《Chloe White》 Chloe鈥檚 Origin If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. Chloe White鈥檚 First Day Home "Hi, Chloe White... You''re going to have such a good life with me!" Hytstens said. Chloe White did not say a word because she was frightened. She just stood there, wide-eyed. Hytstens Dranaj finished filling out the papers and paid the price to bring Chloe White home with her. Upon arriving home, Hytstens Dranaj grabbed Chloe White and forcefully threw her out of the car, causing her to yelp in pain. She skinned her knees a little while falling. "CHLOE WHITE! I ONLY ADOPTED YOU BECAUSE I WANTED SOMEONE TO CLEAN MY HOUSE FOR ME!" Hytstens yelled. "But... I-I don''t know how to..." Chloe White said. This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report. "You''ll learn quickly!" Hytstens said, "GROGDA, NEVAEH! Come meet your new servant!" With that, two ugly girls came running down the stairs and rushed out to see Chloe White. Grogda Dranaj, the first of the two girls, had thick, matted brown hair and her face was covered in warts that she tried to hide. Her front teeth were all a bit too large and were crooked. Nevaeh Dranaj had brown hair too, but half of it was shaved off and the other half was poorly braided. Her eyes were the color of vomit and her nose was so very sharp. "Ew! She''s so ugly!" Grogda said. "Yeah! Look at how pale she is! That''s unnatural!" Nevaeh said. "I bet she carries diseases! Hopefully she''s good at cleaning between floor boards! I haven''t cleaned them in years!" Grogda said. "Oh! Oh! And scrubbing the toilets!" Nevaeh said excitedly. "Nah, cleaning the floor boards is worse!" Grogda said, "All those tiny cracks!" "But the toilet! We..." Nevaeh begun, but Hytstens Dranaj cut her off. "Girls, take Chloe White in and get her working right away! I cannot stand walking through filth all the time!" Hytstens said. Under the new family''s supervision, Chloe White managed to clean the whole house up in just what was left of the day! Everything was sparkling, and Chloe White looked very satisfied. Cruelty And Kindness "UGH! SHE''S TOO GOOD!" Grogda cried out. "And she cleaned the toilets, too!" Nevaeh cried. "That''s it, I''m going to throw her outside for the night and chain her up like a dog!" Hytstens said. "No! Please don''t chain me up! I''ve done nothing wrong!" Chloe White pleaded. They did not listen, though. They grabbed her and pulled her outside, chaining her to a fence post. "Hah hah hah! You deserved that!" Grogda said. "How long should we leave her there?!" Nevaeh asked. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it. "Until we need her to clean up again!" Hytstens said and led her own daughters back into the house. In the process, she tracked mud all over the freshly cleaned floors. Chloe White struggled to get free from her chains, but the more she struggled, the more it hurt. Eventually, she gave up and laid down. "It''s hopeless... I''m stuck here..." Chloe White cried. The next few days were the same, Chloe White was only allowed into the house to clean and eat any food that was no good anymore. If Grogda found a slice of bread covered in mold, she¡¯d leave it in a pile for Chloe White to eat. Nevaeh would sometimes offer a bit of clumpy milk to Chloe White. One day, though, a young man named Kennith came riding by on his horse while Chloe White was chained up. "Young girl, might I ask what you are doing chained to that fence post?" Kennith asked Chloe White. "My adoptive mother is cruel and keeps me chained up when I''m not working. I haven''t had much to eat lately aside from a small portion of moldy bread and a sip of curdled milk..." Chloe White said. "Here, take this apple. I was going to eat it myself, but you seem like you need it more than I do," Kennith said, holding out an apple to Chloe White. Chloe White carefully reached out and took the apple from the young man''s hands. "Thank you, apples are my favorite fruit," Chloe White said. Kennith hung around a bit longer. Chloe White had trouble eating the apple because she was chained up. It made her very sad when Kennith eventually turned, mounted his horse, and returned to where he came from. The Boy And The Oldie The next day, while Chloe White was cleaning the house again, Kennith had gone into town to find more food to give her. He came upon an old lady who had a cart set up near a dark alleyway. "Young man... Please don''t pass me by..." the old lady called. Kennith stopped and stared, judging her. "Don''t you have any idea who I am?" Kennith asked. "A young man who''s heart is troubled... A young man who has met someone in need..." the old lady said. "And how would you know?" Kennith asked. "I just know things..." the old lady said, "Buy something, will you? I need money!" "What are you selling?" Kennith asked. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. "Just about anything. I''m sure I can offer whatever it is that you desire!" the old lady said. "Alright... Do you have any apples?" Kennith asked. "Apples? Yes, of course... But why would someone as rich as you need to buy apples?" the old lady asked. "I met a girl who loves apples..." Kennith said. "Fine... Look, I have this real plump apple here. It''s sure to be satisfying!" the old lady said, pulling an apple out of seemingly nowhere. "And how much are you charging for the apple?" Kennith asked. "Pay me 300 pebbles and I''ll give you the apple. If that is what you wish..." the old lady said. "It is," Kennith said. He pulled out a sack full of polished pebbles and sat them on the old lady''s counter. "Is that 300?" the old lady asked. "Should be... Now, give me that apple," Kennith said. The old lady chuckled and handed him a the large apple. It was a gorgeous apple; red with a few green splotches. "Thanks for doing business with me, young man!" the old lady said and stashed away the bag of pebbles. "I''ve got to get going now, thanks," Kennith said. His horse wagged her tail impatiently before he got back on and rode away carrying the expensive apple. He reached Chloe White''s home within no time and found her chained up again. "Hey, I''ve returned... I never asked your name; what is it?" Kennith asked. The Death Of Chloe "Chloe White," Chloe White replied. "Ah, such a nice name... My name is Kennith,¡± Kennith said, ¡°I got you something.¡± "You did...?" Chloe White asked. "Yes, I did. Here it is," Kennith said. He held out the plump apple and gave it to her. "It''s so beautiful..." Chloe White commented. "The one who sold it to me told me that it was a very satisfying apple," Kennith commented. Chloe White hungrily took a large bite out of the apple. Kennith smiled. Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. "Hmm... Delicious..." Chloe White said. She finished off the apple leaving just the core. What surprised Kennith was when she collapsed and did not move. The apple core rolled out of her hand. "Chloe! Chloe!" he called out. She did not wake up, nor did she stir. It was as though she could not hear him. "CHLOE!" Kennith wailed, "WAKE UP!" Grogda Dranaj came out of her house to see what was going on. "Hey! What are you doing here?! Did you kill our servant?!" Grogda asked. "I... I don''t know what happened! She collapsed!" Kennith said. "Nevaeh! Get mother!" Grogda called to her sister who was peering out the door. Nevaeh Dranaj disappeared and returned with Hytstens Dranaj. "You killed Chloe White?!" Hytstens asked. "She ate that apple, ma''am..." Kennith said, pointing to the apple core. "Say, aren''t you the prince? How would your father feel if he knew you were out and about feeding poison apples to other people''s property?!" Hytstens asked. "I didn''t mean to! Honestly!" Kennith said. "Well... Hmm... I don''t want a dead body on my property! I don''t want people to think I''m responsible!" Hytstens said. "Give the body to me, then; I''ll put her in a coffin. Maybe someone can figure out what happened..." Kennith said. Hytstens Dranaj unchained the body from the post and handed it to the prince. The apple core rolled further away. Kennith carried Chloe White with him as he returned to his castle with his horse. The Doctor And The Witch Hours had passed and a doctor named Brennan Easom was standing by the coffin that the prince put Chloe White in. "I can''t seem to figure it out... How could she have died?" Doctor Easom asked. "Mrs. Dranaj believes that the apple I fed her was poisonous..." Kennith said. "Well, there you go then. She was poisoned to death," Doctor Easom said. "I barely knew her... And yet... She seemed so special..." Kennith said. "If she matters that much to you, perhaps there is something we can do..." Doctor Easom said. "But... She''s dead... You can''t bring the dead back to life..." Kennith said. "No... She''ll never be fully alive again, but we could use magic to bring her into a state of almost life," Doctor Easom said. This novel''s true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there. "How?" Kennith asked. "I have a friend who does magic. He owes me a favor anyways, so I might as well call him here," Doctor Easom said. "Please do..." Kennith said. Doctor Brennan Easom sent a message by bird to his friend. "That''s a quick bird, the note will be delivered within no time," Doctor Easom explained. ¡°Gee, I sure hope so... If there is a chance to restore her, I¡¯d like it to be done...