《Mire Core (A Nation Building Dungeon Core Story)》
Prologue - White Light
"Mmm..."
I woke up with a massive pain surging through my head. I never had this strong of a headache before and it is making my head fuzzy and hard to think. Is this a hangover, I had not drunk any alcohol before since I was waiting to go all out for my twenty first birthday not because I was no fun, just never had the opportunity to do so before since I to tell the truth I was not invited to any parties during high school or college. I don''t remember drinking anything last night, all I remember about last night was laying on my bed reading on my phone. Oh God, is this what they call a blackout, please I beg if there is any higher power out there that I did not got into any trouble last night.
"Ugh"
As the pain starts to subside my thoughts becomes more clearer and I notice I can feel something else besides my throbbing head. For some reason it feels like I''m sprawled across a hard, flat floor. Did I passed out drunk on the ground, God. After focusing a little bit I discerned that the ground was not cold whatsoever but neither warm, perfectly room temperature and it was also impossibly smooth against my skin. Wait...
Am I naked!!!
At that revelation I forced my eyes open which I did not noticed early was unusually heavy and closed shut. As I struggle to slowly open them, I was shocked to find blinding light invading my squinting eyes. As I adjust to the light a near infinite landscape of white all the way to the horizon with a blank sky too appeared before me but I did not had enough time to notice or comprehend where I was since I was too focused on my current dignity problem. I looked down that I had no clothing on whatsoever but that was not my only problem. As I look closely I make out that this is not my skin, it was the wrong color, I don''t remember having sky blue skin but that was not the pressing matter here since there was no definitive barrier between me and not me. It was fussy and smoke like...
Did I DIE and became a GHOST!!!
Oh no oh no oh no. I don''t want to be dead, I died too young. I had so much to live for like... Ugh that does not matter I still did not wanted to die. Is this the afterlife, an infinite amount of nothing, not the atheist kind of nothing but an infinite plane of nothing for eternity. As I was panicking I noticed that I had my hands to my head freaking out. Wait my hands are touching my head like normal. I bring my hands in front of myself and then I put the end of one perpendicularly to the other and push. The vertical hand stopped the other hand like it would do when I was alive. So I can touch things including myself like normal even without a corporeal form. I started to feel myself up not in the perverted way but to make sure everything is right. As I do so I notice some particularities like not just the ones on my head but my whole body, the hair is totally missing which stressed me out a little but makes sense since I don''t really have skin for it to grow on. Another thing is that the family pot belly that I struggled to get rid of is gone, I now have the flat belly I always wanted which made me a little happy but totally useless since I was dead. There was one last thing I noticed.
Where is my junk. Cue the clich¨¦ exclamation of devastation for the lost of manhood. Just kidding, unlike most men I did not tied my self-esteem and identity to my genitals so my only reaction was surprise but I had more things to worry about.
As I look around to figure out what is happening or anything at all to clue me in into my situation I noticed there was a group of people in the distance near the horizon.
I yelled, "Heh" to try to get their attention but they did not react. It seems they did not hear me so I decide to walk towards them. I yell and wave my arms as I walk forward but it seemed like nothing was working. As I continue I noticed that the distance between us had not progressed at all. They were as far away as they were at the first place. This made be worry so I picked up my pace and increased the volume of my voice. This changed nothing as they still not noticed me whatsoever and I had not moved an inch. I began to get a little desperate so I started to run as fast as I can and screamed at the top of my lungs but nothing. Even though I had no stamina at all I still not had gotten tired yet at all but the disheartening situation caused me feel like I had to take a break. As I leaned over with my hands on my knees I looked up and decided to take a closer look at the distant group. There was a group which had a similar look of what I look like now that were definitively more than five of them but less than ten, too far away to be sure but the figure in front of them was more significant looking. They were giant in statue while glowing with an aura of multiple hues of white and gold. She may even be hovering a couple of feet off the ground. They all seemed like they were engaging in a conversation even though I was not able to hear the smaller ones but the large one that now I believe to be in the shape of an [angel] was loud enough for me to hear a faint harmonious murmur. As I was studying them the "normal" figures started to glow slightly until rapidly growing in intensity until all there was were light and after it subsided they were gone.
What the hell is happening. Trying to figure it out but nothing came to mind. Nothing at all came to my mind as I was too confused that my brain practically short-circuited. As I was trying to wrap my head around this the [angel] turned and looked towards my direction. With this I felt a overwhelming pressure with their look as a sense of primordial and incomprehensible fear washed over me. If I could have peed myself I probably would have. For some reason I instantly knew for some reason that this was just a fa?ade, a fake skin. A mask of beauty which hides a true nature that would drive any sane mind into madness if only a glimpse was seen. After what felt like an hours but was probably only a fraction of a second he disappeared like she were never there in the first place. With him gone, the fear subsided as I was finally able to take a metaphorical breath of fresh air and calmed down. Some one please explain what is happening.

System Integration Finalized
Welcome John Moore
|
"That was fast. Um, if you can answer me, what is happening, where am I?"
|
1. Yes
2. Sometimes when a world is facing a [Calamity], which is quite common for worlds with average or above energy levels, [Heroes] from other worlds, specifically ones with low energy levels, will be summoned to save the world. It is not that uncommon for non-[Heroes] to be caught along with the summoning which is the situation you are currently in.
3. A pocket dimension in the [Ethereal Plane] used as an intermediary place between your original world and [Teahgra].
|
"So I''m not a [hero], I think that is a good thing since I never would want that kind of responsibility. And I assume that the worlds name is [Teahgra]."
|
1. Yes
2. Yes, for the price of this great power and fast growth rate, the [Heroes''] souls becomes unstable due to their passive heroic cultivation and usually collapse.
3. Yes
|
Cultivation? So this is not the conventional fantasy setting is it. Good thing I was not a [Hero] then.
"Um, did I die?"
| Yes and No, the summoning process summons the souls of people who recently died within certain criteria but most extras finds themselves having their souls being exorcised from their still living bodies which perishes quite rapidly without it. |
It seems like I would not be able return even if I wanted too.
"If the others were the [Heroes], who was the giant glowing one"
| That was the [Guardian Angel] of [Teahgra] placed there by [s???????d????????h??????f???????h????????s?????j?????d??????j?????????f?????????s???????l??????f?????k???], he/she/it/they usually greets the [Heroes] who would save him/her/its/their world but also to convince and increase their moral. |
"What happened when he looked at me? Why did I feel that?"
| [Heroes] automatically have some form of [Mental Resistances] and [Eldritch Resistance] so they were unaffected but you weren''t. He/she/it/they usually takes a form that is comprehensible and visually pleasing to welcome the [Heroes] and because of that you only felt a slight taste of what would happen if you perceive their true form. Most [Extraplanar] would have this affect to mortals. |
"Oh ok but one last question, what was that glitched text earlier?"
| We must apologize, we forgot to convert it to something comprehensible to your mortal mind. It''s suppose to the most common interpretation of the [Greater God] [Angelic Lord of Light] which is one of the most worshiped [Greater God] in the multiverse, he/she/it/they is even widely worshiped in your original world. |
"So what now?"
|
You now have four choices to choose from on how to integrate into [Teahgra], as you currently guessed earlier, going back is not an option. They are:
Transmigration: This option would create a similar copy of your body from your original world and place it on [Teahgra]. This option will maintain a near exact replica of your [Status] while allowing you to have a much faster growth rate (no where near that of the [Heroes] just faster than what you would have originally). Also it grants the [Ability], [Universal Translation] for free.
You could choose from either joining the [Heroes] or be placed in a random spot on the planet (since you coming from a civilized species you would be placed near a permanent settlement in an environment you could reasonably survive in)
Reincarnation: Since the heroic summoning process binds the minds to the soul rather than the body, this opens the opportunity to allow you to go through the reincarnation process while having your mind intact. This option evens allow aspects of your soul from your original body to transition over but only [Traits], [Abilities], and [Skills].
You could choose either going through the reincarnation process normally which would randomly reincarnate you as anything or allow the system to pick what you would reincarnate as through considering many factors including nature of soul and mind but also your innate preference.
|
Wow that is a lot to consider. This is more like four options rather than two. After carefully consideration The Transmigration option is off the table, if I was going to another world, I''m Starting anew and there is no way I would survive with my feeble body from Earth. Plus even though it may be the safest option, I would not like to be dragged around by the [Heroes] all the time and I don''t even know how they would treat me anyways. What is left would be Reincarnation. The first reincarnation option which sounds nice at first is probably the worst since I would not know what I would become. For all I knew I could become a fly or an amoeba. Heck, even if I became a human I could be born as a member of a slave caste or something. I may have no reason to trust the [System] but the last one is still the best option and I really have no reason to distrust it either yet. I probably have no practical choice in this matter.
"I choose to Reincarnate with your discretion."
|
Reincarnation option was chose.
System input allowed.
Scanning soul...

