《God's Blind Eye》 Chapter 1 The False Hope Page 1 FIRST STEP ''Finally, the day had arrived'' Hoilsten had woken up in the ''bedroom''. It can be hardly called a room as it is just a cave with a flat floor and plants growing here and there. The room was dark with two dim orb lights on both sides, filled with children sleeping all about age under 10. Hoilsten went to see the adult side of the room. It was empty. ''It is empty, I guess brother is the one going to wish me first.'' Hoilsten went out of the room to see ''brother''. It was Hoilstens 12th birthday. While going on the pathway, he confronted an adult. Hoilsten could tell she is an adult not only because... well she is an adult but also because she wore a dress with a flower picture on it, as it sort of identity. Whereas, Hoilsten wore a dress with only a round of petals on it signifying he is a child. The woman ran towards Hoilsten, who was raising his both hands, smiling. The woman lifted him and said "Happy Birthday Hoilsten!" Energetically, "You are going to be a young adult today!" "Yes, Mother!" Hoilsten said as energetically as his mother. Hoilsten''s mother dropped him on the floor gently, "Why have you come here, Hoilsten? Do you need anything?" Mother asked. Hoilsten was a little tensed but then he noticed that he is near the fitness room, "I...I was searching for mother and father!" Hoilsten replied. "Where is the father?" Hoilsten quickly changed the subject. "Good morning Hoilsten" Hoilsten heard it from behind, he looked back, "Father!" Hoilsten ran towards him just like his mother did and hugged his father. His father came to his eye level and said "Happy Birthday Hoilsten" with a smile. "Also." His father tapped on Hoilsten''s cheek." He went to the dining ''room'', where he could see three adults and two young adults doing the preparation, knowing his ''brother'' was not there he sneaked out of the room and move towards their meeting place. Hoilsten gets to see his friend Katina ''i should not talk to her, then I won''t be able to meet him.'' he thought to himself and started moving, ''But...'' Hoilsten slowed down,'' It is my 12th birthday. Maybe she could...''.Katina noticed him. "Hey, Happy birthday Hoilsten!" Katina said and waved her hand. "Thank you!" Hoilsten replied. Katina while running made sure he was following her. Meanwhile, Hoilsten is in an isolated room with Jakenial. "What happened?" Jake asked, noticing Hoilsten''s see-through face. ''Did she hear anything?'' Jake asked himself. "Do you want to miss his ceremony? Come on Jake." Katina called Jake. While walking Hoilsten was still confused about whether she know or not. Katina was still in her thoughts ''I think they were talking about the exam, but why do the adults have to hide it from a young adult like Jake.. weird.'' "Happy Birthday Hoilsten" everyone shouted. Hoilsten accepted with a bright energetic happy smile. As he was surrounded by kids. "I am sorry, Jake. I know he would have compelled you for some tips." Hoilsten''s father told sarcastically. "No problem, sir," Jake said while nodding sideways and going along the play. "He told on his own," Hoilsten shouted while pointing at Jake from the middle of the group. On the opposite side, children and young adults. In the center, Hoilsten wears his new top having a flower without its stem. One of the adults came toward Hoilsten with a smile and announced, "Herewith, completing age 11, Hoilsten will be a part of young adults. Here onwards will work for our growth of the family." Some were unconcerned about being here. Some were happy for Hoilsten. But anyway, everybody started clapping. "Okay, everybody, get ready to eat, and Jake and Mandla, you''re coming with me," said the adult and started to bring food on pots, along with Jake. Hoilsten did not sit in his usual place and was at the adult''s table. His plate contains more than usual because it''s his first day as a young adult. However, he might try he couldn''t hide nervousness from his face. At the adult table, there were five adults, including Hoilsten''s parents and Hoilsten himself. One of the adults asked, " Are you happy, Hoilsten?" "Yes, Uncle Felix," Hoilsten replied without a second delay. "Really? but people will be nagging you from now onwards about the daily work you should do, and you won''t have much time to play as before. Not to mention double the physical and mental exercise you have to do daily." Felix stopped there as he heard Hoilsten about to reply, but then he didn''t. Hoilsten was panicked as it came to his mind, ''The test has begun!''. It was the main reason why children hate to turn 12. "It is not a test. Calm down. We are just asking." one of the adults said as if she could read Hoilsten''s mind. Then Hoilsten cleared his mind, about to answer. In the fitness room, Rosey was more or less in the same position as before but had black stains on her hand instead of that stick. "Hoilsten, the test is completed, and I have evaluated your score. Now tell me, what job do you need?" Hoilsten was in front of her, tired and drenched in sweat, standing weakly. "Digger, there are no second thoughts on that." "Then congratulations, Hoilsten, you are now a digger-" "YEAAAA!!" Hoilsten screamed with little tears in his eyes. He ran toward Rosey and hugged her. Then he ran out of the room to say it to everybody. Rosey could hear Hoilsten screaming, "I AM A DIGGER BOY!" outside the room. Rosey couldn''t help but laugh at it. After saying it to as many people as he could, he falls asleep. Then he was woken up by Jake. "Wake up, fellow digger, let''s have lunch.". Hoilsten woke up, comprehending what had happened. Standing up, Hoilsten asked Jake, "How do you know?" "With all your screaming, the whole world knows it...Hey, after lunch, we need to meet." said the latter part with seriousness. False Hope PAGE 3 A Big Change After lunch, the entire ''house'' was quiet because all the children had slept, except for one. Inside a room, but now all the adults are sitting. Margret, Hoilsten''s mother, asked, "Tell Felix. What happened?" "You know¡­ for a long time, I have been teaching Jake some extra stuff other than what we had decided." "What, Why ?" You guys came to know about it and after some time adults also will, we will