《The Villain's Uncle》 Chapter 1: Golden Eyes Shit. Daniel had finally quit his old job. He had finished his studies. He was finally going to be a teacher. The job he¡¯d been dreaming to have his whole life was only a day away from becoming his. Then¡ ¡°Crazy shit like body possession is only supposed to happen in novels!¡± He whispered to the unfamiliar face in the mirror. Daniel¡¯s formerly short brown hair was gone. His hair had turned snow white that gleamed in gold under the light. It was long enough to fall over his forehead. His dark eyes had become a deep gold, and his fair skin was now tanned. He looked completely different. Changing his appearance was not new to him. He had done it dozens of times before. But this was the first time his appearance changed without him knowing. Besides, it wasn¡¯t only his face that changed. He was taller and leaner. His body was so foreign to him. He took a deep breath and made his way back to the big canopied bed. He then took a good look around the ostentatious room. His eyes almost immediately started to get blinded by all the shiny gold and silver in the room. It wasn¡¯t his first time seeing a room like this, but waking up in it was a first. Daniel released a sigh and ran a hand over his face. What in the seven hells is going on? All of a sudden, pain lanced through his head. Memories that were not his flooded in. There were too many that he couldn¡¯t sort out and the pain continued to become even more intense. His body tilted and he fell. When he landed on the floor, only then did he feel the other aches in his body. He was too shocked by the transfer of soul to notice it earlier. His entire body hurt. It reminded him of that time his entire body slammed against a concrete building when his jump missed. The pain all over his body was enough to almost make him pass out. He failed to stop a loud groan from escaping him. The moment he did, the door to his room burst open and two men and an older woman entered. The moment they saw him on the floor, the two men rushed to help him up. Daniel was too delirious from the pain in his head and body to make out their features. However, he could hear them speaking another language. Oddly enough, he could understand them. ¡°Call for the Priest!¡± the older woman shouted. ¡°The master has regained consciousness!¡± More people rushed into the room. More voices. More faces that seemed familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. The pain. The memories continued to rush in. It was too much. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it Darkness eventually embraced him. ¡°Master Damian!¡± ¡ª¡ª¡ª When he woke up, he was alone again. Aches were still all over his body, but it was manageable. It was embarrassing. He endured so much pain before, but he never passed out¡ªnot anymore. This was the first time he lost consciousness from pain after a very long time. He sighed as he finished sorting out the memories. Both his and this body¡¯s original owner. Daniel nearly had a mental breakdown. He never really knew that he of all people could have a mental breakdown. He didn¡¯t just possess a body. He transmigrated into the body of a character from the novel ¡°The Rise of Dawn.¡± He entered a body of a useless extra who only appeared by name when it was uttered by the characters. The villain¡¯s uncle. The poor guy died even before the prologue of the story. Damian Kaige Wyndall Ammadon. First, he needed to forget the fact that he looked completely different right now. That was the least of his worries. He needed to calm down and analyze what events led him into coming here. He tried to think. Why me? I only read that to pass the time. It was the day before his first day as an elementary teacher. He was so excited that time seemed to pass in an agonizing pace. So, he picked up the book his friend gave him and started to read instead. It was honestly a horrible book. His blood kept boiling at the protagonists¡¯ actions. He was especially angry at how they were treating the villain. The kid didn¡¯t even do anything wrong. He was just hated for simply existing. Could those guys even be called protagonists? Could the kid even be called a villain? He couldn¡¯t stop reading. By the end of it, he was ready to throw the entire book in the trash. His friend probably only gave him that book just to share the frustration of it. No. He was sure his friend only gave that book just to share the frustration of it. The bastard was likely to do that. After reading the book, and using a monumental amount of effort, placed it on his shelf and not in the bin. He fell into bed and was asleep in minutes. He couldn¡¯t recall what happened after that. ¡°Anyway,¡± he whispered to the quiet room, ¡°according to the book, this body was supposed to die on his way to Ammadon County.