《18 Purifying Magics》 Prologue In an old appartment complex a man is fast asleep. Not dreaming, no. What would someone who is so unwanted dream about. No he is experiencing a nightmare. After being kicked out of the magical world by his family and those who are associated by them for being a half-blood in Hufflepuff he joined the military. Going into the British Army he had little expectations on his life turning around as he just wanted to do something for himself. His half brother had always pushed his friends away using their family name and magical prowess to ensure that he was miserable. 7 years of being the loner, the black sheep. He wanted none of it. No longer will he be the one that must bend to the will of others. Except he did. In hindsight, the man should have realized that the military is exactly about that. An army can not be efficient if there is no form of hierarchy. Without a rank you are to conform to your superior officers and carry out the necessary orders. Honestly it works quite well. The only problem is that there is little to no record of him in Britain. Having little else than a birth certificate and joining the army made his superior officers treat him poorly in boot camp. Any squad he was assigned to was put through the ringer as nothing he did was enough. Always, he was the problem. It was so bad that he got the direct blame for when another squad had missed the time for their marching because he was within the area of their break. A spy. That was how he was treated as. He could only ascend to be a logistics officer for the boot camps. The mountains of paperwork that was pushed off onto him to work through and file was beyond measure. When a drill instructor had been late one day for morning marches, it was the man that had been subjected to reprimand. The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. He had enough. Going directly to the Major in charge of the camp he explained his case. The man was understanding as he had seen the injustice occuring to him during his training, but was too low rank at the time to go over his superiors head. At first everything looked like it was going through the right channels to get the instructor reprimanded. Sadly that had not happened. One day on his way back to his desk he saw a military police officer with a drug dog next to his desk. To say the man was shocked was an understatement. Next thing he knew he was in a taxi with a box of his things after getting a dishonorable discharge. All these scenes played in his head throughout the night. Banging at his appartment door awoke him. Groggily looking at his alarm clock he saw it was 3:37 am. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes he slowly made his way to the door. Still the sound of someone at the other side of his door harshly knocking rung within his ears. Opening he saw Oliver Silver, someone from his year at Hogwarts. The Gryffindor ended up becoming an auror like was his dreams. "I certainly was not expecting you here." Oliver was one of the people who had stepped up for him in his first year before the bullies started messing with him. Hearing those words Oliver could not meet the mans gaze. "Look, I don''t know what to say abou.." "Don''t worry about the past." The man cut him off. The last thing he needed was simpathy from someone who did not stick up for him when he needed it the most. Oliver sighed deeply. Looking back up there was no longer the face of a former classmate, but that of an experienced auror. "Your brother is dead. Right now you are the only one who can succeed as the Lord of your house." That was not what the man thought this would be about. Before he could ask any questions Oliver continued with some more news. "As the Regent of the Most Noble House Aster you are also now the magical guardian of your niece, Selene Aster. Welcome back into the World of Magic Silus." Chapter 1 Edited 1-25-21 Sitting behind his oak desk within his office, Silus contemplated what to do next. These last years with Selene were enough to bring back his hope in humanity. The girl was like the first ray of light to a coal miner after their long days of darkness. Looking to his left he saw the box that began his 3 day long migraine. There was no way that he could even ask someone for advice, not like he had anyone to go to anyway. This was just way too big. Covered in ancient runes and hieroglyphs was a black box that was half a meter on all sides. There were engravings on every side that made it to where any different angle held new runes and images. The cube even had a slight ambient light coming from the thing that only seemed to follow his gaze. Silus sighed as he forced himself to tear his eyes away before any more potions were needed. Leaning back, Silus thought back to the elation that had overtaken him when after 8 years of analysing it opened. The thing was a puzzle that played off of his very perception of reality. Any change in angle, light, or mindset ended in the complete failure of trying to decipher what was right in front of him. That doesn''t even take into consideration that he needed to know the languages and runes, as well as how they interacted with each other. The wizard had lost count of the amount hours spent in the library or hiring someone to teach him what he needed to learn just to begin researching. That does not even count the languages that have essentially died and had to be reconstructed from the scraps left by the passage of time. "Oh how the world today would be if the countless ancient cultures still existed. The things we could learn, what could be understood." Sighed the wizard. "Uncle! Uncle!" The sound of feet thumping up the stair could be heard from the door. ''Ah, she must be done with her homework,'' Silus thought. Turning around in his chair that he brought from his old apartment, Silus managed to catch the blond rocket heading towards his chest. "Can we do it now?! I want one! You said I could have one as a familiar today! Come. On." Selene punctuated the last two with big tugs on his sleeze. She was putting as much strength as her little 8 year old arms could, turning her face red from the effort. Chuckling to himself the half bood could only relent. He did indeed say that they could try it out eventually as a means to appease the hyperactive girl. Getting up Silus could not help thinking to himself that his life is just going to get insane. You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story. Going through the hallways of the muggle portion of his Animal Research Reserve in Scotland, Silus was eventually dragged to an inconspicuous