be honest family once again. We will always be together!" Hoilsten got some relived. Katina blushed. Hoilsten wrapped his arm around Thotrin and Katina " It is a promise." They all went into the hall. It was chaos, with children crying and running. Then Mandla came to them and said, "Hoilsten, adults are missing!" &&&& Chapter 2 The Escape "What? Did you check ALL the rooms?" Katina asked. "Yes, including the adult''s room. But first," Mandla looked at Hoilsten and said, "Hoilsten, we need to calm all the children." "I am on it!" Hoilsten replied. As the two went by, Katina went to see Jake, and Thotrin followed her. In the kitchen, Yelene was cooking food for the children. Then he saw Katina and Thotrin coming, "Hey guys, can you help me with the cooking?" "Yeah, we can. But first, where is Jake?" Katina asked. "Oh, he went to cattle room to see there any kids-" "Okay, thanks" Katina ran off to see Jake. "Uh...she was just gone... at least you help me," Yelene said, looking at Thotrin. Mandla went up front and announced, "Listen, everybody, adults have gone for digging, and they will be coming tomorrow. So everyone should be good. Okay!" "Yes, Mandla!" "That should keep them for a while," Mandla said after the children had dispersed. "They all believe because you said it. No one believes when I say it." Yelene said, "That is because she is a ''Responsible big sister'' figure for children." Jake interrupted their conversation, "This is not the problem. We have to find the adults. And for that, I have to tell something to you guys that I have been hiding for a while," "Hey, it is Hoilsten!" a five-year-old kid asked, " Can you join us in the tag?" "Sorry! Katina, seeing this far away, felt sad for him. She knows that he doesn''t like what he is doing. A couple of minutes after Hoilsten went, Katina and Thotrin went away from the other children. It was far easier for them. Hoilsten, Katina, and Thotrin were walking toward the fitness room. From the look on Hoilsten''s face, Katina could tell what he was thinking. ''This is for them. Don''t feel bad about it.'' They reached the fitness room and saw two more people with Jake, but before they could ask why, one of the people, Mandla spoke up, "We all know. "We searched all of the house," Hoilsten said. "I also checked the library, but the thing is..." Katina stuck. "were the books in the same place?" Jake asked. Cooking was almost done then Hoilsten facing toward other young adults "Can I go play with the others?" "Yeah sure" Yelene replied. "Leave them when they are sleepy" Mandla added. "Okay, Bye!" Hoilsten said. Katina immediately started going toward him "Wait!" They both went to see and went out of the kitchen. "How he can be normal Even now. Knowing there is a possibility that adults..." Mandla asked. "Because he believe on adults, kinda navie if you ask me but he still believes that adults will tell us about the truth when the day comes. He only agreed to my plan so he can dig early" "What! you made dig when he was a child" Mandla asked furiously. Jake immediately stood up and took a pot and said "Time for lunch". Jake escaped from the situation. At sleep time Hoilsten, Katina, Thotrin, Mandla, and Yelene go to the library. "Man, can''t believe there is a secret room in our house all along," Yelene said. "Here we are at the library" Jake was already there. he took out all the ''secret'' books from the keyhole, then he saw Hoilsten and the others coming. "Ok everybody we have only one night to do something we better start doing something productive. Hoilsten, you and me are going to do somewhere else and I want others to read all the books in the library." "What? Where you going?" Mandla asked. "I have come across a pathway mentioned in a book which might be where the adults went to."Jake answered "And for that," Jake looked at Hoilsten with a smile, "I need the help of the fellow digger" Hoilsten face is bright "Let''s go!" the two went to dig and the others started reading except for one who doesn''t know how to read like Thotrin who still pretends to be reading something. after a while of reading, there was just information that they already know, and then, "Why is a Rebellion coming here!" Yelene asked with confusion seeing the words in Thotrin''s book. "You don''t know what it is?" Yelene asked grabbing a book from Thotrin. "Uhhh," Thortin said. "Rebellion means a person who go against the people who put rules." Mandla replied. "Oh," Katina said. "Thotrin do you know how to read?" Mandla asked. "No" Thotrin was afraid. "Then go help Jake and Hoilsten," Mandla said. Thotrin went outside. Thotrin reached where the sound is heard and saw Hoilsten holding a bug smiling with bright eyes. "congratulations! It is indeed a new kind of bug." Jake announced. "YEAH!" Hoilsten was excited. "I going to find some new stuff." Hoilsten started digging. "Be carful eventhough this mud is soft then we digged to find the library, we should not be reckless" Jake said as he is digging. "Boi! Yes!" Hoilsten replied and continued digging. " Uh, wha..." Jake noticed Thotrin. " What happend Thotrin anything to inform?" "Mandla sent me... to help," Thotrin said. "Oh, can you take out the mud with this plate?" Jake gave Thotrin the plate. After an hour. Mandla was reading through. Yelene was biting his nail, this made Katina curious about what it is. The dangerous thing about the above is that there is an animal of some sort that is called a monster. This so-called monster''s origin is not mentioned but the thing is they eat humans... Then one day they went formed an alliance or some sort of condition I don''t know. the condition is that the humans will be sent some people as a sacrifice so that the monsters can breed them and farm them forever..." "I can''t believe people would do that," Katina asked "There is more we are part of the harvest. We have some to help. We don''t know if this is true or not but I need to tell this to Jake so he stops this, one wrong move there might be war again." Yelene said. "No I will go and tell him. it is almost time to awake for children. It is more easy this way." Katina said. He went under the table and gave Hoilsten some water into his mouth. But before he could see Hoilsten''s reaction. He went unconscious.