¡± It was a terrible car accident that only the driver would survive. The real Damian Kaige Wyndall Ammadon was probably dead. But Daniel¡¯s soul entered his body for some reason. Also, judging from what he saw earlier, he was probably in the Ammadon mansion. According to his memories, this was this body¡¯s room. The old woman he saw earlier was Sandra. She was the head butler of the Ammadons for nearly three generations. He let his mind wander for a while. Even with all the training and suffering, he went through, this caught him off guard. Like anyone would train you to be prepared to transmigrate. He examined his body and found that his ribs, head, arms, and legs hurt. He probably had a lot of broken bones. That must have been a nasty crash. The world of ¡°The Rise of Dawn¡± had magic. The Priest the Ammadon family called over probably used his on him already. He was supposed to die so he should have looked worse than he did now. It wouldn¡¯t take him long to recover if his memories about healing magic weren¡¯t wrong. Why was he brought here? What was he supposed to do now? Should he find a way to go back? Before his thoughts wandered off again, a sound came from the door. The door became ajar and a little head of white hair peaked out. Little golden eyes similar to his current body stared at his figure on the bed. They soon opened wide when the little kid saw that he was awake. On the outside, Daniel¡¯s face remained calm. On the inside, however¡ So cute. He was ready to burst from the cuteness. The little kid that was supposed to get cornered into becoming a villain. Ezekiel Cade Wyndall Ammadon. Chapter 2: Little Guy Ezekiel Cade Wyndall Ammadon. Kaige¡¯s nephew, and the son of Kaige¡¯s dead older brother. He looked so cute. Looking at him, one would not think that the little five-year-old had the fate of being subjected to schemes and pain that would turn him into a beast. Daniel adored kids. When he told people that, he would sometimes get weird looks from other people. Those people usually would not comment or care and only nod. But some would be bold enough to even call him a pedophile. What was so wrong with a man adoring kids? Women get to dote on little ones without being subjected to the same treatment¡ªsome were even the real pedophiles. Why were men judged differently? He firmly believed that children should never be subjected to any type of pain or suffering that their little bodies and mind could not handle. He hated seeing kids that way. They should play, eat, and learn as they like. Sure, they could be little shits¡ªa lot of the time¡ªbut they were kids. All they needed was proper care and guidance. Who knows? Maybe they might just become¡not-too-shitty little shits. Some of his actions from before were to make sure little kids all over the world would get what they deserved. To not grow hungry. To play. To have a home. To be free. To be happy. To live the life that they want and dream of. There were times he failed, but he did his utmost best for them. Knowing the fate of the little one looking at him with curious eyes, he would not be able to just leave it be. Maybe he should help him. ¡But you can barely take care of yourself, right now. Injured. Unsure of what will happen to him. Did he want to go back home? Should he just stay and embrace his new identity? It felt kind of weird to him. It was ironic, considering he played multiple roles throughout his life. He relaxed his features and put on a small tired smile. ¡°What can I help you with, little guy?¡± Cade looked at him in surprise, staring at him for a few more seconds in silence. Then, he turned his little head down and muttered in a cute voice. ¡°I¡¯m not a little guy,¡± he said. ¡°My name is Cade.¡± Daniel stopped his smile from getting bigger. ¡°Sure, Cade,¡± he replied. He figured he could pull up some of this body¡¯s memories to continue the conversation. ¡°You probably don¡¯t remember me. You were still a baby the last time I saw you.¡± ¡°Are you my Uncle Kaige?¡± ¡°We have the same looks, Lil¡ªCade.¡± He nearly slipped. ¡°And I held you once and fed you from a bottle.¡± The child looked contemplative for a moment. ¡°Weren¡¯t you dying?¡± Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings. Daniel¡¯s smile nearly faltered. He will eventually learn to be tactful. I hope. ¡°I was, but now I¡¯m not.¡± The kid fell silent again. It was kind of awkward talking to someone while they stood with half their body past the door. He leaned back into the bed and motioned Cade to enter with his head. ¡°You can sit on the bed if you like. It will be easier to talk that way.¡± Cade hesitated for a moment but eventually entered. When he reached the bed, he used his little arms and pulled himself to sit on the edge. Now that the kid was closer to him, Daniel had a clearer look at his face. A face from a memory¡ªKaige¡¯s¡ªoverlapped with Cade¡¯s. It was Kaige¡¯s older brother, Declan. Declan Ezekiel Wyndall Ammadon was a prodigious Aurous Gem swordsman. He was the pride and joy of the Ammadon family and was formerly one of the three weapon''s master candidates of the Ixivia Empire. According to the novel and Kaige¡¯s memories, a two-year-old Cade wandered into the woods one day due to a neglectful servant. Declan set out to find him and later returned with injuries seething with demonic energy. Cade had been taken by a high-ranking demon, and Declan did his utmost to save his child. When he finally did, there was good news and bad news. The good news was that Cade was saved and Declan had become a swordmaster at the last moment of the battle. The bad news was, Declan was too injured to recover. Only three days after the incident, he died even with the treatment from the Priests of Thiara¡ªaccording to Damain¡¯s memories. But Daniel knew that wasn¡¯t the case, according to the novel. Declan¡¯s death was a result of the scheming of the family where the so-called protagonists were from. He thought of the stupid family that would lead the Ammadon Family to destruction. The ones who would label