¡± Kennith said. Within no time at all, the furry face of a small cat appeared in the window. ¡°I have arrived,¡± the cat said, staring at his old friend. ¡°What! A cat?!¡± Kennith exclaimed, jumping back in fright. In a glimmer of light, the cat transformed into a human with a large duffel bag strapped across his shoulder. ¡°This is my friend who does magic. Flowwsink Treebudge,¡± Doctor Easom explained to the prince. ¡°So I see!¡± Kennith said. ¡°I am assuming this female is the cause of the letter you sent to me?¡± Flowwsink asked, approaching rather casually. ¡°Yes, indeed. Prince Kennith Sheershider here called me to examine the body, but he doesn¡¯t wish for the girl to remain deceased,¡± Doctor Easom said, motioning at the prince. Flowwsink Treebudge adjusted his duffel bag, took a deep breath, and sighed. ¡°I¡¯ve warned you before... It is impossible for me to bring the dead fully back to life,¡± Flowwsink said. ¡°And I know that and I¡¯ve explained everything to the prince and yet... And yet he still desires it,¡± Doctor Easom said. ¡°But of course I do... I¡¯m the one who fed her the poisoned apple like an idiot anyhow!¡± Kennith said. ¡°Poisoned apple! You must have had a run in with one of the few evil witches!¡± Flowwsink exclaimed. Chloe鈥檚 Revival The conversation continued going in circles for some time as the three men argued over this and that. Meanwhile, poor Chloe White remained dead and entirely unaware of the quarreling. ¡°YOU OWE ME A FAVOR!¡± Doctor Easom argued. ¡°YES, BUT THIS WILL PUT MORE LIVES IN DANGER! YOU DON¡¯T GET IT!¡± Flowwsink argued back. ¡°Please... You have to do this for me... I am your prince after all...¡± Kennith begged. Finally, Flowwsink Treebudge gave in. ¡°If this truly is what you want, then fine! Be like that! I will solve this problem!¡± Flowwsink yelled. Flowwsink Treebudge then raised his hand up into the air. A warm red glow emanated from his fingers and turned into a ball of energy. With a flick of his wrist, Flowwsink cast the ball of energy into Chloe White¡¯s body, causing her to glow for a few moments. Her body rose up into the air and hovered before gently drifting back down. ¡°It has been done,¡± Flowwsink said, lowering his hand. If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. ¡°What...? But... She¡¯s still dead...?¡± Kennith said, looking very confused. ¡°No, she¡¯s not entirely dead anymore, just wait, you¡¯ll see. Now, I have to get going. I hope you¡¯re happy with what you¡¯ve done!¡± Flowwsink yelled. He turned back into a cat and left the way he entered. The doctor and the prince remain behind, staring at Chloe White. ¡°She¡¯s still dead... What a cruel joke!¡± Kennith exclaimed. ¡°No, my friend said she was alive... I trust him...¡± Doctor Easom said. ¡°I just can¡¯t believe it...¡± Kennith said, laying a hand on Chloe White¡¯s cold pale cheek. ¡°Would you like me to get you a drink, sir?¡± Doctor Easom asked the prince. ¡°Sure... I suppose...¡± Kennith said with a sigh. Brennan Easom left the room, leaving the prince with Chloe White. As soon as Brennan left, Chloe White lifted a hand and grabbed Kennith Sheershider by the throat. ¡°AHHHH!¡± Kennith shrieked. Chloe White¡¯s eyes opened suddenly and she stared into his eyes. Even though she had brown eyes before she died, she now had bright red eyes. ¡°L-let go of me...¡± Kennith choked. Chloe White squeezed harder, shaking violently. She let out a horrifying screech before finally letting go of the prince. Kennith Sheershider fell to the floor, trying to catch his breath. In an instant, Chloe White transformed into a bat and flew right through the window, shattering it. ¡°C-Chloe...¡± Kennith moaned, holding his sore neck. Brennan Easom entered the room again. Somehow, he didn¡¯t hear the commotion. ¡°Wha! Where is the body?!¡± Doctor Easom exclaimed. ¡°She... She¡¯s alive...¡± Kennith said, slowly getting off the floor, ¡°But... I think something¡¯s wrong... She seemed to be a bit distressed... And, well, she kinda flew out the window?¡± Brennan Easom turned and stared at the shattered window. His mouth fell open in shock. Chloe鈥檚 Flight ¡°We need to find her...¡± Kennith said with a cough, ¡°She¡¯s not in her right mind...¡± Little did he know, but Chloe White was making a trip around the nearby towns, spreading chaos and death everywhere she went. She went from house to house, causing people to go running out into the streets screaming in terror. Those who did not run became her victims. She drained them of their blood. After a few rounds, she flew off towards the Sheershider Woods, leaving the poor townsfolk alone. Exhausted, she flew into an open window of a cabin in the woods. After turning back into a human, she laid down in one of the beds. ¡°Ugh... My stomach hurts...¡± Chloe groaned, snarling a bit as she tucked herself in. She fell asleep quickly and, soon, the sun begun to rise. Now, the owners of the cabin were a group of nightshift workers who decided to work together deeper into the woods. As morning dawned, the group of seven young men came walking through the woods towards their cabin. ¡°Gee, that sure was a hard day of work!¡± one of them said. ¡°You always say that!¡± a second one yelled back. ¡°Well, it¡¯s true! We¡¯ve got to have the hardest job of anyone in the whole kingdom!¡± the first one argued. If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. ¡°Hey, it could be worse...¡± a third one said. ¡°GET OUT OF THIS CONVERSATION!¡± the second one yelled. ¡°I¡¯m just trying to be reasonable...¡± the third one said. ¡°Anyways, what I was going to say before I was cut off...¡± the first one begun again. ¡°Nobody cares!¡± the second one yelled. ¡°Why do we even work together when we barely can stand each other?¡± a fourth one asked. ¡°SHUT UP!¡± the second one yelled. ¡°...I¡¯m just ready for bed...¡± the first one finally continued. ¡°You ALWAYS are ready for bed!¡± the second argued. ¡°Actually...¡± the third one said, butting in again. The fifth, sixth, and seventh members of the group remained silent, rolling their eyes at the foolishness. The men arrived at their house in the woods and the trouble begun again. ¡°WHO¡¯S GOT MY DARNED KEY?!¡± the second man yelled. ¡°Not I!¡± said the first, ¡°I NEVER get to have the key!¡± ¡°I would suppose that they key is being held by the most responsible member of our group that isn¡¯t me,¡± the third man said. ¡°HEY! I AM the most responsible! I think the key has been stolen when I wasn¡¯t looking!¡± the second yelled. ¡°Well, you could ask the silent crew back there... It is kind of suspicious that...¡± the fourth begun. ¡°SHUT UP! NOBODY ASKED YOU! JUST GET ME THE KEY!¡± the second man yelled. ¡°The key is back there, I saw it on the ground and figured you¡¯d have gone back to get it already,¡± the fifth man finally spoke. ¡°WHAT! AND YOU DIDN¡¯T TELL ME SOONER?!¡± the second man yelled. He ran, pushing everyone over like bowling pins, back into the woods. As soon as he disappeared from sight, the fifth man pulled out the keys from his pocket with a grin. All the others laughed as he unlocked the door and let them in. ¡°Uh... This is a problem...¡± the third said, upon seeing Chloe White tucked into one of the beds. Chloe And The Nightshift Workers The men gathered around, aside from the second who was still outside. ¡°Uh, yeah , I would say that is definitely a problem!