''m not so comfortable with you talking about my neice that way... she''s dealing with a lot more then you can imagine." "Right! My bad, sorry, sorry. Hey! Oh my bad, that was my brother just now... I gotta go! Kisses!" "Right, bye then." He runs to his bedroom to head first fall into his bed. He just colapsed into his bed as if he''d run a marathon because this relationship wasn''t always this forced. Somewhere along the lines it must''ve gone off the rail when her parents finally divorced. He mutters underneath his breath after sighing, "it''s not the same anymore". Amadea notices that the call is over and quickly escapes to her room. "Amadea! Can you turn off the stove and take care of the kitchen?" "In a minute!" "Thank you!"