Cade as a cursed child would kill anyone he ever loves. Daniel''s fist clenched. His blood pressure was rising the same way it did when he first read the novel. Why the hell were they the protagonists? The author was probably trying to give readers a stroke. He maintained his outward calm. "Where are your grandparents?" "Grandpa took Grandma away after she stayed by your bedside throughout the night," Cade said. "Grandpa will be coming back when he learns you woke up." Daniel nodded and looked down. He still had time before he met Kaige''s parents. He still had to think whether he''d act the same as the real Kaige or be himself. Playing as someone else was tiring. He raised his head when a little hand tugged at the blanket. "You don''t have to keep talking to me," the child said. "You can just rest." Daniel sighed. In the novel, even before his grandparents passed away, Cade was already being treated differently. While his grandparents adored him and gave him enough love, others around him treated him indifferently. Cade would often be alone, with no one to talk to. The mansion staff was pretty neglectful of him too when the heads of the house or the head butler were not looking. In this world, when a mother died of childbirth, it was the poor children who were blamed. Some have the unfortunate fate of being killed. Some continue to live with love from their families but contempt from others. It happened in Daniel¡¯s world too. Whether it was back in his old world or here, there were some narrow-minded horrible humans. Cade learned of this early. He was too smart to not know what was going on and immediately understood why he was being treated the way he was. He felt guilty for something he did not even do and was too scared that his grandparents will one day begin to hate him. Daniel¡¯s heart squeezed. The look on the kid¡¯s face was too familiar. I¡¯m sure he¡¯s a little lonely. ¡°Sleep is for the weak,¡± Daniel said, cheering his voice up. ¡°Besides, why wouldn¡¯t I want to talk to my precious and adorable nephew?¡± He reached his arm¡ªthe one that didn¡¯t hurt that much¡ªand rubbed Cade¡¯s head. Cade stilled. The look on his face was too funny that Daniel ended up chuckling. ¡°What¡¯s wrong? You don¡¯t like me?¡± ¡°No! Yes! Uh...what I mean is,¡± Cade shouted. His little face blushed. He grasped the sheets and played with them. ¡°I¡¯m glad uncle¡¯s here and safe.¡± Daniel, teasing kids is bad¡but, it¡¯s too much fun. ¡°Thank you, Cade,¡± he said. ¡°Once I¡¯m healed up, we can play as much as you want?¡± Cade¡¯s head whooshed up to meet him. Daniel saw the hopeful look which was immediately suppressed in his little eyes. His heart squeezed again. ¡°We''re going have so much fun.¡± After that, he continued to chat with the little one until the kid had to leave for lunch. Once the child left, Daniel went back to rest. Sleep was for the weak after all. He didn¡¯t lie to the kid. Chapter 3: Kaige Daniel felt like he was dreaming and not dreaming at the same time. His movements were sluggish but his mind worked fast. He was in a huge space, filled with all sorts of plants. Plants with similarities back in his world but with a magical touch to them. He walked around in his sluggish state, trying to find signs of life other than the plants. After minutes of walking, he finally heard the sound of steps on the grass from behind him. ¡°Welcome to Alenor, the Forest Fairy Realm,¡± a voice said. ¡°The incorporeal one, of course.¡± Daniel turned to find golden eyes looking straight at him. He knew immediately who it was. Daniel¡¯s whole person seemed to change. His eyes narrowed, shoulders tensed. He looked like a predator about to pounce on his prey. The real Kaige paused and gave him an assessing look. ¡°If I didn¡¯t see how you interacted with Cade earlier, I¡¯d think you¡¯d be a completely different person.¡± ¡°What do you want?¡± ¡°Well, it doesn¡¯t matter,¡± Kaige said. ¡°This is precisely why I want to make a deal with you.¡± Daniel paused. ¡°Details?¡± ¡°No beating around the bush, huh?¡± Kaige nodded with a wry smile. ¡°I want you to save my family and in return, you can live a new life in my body. I don¡¯t care how you do it, as long as in the end, they are safe and happy.¡± ¡°What if I just run far away?¡± ¡°Please, we chose you specifically. You won¡¯t run away from a kid who needs your help,¡± Kaige said. ¡°You¡¯ve been around Cade for only a few minutes but you¡¯re ready to destroy anyone who harms him.¡± Daniel continued to stare at him with a dangerous glare. ¡°Why can¡¯t you just do it?¡± A sad smile appeared on Kaige¡¯s face. ¡°I¡¯ve tried. Three times. But I was never strong or smart enough. Or ruthless enough. It was my damn fate to die before I could do anything.¡± Daniel¡¯s jaw dropped, losing his menacing aura. ¡°But, a year ago, someone approached me. I can¡¯t tell you who. He helped me bring you here¡ª ¡°Must be a supernatural being like a god,¡± Daniel interrupted. ¡°There are gods in this world, after all.¡± Kaige looked like he choked on his saliva. He looked at Daniel in surprise before looking up at the sky with a helpless look. He looked like he was having a conversation with someone up there. In a short while, he turned his gaze back to Daniel. He neither agreed nor denied his guess. ¡°By bringing in another soul with a completely different ¡°fate¡± from me, my family can be saved. I can¡¯t tell you what your fate is though. Knowing one¡¯s fate isn¡¯t good. Me as an example.