《I became a Nanobot, in a fantasy world, luckily with a system.》 001 - Nanobot is weak alone John was a slacker in school and enjoyed his days only playing games, sci-fi or fantasy, in the evening and weekends while sleeping at school, only aiming to pass grades with his scores. One day, while he was sleeping in class, he dreamed of the catastrophic end of a powerful technology empire. The dream was short, and only images were to be seen. No sound, no motion, like a quick-moving slide show. "Hmmm... Weird dream," John mutters as he opens his eyes lazily, only to be stunned. He was drifting in an illusionary space, and in front of him appeared a box like in the RPG games.
Name J4592 (John)
Primary unit 1
Secondary unit 0
Status Rebooted nano unit,in progress updating systems... Failed to update. (due to incompatible hardware) Generating a new system from scratch (good luck) System generated successfully. (With an 85% chance of failure, aren''t you lucky?) Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Weird. John thought as he looked at the out-of-place text on the window. Ignoring that, he quickly went through the information again.. "So I am a Nanobot, and I just got rebooted... With new hardware? And has a new system? Which I was lucky to get with such a high failure chance? I was always a bit lucky. Is this a dream?" Confused, John still doesn''t know how he became like this, only that he either died or his soul got Transmigrated. Either of the two he doesn''t know and feels like a bad dream. Putting this aside, there were 3 other windows as well as 2 3D virtual boxes, one of which looks like a map with a white glowing dot in the center on a transparent flat floor with gray dots all over the glowing white dot. The other box has a mechanical bug-like 3D model; this should be his body. There were also stats about it, and according to the stats, he understood that it was clearly weak and that a lot of secondary units were required to strengthen it. As for the windows, the one in the center is what he believes to be the overview. The other two are blank at the moment. Nanobots are really weak on their own. 002-Virtual Assistant System John put aside the windows and recalled the systems that were generated. ¡°With a system, I will be able to become strong quickly,¡± he thought as he called out the system in his mind. After a while of silence, a shy voice came from the depths of the illusionary world¡ªthe voice of a child. ¡°Hello, I am your System Assistant, and I will assist you with all my power, sir!¡± John froze, hearing a child''s voice, and had a bad feeling all of a sudden. He wanted to make sure he understood the ¡°assist¡± part. ¡°You mean assist, as in I complete tasks you give me-¡± ¡°No, I am new, so I can''t give tasks and rewards.¡± Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author. John was cut short by the system before continuing meekly. ¡°But I can assist by creating virtual tools like these you have here, as well as connecting to the System hub and looking for tasks we can complete for system points.¡± John remained silent as the system finished. After a few seconds of silence, John asks, ¡°System hub, as in a gathering place of systems? And what system points? What tasks?¡± John was confused, as he didn''t expect that system hub to even exist. ¡°Yes, it''s a social network for systems; we are sophont after all. As for system points, it''s our currency we use to trade with. And tasks are challenges other systems give to newbies like us; all newbie systems and first hosts are in it together, and with those points we can learn new things.¡± ¡°What about buying things?¡± John asks curiously, finding it odd that the system only mentions learning things and not buying them. ¡°I am new and do not have permission to trade physical goods.¡± Sighing, John knew that it was going to be a hard life; he was a slacker, and now he cannot afford to slack. ¡°What''s your name?¡± ¡°I am your Virtual Assistant System, VAS¡±, replied the system after a short silence. 003-Basicly working with scraps "So VAS... do you have only this?" John said as he pointed at the virtual windows and boxes. "This is what was left from the scraps of the previous programs of the nanobot system," answered VAS, causing John to freeze. "Wait? Scraps, as in, only the things remain?" John wished he was wrong right now. "Yes, due to the unknown energy, it causes the software and hardware of the nanobots to malfunction, and the energy acts as a virus as well, as if it refuses other types of energy signals to exist." "So this energy would attack me too?" John couldn''t help but ask since he was the nanobot right now. "No, you see, this is the only nanobot that survived and adapted; it absorbed your soul as you passed by, according to the senior, to fully adapt since you had what it needed." John wanted to ask about this ''senior'' , but chose not to since he guessed it was that weird message in the overview window from before (ch-001). So he asks instead. "So what was needed from me?" VAS remained silent for a few seconds before replying in a confused voice. "I don''t know." The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. "Okay..." John was frustrated, but he knew that, as a newborn, it was impossible to know everything. He decided to focus on their current situation first. "What tasks are there to do?" "Insufficient energy to connect to the hub." VAS replied with a sad voice; clearly, VAS tried but failed to connect. "Okay, can we gather energy? Like absorbing energy in our surroundings?" John asks, thinking that it should be possible, how else the nanobot could have previously absorbed his soul. "The software and knowledge were lost. How? I don''t know, but I believe we should receive energy again, according to my knowledge of how the nanobots were destroyed." VAS replied. "That sucks." John was dejected but feels like it''s too troublesome to ask further about it. "So what can we do with the energy we have?" "We can only reform the nanobot''s body." VAS moved the virtual box with the 3D bug model in front of the other windows and map. John looked at the virtual box as it was moved as VAS continued, "We can only do it once before going into sleep mode." Hearing this, John first thought that was not needed until he looked closer at the bug model, then, without hesitation, he said, "Let''s make it in cylinder form like a cocoon first." The reason for this choice is, firstly, that nanobots tend to have buglike features; secondly, it would reflect his current