《Fire and Stars》 Chapter One Reagan was stared at the campfire. She had green-grey eyes with blonde hair with brown roots. She looked above the campfire at Jackson. Jackson was a CIT at the Wildflower Camo. The camo Reagan went to. Reagan loved going to the camp since she was six. That day Reagan was 12. The Wildflower camp made Reagan want to become a botanist. Jackson was the most handsome boy at camp at least to Reagan. He was fifteen with darling blue eyes and ginger hair. Jackson was also the most popular boy at camp. Reagan stopped looking at him and asked for another marshmallow. After the campfire, Reagan was asked to clean up for Poppy Cabin. The other boys and girls asked to help clean up was Tina for Leopard Lily Cabin, Joey for Bush Poppy Cabin, and Jackson for Peony Cabin. Jackson extinguished the fire with water from a blue bucket. Reagan picked up her cabin''s plates as did the other kids did. They had to walk to the cafeteria to throw away the plates. Jackson was grabbing the marshmallow bag and the graham cracker box. They walked up to the trash and threw the objects away. Then a sound of a cracked branch arose. "What was that," Reagan asked with a scared voice. "Relax, kiddie," Joey responded with a mean tone, "Someone walked and crushed a branch. Ooooooo scary." "Hey, she''s just a little kid enough," Jackson said. Reagan felt insulted and embarrassed that her crush would say that. They walked back to their cabins. Thankfully the moon was a new one so no one could see Reagan''s blushed face. Another branch cracked surprising Reagan. Yet Joey, Jackson, and Tina weren''t surprised. Reagan thought that it was because 14 to 16-year-olds were allowed to stay later than 9 to 13-year-olds which were 75% of the campers. Reagen felt her bladder filled. This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings. "Hey, I have to go to the bathroom do you mind staying here," Reagen asked them. "Why," Joey asked her in response. "Don''t you get she''s a kid she''s scared of the woods?" Tina told Joey. It was surprising hearing Tina talked since even though their cabins were often grouped Tina never really talked near Reagan. "Sure," Tina said. "Fine," Joey said. "Sure," Jackson said. Reagan walked for a while in a simple straight line. She found a near tree and went to the bathroom. She looked around to see if anybody was near. She was thinking about how the other kids think of her as just some little kid. She heard another branch cracking and quickly zipped up her pants. She then heard Joey screaming. She ran back to the spot she had left Joey, Jackson, and Tina. Then she heard Tina screaming making Reagan run faster. She then heard Jackson screaming. Reagan was at the same spot and saw nothing. Not blood, not the kid nothing. Reagan decided to run back to her cabin. Reagan ran to her cabin. Reagan was so unfocused she almost tripped every other minute. Reagan finally saw the girl cabins. Even though the Poppy cabin and the Lily Leopard cabin were grouped there were also two other girl cabins, the Black Sage cabin, and the Golden Star cabin. Reagen made a relieved sigh. Then out of her side, a hand grabbed her and dragged her into the trees. Chapter Two Penelope passed a sign that said, "Welcome to Witter Springs". Penelope was going to Trinamil University. Trinamil University wasn''t an important university but it was a university Penelope wanted to go to. Penelope drove for another ten minutes until ending up to her dorm. She looked around and went to the third dorm building. As she walked she saw other kids either saying goodbye to their parents or just going to their dorm buildings. She was distracted by a girl with purple and pink hair with icy blue eyes. Then Penelope smacked into a pine tree. "Ow!" She said. It didn''t bring that much attention but a few people were staring at her. She shyly got up and continued walking to her dorm building. Penelope got there and unlocked her door. There she saw two beds one with covers and pillows one empty. On the side of the room with the made bed there were lacrosse items and team photos. Penelope started to unpack. Then the girl from outside came in. "Hey aren''t the girl that smashed into a tree?" the girl asked. Penelope nodded. "You okay?" she asked again. "Yeah, I''m fine. So two questions, what''s your name, and are any of the drawers filled out?" Penelope questioned. "Amber and no you can put your clothes in," Amber responded. "Thanks," Penelope said. Penelope unpacked while Amber sat down and played with a tennis ball. When Penelope finished unpacking she went on and started making her bed. "So you like lacrosse?" Penelope asked Amber. "Yeah, it''s how I got into the school by a lacrosse scholarship," Amber answered. The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation. A wave of silence hit the room. Amber and Penelope stared at each