¡± Daniel wanted to shut him up and let him slowly digest all of this. It was way too much. But the man kept going. ¡°Anyway, we figured you would like this deal,¡± Kaige said. ¡°Plus, you have nowhere to go since you died.¡± There was a long pause. Whatever look Kaige saw on his face, made the man cover his ears just in time. ¡°What?¡± Daniel shouted. Out of all the things that came out of the real Kaige¡¯s mouth, this was the worst. It was followed by a string of curses he knew from every language that he learned. They were colorful words. Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. ¡°One of the many who were squashed under the rubble from a disastrous earthquake, from what I was told. I thought you knew.¡± He was wrong. This is the worst thing that came out of the guy¡¯s mouth. Daniel raised his hands in defeat before finding a large rock to sit on. He faced death almost every day for years, which is why he wasn¡¯t as shocked as he should be. He was so desensitized to it. It was honestly alarming. What he was shocked by was how he died. Looks like even he could not escape a natural disaster. At least he died quickly without knowing the pain. He always imagined that his death wouldn¡¯t be painless. He sat there in silence. Digesting everything that happened and was happening. ¡°Remember your training. Stay calm. Deep breaths.¡± Meanwhile, Kaige removed his hands from his ears when he was sure Daniel wouldn¡¯t shout and curse in the weird languages anymore. He looked kind of hesitant to speak now. Daniel found it funny even though it wasn¡¯t. Kaige was a man who experienced death multiple times, yet he looked at Daniel with pity. Daniel didn¡¯t mind the look. He had already grown used to it when he was younger. He didn¡¯t have much of a choice if he thought about it. He would not ask them to return his soul to wherever it went after death. It probably took a lot of effort to bring him here. And¡if he had to be honest, he still wanted to live. He wanted to do a lot of things he couldn¡¯t do when he was younger. There was danger, with the threat towards the Ammadon family, but it was something he could handle. It was difficult, but he¡¯ll manage like he always did. After a while, he stood. This was an opportunity to live a new life. Every opportunity he was given, he had taken. In doing so, he made it to a point in his life where he experienced a semblance of peace and safety¡ªand nearly achieved his dream too. Hard-won peace and safety. ¡°I accept the deal,¡± he said. Kaige¡¯s golden eyes immediately lit up. ¡°Thank you!¡± ¡°But this seems unfair to you.¡± Kaige quickly shook his head. ¡°It¡¯s fair. You get to live a new life. My family will become safe and happy. I will finally rest in peace.¡± Kaige gave a sad smile. ¡°I think three lifetimes is enough. I don¡¯t want to go completely crazy.¡± ¡°You¡¯re not even sure I¡¯ll succeed.¡± ¡°After seeing how you are with Cade, I don¡¯t have to worry.¡± What does that mean? ¡°Still¡what will happen to you?¡± Kaige took a deep breath. ¡°I¡¯m happy with this, Daniel. I¡¯ll be even happier knowing that I¡¯ll finally rest, or maybe lucky enough to be reborn again.¡± Daniel could only nod. How terrible and tiring must it be to live so many lifetimes and remember everything. The other man motioned for Daniel to take a walk with him through the garden. There, they talked about the things he should know and how their lives were in general. It was pretty mundane compared to their earlier conversation, but it was relaxing for Daniel. When they neared the place where Daniel first woke up in Aleno, Kaige brought up his dream job. ¡°I was told that you want to be a teacher?¡± Daniel nodded. ¡°Well, I am one,¡± Kaige said. ¡°I handled combat classes for the Thean Academy, while I was studying my Botany of Aleno¡¯s Plants degree. I was transferred to Ixivia Academy when I finished it.¡± Daniel nearly tripped over an overly grass-green-colored root he failed to see. ¡°Is this for real?¡± Kaige chucked. ¡°Yeah. You¡¯re going to be handling Botany of Aleno¡¯s Plants.¡± ¡°Looks like I won''t have to worry about the lesson plan.¡± ¡°You won''t. You should be grateful that I wrote it for you.¡± ¡°Mind if I make alterations?¡± ¡°Your life, your job, not mine now.¡± ¡°I feel like I¡¯m going to be dealing with a lot of shit.¡± ¡°More surprises are coming your way. It wouldn¡¯t be fun if I told you now.¡± Kaige laughed. ¡°Time for you to wake up, Daniel¡ªno.¡± Kaige¡¯s golden eyes glowed. ¡°Kaige.¡± Daniel¡¯s face grew solemn, but one could see the determination in his eyes. He nodded. Little lights started floating around him. Those lights looked like they were taking him away little by little. ¡°Can you do something for me, Kaige?¡± the real Kaige called. ¡°What is it?¡± ¡°Be happy enough for the both of us.¡± ¡°You don¡¯t have to tell me that,¡± Dani¡ªKaige said. ¡°I won¡¯t let this end in tragedy. I¡¯ll get rid of the Underdels if I have to.¡± More lights were starting to gather around, covering half his body. Surprise colored the other man¡¯s face. ¡°Where did you learn of the enemy? I only gave you the memories from the start of the first life to not overload you.¡± ¡°From the novel.¡± ¡°What novel?¡± But Kaige had vanished from the spot and had not heard him. When he opened his eyes again, what greeted him was the face of a female version of him. That face smiled at him in relief. ¡°Glad you¡¯re awake, son.