    "Apathy is a lack of feeling, emotion, interest, or concern about something. It is a state of indifference or the suppression of emotion such as concern, excitement, motivation, or passion,¡± said Dr. Salwick Michigan.


    "Even with all the reasons, I just said. Is an apathetic person can be less human than us? It can be or not, Afterall some people show emotions such as compassion, kindness but still are cold-blooded killers. Would not this make them less human than anyone else, having emotion and still only caring about their bloodthirst? Killing people for fun and not caring for anything else. At least an apathetic person does not try to kill people, neither for themself nor for anyone else." Dr. Salwick Michigan ended his speech with thunderous laughter looking like the cold-blooded person he mentioned in his speech.


    Everyone in the lecture room looking at their professor like he is a psychopath. At the end of imagining Dr. Salwick as a psychopath. Everyone in the classroom started to churn their brains to think about what was just said. Why Dr. Salwick is comparing an Apathetic person to a cold-blooded killer. Ultimately both situations are related to mental illness or some kind of mental trauma. What particularly Dr. Salwick trying to say?

    "Dr., you said an apathetic person has a lack of emotion or interest in things. Does not that mean if they see a person dying on the side road, they are unable to save that person since they do not care about that person? For them, that person is the same as any other animal dying on the side road. Then what is the difference between the two?" asked Cher Steinfeld.


    "Well, Miss Cher first and foremost let me clear the basic misunderstanding you are having. Let us think a person is feeling hurt when he sees an animal dies but he is more than ok to eat their meat on a different occasion. Well, if we think about this in a more detailed manner. Why a person who felt hurt watching an animal die is more than ok to eat their meat?" asked Dr. Salwick to the class.


    "Dr., there are many reasons for that. First of all, it could be someone''s illusion to think he is hurting cause he did not want to feel bad. For example, when we see someone begging we do not want to give them money despite that we still gave them some because we did not want to feel guilty. The same thing can be said when we are feeling hurt towards animal deaths cause we do not want to feel guilty for their death. We do not want to own their death and just want to move on with our life. Well, I do want to add that not everyone feels like this." answered Mora Rae.


    "Great observation Miss Mora, anyone else."

 Chapter 2: Debate

    "Dr., I do not agree with Miss Mora''s observation" Cher Raised her voice.


    Dr. Salwick looked towards Cher. "What do you mean by that, Miss Cher?"


    "Dr., just because we eat them and at the same time felt hurt watching them die does not signify that we are just trying to run away from our guilt. I felt Miss Mora needs to change her observation on that one."


    "Can you elaborate it for the class, Miss Cher?"


    "First, I want to be clear on one thing, that is when we feel hurt. It is because we do feel empathy. We are not trying to run away from our guilt."


    "But how do you explain, that we also eat them without any sense of guilt," Mora interrupted Cher in between.


    Cher looked towards Mora. "Let me complete myself, Miss Mora. You will get your answer," Cher turned back to Dr. Salwick and continued. "So, where I was. Yeah, we do feel empathy. We are not running from our guilt. So, why are we okay with eating them as our food? You need to understand that humans are eating animals since the day evolution started. You need to understand that, this is our second nature which we cannot change ourselves unless we were taught about this from the beginning. For example, some people are vegetarian. Why do you think some people abstain from eating animals?"


    "Miss Cher, are you saying that people after all these still relying on basic survival instinct, and that is why we are eating meat." Mora looked towards Cher and retorted.


    "I am not saying we are still relying on our survival instinct to eat meat. It is more like eating meat is become a part of our habitat. When we were kids, we saw our family eating meat. We also start eating it without any thought. Even if we belong to a vegetarian family, we see our friends and colleagues eating meat. We get curious and ended up trying it once. Which leads us to continue to eat or unless we can stop ourselves later on or in the first place." Cher ended her speech looked towards Mora.You might be reading a pirated copy.     "But that does not mean we..." Mora was unable to retort back anything and remain standing there.


    "It is okay, Miss Mora. You can sit down. Miss Cher, you did a great job explaining your observation and thoughts." Said Dr. Salwick looking towards them. "Anyone else wants to add anything" Dr. Salwick looked towards the rest of the class and expected some answers, but he got nothing in return.


    "Alas! Looks like I need to explain, but I have when I have to explain everything. It is always better if I give them clues, they utilize those to find a close enough solution. So, they develop the idea of thinking things. In the end, I give them the solution. So, that they can compare how close they reached by themselves but whatever I will help them this time." thought Dr. Salwick.


    While Dr. Salwick was in his thoughts, someone raised their hand.


    Yes, you want to add something, asked Dr. Salwick looking towards the guy who raised his hand.


    Guy nodded his head. "Before today, I never thought about this or more like I never cared about this topic. But, after listening to Miss Cher and Miss Mora. I did come to some conclusion."


