《One and Only》 Chapter 1 ¡°Goodnight darling¡± It''s been a while since I''ve heard that voice¡­ I wonder why I heard it just now, Hiro thought, I just wanted to go to sleep peacefully for once in my life since he left; I guess that''s never happening. Oh man, I wish I could see him again. Hiro was dating someone a few years back his name was Robin. Robin had to leave for college right after graduation for scholarships. They promised to keep in touch the whole time he was gone, which did happen¡­ until the school year officially started. They tried to keep in contact with each other as much as they could but they just couldn''t keep it up. The time distance, homework, and work they had to do always messed it up. After the school year ended they could keep in contact with each other more, but one day Robin just started to get more distant. He would dryly reply to his texts and just ended up ghosting him. Hiro is trying to stay positive and thinks that he''ll be able to talk to him again, but some thoughts just keep popping inside his head. What if he is cheating on me? What if when he started to ghost me he wanted to break up? What if I made him uncomfortable with how much I was nagging him? Was it my fault? He wasn''t sure if he should just stay here for the rest of the year and drop out because school was mentally draining him, or to stay in school, although he didn''t want to make that decision by himself especially because he wasn''t in the right mental state. He wanted to ask his mom to get her opinion, even though he knew what her response would be. ¡°Hiro! Remember to take a shower and brush your teeth before you go to bed, you hear me?!¡± ¡°Yes, mom!¡± He got up from his bed and went to the shower then went to bed. ¡°I love you¡­¡± Chapter 2 It was the next day, Hiro woke up to his mom opening the blinds and walking out. It was always how his mom would wake him up, she wasn''t a big talker in the morning so she would always wake him up in this non-verbal way. ¡°Ughhhh, morning mom,¡± he said groggily. ¡°Morning,¡± even though his mother wasn''t a big talker in the morning she would always have a smile on her face. It was the one thing he always was weirded out about. ¡°Hey, mom, can I talk to you later?¡± ¡°Of course!¡± She walked out of the room after that sentence. Hiro got up and got ready for the day. He walked down the stairs, he was greeted by his father and some good breakfast. His father was always the cook in the family, he always enjoyed the craft of food and how time-consuming it was. ¡°Hello, son. How was your sleep?¡± ¡°It was better than they normally are.¡± ¡°You still have those bad dreams? I swear I told you that dating him would be a bad idea in the long run,¡± he said teasingly. Every single day after Robin left Hiro would have really bad dreams. It would get so bad that he had to go to the doctors to try and figure out what was happening. He never wanted to talk about it because he always felt bad he couldn''t do anything about it. Eventually, Hiro gave up on that too. Yes, he understands that he shouldn''t give up that fast on stuff that could be bad for him but he just doesn''t have enough energy to deal with it. ¡°So mom about what I wanted to walk about.¡± Hiro was nervous about saying this because he didn''t want his parents to freak out, but he went on anyway, ¡°I don''t know if I want to go back to school. I really just want to drop out, but I can''t make this decision on my own. Can you please help me?¡± He blurted out these words so fast that it took a while for the parents to process the information that was given to them. ¡°Oh honey,¡± His mother reached out her hand to hold Hiro¡¯s. ¡°You shouldn''t drop out. I know that you''re suffering a lot but this will help you out in the future! It''s just a little push further until the end of the year, until graduation. You can do this, I believe in you!¡± ¡°Yeah son, you should just give up your dreams because of these few years. You were really passionate about this in high school.¡± Hiro''s father added. ¡°Yeah¡­ I guess you guys are right. I¡¯ll stay in school. Thanks, guys¡± ¡°No problem son!¡± They both said at the same time. Chapter 3 Hiro finished up his breakfast and went out for a walk. He always liked taking a walk in this neighborhood. All the residents were really nice, the scenery was nice, and there was a beach. Hiro really liked the beach when he was little; it was a place where he could be free and not think of anything, he could just stare into the water and think. ¡°Hiro! Long time no see!¡± ¡°Huh??¡± Hiro turns around to see someone running up to him. He couldn''t make out who it was; they recognized the voice but couldn''t put it to a face. ¡°Hey it''s me, Ellie, remember me?