¡± ¡°¡Hello, Mother.¡± Chapter 4: New Family So many things happened to him the entire time he was walking around Aleno with Kaige, and he really wanted to take the time to unpack all of it. But he had to push that all aside for now. He was being fussed over by his new family. ¡°Just one more spoon, Kaige,¡± Lizia, his new mother said to him. ¡°One more spoon and you¡¯ll take your medicine.¡± As Kaige, he was 25 years old. When he was Daniel, he was in his early 30s. It was honestly embarrassing to be spoon-fed by someone¡ªeven if that person was your mother. He had tried to protest and say that his arms were well enough to eat soup but all he got was a withering glare. He could see his new father, Zachary, suppressing his laughter from across the room. He did not have to turn his head to look at Cade to know that the little guy was giving him a judgemental stare. Even Head Butler Sandra looked like she was about to laugh¡ªonly the respect she had for the family was stopping her. At least until his father gave her permission to laugh. And laugh she did. Thankfully, there weren¡¯t other staff in the room. He wondered if this was how other children felt when their parents unintentionally embarrassed them? It''s humiliating¡but kind of nice. It was a new feeling for him. He figured it would not be hard for him to adjust to this. Still, he felt kind of sad for the original Kaige. He turned his head when Cade climbed onto his bed. He raised a brow when the little guy pouted at him. ¡°When are you going to get better?¡± he asked. ¡°Are you that excited to play with me?¡± Kaige asked. The little kid nodded his head eagerly. ¡°Really? It''s not because you want to be the only one being babied by your grandma?¡± Cade became even cuter with his puffed-up red cheeks. ¡°Of course not!¡± He felt a light slap on an uninjured part of his arm. ¡°Stop teasing your nephew,¡± his mother said. Kaige only laughed and motioned for the little one to come closer and lean on his side. He could give him the gift the original Kaige brought him. It would keep the little guy entertained until he recovered. This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. ¡°Sandra, can you please get the little yellow box I had from my luggage.¡± The lady butler soon brought the box from the big walk-in closet. Kaige soon placed it between Cade¡¯s legs. ¡°This is your uncle¡¯s present for you.¡± He chuckled at how the little golden eyes lit up as the original Kaige''s did. To others, it sounded like he was talking in the third person, the same way some people talked to children. In truth, he was talking about the kid¡¯s real Uncle Kaige. He was Cade¡¯s uncle now, but he figured that guy would be happy if he phrased it like this for the kid. He was not shameless enough to claim that it was from him. Next time, he would buy the kid presents with his own money. Cade stared at the yellow wrapping for a moment before tearing into it with his little hands. Soon, there were pieces of yellow paper on Kaige¡¯s bed but he didn¡¯t care about the mess. Once the child saw what the present was, confusion set on his face. Kaige found it so cute. He picked up one red book, leaving the other two in the box set. ¡°You like plants like your uncle, right? Especially, magical ones from Aleno?¡± He got a nod as an answer. ¡°Uncle got you child versions of the books used for uncle¡¯s studies in Thean.¡± Kaige opened the small book to a page showing a deep red strawberry-looking plant. Except it was called a bloodberry plant. Eating one tiny fruit would replenish large amounts of blood loss in an hour. He took Cade¡¯s hand and placed it on top of the picture. ¡°It¡¯s enchanted, so when you touch the picture, it would feel like you are touching the real thing.¡± After saying that, the outline of the picture lit up a bit and he could see the growing amazement in Cade¡¯s eyes as he felt the picture. ¡°I love it¡¡± the child muttered. ¡°I love it! I love it! Thank you, Uncle Kaige!¡± Soon he stood, squealing with glee and bouncing on the bed, never letting go of the little red book. Kaige was slightly worried about his broken bones, but he was too happy to say anything to the kid. Luckily, his mother intervened. ¡°Careful, baby. Your uncle is still injured.¡± The child stopped and looked at his uncle. Kaige smiled. ¡°I request a hug, if possible?¡± Cade didn¡¯t even hesitate. He was slow and careful about it, avoiding Kaige¡¯s injuries, and gave him a little hug. ¡°Thank you, Uncle,¡± he said. ¡°Best present ever!¡± ¡°Well, don¡¯t say that just yet because I¡¯m planning on spoiling you with gifts.¡± The child only smiled. Kaige saw him squash the little hope in his eyes again. He sighed. He was only five and already dealing with stuff like guilt and ¡°not feeling worthy.¡± How does this child understand something so complex? When Daniel was five, he was oblivious to it all. So oblivious that he thought it was the norm to be treated that way. ¡°I promised to take care of you,¡± he said. ¡°I¡¯m here now.