《The Dragon Princess》 Chapter One Chapter One BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. "Ugh! Five more minutes." BEEP. BEEP. BEEE- "Oh, shut up! Who set you up anyway?" My hand ils about knocking down things in the pursue of finding my rm clock. When I finally find the clock, I give it a hard tap. It stops its awful beep noises and I snuggle backfortably into my pillow. I hear the door to my room open after a few peaceful minutes and footsteps tiptoe in. I lift my head up groggily to see who when a loud high pitched screech res in my ears. "What the-" THUD "KYLE YOU STUPID MORON!!" I seethe from the floor. My voicees out muffled because of the nket that I got tangled up in when I fell from the bed. His chuckles could be heard as he raced down the stairs in light thuds with what I guess was an airhorn. Nobody. Nobody messes with Ellie early in the freaking morning. Unless you got food. Then maybe you have a five percent chance at forgiveness. I groan and untangle myself from the snuggly nket I am trapped inside. Deciding to make myself presentable first, I walk into the bathroom. Finishing my business, I open the door with a little extra force than needed. "And it goes - Oh! Oh! Oh! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" I bob my head to the music and dance my way into my room again. "One. Two. One, two, three - and we danced all night, to the best song ever!" Original content from N?velDrama.Org. I shimmy into a pair of high waisted ck jeans and a long-sleeved white shirt with the saying, ''Just wing it. Life, Eyeliner, everything.'' "Where are you hiding? Where are you- AHA!" I pull out my favourite white sneakers with ck stripes at the sides and slip them on. I strike a pose at my floor length mirror and give myself a once over. My eyes finally rest on my hair and I sigh, grabbing the hairbrush. When I finally tackle my hair into a ponytail, apply lip gloss and mascara, I smile and stand back, giving a thumbs up to my reflection. I run down the stairs two at a time. The heavenly aroma of pancakes fills up my senses. I smile knowing my Dad is at his kitchen duties again. "That smells amazing Papa bear. Got a new recipe from your cookbooks?" "Why, thank you princess! And yes, I actually did." Dad gives me a warm smile. I stack three pancakes on a te, add lots of syrup and plop myself onto one of the kitchen stools. "Hey there little sister, had good sleep?" Cole lightly punches my shoulder and gives me a toothy grin. "I would have if a certain someone hadn''t spoiled it for me." I re at Kyle who promptly sticks his tongue out at me. "I was just getting you to wake up. You would have missed dad''s pancakes if you werete." "You didn''t have to blow a freaking airhorn on my face!" I say pointing my fork at him. He eyes the fork for a moment before shrugging at me. "I wanted to check if it still worked." "Are you kid-" I start but Dad cuts me off. "Alright, alright shut it both of you. Kyle do not do it again and Ellie, your brother is an idiot. Let him be." I throw a victory smirk at Kyle who gapes at Dad in disbelief. "So, you wanted to tell us something dad?" Cole nods his head at our father. "Ah yes. I am leaving for a business trip tonight.¡± He starts. I open my mouth to interject but he shushes me. ¡°Yes, I know it is Christmas, but I am so sorry pumpkin, it''s really important. I will back on time to open presents. Hopefully." He ruffles my hair. "Does that mean we get the whole house to ourselves since Mrs. Marty is going away to see her family?" Kyle says excitedly. Mrs. Martinez or ¡®Marty¡¯ as we call her, is our housekeeper. She has been with ever since we were children and basically acted like a nanny to us when neither dad nor nana were around. "Of course not! Your grand-" The sound of the front door opening shifts my attention. "Missed me lovelies?" A voice rings from the hallway. "-mother will be here to take care of you lot." Dad finishes and we all look up to see Nana grinning at us. She ces her bags near the stairs and turns to us with her arms open wide. "Nana!!" Kyle and I attach ourselves on her, almost knocking her down in the process while Cole settles for a calmer side hug. "I see that my babies missed me dearly. Don''t you worry kids, we''ll have lots of fun with the old man out of the house." She flicks her thumb towards Dad. He frowns in response. We finish our breakfast talking and making ns for Christmas. Dad leaves to pack and get a few things from the store. Nana pulls the three of us into the living room. "I got