"Wait what?" Before I even had the chance to think about what happened everything went black.
Chapter 1 - Introductions
Ugh
Just like last time I woke up with a massive headache not knowing where I am. Please don''t tell me I would have to do this again for a third time. Well at least I''m not blind this time since I can see my environment around me. Wait... I can see the environment all around me literally, a full three hundred sixty degree view around me. What is happening, this is not suppose to be normal. Wait, lets calm done. To first to figure out what my situation is right now I must try to retrace my steps of what happened before.
Ok to recap I was originally on my bed with my phone and the next thing I knew I woke up feeling like I was hit by a bus in one could argue a low budget version of heaven. After seeing a disguised angel talking to a bunch of other people that I guess was the [heroes] the [System] was talking about. Wait there was the system that explained everything to me. It also reincarnated me into this world. As a [dungeon core]¡
So that is it. I''m no longer human. Did the [System] made me into a giant sapient crystal like all those stories I read online. To make sure I need to assess the status of my body.
| Status |
| - General Information |
| - Stats |
| - Traits |
| - Abilities |
| - Skills |
| - Techniques |
| - Titles |
Oh so that is the [Status Screen] of this world, it is quite complex than the simple ones in the stories. Well that does somewhat makes sense, if the [System] allows every to access the [Status Screen] it would have to accommodate probably thousands of millions in this world alone so the complexity of numbers and the complexity that comes with life itself not even considering how magic comes to play, the simplest status screen that have the basics of a person would be as large as this. Or that is just overthinking. Come on John you need to focus. Where was I oh yeah my body.
I try to bring up my arms to see them. Nothing happens, right I''m a [dungeon core] I probably have no arms or legs or even a real body. There is no need to worry about that, no siree. Lets move on to distract myself from that revelation. I try to look down, all I see is soggy dark dirt surrounding beneath me. Right three hundred sixty degree view, so I''m probably half way in the ground. I can also see a significant distance in the dirt like well I don''t know how to describe it. It''s like I can perceive my surroundings in depth not from a distance like normal eyes can but like a thousands eyes throughout the dirt, I can see the dirt a couple of feet away as if it was right in front but at the same time the same thing applies to every spot in what I can only describe as my domain which is only a couple dozen of feet in diameter. Inside of the dirt itself is mostly decomposed plant matter but some currently in the process with shallow roots of weeds near the surface but throughout the dirt is a strong encompassing network of mycelium. What type of environment is this?
I decided to move the focus of my view to the surface since another quirk of my new sight is that I can see everything like some kind of omniscient god that would send you too hell for shoplifting a pack of gum from the grocery store, but I only can focus on one area at a time while the others just fade into the background. When I looked up I see a what I think is a bog or something, I never saw one is real life so I''m not entirely sure but I saw photos online and I know what they are basically so one can deduce this is one. I''m low on a slightly tall mound but not that wide either with stagnant shallow water surrounding it with short weeds and grasses on the edges of the mound but lone strands and bushels in the water. There are a considerably large quantity of mushrooms of all kinds on the land sparsely dispersed also. It seems like it was day out but there was a thick fog covering surface and blocking the sky.
Now I know what my surroundings look like all that is left is too see what I look like. Lets hope for the best. First I need to figure out how to. If I can move my focus to see around me, I probably can try to turn it around. I begin to try to but it is more difficult that I thought. As I pulled more effort into this, it just clicked.
Urrrghhh, oh heh it worked... oh Oh Ugh
Once I was able to take a glimpse upon my new form I was soon disgusted by its appearance by my old human tastes. I was near spherical in shape around a size of a basketball but not made of the stereotypical crystal. Instead I was made of a chaotic jumble of peat, fungal and plant tissues, and decomposed flesh with roots or tentacles growing into the ground. I look like a giant alien tumor that would be found in a sci-fi horror movie. God, why do I look like that.
| Dungeon Tooltips - As a type of [Land God] whose spirit permeates through its domain, its main body is usually made out of the key elements it governs. |
Wait what was that. Is it the [System] again. Are you going to answer my questions again?
|
Dungeon Tooltips -
1. A [Dungeon Tooltips] notification
2. Yes but not in the context you think it is
This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.
3. The [System] will not but [Dungeon Tooltips] will since it is one of its main functions
|
Oh the previous explanation for my appearance makes sense but if you are not the [System] that what are you?
| Dungeon Tooltips - [Dungeon Tooltips] is an [Ability] you gain from the fusion of [Dungeon Instinct] which comes from the [Dungeon Master] [Class] which allows them to understand and manage their [Dungeon] with [System Tooltips] which comes from the [Hero Summoning Extra] [Title] to help acclimate the otherworlder to [Teahgra]. |
Oh that''s helpful. So [Abilities] and probably other things can fuse and I assume can evolve too. If I get [System Tooltips] do the [Heroes] get it too and when did I get a [Class].
|
Dungeon Tooltips -
1. Yes
2. No, they get [System Guide] which is much superior and actively assist the user
3. You get [Classes] when you are qualified for them. You currently have [Scholar] which unlocks with a certain amount of education (the equivalent of a high school education from your world) and [Dungeon Master] which unlocks when someone gains control over a [Dungeon] (Sapient [Dungeons] are rare but get the [class] automatically and the ownership cannot be transferred)
|
Oh that''s a lot but aren''t you technically assisting me now?
| Dungeon Tooltips - [Dungeon Tooltips] is an upgraded version that have superior functions concerning the [Dungeon] only, the rest of the functions is the same as [System Tooltips] |
Ok, if you''re going to help me what should I do first?
| Dungeon Tooltips - Going over your [Status Screen] to understand yourself better should be your first step |
Hm, [Status Screen] please.

Name: N/A (Past Name: John Moore)
Race: Dungeon (Bog/Fungal/Undead) Lv. 1
Class: Scholar Lv. 3, Dungeon Master Lv. 1
Affiliation: None (Land - Spore Wastes)
|
|
Energy:
Green Lifeforce: Very Low
Crimson Lifeforce: Slight
Necrotic Energy: Medium
Various Types of Mana: Large
Esper: Slight
Stamina: Low
|
Um, Heh [Dungeon Tooltips] can you explain what I am seeing?
|
Dungeon Tooltips -
Name - It''s your identification, since you died an moved on, your old name does not apply to you anymore so a new one need to chosen
Race - It''s what you are and the level can only increase with cultivation, you are a dungeon, a type of [Land God] and your alignments are Bog, Fungal, and Undead
Class - It''s what you can do, a part of your identity. You unlock it with fulfilling the requirements and it can only level up through its use. It makes the acquirement of class skills easier
Affiliation - It''s what faction you aligned to, you are technically aligned to none but as a [Land God] you are already aligned to your environment which is the Spore Wastes
Energy - It''s the energy that is part of you (as a dungeon you are filled with the energy which permeates the land and is in charge of maintaining it, practically a guardian of magic)
Lifeforce - The energy that comes from life and vitality, flavored to different types of life, green to plants and crimson to animals
Necrotic Energy - The energy of death and decay that comes from the perversion of lifeforce
Mana - Elemental energy that align to the environment and permeates all matter
Esper - Mental Energy that can be produced by neural tissues, computers, and anything that can think
Stamina - Organic energy that is used to fuel and make up life
|
Again, that''s a lot to take in. Ok go by them one at the time. For my name it seems like I won''t be able to use that anymore, I''m less upset about that than I thought I would be. I should note that down for later. For my race it seems like I would be an undead type dungeon, *sarcastic yeah*. Even if I was going to be a [Dungeon] I hoped that I would not be a murder pit. I don''t really want to hurt people and having undead might mean the opposite. Heck, most fantasy stories would suggest that I would be hunted down and purged by a bunch of fanatical paladins. Calm down John, or at least John for now, deal with one problem at a time. It seems like I would need to cultivate to level up my race and I assume [Dungeons] cultivate differently to people. Whatever next we have class wait why is not in brackets like last time?
| Dungeon Tooltips - The general sense of the word is usually not [ ] but in the context of the [System] or in the context usually used by the [System] it will be. |
Oh ok, back to where I was. It said that [classes] would need to be used to level, practically like in real life, when you do something over and over again, you get better at it. For affiliation, that makes sense. Also it is neat that I already know where I am. So Spore Wastes, is that the reason why there so much mycelium in the soil. Now for Energy, the job and purpose of a [dungeon] seems like to regulate the energy levels of their environment, being given this significantly important job makes me feel a little unworthy for it but also a slight sense of purpose. Any way lets continue with the rest.
Chapter 2 - [Traits]
Next I checked over my [Stats] which was the next section in my [Status Screen]. I totally lack any physical stats that is common on most status screens like [Strength] or [Agility]. Turns out you only unlock the stats that you have so if you can''t move you can''t have [Agility] or if you can''t pick stuff up you can''t have [Strength]. Overall, [Dungeon Tooltips] commented that most of my stats are common for a beginner [Dungeon] besides my mental stats which are around the average of a sapient. I also noted that most of the spiritual stats were a significantly high number, probably the result from becoming a [dungeon].
Now lets go to my [Traits] next.
| Traits |
|
Racial:
Spiritual Domain, Ethereal Aura Influence, Nucleus
|
|
Inherited:
Human Endurance, Sapience, Warm Blooded
|
|
Miscellaneous:
Ascended Mind
|
After doing this for a couple times it became a little routine. So [Dungeon Tooltips] can you tell what all of these means.
| Dungeon Tooltips - [Racial Traits] are innate traits you inherit from your [Race], you could also have specific bloodlines or [Metamorphoses] which can influence them. [Inherited Traits] are ones which you gain from another outside source, in your case it was your past life. [Miscellaneous Traits] are other [Traits] you have which does not fill in any category. |
So what does the [Traits] listed on there mean?
| Spiritual Domain |
|
As a [Dungeon] your essence is spread out through the lands and other materials while you expand. Practically making the area a part of yourself.
- As the lands are part of you, your spirit is permeated through out your domain which allows you the ability to influence it as if it was inside your own body.
|
| Ethereal Aura Influence |
|
As a [Dungeon] your purpose is to manage the [Energy] levels inside and surrounding your domain to ensure equilibrium of the local environment. The maintenance of energies allow magic to work properly and puts less strain on the spirits of lesser entities.
- Since [Spiritual Domain] makes the lands of your domain part of your spirit so does it apply to the ambient energies while your aura influence the energies that is not under your control in a similar way.
- Your spiritual reach is far greater than most other types of entities in your world
|
So my role in this world is more consequential than I thought. I hope that means I have more worth to be kept alive than dead to the people around me because I do not want to be a target.
| Nucleus |
| Your essence is centered into one place making it the very core of your being. It may be you greatest asset but also your greatest weakness. It is in your best interest to ensure no harm is placed upon it. |
I could have guessed that since I am technically the [Dungeon Core], it literally has core in its name. Now what does the [Inherited Traits] do?
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
| Human Endurance |
|
Being [evolved] from primitive ancestors which specialized in persistence hunting, Humans inherited this biological characteristic allowing them much endurance. This influenced not just in [Body] but also in [Spirit] and [Mind]
- Boost the efficiency mainly in the use of [Stamina] but also have a weaker version for other types of [Energy]
- Automatically unlocks and boosts [Willpower]
Dungeon Exclusive:
- You creatures will have faster [Stamina] recovery while in your domain.
(Inherited from past life as a Human)
|
Wait I had boosted [Endurance], I probably never found out since I was never really in shape and the asthma did not really helped.
| Sapience |
|
Your mind is complexed enough to gain consciousness and for more sophisticated thoughts.
- Unlocks most mental stats
- Unlocks [Esper] as an energy source
- Has a stronger influence on the [Dreamscape] (another name for the [Mental Plane])
Dungeon Exclusive:
- You have the option to give your creatures this trait within reason
(Inherited from past life as a sapient race)
|
| Warm Blooded |
|
After eons of evolution, your ancestors figured out to how to draw warmth and vitality from inside themselves instead of from outside their bodies.
- Strengthens [Vitality]
- Boosts your Crimson Lifeforces
Dungeon Exclusive:
- Unlocks Crimson Lifeforce
- Your creatures receive a permanent minor boost to their [Vitality] which increases while in your domain
(Inherited from past life as an animal)
|
Wow, it seems like being a [dungeon] changed their [traits] a significant amount. All of these boosts not just to myself but also my creatures seems a little overpowered but what do I know, I''m just happy that I get this much. There''s one more left, now [Dungeon Tooltips] what is behind curtain number three.
| Dungeon Tooltips - Query cannot be understood. |
Just tell me what does the last description is.
| Ascended Mind |
|
Your mind is not limited by the material world, no longer tied to your corporeal body of flesh. Your mind is now tied to your soul.
- The status of the mind is reflected on the soul and vice versa
- Outside physical factors cannot directly influence your mind
- Considerable boost to [Mental Resistance]
[Sapience] Influence:
Your mind is your own
- Boosts [Mind Control Resistance]
Dungeon Exclusive:
- Can tap into the minds of your creatures to either see their surface thoughts or place suggestions
(Gained from [Hero Summoning])
|
The last one is quite a big one and I only got this one by accident. Neat, wait am I saying neat too much, whatever... wait am I saying that too much too. Well it does not matter much since I am only talking to myself and it is not like anyone is listening to my thoughts. If they did that would be incredibly rude. *Cue the fourth wall break of the character looking at the audience* There is a lot to unpack here. First thing I notice it is a little spiritual like in the description but this is probably something that probably only can be acquired through spiritual arts like how the Buddha reached nirvana through meditation or something like that. Back to the effects. So it seems like what it is saying that since my mind and soul is intermingled that one affect the other, damages to my mind transfer over to my soul and same way around. That sounds a little dangerous especially with the effects of [Spiritual Domain] my spirit would not metaphorically but literally be all over the place practically putting it in a risky situation. I would need to be more mindful of my essence when I expand when I actually get along to doing it but now that I think about it my mind is in a safer situation than most minds since all that is needed to mess with the mind of a person would be simple whack to the head. The resistances is nice to have, with great power comes people who wants to take it and being a powerful entity like a [dungeon] there would be people who would want to control me. There is literally a [Dungeon Master] class so it is probably not that uncommon. Now I would like to see them try now. The last effect is a little disturbing to me, gives me a little big brother vibes. Well being a [dungeon] means that I can see what anyone is doing at all times if their in my domain so I''m already big brother from the start. I do not want to think about that for long so lets move onto the next one, [Abilities], since I''m done with [Traits].
Chapter 3 - [Abilities] & [Skills]
Continuing going in order of the sections in my [Status Screen] to learn how this system of this world works, I would be learning about my [Abilities]. So far I went over my [General Information], [Stats], and [Traits] which all been full information so I hope this one is not as complicated. [Dungeon Tooltips] you know what to do.
| Dungeon Tooltips - Query must be described to be preformed. |
Just show me my [Status Screen] information like you been doing but this time [Abilities].
| Dungeon Tooltips - That was not [Dungeon Tooltips]. You were opening the descriptions yourself, the [System] is really open with information it discerns that the entity in question earned it. |
Oh, I jus assumed you were doing it. Ok, [System] can you show me my [Abilities].
| Abilities |
|
Racial:
Domain Sense Lv. 1, Dungeon Creation Lv. 1, Dungeon Area Designation, Dungeon Tooltips
|
|
Miscellaneous:
Terraforming (Shapeshifting) Lv. 1, Language Comprehension
|
There seems less than my [Traits] so it will be easier to go over. Plus some has levels which could mean something significant. [System] please show me the description of each one.
| Domain Sense Lv. 1 |
|
Allows to perceive anything in your domain from anywhere within it while having the rest of the domain vaguely at the back of your mind. What you perceive is formatted to be understood by your mind based on your current (and previous) senses. Allows basic metaphysical perception especially for the energies you can control.
Evolved from Lesser Domain Sense
|
There''s more to this [ability] than I first thought. I already know the first part from when I woke up but the other half was unknown to me. No wonder I can see without eyes and if I focus I can also hear the sounds of the animals and their splashing, smell the putrid water which is not as bad as I expected it to be, and even feel the muddy soil beneath me. Oh, eeewww, turns out I can also taste the ground which is not a good idea unless you want what only can be described as rotten garbage covered in expired milk baked in a hot summer day. Sorry for the terrible imagery but I actually tasted it so deal with it. Good thing the taste was no longer in my "mouth" the moment I stopped focusing but it will haunt me FOREVER. So next [ability] please.
| Dungeon Creation Lv. 1 |
| As a [Land God], a [Dungeon] has the power of creation but it is limited. They can only create or influence things within their domain and alignment while using the necessary resources and energy. Examples includes creatures, items, flora, buildings, and etc. This [Ability] also can automatically generate templates if the templates are common in the area, gained from modified templates, and research by the [Dungeon Master] |
So a normal ability of a [dungeon] from almost all fiction. Has good potential but next please.
| Dungeon Area Designation |
| [Dungeons] or [Dungeon Masters] can designate areas for specific purposes i.e. floors, boss rooms, sanctuaries, production/material nodes, etc. |
I could have guessed that one since the description is in its name. I already know what [Dungeon Tooltips] is so lets skip that one, sorry. I hope I don''t hurt your feelings.
| Dungeon Tooltips - [Dungeon Tooltips] is incapable to experience emotions or any form of thought since it is just a small aspect of the [System] created to assist the user within its designated functions with minimal computing power. |
Don''t be so down on yourself, anyway [Terraforming (Shapeshifting) Lv. 1]. Why does it have the parentheses in it?
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
| Terraforming (Shapeshifting) Lv. 1 |
| You can change and manipulate the terrain to your will but only the land fully incorporated into your domain. Since your domain is part of you, the land you shape is part of yourself also making it a type of [Shapeshifting]. This ability has two effects, one option is passive which modify the terrain to fit your elements (Bog, Fungal, Undead), the modifications would not be drastic and similar terrains would not be effected. The second option is to manually manipulate the terrain to your will which would have a bigger effect but cost significant amount of energy and quite straining. |
So it seems like I can change my environment like [dungeons] suppose to do. Am I suppose to dig into the dirt and stone to create a labyrinth to trap adventurers. I don''t know if I would want to do that, I kinda like the view up here and I''m afraid I would be claustrophobic down there. Plus I don''t think this is the most optimal space to do that since peat would be terrible building material if you want structurally sound tunnels and wouldn''t it get flooded all the time.
| Dungeon Tooltips - [Dungeon Tooltips] suggest that you should avoid [dungeon] types besides [Field Dungeon] since it would be the one you would be if you expand naturally. |
Oh, so that worked out, expanding outward sound easier than digging down but also more interesting. Finishing with the previous [ability] looking at the last one confuses me. Heh, [Dungeon Tooltips] wasn''t that [ability] an reward for choosing the Transmigration option?
| Dungeon Tooltips - No, that was [Universal Translation] given to all otherworlders which would have translated all languages you perceive into you native language while this is [Language Comprehension] which is given entities like [Dungeons] for example. It allows an entity to instantly learn and understand a language they perceive, can only gain languages until after first experiencing it. |
So a more superior version since knowing a language is better than translating it since the translation can have many errors or not even have the same meaning as the original. I feel so lucky since I''m terrible at learning new languages so this is pretty much a cheat that solves this problem. Yeah.
Now I''m done with the [Abilities] lets move on. O Great [System] can you grant me the knowledge of my skillset along with their description.