other for a time. As Amber smacked her lips Penelope left the room to go to the bathroom. When she got back to the room the wave of silence remained. "So, you want to grab lunch?" Amber asked. "Yeah, hey I passed through a restaurant called The Morning Diner should we go?" Penelope asked half mumbling. "Yeah sure. You know I''ve only been here a few days and only enlisted in the university because my top choices rejected me and I have family in Witter Springs so I don''t know much about this town." Amber aforementioned. "Yeah, yeah okay," Penelope said embarrassed. They left their dorm and went to Penelope''s car. Since it didn''t seem like Amber had a car. They went to the diner. The Morning Diner was this typical United States diner. It was pretty small with only a counter and some tables. The girls sat down near a window. Penelope ordered a burger with extra onions while Amber ordered pancakes in the middle of the day. Penelope was confused as she had never seen anybody eat pancakes at lunchtime except for a sitcom character. "You ordered pancakes?" Penelope asked in disbelief. "Yeah, you''ve never seen anybody eaten pancakes during lunch or dinner?" Amber questioned. "No, it seems ridiculous to me," Penelope answered. "Ridiculous, you are the one eating a burger with a hell amount of onions," Amber responded jokingly. Penelope smiled back. "Yeah, that''s fair. I''ve learned to tolerate onions because my sister hated the smell of breath." Penelope said jokingly. Amber let out a small chuckle. "Hated? Did your sister learn to tolerate or-"Amber stopped talking after she saw Penelope''s smile gone. "Oh sorry, my brother''s dead too," Amber said. "It''s fine," Penelope said with her smile returning. Penelope took a huge bite out of her burger which left mustard and ketchup on her face. Amber and Penelope''s attention then went to the window as a man started playing a beautiful melody on his guitar. Chapter Three Penelope woke up to hear running water. Today was Penelope''s first day of school. Penelope got up and dressed in a pink striped shirt with black leggings. She put her blonde hair in a ponytail. Penelope went to the cafeteria as she volunteered for cafeteria duties. Penelope entered the cafeteria. The cafeteria had five tables. She went to the kitchen. When she turned on the stove, she saw something interesting in the fire. She saw her sister screaming face in the fire. Reagen seemed tortured. Amber was shocked and dropped an egg on the floor. Penelope turned the stove off and then turned it on again to see if it was still there. There was nothing. She grabbed a paper and got another two eggs. After an hour Penelope went to her dorm to get ready for her first day. She got her backpack and kept thinking about what she saw in the fire. She walked to the university building. She went to her business class. For another hour she tried to pay attention, she tried to forget what she saw, she didn''t want to ask questions. Penelope knew she was going to get butterflies in her stomach but these weren''t butterflies these were scorpions that kept stinging her. This wasn''t a nervous feeling this was an anxious feeling. A feeling that kept stinging her to ask questions. After her first day of school, Penelope decided to go to a physiatrist. She got an appointment for Thursday three days from now. At night Amber asked Penelope if she to go stargazing. Penelope said yes so, they went to Evergreen Park. It was more of a camping site than a park and huge. They drove with another two of Amber''s friends. A guy with a buzz cut who looked in his late 20s and a girl with a pixie cut who looked like a child instead of a 19-year-old. When the car stopped, everyone stepped out, and Penelope stopped the radio from her driver''s seat. Amber ran to a young man and started kissing him. The man looked like a man in his twenties. Penelope boiled with anger and envy.Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. "Come on, James'' tent is over there," Amber stated while pointing at a red-orange tent about medium-sized. They all walked to the tent. The guy and girl went off to get snacks from the vending machine in the park office. That left Penelope alone while Amber and James making out. Before Penelope got any angrier, she left while rolling her eyes. Penelope went to walk by the picnic tables. Penelope was alone and looked up at the stars she saw a knife in the stars. It was just a knife but there was no knife constellation. After thirty minutes, Penelope had sat down for ten minutes of Amber and James making out, they left. Penelope sat in the driver''s seat while Amber and James said goodbye. Penelope drove to the guy''s house then to the girl''s house. Then Penelope drove to her and Amber''s dorm. On Thursday at five, Penelope went to her psychiatrist appointment. She got there and waited for twenty minutes. When