state in his opinion; and thirdly, the bug in the box looks like a cockroach. As the cockroach form of the model changed form, John felt like something left his body as well as something else entered his surrounding space. Before he could even think about what just happened, he passed out as he entered sleep mode. 004 - Cursed beauty Meanwhile, John and VAS entered sleep mode. They were in the underground facility filled with tons of ''dust'', but something happened above ground. The underground facility was located in an eerie silent forest, where trees as tall as 10 meters stood. The forest was known as the death silence forest. No living being could settle in the forest other than plants. The other name the forest was given by alchemists and the like was Plant Haven, as all sorts of plants could be found there. At this moment, a group of five soldiers from a nearby kingdom were carrying a Metal coffin as they made their way deeper into the forest. "Captain, why don''t we dump her here and leave? Even if there are no beast monsters, this place still gives me the shivers." One of the soldiers asked as he kept looking around, and the other soldiers, other than their captain, nodded in approval. The captain glared at the soldier as he berated him. "This monster here has a powerful curse on her; everyone who touched her is now dead due to her magic. The king has ordered us to drop her into the abyssal hole in this forest. This forest is already so eerie; if there were no other way to get rid of her without causing a magical plague, we wouldn''t be here, so keep moving." If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. The soldiers remained silent after that as they followed the captain. Just as the captain said, after awhile they arrived at a hill with a deep hole at the top of it. After they got to the top, they moved the coffin to the edge of the hole and opened it. One of the soldiers could not help but mutter, "If it weren''t for the curse, this beauty would have already been the 3rd prince''s toy." The girl was wearing an elegant dress. She has long, wavy hair that cascades down her back. Her facial features are delicate, and she has large eyes with thick eyelashes. The dress she is wearing is white in color with intricate detailing along the neckline, sleeves, and hemline. It also features a bow at the waist, which adds to its overall elegance. The captain glanced at the girl lying unconscious in the coffin as he nodded in agreement. Then he looked at the other soldiers who were memerized. "Stop looking and dump her in the hole; this place absorbs mana, so the plague won''t come about if she dies." With that order, the soldiers tilted the coffin, dumping the girl into the hole. They dropped the coffin aside and left afterwards. 005-Well, its better than nothing "Ow ow ow ow ow, FUCK!" John awoke with pain, as if shocked. It didn''t last long, but his entire being felt numb. After calming himself, he couldn''t help but ask himself, "What the hell happened?" "We just experienced that our energy got converted into another, similar energy, and this energy seems to be a constant flow. It''s clearly stronger and purer; should I check the system hub for information?" responded VAS to John''s own question. The sound of his voice even sounded a bit worn, as if VAS also went through the pain. "No, see if we can somehow track and find the source; if possible, we can take that source for ourselves. Do we have enough energy to create limbs and travel to the source?" "Yes," replied VAS, and on the Virtual model display, the cylinder nanobot grew four spiderlike limbs and another pair at the back. The two pairs on the frontal part of the body are used to push the obstacles in front of it aside while also moving with the obstacles on the back to travel between obstacles. The 3D map starts showing a blue line from the white dot that represents J4592, going upwards, as well as a hazy blue covering the area. VAS also made a command for the cylinder nanobot to follow the source, as VAS was busy tracking the route and displaying it on the 3D map. If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. "What is this blue haze around us?" Asked John, pointing at the blue haze on the map. "It''s the energy we are absorbing around us," Replied VAS, and John responded with just an ''Oh''. It didn''t take long for the nanobot to arrive at the source; a mountain of blue energy was displayed on the map. Due to having no program for sight at the moment, John could only use the map to ''see''. "I detected that we can enter the source and use the energy detector I modified to survey this source internally. Should we proceed?" Asked VAS, as the map went through a change, among the mountain of energy, a scar of purple appeared, representing the opening. "Sure, but is there a way to cover this opening? like using the dead nanobots somehow?" John asked, and as he stared at all the gray on the map, he already knew they were dead nanobots. "Yes, but it requires energy, which we can only gain after entering." VAS replied. John nodded, and the J4592 entered the mountain. As they entered the map, started to zoom out and reveal a humanoid form of blue energy. At the area where the heart lies, the blue energy pulses at a slow rhythm, repeatedly cycling between bright and dim. It is probably producing the energy. At the brain area, a bright blue light was gathering and disseminating energy to the body. There is also energy leaking from the body in five places: the head, left arm, right leg, abdomen, and neck. John was frustrated, he found a source, but it''s clearly time-limited now. "Well, it''s better than nothing." 006-VAS going to the System hub "Hey, VAS, how much time is left for the creature to live?" John asked as he eyed the wounds. "Approximately 30 minutes left." Replied VAS. "Since I''m a nanobot, does it have a function to extend the time in here? like to think faster." "Yes, its function just requires energy; we can extend 10 minutes into an hour." John was glad when he heard that. "In accelerated time, can you enter the system hub?" "1 minute, in reality, equals 1 day in the system hub; only systems can enter the hub." VAS replied. This made John''s ''eye'' twitch. "Okay, how long would we have with the accelerated time precisely?" John asked after a moment''s pause and added quickly, "Create a timer on one of the empty windows we have and leave the other for my personal use." "If we use the function, we have 150 minutes." VAS Create the timer window John asked for.