wooden door. Even though it was a little out of place in the modern building, the stone brick exterior left over from what used to be here before the reconstruction was enough to explain away. The East Wing of the building was where more of the remnants of the destroyed Aster family manor over looking the sea remained. Seeing a wood door here was hardly eye catching. Still, Sirus ensured that there were 6 other wooden doors scattered in the East Wing just so that there would not be questions of just the one. Magic is very useful, but can sometimes become unreliable. Should the Muggle Repelling or Notice-Me-Not Charm fail there would still be no suspicions on why it was there. Unlike many wizards, Silus was not naive to think that the muggles would never eventually discover the magical world. Even with his limited time in the muggle military he could see the rapid advances in technology. Placing his wand on each of the doors hinges he recites a part of the poem, The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. When he recited "tapping" he would tap his wand on the door''s handle while he would rap three times on the center of the door when reciting "rapping." All had to be on time with the poem or else the door would not open resorting in the wizard having to recite it all over again. Not many wizards would ever know a muggle poem enough to recite the first passage, but still that was the point. There were some Ravenclaws who could not keep their curiosity from bleeding over into the muggle world. Turning the handle and pushing through, the entire atmosphere changed. Where once there were windows everywhere to cast in natural lighting, now there was a bright light overhead acting similar to the sun outside. Where red and brown brick along with white plaster covering the walls now there was polished grey stone in a giant dome structure. The entire place was separated into different sections for the animals being held. Dragons were in the center as they required the largest area to move around, Unicorns to the North as they were to be kept away from their sworn enemy the manticore in the South. To the East were the dangerous Nundu whose jungle was not to be entered unless an entire team wearing the correct protective gear was authorized. The West was where the workers quarters were located as well as the far less dangerous magical creatures. Naturally this was the magical section of the Animal Research Reserve. Sirus had used the destroyed Aster family manor and land to construct a Magical creature Reserve. As the ward stone was still recoverable, Sirus paid the goblins a hefty fee to have the family wards repaired, upgraded, and repurposed to fit its new function. Sadly any family that would have lived here was killed in the Dark Lord''s assault on the property. Not so sadly was that there was no longer a home of abusive bullies to come back to. As Regent of the Most Noble Family of Aster, Silus had control of the wards and all vault funds until Selene came of age to take up her Ladyship. "Come on!" Selene was impatient to finally see what the box would do. Now was when the box would open a whole new world of research to the magical world. Now was when wizards would breed a new species of creature. Now was to introduce to the world, Pokemon. Chapter 2 Edited 1-25-21 3 Days Earlier Within the North Wing of the facility, Silus was at his desk in his Directors office looking through a layered magnify glass. Under his gaze was the box that could he could honestly say would be the death of him. Every time that he thinks of giving up from sheer frustration something new keeps popping up. This could just be an elaborate form of torture. Constantly he was being given a light at the end of the tunnel scenario just for him to be plunged back into the darkness of the unknown with more questions. Having enough of his self torturing for a moment, Silus looks towards his niece. Sitting in comfortable wooden chair with some new foam cushions she was playing a muggle game. It was so easy and simple that it could be beaten in a few hours, but the mix of strategy and childishness was quite appealing. Smiling, Silus just watched her scrunch up her nose in concentration while the games music played. This was why he was in the muggle part of the reserve. Magic naturally disrupts the usage of muggle electronics so working on the box during the mandatory attendance hours is a better option than what he used to do. Everyone is paid in a set salary aside from any gained through grants and the like, so he could work on his little pet project when there was little paperwork needed to be done. Having to take care of Selene over the years has taught him many things about children. The most important was how small their attention span was. As the staff worked on their research the last thing that was needed was for a bored child to barge in demanding to play. The fact nearly all the incidents that occured from Selenes boredom were around the carnivores made that even more important to address. At first Silus just thought that a stern scolding would be enough just like the rest of his employees, but he quickly learned that he had no way to combat a little girls most dangerous weapon; tears. Once the waterworks started to flow he had no idea what to do and ended up giving in to her demands in order to wipe away her distress. It was a trap. Every time. Immediately after caving, she''d wipe her face then bounce around happily to where she wanted to play. Left unable to go back on his word he could just depressingly followed her. One of his muggle assistants, Carla, had a daughter of her own and Silus would find himself grudgingly asking for help when dealing with her. Her response to his request was to laugh at his face. "She''s a child. What did you expect? All she wants is some attention so all you have to do is switch hers to something else. Something fun." Feeling like an idiot, Silus took his niece down to town when he went to get some more supplies. Walking together while holding hands they just enjoyed each others company. Turning a corner that he normally does not take, Silus opened the door to a game store. Seeing the interior of the place Silus could swear her saw stars pop out of his niece''s eyes. Moving from shelf to shelf, Selene was looking at each game and toy the store had. While she was distracted by everything surrounding her, Silus walked to the store clerk. The young woman behind the counter took one look at him then at Selene and smiled knowingly. "Hello Sir, how may I help you." "Um, Hi. My niece has been bored lately and well." At