There is a lot less than I though it would be. I did gained some good [Dungeon Master] [skills] to start out with but they seemed like they were designed for a non-[dungeon] in mind. So it seems non-sapient [dungeons] is the norm while sapient [dungeons] are much rarer than I thought. Does that makes me special, don''t think like that I may be unique but I don''t want to get a delusion that I''m some type of main character that the world was created for me or I have some kind of plot armor. That is basically asking to find you in a situation which would result in your death due to your foolishness. For my [Scholar] [skills], I still can''t believe I got that [class] because I don''t see myself as the scholarly type, I may like to read but it is all fiction. Those [skills] makes sense since they are technically skills in real life which you learn in school. I thought they would be higher since I practically done them all my life but it leveled up that fast most people would have their [Skill Screen] filled with basic skills being in the thousands or something when they get old. [Study] being under leveled makes sense to me because I never really was good at it but is that all my [skills]? It''s not like I did nothing during my life on Earth. Skills are probably harder to gain than one would think since [Dungeon Tooltips] said that if you had the class, gaining the skill is easier and with me only having [Class Skills] and not a lot of them in the first place it seems like the acquisition of [skills] much be difficult.
Now I''m almost done with my [Status Screen] lets finish up so I can actually begin getting [dungeon] stuff done.
Chapter 4 - Goodbye to the [Status Screen]
After finishing going over my [Skills] I learnt what [Techniques] actually means. [Techniques] are well techniques learnt and used to cultivate and experience growth. There are many kinds of [Techniques] out there which used different methods and resources while also considering the different anatomy of the multitude of races. Also turns out [Dungeons] don''t start out with a cultivation [technique]. The most basic form of cultivation would be [Working Out] to increase you physical stats but since I can''t really move that option is out the window. There is [Meditation] which can increase your mental stats but it seems like I would be pretty busy for a while to establish myself in this world and begin being well a [dungeon] which I need to start sooner or later. Good thing that all living things has two passive cultivations methods one by incorporating their energy pools into the three core aspects of being which is [Body], [Mind], and [Spirit] while the second is the natural refinement of time these three experience, like how bodies grow or when minds mature. Another flex seems like that [dungeons] have over everyone else that we gain an automatic [technique] when they develop a theme.
To explain a theme, one must know the three categories of [dungeons]. Yeah I know this got a little too complicated and most of you are probably already asking for the action to come already but if I have to go through aaaalllllll of this, so do you too. The three categories are elements, type, and theme. I already learnt the elements previously when I went over my [General Information] and for me it is Bog, Fungal, and Undeath. It is the significant aspects of their environment which they reproduce. The type is one can argue the shape the [dungeon] takes compared to the rest of their surroundings which includes fields (surface), unground and underwater (below), sky and mountainous (above) as examples. Themes are how the [dungeon] takes form, what it''s whole design is based on. Some themes can fit into either one, multiple, or no types at all. Some examples that are more well famous and common would be labyrinths which has a many meandering paths, mazes which many overlapping routes with a high probability of puzzles and traps, and towers which multiple designated floors one must travel up and down. It did not explained how it influences cultivation but I have to assume the form influences being which limits how you can grow. Like for the tower, you can only grow one floor at a time or mazes grow with more people get caught by their traps or stumped by their puzzles.
Now almost done with my [Status Screen}, all is left is my [Titles] (can''t believe it took four chapters). [System] can you be quick with it by just showing the descriptions?

You were accidently summoned with the [Heroes] and brought this world.

I hope the [Otherworlder] does not bite me in back later because it seems it would separate me from others in this world in a fundamental way but lets just add this to the pile of ''worry about later''. Plus I wonder what being in the [Hero Party] means.