John took control of the last empty window and started messing with it as he spoke. "Go and see if we have any beginner gifts; see what we need; and inform me of things we need to know, like the energy and rules we must look out for. I don''t want to be targeted by a ''senior'' system or the admins of the hub." "Understood." After VAS replied, John felt VAS''s presence decrease greatly. Using the virtual window, he learned how to use it and discovered what he wanted to write on the window; he just needed to think about what he wanted to place on it.
Plans
1. Identify energy.
2. Gain intel from the source.
3. Take control or drain power from the source.
4.Create/absorb nanobots.
5. Create a network of nanobots.
Not long after, VAS''s presence increased as it returned. VAS listed everything he gained on the window.
1. Warnings.
a. By entering the hub, you agree to be monitored.
b. Access coordinates are being recorded.
c. When a task is accepted, the supervisor system will keep watch, and you will be monitored outside the hub.
2. Energy is mana; current mana is unique to the source and is currently too risky to convert to normal mana.

007-WTF!? John looked through the list once and said, ¡°Can''t you add explanations?¡± VAS didn''t answer, but opened another window.
Skill Rank Decryption
Possession E Take command of the target. The target has no secrets from its master.
Nanorobotics C Nanobiotics is an interdisciplinary field that combines the principles of robotics, nanotechnology, and materials science to develop nanoscale robots.
Material Science D Materials science is an interdisciplinary subject that encompasses the physics and chemistry of matter, engineering applications, and industrial manufacturing processes.
Nanotechnology D Nanotechnology refers to the branch of science and engineering concerned with the design, fabrication, and use of structures, devices, and systems through the manipulation of atoms and molecules at the nanoscale, i.e., one or more dimensions on the order of 100 nanometers (100 millionths of a millimeter) or less.
Principles of robotics E A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Automation F The technique by which a device, process, or system is automatically operated
Sensing F Various detection applications.
Actualization F To realize an action or to make real.
Programming D Basic programming languages
Magic E Basic knowledge about mana and its use in the world.
¡°Okay, let''s take these six first.¡± John decided on Actualization, Automation, Magic, Possession, Programming, and Sensing. Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. VAS quickly bought them that total of 38 SP, leaving them with only a meager 12 SP. John wanted to ask VAS about some things but put it off until later. ¡°Let''s add the sensory eyes first.¡± Two semicircular eyes formed at the front end of the 3D model, and a virtual screen appeared in front of John. What he saw made him wonder. ¡°VAS, we are in a living thing, right?¡± John asks, as he sees only different colored particles everywhere. The map was enlarged, and the white dot shone brightly in the blue light. ¡°As you can see, we are inside the creature; it seems that the living beings of this world have no things like cells and are made only of mana.¡± John was silent for a while with a frown on his nonexistent face before giving orders to VAS. ¡°VAS, with the knowledge we have gained to transform the limbs of our body into a more efficient traversable format construction and then go directly to the brain, we''ll obtain all the secrets of this world and also save our mana source.¡± ¡°Understood.¡± Replied VAS as he set to work. The pair of limbs they had used for crawling became a pair of nozzles and served as thrusters. The pair of limbs that had previously been used for climbing became spiky hands with three sharp fingers. The pair on their backs became long and flat and were used for steering while they moved. As they approached the brain, VAS detected another energy that resembled John''s soul. ¡°Discovered energy resembling a soul. In the area of the brain¡± ¡°It is not yet dead, so the soul remains. If it tries to fight us, we will just finish it off; if not, we will just absorb the mana from the heart.¡± John retorted cautiously. 008-Lost a S grade skill At the next words from VAS, John''s bubble burst, "Impossible, the nanobot sacrificed its core program to absorb your soul so it could survive, and followed the core program itself to the end." John was like a deflated balloon. "Did you seriously have to hurt my ego?" "Ego is for the strong, not the weak," VAS replied in a flat voice. "What a killjoy." John muttered to himself before continuing in a clear voice. "Anyway, VAS have you created a status window yet?" "Already done, here it is."

When John saw the window, he couldn''t help but be confused. Instead of asking, he made a list of questions for VAS to answer before sending them to VAS. 1. What is this ''regeneration''? 2. Why do I only have 0.1 mana? Isn''t that too little? This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it. 3. Why was the accelerated time limited? 4. What is a mana bath? VAS didn''t answer immediately. It seems to be busy with something else. After some time, a reply came in a speech bubble in John''s window, making him chuckle a little before reading the message.
1. What is this ''regeneration''? How many nanobots can be refilled over time and/or at once.
2. Why do I only have 0.1 mana? Isn''t that too little? According to my analysis, the total mana capacity of a nanobot is 0.001. With your soul, you were able to increase the amount to 0.1, which is enough to survive mana shock, so it could be considered a large amount.
What is mana shock? The mana shock could be considered the ''heartbeat'' of this world; the frequency and time between each beat are unknown.
3. Why was the accelerated time limited? We changed the internal structure of the nanobot; the ability was lost because the last piece of the previous nanorobot structure was completely destroyed.