this point Silus could only scratch his head in embarassment. Sighing he continued, "She has been getting into trouble distracting my staff. Do you have anything that she can play while we work?" Looking pointedly at him she asked a question that he dreaded. "Is that so? Now why might a girl like her not be in primary school?" "I home school her myself," Silus nervously replied. Staring at the older man in front of her for a few more minutes she finally just ended it with a sigh. "Alright. You want something that she can play by herself and that will take up her time correct?" Silus nodded in agreement. "Alright. And might I ask if she already has a gaming system or do you require one as well?" "Uh, maybe the most popular one?" Silus had no clue what muggle children did for fun. Thinking back he did not even know what wizarding kids did for fun either. His evil father and brother put a stop to any of his mothers attempts to have him join in. Sighing once more the clerk turned to a glass case behind the counter. Inside were many boxes of something he didn''t recognize. "Here is the latest of the popular gaming system from Nintendo, the Game Boy Color. Since you clearly are needing a longer game to draw her attention then I suggest the latest Pokemon game. It has its own story and creatures to train while even allowing for the first games location to be unlocked after a certain part is completed."Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! A tug at his sleeve made him turn to the full puppy dog eyes that his niece was giving him. Sighing again, wondering how he could have fallen so low by such a little girl, Silus bought the game. All the way back to the reserve Selene was contently holding onto both boxes. Any time he would look at them she would tighten her grip then glare as if he was going to take them back to the store. Once the Uncle and Niece reached the place they had called home a problem occurred. Something that Silus had not thought of when giving Selene her game. Walls. Three times. Three walls. Three bumps on her forehead from walking head first into the wall. Three times she simply rubbed her head and continued with her face buried into her game. Silus sighed to himself once they both reached his office. ''At least now she has something to entertain herself with,'' he thought. Quickly he opened the door for his niece so that she would not give herself head trauma again. "Alright, sit in your chair while I study my thingy." Yes he called his frustrating research project a thingy. What else do you call something complex to a child? The last time Silus tried to explain even a little of what the artifact was, her eyes glassed over in boredom and proceded to just refer to it as ''Thingy.'' The name just stuck, referring to it in private. Receiving a slight nod she sat down in her cushioned chair while he pulled the magical rubics cube of torture from a drawer under his desk. Going through the motions of unlocking the portions he had already decoded Silus then pulled a magnify glass enchanted to observe the flow of magic within an object. The bloody contraption cost a fortune at an auction at Gringotts, but had accelerated his understanding by nearly three times with little extra effort. For four hours the niece and uncle lost themselves in their projects. Silus rubbed his eyes and glanced at Selene. She had her tongue poking out of the side of her mouth, deep in concentration on something happening in the game. Shaking his head, he was glad that he had gotten it for her after lunch time. Almost time for dinner and his beloved niece has not said a word other than a few noises ranging from disappointment to pure joy. Looking back, through the glass he can see a troubling developement. The magic had begun to flow in all four cardinal positions. Luckily Silus progressed farther than he thought for the day before seeing a familiar sign of a road block. Everytime that Silus had either performed an incorrect pattern, the magic would spread out to each of the directional points. This was the main reason for his progress going as fast as it was with the enchanted tool. With each lock on the device being broken the intensity of the flow would diminish until he himself could no longer perceive magic within it. The box would essentially make itself feel like a muggle invention until a mistake was made. Once there was a false step the black cube would reset itself. And Silus would have to start all over again. "Selene what would you to e..." "I did it!" The sudden shout caused by his niece and her jumping towards him startled the wizard. His precision tonges stabbing into random places on the source of his slow torture. The horror of knowing that several hours were just wasted had Silus furious. Selene quickly saw the glare her uncle is giving her. Looking down, the young girl waited for her scolding but then saw something. Her uncles hands were glowing. Seeing her chance to escape his anger for messing up the thingy she started pointing. "Uncle. Uncle look. It''s.." Thinking that Selene is just trying to get out of a scolding, Silus didn''t look where she is pointing. "Selene do you know how long," Silus muttered under his breath. "Uncle your hands. Just look!" Slowly looking down he could see a crack. A wonderful separation in the boxes exterior. With an almost insane smile on his face, Silus carefully used the metal tools in his hands to open the container. Within held deep blue gem surrounded by crimson velvet. The perfect sphere was releasing a soft glow. Turning to his niece, Silus picked her up in a hug and started to spin her around in circles. "You did it!" Selene heard a joy in her uncle''s voice like she had never before. Only when she had first called him "Uncle Silus" did he ever get this happy before. Putting her down Silus turned to pick up the crystal to show her what it was. As soon as his fingers touched the surface however, something bizarre happened. A heart beat could be heard. The gem''s glow could be seen growing more intense in tandem with the beating. With Silus'' heart beat. Without having any time to contemplate what is happening the crystal stopped completely. Ethereal chains launched itself from where each finger tip met the gem. As quick as a serpent, the ghost metal wrapped around Silus'' fingers to meet at the back of his hand. In a panic, Silus snapped his hand back, but the chains grew in length. Silus could not escape from its grasp. Connection To New Host Established. Establishing Domain Theme: Basic Pokemon Chapter 3 Present Shaking his head, Silus cleared the past from his thoughts. Having