your jumpers!" Nana tells us as she pulls out three knitted woollen jumpers of the colours blue, ck and red. Nana always makes us jumpers every Christmas for as long as I can remember. It started as a hobby and soon settled in as a tradition. They were soft and extremelyfortable and not one of those cringy, ugly ones that you see on movies either. She hands the blue one to Cole, the red one to Kyle and the ck one to me. Each jumper had our initials on the front in an impressive cursive swirl. Mine has ¡®E¡¯, Kyle has ¡®K¡¯ and Cole has ¡®C¡¯. "They are lovely as usual. Thank you so much Nana." Cole tells her and kisses her cheek. She smiles and pats his head. "Where''s the rest of your lot?" "They should be here any minute now." Kyle answers. The doorbell rings just then and I get up to answer. "Nana was just wondering about you guys." I say as Hailey, Melissa, and Jason troop in. They are mine and Kyle¡¯s friends from school. We have been best friends ever since middle school. Jase and Kyle were in the same ss and graduated togetherst year and decided to take a break year before college. The girls and I graduate this fall. "Are wete for the jumper ceremony?" Melissa asks eyeing my jumper. I take a bag from Hailey and smile. "You''re just on time." Chapter 1: Intro: Hello! Chapter 1: Intro: Hello! Hello there! "Mother? Mother, what is happening?" Princess Elina asked frantically as she ran towards the Queen. "The kingdom is on fire. Dark wizards and soldiers are everywhere. You need to leave the castle. Right now." "No mother, I won''t leave you here alone. I will find Father and get him to help us." The little five year old replied with determination. She gripped her mother''s hand tighter as another st went off at some part of the castle. Elina didn''t know what was happening. There was a hugemotion all around the castle. But why would a sudden rebellion start in the kingdom when they had been living in peace and harmony for centuries? Her thoughts were interrupted when the door to her room flew open. Armed soldiers who clearly didn''t belong to the Kingdom of Corona trooped in. Thest person who was in, however, was very familiar to both the Queen and the Princess. "My my, the Queen and the Princess together? My luck isn''t so bad after all." The man in front of them wasn''t the same one who brought Elina presents on her birthday or sneaked her out of the castle when he went horse riding despite her parent''s disapproval. He wasn''t the one who read her stories at night when her parents were too tired from the day''s work. He wasn''t the Uncle Eric Alwin Hudson Dragna she knew. No. It couldn''t be. Standing before her was a savage monster thirsty for power and money. His otherwise warm brown eyes were zing with a strange red hue. His brown hair was tousled and face deathly pale. A sneer yed on his lips as he watched his sister-inw and niece with a calcting look. Queen Genevieve draped an arm around her daughter and pulled her closer to her own trembling body. N?vel(D)rama.Org''s content. "Not another step forward Eric or I will not hesitate to use my powers on you." Eric Dragna cracked a smile and fixed his eyes on the little shaking body beside his sister. "I''m not here for you Genevieve, dear. What I want is the little bundle of powerful magic you have with you and the throne she will inherit when she is older." Before any of them could utter another word, the door was opened roughly. But this time it was the soldiers of Corona with their bloodied ck and red uniform and steel armors with the royal crest. Leading them was King Trystan Dragna. "Father!" The Coronian soldiers charged forward at the flick of King Trystan''s wrist. In themotion, Queen Genevieve managed to usher the Princess across the room to her husband. "Are you both alright? Did he inflict any harm?" The King let out sigh of relief when he found them unharmed and pulled them into his arms. "Your Highness, we cannot hold him back for much longer, he''s too strong for us." One of the Coronian soldiers called out. "Genevieve, take Elina and escape from the castle. Ride Fin and get the child to Agatha at any cost. We cannot lose her. She''s our only hope if things don''t go our way tonight. I will not die knowing that the kingdom has gone into the wrong hands." King Trystan fished a dagger from the belt around his waist and pressed it in Queen Genevieve''s trembling hand. "For your defense." He bent forward to ce a swift kiss on his daughter''s forehead. "Stay safe for me, pumpkin. I love you." Bright