- Boosts perception inside of oneself
- Buffs [Mind Control Resistance] from outside influences
|
I''m starting to understand my starting situation in this world is much more generous compared not just to other [dungeons] but other people. Also I''m kinda liking all of the mental type buffs and resistances since I''m practically just a think lump of flesh in the middle of nowhere.
Talking about being a lump of flesh in the middle of nowhere, I can finally focus on what''s happening since I''m done with my [Status Screen], yeh finally woo. That may have seem all over the place but I think that is as simple as it gets, it just took me so long since I had to read the description of all of it. As I look outside, nothing changes. Still a watery bog. It is light out and I don''t think much time has past at all. Maybe a hour at most but the fog still cover the landscape including the sky so I can''t even check the movement of the sun. As I look over my new home I notice a few more things that I had not before as in it is filled with life. There are frogs croaking in puddles, fish swimming in the water, and turtles ''sun''bathing on rocks. What is the most noticeable would be huge amount insects flying around in the air. Most of them are the vile vampires, mosquitos and a dragonfly fluttering around somewhere once in a while. The problem is this not just a bug hater''s nightmare but some of them are huge. Like did I reincarnate in Australia instead of a fantasy world. Some of the mosquitos are the size of a human hand if you includes the legs, just a finger for the body which is not that much of a difference and the larger dragonflies are a size of a household cat. Damn. I know back on Earth when the oxygen levels were way much higher like around the time of the dinosaurs so does that mean there is more oxygen here or is it simply ''magic'' for the explanation for everything.
Ignoring these monstrosities against nature I look out across the horizon, or at least what constitutes as a horizon due to the fog limiting the line of sight. What I notice is a tall outline at the edge. Is that a person? I did not think I would meet a native this fast, I barely have any domain, not really a proper [dungeon] if you can say so for yourself. Not even one form of defense. Am I in danger already. Maybe if I greet them and show I''m friendly will boost my chances of survival.
Heh, you over there. Hello. I''m over here. Heeellllllloooooo?
They are not even moved an inch. It''s like they can''t even hear me... Oh yeah I don''t think I even have a voice. I been just yelling in my head. That''s embarrassing, good thing no one can notice. But why is they still there. Isn''t I''m in the middle of the wilderness, that''s dangerous on Earth no less a fantasy world with monsters. I wish I can just go up there and see what they are doing... wait I already can do that, I''m an idiot. As my ''eyes'' moved closer I start to see more detail of the figure until I notice it is no person.
Chapter 5 - Templates
As I approach the silhouette of what I thought was a person, it becomes more clear. The fog reveals not man or a humanoid at all but a tall grey obelisk. The out side is quite grimy with dirt and slime covering it with some lichen and moss here and there. It is not even well made with uneven unfinished sides with groves going up and down and depressions that come from wear and tear. It is not just tall but giant. It is around as tall if two grown adult men stood on each other shoulders, how did I thought this was a person. Why would someone put something like this here. Is there some religious significance like the stone hedge in England. Since there is no one here to explain it, I decided to closely inspect it. There was not hieroglyphs or runes on it to show any insight on the culture who made this. There wasn''t any manufacturing errors or even any signs of tool work. The materials may look like stone from a distance but actually quite spongey if you look closer. Some parts even looks like it was made of organic materials. Weird. I wish I can gain some appraisal skill or something like they do in novels.

Your [Status Screen] is just a glimpse of what is recorded about yourself. You can only see it due to the [System] deeming that all entities have the right to access their own information. |
Ok, now I feel a little violated. Anyway can you tell me about this obelisk.

Oh so it was not a obelisk but just a giant mushroom. I never saw one this huge. A true wonder of nature. After reading the description, the fog that is covering this bog is probably the [Spore Cloud] [ability]. No wonder this place is called the [Spore Wastes]. You probably would die of a lung infection for just walking in here.
Anyway did it just mention I can absorb it, how. As I asked that, some kind of primal instinct in the back of my mind just appeared out of nowhere. Telling me one of the most basic thing a [dungeon] does. Once this happened, everything just clicked. All I have to do is spread my essence and corresponding energies into object or entity in question. For fungi like this, due to my elements aligning with it makes absorbing it easier, I just have to use a small amount of essence with a lesser amount of a mix of [necrotic energy] and [green lifeforce]. As I flood the Grey Pillar with my ethereal energies I felt the reach of it''s mycelium into the peat, spreading far and wide, even larger than my total domain at that moment but it gets fuzzy beyond the edge. That was cool. I want to do it again. Did [Dungeon Tooltips] mention before I already have the template, does that mean I can spawn more. So I tried and as I did so another instinct told me all I had to do was visualize it as an image and place it in my desirable spot while filling in the required energies. Let''s place one there and one over there and

That is a lot. At least this time most of them I know what they mean or the are practically insignificant do you don''t have to worry about me going over every single one. So, [Dungeon Tooltips], do you have any suggestions for which to start with?
| Dungeon Tooltips - [Dungeons] naturally spawn items or flora, especially herbs, as it passively expands in the beginning. It is until later unless directly instructed to produce creatures. [Dungeons] usually would need to slay or fins another way for a beast or person to die in their domain to gather enough energy like [crimson lifeforce] to produce creatures but since you can produce you own [crimson lifeforce], even though it is a small amount, you gain a head start. |
So creature first, I don''t really have any flora or items useful for defense anyways. The best option seems like a Zombie, I assume the the indented options are evolutions so I don''t think I would be able to fulfil the requirements of those without the previous form. I may not be a big fan of the undead, they''re disgusting, and I assume it would be bad image if I encounter civilization but anyone who watched a zombie apocalypse movie knows how effective they can be. Plus every second without any form of defense is a second I can be harmed so Zombies it is.
Chapter 6 - Release the Swarm
|
Warning
You require a corpse to create a Zombie.
|
Dang it again. Well that makes sense, to create a zombie you need a body to raise but how am I suppose to be a Undead [Dungeon] if I can''t even make one zombie. Whatever, lets make a Myconid instead, hope they are the large variant not one of those small ones that can''t do anything.
|
Warning
You require a corpse to create a Myconid.
|
The same message, heh [System] I think you mistaken a zombie for a myconid.
| Dungeon Tooltips - A Myconid is a type of false undead where a fungus animate the corpse of a recently deceased beast or person either produced through dying in the Spore Wastes or when one infects the living. A corpse is required for you to create one. |
Oh, so it is one of those zombies from a scientifically acuate movies. Probably looks like the ones from that one game. Kinda horrifying if you think about, all you need to be bitten to turn which means they could take over the world or would magic limit the spread. There is goblins in this bog so they did not went extinct. Anyways, I should assume there are no mushroom people in this world like other fantasy worlds if this is what the [System] consider myconids.
If I can''t make these two can I make a Goblin?
|
Warning
You lack the required [Crimson Lifeforce] and the right [Stamina] to create a Goblin.
|
Seriously, I it so hard to just create a monster. At least I can make a goblin. Wait is a goblin a monster? Isn''t it like a type of humanoid, what define a monster?
|
Dungeon Tooltips -
1. No, it is a semi-sapient humanoid
2. The word monster is complex, usually used by civilized races to categorize dangerous entities.
|
If it is not a monster, how can I spawn a semi-sapient race. Is there like a limit between semi-sapient and sapient races I can spawn.
| Dungeon Tooltips - There is not limits besides the requirements to spawn a specific entity or item as long you unlock the template or modify a current template. You unlocked Goblins due to their abundance in your area like the other templates. If you spawned near a Human settlement or nomadic group, their template would have unlocked. |
Oh, so there is really no difference between the two. So how do I gain the resources to make one then. Hmm.. Wait don''t I have mosquitos. Can I use them to gather blood from the surrounding animals?
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
No response huh, I think I finally found the limit to functions, can assist me understanding myself and the [system] but not problem solving. Seems like I have to figure it out. So planning time. I have mosquitos which can drink the blood but how do I make them give me the blood. O, don''t I have the [Command Creature] from my [Dungeon Master] [class] and since I am the [dungeon] they would barely resist. So all I have is to spawn them but I don''t think I have enough resources to create enough of them to make a significant amount of them. Also stirges sound like a superior option but the back of my mind is telling me I can only create one of them without any mosquitos. Which one to pick, quantity or quality.
| Dungeon Tooltips - You can choose the age of the creature you spawn, some like Mosquitos cost significantly less if you spawn them in the gestation phase and forced changes including [metamorphoses] are easier. Creature maturity rate can be sped up also. |
That is so much more convenient especially since I have a huge body of stagnant water surrounding, the perfect breeding place for mosquitos. The total cost may be slightly higher for [Stamina] but the cost of one adult mosquito in [Crimson Lifeforce] equals three eggs. So I decided to make a couple dozen eggs along the edge of my little island while designating three to change into stirges. Some changes I made beside the metamorphosis was two simple ones, the first making them all female so they can actually have the ability to drink blood, I have no need for tree sap from the males. The second which was much more difficult was modifying them to be able to throw up the blood the drink and injecting it into something else since it turns out my core would need to be able to absorb the blood directly to add it to my stores and it was this or killing them every time they return. This modification gave them a new [trait], [Living Syringe] which made them able to carry and transmit resources, specifically blood but this has the potential to be able to apply to other liquids.
It took them a few minutes I believe to hatch and mature into larva. It was not kidding when they said their growth would be faster. As the swim in they water eating algae and other debris I spend my time assimilating the plants and fungus surround my core. All of them were just weeds and nothing significant so I decided to look through my template list to if there was anything interesting to spawn. There was one that caught my interest. I was called the Black Ichor Cap. The name itself sounds something a edgy teenager would would make up. At least it is not that edgy. So I decided to spawn it near me. As it grew I felt it absorbing more [necrotic energy] than it should have and I instantly knew why, Black Ichor Cap grows on decomposing matter and absorb the necrotic energy and the dying materials turning it into a substance which drip from its cap. You can even call this ichor concentrated death and you would not be wrong. I have a feeling this herb can be processed for use in necromancy. When it finish growing, it was small and weak while all the other flora around it started to wither. It barely produced any of the ichor.
After growing the literal death cap I continued to spread my essence evenly through out the dirt, water, flora, practically everything that was stuck in place within my domain. From what felt like an hour or so the fog or should it be called the [spore cloud], whatever its name is, it started to clear up and recede. Once it finished a blue sky appeared above with the sun already half way through its journey. There was also distant mountains covering the entire horizon in every direction. I could now more easily see the fuzzy view outside my domain. I was able to guess the mountains and the sky because their outlines were quite simple and what I assume to be more of the bog continued for quite a distance. I can also see the outlines of more Grey Pillars everywhere. They actually seem to grow in groups of two to three while the one in my domain must be a loner.
While admiring the scenery the mosquitos finally matured and started to go to my shores awaiting my orders. The stirges would need more time to grow. Once I noticed this I commanded them to gather blood and return it to me by injecting it into my core. When I finish their orders, they took flight and a swarm of mosquitos went in all directions into the bog and left my border. The first part of my plan to make goblins had been a success with minimal hiccups, some larva was eaten by predators but that was a small amount. Begin phase two.
Chapter 7 - Oh, yeah. Its all coming together.
It has been a few days now since I first spawned my mosquito swarm. The stirges was able to mature before night fall on the first day and joined the rest. I have been acclimating the [crimson lifeforce] that I would need for my goblin project but it has been much slower than I thought. Turns out that the amount of of energy that can be extracted through this method is quite low but at least I had been gathering the required stamina with the blood but again the amount that one mosquito can acquire is only a pittance. The stirges can gather much more than their smaller counterparts but they take much longer to find a sufficient target due to their size increase. They would probably have to find large beasts to get enough blood like dinosaurs or something.
You may ask, why would you say dinosaur, isn''t this a fantasy world not the prehistoric age. Well I did not at first knew some of the blood the stirges were gathering were from dinosaurs but I figured it out when yesterday I noticed a large monster accidently entered my domain. It was a literal SPINOSAURUS. It did not stay long or even noticed me, it probably wandered over here while hunting or something. It was from what I could tell maybe small for its species and a little malnourished, but I''m no expert and it was HUGE compared to me. Besides its surprise appearance, the must interesting aspect of it was the name I got from [Dungeon Tooltips]. The name they called it in this world was a Fan Drake and it was technically a lesser dragon. I''m honestly astonished that there are dinosaurs here but they are f*cking dragons. Are there t-rexes here, what about the Brachiosaurus. If these are dragons, does that mean pterodactyls are wyverns and the loch ness monster which was rumored to be a surviving dinosaur, a sea dragon. Wait, it said they were lesser dragons, so does that mean there are true dragons like the traditional fantasy dragons here. This train of though entertained me for the rest of the day but also night because turns out I can''t sleep, don''t need to either.
Another thing I did during those few days were to spawn a couple dire dragonflies with the extra resources the mosquitos brought. I did this because I needed creatures large enough to carry objects for me. I assumed that I could gain more templates by absorbing new materials so I ordered them to gather herbs, plants, and anything interesting that they could carry and bring back, practically anything I did not already had the template for. I also focused on looking for interesting stuff in and on top of the soil. These were the templates I gained.

