《Resonance Cycle》 Book 1 Summary What Came Before (Book 1) Ty was chosen by the gods to be a scion. The fire script gave him all the information he would need to survive and thrive in the new world. After prepping for six months, he walked through a portal that led to the new world. Upon his arrival, and through a series of trials, he was given an arbiter-his personal game master- and selected the god Inspiration* to follow. Throughout the course of his travels on the new world, he inadvertently became the host for almost thirty thousand akkoan souls and discovered another god that seemed to be interested in helping him along. Near the end of his time on the new world, he found host bodies for a handful of his akkoan allies who assured him they would protect his town and resources until he returned from Earth, three whole years later in the new world time. His final character sheet from book 1, which includes spoilers for that book, is included below. I rolled for his proficiency in each skill. He just happened to roll an 8 and then a 7 on Krav Maga, which totally changed how I originally envisioned the character. It led me down some fun paths. Portions of the sheet will be updated and re-stated as needed in the book, and again completely at the end of the book with his final attributes and score. Based on your final score, you may select up to sixty allies. These allies will be placed under the protection of your god. You may designate these people to join you on Earth or prevent them from being removed from Earth during Resonance. Domain: 1 Square Acre. Based on your final score, you may select a domain. This domain will be counted as belonging to your deity, with you as the administrator. As an administrator of a domain, you may move to prevent identified areas within your Earthly domain from being removed during Resonance. In addition, you may exchange objects and features of your domain to and from Earth during each portal opening. You must have designated a domain on both sides of the Resonance Bridge to do this. Resonance 7: Chapter 1 (Edited) Hiya. Due to a tight timeline, coupled with a lack of readership/engagement, I''m going to pull Res 7 down and stop publishing it to Royal Road. I will continue publishing to Patreon and Amazon. I will probably not be publishing to Royal Road again until my next-next-next series, which I think has a better chance at being received by this audience. Cheers. -- Chapter 1: Divine Alloy HOPE IS RENEWED! Ty felt the god¡¯s voice like a physical force. It rang out in the cavern, sending chunks of rock falling from the ceiling. A hand larger than a zalantar¡¯s wrapped around Ty¡¯s, holding him in place. Inside the Arbiter Matrix, the catalyst of the god¡¯s awakening activated the millennia old divine magic. It transformed from inert, useless mass into Salient mana far more potent than anything on Volar or Earth. Fear not, mortal who has awakened me. Stand back and give me space. Once I deal with this fetid spell, I shall come forth and plant the seeds of light in this desolate realm. Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. The thought came across as a shout, an unfiltered declaration. Had he been anyone other than what he¡¯d become, Ty would have obeyed. Instead, as the giant hand pushed at his, Ty twisted his fingers around, gripping the god¡¯s wrist. His senses probed outward, following his aura. Realization hit just as the prompt appeared in his mind¡¯s eye. Notice: The akkoan god once known as Hope, is attempting to purge your Surrogacy spell. If he succeeds, your power will have been spent to no effect. You may attempt to force your spell onto the god. If you succeed, you will hollow the god¡¯s mind out and claim its corpse for your Surrogacy. His mass will merge with the spell. The outcome of such a merger are unknown. ¡°There must be another way,¡± Ty said through gritted teeth, burning mana to hold the god¡¯s purging effect at bay. ¡°I won¡¯t kill a potential ally.¡± Little being. Why do you fight me? Surely you realize that dark spell has no place here. It has been foreseen. My return shall bring forth a new dawn now that our enemies have gone. Hope¡¯s voice was warm and curious, not antagonistic. The magic inside Hope¡¯s prison surged around Ty¡¯s hand. Despite its ancient, foreign nature, his Prism adapted to the divine power effortlessly. It poured into him and the god, dividing between two equally potent reserves.