she was called, she met, Dr. Matthais. Dr.Matthais was a forty-year-old with brown eyes and gray hair that sat on his head like fuzz. Dr.Matthais and Penelope talked for an hour. "Well, Penelope I''ll talk with some of my colleges and see if you may have schizophrenia." Dr.Matthais stated. Penelope nodded and Dr. Matthais helped her with a door. Chapter Four Penelope read the email from Dr.Matthais. It said that no, she did not have schizophrenia. Penelope was confused although, Dr.Matthais said Penelope should check in with him. Amber walked up to Penelope. "Hey, what''s wrong?" Amber questioned. "I don''t have schizophrenia," Penelope responded. "Isn''t that a good thing?" Amber inquired. "Yes, but then what''s the answer for all of this," Penelope replied angrily. "For all of what?" Amber asked. "Nothing," Amber said, "You know what, I''ll just go." Penelope left angrily while Amber stared in disbelief. Penelope left to go outside for some fresh air. She went outside and saw an arrow in the stars. As she followed the path, dusk turned to dawn. The path led to a lake. The lake looked blue and clear. Penelope looked around as if the stars hypnotized her. Right across the lake, there were cabins. She saw a sign that said, Wildflower Camp. Penelope remembered that day. She was in a diner when everything first started. She was with her friends when her mom started calling, her. She ignored all of her calls, but when she got home, she heard the news. Her sister had died. It was two weeks ago. Penelope hid in her room until college. Wildflower Camp was the place her sister, Reagan, died. Penelope started shaking. She got her phone out and started calling Amber. A few minutes later, Amber picked up her phone.Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings. "Hey, you still use your phone as a phone?" Amber asked. "Yeah, I guess I do," Penelope replied, still shaking. "Anyway, where are you?" Amber questioned. "I''m in the forest," Penelope answered. "What, why?" Amber questioned. "I don''t know. I''ll send my location, okay?" Penelope said. "Okay," Amber said with a questioning tone. Penelope ended the call and send her location to Amber. Thirty minutes later, Amber came and picked her up. Penelope saw her blue car and opened the door. "How the hell did you get here?" Amber asked. "I don''t know," Penelope answered. Amber looked around and saw the sign. Her face turned to shock. Amber then looked back at the steering wheel. "We''re at Wildflower Camp?" Amber asked in disbelief. "Yeah, why?" Penelope questioned. "Why the hell are you here in the first place?" Amber asked in anger. "I tell I don''t know. Maybe I''m having a nervous breakdown." Penelope answered in a surprised tone. "Nervous breakdown? What emotional connection do you have to this place?" Amber inquired. "My sister died here," Penelope responded. "My brother died here," Amber stated. They looked at each other with wondering faces. "My sister died two weeks ago," Penelope stated. "Mine too," Amber stated. "The four dead campers in Nothern California," Penelope said. Amber nodded. The four dead campers in Nothern California were a newspaper headline. They looked at each other and then Amber drove off. They sat there and a wave of silence flooded the car. Amber and Penelope got to their dorm and were still silent. "Who was your sister?" Amber asked. "Reagan," Penelope answered, "Who was your brother?" Amber answered with, "Jackson." Chapter Five Penelope got to her bed and asked Amber, "How did Jackson''s death affect you?" "I still don''t talk to my parents." Amber answered. "Why?" Penelope asked back. "My parents made him go to camp." Amber replied. "Did he care for it?" Penelope questioned. "He learned to, but if my parents on the first year didn''t make him none of this would have started." Amber stated. "I think the killer would have still been the killer even if your parents didn''t force Jackson to go to camp." Penelope said in an aggressive tone. "Whatever." Amber stated, "So how did Reagan''s death affect you?" "Weirdly enough, I talked to my parents more than ever." Penelope stated. "Then why don''t you call them?" Amber asked. "I need my space and they''re okay with it." Penelope responded. "That''s unrealistic," Amber stated. "To you," Penelope said back. "Why do you date him?" Penelope questioned. "James?" Amber asked. Penelope nodded and Amber continued, "I don''t know I just do."The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. "I''ve never dated anyone. How is it like?" Penelope asked. "It''s nice. I''m thinking more about it. I think I date James because he''s cool and just chills out with me." Amber answered. "Cool." Penelope said. Amber nodded. Amber started the car and they went back to the dorm. Amber got out of the car. Penelope followed. Penelope decided not to go to the dorms for a minute. Penelope saw a round