his mind scattered would not help in dealing with the unknown, especially when magic was involved. Another tug from his niece spurned him to pick up his pace towards the ware house he had emptied in preparation for whatever was going to happen today. There wasn''t much in the beginning as it was only built two weeks ago to hold extra supplies so a day out of his schedule of moving boxes didn''t hurt. Ariving, the two were met by Gregory Bridget, his Chief of Security. Silus had asked the man establish a guard outside the storage unit to look out for anything out of the ordinary. The mystery of the orb was easily seen as a security risk, so Greg had been the one to do so personally. "How is it?" Turning to his boss, Chief Bridget spoke his all clear. "Almost like there''s nothing in there. Still, I can''t help feeling that something is...wrong anytime I open the door. Like the thing just does not want me anywhere near it." Giving the chief a knowing glance, Silus looked back at the massive storehouse. Hearing that the source of his anxiety had remained silent was both comforting and strangely concerning at the same time. On the one hand, there was no need to raise any alarm as it just sat there in the building he left it in. All the same, an artifact that could manifest magical construct by itself was just sitting there, potentially building up magic power. Sighing, Silus could only do what he and Chief Bridget discussed beforehand. "Selene and I are going in to start whatever it was that it wanted. Put everyone on alert and station all who can perform combat spells to the danger zones. All other personnel should either retreat to the muggle side or stay within their office until we give the all clear." Nodding, the chief turned to spread the order. Taking the time to watch him leave, Silus took deep breaths to make sure he doesn''t lose his nerve. Taking the lead for the first time in the last three days since the incident, Silus walked forward to open the door. If anything were to actually happen he will shield his niece with his own body. There was no way he would ever forgive himself if she got hurt from his actions. The door slowly creaked open to reveal a deep blue glow pulsing from within. The orb being the only object within the building, casting away all shadows. Taking one last deep breath, Silus walked forward towards the artifact. "Establish Domain," Silus ordered. Acknowledged Host Establishing Domain...Complete. At once the glow stopped pulsing and the light retracted into itself, casting the uncle and niece into darkness for a moment. Establishing Domain Core Room... The light shot up from the orb to the ceiling before spreading to every corner of the warehouse. For a brief moment Silus had to shield his eyes from the lights intensity, but after only a second he could feel magic. Looking around he could see magic physically manifesting from within the building walls. Amazed he almost missed the now named Cores next words. Domain Core Room Established. Like a single spark to a long line of gasoline, the cores magic could be seen physically as a wave expanding to all parts of the cavern. A ritual circle appeared in front of Silus on the ground between himself and the core. From it a woman rose. She hair as black as the night sky, wore an earthy brown robe etched with emerald greens and silver. Strangely she was about the same size as one the goblins in Gringotts. Opening her eyes, she glanced around briefly in confusion before locking on the sphere of mystery. Her small pupils widened in disbelief then smiled in excitement. Turning to Silus, the mystery woman opened her mouth to speak when she was interupted by the core. Host requires your assistance Companion. The first floors potential exceeds that which the Spacial Expansion Array within the cavern can sustain, resulting in a chain reaction of catastrophic failures within the array. Nodding to the core the woman flew over to Silus. It was only now that the wizard noticed that she had thin wings like what can be seen on dragonflies. Silus'' eyes widened in shock as he thought of what she could possibly be. ''But, that''s impossible. They were just myths,'' he thought. "We don''t have much time," she spoke in a suprisingly deeper voice than a what Silus thought a creature that size should have. "I need you to hold out your Crest Hand. Leaving everything else to me." Dumbly raising his hand, Silus'' lifted hand kind of hung there. The mysterious woman came up to him and started chanting in a language he did not recognize. Trying to drive the remaining panic from his mind he focused on dissecting what she was saying. From the pronunciation it sounded like a combination of Scandinavian, Old Norse, and something else he could not place. Finishing the final word she raised he hand to his own. From his wand hand, or Crest Hand as she had said earlier, the chains jumped and wrapped around her wrist. The five hooks sunk themselves into the center of the back of her hand, forming the same symbol as the one on his own. Domain Companion Successfully Linked To Domain Host. Running Emergency Measures. Asking it too many questions could cause problems at it will require diverting some of its attention away from the absrobed items. Although nothing is likely to be lost, the efficiency will greatly decrease." She clarified, recognizing that Silus would not want to waste time just to sate is curiosity. "Ah, understood." They both stood there awekwardly. "Um. If you don''t mind my asking, who are you? I am Silus Aster?" "And I''m Selene, Uncle''s niece!" The little girl jumped to grab their attention after having been forgotten during the whole ordeal. Smiling to the child the woman replied, "My name is Terra. Not very interesting as my greatest affinity is with Earth, but it is mine all the same." "Oh, what are you." Silus sputtered at his nieces rude question. Going to apologize to the now named Terra, he sees her just give a small giggle. "I''m a Spring Fairy from the Neutral Feys." Looking up, Silus asks what other factions of Fey there are. He could not remember what they were aside from the two most famous fairies, Oberon and Titania. "Well I am a fairy born of the Spring Court. The Four Fairy Courts are dictated by the four seasons. Along with that, a fairies magic affinity is based on which season you are. Spring is Earth as that is when plants and animals are flourishing with nutrients. Summer is Fire as that is when the sun is at its hottest. Autumn is Air as that is what blows the leaves while preparing the world for the cold of winter. Finally, the Winter Court is