honey gold eyes, identical to King Trystan''s own golden orbs brimmed with tears as the little princess wrapped her arms around her father''s neck. "You too. I lo-" A loud growl from Eric Dragna cut her off mid-sentence as he ripped his sword from the now dead soldiers'' abdomen. King Trystan got his own sword in position as Queen Genevieve grabbed Elina and left the room as quickly as she could. A sharp stab of pain struck her, starting from her stomach and travelling all throughout her body. Her back hurt, but she had to do this for her daughter, her people. From all around her, Elina could see blood and hear cries of terror and pain. She wanted to yell at them to make it stop. With whatever energy the Queen had left, she teleported them to the Royal stables. The scene wasn''t any less loud or bloodier. In fact, it only seemed to increase now that they were outside the pce walls. The stable was on fire and they could see the stable helps and soldiers rushing, cutting ropes and dousing water on burning beams, letting the housed dragons and horses free. "Fin!" Queen Genevieve almost cried in relief when she found her dragon safe and unscathed. Not all dragons were invincible or immune to fire. Only those of the fire elementals. Fin was a water elemental dragon, hence her apprehension. The dragon in question roared in answer when he noticed his master. The queen helped her daughter climb up onto Fin''s mighty shoulder and strapped her in the saddle securely. She ced the reins in Elina''s hands and gave them a quick reassuring squeeze. Elina watched in mild confusion as her mother unsped the sacred amulet from her neck and sped it around her own. She opened her mouth to ask her why but the Queen shushed her. "Listen to me carefully baby girl. I need you to keep this amulet safe for me. Whatever happens, do not take it off. Now follow this path to reach the pce gates. Fly across the vige until you reach River Avalon. Once you reach the river bank, look around for a Guardian. Her name is Agatha and she will be waiting there for you. Don''t stop until you get there even if somebody asks you to. Understand?" She instructed. Queen Genevieve ced a cold shivering hand on Elina''s tear stained cheek, wiping away a tear as it fell. "What about you, Mother? Father?" She asked. The noises around them seemed to get louder by the second. Queen Genevieve gave her daughter a small but beautiful smile, one Elina didn''t know if she would ever see again. The queen''s honey gold eyes filled with fear and panic, glistened with tears. "We''ll be fine pumpkin. And so will you. Your father and I are ready to put our lives down to protect you and this kingdom''s future if we have to. Remember this, you are beautiful, brave and so strong. You make us so proud and we love you with our whole heart. That will never change even if we aren''t there to remind you everyday. You will grow up into a fine youngdy and lead this kingdom to prosperity. I am sure of it. But for now, you have to leave. Protect yourself. That horrid man will stop at nothing until he gets what he''s after. I will miss you, baby girl. Remember that I will always love you okay?" She hugged Elina tight and kissed her forehead softly. Elina breathed in deeply, taking in her mother''s warmth. Queen Genevieve pulled back and pat Fin''s body. "Stay safe." She took a step back to allow Fin to ascend. "Your Majesty, look out!" Queen Genevieve moved out of the way just in time to avoid the whole right side of the castle tower from crashing down. "Mother!!" Princess Elina held the reins tightly in her hands as she frantically tried to spot her mother amongst the gathering dust from the fallen rubble. Fin flew up steadily dodging the flying debris and boulders. If Elina was shocked at the scenario inside the pce grounds, she was bbergasted and utterly miserable when she got a view of the burning vige. People were trying to escape and everywhere she turned, the orange red hues of the mes that enveloped Corona in its tight scorching grasp was what she could see as far as her vision would go. Her heart beat harshly against her chest that she was afraid it was going to pop out. ''Don''t stop until you get there, even if somebody asks you to.'' ''Stay safe for me pumpkin.'' "But I cannot let my kingdom go to ruin right in front of me. I wasn''t trained so much for nothing. I wasn''t gifted with such powerful magic for acting like a coward. I know I''m too young to be of major help but anything will be wee by these people right now." Princess Elina