man with dark brown hair and eyes. He looked like a kid she knew from high school. High school, Penelope started thinking about how she never kept up with her high school friends. It had only been a week so; they should respond her. Penelope went to her dorm and emailed her friend, Jenny. Jenny was the only of her friends that answered her email. Penelope emailed, "Hey what''s up." Penelope decided to get dinner since Jenny would probably be off playing tennis. Penelope started thinking about it and the more she thought about her hobbies she realized she had been too focused on college so; she should try getting back into her hobbies. Penelope''s old hobbies were soccer and designing dominos designs. Penelope had been too focused on her interior design major. Penelope went to one of her boxes to get her dominos. "Hey, can I set up my dominos?" Penelope asked. "You set up dominos and create fun designs?" Amber asked. "Yeah," Penelope answered. "Cool, I''m going to hang out with James but when I get back, I want to see it." Amber said. "Yeah, okay," Penelope said. Amber went outside and Penelope started setting up the dominos. An hour later, Penelope set up a small domino design. It was just a small shell design with red dominos. Penelope quietly waited for Amber. Penelope started cooking some quesadillas. Penelope liked her quesadillas very well done. After, Penelope made her quesadillas and ate them, Penelope waited for more time for Amber. Amber came after an hour. Since it was 9 pm Penelope was on her bed watching a Halloween movie. "Hey, did you make the design?" Amber asked. "Yeah, turn on the lights." Penelope said. Amber turned on the light. The small shell design lay on the floor. Penelope flicked the dominos and the dominos fell. "Good, job," Amber said. "Nay, it''s nothing, anybody can lay dominos." Penelope remarked. "So, going to bed now?" Amber asked. "Yeah, let''s go to sleep," Penelope said. Amber changed into black shorts and her biggest grey shirt and climbed into bed. Penelope, who was already in her pajamas, turned off the lights and climbed into bed. Chapter Six Penelope woke up and dressed up. She put on a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a pair of short boots. Penelope went to the dorm cafeteria. Penelope saw Reagan again in the fire as she was cooking eggs. She looked around and poke Reagan. Reagan didn''t respond. Penelope put a pan on the fire. Penelope didn''t want to see this. Penelope hated this. Penelope just wanted to ignore this all of this. Penelope thought about it and she would. She would forget all about this. This was just a bad first week. Every other week in this college year was going to be a good week. Reagan was dead period. Penelope continued to cook the eggs. She finished cooking all the eggs and brought them out to the buffet tray. Penelope saw that the cafeteria almost opened. Penelope went to start the line. The other volunteers got in line after her. The janitor opened the door and Penelope started getting food. Penelope grabbed a plate and grabbed sausages with a fork. She went to get some oranges and blackberries. Then she got some pancakes and put some peanut butter on them and went to sit on a table. A volunteer sat with her. The volunteer had a plate full of fruit and a glass full of milk. The volunteer had raven black hair and a sharp nose. They were wearing a yellow dress, leggings and sneakers. "Hey, your Penelope, right?" she asked. "Yeah, and you are?" Penelope asked. "Isabella," the girl answered. "You go to my graphic design class, right?" Isabella asked. "Yeah, Professor Renald is a huge baby," Penelope said mockingly. "I know right and he talks about his relationships way too much," Isabella said, both of the girls started laughing. "Like dude, get some friends," Penelope. The girls started laughing. "It''s almost time to go." Isabella said. "Yeah, let''s eat." Penelope said. Isabella and Penelope ate in quiet for some time. Isabella finished eating and waited for Penelope. Penelope finished and they walked out. Isabella got her skateboard and Penelope went with her.Stolen story; please report. Isabella skated slowly for Penelope. "When did you learn to skate?" Penelope asked. "Around five years earlier. My first boyfriend taught me." Isabella answered. "Cool," Penelope remarked. They walked quietly to their first class. Penelope and Isabella sat together this time. Penelope thought more about it. Yes, Reagan died, she can''t see her. Reagan is gone. After class ended, Penelope and Isabella went to different classes. Class after class, Penelope reminded herself that Reagan was dead. Eventually, Penelope went to her. She started hearing about her favorite band. Penelope thought about Isabella, about how they were going to see each other in the graphic design and in a week, they were going to volunteer together. She heard the door