Water as the biting cold changes the rain to snow and ice." Silus nodded. Hearing her explaination on elemental disposition in fairies made sense as myths and legends always depicted them as being tied to nature. He just never realized how deep that connection went. "Following those are the three Fey Faction; the Seelie, Unseelie, and Neutrals. The Seelie and Unseelie are easiest to be described as the Growth and Rot of nature. The Seelie are primarily made up of the Summer Court, followed by an equal number of Spring and Autumn Fey, and a small amount of the Winter Court. The reverse is said for the Unseelie. Neutral Fey, however, are entirely different. They are the fey that do not directly associate themselves with either faction, be it their choice or exile. I believe you have already met some." Confused, Silus and Selene tilted their heads to the side. "Oh, apologies. When the core established the Mana Bridge to repair the fracturing array, I gained a basic access to your memories." Seeing his growing alarm Terra rolled her eyes. "Don''t worry. Not like I can betray you anyways as the linking of myself to the Domain as a Companion means I am obligated to assist it. Going behind your back would only draw you to not trust me and doing so will eventually lead to your death. And you dying means that the Domain loses one-third of its potential." Choosing to put off that bit about his death for later, the Host asked about what she meant by him having already met members of the Neutral Faction. "Gringotts. The Goblins that make up the bank are formerly Unseelie, Winter Court Fey that came to the Prime Plane for opportunity. They found themselves being too stifled and constricted within the confines of the Unseelie." Database Complete. Would Host and Companion like to view current item listings? "No thank you Core. She went into great detail on their role as magical purifiers, taking in the magical byproducts that all life forms naturally excrete into the atmosphere, into Ether. Said substance is what the muggles refer to as dark matter, the particle that makes up all unseen phenomenon. Of course the muggles have a greater understanding than just that, but that was what Silus had parsed from the explanation. Definitely another topic for the researcher to look into later. Terra explained, ¡°The purification begins by sucking in the ambient unclean mana within the domains surroundings through its entrance which are the only things that connect them to the world.¡± Silus widened his eyes at the implications of his Companion. ¡°Domains are their own worlds,¡± he whispered to himself. Looking back up he saw the fairy just nod in acknowledgement. ¡°And every Domain acts in the same way as a world, only difference is that they are ever expanding due to their intake of mana. You see processing Ether is extremely difficult for even the most powerful of Domains as very few in history have ever directly created a single drop of pure Ether. Instead what Domains do is they take the mana and categorize them based on their magical weight, essentially a mixture of power and requirements or consequences." Terra took a brief moment to think of a comparison for Silus to grasp. Having something that he already knew about would help him properly digest the information being dropped on the man. "I believe that is where the Wizarding World gained the idea for their magic classification of light and dark magic.¡± Taking a deep breath, his mind tried to understand what he was hearing. All this time he had believed what many witches and wizards did, light magic was good and dark was bad. Why would they ever think differently? To hear that something so basic that everyone in his society learned when studying magic was completely incorrect had fractured his foundation. ¡®How much could I have done? How far could I have gone in life had I ever known this,¡¯ were the thoughts running through Silus¡¯ mind. Allowing the Host to take in all that she said Terra, for the first time, properly inspected him. The man had a thin, but slightly muscled body that was well balanced across his figure. Brown hair just slightly overgrown, but having a subtle wild charm to them. What truly surprised her were his eyes. His eyes were slightly gaunt and sunken, like he spent a significant time of his life alone. The distrust and caution displayed in every flick of his gaze shook Terras heart. Even when the hazel eyes met hers it was dull and out of focus. "Is there really light and dark magic? Were we wrong even on that?!" Refocusing, Terra dissected the question. Seeing that he was starting to get a bit hysterical, she gave the best answer she could. "Elemental? Yes. Light and Darkness affinity magic is very much real, but just as with every tool neither is inherently good or evil. The darkness holds just as many predators as the light blinds the weak from those who would seek to manipulate them," Terra explained. Taking in her answer, Silus went through a great many of his memories. So much time spent huddled over books and referential material that were engraved in his brain. Slowly he started piecing together some theories on this new knowledge. "As much as I would love to sit here and answer your questions we do need to get a move on. The Domain does have to be permanently stabilized," Terra continued knowing that he would likely just sit there asking her more and more questions. "The first thing that you need to recognize is that each Domain has its own Laws," she said. "For this reason, each Domain possesses a Theme. The Theme is what judges how the impurities are sifted out and purified. By separating Mana into the Domains predetermined Affinities it can bring about life without breaking the Ancient Laws. "Domains are first and foremost separate dimensions. They have to establish for themselves as individuals from the Prime Material World or else they will be destroyed." Terra''s explanation shocked Silus. Seeing him opening his mouth to speak she cut him off. "The Prime Material World possesses its own will. I believe you are familiar with the God of Christianity, Catholicism, Islam, and all other related religions." It was a rhetorical question as she had seen into his mind briefly during the Mana Bridge. Of course, she knew that he learned about the muggle view on the brith of the world. Not even the purebloods are that ignorant of the outside world. "Well He is real." And queue the TNT explosion going off within his brain. "It is precisely for this reason that the Domains have Themes. Should they not He will destroy them for trespassing on his creation, only allowing them