    Lina watched as a figure cloaked in shadows walked toward her and knew it was over, herlife''swork lay in ruins. The lab she spent countless hours inwas mostlyin ruins. Recreating technology from pre-system Earth was no small feat. Her breathing hitched, and pain shot through her body and what remained of her limbs. The figure cloaked in shadows stepped forward, and as it did, the shadows seemed to coalesce around her, shefelt hungry eyes upon her. How did this happen? She was cautious, onlya handful of people knewandmost were dead, even done so by her hand. A shadowy tendril wrapped itself around her neck and started to squeeze.Thiscompounded with the blood loss, and she felt her vision fading.