unlock and though Amber would enter alone. She heard James'' voice. She got up. "Oh, hey, Penelope," Amber said, "Hey, no offense, could you go out, me and James want some alone." "Sure," Penelope said hiding all her rage. She walked out of the dorm and went to a restaurant. She hated James, not because he was a bad person but out of jealousy. Yeah, Penelope liked Amber, but didn''t know if she liked girls. Penelope knew she was jealous and knew James was probably a good guy. Penelope went to eat at a piazza place. Penelope ate alone. Penelope couldn''t stop thinking about Reagan or Amber. She loved how Amber was just herself, how beautiful and radiant she is. She also couldn''t stop thinking about Reagan. After she ate, she went outside, she looked outside and yup saw Reagan. Penelope went for a small walk. Chapter Seven Penelope walked and kept seeing Reagan. No, a normal life, Penelope thought. Penelope thought that maybe she should answer it after all, then she could have a normal life. Penelope walked a bit more. She eventually went to the dorm. James was gone and Amber was sleeping. James was gone but, Penelope saw Amber''s clothes on the ground. Penelope quickly changed her clothes and went to sleep. That morning Penelope texted Isabella. She texted her that she was going to her dorm. Penelope changed to a sweater and boots. Penelope walked over to Isabella''s dorm. She knocked on the door. Isabella took a while to open the door, but that wasn''t a surprise it was seven am and no one should be visitor ready at that time. Isabella finally opened the door. Penelope and Isabella greeted each other. "So, what is the situation again?" Isabella asked. "My sister''s gone and she''s haunting." Penelope said. "Okay, and what do we have to do?" Isabella asked. "You just believe me?" Penelope questioned. "Yeah, I''m agnostic and I believe you so, why not?" Isabella asked. "Kay, we need to go to the Wildflower Camp. It''s a camp near here." Penelope answered. "Okay, let''s pack everything we need for this trip." Isabella said. "Okay we''ll need food and water." Penelope said. "Ok, let''s make lunch, dinner, and some snacks." Isabella spoke. Isabella and Penelope went to the dorm cafeteria. Isabella had the keys since she volunteered every day. Honestly, if Penelope had known she would have been able to get the cafeteria keys if she volunteered every day, she would have sign up to volunteer every day. Isabella unlocked the door and they entered. Isabella made the ham sandwiches, which would be wrapped in foil, while Penelope got some fruit, in plastic bags, and granola bars. They put it at all in a bag. Then they went ahead and made some dinner which they decided was going to be turkey wraps wrapped in foil. They finished and packed. Isabella called an Uber and we entered the Uber. The driver drove for thirty minutes. They got there and left the car. Isabella paid the driver.Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. The walked into the camp. The camp seemed like a ghost town. Everything was vacant. "We need to make a fire." Penelope said. "Okay, maybe, I should have asked some more but, why?" Isabella asked. "I saw her in fire and stars." Penelope answered. "Okay, I definitely should have asked more." Isabella remarked. "Follow me," Penelope said. Penelope walked into the forest. She walked for a few minutes and Isabella followed. Penelope saw two small branches and started trying to make a fire. Penelope tried and tried. She started to get angrier and angrier. Isabella saw this and remarked, "Um, maybe we should comeback in the night-" Isabella was interrupted from leaves rustling in a tree. A woman came out from the tree. The woman yelled, "You don''t have to. I''ll help you." "Who are you?" Isabella asked her. "I am Juniper, a master of Hearth Magic." she said in a rather rough voice. "A master of what?" Penelope asked. "A master of Hearth Magic. It is the only magic on Earth. Hearth Magic is the magic that harnesses the hearth or heat of Earth." Juniper explained. "Heat? Is that why my sister talks to me in fire?" Penelope questioned. "Yes," Juniper answered, "I will start your fire and I''ll explain Hearth Magic to you." Chapter Eight Juniper hold her hands and then opened them. A small fire appeared and Juniper held it in one hand. Juniper then balanced the fire on her index and middle finger and threw the fire on some branches. Penelope thanked Juniper and Juniper started to talk, "Here now, let me explain hearth magic. There are casting fires and alone fires and heats. You start a casting fire and then you say the spell into the fire. You understand." "Yeah, um, why are you telling us this?" Penelope asked. "You need this information to talk to your sister." Juniper answered. Juniper walked to the fire stand down. Penelope and Isabella followed her and sat down. "Your sister needs you," Juniper