to exist as a lesser form anchored to His own. In fact, Hell was the first Domain to be established and likewise was the first to learn the hard way why the Theme was so needed." Looking a bit uncomfortable about talking about the Creator, she hurried through the topic. "Sin entered the world in the beginning and because of that Sin corrupts every Domain to be imperfect." Terra took in a shaky breath to collect her thoughts and ease her nerves. Silus could see that anything discussing God had her on edge so he decided to stay quiet. No point making his guide during this angry about something while she was explaining the basics of this new world he now lived in.If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. "Now yours is among the strangest of Themes as it was an idea created very recently. The concept of Pokemon has not even extended past 10 years much less the lifespan of a generation. This essentially means that your foundation is constantly changing based on how the source changes itself." Placing a finger on her chin for a moment, Terra pondered something. "Since it is a form of entertainment, you should try to purchase anything pokemon related that comes out. The Core will analyze each and add the relevant data to its archives, updating the effects on its Laws with each new process. Although I would caution on what things are to be introduced as one new addition to a concept can change the whole ideology." Thinking on that, Silus remembered what the clerk at the store had said. There were other pokemon games currently in stock. ''What kind of changes would occur if I add those to the Domain as well? Should probably go ahead and purchase those sometime this week,'' thought Silus. A snap broke his train of thought. Terra was had her hand right in front of his nose wearing an annoyed look on her face. A giggle also drew his gaze down as his niece could no longer hold it in. She was certainly enjoying how dumb her uncle looked at the moment. Feeling embarrassed, Silus scratched the back of his head. "Can we move on now?" Terra gave him a stern look as her arm came down to her side. She looked at Selene, who was covering her mouth in hopes of holding in her giggles, and starts laughing. That seemed to have broken the gates as the little girl immediately joined her. Faced with the two laughing girls, Silus could only look down with a blush and sigh. ''I have a feeling this is going to be a long day.'' And oh how right Silus was. The girls had spent quite a bit of time laughing and making jokes at the mans expense. Again and again Silus tried to divert their attention to the Domain, but all that seemed to do was spur them on more. Finally having enough, Silus decided to ask the Core if they could continue on. "Core, may we continue please. What is it that you require next?" The smallest hint of desperation to move on creeping through his voice. Host needs to choose the Biome of the floor. However, as the stability of the Domain has been called into question due to the uniqueness of the starting territory, Host must choose from the pre-requisites for the already established Ranch Biome. "May I view the list, Core?" An etherial blue rectangle appeared in front of him with a few options listed out. Sadly most were greyed out as they too possessed some unknown requirements, but he determined that they would become useful at a later date. Coming to the barebones, foundation Biomes he found only two out of the three that he could see would be to his immediate benefit. "Grasslands or Woodlands," The wizard thought aloud. His Companion and niece looking on in amusement. It did not escape their notice that all of this was to distract himself from his growing embarrassment. A quiet high five was shared between the two. Silus was deep in thought on the implications on how the two options would be set up. On the one hand Woodlands would be better from the various trees, but Grasslands are notorious around the world for being exceptionally large. His mind raced with the possibilities for both before he made his decision. Turning back to the screen, he slowly pressed his finger down on the Woodland option. Mind made up or not he cannot say he wanted to give a definitive answer with only the names as his information. Everything in his assessment was based on what were found in the real worlds Grasslands and Woodlands. Trembling could be felt within the Ranch floor as the new Woodland floor was placed on top of it. Suddenly a rush of magic could felt exiting their surroundings through the stairs leading upward. Into the newly established Woodland. The feeling of magic being sucked away lasted for another five seconds before finally calming down. A tense moment passed as everything on the floor darted their eyes, looking at for anything to happen. On the other end, the chief was giving out directions to his fellow magicals. Just the his presence alone had calmed many tightly wound nerves that day. A few of his colleagues had their wands out in hand just to feel the familiar wooden handle. This day would be remembered by all those who thought that with the Dark Lords defeat there was no longer anything to be feared. No longer will they skip out on the optional Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons that the former auror in front of them gives out during the weekend. Originally these were just to keep up their spell casting skills for when one of the magical carnivores somehow escaped their enclosure. Now? Now they felt an ancient artifact fill everything around them with so much magic it could be physically seen at their feet. The sight of the ground glowing from so much concentrated magic had never been recorded even the oldest of tomes. But it would also be the day that they felt the very power granted to them being taken away. Drained away by the very thing that had granted them such a beautiful sight. "Alright men! Stay within the building," Chief Bridget ordered. The older man had no desire to lose any under his care due to negligence while in an unknown situation. Rubbing his chin in thought, he called out to the most responsible of those assembled before him, "Tompson." The 24 year old muggleborn straightened immediately. Originally he had the dream of being the Minister of Magic, of wanting to help those by fixing the corruption from within the system. Sadly, he was met with the cold reality of what a corrupt government really was like. Job after job within the ministry denied to the young man for the sole reasoning being his pedigree. "Yes Sir." He would not let his mentor down. "I will leave you in charge of