    ¡°What conclusion you reached?¡± asked Dr. Salwick.


    ¡°I came to two conclusions and they both are pretty much the same,¡± Guy said ¡°First either we are running away from our guilt, or Second, we never cared about these things in the first place.¡±


    ¡°What do you mean by specifically by things?" Dr. Salwick interrupted.


    ¡°I mean the idea that everyone just continues to consume meat without acknowledging the fact, that we are eating killing animals or eating dead animals.¡± He continued. ¡°As I said, I came to these two conclusions, and if these are our only two options, then what is ultimately the difference between the two. If it is the first situation then it is clear that we humans only want to see things how we like, not caring about anything else. If it is the second situation then it means we never cared about anything outside ourselves in the first place. Is not both the situation the same in this regard. We either never cared about it, or we know it but never cared to change it" after speaking, He sat down on his seat.


    Everyone was looking towards him like he told them that the world is coming to end, even Dr. Salwick was shocked. While Mora was looking happily towards Aren, Cher was contemplating with a frown face.

 Chapter 3: Debate Continues

    "Dr., I feel like we are missing the point," one of the students stand up from their seat and spoke.


    "What do you mean, Mr. Chris," asked Dr. Salwick?


    "I meant to say that the question you asked has forced everyone to miss the point. You questioned us why we consume meat while still feeling hurt when we see them die. That question is essentially two different questions. The idea of humans consuming meat is normal, just like a tiger eating a deer. So, where does the difference come from? Well after centuries of hard work and development had given ourselves a thing called morality. Morality is a good thing, this is the thing that differentiates us, Humans, from Animals.," answered Chris.


    "So Mr. Chris, you are saying that question is fundamentally flawed?" asked Dr. Salwick.


    Chris nodded his head, "Yes Dr., what you said did have a point in itself, but those two are different things. For Example, let me use Miss Cher''s example, why do we give beggars money. We gave them money, yes that is true. But does everyone do that, no only the wealthy and show-off do that. People do that because they are more than ok giving away a few bucks but if you ask, will they allow them to live in their house or support them every day. No, it is not possible. Does that mean, now we are feeling guilty since we no longer helping them? Do we feel bad rejecting them this time? No, we do not because our morality only asks us to help them to a certain limit. We do that to become better humans to help others, not to become a puppet of someone else. The same applies here in this case, we should feel hurt and help an animal when we see them hurt. But should we give up on consuming their meat? No, this is everyone''s personal choice we all are food to one other, does a tiger would not eat human meat if he is hungry."


    "Dr., I do agree with Chris, we do have a responsibility to help them and protect them to a certain level. But that does not mean we cannot consume them." Mora gave her support.


    "Anyone else wants to add anything," Dr. Salwick asked, looking at Aren and Cher.


    Cher raised her hand. Dr. Salwick nodded towards her.


    "Dr., I agree to a certain level to what Mr. Chris said. But that does not change the fact that we still eat them without any remorse," Cher questioned.

    "Yes, Miss Cher, let me ask you a question why do you think it is wrong for us to eat an animal," asked Chris.


    "Because we are killing them," Cher answered back, thinking this guy is an idiot.


    "But we are also raising them. If we let the animals live in the wild, they are still going to die, right. So, is it not ok? If we raise them, give them a place to live until we kill them. At least they got to live a better life." Chris replied.


    "So, you are saying we are doing them a  by killing them," Cher looked straight into Chris''s eyes brimming with anger.


    "We are doing them a  by giving them a home, and we are taking it back once the time is up," replied Chris with a calm voice.


    "Does not that make us worse than a murderer," said Cher with almost tears in her eyes.


    "It does not, Miss Cher. Do you feel hurt when you kill a mosquito or if someone kills a rat or a spider? We do not, it is a part of nature. The way Chris said might have looked wrong, but it is the truth." It was Mora who answered that question. After listening to Chris, she finally got her head back.


    "Yes, Mora you are right. I might have come to a little aggressive Miss Cher, but it is the truth we do not need to feel wrong about killing them," said Chris


    Now Cher felt like she has nothing left to argue back. But suddenly she saw the ray of hope.


    Aren raised his hand, looking at Dr. Salwick.


    Dr. Salwick nodded his head.


    "I think rather than saying whether it is okay, or not okay to consume meat. I think the question should be, is it necessary to consume meat. If it is, then there is no question left. But if it is not, then we are just arguing with each other. Because it comes downs to personal interest, whether you want to consume meat or not, rather than it is right or not." answered Aren


    "You mean it is neither correct nor incorrect to eat meat. It is a difference in ideology," Questioned Chris.


    "Yes, since eating meat has become such an important part of our diet that completely removing it is impossible, but changing it with time as possible. So, this question comes down to the majority or minority. If the majority say it is okay, then it is okay. If the majority say it is not, then it is not," answered Aren.