continued, "Your sister needs you to identify her killer." "Do you know who killed her?" Penelope asked. "No," Juniper answered. "You have magic and you don''t try to help my sister?" Penelope asked. "Look kid you need to do this-" Juniper commanded before being interrupted. "Why can''t you?" Penelope questioned. "Why shouldn''t you do this?" Juniper questioned. "Because you can do this easily and quickly." Penelope remarked. "Just do this kid." Juniper commanded. "Fine I will," Penelope yelled, "But no thanks to you. I''ll just wait until stars appear and..... and....and? Okay I might need your help." "Kid, I''ll talk to your sister and we can start our journey, okay?" Juniper requested. "Okay," Penelope answered. "How do I talk to her?" Penelope asked. "Let me cast a communication fire, okay?" Juniper asked back. "Okay," Penelope responded. Juniper casted a fire and then talked into it. The fire became a dark green. Juniper grabbed the fire in her hands and made contact with the other fire. Once they contacted the fire exploded and turned green. "Dear Reagan, your sister is her. Please tell her the information she needs. You are safe. We are alone. Please come, please talk." Juniper spoke. "Hello," a voice said. "Reagan?" Penelope asked. That was the same voice. The sweet, young voice. The voice that loved chocolate, that loved her family so much. "Penelope!" Reagan screamed, "I love you, sister. Help me, help me, relief my spirit. Catch my killer." Reagan continued.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. "What?" Penelope questioned. "Catch my killer. I''ll give you a clue although it will be in a riddle. Don''t give that look, I want to try it. It lives in the woods, hidden in the trees, near the abyss we play near." Reagan said. "What?" Penelope asked. "I can''t tell that''s the point of the riddle." Reagan answered. "Why are playing in an abyss?" Penelope asked. "It''s figurative." Reagan answered. Then Reagan disappeared and then the fire exploded and left. "Great," Penelope laughed, "There''s Reagan." Isabella looked at Penelope, smiled, and said with a light tone, "She seems wonderful." "She is," Penelope remarked with a smile. Juniper slowly walked away. Juniper turned around after walking for a few steps and said, "I''ll be near the heart of the forest." Juniper casted a spell through a spell and disappeared. When she disappeared, a great fire blazed then quickly disappeared with her. Penelope and Isabella looked at each other. ''Heart of the Forest?'' they thought. They shrugged. Penelope looked at the floor for a minute. She started to scratch her chin. "My sister said that the cooks were emotionally dead. What if Reagan meant near the cafeteria?" "Maybe, let''s go," Isabella remarked. "Ok, Reagan told me it was 880 yards north or half a mile north of the Poppy Cabin," Penelope said, "Let''s walk a little and find Poppy Cabin." "Ok," Isabella remarked back. Penelope started walking outside the trees. Isabella followed her. Penelope then walked south. Penelope kept walking south. She started turning rights and lefts. She still couldn''t find it. Though, she found the back of Peony Cabin. Penelope looked around and found a sign that read The South Cabins. Penelope walked to the front of the Peony Cabin. Isabella continued following her. Penelope went over by the sign. It was in the center of the south cabins. ''There''s the dirt path." Isabella spoke. Penelope looked north and saw the dirt path. "Let''s follow it." Penelope commanded. Penelope got onto the dirt path. Isabella followed. They walked for a few minutes and then found the cafeteria. Chapter Nine Penelope looked around the entrance of the cafeteria. "What now?" Penelope asked. "I don''t know? Maybe we need to attract the killer." Isabella said. Penelope and Isabella looked at each other. Then a strong noise of anger surprised them. An animal dragged Penelope. Penelope saw the face of a deer made out of leaves and twigs. The deer''s eyes were nothing but fire and light like little suns. The deer''s antlers were white twigs. The deer was covered in brown leaves like a normal deer would be covered in fur. Penelope started yelling as hard as she could thinking it would startle the deer. The deer started running as hard it could and then slammed Penelope''s body into a tree. Penelope slowly fell down to the floor. The deer tried to stab Penelope with its twig antlers but instead cracked its antlers. The deer ran away. When it was running the antlers grew back through light as a part of the antler appeared in light then it became the solid twig. Isabella heard the deer run away. Isabella ran to Penelope. Once she saw Penelope''s body, she ran to find Juniper. It took more than hour but, eventually Isabella found her and told her about Penelope. "I can''t heal her." Juniper said. "What do you mean you can''t heal her?" Isabella