¡± He rubbed the child¡¯s head and back. No one will hurt you. Not on my watch. He looked at his new parents and Sandra. His father hugged his mother from behind. All three pairs of eyes looked suspiciously shiny like they were about to cry at the sight of him and his nephew. Kaige smiled. No one will touch this family. Chapter 5: Tiny Visitors Kaige smiled at the little figure taking an afternoon nap on his bed. As carefully as he could, he took the book he had gifted Cade and placed it on the bedside table. Then he pulled up the blanket and tucked the little one in. How could this kid be so cute? Or I¡¯m just being biased because he is my nephew? Disregarding those useless thoughts, Kaige got out of bed. It had been two weeks since he arrived in this world. He was honestly a little alarmed when he noticed how quickly he came to accept his new people. When he accepted his new identity as Kaige, it seemed like all former Kaige¡¯s memories had assimilated with him, emotions included. The power that brought him here could possibly control his emotions, and that scared him. He was unable to get proper rest for the first three days. However, he realized soon enough that being scared of such power was futile. Being scared would not get him out of the current situation and will only hamper his ability to accomplish his goals. Do not dwell on things you can¡¯t control. Work around it or work with it. With those words in mind, and a bit of help from Cade¡¯s cuteness, he managed to slowly accept that this was his new life now. Although it could still be awkward with his new parents when Cade wasn¡¯t in the room. He was not used to being doted on by family members so he did not know how to react. But he was working on it. His injuries had also recovered to some extent. He could stand and walk around on his own now, but he was not allowed to leave his room. He would have to wait for a week before that happened. It did not matter to him. Cade came to visit him every day. They read books together and played board games. The past few days were the most fun and peaceful Kaige ever had. Which was why he decided to start preparations, or at least extend the time he had to prepare. The Underdel Family would probably attempt another assassination on him, but not so soon. They would most probably wait three to four months for the news of his ¡°accident¡± to quiet down. He could do something to extend that time frame and he wouldn¡¯t be kind about it. He was still going to need help. Luckily, the former Kaige left me some little helpers. Taking a small container of honey and cookies, he made his way to the balcony of his room. There, he sat at the table and placed the goods down. He recalled his conversation with the original Kaige while they walked around the incorporeal Alenor. ¡ª¡ª¡ª ¡°You should know something.¡± ¡°What is it?¡± ¡°I was born with the ability to communicate and befriend fairies, animals, and plants too. It¡¯s the Ancestral Power I inherited from my great-grandmother. Grandmother called it, Igdarr¡¯s Bloodline. My soul is here in Alenor precisely because the fairies took me in until I¡¯m ready to rest for real.¡± Daniel stared at him with a dumbfounded look on his face. ¡°What the actual fuck? How can you say that with a straight face?¡± This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. ¡°Stop cussing!¡± Kaige glared before continuing. ¡°Unlike others, I don¡¯t need to make a summoning circle or prepare extravagant gifts.¡± ¡°So, they just come to you?¡± ¡°Don¡¯t laugh but,¡± Kaige said, ¡°you have to sing or play music. And offer them cookies.¡± A weird thought popped into Daniel¡¯s head. ¡°Am I going to turn into one of those princesses that would break out in song and dance in the middle of doing something?¡± Kaige looked at him with a raised brow. ¡°Forget it,¡± Daniel waved him away. ¡°It¡¯s something from my old world I had to learn to keep up with my future pupil¡¯s interests.¡± ¡ª¡ª¡ª Kaige sighed as he stared at the variety of flowers and trees in the beautiful garden below his balcony. It had been a while since he sang a song. Why did he have to do this? Next time, he would just play an instrument. He opened his mouth and a soft low voice escaped as he began to sing. Little Lights was a song from Kaige¡¯s memories. One the fairies seemed to love. Out on the bright joyous day Little lights come out to dance today Little lights come out to sing today Out in the sun The forest folk play, play, play Should you wish to join Do bear gifts and fun along For the little lights are shy and be gone The forest folk hide, hide, hide Only to appear on the next bright day The song was short and had to be repeated twice. He made sure his voice was soft to not wake the little one in his room, but for his little helpers to hear. A while later, sweet little jingling noises reached his ears. He looked up and saw three faint lights rising from the garden. In the daylight, they weren¡¯t as obvious, but as they neared him, Kaige started to see outlines of tiny bodies. He was expecting wings, but the concept of fairies in this world did not have them. ¡°Hi-Hi!¡± ¡°Hey!¡± ¡°Are you the new friend Kai-Kai told us about?¡± Cute voices echoed in his mind and he nodded in return. ¡°Nice to meet you.¡± The first two who greeted him looked to be male, with big blue eyes and blonde hair. They looked like twins. One of them had longer hair, which made it easier for him to tell them apart. The last one who spoke was a little female fairy with the same blue eyes but fiery red hair. The three fairies wore beautiful white robes with gold leaves and flowers embroidered at the hem. They looked so ethereal¡and they were the size of his thumb. They¡¯re almost as cute as Cade. ¡°My name¡¯s Cloud!¡± said the male fairy with short hair. ¡°And that¡¯s my twin, Drizzle.