¡± the fourth one said, nodding his head. ¡°Who is she and why is she in our house?!¡± the sixth man inquired. ¡°More importantly, how did she get in when the door was locked?¡± the third man asked. ¡°Maybe because the window is open...?¡± the first man suggested. ¡°Oh, my goodness... What was the point in locking the door if the window was going to be left open? Who left the window open?¡± the third man asked. ¡°Whoops, whoopsies!¡± the seventh man said, shrugging his shoulders. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. Everyone else groaned in annoyance. Eventually, the second man burst through the open door. ¡°YOU FOOLS! YOU DECEIVED ME!¡± the second man yelled. The others turned around abruptly and faced the second man who was steaming mad. ¡°AND WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING STANDING AROUND MY BED?! GO! GET OUT OF MY SPACE!¡± the second man yelled. He pushed the others aside and saw Chloe White in his bed. He froze up, unsure of what to make of this find. ¡°W-What...? A woman...? How...? Why?!¡± he asked. ¡°That¡¯s what we were trying to figure out...¡± the fourth man said. ¡°The door WAS locked, wasn¡¯t it?¡± the second man asked. ¡°Yeah, but SOMEBODY left the window open...¡± the third man said, glancing at the seventh who was still shrugging in embarrassment. ¡°Woman! Wake up! That¡¯s my bed!¡± the second man yelled. Chloe White didn¡¯t wake up. ¡°Is... Is she dead...?¡± the sixth man asked. ¡°Ew! That would be even worse!¡± the second man remarked. He shook her a bit. ¡°She IS bitterly cold...¡± he remarked. Chloe White groaned and slowly opened her eyes. ¡°Nope, not dead,¡± the fourth man said. ¡°Who... Uh... Where am I...?¡± Chloe White asked, putting a hand on her forehead. ¡°YOU¡¯RE in MY bed!¡± the second man yelled. Problem And Solution Chloe White jumped up instantly. ¡°Oh, no! I¡¯m so sorry! I... I don¡¯t know how I got here!¡± Chloe White said, panicking. ¡°Hey, hey, calm down... Maybe we can talk this out?¡± the third man suggested. ¡°I must be very far from home and... Mrs. Dranaj! Oh shoot! She¡¯ll kill me for sure! You¡¯ve got to help me!¡± Chloe White said, breaking down into tears. ¡°No. You need to go away,¡± the second man grumbled, ¡°If you were a man, I¡¯d have beaten you to a pulp already...¡± Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. ¡°Hey, I say we help the poor woman out!¡± the fourth man said. ¡°I¡¯m merely a child...¡± Chloe White said, blushing. ¡°That makes this a lot worse,¡± the third man said. ¡°Just a child? Aren¡¯t you a bit tall for a child?¡± the sixth man asks. ¡°No, I think you guys are a little short... Just a little...¡± Chloe White says. ¡°We¡¯ve all been working all night long, and we¡¯re tired, so could you please go outside for a bit? We¡¯ll come find you in a few hours,¡± the first man said. ¡°B...but what if Mrs. Dranaj is out there...?¡± Chloe White asked. ¡°I doubt it! Nobody really goes into these woods now-a-days,¡± the third man said. ¡°Okay...¡± Chloe White said. Nervously, she walked to the door. All seven men watched as she entered the woods alone. ¡°How are we gonna find her?¡± the seventh man asked. ¡°Uhhhhhhh...¡± the first man said. ¡°Whoops... Whoopsies...¡± the seventh man said. A Search Party Meanwhile, back at the Sheershider Castle, Prince Kennith Sheershider was receiving word of the dead bodies that were found in various houses around town. ¡°All of them were entirely drained of their blood and had two holes in their neck!¡± the informer, Arne Faucheux, exclaimed. Kennith Sheershider stared on sadly, unsure of what to do. ¡°My father wouldn¡¯t like this...¡± he whispered. ¡°The townsfolk are afraid for their lives, your majesty!¡± Arne shouted. ¡°As they should be... I¡¯m afraid for their lives. And, unfortunately, I know how this happened...¡± Kennith said. ¡°You do?!¡± Arne asked. Reading on Amazon or a pirate site? This novel is from Royal Road. Support the author by reading it there. ¡°Yes, yes I do... And now I¡¯m also even more concerned with finding that lady...¡± Kennith said. ¡°NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR DATING!¡± Arne screeched. ¡°No, this is not for dating purposes... I hate to say it, but I¡¯m going to need a team,¡± Kennith said. ¡°A team?¡± Arne asked. ¡°Yes, a search team... I¡¯m going to need some people to go out and search for someone in particular...¡± Kennith said. ¡°Hmmm... Maybe I can be of some use... Describe the person in question for me and I¡¯ll make you a search team!¡± Arne said. ¡°Well, she¡¯s sort of tall and thin... She¡¯s got pale skin, black hair, and brown eyes. Well, she HAD brown eyes, they¡¯re red now,¡± Kennith said. Arne Faucheux grinned. ¡°Alright... Sounds easy enough...¡± Arne said. ¡°Thank you. Once your men discover her whereabouts, have them report to me,¡± Kennith said, ¡°As you already know, my father is away on a business meeting in another kingdom. All affairs of Sheershider are my business until he returns.¡± ¡°Yes, your majesty...¡± Arne said, heading towards the door. Arne Faucheux stopped at the doorway and turned his head to look at the prince once more. ¡°Soon, you will not need to worry about the girl anymore,¡± he said, smirking. Kennith Sheershider smiled back gently, unaware of the intentions of the informer. Chloe Meets The Men Afternoon rolled around and Chloe White was playing in the woods with the animals. A few deer, five birds, and a wolf sit around the girl. ¡°You silly bird... It¡¯s an easy tune... Here, let¡¯s try one more time...¡± Chloe White said and whistled a tune at the bird. As the bird is about to respond, a crash and thud noise occurs, scaring all the animals. Chloe White rises from her tree stump chair to find the seventh of the group of men had tripped and fell. ¡°Oh, dear... Are you alright, sir?¡± Chloe White asked, approaching. ¡°Y-Yeah... This happens often...¡± the seventh man said. ¡°Quite the clumsy one, aren¡¯t you, then?¡± Chloe White asked. ¡°Y-Yeah I suppose! I was sent to find you!¡± the seventh man said. ¡°Are the others awake?¡± Chloe White inquired. If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. ¡°Yes, yes they are,¡± the seventh man said, ¡°Follow me.¡± Chloe White followed the man back to the cabin once again and found all the men were gathered around awaiting her arrival. ¡°Hello,¡± she said, smiling shyly. ¡°Hello, again. We were about to head off to work, but we though we could at least introduce ourselves first,¡± the third man explained. ¡°Oh, that would be nice,¡± Chloe White said, ¡°I¡¯m Chloe White, by the way.¡± ¡°I¡¯m Slate Fisher,¡± the first man said. ¡°I¡¯m Grant Severn,¡± the second man said. ¡°My name is Reynold Thornton,¡± the third man said. ¡°I¡¯m Steve Fort,¡± the fourth man said. ¡°I¡¯m Sir Chancealot the Third!¡± the fifth man said. ¡°THAT¡¯S NOT YOUR NAME!¡± Grant yelled. ¡°Aw, fine, my name is Joey Fielder,¡± the fifth man said. ¡°I¡¯m Indigo Sickle,¡± the sixth man said. ¡°And I¡¯m Clint Seaton,¡± the seventh man said. ¡°Nice to meet all of you, and thank you so much for allowing me to hide here from the dreadful Mrs. Dranaj!¡± Chloe White said. ¡°No problem...¡± Steve said. ¡°You¡¯ll be fine here while we go to work, won¡¯t you?¡± Indigo asks. ¡°I... I should be... You don¡¯t think anyone will find me, do you?¡± Chloe White asked. ¡°Not at all!¡± Reynold said. ¡°Then I¡¯ll be fine...¡± Chloe White said. ¡°Alrighty! Well, boys! It¡¯s off to work time!¡± Steve said. ¡°More like, off to work ourselves exhausted...¡± Slate said with a yawn. ¡°QUIT BEING LIKE THAT!¡± Grant grumbled. Chloe Vs. Huntsmen Chloe White watched as the men filed out of the cabin and back up the woodland trail to work. She sighed. The seven men had left the house a mess when they left for work. Dust was settling everywhere, the beds were untidy, and none of the dishes were washed! ¡°Huh... I wonder why they didn¡¯t fix this... What a shame...¡± Chloe White said. The sun was setting and would be beyond the horizon in just a few minutes. Chloe White, entirely unaware of her nighttime personality, begun cleaning the cabin up as though it were here own living space. Meanwhile, a group of men sent out by the prince¡¯s informer were scouting the area for the young lady. Chloe White finished tidying up the entire cabin before the last streams of light faded. In the blink of an eye, everything changed once again. ¡°Blood! I must find blood!