asked in a tone full of anger. "I mean I''m only a fire summoner." Juniper answered. "What?" Isabella questioned. "I have a question, did Penelope see her sister''s messages without summoning?" Juniper asked. "Of course, she did." Isabella quickly answered. Juniper had a surprised look on her face. "Then she''s going to be okay," Juniper said. "Here let''s go back." Juniper summoned a fire and called a spell. The fire then jumped around to lead them. Juniper ran with Isabella. Juniper and Isabella went to Penelope''s body. Penelope was awake and in pain. "What?" Penelope asked to Isabella and Juniper staring at her. "You''re a balancer," Juniper said in serious tone. "What?" Penelope questioned. "In this system of magic there are two types of summoners. A fire summoner and a light summoner. It is the easiest to be a fire summoner because for fire all you need to summon is your anger but for light summoner you need to summon your inner peace. Light summoners are less common for that reason. Balancers have to do both. Reagan''s death in some way allowed you to do that and Reagan gave power to help use your skill." Juniper explained. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. "What was that attacked me?" Penelope asked. "A resurrame," Juniper explained, "A soul that has been kept alive by a summoner in the mortal world. If I''m right Reagan wants you to release the soul of that deer and then her soul will be released." "Is Reagan a resurrame?" Penelope asked. "Yes, there is two ways a soul could become a resurrame. The first way is that a summoner can kill a being and then cast a capture spell on the being. The second way is that a soul can asked a summon to place a capture spell on them." Juniper explained. "I think Reagan contacted a summoner from the nearby village." "What do I have to do to the dear?" Penelope asked. "You have to find the deer and kill the body, capture the soul, and let the soul go into the light." Juniper answered. "Can you do that?" she asked. "Yes," Penelope answered. Juniper nodded and Penelope nodded back. Juniper disappeared with the fire like she did before. Penelope and Isabella looked at each other for a few minutes. "Can you get up?" Isabella asked. "Now, I can." Penelope responded. Isabella took out her hand and helped Penelope up. Penelope wiped off the dust from her clothes. Chapter Ten Penelope started walking. Isabella followed her. They walked for a few minutes. Penelope started thinking about how to bait the deer. ''Someone killed it,'' Penelope thought, ''It''s angry, it hates humans. I need to bait it with anger but not kill myself.'' "What are you thinking?" Isabella asked. "How to bait the deer." Penelope answered. "Should we eat and sleep then you can think about it?" Isabella questioned. "Oh, I''ve forgotten," Penelope said. Penelope stood for a second and looked up. The bright crescent moon was shining in the dark blue night sky. Penelope stood there for another minute. Once she relaxed her stomach grumbled. "Yeah, I could use some food." Penelope said. "Ok, let''s find some place to eat." Isabella remarked. Isabella looked around and saw two trees alone and together. "Can you cut those trees with your powers?" Isabella asked. "Maybe," scarcely responded. Penelope got closer to the two redwood trees. Penelope grabbed her hands together. She slowly opened her hand and released the fire to the bottom of the right tree. The fire sawed through the tree. The tree collapsed forward. Penelope smiled. Penelope did it again with the other tree. Isabella started smiling too. Penelope and Isabella sat down on the trees. They had their sandwiches and their fruit. When they were done eating, they decided to take a nap. Penelope dreamed of hugging her sister. Penelope thought about it more and more. If Reagan came back, what would that do to the Earth. It might sound overexaggerated but, that if what she thought. What if Penelope needed to kill someone to get Reagan back? What if she wasn''t powerful enough to get Reagan back? ''Why is Isabella helping me?'' She thought to herself. ''I mean, maybe, she''s just nice,'' her thoughts continued, ''It''s just why hasn''t she left yet? This is so dangerous anyone would leave now.'' Penelope was grateful that she was helping. Penelope didn''t want her to die. Penelope herself thought she might die. Penelope slept for more time. She woke up with the sun shining in her face. This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings. She heard an engine running. Penelope sat up and looked around. She nudged Isabella to wake her up. Isabella slowly woke up. "What''s wrong?" Isabella asked. "Do hear that?" Penelope asked back. Isabella looked around. "An engine?" Isabella remarked. "Yeah, there''s a car here?" Penelope questioned. "Maybe, we should focus on baiting the deer." Isabella said. "You''re right but, still