 Chapter .5: Prologue

    <h2 style="text-align: center">Before the fall, before the storm came.</h2>


    The cool air of the fridge washed over me, relieving me of the summer heat. I grabbed a beer and juice pack¡ªA fruit punch flavored caprisun. ¡°Catch.¡±


    The beer flew through the air. Hitting its mark dead center¡ª The forehead of my beer awaiting friend, Frank. The can clanked as it hit the wood floor. ¡°Ow!¡± Frank rubbed his forehead ¡°Why did you have to do that?¡±


    ¡°Oh, says the one who always makes me get them a drink, every time I get up¡­ even worse I paid for those drinks.¡± I verbally jabbed at Frank.


    Frank reached down and grabbed the fallen beer; He cracked the can open, and gulp down the cool beer, ¡°Haaah¡­ Fair point.¡± Frank shot me a toothy grin.

    I let a slight grumble as I moved over to the coach, opening the caprisun on the way.


    Sitting down I looked over to my bud Frank. Dammit. I can¡¯t bring myself to hate him, even if he¡¯s a lazy shit around me. He¡¯s always been with me since we met in training.


    Turning my attention to the T.V. We were watching a zombie apocalypse movie¡ª I think it was called [I am legend]. I took a sip out of my caprisun; I was trying to cut down on alcohol intake after the accident.


    ¡°Hey.¡± Frank turned to me, sipping his beer, ¡°I wonder, how long would I last at the end of the world? I think you¡¯ll probably survive a few months. What do you think ¡±


    I intensified my sucking of my juice; finishing it a second later. ¡°Well, I''m pretty sure I will survive longer than a few months. And to answer your question, You¡¯re liver will keel out way before the zombies get to you, if you keep on drinking like that.¡± I poked at Frank''s slight drinking problem.


    Then a sudden burst of cold hit me. Frank exploded like a blood filled water balloon; Strands of flesh and shards of bone hitting me, I covered my eyes to protect myself.


    My shirt shredded as the bone flew into me, piercing my exposed flesh, imbedding itself into my muscle.