¡± Chloe White cried out hungrily. Swiftly, she turned into a bat and flew out the window, off into the woods. After circling for a bit, she spotted the search men making their way through the woods. With an evil chuckle, she perched in a nearby tree, causing the leaves to rustle. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version. ¡°W-WHAT WAS THAT?!¡± one of the search men cried out, upon hearing the rustling. ¡°I... I don¡¯t know... Maybe it was just the wind...¡± another man suggested, but he was clearly also frightened. Chloe White transformed back into her human form and dropped down silently from the tree right behind the men. The men looked around nervously, but didn¡¯t think to look behind themselves. A cold hand reached out and snatched one of the men away from the group. He tried to scream, but she muffled him. ¡°I suppose you were looking for me?¡± Chloe White whispered quietly to the man, ¡°Well... I found you first...¡± She bit his neck, causing him to scream again. The other men looked behind themselves, and at first didn¡¯t see Chloe White in the tree. Chloe White dropped the dead body out of the tree. ¡°AH! HE¡¯S DEAD! HE¡¯S BEEN MURDERED!¡± one of the men cried out. ¡°Who¡¯s next?¡± Chloe White asked, chuckling. She licked her bloody lips as the blood trickled down her chin. The men screamed and grabbed the dead body, preparing to retreat. However, Chloe White was faster and managed to kill another of the men, leaving just three alive. ¡°I thank you for your generous gift...¡± Chloe White said and laughed. She would have killed another man, possibly the whole group, but they fled for their lives faster than they ever thought they could run. ¡°Hah hah... What a shame... All their blood could have been mine!¡± Chloe White said, making a fist. With her belly now full again, Chloe White retreated back to the cabin, once again falling asleep in Grant¡¯s bed. Bad News Later, the men who escaped from Chloe White made it back to the castle carrying their two dead men. Informer Arne Faucheux was the first to greet them as Kennith Sheershider was already asleep. ¡°My huntsmen! What has happened to you! Did you not locate the woman of interest?!¡± Arne asked, seeing the dead carried by the living. ¡°We have, dear sir, but...well...she¡¯s a vampire...¡± one of the three living men reported. ¡°She snuck up on us and killed first one of us, then another as we were trying to retreat!¡± a second huntsmen reported. ¡°We were not prepared for such a turn of events... You will be letting the prince know of our troubles, will you not?¡± the third huntsmen asked. Arne Faucheux sighed and closed his eyes. ¡°Yes, of course... It is his fault our men have died... They will have a proper burial at first light,¡± Arne said. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version. ¡°Yes, sir!¡± the remaining huntsmen said. ¡°As for you who are still alive... Get some rest,¡± Arne said, turning his head briefly to glance at the men. The huntsmen departed and the informer went about his business. It wasn¡¯t long after the burial that Kennith Sheershider awoke. ¡°Your majesty, you may recall that I had a team assembled for you to search for your girl,¡± Arne began. ¡°I just woke up and yet you bring me news?¡± Kennith asked, raising an eyebrow before yawning sleepily. ¡°We have located where she is hiding,¡± Arne said. ¡°Oh! Good! Good!¡± Kennith said, grinning, then he stopped and asked, ¡°So why is it that you look so sad?¡± ¡°Two of our men were brutally murdered by her. You forgot to mention that she was a vampire,¡± Arne said. ¡°Oh, no...¡± Kennith said, ¡°I know she didn¡¯t mean to!¡± ¡°But what has been done has been done. The men were buried just before you awoke. The three who are still alive await your decision,¡± Arne said. ¡°I don¡¯t know anything about vampires... but I sure am glad she is relatively alright,¡± Kennith said, yawning again, ¡°I suppose you could search the library for information...¡± ¡°Of course, your majesty... Your servants should be arriving shortly with your breakfast. Are you comfy?¡± Arne asked. ¡°Ah, yeah. I am feeling fine,¡± Kennith reported. ¡°Very well, then; I will leave,¡± Arne said, turning and leaving the room. ¡°I wonder if there is any way to save that girl...¡± Kennith wondered out loud to himself. Chloe, We鈥檙e Home! Back in the woods, the seven young men returned to their cabin once again. ¡°Huh? Why is everything so clean...?¡± Indigo inquired. The men looked around at their living space in awe. That is, until Grant Severn found Chloe White in his bed again. ¡°HEY! I TOLD YOU TO STAY OUT OF MY BED!¡± Grant yelled, ripping his blanket off of Chloe. Chloe White woke up and yawned sleepily. ¡°Huh...? Oh! I must have accidentally fallen asleep!¡± Chloe says, jumping out of the bed. Love this story? Why are your teeth red?¡± Indigo asks. ¡°She must have eaten our food!¡± Grant yells. ¡°That¡¯s strange... I don¡¯t remember eating anything...¡± Chloe says, ¡°All I remember is cleaning the house and the next thing I know, I¡¯m being woken up from Grant¡¯s bed!¡± Clint Seaton trips over his own feet and crashes into a shelf, dropping books all over the floor. ¡°Oh! Are you alright?¡± Chloe asks, walking over there and helping him up. ¡°Y-Yeah... Sorry, I made a mess again...¡± Clint says, looking very sad. Chloe White helps Clint Seaton up before stooping to pick up the books as well. ¡°Well. Time for me to sleep...¡± Slate says, making his way towards his own bed. Of course, Grant Severn starts grumbling angrily about this, though, at the same time, he also would like to sleep. ¡°Thanks again for helping us clean up. How about you go back to playing in the woods until we fetch you again?¡± Steve suggests. ¡°Okay. I do understand you¡¯ll need some rest... Nothing bad happened to me last time and the animals around here are so nice!¡± Chloe says. Strange Man In The Woods Chloe White exits the cabin and the men go to bed. Taking a different path through the woods this time, Chloe stumbles upon a little stream and follows it. ¡°Such pretty water... I wonder where it leads!¡± Chloe White says, grinning. As she is walking, the wild animals rediscover her and follow along with her. ¡°Hello, beautiful creatures!¡± Chloe White says, taking notice, ¡°Have you guys been down this way before?¡± The animals do not reply, but continue following. Among the group is the same few deer from before, but a pair of foxes have joined them today. A squirrel climbs down a branch and gently plops down onto Chloe White¡¯s head as she is passing. Eventually, the stream widens and reveals a gorgeous lake and meadow which were hiding deep in the woods. ¡°Now I see!¡± Chloe White says. She stoops to touch the water and, when she does, she realizes that she lacks a reflection. ¡°Huh? That¡¯s strange...¡± she says. The animals gather around and cast their reflections into the pool of water. ¡°Where¡¯s my reflection?¡± Chloe White asks. She dips her hand into the water and allows the crystal clear fluid to flow between her thin pale fingers. ¡°Maybe...¡± Chloe White begins, ¡°This is not a normal pool of water?¡± If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. The animals sip from the water and look over at Chloe White curiously. ¡°Maybe the reflection of humans cannot taint the water,¡± Chloe White concludes. She brings a handful of the water to her mouth and sips it. As she does, some of it spills back into the lake, but the water starts to grow reddish. Surprised, Chloe jumps back. The animals become frightened as well and take off, leaving Chloe White all alone. ¡°Oh, no! What have I done?!¡± Chloe White wails, ¡°I ruined the perfect water!¡± At the time, the huntsmen are returning to the woods to search for Chloe White again with their new found knowledge. From the information in the castle library, they have learned that Chloe and other vampires, are most vulnerable during the day. Chloe continues crying loudly, alerting the men that she is nearby. ¡°There she is...¡± one of the men whispers, ¡°Who¡¯s going to approach her?¡± For a little, nobody answers. All falls quite as even Chloe White stops sobbing. ¡°I will, give me the necklace and I will charm her to her death,¡± another man volunteers. The first man hands the second a necklace with a cross charm. ¡°There you go... Be very careful...¡± the first man says. ¡°I will...