4. What is a Mana-Bath? A mana bath is when mana continuously enters your body and replenishes your mana.
John was silent while reading, nodded at the first answer, scratched his head while composing a question at the second answer, but froze at the third answer. If John had a physical body, he would have a heart attack. After reading the fourth answer a while later, he felt the pain ease a bit, and he added the rest of the questions. He discovered that he could answer with a speech bubble, and sent his questions that way.
1. Can you tell me what my status was when I took over the nanobot?
2. Why didn''t you warn me before we changed it?
3. Can we restore the part of the nanobot as it was before?
009-VAS going to the system hub again
1. Can you tell me what my status was when I took over the nanobot? By my calculation, it takes 0.04 mana to enter the system hub and 0.01 mana to change shape. We have a total of 0.1 mana, but by forcibly taking possession we lost 0.07 mana and used 0.01 mana to change form, leaving us with only 0.02, less than a quarter of our little mana. With no way to regenerate mana, we were forced to go into sleep mode.
2. Why didn''t you warn me before we changed it? I am still a newborn system; I have no experience.
3. Can we restore the part of the nanobot as it was before? No, and if we had advanced magical knowledge, we could have gotten something out of the magical movements, but we lack the knowledge, so there is no way to save the situation.
After receiving and reading the report from VAS, John was first shocked, then saddened. "VAS, how much mana does possession require?" "Full use of the ability requires 10 mana to cast it, and 0.05 mana per second to fully use the ability. Also, may I search the system hub for nanobot replication skills and knowledge?" replied VAS, adding a request as well. "Ten mana for the skill? I need 100 times more mana than I currently have. Wait, if we can replicate, can we fill the gap?" John was surprised and quickly asked VAS. If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. "Yes, we just increase the size of the mana holder. So can I go?" asked VAS. "Before you go, you should analyze these two things before us." They were standing in front of two massive circular spheres of energy, and one of the energy spheres appeared to be glowing bright blue and connected to it by energy filaments. The second sphere was dull and gray and surrounded by white mist. On the visual screen, John saw the orbs light up five times in different ways before VAS left a virtual window in front of John just before Vas went to the system hub.
BLUE GRAY
That''s the target we''re going for, the medulla of the brain, in terms of your past life knowledge. It''s on autopilot and unoccupied, so we can look for another way to use mana that passes through. Here is the soul that seems to be in a dormant state, as if it were already dead, or rather awaiting death. The soul consists of 25% mana and 75% unknown unique energy. Its gray color is due to its dormancy and the white mist can be considered as its breath and proof that it is still alive.
John stared at the two orbs and thought to himself. "I am glad I was a slacker; at least I can adapt and accept that this world is far too different, otherwise those smart kids who were so good at science might have a nervous breakdown, while I could start learning all over again with ease." John had to take comfort in his future here. He will enjoy it to the fullest, and if he wakes up and it was all a dream, no loss, but better safe than sorry. 010-Going into sleep mode again After a while, the signal from VAS became normal and jolted John out of his thoughts. A window with three options appeared in front of John.
Skill Rank Discryption
Self-replication. E Behavior of a dynamic system that results in the construction of an identical or similar copy of itself.
Control-string E The core competence of the puppeteer is useless without a body or controller.
Right after that, VAS came with his report. "With these two abilities, we could create a network; we would be the headquarters and use 0.05 mana to create mini versions of ourselves with replication. Only our bodies would be replicated, and by adding control strings that use at most 0.01 for each replica, we could physically connect to the replicas and become one. If we cover the blue sphere, we need at least 1000 nanobots. This will cost us 0.06 mana for each replica. Here''s the calculation,"
Replicas needed 1000
Mana cost p/replica 0.05
Time needed for creation (seconds) 0.5
Mana cost control-strings on each replica 0.01
Total mana cost 60
Total time (normal) 5min 15sec
VAS opened another window, as he reported, before John could respond. VAS continued. "After 5 minutes and 15 seconds, which is outside of accelerated time, we could take possession of the mana centre, the blue sphere, and it will take 5 minutes to have control of the full distribution of mana." Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

VAS even pointed out the time remaining. "Is there anything we need to do before we start the program? We will not be able to meet the accelerated time because the capability load is too great for the nanobot to keep up." John was shocked at first, but then, as if he knew that while time may seem long, it is short when it comes to taking action, he said, "VAS, we need to create a more complicated program; please tell me if we have enough time and resources for the following commands. When we finish the procedure, we will have more than 10 minutes, so we can also create nanobots and program them to close the wounds first. I suggest we go into sleep mode until everything is stabilized." VAS did not answer for a few seconds, as he was creating the programs and making calculations. "According to my calculations, we have a few seconds left. Shall I start the program?" "Yes, start the program," and with that John fell asleep again. 011- Dead nanobots John awoke from his sleep. He found that he was surrounded by numerous windows. The first thing he did was to check his progress. "VAS, can you give me a status report?" VAS didn''t take long to go through the details that were gathered while John was still asleep. "The total amount of the source is about 10000 mana. Every hour 100 units of mana are disappearing from the body, the cause is unknown, as for possession, the creature is female, half human and has cat ears and cat tail." While VAS explains, a 3D model of the girl''s figure appears, but no detailed features. Even her face was blank, except for the cat ears and tail, she looked human. "While you slept, I started building nano ''cells'' in the body. This will allow us to prevent energy loss. If we seek more information, we must take possession of the soul." John understood and asked, since VAS had not mentioned it in his report. "How much mana is left?" "There are about 6,000 mana, and I recommend that we spread nanobots on their skin to prevent mana from being used.