this group for the moment. I''ll make some round over to the dragon barracks before leaving for the nundu then manticore barracks. As much as I agree with the boss that we need to have some of our people stationed around those enclosures during all of this insanity we are blind." Bridget took a breath to compose himself. While he would like to sit down and figure out what is happening, he has men out by some of the most dangerous magical creatures in the entire Wizarding World out there. "Even the boss doesn''t have an idea what could happen while he activates that core. There is no way in hell I am leaving anyone by those things during all of this. That''s just waiting for the cages malfunction, especially now with all the magic getting sucked out of here." Looking down he mumbled to himself, "Don''t know if the charms will hold after all that." Turning to the door, he headed out. Yelling over his shoulder he said, "Can''t leave anyone to get eaten when we can do something. Anything!" And with that he was out of sight. Wizard, witch, and squib all looked at one another then to Jake Tompson. Not really knowing what to do, the young wizard just shrugged and comforted them at best he knew how. "Might as well get comfortable. Not like we can do anything without actually knowing what is actually going on." Looking from one another they too shrugged. Jake was right, what could they do. Nearly all of them were squibs with only one witch and 2 other wizards. That is a total of 4 wizards and 17 squibs collected all in one building with 15 different offices for the desk jobs. Plenty of room to find a chair and try to relax. Chapter 5 The trio of Silus, Terra, and Selene slowly made their way to the first floor of the Domain. Selene was tightly gripping her uncles hand along the path as she tried to maintain a strong facade. Silus couldn''t help admiring his niece as she was clearly frightened recalling everything that happened once the shock came out of her system. Terra was being patient and spoke in a gentle tone with the little girl, but there is only so much a stranger can do during an unknown situation to calm her nerves. Thankfully the fairy knew how best to distract and warm up to the girl, trying to improve the girls mood by even just a small bit. If the occasional small smile and giggles were anything to go by then it was working. Silus smirked to himself. Seeing his niece opening up to someone new was always an interesting sight to see. Selene can''t really be considered an introvert as she is far too energetic around those who she familiar with. However the girls personality changes, being quiet and shy towards any new face she meets. It has been something that has slowly been going away as the years progressed and new friends were made. Still the lingering shadows of fear and distrust can be seen in the girls eyes if you look close enough. Looking ahead of them, Silus could see a strange box-like building that was a blue and cream color. ''Strange. I don''t remember commissioning this built,'' he thought. As the three drew closer a contrast could be seen on the buildings design. Nearly everything that the blue paint touched was smooth and pleasing to the eye. After what would be the first floor a series of cream ridges that reached the dark green roof. Just as Silus was about to comment on the new building he could feel his arm start bouncing. Knowing why, he looked down to see his little niece giving an excited grin. ¡®Well looks like she recognizes whatever this is,¡¯ the wizard thought to himself. Giving her a look for her to begin explaining words started pouring out of her mouth. ¡°This is so cool! I didn¡¯t think it would just show up, but if more space just showed up that makes sense. Wonder what else is going to-¡° And with that Terra and Silus were lost as the girl continued on without actually saying what it is they were looking at. Seeing that she wasn¡¯t going to stop anytime soon Silus lightly coughed into his other hand to get the girls attention. Getting cut off Selene looked up to the raised eyebrows of her two companions. Blushing she stuttered before composing herself once more. ¡°W-well that looks like the Route Tunnels.¡± The three could almost hear crickets in the surroundings as her uncle and his fairy continued just staring at her. Clearly they expected to hear more than just that. ¡°Um, well the game is divided into different routes that each have their own Pokemon. Most times that a route changes there is something that you enter to cross between them. So um, yeah?¡± She looked up to her uncle with hope in her eyes that this was a sufficient explanation. Thankfully it seemed so. Nodding, Terra turned to Silus with understanding dawning on her face. ¡°Makes sense that this was first materialized. To get from the different floors or Routes as I guess they will now be, there needs to be something to separate them. This is to help with the management of each as well as ensure that creatures from the previous floors don¡¯t invade into newly established ones and ruin the balance.¡± Realizing how sensible it is that a mechanism be put in place to facilitate inter-floor travel Silus nodded as well. With the new information he narrowed his eyes to either side of the tunnel. At the edge of the building one can see a slight shimmer in the air which he now recognized to be the border of this floor. Taking closer steps oddly made the shimmering less noticeable. ¡°Perhaps this is just a formality?¡± Muttering to himself, Silus tried to walk through the boundary rather than through the established tunnel. Stepping up to the side fo the building he placed his hand on the wall as a kind of safety net. Slowly he crept forward, step by step, until he reached the invisible border¡And smashed his face against a wall. Landing on the grass, Silus rubbed his nose and was trying to ease the pain. Internally he was cursing the fact he could not see any visual indication that there was something in front of him. ¡°You know you could have just walked forward with your hand in front of you.¡± A snippy joke at his expense courtesy of Terra caused the man to jump to his feet and whirl around. Facing his niece and fairy companion the first thing Silus noticed was that both had tears in their eyes from trying not to laugh. Selene¡¯s cheeks were puffed out and squeaking could be heard through her attempts at holding back. The Domain Companion was marginally better with a hand covering her lips, but he could see the shaking in her shoulders that gave her away. Three words escaped his mouth in response. ¡°I¡¯m an idiot.