¡± He pointed to his long-haired twin. Cloud seemed to be the hyper and extroverted one, while Drizzle seemed to be the quiet one. ¡°Nice to meet you, I¡¯m Blaze.¡± Said the female fairy. It suited her fiery hair. Kaige couldn¡¯t help the smile that appeared from their cute names. The female fairy spoke first. ¡°Should we still call you Kai-Kai?¡± ¡°If you do not mind, just Kai is fine,¡± he said. He got a nickname. Not the cutest but nickname nonetheless. ¡°Thank you for answering my call.¡± ¡°Old Kai-Kai asked us to take care of you and his family. Kai-Kai is our good friend and now Kai is too,¡± the female fairy said. ¡°We will help you!¡± ¡°Thank you. But first, how about you try the cookies,¡± Kaige said. ¡°Do you want honey on it?¡± ¡°Please,¡± Drizzle said. ¡°Honey!¡± Cloud yelled. ¡°Cookies with honey!¡± Blaze. For the next couple of minutes, the young fairies devoured the cookies and honey he prepared. Kaige sat there, content at watching the cute little people. Occasionally, he would reach out and wipe their faces for them. The food would get stuck on their entire faces. ¡°If you want to eat some sweets, you can come to me anytime,¡± he said. ¡°I can make you something better than cookies.¡± He learned a lot (stole a lot) of recipes from watching a world-class pastry chef once. He did it to make delicious treats for the little kids that would come under his care. ¡°Even if you don¡¯t need help?¡± Blaze asked. ¡°Of course.¡± The three pairs of green eyes sparkled. Kaige wondered what he did to deserve all these wonderful experiences. He was in another world. A new life. A family. And fairy friends. He wondered how the chief would react if he learned about his situation now. The look on the old man¡¯s face would be priceless. Chapter 6: Cade Cade was happy. Of course, his grandparents gave him all their love, and that made him happy. But lately, he felt different. Ever since he met his Uncle Kaige, he was happier. Super happy. It was scary to him. He knew it would end quickly if he was not careful. He knew he had an uncle studying super far away on another continent. The only way to communicate was through letters that were sent out every few months. Which was why he had never seen him since he was a baby. His grandparents said that Uncle Kaige loved him very much and always asked how he was and gave him cool clothes and toys. He would have believed them, but the people in the mansion said otherwise. He heard the older sister maids say that the presents were not really from Uncle Kaige. It was from his grandparents instead. He heard them say that when Uncle Kaige came back, he was going to be kicked out because his uncle hated him. Uncle Kaige will become the new Count and not him. Cade didn¡¯t know completely what a Count was. All he knew was that it was an important kind of work being done by his Grandma. He also knew that it would never be his. Cade knew why. He killed his papa and mama. He was a bad child. When he heard Uncle Kaige was coming home, he was really scared. Then his uncle got into an accident and was hurt badly that Grandma cried so much. He worried. Was his uncle going to die too? So, he was shocked when he found his Uncle Kaige awake and he ended up saying something rude. ¡°Weren¡¯t you dying?¡± Cade was sure that his uncle would be angry, but instead, his uncle¡smiled at him kindly. ¡°I was, but now I¡¯m not.¡± Uncle Kaige asked him to come closer. Uncle patted his head and talked to him softly. Uncle promised to play with him¡ªhe had found that hard to believe at first. Uncle gave him a present. It was a set of awesome books about Aleno¡¯s plants. He loved it very much. For the past two weeks, he read books with his uncle and they played many board games and puzzles. He had so much fun. Were the older sister maids wrong? Were his grandparents telling the truth about Uncle Kaige? Did his uncle love him? Was this real or was his uncle pretending in front of his grandparents like the others? He was confused. Cade slowly opened his eyes to find that he was still in his uncle¡¯s room. He remembered that they were reading the second book of the set. He looked around and found that he was alone and the book was on the bedside table. The blanket covered him and kept him warm and cozy. A little smile played on Cade¡¯s face. He heard a laugh he had come to be familiar with come from the balcony. He looked to find his Uncle Kaige sitting there. He looked like he was laughing at something someone said, but he was alone. Was his uncle a little crazy? He got out of bed and approached him. His uncle noticed him immediately and gave him a big smile. ¡°Cade, did you enjoy your nap?¡± Cade nodded and rubbed his sleepy eyes. He could see his uncle¡¯s smile getting bigger. ¡°Come over here please.¡± He did as his uncle asked, and was shocked when his uncle picked him up. Soon, he sat on his uncle¡¯s lap and was given a chocolate oat cookie. His favorite cookie. How did uncle know that? He took a big bite. It was delicious. His cookies were only delicious when Sandra was the one who brought them to him. Otherwise, they tasted bad. He looked up at his uncle to find that he was focusing on something on the table. He followed his gaze and saw a lot of cookie crumbs around the plate. Was his uncle a messy eater? He did not think so. Cade looked back at his uncle to see him nodding with a big grin on his face. This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings. ¡°Cade, would you like to keep a secret?