¡± the second man whispers. He takes the necklace and hides it in his pocket before approaching Chloe White. She notices his reflection in the bloody water and turns abruptly to see him. She gasps. ¡°W-What are you doing here?!¡± she asks, glancing around curiously. ¡°Ah, my dear... I heard you crying in the woods and I was very concerned!¡± the huntsman says. Chloe White backs up a bit, nearly falling into the water. She stops herself just in time and takes a deep breath. ¡°I¡¯m fine... Please leave...¡± Chloe White says. ¡°I will leave, soon... Say... A pretty young lady like you would look good with some jewelry,¡± the huntsman says. ¡°Jewelry?¡± Chloe White asks, tilting her head slightly. ¡°I just so happened to have come across a nice necklace and I think it might suit you well,¡± the huntsman says. ¡°Oh... No, thanks...¡± Chloe White says. ¡°Would you really pass up a free gift...? Can¡¯t you at least try it on?¡± the huntsman asks. ¡°Look, I don¡¯t even know you...¡± Chloe White says. ¡°Here, I¡¯ll put the necklace on you so you can see how pretty it looks!¡± the huntsman says. Before Chloe White can further object, the man slips the necklace around her neck and fastens it tightly. Chloe White begins to panic and choke and, before long, she collapses to the ground. Quickly, the huntsman runs back to his group where he is greeted with high-fives and cheers. ¡°The vampire is dead for sure! Let¡¯s go back and tell the advisor!¡± the huntsman says. Dead Woman Walking The huntsmen all turn and run back the direction they came from. Some time passes before Joey Fielder is sent out to find Chloe White, and, when he does, he bursts out screaming. ¡°Huh? Is that Joey? What could he possibly be screaming about?¡± Indigo inquires. ¡°I bet it¡¯s just another of his lame jokes!¡± Grant grumbles. ¡°No, I¡¯ve heard his play screams before... This one is serious!¡± Reynold interrupts. ¡°I say we go check the situation out,¡± Steve suggests. ¡°Yeah, well, after five more minutes... I¡¯m too tired...¡± Slate says, hugging onto his pillow and rolling over. ¡°YOU¡¯RE ALWAYS TIRED!¡± Grant yells. With that, Clint Seaton falls out of his bed and hits his head. ¡°Ouch! My head!¡± Clint wails. ¡°Come on, Clint, Slate, we need to go see why Joey is screaming,¡± Steve says, helping Clint off the floor. Grant Severn shoves Slate out of bed. ¡°Get up, you lazy head!¡± Grant yells. ¡°Now, now, Grant... Be reasonable...¡± Reynold says. Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author. ¡°YOU BE REASONABLE!¡± Grant yells back. ¡°Now is not the time for this! Break it up!¡± Steve yells. Reluctantly, Grant Severn leaves Reynold Thornton and Slate Fisher alone. Slate slowly rises from the floor. ¡°Well... I suppose I could sleep later...¡± Slate moans. The six remaining men venture out into the woods and, before long, discover Joey Fielder crouching next to Chloe White¡¯s body. ¡°OH HECK! JOEY KILLED THE GIRL!¡± Grant yells. ¡°...I...I didn¡¯t... I found her like this! She¡¯s dead!¡± Joey wails. ¡°Hey... What¡¯s this...?¡± Indigo asks, crouching by the body. ¡°Huh?¡± the other men wonder. ¡°Why! Someone went and choked her with a necklace!¡± Indigo exclaims. Quickly, without even being asked, Steve Fort snatched a sharp stick and handed it to Indigo Sickle. ¡°You might be able to snap the necklace with this... Just be careful not to jab her neck...¡± Steve says. ¡°Thanks,¡± Indigo replies. ¡°But, she¡¯s already dead... How will removing the necklace help?¡± Slate asks with a yawn. Indigo Sickle slips the stick under the necklace and snaps it. ¡°And I wonder... Is that her blood in the water...?¡± Indigo wonders as he removes the now broken necklace. As soon as the necklace is removed, Chloe White begins to stir. ¡°She... She¡¯s alive!¡± Steve exclaims. ¡°Where... Where am I...?¡± Chloe White moans, slowly opening her eyes. ¡°Chloe, we thought you were dead!¡± Steve says. Chloe White rubs her sore neck and then sees the blood colored water again and gasps. ¡°What happened?!¡± Chloe White asks. ¡°That¡¯s what we want to know!¡± Grant grumbles and crosses his arms. ¡°I don¡¯t remember anything... I just.. I walked into the woods...¡± Chloe White says, putting a finger to her chin. ¡°We found this tied around your neck,¡± Indigo says, holding out the broken necklace. Chloe White¡¯s eyes widen in horror and she hisses, falling into the water. ¡°Huh, perhaps showing her the thing that nearly killed her was a bad idea...¡± Indigo says. Steve Fort fishes Chloe White out of the water. ¡°Come on, we need to get you somewhere safe... Whoever has done this thing might still be around...¡± Steve says. ¡°T-thank you...¡± Chloe White says, dripping wet. The seven young men help escort Chloe White back to the cabin. Grave News Quite a while later, back at the castle, Informer Arne Faucheux was reading a letter alone in the library. A look of horror crossed his face as he silently read it through again in disbelief. The huntsmen entered the library with huge grins on their faces. ¡°You¡¯ll be pleased to know, Chloe White is dead!¡± one of the huntsmen announced. Another held his hand out to stop the first, realizing something is wrong. ¡°Sir, why do you look distressed?¡± the second huntsman asked. ¡°...the king is not coming back...¡± Arne said, quietly holding up the letter. The huntsmen gasped in horror. ¡°What happened to his majesty?!¡± the third huntsman asked. ¡°According to this letter, pieces of his ship were discovered washed ashore on the neighboring kingdom¡¯s land...¡± Arne said, ¡°And I, as the informer, must tell the young prince this terrible news...¡± The huntsmen fall silent as does Arne Faucheux. At this time, Prince Kennith Sheershider is in his room, entirely unaware of what has happened. He glances into his mirror and grins. This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. ¡°I can¡¯t wait to see my father again. I think he¡¯d be pretty proud of me for how well I¡¯m handling the kingdom... And! I think I¡¯ve grown an inch since he left!¡± Kennith said. Kennith Sheershider gently grabbed a painting off of his desk of himself with his father. ¡°Father, I hope you come home soon...¡± Kennith said, gently stroking the painting. There is a knock on the door. ¡°Who¡¯s there?¡± Kennith inquired curiously. ¡°The king¡¯s informer, young sir,¡± Arne replied. ¡°Oh! Come in!¡± Kennith called out cheerfully. Arne Faucheux walked into the room and stopped abruptly upon finding the prince with the painting. ¡°Have you heard word from my father? He told me he would send a letter before he comes home,¡± Kennith said, smiling innocently. Arne Faucheux doesn¡¯t say anything at first. ¡°Well? Don¡¯t keep me waiting!¡± Kennith said. ¡°Uh, no... I actually haven¡¯t heard word from your father yet. Perhaps he decided to extend his stay. You know how royal business goes sometimes,¡± Arne said. ¡°Then what is it?¡± Kennith asked, setting the painting down gently. ¡°We, uh... We thought you¡¯d like to know... We¡¯re trying to find a cure for your lady so that we can bring her back safely...¡± Arne lied. ¡°Wow! That¡¯s fantastic! How much longer do you think it will take?¡± Kennith asked. ¡°Well, we don¡¯t have a vampire to test the solution on... so we¡¯re going to need to run lots of tests. It would be a shame if we ended up killing her instead, now wouldn¡¯t it be...?¡± Arne asked. ¡°You¡¯re right... I want her to survive...¡± Kennith said, ¡°Thank you.¡± ¡°Anything for you, your majesty!¡± Arne said with a bow. Witch And Huntsman It was awhile later when the old lady from before approached one of the huntsmen at the market place. ¡°You, sir! You look like you need to know something!¡± the old lady exclaimed, taking hold of his hand. ¡°Do I? And who are you that you know answers to questions I have yet to ask?¡± the huntsman asked. ¡°I have a special skill! I can see a certain look in your eyes! Someone you know has met with a terrible fate, have they not?!¡± the old lady asked. ¡°Actually, you¡¯re right... A few of my friends have died recently,¡± the huntsman said. ¡°Beware! The murderer still lives! I can sense it!¡± the old lady exclaims, ¡°Come with me, young man, quickly!¡± The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. Unsure of what to make of this, the huntsman decides to play along and follows the old woman to a dark alleyway between buildings around the market place. ¡°Look, here!