The dinosaur was not the only thing that surprised me those days. I was able to get relatively good templates. The Rotting Iron was very fascinating, at first it looked like regular bog iron but it is filled with [necrotic energy] and makes the life around it wither. Very potential use for it in the future due to its unique properties. I could only image all the items, traps, practically anything I could think of in the future. I also tried to spawn the slime since the energy cost was low and any type of [stamina] can be used. To sum of the experience, it was not enjoyable. What spawned was a golf ball sized clump of mucus. A literal oversized bacteria. In my opinion, it was even more gross than myself. Not wanting my future goblins to get something nasty, I reabsorbed the organic materials from the slime.

One thing that interesting I was not able to put together until I gained these plant templates was the meaning of the parentheses at the end. They are actually the name of the Earth variants of these species. At first this was just a theory that was made when I first looked at my templates for the first time since their parentheses looked like the scientific names that Paleontologists name their discoveries and the Spinosaurus helped along but everything came together when I saw cranberries and blueberries. So a lot of the races in this world are just creatures and flora from our world? I know for sure there was giant dragonflies existed back then and dinosaurs are obvious but there was huge mushroom pillars too? I don''t recall there being goblins on Earth but where do all those folktales about them come from? And if there being a zombie apocalypse happening before I left so where did the Myconids come from? Is it like the evolved version of the ones that can control ants or there will be an apocalypse in the future and the timelines between these two worlds are separated because I assume we are in a different dimension than Earth due to well the magic.
| Dungeon Tooltips - You are actually in the same universe, just in another galaxy. The reason for no magic in your origin world unlike others is due to the event known as the {Desolation of Ash and Darkness} which not just caused the extinction of your world''s dragons but severely crippled the spiritual forces of your world which included dungeons. This also birth the [Demon Prince] of djinns which restricts you world from recovering the energy levels. |
I honestly don''t know how the react at all, I''m just stunned. I was like that for well over an hour. This had giant implications, how did the [heroes] react when they learnt this? I legitimately did not know how to process this information so I just decided to forget about it. Don''t look at me like that, this shatters any of my understandings of the world or reality. Almost everything I learnt about the Earth either may be wrong or incomplete. Can I even trust science anymore? No, I can because science is the study of how the natural world works, if magic is part of reality, it is also apart of science. Its just our understanding of science only applies to Earth which turns out to be an outlier compared to the rest of the universe which messes up the data.
Anyways, after this revelation I decided to continue with my project which came to completion today. I gathered enough resources to make my three goblins, yeah. I decided to make three due to two reasons, one there is strength in numbers especially since they will be small and weak like most goblins. The second is that after observing my mosquitos one day I found out that they were sneakily keeping some of the blood from me to make eggs of their own. At first I as upset to their betrayal but then I noticed that their eggs were under my influence like the mother. This was a cost effective move, if my goblins can reproduce that means I would not have to make more when they die. So I decided on three since it is one of the most fundamental numbers, the holy trinity, the three primary and secondary colors, the three little pigs. Three. Also I think having one boy and two women would be smart. I could have made more but I don''t have the patience to wait for the mosquitos to gather the required resources.
After deciding that my little island needs more space for them, I brought more peat from deeper in the ground placing it along the shore and spawned weeds on top, don''t worry I still have enough for the goblins. Once I felt it was adequate I started the process. At that moment, a large amount of energy surged forth from my core and through my roots into three places. At these spots, a red fleshy bulbs sprouted from the ground and started to grow in size. It continued to grow at that speed until it got around a cute size of a football and then slowed down, it was still growing fast but not at the lightning speed earlier. This will take some time due to them to being born as adults since I felt baby goblins would be entirely useless. As they grew I spawned some normal dragonflies to stop the wild mosquitos from feeding on my children, wait where did that came from, whatever. I also ordered the dire ones and the stirges to guard them from bigger threats and being turned into easy meals. I am practically counting down the minutes for them to hatch?, for them to be born. I can''t wait for them to come and see what they can do.
Chapter 8 - Children
It took almost as long for these goblins to grow as it took to gather the materials to make them. As the bulbs grew, the more developed it became which can be seen from the outside. Turns out they start like all animal life, as fetuses, and as they grew larger and more complex, the what can be argued as a womb, became bigger and more see through. Half way through their growth, a notification appeared.
| Goblin Development Notice |
| The three goblins you are growing are qualified to be able to gain sapience if you so choose. If so they recently got to an optimal stage in their growth to influence their brain''s development. If not they would be born with the traditional semi-sapience of normal goblins. |
Um, sure. If I want servants, I want them to be smart enough to follow and understand orders but also be clever in situations I cannot give them step by step instructions. Also stupid goblins is well stupid in my opinion but also dumb and boring for watching them. How else will I find quality entertainment unless I make my own.