¡± she asked. ¡°Oh hey Ellie, yes I remember you and it has been a while since we''ve seen each other.¡± Ellie was one of Hiros best friends before he moved. Ellie doesn''t have a phone because she''s never wanted one so they haven''t been in contact at all since the last time he was back. Hiro would normally go straight to her house for this time he just really didn''t want to talk to her. He just wanted to be home without having to talk to people outside of his family. ¡°Why¡¯d you not come to my house right away? You always did that in the past, what''s up?¡± She sounded confused. No one was around because it was a holiday so everyone was with their families. It was peaceful out there just being able to listen to the waves crashing onto the shore. Being able to reminisce about all the happy and sad memories he''s had here. Being able to think about¡­ him¡­ Hiro may be sad about what''s happened with them but it always made him feel better just thinking about the times they were together. It was almost always happy times together, even when they fought they resolved it and grew from the experience. They were a really happy couple. Everyone thought they would grow up together, marry each other, and live together.. But that didn''t end up happening. Even though Robin was studying out of the country he still had an apartment here so he wouldn''t have to stay with his parents. The apartment looked exactly the same as before he moved out because no one was staying there every once in a while. His parents went to his house to water his plants but that was all. He then went to his parents and told them he was ok. He then got ready to go to bed and slept. Chapter 9 (Goodbye) A few days later it was time for Robin and Hiro to leave their home and go to college. I was sad that I had to say goodbye to my parents and to Robin. Robin and Hiro agreed that they would meet at the airport before going to their flights and saying goodbye. It was a few hours until that time and Hiro was really anxious wondering if they¡¯ll actually meet there and if Robin will keep his promise. Hiro had gotten checked in and went through security without seeing Robin. Hiro noticed that he had an hour before he had to board his plane so he went to get food at Mcdonald''s. He decided that he would text Robin to meet him there when he was done with everything. Around 20 minutes have passed and Hiro was starting to give up hope that Robin would come, but before he got up and threw away the rest of his food Robin came running up to him. ¡°Hiro! Wait up!¡± Robin yelled out of breath while running. ¡°Robin? I thought you wouldn''t come.¡± ¡°I know, I know I''m sorry Hiro! I didn''t mean to be this late but my parents were doing stuff and really wanted to bring me to the airport so I had to wait for them and when we finally left the house there was a lot of traffic¡­¡± Robin started to ramble, ¡°I finally just got through security¡­ listen Hiro I meant to text you but my parents took my phone so that I would have my full attention to the-¡± Hiro cut him off with a kiss. While they both were walking away they waved at each other. ¡°There was a gu¡­¡± Chapter 10 (Hospital) When Hiro''s plane landed everyone got out as normal but little did they know there was someone. Someone that wasn''t supposed to be there. Omar¡­. Ok yeah, Omar is allowed to be there but not like this. Not with what was in his possession. A¡­. A gun¡­ Weren''t they supposed to take that when he went through security?!? Why does he have it? ¡°HEY, YOU! PUT THE GUN DOWN!¡± Someone yelled, but who? Hiro questioned himself but it was too late. BANG! There was something red flying around, people were running toward me. But why, why are they running towards me? Nothing wrong with me I know that. Wait, why is everything getting farther and farther away? Am I falling? I am, I totally am. Hold on, did I get shot? Omar is getting tackled to the ground by the police. ¡°Hey, hey! In the end, Robin kept on blaming himself and Hiro just hearing him hoping that he could do something. After 3 hours Robin left to go to his house. He promised to visit Hiro every day to make sure he would be there the day he woke up. Chapter 11 (Omar) Wait, why am I here? How did I get through with a gun? Where am I going? There''s Hiro. Wait, why did I come here again? Why am I just standing here holding this gun and staring at Hiro? Why is Hiro just staring at me and not running away, or, or yelling that I''m having fun? I didn''t know how to answer them because I didn''t remember what happened or how it happened. All I know is that I showed up there and shot a gun? I don''t quite remember. I just wish I could go home, or to jail, or something. I felt a bit sluggish, but I brushed it off. He is currently