¡± the old woman said and held up a pocket mirror. ¡°It¡¯s a mirror,¡± the huntsman stated. ¡°Look into it,¡± the old lady said. The huntsman gazed into the mirror and the mirror showed him a vision of a dark aura amongst the trees surrounded by the seven woodsmen. ¡°What is that darkness...?¡± the huntsman asked. ¡°That is the murderer! Her true form cannot appear in the mirror, but the darkness within is evident!¡± the old lady said, ¡°To kill her for real, you¡¯ll need a wooden stake!¡± ¡°And how can I kill her before she kills me?¡± the huntsman asks, ¡°She¡¯ll recognize us from our last attempt to murder her.¡± ¡°Bring the other two huntsmen to me. I will enchant you all with a transformative spell to disguise you!¡± the old lady said. ¡°Alright, here, take some money,¡± the huntsman said before setting a large bag of colorful pebbles before the woman. ¡°Thank you, kind sir! This world needs more people like you!¡± the old woman said. Protection Plan Meanwhile, Chloe White was with the woodsmen as they were deciding what should be done to protect her. ¡°I say somebody should stay awake and keep an eye on Chloe White today while we sleep,¡± Steve said. ¡°I volunteer...¡± Slate mumbled, nearly falling asleep right there and then. ¡°NO WAY! YOU WOULD FALL ASLEEP! AND THEN THEY¡¯LL KILL HER AS YOU SLEEP!¡± Grant yelled, grabbing Slate¡¯s shoulders and shaking him. ¡°N-no! I promise!¡± Slate said. ¡°Grant is right for once, Slate...¡± Reynold said. ¡°FOR ONCE?! WHAT IN THE HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! I¡¯M ALWAYS RIGHT!¡± Grant yelled, letting go of Slate Fisher in order to beat up Reynold Thornton. Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation. ¡°Yeah! Reynold, Grant has been correct TWICE!¡± Joey said with a laugh. Furious, Grant Severn started attacking everyone in sight. ¡°Sir, please!¡± Chloe cried out, ¡°Calm down!¡± Grant Severn stops and glances at Chloe White. ¡°Gee, I guess I shouldn¡¯t be trying to kill you all in front of the child...¡± Grant says, blushing in embarrassment. ¡°Hey, it¡¯s alright, Grant... we all get angry sometimes...¡± Reynold says. ¡°I absolutely promise I will not fall asleep!¡± Slate says, ¡°I want to prove that I¡¯m not just a sleepy guy and that I can stay awake when it matters!¡± ¡°Then you better mean it. Her life is at stake,¡± Steve says. ¡°I promise!¡± Slate says again. ¡°Now that that¡¯s settled, I guess we should be sleeping so we have enough energy to go to work tonight. Someone else can guard Chloe White tonight,¡± Steve says. ¡°Alright, goodnight, guys!¡± Chloe calls out. All the men aside from Slate Fisher return to their beds with loud yawns. Slate glances at Chloe White and smiles. ¡°Nobody is going to lay a finger on you, I promise!¡± Slate says with a yawn. ¡°Thank you, this means a lot to me,¡± Chloe says, ¡°How about you follow me into the woods? I¡¯d like to be with nature...¡± ¡°Huh? I... I suppose,¡± Slate says. A Clever Disguise A few short minutes after the other men have fallen asleep, Slate Fisher follows Chloe White into the woods. ¡°It sure is a beautiful day today,¡± Chloe White comments, taking a deep breath of the fresh wood air. ¡°I agree,¡± Slate says. Chloe White and Slate Fisher continue on for awhile until they are deep in the woods. Slate sits down by a large shady tree and watches as Chloe calls the animals over. ¡°Wow, you sure do have a pretty singing voice,¡± Slate comments. ¡°Thanks, I think the animals agree with you,¡± Chloe White says. The animals gather around as Chloe White sings gently to them. Slate Fisher yawns again, his eyelids falling heavily over his eyes. ¡°Slate?¡± Chloe White calls out after some time. Slate Fisher does not respond as he is fast asleep. You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story. ¡°Poor guy... It must be exhausting working all night and then being expected to stay up all day... I¡¯ll be nice. I¡¯ll let him sleep...¡± Chloe White says. With a giggle, Chloe White dances through the woods followed by some deer, a flock of birds, and a wolf. A raccoon also joins in, trying to sing its own song with shrieks and chitters. ¡°It really is a beautiful day. I don¡¯t see how it could get better than this,¡± Chloe White says with a laugh. Eventually, though, the animals depart and leave Chloe White alone in the woods. Everything falls silent. ¡°Okay, guys... See you later!¡± Chloe White calls out to the animals. A branch snaps nearby, causing Chloe White to jump. ¡°Slate?¡± Chloe asks. There is no response and everything falls silent again. ¡°Hmmm... Joey, then, is it?¡± Chloe White asks with a giggle, ¡°It¡¯s alright, you can come out.¡± Out from the trees appears three beautiful birds. ¡°Oh! Hello, little birds!¡± Chloe White cries out in excitement, ¡°All the other animals have left me. I¡¯m surprised you have arrived just now!¡± Without thinking, Chloe White stoops and holds out her hands to hold the three new birds. ¡°Wow, you sure are the most gorgeous birds I have ever seen!¡± Chloe White says, looking the birds over. Without a further moment of hesitation, the birds suddenly are holding the wooden stake they received from the mean old witch. Chloe White gasps, stepping back in fear. The birds back her into a tree and impale her with the wooden stake. Afterwards, they fly away and regain their human forms. ¡°Yes! This time for sure, the horrible nasty vampire is dead!¡± one of the huntsmen cries out. ¡°We better get out of here before anyone catches us...¡± a second huntsman states. With that, the three huntsmen flee from the woods once again. Chloe White is silent and hunched over, pinned to the tree by the wooden stake in her chest. It isn¡¯t until awhile later that the other nightshift workers wake up to check on Slate and Chloe White. The Impossible Is Possible ¡°Slate! Chloe! Where are you two?!¡± Indigo calls out. ¡°HE BETTER NOT BE SLEEPING OR ELSE I¡¯LL MAKE SURE HE NEVER WAKES UP AGAIN!¡± Grant yells. ¡°That will not be necessary, Grant,¡± Steve states. ¡°Yeah, that would be unreasonable. We¡¯d have one less person to help pay rent,¡± Reynold reasons. ¡°Yeah! He¡¯s probably just hiding around one of these trees, waiting to ambush us!¡± Joey calls out, popping out from behind a tree. Startled, Clint Seaton trips and falls down. Luckily, he was at the back of the line so nobody else tripped over him. ¡°Oh, ow!¡± Clint yelped. With that, Slate Fisher woke up from his nap, realizing Chloe White was gone. ¡°Oh no... I lost Chloe... I have to find her before the others realize I¡¯ve been sleeping...¡± Slate whispers to himself with a yawn. Carefully, Slate Fisher scans the woods, looking for any sign of the girl. ¡°Chloe, where did you wander off to...?¡± Slate calls quietly. ¡°Oh, hey, there¡¯s Slate!¡± Steve announces suddenly. Slate Fisher¡¯s heart begins to race as he realizes he has no excuse for losing Chloe White. The other six young men approach Slate. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it ¡°Say, where is Chloe White...?¡± Indigo inquires, looking around. ¡°I... Um... She¡¯s... She was following me! I uh, I bet she¡¯s hiding as a prank!¡± Slate says. ¡°Ooh! A prank, huh?¡± Joey asks with a laugh, ¡°Alright, Chloe! Give us your best scare!¡± Joey Fielder runs off into the woods behind Slate. ¡°W-Wait!¡± Slate says. ¡°I say we follow him,¡± Steve says. ¡°Yeah!¡± Clint says. Clint Seaton goes to take a step forward and ends up tripping over a rock. ¡°Ouch... I wish I wasn¡¯t so clumsy...¡± Clint groans. ¡°But then you wouldn¡¯t be Clint,¡± Reynold says, shaking his head while grinning. A shrill shriek sounds and the remaining 6 men make a mad dash towards the sound. All of them gasp in horror when they see what Joey Fielder is screaming about. It is Chloe White, still impaled to the tree. ¡°She¡¯s dead again! How dreadful!¡± Steve wails. ¡°SLATE! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!¡± Grant yells, grabbing a stunned Slate Fisher and shaking him. ¡°I... I... I don¡¯t know how this happened! I kept an eye on her, I really did!¡± Slate says, crying. ¡°Well, it wouldn¡¯t make sense to leave her impaled to the tree...¡± Reynold reasons. Reynold Thornton gently tugs on the wooden stake and it becomes dislodged. Chloe White collapses to the ground and, at first, lies completely still. ¡°I¡¯m so, so, sorry, Chloe White...