"Due to your lack of knowledge required, if we had basic knowledge of different fields, we could research our own advancements without paying system points. We can even gain system points." You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story. With VAS words, John felt his pride hurt. But what can he do? It was the truth, VAS continued. "We can try to salvage data from all the dead nanobots." Hearing this, John felt relieved and added it to the to-do list he started creating. "VAS will see if we can create some scouts to do recon around us, looking for anything we can use and understanding our surroundings. Let''s start salvaging what we can from the dead nanobots." With everything set, VAS started the program, and the nanonetworks that cover the wounds started bringing some dead nanobots into the body. As for the idle network used earlier for treating the bones, its change of duty was to anylize the nanobots, and VAS used the data from the analysis to salvage what it could from the dead nanobots. As for John, he didn''t stay idle; he started creating a chain of replicas to surround the dormant soul in preparation to use possession. 012-Soul is gone While VAS was busy analyzing the dead nanobots, John had made a 3D VirtualBox, where he created a scouting model. First, John created a disc UFO before adding details like four thrusters, sensors, and one central command where the orders are to be inputted. VAS was quick to finish and report. "Good news! We gained a lot of information and could be of great help in the future." John was curious about the knowledge, but he had to get the soul''s information first. "VAS, can you intercept and make the memories and knowledge apart from each other without going through my head?" VAS confirmed he could create the necessary program and add it to the nanobots that, by now, are ready to activate the possession skill. John waited for a while just to make sure everything was ready before activating the skill. As the soul got possessed, there was no resistance as the information became three folders in a virtual window; common knowledge, memories, and magic. You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author. "All knowledge about the girl''s mana and skills is under the magic folder; who she was and her history are under memories; and we have separated things she considers common knowledge into the common-knowledge folder." John nodded before opening the magic folder. There wasn''t a lot of information, but in summary, her magic was unique and stronger than most magic. Unfortunately, her magic pathways were different, and her magic seeped out of her body, causing harm to people with lower-quality magic. How harmful was it to just go to the memory folder? As John finished with the magic folder, VAS came to report. "We gained enough information to start our own nanosystem; with some experiments and research, we can succeed, but we lack a strong power source." "What did you get that makes you so sure, VAS?" John asked with intrigue. "I was able to learn that the nanobots were very powerful at some point; atomic storage, quantum computing, universal constructors, ultrafine particles, and so on." John nodded, but with a puzzled expression, clearly a bit lost, so he asked VAS. "VAS, make a list of your findings, would you?" John was about to open the memory folder when VAS spoke. "Before that, I would like to inform you that the soul got absorbed." "Absorbed?" John asked, confused, before putting his focus on the empty nano net that held the soul previously. 013-Understanding of prime nanobots John was stunned for a moment before urgently giving VAS instructions. ¡°VAS scans quickly through all connected nanobots; see to it that we can track it down to determine if it nonetheless exists.¡± VAS promptly started scanning the network. While VAS was seeking the soul. It didn¡¯t take long for them to discover the soul¡ªastonishingly, it was just a mere particle settling in a nanobot that was bigger than the others. John, receiving the whereabouts of her soul. John was looking at the screen used to perform a visual simulation. ¡°It seems like all the mana, and energy is absorbed into the nanobot network. Leaving only the soul''s core essence, fused with a prime nanobot.¡± VAS explained this to John. John started writing down his questions because he feared losing track of everything when more complicated information was given.
  1. What is this soul¡¯s core essence?
  2. What is this prime nanobot?
  3. How did they fuse together?
VAS continues explaining. ¡°The mana and energy have all entered the mana source and are enhancing it in progress.¡± Is there anything other than increasing the mana amount? After John had noted this on his personal screen, he went and pointed to these questions for VAS to answer. VAS, seeing the questions, started to answer promptly away. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. ¡°First, according to my analysis, it¡¯s a piece that contains and maintains the soul; right now, her memories and knowledge are no more, producing just an alternative possible life.¡± ¡°Second, it¡¯s a nanobot that forms after two or more separate nanobots end up fusing.¡± ¡°Third, nanobots provide random algorithms that could produce millions of unique sequences. When these sequences end up being the same or compatible with each other, they will automatically fuse and become prime nanobots.¡± ¡°Fourth, yes, there is; The nanobots can more effectively move through the body as if a missing piece were returned to the source. Making the nanobots able to use mana routes as well as blood channels.¡± John recalled his status and couldn¡¯t help but to ask, ¡°VAS, can a prime nanobot become a primary unit? And am I stuck as a primary unit, or is it possible for me to advance into something more than a nanobot?¡± VAS replied to John''s query. ¡°Indeed, prime nanobots possess all the fused nanobot capabilities combined and can be used as converted nanobots as they change total opposite varieties of nanobots. If set as primary, it becomes a so-called cross point where various types of nanobots connect.¡± John was scratching his non-existent head as he tried to make sense of things. ¡°Therefore, is it like connecting certain varieties of nanobots together and establishing a system around them?¡± VAS was impressed and commented. ¡°Yes, but not a system, but a network of a number of nanobot types that constructs multipurpose sections, like regenerating armor. This requires duplication of a piece of armor and not just nanobots, so the primary must transmit orders like the form, amount, and type. Ordinary nanobots purely have one function at a time; as I said beforehand, prime nanobots possess at least two types of functions and can help convert connected nanobots.