was determined. Her eyes glowed a brighter shade of gold as she steered Fin towards the ground. Fin growled in protest, but the princess was having none of it. "We have to help them Fin. I can''t let them die when I know I can do something to help. And something tells me that I shouldn''t ignore what I feel right now." Atst Fin obeyed her order and descended. Elina could feel the heat scorching her skin but it didn''t harm her. She may be just a child but her powers out matched even the Guardians - the highest ranked mages who had the power of irvoyance . For what seemed like ages, Elina helped people put out fire and mber upon dragons, which took them to the portals and dropped them to the neighboring kingdoms of Eleandra and Avrael. Just as she helped an olddy up on Fin, she heard an anguished cry and a shout for help. With whatever energy she had left, Elina ran towards the sound of the shouts. She found a boy of her age shaking the body of a woman. His face was wet with tears that seemed to glisten from the light given by the fire burning down his house. "You have to let her go. She won''t wake up." Elina said softly, cing a hand on the boy''s shoulder. He shook his head and held her even tighter. "I can''t leave mother here. Even big brother is gone. He said he would be back soon but he still hasn''t come." The boy croaked. A fresh set of tears streamed down his face. Elina felt her heart ache at the sight. "Please, you will die if you stay here any longer." "Just go on without me. It doesn''t matter." "No you don''t understand, I cann- Watch out!" Chapter 3: Prologue: Part Two Chapter 3: Prologue: Part Two Elina coughed and pressed her palm against her stomach where she felt a burning pain. A piece of wood had lodged itself into the side of her stomach. Blood now coated her hands and her already bloodied tunic. She heard the boy suck in air at the sight and feebly opened her eyes. She was growing weak and tired. Her energy was drained. the glow in her eyes was merely just a flicker now. "Save yourself. Go. I''ll heal soon." She said softly and tugged on his shirt which was starting to get crimson from her bleeding. His unusually bright blue eyes which reminded her of the ocean, stared at her own honey gold ones rather unsure. Slowly his grip on her loosened. He let go of her and got up. Elina slowly propped herself against a pile of stones, the only remains of the house that once stood in its ce. She hissed in pain as she carefully took out the piece of wood. She would heal but with her energy drained out, she doubted if it would be on time. She was sure one of the dark soldiers would find her and kill her even she managed to heal. She bit her lip hard, drawing blood, when a sudden shoot of pain coursed through her body. Though a great mage, she was still a five year old child who barely reached up to the height of her father''s waist. This belongs to N?velDrama.Org - ?. Beings that possessed magic like herself were much stronger and grew up fasterpared to the humans - mentally and physically. Though they did stop ageing normally once they reached the adult age. She wondered if Fin would find her and take her to the Guardian Agatha that her mother mentioned. Elina was almost in an unconscious state when she felt something wrapping around her stomach. "Can you stand?" It was the same blue eyed boy, she realized with a start. "Why are you still here?" Elina squinted at him. "You saved my life once, it''s now my turn to return the favor. My mother taught me that a Prince always puts his people and kingdom before himself." ''Prince? From where?'' Elina thought to herself. "My dragon Fin should be around here somewhere. You should be able to recognize him by the royal crest on his saddle. He''s a mixture of green and blue." She told the boy, her voice barely above a whisper. "I think I see him. Come on, just a little farther." The boy was strong for his age. He supported Elina''s weight on his back and managed to walk them to Fin without getting spotted or burnt. He helped Elina onto Fin and hauled himself up, a momentter. Elina was surprised that Fin didn''t object. He usually didn''t take well to strangers. "Fin find the Guardian, you should be able to see her at the end of river Avalon." Elina told the dragon, who at once pped his huge wings and took off the ground. The boy wrapped an arm around her waist to keep her from falling and kept his other hand on the reins. For some reason Elina felt safer being close to him even though she knew they were far from it. Her