¡± he asked him. ¡°It¡¯s a secret just between the two of us.¡± Cade¡¯s eyes sparkled. ¡°A secret? Please tell me! I promise not to tell anyone else!¡± Uncle Kaige trusted him enough to keep a secret. Just between them. He was happy. No one had ever entrusted him with a secret before. The older sister maids enjoyed telling secrets to each other. It looked fun to him. He wanted to be told secrets too. Uncle Kaige pointed to the table. Soon, little white and gold lights appeared. Cade¡¯s eyes widened when he saw the pretty and tiny people eating cookies as big as their bodies. They wore white robes with golden embroidery. The clothes looked a mess with sticky honey though. No, these aren¡¯t tiny people. Faries! They¡¯re fairies. Like from the books Uncle gave me. ¡°Cade, meet my friends,¡± Uncle Kaige said. ¡°The twins. The one with the short hair is Cloud and the other is Drizzle. The other one is Blaze. They¡¯re fairies that live in our garden. Say hello.¡± ¡°Hello, I¡¯m Cade.¡± He waved his hand at them. Blaze, the fairy with pretty red hair flew towards him and touched his finger. The twin fairies flew to his face and patted his cheeks. ¡°They¡¯re saying, it¡¯s nice to meet you,¡± his uncle said, ¡°and that you are very cute.¡± Cade¡¯s eyes widened. Uncle could talk to fairies. The book said that only special people were the only ones who could do that. Uncle Kaige was friends with fairies. He looked up at his uncle, his eyes sparkling even brighter. ¡°Uncle is cool!¡± He shouted. ¡°Uncle is¡ª¡± He quickly covered his mouth with both his hands. He nearly shouted their secret. He looked down and pouted. ¡°Sorry, Uncle Kaige. I almost shouted our secret.¡± He looked up to find his uncle¡¯s face looked funny. It looked like Grandpa¡¯s face when he was about to pinch his cheeks or smother him in a hug. When that happened, his Grandpa wouldn¡¯t let him go for a long time. He made a move to get up from his uncle¡¯s lap. He was too late. Uncle Kaige wrapped his big arms around him and Cade was squished into a hard chest. ¡°Why are you so cute?¡± Uncle Kaige nuzzled his hair and forehead. Cade tried to get away. His struggle stopped when the three fairies flew to his face and nuzzled his cheeks. What was going on? Eventually, Cade laughed at the four who were nuzzling and cuddling him. His warm and joyous laugh rang loud throughout the gardens. After the cuddle fest, he continued having his snack and talking to the fairies with his uncle¡¯s help. Cade was having so much fun. That was until one of the older sister maids entered the room and brought them tea. Cade focused on his cookie and nibbled on it. The older sister maid smiled at his uncle. ¡°Good afternoon, Master Damian. Here is your afternoon tea and snacks.¡± Then she proceeded to set the food on the table. Cade remained silent. He was surprised when a big hand landed on the top of his head and started caressing his hair. ¡°Am I the only person in the room?¡± Cade shivered. This was the first time his uncle¡¯s warm voice turned cold. The older sister maid also seemed surprised and she looked scared. ¡°P-Pardon, Master Damian?¡± Uncle Kaige continued to be silent and Cade looked up to find him glaring at the older sister maid. The older sister maid stuttered and a look of panic appeared on her face. She turned to look at Cade and made a greeting. ¡°G-Good a-a-afternoon, Young Master Ezekiel.¡± She was shaking the entire time she said it. ¡°Not sincere enough,¡± Uncle Kaige said. ¡°Leave and don¡¯t spoil our afternoon more with your disrespect. Tell the others to never forget to greet their masters. I don¡¯t want this to happen again. ¡± The older sister maid left in a hurry. His uncle continued to pet his head. ¡°Cade, don¡¯t let them treat you like air,¡± his uncle said. ¡°If it happens again, tell Sandra or me and your grandparents.¡± ¡°But, being a tattletale will make me a bad kid.¡± ¡°Who said that?¡± There was anger in his uncle¡¯s voice. Why was Uncle getting angry? ¡°You¡¯re an Ammadon. You should be treated with respect and dignity. You¡¯re the heir. You¡¯re going to be Count Ammadon in the future.¡± Cade looked at him. ¡°Me? Wouldn¡¯t Uncle become the count?¡± Uncle Kaige hugged him. ¡°That position is yours¡ªeven if you¡¯re not even sure how important it is just yet. It was never mine. Do you understand?¡± Cade spoke in a quiet voice. ¡°I¡won¡¯t be kicked out?¡± The hug tightened. ¡°Who¡¯s the piece of sh¡ªwho told you that?¡± Cade didn¡¯t speak. His Uncle Kaige pulled away and raised his head by the chin. ¡°Listen, Cade.¡± His uncle¡¯s voice sounded firm. ¡°You won¡¯t be kicked out. This is your home. If you want something, tell us. If you¡¯re being treated badly, tell us too. If anyone wants to take something from you without your permission, tell me. I¡¯ll fu¡ªI¡¯ll give them a beating for you. Okay?¡± ¡°Beating someone is bad,¡± Cade muttered. ¡°Doing something bad doesn¡¯t mean you¡¯re not good anymore. Being too much of a good person will get you hurt.¡± It confused Cade. ¡°You¡¯ll understand that as you grow older.¡± The three fairies hovered around him, nodding at every word coming out of his uncle¡¯s mouth. Did they think what his uncle was saying was right? ¡°Anyway, you have to promise to do the things I told you, even if you don¡¯t understand.¡± Cade nodded, still confused. ¡°I promise.¡± His uncle was kind of weird, too.