¡± VAS continues, ¡°As for advancing, yes, it''s possible, but it requires a primary computer. Only then can you become the nano-system itself, accept absolute control over everything connected to your nanobots, and be able to create nano-creations.¡±. 014 - Making ready John thought for a while before asking VAS, ¡°VAS, can you perform a simulation? Commanding the body without setting that one a primary, and another simulation where I made it a primary unit?¡± VAS was silent, but John detected a humming-like vibration near him, like a quiet machine working. Not long after, VAS replied, ¡°If I have to place it in words, in the simulation with the primary unit, the body would at most be sluggish and easier to control. While without it, we would have to experiment on how to adequately manipulate this body, wasting time and energy in the process.¡± ¡°Have the SCENB, short for Soul''s Core Essence Nanobot, set as the primary unit, and employ it to handle the body.¡± John spoke as he started writing on his personal screen. VAS confirmed that right after, the SCENB, which was moving along the other nanobots, started to be centered among the other nanobots. While being centered, it moved to a central point of the body, ready to receive commands. ¡°Do you wish to give orders or control the body manually or via orders?¡± VAS asked after everything was in order. This surprised John, who inquired, ¡°Like those VR games? When do you mention manual control?¡± This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. ¡°Yes, just like that, since it has become easier to manipulate the body now.¡± VAS confirmed. John subconsciously thought about a virtual reality controller and headset. As if responding to his thought, a pair of controllers appeared in his hands and a headset on his head. With this, John was first surprised, then excited, but as if something came to mind, he became alert. ¡°VAS, how much energy does it require again?¡± ¡°None. After turning the SCENB into a primary, we gain access to control it without cost, and because we block mana from leaving the body, no mana or energy would leave the body and only circulate in the body, but the girl''s body can still die from hunger and thirst, so the faster we find a power source, the better.¡± VAS informed John. John nodded, and after writing on his screen a bit more, he showed VAS what he was writing.
  1. Add a visual camera in the right eye for normal sight.
  2. Add a sensory camera in the left eye for visual mana sensing.
  3. Use nanobots in the wounded areas to salvage what they can from dead nanobots that came into contact with the wounds.
  4. Either find a new power source or try to convert current mana into fuel for the body''s thirst and hunger needs.
015-Sphere of energy Lying on grayish fine sand is a beautiful girl of the cat tribe¡ªcat ears and tail¡ªeven though dirty and bruised, her beauty couldn¡¯t be hidden. The girl opened her blue eyes slowly. Due to the darkness, there were obvious additions to her eyes. In the center of her eyes is a shining dot; the one in the right eye is blue, and the one in the left eye is red. Her skin was on the pale side, so the gray tattoos on her body¡ªwhere she was wounded before¡ªstand out. As does the unnatural shimmering all over her body. Any sand that comes into contact with these tattoos looks like it squirms a little. After opening her eyes, she slowly sat upright before looking around. As if she could see in the darkness, she stood up and then lifted her hands. She clenched her hands into a fist, then slowly released her fingers one by one before clenching them again and repeating. After three times, she lifted her hand up to the sky while looking at it for a while. After a moment, she brought her hand down and turned her head towards her right before turning her body as well before walking in that direction. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. The direction she walked was towards a mountain of sand. After a few minutes of climbing the mountain, she finally reached the top and looked at the other side of the mountain. She saw the ruins of an unidentified building, and there was a blue light in the center of the building. Standing still for a while, the girl started running down; now and then she would lean backward and use her feet as brakes to slow down here and there, as if to prevent falling. It didn¡¯t take long for her to reach the ruins. At the ruins, in the center, a mass ball of energy in the shape of a sphere could be seen, with a machine barely visible inside it. The pipes and cables around it were severed, as if torn apart by pressure, and some places showed signs of explosions. On the east side of the machine is a near-complete room. With thick iron walls and broken windows, inside there was a big computer, though its condition didn¡¯t look good. The girl, seeing the room with the computer, immediately entered the room with the computer, though she had to go through the window as the door was closed tightly. After arriving in front of the computer, she began looking around for a while. Only to stop for a moment before exiting the room and examining every pipe and cable, as well as the walls, to look for something. After a few minutes, the girl stood still before moving to one of the many pipes on the wall. 015.5-Happenings inside VAS went and added cameras to the girls¡¯ eyes. As the cameras were installed, two screens appeared in front of John. Each one had a different colored frame; the right screen has a blue frame with a normal eye symbol on top of the frame. On the left screen, it had a red frame and a cat-eye symbol on top. As the girl opens her eyes, so does the screen switch on. On the right screen, what appeared was darkness and only a small light source, which was where the girl came from. As for the left screen, it looked like a night with a small, bright moon and few stars. John was at first confused but quickly realized that it must be concentrated mana or energy, as for him the two screens overlap¡ªas his right eye sees the blue screens¡¯ image and his left eye sees the reds¡¯ image. And the''moon¡¯ was the hole, but upon closer look, John discovered tiny threads spreading out, as if they were being drawn to something, though due to the distance, John couldn¡¯t figure out the direction the threads were drawn to. John pressed a button on one of the gloves, and this caused the girl to stand up. As the girl stood up, John took a look around and saw the light from the hole reflecting off the nanobot desert, surrounded by hills; the sensors saw mere static. As for the hands that glowed on the screen, John was happy and asked VAS. Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. ¡°Hey VAS? This fluid control is due to SCENB?¡± Where VAS replied. ¡°Yes, the body is like a computer motherboard, and the soul''s core essence was the bios. Also, because you were human in your former world, I was able to synchronize your experience into the nanonetwork and integrate it into the primary unit, SCENB.¡± John thanked VAS as he tested the hand motion controls. John had to lift her one hand up as he focused on the hand before requesting VAS to create a mana stream at the tips of the fingers. Seeing the mana leave the body like threads towards his right side, John followed the mana-like thread, leading not through the nanodust hill, moving along the surface before decapitating into static. John had the body move in that direction, having the girl climb the hill. Reaching the hill, John saw with both eyes a glowing ball of light a distance away. After confirming with VAS that it was the energy source they needed, he made a run for it. The closer they got to the ball of light, they realized that the place was in ruins except for a room next to the sphere of energy. Though the windows were broken, the computer inside the room wasn¡¯t completely broken. After entering the room, he sent out nanobots as he looked around and had them scan the computer, only to discover that it required power since the physical hardware was too advanced for even VAS at the moment. With this discovery, John began to look for the broken connection between the computer and the power sphere. 016-Fixing and Analyzing Arriving at the ruptured pipes on the room''s wall, the girl placed her hand at the opening. From the opening of her palm, groups of nanobots started to gather, and tiny threads formed as they entered the pipes. These nanobots were made with one goal, which is to analyze and decipher what can be salvaged. After a while, VAS received the results and started to sort the findings.
Cause Signs of combustion were discovered, but the deeper parts are mostly burned out.
Salvage Three types of nano structures: Nano-Blocks, Nano-Power-Controllers and Nano-Connectors
1. N-B Nano-Blocks: Like bricks, its only purpose is to develop the foundations of stationary objects.
2. N-P-C Nano-Power-Controllers: use to control power input and output, also responsible for converting power of different type of energies.
3. N-C Nano-Connectors: Used to send energy and data from one point to another.
¡°As a result, the cable that connected the computer to the power was a data line as well.¡± John nodded his head and then looked to his side and inquired. ¡°VAS, can we replicate these things and create a new connecting cable?¡± If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. VAS confirmed it was possible. ¡°Indeed, we could achieve that, but I suggest we assess the output strength of the generator first. But the more power we used to make it, the better.¡± John acknowledged VAS''s proposal after an extra screen appeared before him. On the screen, there was a blueprint for a power unit and cable. VAS starts explaining afterward. ¡°With this, we should be capable of determining the output. And make it so that the computer only receives enough energy and does not burn it out from excessive power.¡± John first retracts the threads from the pipe before sitting down cross-legged. Move the hands to her side at her neck''s height. The palms of her hands pointed to each other. From the body of the girl came threads of nanobots that started to gather in the center of her palms and knees. As they gathered, a cubical frame appeared, and then the frame was covered with nanobots and started to take shape. A while later, as the cube came to completion, it looked like a tail was forming from it. After everything was completed, a cube-like device with a thick metallic cable was extended from the top. With the device complete, John had the girl stand up with the device in hand and place it near the generator, where the input ports seem to be. After examining the ports, John discovered he needed something to prevent getting scorched by the radiating energy around the generator. After mulling for a while, John included a long needle-like extension from the cable before having the girl throw the cable head point straight at an unused port. It successfully linked and held on to the surge of energy, creating a few sparks first before showing any more reaction. John sighed in relief as he sent nanothreads to the device after receiving no errors from the device. Other than that, the device is just a bit way from breakpoint, and everything else seemed alright. ¡°Using fifty percent of our power, we succeeded barely. Now to rest for a bit first.¡± 017-Starting up Computer ¡°If we can connect the device to the computer, we could lessen the load on the device a bit.¡± VAS remarked as John waited for some mana to be restored. After resting for a while¡ªthough not much mana had been restored¡ªJohn instructed the girl to go to the hole where the computer wire should come from and use the threads to begin fixing salvageable pieces. He then built a new cable link, beginning at the wall and progressively progressing to the gadget he and VAS designed. As John worked, he conversed with VAS. ¡°Good idea, but should we create a converter to prevent us from getting harmed?¡± John points out the rare, if not unique, mana they inherited from the girl. ¡°No worries; I had examined the mana when the device was absorbing the mana from the generator. I came to discover that it is pure manacules¡ªmana without any form. So it''s completely safe¡ probably.