consciousness was held together by a thin thread which was ripping by the second. "Stay awake." The boy whispered and shifted Elina in his arm. He was easily an inch or two taller than her which made it a little easier for him to keep his grip. No sooner had they reached when a woman who looked to be no older than in her twenties, with long raven hair and bright silver eyes, swiftly walked towards them. Her eyes widened when she took in Elina''s state. "Princess Elina! Gods, quick boy follow me. This is getting out of hand too quick." Agatha quickly saw to that Fin was properly nursed before grabbing a few bottles off shelves. "She''s the princess?" The boy asked in a surprised tone. "I thought you would have recognized by the shade of her eyes. She''s Princess Elina Madeleine Aurora Dragna, heir to the throne of Corona." Agatha said as she dabbed a dark blue substance on Elina''s stab wound using a white feather. Elina groaned and slightly squeezed the boy''s hand which she held tightly in her grasp. "It''s alright. It''s over now. You''re okay." ''Will you be alright as well?'' The boy''s eyes shot wide open when he heard her voice in his head. ''No that can''t be right. Must be my imagination.'' he thought frantically. "That should do it. We better get goi- Are you alright boy?" Agatha looked at the boy staring wide eyed at Elina. "Y-Yes I''m quite alright. Where are you taking her?" He asked Agatha, still looking at the princess lying in front of him. Agatha gave him a once-over and observed his face. "Somewhere far, far away. She will be safe there." The old witch replied as she packed a little bag. The boy''s heart dropped. "Will shee back? What will happen to us?" "When the time is right, she will. It is not the nature of a Coronian princess to abandon her kingdom." After a pause, Agatha ced a small duffle bag onto the boy''s hands. "It has enough food and money tost you for a while. Take Fin and leave through a portal at once. It''s the tree with silver red leaves. You should be able to spot it quite easily. Fin will know. I hope you will go back to your family safely." The boy clutched the bag in one hand and looked at the other, which the sleeping princess was still holding. "Thank you. Stay safe as well." Agatha nced at him for a split second before proceeding to wear her thick hooded cloak. Something mysterious danced in her eyes as she eyed both of them. While she wasn''t looking, the boy bent down and kissed Elina''s cheek lightly. "Stay safe Rora. May we meet again someday." He whispered. He gave her hand a little squeeze and gently tucked it to her side. As the Guardian climbed onto her dragon, she looked at the blue eyed boy, who sat on Fin waiting for Agatha to take off. "What your name, boy?" "It''s-" But what his name was, Agatha never got to hear, for at the same time, they heard loud yelling and pping of wings. "Search the forest. Quick. I need that girl alive." "It''s time. Goodbye boy, thank you for all that you have done. One day, Corona will look up to you and bow their heads in respect." She said cryptically. The boy gave Agatha a small smile and watched as she took off with Elina safely tucked into her cloak. ''Until we meet again, Rora.'' Chapter 86: Epilogue Chapter 86: Epilogue Two Years Later The Crown Prince rubbed his eyes to get rid of sleep. He had so much paperwork toplete the night before that by the time he reached his bed, the sun bashfully peeked from behind the snow white clouds. "...you will also have to look into the new recruiting program for the Royal Army that begins next week, Your Highness." The chief butler and Aiden''s appointed advisor, Alfred said. "The recruiting program will take in willing females of all races. Please, let the ministers know that it is the one rule that I will not take any moreints on." He said firmly. This belongs to N?velDrama.Org - ?. "Indeed. That is all for today, Your Highness." The Butler said, gathering a bunch of parchment in his hands. "Thank you for your hard work, Alfred. I don''t know what I''d do without yourpetence." Aiden praised. He rose to stretch his legs. "It is an honor, Your Highness." Alfred said. He turned around to leave but paused. Aiden noticed his hesitation and waved his hand for him to speak. "Will you be visiting her today?" The Butler questioned. A smile subconsciously graced Aiden''s lips at the thought of her. The question sounded rather silly to him. There hasn''t been a day that passed by without Aiden visiting her. In fact, he made sure to keep his schedule cleared