¡± Slate says, sniffling. Chloe White groans and starts breathing again. As if by magic, the hole heals up. ¡°What in the world?!¡± Indigo exclaims in confusion. Chloe White opens her eyes and looks at the men. ¡°Oh... W-what happened...?¡± Chloe White asks, getting up off of the ground. ¡°We found you staked to a tree with this!¡± Steve announces, pointing to the wooden stake that Reynold Thornton is holding. Chloe White shrieks in fear and runs off. ¡°Oh, gosh dang it, we did it again...¡± Indigo says, shaking his head. ¡°We really ought to stop showing her the very thing that killed her...¡± Reynold says, burying the stake in the soil. ¡°Hey, at least we know she is alright. If she wasn¡¯t okay, she wouldn¡¯t have been able to run off like that!¡± Steve points out. ¡°But we still need to do something about Slate!¡± Grant yells. ¡°I...I...I¡¯m sorry!¡± Slate stammers. ¡°Should we go find Chloe White before she gets killed a third time?¡± Indigo inquires. ¡°Yes,¡± Steve says. ¡°Do you think whoever did this will return...?¡± Indigo asks, looking nervous. ¡°I sure hope not! That wasn¡¯t funny at all!¡± Joey says. Incompetent Back at the castle, the huntsmen are meeting with the prince¡¯s informer once again. ¡°Alright, men. Did you really do it?¡± Arne asks. ¡°For sure this time!¡± the first huntsman announces. ¡°Shhhh, keep your voice low,¡± Arne shushes, ¡°We wouldn¡¯t want for the prince to hear...¡± Nervously, Informer Arne Faucheux glances around to make sure the prince isn¡¯t eavesdropping. ¡°We staked her to a tree. She was completely unguarded so surely nobody would have noticed,¡± the second huntsman reports. ¡°Good, good... So I better not hear that she is still alive...¡± Arne says, wringing his hands. ¡°...Maybe we should check with the witch just to be sure...¡± the third huntsman says after a pause, ¡°We can¡¯t be too sure this is the last of her.¡± ¡°But it has to be. According to the books, a wooden stake to the heart is death for a vampire,¡± the first huntsman argues. ¡°Well, she also somehow survived the cross necklace,¡± the third huntsman points out. ¡°I agree that checking with the witch is the best idea,¡± Arne says. There is a rustling noise, suddenly, which startles the men. This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source. ¡°What was that?!¡± the second huntsman asks. ¡°Go check it out,¡± Arne commands. Shaking in fear, the second huntsman peers around the corner only to find a cat sitting on the steps with a piece of paper. ¡°Awww... It¡¯s a cat!¡± the second huntsman announces. ¡°Really? What is a cat doing in the castle? I don¡¯t recall the royal family owing any cats,¡± Arne says. ¡°He has a piece of parchment,¡± the second huntsman says. ¡°Uhhh...¡± Arne says, checking his pockets quickly, ¡°I think you need to grab that back...¡± ¡°Okay. Here, kitty...¡± the second huntsman says, bending over to take the parchment from the cat. With a hiss, the cat, who is Flowwsink Treebudge, takes off with the letter in his mouth. ¡°He¡¯s taking off!¡± the second huntsman announces. ¡°CHASE HIM! WE CANNOT LET THE PRINCE SEE THAT LETTER!¡± Arne yells. The other huntsmen join in the chase, all grabbing at Flowwsink Treebudge. They clonk heads a few seconds into the chase and fall down, giving Flowwsink some time to escape. ¡°YOU IDIOTS! FOR HUNTSMEN, YOU SURE ARE INCOMPETENT!¡± Arne screeches. Flowwsink Treebudge runs all the way to the prince¡¯s bedroom while the huntsmen are still getting up off of the floor. ¡°Your majesty, a letter for you,¡± Flowwsink says after dropping the letter in front of the door. Looking back and forwards, Flowwsink Treebudge takes off running again. Prince Kennith Sheershider opens his door, expecting to see a person, but sees no one. He notices the piece of parchment on the floor and stoops to pick it up. He takes it to his room and shuts the door. ¡°A letter, huh? I¡¯ll bet it¡¯s from my father! He must finally be coming home!¡± Kennith says with a chuckle, ¡°Funny that my informer said nothing about receiving a letter.¡± Kennith Sheershider unrolls the parchment and looks it over. Then, he takes a seat on his bed, all the light draining from his eyes. ¡°...no... This cannot be... There has to have been a mistake...¡± Kennith says, trembling as he reads the letter. Tears begin to fall from Kennith Sheershider¡¯s eyes, and he eventually tosses the letter down. ¡°NO! THIS ISN¡¯T FAIR!¡± Kennith wails, ¡°DAD, PLEASE! DON¡¯T BE DEAD!¡± Kennith Sheershider sobs loudly, drawing the attention of all the servants in the castle aside from the informer and his huntsmen. ¡°Your majesty...is everything...¡± one servant begins. ¡°NO! LEAVE ME ALONE!¡± Kennith wails, ¡°ALL OF YOU LEAVE ME ALONE!¡± Stunned, the servants back off, giving the prince some space. Kennith Sheershider covers his head with his pillow, still sobbing very heavily. A Taste Of Humanity In the next few hours, the seven nightshift workers are still searching for Chloe White after she ran away in fear. They have checked behind almost every tree, it seems, and yet the girl is no where to be seen. ¡°Chloe! We¡¯re sorry! Please come back!¡± Steve calls out. They eventually find her sitting in a field of flower, staring off into space. ¡°Chloe...¡± Steve says. ¡°...Who can I trust...?¡± Chloe asks, turning to look at the men. ¡°I understand you are confused and frustrated...¡± Steve says. ¡°Angry, even!¡± Grant yells. ¡°What have I done? Why does everyone want me dead?¡± Chloe asks, staring sadly at the men, ¡°All I ever wanted was to live a peaceful life...¡± ¡°If it¡¯ll make you feel better, we can skip work tonight and stay around to protect you...¡± Reynold suggests. ¡°No... It wouldn¡¯t be fair of me to prevent you all from doing your job... I think... I think it is time I start standing up for myself,¡± Chloe says with a determined look on her face. ¡°Whoa, seems Chloe White is growing up!¡± Slate says. ¡°Are you absolutely sure? We don¡¯t want to find you dead again...¡± Indigo says. If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. ¡°I am sure...¡± Chloe says, clenching her fists. The men look at each other and nod. ¡°Be wary of strangers,¡± Steve says. ¡°Unless they have chocolate cake!¡± Joey says with a laugh. ¡°NO!¡± the other six men shout. ¡°Thank you... Thank you all... I wish you good luck on your work tonight,¡± Chloe says. The men nod and turn to leave. The sun is getting close to setting, now, and Chloe White is starting to feel sick to her stomach. ¡°I don¡¯t feel so good...¡± Chloe moans, getting up to head back to the cabin in the woods. Right as she is about to reach the cabin door, she reverts back to being a vampire again. ¡°BLOOD!¡± Chloe White shrieks, turning into a bat. Hungrily, Chloe White flies around, searching for her next victim. All seven nightshift workers are safely tucked away in their place of employment and completely unaware of Chloe White¡¯s plight! She swiftly weaves between the trees until she finds a figure walking along an old dirt path. ¡°Chloe! Chloe!¡± the figure calls out, looking around nervously. It appears to be Prince Kennith Sheershided himself! A glimmer twinkles in Chloe White¡¯s eyes as though seeing this familiar face triggered a sense of humanity. Carefully, she transforms back into her humanoid self and drops down from the tree nearby. Startled, the prince turns and sees Chloe standing there. ¡°Hello,¡± Chloe White says, her eyes twinkling. ¡°Ah! Chloe White! I¡¯ve searched everywhere for you!¡± the prince declares. ¡°Y-you have...?¡± Chloe White asks, trembling. ¡°Yes! And I have a gift for you,¡± the prince says. He digs in his cloak and pulls out a bright red apple. Chloe White¡¯s eyes widen as she stares at the beautiful fruit. ¡°Wow, I love apples!¡± Chloe White exclaims. ¡°It is yours,¡± the prince says and puts it into her hands. ¡°Thank you,¡± Chloe White says. ¡°Go on, enjoy it,¡± the prince says, grinning. Chloe White takes a big bite of the apple and begins chewing. All of a sudden, she begins choking and sputtering. She holds a hand to her throat and collapses first to her knees, and then onto her face. The apple rolls away from her and hits a nearby tree. ¡°HAH HAH HAH HAH! THOSE DARNED HUNTSMEN COULDN¡¯T KILL THE VAMPIRE, BUT I SURE HAVE!