| Giving them full sapience will give them free will making them not fully under your control. The skill [Command Creature] would not work on them. do you still wish to continue? |
Now that is quite worrying. There is no way to ensure them to remain loyal to me and how am I going to make them do stuff. Even if they can be ordered, they can disobey me. Do I really want them to be sapient? Hmm. Making them semi-sapient would be safer but more inefficient as I would have to practically control a bunch of toddlers which is as hard as herding cats. If I make them sapient there would be a chance they would betray me. The emphasis on the chance. There is no certainty that they would but also I am a literal [god], not just a random one but the one that made them and just looking at how fanatical, religious people on Earth is like to a deity they can''t even conform is real, ignoring the fact it is totally is but in a different context, their is barely a question on their loyalty. So yes, lets make them sapient.
Satisfied with my decision I waited out the rest of the time for them to with nothing to note happened in between. Once in a while, I did looked into them while they formed when I was bored to past the time which gain me some insight in the formation of organic matter but that was it. Near when they would stop growing, the bulbs were quite large, around the size of a sac, and you could see the goblins inside of it in the fetal position. When they no longer needed to continue, I instantly got the instinct it was time and had them born. The flesh bubble popped like a literal bubble and umbilical fluid and bloods splashed everywhere as they collapsed against the floor. They started to stir while covering completely in gunk and mud. I only had one reaction when I saw this.
THEY ARE FUCKING CUTE!!!
Wait they are gross and dirty. Why did I thought like that, they are only the cutest things in the world. What is wrong with me. They are suppose to be my servants, disposable tools that only purpose to serve and defend me. I''m not suppose to feel like this too them but how can I not they are my babies. Ugh, [Dungeon Tooltips] please tell me what is wrong, did I got a brain parasite or did I got whacked on my head and forgot about. God, please don''t let it be some type of mental illness for [dungeons]. From just starting out with a chance for a new life and instantly gets [dungeon] dementia would be horrible. Give it to me straight doc.
| Dungeon Tooltips - This is simple. Creatures from dungeons are considered a part of the dungeon since they do have a part of the dungeon inside of them. This makes dungeons to have their self-preservation instinct minorly overlap. Due to you previously being from a race that raise and care for their young, this manifested as parental instincts. |
Seriously. I did not imagine myself coming to fantasy world to just play mommy for a bunch of green gremlins but how can I not, they are my perfect little angels. Ugh. (Imagine myself covering my imaginary face with my imaginary hands). God, I beg you, please let this end, just kill me now. Unfortunately it seems like there is no way to fix this and if I was able to get used to being a giant, decaying tumor calling itself a [dungeon core], I can get used to this. I do have to admit they are cute and Miracles of Life... I really need to tone it down though.
Looking back at the goblins, they are starting get up and taking in their surrounding. They are still dirty but I can''t do anything about it but at least can clean up the remains of the womb they were in and the rest of the fluids surrounding them by absorbing the organic matter. Now how am I suppose to instruct them or greet them, in general how am I going to communicate with them if I can''t use [Command Creature]. Hmm. Wait don''t I have [Ascended Mind]. It has an extra option from me being a [dungeon] which allows me to access the minds of all my creatures. There nothing in there that says it does not apply to sapients. There is a problem, the description of the option is quite vague how strong the connection will be, it somewhat implies that I can only transmit concepts. Well the only to know for sure it to try it out. I sent out a simple message to these three.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Welcome to the world my children. I am your father and I created you.
The three instantly look towards me and with eyes full of amazement began prostrating in front of me. The women originally on the left took action first while the other two copied the same pose on either side of her. She was not the only the first to show respect but also the first to speak. With great difficulty since it was literally her first time ever, stuttered in near perfect English, "I..I no w-we th-thaaanc fa-fa-father." Her voice was a little raspy but what do you expect. I do admit there was some pride that swelled up a little bit when finished but I am just glad they could have understand me. They would have to practice with each other before they can get any good but good attempt. As I went over them one more time and I forgot they were still covered in grime. With feeling a little shame for having them be in that state for that long I instructed them to bathe in the water. At first they were confused until I told them to turn around and showed them the image of themselves going into the water and using it to remove the gunk on their skin and in their hair.
As they were cleaning themselves, I decided to prepared the stuff they would need. First food, I spawned a bunch of bloodberry and skyberry bushed and made them bare fruit. Done. Now for the tricky part, shelter. How am I going to do that. Oh, I can use the Grey Pillars as building materials but using them as walls would be too expensive and having that many in one place would cause them to starve and die. Maybe I could use one as an actual pillar for a teepee but I don''t have anything to use fabric.. or I don''t have anything now to use, I can just make it. Now time to experiment. If I can use my resources to make items and living things, can''t I manipulate the blueprints? First experiment, I made a dead toad to see if I can only make living things. It worked, I even made two more for all of them to eat. Wait if I could have made dead things, I could have met the requirements for undead, whatever that''s long past by now. Now let see I can change these materials to another state. Second experiment, tried something more simple like making withered weeds, just needed to make dead weeds and have the water removed. I used the results as bedding for my goblins. So I can change the properties of my templates, can I further manipulate the shape or form. Experiment number Three, technically a success. I tried to see if I could take the fibers and weave them into a piece of cloth but my thread control and weaving ability was not one could say good at all. The concept itself was proven correct but I had to reabsorb my shameful attempt before my children think less of me. I tried again with thicker strands which were the size of some of the thinner weeds since it was easier to work with. I then made quite simple clothes with this cloth with rough estimate of their sizes. They were just tunics and a rope thread which I knew how to make, just twist two strands individually as you wrap them around each other.
Now I was done with those experiments, I was ready to take it up a notch. Cloth that was as bad as this may work as clothes but would not protect them from the elements but I know what would, leather. You may ask, how am I going to make leather, well that is simple. Its just skin and I can defiantly at least make that. You may be saying that I am underestimating the leather making process and how difficult to turn skin into leather but I''m not dumb. You need to use tannins to preserve the material which is hard to find in nature but guess one place were naturally producing tannin is very abundant. I give three guess, just kidding, its bogs. And where are we, a Bog! All I need to do is spawn some skin and burry it. Accelerate the process with magic to make leather and then copy it to make as much leather as I want. So I did it and it worked as expected, well I needed to draw more tannins from the soil than I thought and the artificial leather is not as durable as the natural kind but it''s still leather.
With the required tests complete, I made their shelter. I grew a Grey Pillar on my island and removed the life surrounding it. I decreased the moisture in the ground and covered it with dried weeds. I then made a tent of leather connected the top of the fungus and the ground with bone stakes. It even has a flap as an opening which can be open and closed. I even made a firepit made of stones and had dried and peat as fuel and dried weeds as tinder. Now I just have to figure out how to start a fire, meh I''m probably just tell them to bang rocks until they get a spark.
When they came back they were surprised with how much things changed and immediately figured out it was my doing making them prostrate themselves in front of me again. I told them that these were gifts for them, pointing out what was food, their clothes and new home. They then declared their gratitude for all of it but I felt the thought of not deserving emanating from this heads. Good thing they were born with some humility but I was not done with the gift giving. If they were going to be proper people one day they would need names. Inspired from the story of Genesis from Christianity, I decided to name the man after the first man Adam, the outgoing women Lilith and the other one Eve. I know it is a little on the nose for me being from Earth, but I would not have to worry about other otherworlders finding out until much later and I assume any otherworlder would not want to hurt one of their own. Even if there was an entity that would want to harm otherworlders would probably not get the reference. Plus I really like the names and think it fits very well. When I gave them their names, they again were surprised but legitimately grateful and instantly loved them. They actually been repeating their names all night and practicing their words too before they finally settled for the night. They were able to figure out fire after multiple tries and was startled when it worked. They liked the warmth but didn''t understood its true purpose until I had to prevent them from eating their toads raw. They also ate multiple handfuls of berries, Adam especially like the sweetness while Eve admired the work of the tunics but they eventually turned in for the night after it turned dark with full stomachs and interesting first day.
Anyway happy birthday Lilith, Adam, and Eve.
Chapter 9 - More Gifts
As I watched them slept from their exhausting first day, I realized something that should have been obvious and was just blown over my head. Not just they were able to speak instantly right after they were born nor they innately understood an entire comprehensive language, but it was English. How? I never taught it to them or forced the knowledge in their heads and I know for sure I was not communicating to them in words but with ideas and concepts. So how did they know a language not spoken on this planet, or at least not widely, I don''t know what the [Heroes] do in their free time, they could have spread the language if they wished so. Shouldn''t they speak the native goblin language since I spawned them based on these wild goblins. Or is it because I spawned them, they inherited the languages I know, and the only one I know so far is [English] which is at level twenty six. To conform this I took a sneakily peak at their [status screens] while they were deeply asleep and them being one of my creatures, I can see the entirely of it, not just the [General Information]. And yep, they do have the skill too, not as high leveled as mine but significantly high, like almost in the double digits, it varied between the three.
This divided me, one I felt glad that they automatically knew a language so I would not have to teach it to them which would have taken forever. The other, this would not allow them to be able to communicate to outsiders, especially for me. If I can''t talk to outsiders, I would need an intermediary to work for me like these goblins but not also for that. How will they communicate with others like convince the surrounding goblins to join us, if I''m going all out with having goblins, why stop at three, or create agreements like establishing trade or settling disputes. My main concern would be not being about to communicate with the surrounding goblins, since mine are new, weak, and out numbered compared to the rest and being able to well communicate will help things from escalating. So how will I fix this. Don''t I have [Language Comprehension], if I could give sapience to these goblins, can''t I also give them an [ability]? [Dungeon Tooltips] can you answer this query?
| Dungeon Tooltips - Dungeons have free rein when it comes to modification of their creatures, items, and pretty much anything within their influence. This can also extend to sharing their own [traits], [abilities], and [skills] if they are applicable to said target. Example: a rock cannot given [warm blooded] since it has no blood. |
I think that is a yes. I''m pretty sure that [Language Comprehension] can work with living organisms. If they can learn languages, it okay to assume they can gain an [ability] which can accelerate the process. Wait, did I read the example right, if a rock can''t gain [warm blooded] how can a [dungeon core] can? Is it different because of the different methods of how it was obtained, I inherited it, it was not given to me. Or is it different due to the different properties and makeups of the two, I am not just practical embodiment of the land but also I am made of all sort of stuff, why not add some blood too. This world seriously made me think and question how things work in a little more than a week more than I did in my entire past life. Is it because of the effects of the [Scholar] [class] or is it that I have nothing really to do besides think to spend my time.
Anyways, I went through with giving them the [ability] while they were still out cold. This caused them to stir in their sleep as it seemed a little painful but they still not waken up during the whole thing or rather the whole night. Once they woke up, they again went to me and showed their gratitude in a more elaborate speech, praising my greatness and how unworthy to continue to receive my gifts, yada yada. Whatever, I really don''t care for the treatment but it do seem like it already paid off since their english is better. Afterwards they started their day, first they bathed in the water even without my explicit instructions and had cooked turtle for breakfast since Adam caught it while being in the water. Once done with their morning meal, they decided to gather more berries and whatever they found that I told them were edible. This was all done by the orders of Lilith, well not catching the turtle but she did suggested to eat it. Seems like she may be a natural leader. She even was wary about unseen threats while gathering due to her always checking their surroundings once in a while to make sure none of them was caught off guard. The thick morning fog which lasts all morning here did not help. She even had to prevent Adam from wandering off away from the group multiple times, he seems like the adventurous and risk taker type. For Eve, she was more interested to try to recreate the tunics by pulling out weeds and weaving them together whenever she got the chance. More artistic and like a craftsperson.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
As they settle for their second night, I started to overhear an argument break out between two of them.
"We already were given enough! We can''t ask for every single thing we want. That would be too disrespectful!" Lilith exclaimed.
"But Father already gives us so much, just one request would not be that big of a deal." Adam complained.
"That''s the point. Father is generous with his gifts. We owe him everything, we owe him for our lives but we should not abuse his generosity for exploitation!"
"Come on Lilith, it is just one thing and I''m don''t want it for greed, it would be used to help all of us, including Father."
Eve who been ignoring them and doing her own business weaving mats from the weeds she collected today chimed in, "If Adam going to ask for something can I too?"
"No one is asking for anything. We must remain humble in front of Father. If he wanted to give us something, he will because we would need it not because we wanted it."
"Whatever I''m just going ask and you can''t stop me" Adam announced and sped off in my direction with Lilith right on his heals trying to stop him. Once he go to me, he went on his knees and prayed, "Father, please grant me the ability to be able to protect our family from outside dangers to ensure our safety. I beg you bestow upon me this wish."
Right on cue, just as he finished Lilith came right after him and shoved his head down onto the dirt and bowed, "Father I apologize for his impertinence and beg for your forgiveness."
All of this made me chuckle. Knew they would be entertaining. I do not care for their reverence for me but I''m glad they do recognize the importance of respect and being humble, good thing they are not getting spoiled but I''m not against them asking me for stuff. Yeah, they would need to figure out how to support themselves but asking for stuff should not be off the table, one of the main thing people pray for is to ask for their desires. Plus, if I find their request worth it, I would entertain it.
I told them so. That they would have to reasonably support themselves and earn what they want, I don''t mind hearing requests from time to time. I may not always answer them but there may be a chance. Then I told Adam, If he truly meant what he said, he will find what he desire in the morning. Actually all three of you will receive personalized gifts in the morning as presents for your birth.
Lilith tried to humbly deny the gifts but I ignored her pleas while Adam and Eve cheered. To celebrate, Adam decided to experiment with their food by smearing crushed bloodberries over cooked toads to add the sweetness with the savory flesh. Heh, I think he just invented cranberry sauce, neat.
Chapter 10 - Crafting
The request that Adam just made had me thinking. I know that I proved a lot for them already but they had no useful tools or the ability to make them for themselves yet. All they had were food, shelter and clothes. No way to protect themselves nor pretty much do anything at all. No way to provide for themselves or one could argue give them purpose.
So if Adam wanted something to help protect his family, Lilith, Eve, and technically me I suppose. I believe that he desired this because he may have felt a sense of debt to me for his creation but also gives him a purpose that serves those he cares about. He certainly have the courage and bravery to fulfill this role as shown by his capture of their breakfast. He confidently picked up the turtle without even knowing if it was dangerous or was scared by it snapping at him. This at all means does not show he was an idiot. I may only have observed these goblins for a short period of time but none of them showed signs of being stupid, all have at least exhibited traits of intelligence in different ways. He probably noticed the unusual defenses of this creature could be used as a weakness and attempted the risk to conform it. He even bragged about how easy it was to catch it to the others so this assumption was not that far off.
These traits shows he would have great potential as a warrior since they would complement or even shows a promising battle instinct. Because of this, I think making him a weapon would be the best choice.
To consider what I should make him, I would need first to think of the design and type of weapon. One would instantly think of a sword at first. The mystical and regal perception that not just pop culture but throughout the history of Earth, swords has been put on a pedestal but in reality it is not the best weapon. Yeah, in the hands of a trained professional it is deadly but it is one of the hardest for beginners to use or at least that what I heard. If I''m going to give a weapon to Adam, I want it to be useful at the moment he got his hands on it, not wait a few years, they could die in that time. If I''m going to make him something, it would not be too heavy or unbalanced, easy to use and get mastered by beginners, and quite practical. The best one that comes to mind would be guns but I don''t have the materials to make them, probably for another time. The only melee weapon that fits those criteria which can be made with the materials I have available would be the spear. This was one of the most used weapons throughout history, it was easy to make since it used far less metal then other weapons and could easily used by peasants with no training immediately for battle. The long shaft also gives the user some distance from the enemy decreasing the chance of injury and the most basic moves would be thrusting and slashing. So I decided to go forward with this choice.
Now for my materials. I do have metal but it is just rotting iron so not many options but this metal seems very magical which could argument the final product. For the rest of the spear, I do not have any access to any wood for use so I would not be able to make a traditional spear. Plus I think the rotting iron would ruin any organic matter it comes in contact so if I made it of wood, it would probably fallen apart. What could replace the wood? Stone would be too heavy and fragile, dirt would not work whatsoever, and straw would be too flimsy. Oh, I could make it out of bone like I did with the stakes for the tent. Bone is light, durable, and match the theme with the iron. It would not rot if I made it purely of dead bone and the bone would complement the necrotic energies from the metal.
With the plans complete, I set out to start this new project. I began with the main body of the spear, the chaff. It was difficult to figure out how to make pure bone, it automatically wants to grow flesh surrounding it and have a hollow center. The first problem was easy to fix, just absorb it after it finished but it took me a while to come up with the trick of calcify the marrow instead of trying to get rid of it. I made it just long enough for a goblin to use it and made sure it already was balanced to have a metal point at the other end. I even gave it a little butt where the head would go that looks like the type of shape a cartoon bone would take just for jokes and giggles but also to be able to strap the point on. For the iron part, I took me multiple tries to get it right. At first it was not make sure it would not flake off due to it being too rusty. In the end I was able to make it completely solid but the surface has a small covering of rust which I could not get rid off. The edge was also difficult because it was hard to make completely straight and I had to redo it a couple times to make the sharpest edge I could. The overall shape would be three pointed, one large one in the center with serrated sides to be the main part of the spear. The other two smaller ones were placed on opposite sides at right angles next to the connection to the chaff. Putting them together, I made the materials fuse together but just incase I also strapped it with tendons between the blades and bone protrusions. With the physical components done, I infused it with magic to empower it. I do not know how to enchant yet but I can change or amplify the properties of any item with energy which can manifest as [traits] or [abilities]. This gave the weapon the an [ability] based off the rotting iron, [Laceration Necrosis]. Ultimately all I have to give it a name to complete then whole process, well I really don''t have to name it but I felt it was appropriate. Once done I received a notification.