out in the evenings just so he could sit in her presence without interruptions. Those few hours were the only thing that kept him going and fed him the need to strive better. Aiden gazed at the clear aqua sky framed by the misty pearl clouds. His fingers fiddled with the cerulean amulet around his neck - a habit he developed recently to soothe himself. Outside the window, the kingdom bustled with life. Returning the high kingdom back to its original state had been a gruesome task. Their spell had made sure to destroy every structure and creature, tampered with dark magic but it did not bring back the countless lives that were lost on the fateful day. So many families broken and left stranded without a home and barely any food on the table. But they survived the ultimatum and that was enough to keep them going. There was no ss or status difference when it came to war. Somebody shows you kindness left you do your best to pass it on. It had been hard but two years is a long time. And a lot of changes can take shape when given time and proper care. Aiden took over as the Crown Prince of Corona, a few weeks after the war ended. Derek wished for him to so. "The throne isn''t mine to call anymore. It''s rightful owners have emerged and it would be selfish of me to turn a blind eye." Derek had told Aiden. He returned to Avrael soon after as their residing King but never once turned Aiden away when he came to him with a question or a call for help. That could be said for the other kingdoms that were affected during the Dark War as well. Together, the kingdoms strived to get their world back in ce - it is a work in progress but they hade a long way from the end. "Yes,ter during the day. Is there a problem?" Aiden said. Their attention snapped to the door when it opened without prior notice. The chief butler cleared his throat and eyed themander-in-chief with an unimpressed look. It is protocol and polite to always knock before entering. Julian panted like he had run the entire way to the Crown Prince''s study, which he did. His wild lush emerald eyes locked on Aiden''s questioning stare. His parted lips transformed into a smile, enunciating his dimples. Aiden''s eyes widened slightly. He brushed his fingers on the little mark printed in the crook of his neck. Julian simply nod once. But it spoke volumes. A silhouette by the window cast a shadow in the room momentarily. Aiden looked just in time to see Kyro''srge crimson red form pass by him. The dragon roared as he flew towards to the west wing of the pce. ce followed him closely with a delighted rumble of her own. "Your Highness, may I ask-" Aiden zipped past the doors before the butler could finish his sentence, leaving him to wonder what triggered the ecstatic expression on the Prince''s features. -#-#- The Crown Princess looked around her. A meadow of white lillies surrounded her. It matched the white sundress that she wore. The Princess noticed she hadpany when she saw a woman walk toward her. Elina felt the need to rise and show her respect at once. And she did so. The woman had the same tinum blonde locks as her and eyes so brightly golden that it mesmerized Elina. Elina knew who she was at once from the portraits and pictures in the books she borrowed from the pce library. "Greetings, my child." Atahrah said kindly. Her voice was silky and as melodious as a finely tuned instrument. Yet, there was a regal stance to her. Something that made you want to respect her. "It''s an honor, Your Majesty." Elina smiled. Atahrah made a sound of disapproval. "Call me Atahrah. My days of being Queen are behind me. I am simply an entity who will help you find your way back to where you belong." She said. Elina''s cheeks flushed. "Would you like to walk with me?" "Of course." Elina said. "Did you rest well?" Atahrah asked. "I think so. I mean, I don''t really remember much. My heart stopped and then it began again. But I don''t understand." Elina admitted. It suddenly felt like she had done this before - walking beside Atahrah. Atarah hummed as she delicately ran her fingers over the flowers. "Well, you did die in the mortal realm. But you wished to return when given the choice that not many are subjected to. It is a reward for your hardwork and sacrifice." Elina''s face expressed her absolute confusion. "Then, why haven''t I returned. What is this ce? Am I still dead?" Atahrahughed. Elina''s cheeks turned a brighter shade. "So many questions, so little time." They sat down on a small bench. Elina smoothed out her dress and ced her hands