¡± the prince says. In a flash of light, the figure transforms, revealing itself to actually be the mean old witch from earlier. Quickly, she runs away from the scene of the crime, leaving Chloe White¡¯s body crumpled on the ground. A few minutes after the old witch departs, a wolf arrives and sniffs curiously at the body. It then stands up straight with a look of horror on its face before running off into the woods. Follow That Wolf ¡°Hey, uh... Why is there a wolf inside?¡± Joey asks a few minutes later. ¡°Hah, nice one, Joey! As if we¡¯d believe there is actually a wolf in the building!¡± Steve says, laughing. ¡°No, I¡¯m being serious...¡± Joey says. The wolf runs up to the men while they are busy working and whines at them urgently. ¡°AHHH!¡± the other six workers exclaim when they see the wolf. The wolf¡¯s ears go down and it stares sadly up at the men before glancing back at the door. ¡°Well, I¡¯ll be... It seems to be trying to tell us something...¡± Reynold says. ¡°Really? What could it want from us humans?¡± Indigo inquires. This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. ¡°It seems urgent. I think we ought to follow it,¡± Steve says. ¡°HEY! NO! WE CAN¡¯T JUST SKIP WORK!¡± Grant yells. ¡°Alright, if you want to keep working, that is fine. The rest of us will follow the wolf,¡± Reynold says with a shrug. ¡°UGH! FINE! WAIT FOR ME!¡± Grant yells. The seven workers rush out of their place of employment, following the eager wolf. ¡°Why, this is the path back home!¡± Steve states. Clint Seaton trips over a rock and falls over. Quickly, he gets back up and continues running after the others. ¡°W-Wait for me!¡± Clint exclaims, tripping over a log. The wolf leads the men all the way to the place where Chloe White lies before disappearing into the woods. ¡°CHLOE WHITE!¡± the men exclaim. ¡°She¡¯s dead again! I knew we shouldn¡¯t have left her!¡± Steve wails, crying. ¡°The poor girl... She was so young...¡± Slate says. ¡°We saved her twice! There has to be a way to save her again!¡± Reynold says, checking the body over. There is no obvious sign of what happened to Chloe White. There is no necklace to break or stake to remove. She¡¯s just dead. Reynold Thornton sighs and looks up at his friends. ¡°Guys... We cannot save her this time...¡± Reynold says, sniffling. All the men begin to cry, even Grant Severn and Joey Fielder. Every single one of them feels guilty for Chloe White¡¯s death even though it wasn¡¯t their own fault. Laid To Rest Back at the castle, Prince Kennith Sheershider is perched at the end of his bed. The area around his eyes is red from crying and his shirt is a mess. He groans bitterly, still deeply saddened by the loss of his father. Informer Arne Faucheux shows up at the door. ¡°...why didn¡¯t you tell me...?¡± Kennith asks, briefly glancing up before glaring at his own feet. ¡°Your majesty... It was a mistake, honestly... I was waiting for the right moment... I... I didn¡¯t want to hurt you...¡± Arne says, ¡°You know I¡¯ve always wanted what is best for you...¡± ¡°THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME SOONER!¡± Kennith yells. ¡°Well, I have learned from my mistake. I have come to report to you news I have just now received,¡± Arne says. ¡°What? What could you possibly have to tell me?!¡± Kennith asks. ¡°You asked for my help. You wanted me to find that young woman of yours. And you may recall that she was a vampire...¡± Arne says, clearing his throat. ¡°Was? Did you cure her?¡± Kennith asks. ¡°We were very close to finding the cure, I¡¯m sorry... Chloe White has died,¡± Arne says. ¡°NO! THIS CANNOT BE!¡± Kennith yells. ¡°I¡¯m sorry... We did all we could...¡± Arne says. ¡°Have you given her a proper burial, at least?¡± Kennith asks. ¡°We have not buried the body yet. She currently lies in the woods near an old cabin,¡± Arne says. ¡°I must see her. If you¡¯re not going to burry her, I will. It is my fault she died, anyhow!¡± Kennith yells. Before the informer can stop him, Kennith Sheershider gets up from his bed. Quickly, he dusts off his clothes and combs his hair smooth. Without a second glance at the informer, he leaves to the castle stable. From here, he mounts his gorgeous white horse with the long flowing gray mane and tail. ¡°On, Horse! To the woods!¡± Kennith cries, gently kicking the horse. The horse neighs and takes off at a canter towards the woods. By this point, the seven nightshift workers have built a coffin and are preparing to lay Chloe White down in it. ¡°She really was a pretty young lady...¡± Steve states, ¡°It¡¯s such a shame she died so young...¡± The others nod. The author''s tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. ¡°Are we absolutely sure she is dead for real?¡± Indigo inquires. ¡°Yes... There is no sign of life in her body...¡± Steve says. ¡°Who¡¯s going to lay her in the coffin?¡± Indigo asks. None of the men volunteer. Not a single one of them can bare to handle laying the young girl to rest. ¡°We can¡¯t do this! It¡¯s wrong!¡± Joey wails, ¡°And I¡¯m not kidding, either!¡± ¡°I know, Joey... I know...¡± Slate says. Kennith Sheershider arrives on his horse and halts before the men. ¡°The prince of Sheershider!¡± the men exclaim and bow before the prince. ¡°Rise, men...¡± Kennith says. The seven men stand up straight. Kennith Sheershider dismounts his horse and approaches Chloe White. ¡°Chloe White... You were a magnificent work of art...¡± Kennith says, kneeling to get closer to the body. ¡°We tried to keep her safe since the day she showed up at our house,¡± Steve states. ¡°Thank you... I do not blame you for her death. I am, alone, to be blamed...¡± Kennith says, ¡°Because I was a fool and unknowingly fed her a poisoned apple.¡± ¡°We were about to bury her, but we cannot bare to do so...¡± Grant says, sniffling. ¡°I¡¯ll do it...¡± Kennith says. The seven shorter men watch as the prince lovingly lifts Chloe White from the ground. He holds her in his arms for a moment. With a sigh, he lays her down in the coffin. ¡°Chloe White... I barely knew you... I wish I could have known you better... I loved you. I still love you. Forever, you will be in my heart...¡± Kennith says. He leans closer and kisses Chloe White on the cold dead lips. He withdraws with a look of disgust on his face. He turns and spits a garlic clove into the grass. ¡°Yuck!¡± Kennith exclaims, ¡°That came out of her mouth!¡± ¡°Your majesty! Look!¡± Clint exclaims. Kennith Sheershider turns back around and sees Chloe White opening her eyes. ¡°Ughhhh... Where am I...?¡± Chloe White asks. ¡°Chloe!¡± Kennith exclaims. ¡°SHE¡¯S ALIVE!¡± Steve exclaims. ¡°It must have been that kiss!¡± Reynold reasons, ¡°The kiss saved her life!¡± ¡°Oh Chloe... I was so worried!¡± Kennith exclaims. ¡°M-my prince!¡± Chloe White says, lifting a hand to touch his face. Kennith Sheershider leans in and kisses her on the lips again, this time, for longer. ¡°Awwww!¡± the seven men exclaim. ¡°Let me help you to your feet,¡± Kennith says. He gently takes Chloe White¡¯s hands in his and pulls her up out of the coffin. ¡°Funny... I don¡¯t recall what happened to me...¡° Chloe White says. ¡°It¡¯s best you don¡¯t know... Come with me, my darling...¡± Kennith says. ¡°I¡¯d love to!¡± Chloe White says, then she turns to the other men, ¡°I will remember your kindness towards me. I will come back to visit, I promise!¡± ¡°We¡¯ll miss you, Chloe,¡± Steve says. ¡°Bye!¡± Chloe White says, waving. The seven men wave goodbye to Chloe White. Kennith Sheershider mounts his horse and then helps her up after him. ¡°I¡¯ve got a bone to pick with a certain informer...¡± Kennith says as he is riding with Chloe White. ¡°Oh?¡± Chloe White asks. ¡°He has been withholding information from me despite that being his job. As it turns out, my father has died and I am to be coronated as king... I¡¯m nervous...¡± Kennith says. ¡°I¡¯m sorry... But I¡¯m sure you¡¯ll do fine. You¡¯ll make for a great king,¡± Chloe White says. ¡°And you, my darling, would make for a great queen,¡± Kennith says, ¡°That is, if you¡¯d like to marry me...¡± ¡°Oh! But of course! I love you!¡± Chloe White exclaims. ¡°I love you too,¡± Kennith says. In the end, Informer Arne Faucheux and his huntsmen were sentenced to the dungeon. Kennith Sheershider became king and took Chloe White to be his wife. However, the wicked old witch has yet to be captured and she still lurks around Sheershider Kingdom. As for the vampire curse, well, the new king¡¯s love has proven to be effective at keeping the monstrous tendencies at bay. The End!