¡± Analyzing what it was that his dear fairy had said made the man want to slap his face. ¡®Why did I just walk face first into a clearly invisible wall. Not like I didn¡¯t already know that something was there.¡¯ The Hufflepuff raged in his thoughts, wanting nothing more than to smash his head against the wall again for his stupidity.Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation. Thankfully his Chief of Security chose this time to report on the situation. Coming up from behind the girls, Gregory was jogging to along the path. The former Auror stopped in his tracks noticing a new face among the crowd. He looked towards Silus with a raised eyebrow and frown present, an unspoken question present on his face. Seeing that his employee was going to pull his wand out should he not answer Silus explained what was happening so far. Having lived in Magic Britain for most of his life the pure-blood was quite familiar with various forms of magical creatures, but seeing an actual fairy was not something that the man could have expected. Sure most magical at some point or another have seen lesser Fae like the various Pixies and the Goblins at Gringotts, but Fairies had not been seen for at least five hundred years and even that is contested. Wanting to ask more questions, Gregory opened his mouth to speak when he remembered why he was currently standing there. When shaking his head to forcefully re-align his thoughts didn¡¯t work, Chief Bridget stood at attention and began his report. He listed off the predetermined observation objectives first, in order of priority, then continued on his personal assessment of the situation. As Silus listened to the happenings of the creature reserve he found that strangely not much damage was sustained by the beasts themselves other than the initial panic from the social quakes. Although this is the ideal outcome there is a taste of unfamiliarity in the air of the situation. Never would any animal calm down so suddenly when there is a disaster occurring which only becomes worse when there are other species in the vicinity. His mind could not comprehend how it was that the more violent creatures would not just rampage within their pens to break out and reach a safe distance away. Terra decided that this would be the best time to break up the two and bring the discussion around to the original topic. ¡°Perhaps we should focus on the matter at hand? There is much that you will need to be briefed on to properly manage this Domain and fix all the problems are popping up.¡± Both men frowned at how quickly they lost sight of the issue right in front of them. ¡°Right, my apologies.¡± Silus apologized to her and Selene then turned once more to Gregory. ¡°Please do accompany us to the first floor-¡± Selene interjected that it was a route. Glancing at his niece, he continued in an annoyed tone, ¡°sorry route. We¡¯ll need an extra set of eyes to help analyze the situation.¡± Getting an ¡°yes sir¡± from the chief brought an end to that discussion. The four walked up the steps of the strange building that led to the first route. Reaching the top they saw that a pair of glass doors at the entrance. Selene, wanting to do something useful, ran ahead to push the doors open for her uncle. And received a clunk sound. Blushing, she slowly pulled open the door while the adults chuckled lightly at the innocent mistake. The interior to the tunnel rather plain. They walked on a brown rug that led to an identicalset of doors on the other side of the room covering a white tile floor. In between there was an empty reception desk that are commonly used in muggle business office buildings with a blue counter top and details. The sides and ceiling still kept with the cream color that was seen outside with a dim yet calming light. Overall the place was rather underwhelming when considering it is the passageway between routes. ¡°Hmm, not bad.¡± Terra contemplated with a hand on her chin. The little fairy was sitting on Silus¡¯ shoulder, when she got there the man in question did not know. ¡°Honestly it could be worse, you could be stuck with a boring staircase like what most start with.¡± ¡°What do you mean start with,¡± Silus questioned. Not even looking at him the fairy explained that every Domain automatically establishes an indicator that one is traveling between floors. She however also mentioned how rare it is that the automated system actually gives something personalized to the overarching Type of the the core. Normally most are given stone stairs of various quality until they can pay to change it. ¡°Regardless,¡± the security officer broke in. ¡°We should get this over with as quickly as possible.¡± The man was in a hurry to return back to those under his charge. Silus agreed and decided to go first. Pushing open the doors to the first route resulted in the squad seeing a small area of sparsely placed trees. ¡°Is that it?¡± Similar thoughts echoed in the heads of the others. ¡°Core, how big is the first route?¡± Learning from earlier, Silus just decided to ask through his connection to the magic orb. Route 1 is currently an acre in size. And that was it. That is what all the problems came from? Surely not. ¡°Core why was there so many issues if this is just one acre?¡± Each floor, now renamed route due to the influence of the Domain Type, is rated by potential. However, there needs to be an established pre-requisite to draw upon. Depending on the Route Theme it will absorb part of these foundational floors to facilitate a possible evolution or merger of routes. Further explanation can be found within the Domain Guidebook. Well great. ¡°And where is this guidebook?¡± The guidebook can be viewed in the Core Room. ¡°Are there different copies for Domain Host and Companion?¡± This came from Terra as it seemed that she had not heard of this either. There are additional copies for Host and Companion. There are different editions that can be obtained at later dates with updated and advanced information. Both those connected to the core sighed at how it seemed they would be doing a lot of reading in the coming future. Silus saw this as the perfect reason to return to the constant headache that never seems to go away. Just as they were turning around to leave, the Host stopped in confusion. Floating in front of him was a box of text from the Core. Beginning Monster Generation¡ Synchronizing Domain Type¡ Complete Synchronizing Theme¡ Complete First Spawn Rarity Increase¡Complete Assessing Adequate Power Level¡ Complete Pokemon Selection¡Complete Generating Pokemon to Route 1. Awaiting Host permission to proceed. Well this will be interesting.