| You created the magical weapon [Death Spear of Adam]. |
I named it after him because it is meant to be for him, I did not want anyone else to use it. Now I would have to make the gifts for the other two. This would need sometime to figure out what to make for them since they did not explicitly ask for anything so I would have to guess.
For Eve this was easy. So far, she has been obsessed with weaving. So far she been trying to recreate the tunics I made them but had making mats in the meantime before she got to that level yet. So I believe if she got better materials or the ability to turn inferior materials to superior ones. So a spindle would be the best option since she could turn any fiber she got her hands on including the weeds into thread. I know there was more steps to gather usable fiber from straw but I can modify the spindle and amplify it''s spinning property. This was a little more difficult to influence a abstract characteristic than a more tangible one like the physical traits of the material or substantial like the magical traits. In the end I was able to complete it with the help of being able to imbue it with my ability to manipulate materials in itself. I was even able to use the rotting iron for the needle to decay all the unusable materials and dry the usable materials for proper use so she can use fresh weeds which will be automatically process for her. It will also bind the fibers into one thread so they would not go all over the place when the other parts of the plant disappear. She will practically become Rumpelstiltskin without the thread turning into gold. In my opinion this is way more impressive compared to the spear. This has much more utilitarian use for everyday life. The spear may be like one used by a famous warrior (I assume, I don''t really know the power level of most weapons) while this spindle would be used by a prosperous family of artisans for generations. If a very skilled spinster got their hand on this, I could not even image the quality of the thread would be not even including what effects [classes] and [skills] may have.
Now done with Eve''s present I can start with Lilith''s. I have a special concept that I think would be perfect. I can''t wait for all of them to wake up and see them, especially her.
Chapter 11 - Santa Claus Came to Town
Before they awoke I placed the presents around my core equal distance apart from each other in order of I made them from left to right. I even made some substandard weed cloth to wrap them in to surprise them, even though I made the spindle, doesn''t mean I can use it. I awaited for them to rise from their slumber.
Some time after sunrise but not for long with the fog still thick in the air, they stirred awake. Adam was the first to get up since he could no longer contain his excitement. I wouldn''t be surprise if he did not slept at all but he some how found a way. Once he jumped out of his bed, well bedding in this case, he shocked the others awake too. Eve was upset to be woken up too early but changed her attitude once she was reminded about the upcoming events. For Lilith, she remained grumpy. A true miser if I would say so myself. At least the others were acting like it was Christmas morning, actually if you think about it, it was their version of Christmas. Should I make this a holiday? Meh, another thing to put off until later I guess.
When it looked like they were fully awake and settled down, I decided to begin. I summoned them to my core and presented their well presents. They bowed down when they got near me like always, I like the respect but it is something that you would need to get used to, and I called forth Adam first since he was the one who asked for his gift. I directed him to the longest one and then he tore it open without a second thought. He was amazed what was now in his hands.
Adam, you had the selfless desire to protect those you cared about so I give you this spear to use to defend the weak and harm all those who seek us harm but beware, do not let anyone besides your foes to get cut with the pointy end. Now once this ceremony is over, go practice so you can show your dedication to your promise.
I directed this message towards him to not just tell him the purpose of this tool and to give him some encouragement but also added the warning since the dangerous [ability] cannot discern between friend nor foe and I do not want him to hurt himself or anyone he cares about by accident. He held it upon his hands just staring in amazement for a solid minute until he snapped out of his trance.
He clutched the bone chaff and said, "Thank you Father, I won''t let you down!" His faced filled with joy and determination with that declaration.
Done with this exchange, Adam went back to his spot and kneeled while still admiring his new weapon. I called upon Eve to come forward next. I directed her to the middle present, which to her looks like a her size lumpy mass so she had no idea what she would get. She gently peeled the cloth off and was more interested with it instead. Sheesh, spend all that effort with making her a gift and she liked the wrapping more. Once she was finished, it revealed a bleach white wheel attached to a table made out of the same material with a pedal and a rusty nail. I originally wanted to make a hand spindle but after learning some tricks with bone creation from making the spear, I decided to go all out. She was confused when she saw it and I could sense a little disappointment since her brother received a seemly much more amazing gift.
Eve, I have noticed your curiosity with the clothes I have made for you and your siblings and had attempted to recreate them. I wish to encourage this by gifting you this magical spinning wheel which will allow you to make thread to use to make even superior clothing then I would ever be able to make.
She was surprised by what I told her, then it turned to embarrassment and finally to astonishment to the last statement. I think the idea that someone could do something better than me never crossed their minds. Even the other two was bewildered. To try it out, Eve instantly grabbed the nearest bunch of weeds and brought it to the needle. At first nothing happened so I nudged the idea that she needed to spin it to work by pressing on the pedal. Once she gently pushed down, the wheel began to turn and the magic began its course. The majority of the mass of the weeds turned to ash in a second while the fibers were suspended in air until they weaved and bound themselves together before winding around the spool. She yelled with glee and tried to grab all the weeds around her to continue the thread but was interrupted by Lilith with a cough.