neatly on her lap. Some part of her wanted to please thete Queen. "You are not dead, no. Your soul is still very much alive. This ce is whatever you call it be. It is a medium where your soul rests before moving on to its next life." Atahrah exined. "As for why you haven''t returned yet, well, your body needed time to heal and rejuvenate." She continued. Memories surfaced in Elina''s mind and she gasped, touching her stomach. "That''s right. I was stabbed with the shadow weapon and poisoned. I remember now." She said. Atahrah rubbed her back soothingly. "Yes, that is right. The poison of dark magic is extremely potent and dangerous. And it is exactly why your body needed time to cast the toxicity out of your system, healing you into a new person." "So I was here the whole time? How long has it been?" Elina asked. "Not very long in this medium. But in the mortal realm, I''d say a long time. Years." Atahrah said. Elina''s eyes widened. "Years?" She whispered. "Do not fret, my child. It is all well. Your absence did cause pain but it has been spent well." Atahrah smiled. "My family...Aiden..." Elina felt a pang of hurt when she thought of him. Her bonded. Atahrah noticed her expression change. "He is well. There hasn''t been a day when he hasn''t visited you in the mortal realm. Your family is notplete but the ones who survived lead a happy, healthy life." "Who did not...?" Elina trailed away afraid to know the answer. "I''m afraid I cannot disclose that information but you will find out soon. Once you return." Atahrah said. "Are you ready to return?" Elina nod at once. "Yes." Atahrah smiled and stood up. "Let''s send you back home then. I believe your Gemina would have felt it by now. He has been patiently waiting for you to heal and get better." Elina''s mood brightened at the thought of the crimson dragon. She didn''t have the opportunity to spend a lot of time with him but she felt as if she''d known Kyro her whole life. "Shall we?" Atahrah offered Elina her hand which she took with a shy smile. "I am extremely proud of Aiden and you, Elina. Go forth and start your life anew, my child. My blessings are with you." "Thank you." Elina said earnestly. "Atahrah." -#-#- The Crown Princess stirred from her long slumber. Her body felt heavy and she found it difficult to move after being still for so long. She heard a gasp as something crashed on the floor. And then shuffling of footsteps and the door opening. Urgent animated voices filled her ears. Elina''s fingers twitched and her eyes slowly fluttered open. She squinted and blinked from the bright light that poured in through the windows. Her throat was parched and she requested for a ss of water. A hand gently helped her sit up and ced a cold ss to her lips. Elina''s eyes adjusted to the light slowly and she found a flushed Hailey looking at her with teary eyes. Elina smiled fondly at the girl. "Hailey..." She said. Her voice still felt hoarse and scratchy from not using it for a long time. Time "How long has it been?" Elina enquired, thankfully epting the second ss of water. "Two years." Hailey said. "Skies! I am so happy right now." She chuckled. A few tears escaped her eyes and Elina reached to brush them away. "I''m sorry to have kept all of you waiting." Elina said. "How is everyone...?" Hailey sat on the edge of the bed. "We are...good. In a safe, better ce." She said. Hailey hesitated but she knew she would have to tell her anyhow. "We couldn''t save Melissa." Elina''s heart ached for the girl. After everything, she still failed to protect her from the darkness. "We were able to bring Kyle and Jase out from the brink of death. They barely made it alive but they are well. Jase''s nerves were damaged beyond repair in his legs and remained paralyzed no matter how much we tried to heal him. But he''s making up for it with that long, snarky tongue of his. I do not understand how Julian puts up with him." Elinaughed lightly. She was d that she hadn''t lost himpletely. Elina nudged Hailey with a yful expression. "I''m sure Julian does in the same way, you do with my brother. Is he still here?" Elina said. "Yes, actually. He visits during his vacation. He just got back the day before." Hailey said. "Vacation?" Elina echoed. "Kyle is studying to be a doctor. A heart surgeon to be exact." Hailey said. Elina saw the same pride she felt on the Hailey''s face. "I guess, you could say he found his calling while serving in the medic bay." "That is amazing!" Elina breathed. "Anything from my Dad and Cole?" "They visit you here once