waiting in the lobby for Robin to pick him up. Robin has been visiting him every day since he came into the city. Everyone had other stuff to do, so they just went alone. Chapter 18 It''s been a week since Hiro went to Robins place. Hiro has gotten way better than he was before. He was able to work up enough courage to talk to Robins roommates, and now all of them are good buddies. They really enjoyed talking to each other. Hiro had to head to New York for college. He was really upset that he had to leave everyone. All of his new friends, and his boyfriend. Robin was on the verge of crying from being separated from Hiro again. Chapter 19 (New York) Hiro is walking through the airport trying to find his gate. He found his gate and decided to get some food. He walked around to see all the options close by. He decided to get Mcdonald''s. He walked back to his gate and started to eat. After around 30 minutes, he got up again to find some books. There was a bookstore close by and some books interested him. He walked around the book store for 10 minutes and got 2 books. He walked back to the gate that was going to board in 15 minutes. He got on the plane and slept the whole time. After 2 and a half hours, the plane landed and everyone got off. Hiro called the person who was picking him up. ¡°Clarence!¡± ¡°Yoooo, Hiro! How you doin¡¯¡± ¡°I''m doing good! Where are you waiting?¡± ¡°I''m at the entrance, you''re so slow. He went into the kitchen to drink some water, hoping that it would help. It did help with it, so he just thought it was a one-time thing. He took some painkillers and decided not to tell anyone. He started to get ready for the day and eat some breakfast. He went over to Clarence''s room to wake him up. ¡°Hey, Clarence. It''s time to wake up¡± ¡°Ughhhhhhh.¡± Clarence turns over to look at Hiro. ¡°Five more minutessss.¡± ¡°No, you have 20 minutes to get ready.¡± ¡°Ughhh, fineeeee.¡± Clarence got up and started to get ready. Hiro and Robin facetimed around 7 PM. Everything seemed fine with Hiro, so Robin had no suspicions. They were laughing with each other and talking about stuff. They hung up after 2 hours so that Hiro could sleep. Chapter 21 Cough. Cough. What''s happening? I can barely breathe. My chest hurts. My coughs really hurt. Am I dying? Cough. Robin was really distressed and blamed himself for not seeing Hiro''s condition. Robin called Hiro''s parents and told them what was happening to Hiro and all of them decided to go meet Hiro in 4 days. Meanwhile, Clarence and Hiro were talking to each other to distract Hiro. Chapter 23 It''s been 3 days since everyone heard the news. Robin and his roommates were heading to New York to visit Hiro. Hiro''s parents and Ellie were also going to New York to meet Hiro. Robin was going to get there faster because he lives closer than his parents, but they aren''t going to visit him till the day after. Clarence is still visiting him every day to keep him company. Hiro and his parents were talking about stuff, and then it came to what Hiro wanted his funeral to be and what he wanted to do with his body. ¡°So, Hiro, what do you want to do with your body when you pass?¡± Hiro''s mother asked him. ¡°I want to donate my body to science.¡± ¡°Alright.¡± His mother added. ¡°What do you want for your funeral?¡± His father asked. ¡°I don''t know, you decide. I don''t care about anything. I mean, I''m going to be dead, so why would I mind.¡± ¡°Hiroooooo, stopppp!¡± His mother replied. ¡°Heh, alright. But on a real note. I do not mind, you guys take your creativity and do something with that.¡± ¡°Alright¡± Both of them replied. All of them talked for another hour and then his parents left. His brother couldn''t come because of work, so both of them called the whole afternoon. Rush apologized to Hiro for what he did to Hiro. At 11:30 PM, they hung up and went to sleep. Chapter 24 (The funeral) ¡°It was March 23, 2025, at 3:48 AM when Hiro passed. Hiro was such a positive person and just wanted everyone to be happy. He tried to not worry anyone with what he was going through. He loved everyone to death. Furthermore, he wanted everyone to know that he lived his best life. He loved being himself, and he would not change his life if he could. He wanted no one to blame themselves for what happened to him and to move on with their life. He said that he''s thankful to have had such a wonderful family that helped him with everything he needed. Not only that, but he''s also thankful for his boyfriend, Robin, for sticking with him through everything they''ve been through. He wanted to say thank you one last time to Clarence for helping him in his last moments in life. He also says he accepts his brother¡¯s apology. Hiro was a son, uncle, roommate, and partner.