Eve announced, "Thank you, Thank you very much Father, I will treasure it for the rest of my life!" Practically jumping in joy and grabbed the spindle which was more like a hug and brought it back to her spot.
Now the best for last. I asked Lilith to come accept her gift. She came and unwrapped it, not hast hazardously like Adam nor too infatuated with the wrapping but with respect. What she found was a square the size of a large chess board with ornate bone edges. Delicately carved to depicted the bog and various mushrooms. One side had an embellished illustration of moi and the opposite shows them in a state of happiness. The majority of the square, especially the surface is made of clay which I found quite recently. The clay is molded to have white circle in the very center with smaller blue dots next to it and an another wobbly circle outline surrounding them. Then there are more random shapes near the edges ultimately forming a more defined circle touching the sides of the square. Like Eve she was confused but still looked in fascination upon the ivory lining.
She immediately tried to thank me, "Father you are too kind and I will..." But I stopped her before she could continue.
Too rash to let your father to explain their gift?
"No Father, I beg for forgiveness for my insolence."
It''s ok, I noticed that you always took charge compared to your siblings. Showed great leadership abilities and was vigilant when it came to our safety so this gift is for you. This board shares a limited form of my own senses so you will always know what''s happens in my territory with this map. The white dot in the center is me while the blue ones are you three.
I then explained how it worked. First that the map will display significant entities that are on my land, red for hostiles, orange for dangerous neutrals, yellow for friendly neutrals, green for allies, and blue for our people and creatures under my command. The user can even place purple x marks on locations of interest. I also added,
Another use of this map is that you can choose any location on here too look closer.
I chose this very spot and made the map zoom in, yes I can use this item but not the others. The clay now shows an outline from aerial view above us of me and the three goblins. Then I changed the point of view too the side of Lilith''s face which made her jump. This fascinated her as she moved her hand which moved her hand in the picture.
Lilith began to compute all what just happened and threw herself to the ground in the lowest bow one can performed and said, "Thank you Father, no words can express my gratitude for this marvelous gift. I will cherish it to the end of my days and ensure it will be used to bring prosperity to you and all that follows you."
The dramatized display she just performed made me jump, metaphorically, with how sudden it was. I know how good this gift was but I underestimated this reaction. I''m glad she was grateful and appreciated it but I had to ask her to calm down. Before she joined her brother and sister, I bound her to the device since she would not have been able to use it otherwise. Once settled down, the three of them decided to express their gratitude as one.
"We thank Father for all of what he have given to us and we will not forget to repay your kindness."
I told them I appreciate their thanks and to go enjoy your gifts. As I watched them use them, Adam training with thrusts and swipes and other basic forms of spearmanship, Eve spinning as much weeds she could get her hands on, and Lilith exploring the limits of her map, I began to wonder what would they become, what would they create and ultimately what would I become overall. Aren''t I supposed to be a [dungeon] that suppose to kill intruders and have treasures to encourage them to take the risk. If I keep indulging my goblins, how will I accomplish this? Eventually the goblins will need better supplies like food and materials, better shelters, more space for the next generation, more supplies and shelters for them too. How will I find the time to create monsters, traps, and defenses if I focus on them too much. Anyways time will tell and I feel like betting on them would be the best choice, I don''t know.
Chapter 12 - Quake
For the next couple of days, the goblins had been enjoying their presents. Adam was practicing almost nonstop to get familiar with the spear with some breaks in between for either eating, sleeping, going to the bathroom, and the occasional favor for Lilith to help her explore my domain. She has been keeping an eye on the map and been studying it to absorb as much information she could derive from it. The trips was to get the first hand experience of the terrain. On their travels they encountered some critters and beasts the wander into my territory but also found some noticeable landmarks like lonely boulders and some herbs which they brought back allowing me to gain the templates. On one of their trips they had a myconid wolf cross paths with them but they were not surprised since Lilith noticed it coming beforehand. Adam easily dispatched it due to its slow and clumsy movements. They tried to bring it back to eat it but I advised them against it since all that would have done was infect them so I dealt with the remains just incase.
For Eve, she got obsess with the spindle and been making as much thread she could. She even almost forgot what she was going to use them for before the other two snapped her out of her trance. Due to her not having a proper loom and having no experience whatsoever, her first attempts had been very messy but eventually got better with practice, especially since I made her a loom to work with, not a complex modern one but more like one of the ancient Greek looms, also known as warp weighted loom. The frame is made of bone and the thread is held down with rocks that was found nearby. Once she get better, I''m thinking about introducing her to the concepts of tapestry weaving and maybe embroidery.
A noticeable event that happened within this week was an earthquake that felt like it shook the whole entire valley. This made the goblins to panic and dash towards me. I tried to calm them down and trying to tell them it was not the end of the world but I was a little scared too because I did not knew the origin of the shake. What was that all about?
| Dungeon Tooltips - The Spore Wastes exists above a large active [Red Leyline]. |
Oh, [Dungeon Tooltips], I almost totally forgot about you. How has you been, for I me I been fine until the ground literally shook. Was this caused by the leyline you mentioned, whatever that means anyways. Care to explain what just happened?
|
Dungeon Tooltips -
1. [Dungeon Tooltips] is incapable of emotions.
2. The earthquake is a common occurrence in this region due to the [Red Leyline] which would be known as a tectonic fault line.
3. Leylines are natural or artificial features in the planet''s crust which conducts large amounts of energy. There are six main types in [Teahgra] which includes Red which was mentioned above, Grey that are great mountain ranges, Green as large forests, Blue for large bodies of water, Yellow for deserts, and Black for oceanic trenches.
4. Probably a volcano erupted a significant distance away but it is unknown.
|
Oh so this is common since we are in are on top of a tectonic plate boundary. It''s kinda neat that the leylines are colored theme which reminds me of that card game but wait a volcano erupted! Are we in danger, will lava flow down and kill us? Will a toxic gas either descend from the mountains or appear from cracks in the ground? Is my children okay, will I die?
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
| Dungeon Tooltips - Most of those questions can''t be answered but there is a high probably that none of that would happen since there is no active volcanoes in you immediate area. |
Oh thank God, for a second I thought I would have died a second time and almost had a full on panic attack there. This whole kerfuffle had all of us on edge and I was eventually able settle the goblins down. They were able to go back to their normal daily routines but they were sleeping uneasy that night while I contemplated the information I received from [Dungeon Tooltips]. If I am right above a leyline, as a dungeon would I be able to access the energy? I look at my energy reserves and noticed a small amount of my mana has some flavored as igneous stone mana and very very small traces of magma mana. If I could even access this energy source since my elements don''t align with lava, I would have to expand deep down below and I don''t even know how to expand at all yet. Also if Red means magma, Grey would probably mean stone, Blue and Green obviously be water mana and green lifeforce respectfully. That leaves Yellow and Black left. Well underwater trenches are one of the deepest and darkest places on earth so it makes sense for it to be Black for a place that is pitch-black. If it is dark that would probably means it would be darkness mana? Probably. For Yellow, it is harder to guess. Would it be sand, no there was no brown leylines to represent dirt so I don''t think sand would count. Is it wind since the desert is known for its sandstorms, probably not. Leylines are described as features on the crust so something that is associated with the air would not be a leyline. Wait, if there a leyine for somewhere that is very dark, shouldn''t there be one to represent the opposite, somewhere that is brightly lit and absorb a lot of heat and light from the sun? That is the literal description of a desert. So the Yellow leyline represent light mana but wouldn''t that make it a white leyline? Since there is so much association with light and the color white but also all light from the visible spectrum together makes white light correct? But the majority of deserts yellow due to the sand, is that why it is Yellow?
These thoughts keep me busy for the rest of the night. My own thoughts have been keeping me entertained lately. Even though there is not much to do now, I need to start maintaining my focus on the real world or I will forget about reality all together. I know from experience back on Earth that daydreaming too much lead me to forget about social events with my friends and homework assignments, all because I as too busy trapped in fantasy land. It was not as bad as a human but I''m afraid that as a dungeon I would lose track of time easily due to the difference in timeframes. Heck I personally experienced here crazy experience with the passage of time, one time a minute felt like an hour and a whole day can feel like few hours. Time did not changed but how it felt did like how having fun can make time fly but it is way more drastic for an entity like me.
While thinking about all of this, ironically I missed the sun rise and the goblins waking up. You can see my problem don''t you.
Anyways, the days continued to pass as normal until today. What was different this day was around noon I felt a disturbance in the force if you would want to call it. I could not pinpoint the feeling until I noticed a minute later a large group of people crossing the boundary of my domain. This sent me to panic a little again and I went to warn my children of the danger but I was not the only one who noticed them as Lilith was yelling to the other two to prepare as orange dots started to appear on the edge of the map. I hope this all goes well and no one get hurt.
Chapter 13 - First Contact
The number of orange dots increased while gaining some yellows too. This frightened the children as this was their first time facing any true danger since being born.
"What do we do?" asked Eve.
"I know, we fight them and tell them who''s boss." Adam declared.
"Lets not make any rash decisions. Being reckless would only lead to our demise." Lilith added while looking at Adam. "This Threat needs to first be evaluated and then we can determine a plan of action once we acquired the necessary information."
"So what do you suggest we do?" Adam asked sarcastically.
Glaring at him she said smugly, "I suggest we go and greet them."
"Greet them! They are the enemy and wouldn''t that be too dangerous?" Adam exclaimed.
"Yes it would be but they are not entirely hostile to us, their orange not red meaning they are neutral to us. Plus there are some yellows mixed in there which would mean they can be convinced not harm us. A large group of neutrals that wanders suggest that they might not be beast but people like us and if they are people, they may be able to be spoken to."
"So you just want to talk to them?" Eve asked.
"I don''t assume they would be friendly at all but I would not want to take the risk of fighting a group with superior numbers plus meeting them would allow us to hide the location of Father so if things do go wrong, he won''t get hurt."
"What is your plan so far?" Adam asked.
While they talked, I let their voices fade into the background as I check on these invaders. What I saw quite surprised me. They were goblins too. Well, not anything like mine. They were filthy ugly things that seemed not too intelligent. Didn''t the system said goblins are not normally fully sapient? So this makes sense as they acted so simple and primitive. They were raggy hides and held crude weapons and tools. The bigger and stronger one, not by much, were barking orders at the others to move along. More in the center were weaker goblins and women goblins with their children. There were also what looked like sickly barely alive ones carrying the majority of the items and even pulling sleds. Is that how they treat their sick, how cruel, some were even missing some limbs.
I decided to hide this information from my goblins as I should not hold their hands for everything, being aware of threats beforehand is what some civilizations would literally kill for unless they already have some form of divination, whatever they need to do things for themselves like learning about the enemy they will face. Talking about these new ones, I wonder can I assimilate them into my dungeon. This would be better since they have knowledge about the surroundings but also know how to provide for themselves already. Plus it would increase the gene pool a lot, don''t want my three to technically commit incest if they don''t have to.

As I listened more closely to their conversations I got a new notification.
| Skill Gained |
| [Language Comprehension] allowed you to quickly learn the skill, [Grukst (Hungry Drake Tribe dialect)] |
So I gained the [skill] for their language but I already understood them from my [ability] but I do admit they do sound more clearer. It looks like that grukst is their natural language, is that for all goblins or is it just for the goblins in this valley. Anyways this group seems to be the Hungry Drake Tribe. There no hungry drakes around here currently so obviously they gave themselves an imitating name.
When I received the notification, my children was about to come to view to the interlopers. Adam was in front due to his superior weapon and training while Lilith and Eve was behind him holding bone spears I quickly made for them earlier when I noticed the intruders. The fog was able to obscure them until they got close enough, not too close for it to be too dangerous but close enough for the two groups to see each other clearly and communicate without yelling.
Adam declared, "Who goes there!"
This caught the attention of the other goblins and the closest guard responded, "Ho we, ho ye!"
"You are trespassing on Father''s domain, leave now!" Lilith commanded.
Another guard told her, "Shut gir, we no take oder frum ye!"
"Yah, tee of ye vs many we. We oder now." A third guard giggled.
"This is our land, all you need to do is go to another direction and we would not need to fight." Lilith said.
"Gir scair. Haha."
"I bet I can defeat any of you so come and try!" Adam declared as he challenged them.
"Adam! What did I said about taking unnecessary risks."
"Don''t worry, they look like they are all weaklings, can''t even hold a weapon properly and look at them. We should pity them not be afraid of them." Adam said intentionally antagonizing the enemy.
The largest and strongest goblin with the best gear, no where near good but compared to the others, came forward, "Shorty tawk big woods for weeklin." said a guy not even half a foot taller than Adam. "Wat make deel. Stwoger wins, take all. Weeklin bye bye."
"Oh you want to fight, duel one another and winner takes all. That sounds like a deal to me."
"Adam this is a very bad idea, you just got the spear days ago and you never fought anyone else before." Lilith told him.
"Come on, I have a feeling that I will win."
"I''m with Lilith on this, you can die. We can always just try to talk this out like we originally planned." Eve added.
"Yettin girs bos ye aroun. Fiet me yike a reel wawwior." The largest demanded.
Once he finished talking, everyone went silent as these two walked towards each other and prepared to fight.
I would be on the girls side but like Adam my intuition is telling me everything will be alright with battle so I did not stopped him. Lets hope it turns out that way and I''m confident I have the means to heal him if he did got hurt but that does not stop me from worrying.