every two weeks. Cole has a fianc¨¦e and he''s graduatingw school this spring." Hailey filled her in. "How do they visit me here?" Elina wondered, confused. "Isn''t there like a barrier or something to prevent them from entering?" Hailey smiled and shook her head. "Aiden found a way through. The barrier can be deactivated for a short period and allows ess - in and out." Elina''s heart fluttered at the mention of her bonded. She involuntarily raised her hand to touch the bond mark on her neck. "Your absence hit Aiden the hardest. The first few months especially took a toll on him to a point where one of us had him on constant watch. But he''s doing better these days. He took over duties from Derek, who returned back to Avrael. The kingdom is slowly but surely growing better. And stronger." Elina felt a tug on her heartstrings. It hurt her to know that Aiden had suffered because of her. She wanted to see him. See the corner of his eyes crinkle as he smiled at her and hear him call her with his very own special name. "Don''t look so devastated. I sent word, he will be here any minute now." Haileyughed. "Here let me brush your hair. You don''t want to chase him away. Not that he would care honestly. You can be dressed in a potato sack and that boy will still look at you like you''re the most precious thing in the world." Hailey teased making the Princess turn beet red. The doors opened to reveal Kyle pushing in Jase on a wheelchair. Thetter looked as though Kyle had practically dragged him off the bed and rushed over. His bed hair stuck out funny but Elina saw the anxious delighted expressions. Her brother basically threw himself on her. Elina choked out augh and pressed her cheek on his shoulder. "Do not do that ever again. I don''t think I can live through it." He narrowed his eyes but they twinkled brightly. He kissed the side of her head and grinned. "I missed you, my little baby bear." "Are you done? I am still here." A voice grumbled from behind Kyle. Elina gingerly stood up on her feet, stumbling on her bnce. She managed to walk to Jase with Kyle''s help and wrapped the boy in a warm hug. "How dare you make me ugly cry?" Jason demanded as he blinked away tears. "I''m sorry." Elina said softly. And then punched his arm. "You did the same thing to me, you hypocrite." It hit her hard to see him like this, unable unable move on his own and on a wheelchair but she was so thankful at the same time. She could atleast still see and hold him nheless. Elina startled upon hearing a roar. Her eyes found the sunflower yellow gaze of her Gemina as he passed by the wide floor length windows that also served as the entrance to the balcony. A second roar - slightly high pitched that the first - echoed a momentter. ce''s iridescent scales reflected the sunlight into the room creating a subtle rainbow. Elina walked to the balcony and reached her hand over to pat her Gemina. "Kyro!" "My Lady. I am d to see you look so well." "Me too, Kyro. Me too." "Hey ce. I missed you too, girl." Elinaughed and kissed the dragon''s snout. She heard a low rumble and rolled her eyes. "Come here, you big baby. Kyro needs a kissy too." Sheughed at Kyro''s expense, nting a fat kiss on his snout. ''To think I was terrified of them once.'' Elina smiled. She was so engrossed with them that Elina didn''t hear the others leaving the room, leaving only her and one other person behind. Her amulet flickered and her bond mark sent warmth throughout her body. Not a secondter, she was engulfed in the arms of her bonded. Aiden lifted her up and twirled her, laughing as he did so. He bent down and kissed her full on the lips as he lowered her down to the ground. In the distance, the vige bell rang loud and clear. Aiden pressed his forehead against hers and closed his eyes, basking in the warmth of her presence. He held Elina close as if he was afraid she''d disappear if he let go. A soft smile lit his face and Elina yet again wondered what she had done to deserve this boy she loved with all her heart. Tears prickled her eyes. But they were happy tears. Aiden beamed at her, the sunlight framed his head in a partial halo. "I love you too, Rora." And just like that it all made sense. Her fears, her doubts, her pain. She could ovee it all because she had people who put their trust in her and loved her no matter the consequence. Because love, means facing your biggest fears. THE END. Chapter 87: Epilogue Chapter 87: Epilogue Two Years Later The Crown Prince rubbed his eyes to get rid of sleep. "How do they visit me here?"