maybe, we should see who''s here." Penelope stated. "No, we have to do this." Isabella commanded. "Ok, let''s go to the cafeteria to bait the dear." Penelope remarked. Penelope and Isabella rose up and started walking. Between the time they walked Penelope started a conversation, "So what''s your family like?" "Oh, I don''t have a very good relationship with my parents but, I love my siblings." "Oh, that''s bad to here. My parents love, sorry you don''t have that love." Penelope said. "It''s fine, my other friends support me enough." Isabella remarked. "That''s good. Why do you have such a bad relationship with them?" Penelope asked. "Oh, I''m a lesbian and they don''t like that." Isabella responded. "Me, too. I guess I''m lucky." Penelope remarked. They reached the cafeteria. "Now what do we do?" Isabella questioned. "We draw attention to us." Penelope responded. "How?" Isabella asked. "We yell, we make noise," Penelope responded, "or..." Penelope casted a ball of light and fire. She made it not as big as she could have so not to draw human attention. Penelope and Isabella heard leaves rustling. Penelope hid and left Isabella alone. She hid beneath a tree. Penelope put the ball in front of Isabella. The deer came running to her. Right before it could hurt Isabella Penelope cast the spell. The ball of fire of light exploded and so did the deer''s body. The leaves and twigs collapsed onto the floor. A small ball of light and fire escaped. Penelope went closer to the small ball. It should have blinded her. Penelope couldn''t look away. Chapter Eleven "What do we do with it?" Isabella asked while Penelope kept staring in awe. "I don''t know," Penelope responded. "Can you take the power?" Isabella asked, "I mean how else are we going to bring the soul to light?" "Let''s ask Juniper." Penelope answered. "Yeah, okay, but what are we going to do to that?" Isabella questioned. "Um...here I''ll think of something," Penelope responded. Penelope let the ball float into the air. She closed her eyes and casted a fire. She thought of a spell and released the fire onto the ground. The fire floated downward and picked up air and leaves. The leaves arranged themselves into a cube. A cube a little bigger than the ball of fire and light. The cube wrapped itself around the ball. After the cube wrapped itself, it fell straight down to the floor. Penelope grabbed the cube. Penelope and Isabella nodded to each other. They started walking with Isabella leading. Isabella knew where to find Juniper from earlier. They heard footsteps come near. They looked at each other for a minute. Penelope signaled to Isabella with an eye movement to start running. Penelope and Isabella started running. Quickly, Penelope started running out of breath. Isabella looked at her for a moment to as say, seriously? Penelope stopped and shrugged at her. Isabella slowed down. "Why are you running from me?" a familiar voice asked. Penelope looked back and saw the pink-haired Amber. Amber was wearing a flannel with a black shirt underneath that had a full moon on it, black jeans, and red sneakers. "What are you doing here?" Penelope asked back. "You weren''t here for two days, I was worried." Amber answered, "What is that?" Amber pointed at the cube. "It''s actually a long story," Penelope responded, "You probably don''t want to hear about it but it explains a lot and is kinda weird." "I feel like I should probably hear about it." Amber stated. "Ok, so there''s this magic system about light and fire and basically this is a soul. There''s a really long version of this but I don''t want to overwhelm." Penelope answered.Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. "Can this soul bring my brother back to life?" Amber questioned looking at the cube. "Maybe," Penelope responded. Amber looked at the cube for another second then as soon as she could took the cube. Amber started running with it back from where she came from. Penelope and Isabella looked at each other confused about what just happened. Penelope started chasing after Amber. Isabella followed. Penelope started running out of breath but continued. She continued to think about how this is the only way to let her sister go and that pushed her to continue to run. Penelope started to see Amber''s car. Amber opened her car. Penelope couldn''t let her go. Penelope ran as hard as she could and grabbed Amber''s flannel. Penelope made Amber slam into the car door. Penelope looked at Amber angrily and made her drop the cube. Penelope grabbed it but as soon as she did Amber slammed her body into Penelope''s. Amber grabbed the cube and then kicked Penelope away from the car. Amber got in and started driving. Penelope grabbed her stomach in pain. Isabella ran over to Penelope. "Are you okay?" she asked. "No," Penelope responded with sadness. Isabella hugged Penelope. Penelope hugged back and started crying.