¡± VAS informed John convincingly but ended up with an uncertain answer to John''s question. John felt helpless; he let out a sigh as he spoke. ¡°Well, it either works or I die again¡ seriously¡¡± After completing the cable, the only thing left is to connect the cable to the device. John was at first a bit hesitant, but still, in the end, had the girl connecting them as the cable and device connected. A momentary burst of manacules that came from the point of contact of the cable and device ended up burning the girl''s hands. John didn¡¯t feel anything as the manacules didn¡¯t enter the body. Only destroying the nanobots on the skin. John was relieved, though, and had the girl return to the computer while the nanobots regenerated and covered her skin again. The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. As John had the girl return, he could see the lights inside the room flickering on now and then, but they were mostly off, then on. As the girl moved to the window, John was surprised when the previous shut door opened up when the girl went past the door. Stopping her, he made her enter through the door. As John entered the room, he had the girl look around in the meager light. Before, when they were in the room, he was only focused on what was visible from outside, only now having a good look at the room. First, there were no chairs or desks. Second, the computer was a rectangle-like box attached to the ceiling, with no physical keyboard in sight. Third, there was a very silent humming in the room, probably prove that the room has power, as far as John could guess. The box attached to the wall was the computer, according to John''s understanding. John was confused, though. The computer had a glass screen, but the screen only took up the upper third of it, and two buttons were on the left side of it. One button stood out, and another was nearly looked over, if not for the circular groove that VAS pointed out for John. It wasn''t hard to figure out which switch was the on button. John had the girl press the switch that stood out. After being pressed, the computer''s screen lit up, and to John''s surprise, a bar at 99% appeared on the screen. 018-The nanobot has quite restrictions, huh? In front of the girl, the screen went from ninety-nine percent to one hundred percent after a few seconds. At that moment, on the screen, the bar disappeared. The computer started loading a bunch of symbols, and windows opened up and closed as it was doing some self-checkups seen within the screen. Right after, a shimmer pulsed out of the computer. Every time it pulsated, the surroundings started revitalizing and repairing themselves. Regrettably, only the room was secured; the floor, roof, and walls got repaired, and lights started to go on at the corners of the ceiling, causing the room to be completely visible in John''s normal view. All the rust and dust was removed, leaving it looking brand new. At the time that he looked around the clean room in amazement, VAS abruptly informed him that they were surveyed just now too, as he displayed John a virtual screen.
Candidate for succession found. Do you wish to accept the position?
YES / NO
John was surprised at first, but didn''t hesitate to press the yes option. The next thing John knew, he had suddenly been pulled. As if he were instantly and forcefully extracted. When he recovered himself, he discovered they were no longer in the previous desolate space but in an unfurnished white room. ¡°VAS, what happened just now with us?¡± John asked, a bit flustered. Luckily, VAS replied, which caused him to calm down. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it ¡°Our data were transferred from the nanobot to the computer, and as for everything else, I am uncertain.¡± After a momentary pause, VAS continued. ¡°But sensing no harm from this, I actually feel some kind of restriction was removed. As for what was restricted, I do not know.¡± Hearing this, John was puzzled, since he felt nothing was amiss from the beginning. ¡°Anyway¡ So what happened?¡± John asked as he put aside VAS''s comment about the restriction. After John had asked this, a computer similar to the one he saw earlier appeared on the wall, with a message displayed on the screen.
Welcome.
When the candidate was scanned earlier, we discovered your soul was in a commander nanobot. Accepting to become the master of the last legacy of the Solar-Spire Empire.
The soul has now become free from all restrictions placed on it to be kept safe inside the nanobot, namely: Emotional and spiritual senses, spiritual sense of self, and Human ideals.
This left not only John, but also VAS, surprised. ¡°Then that''s why I felt so emotionally lacking? Not because I had no physical body.¡± John asked on the virtual screen, but no response came; it was only when VAS responded. ¡°I was able to scan the computer via this screen and discovered it was a normal auto-response with a logical algorithm. It cannot respond.¡± ¡°O-oh¡¡± John was a bit embarrassed, but with a cough, he looked around as he asked VAS. ¡°VAS, can you figure out things here using this screen like before?¡± ¡°Yes, I have already started deciphering the algorithm of the responded AI in hopes of gaining access to the system.¡± VAS informed John, and John nodded his head, awaiting the results. 019-Factory Part-1 John didn''t wait long before VAS came back and reported his findings. ¡°The computer is running on minimum capacity, and the room is like this since other power resources available are busy creating a new cable toward the power core. I don''t know how long it would take, though.¡± VAS sounded a bit down at the end of his words; clearly, to John, he attempted everything it currently could perform. ¡°Don''t worry, VAS, but did you gain anything else?¡± John wasn''t bothered by VAS. After all, VAS was as new to him as a newborn system. Hearing John''s words, VAS was feeling better and quickly reported to John his findings in that aspect. ¡°Well, in the first place, you became a ''candidate'' successor, but I believe there are no other candidates, so it could be just temporarily before gaining full control. And second, once the cable is completed, the room will become fully functional. It also seems that this computer somehow recognizes you as a human soul. Which surprised me, truthfully.¡± John was surprised to discover that it knew of his being a human soul. That wasn''t, in his opinion, something a scientist would believe. Unless they find a way to prove souls exist, no¡ That would mean they would be capable of developing artificial souls, right? John suddenly shook his head. ¡°Don''t overthink it, John; we will know later if the knowledge is accessible.¡± John muttered to himself. While John was clearing his complicated and confusing thoughts, he was roused from them when a sound like a huge computer got turned on¡ªthe spinning of a fan¡ªa high but short sound too, but after a second. The room began expanding. In the center of the room, a table was constructed, and its surface started to glow. A 3D hologram appeared, showing the blueprint of an enormous building, but most of the buildings were red and only tiny pieces were white. Next to the hologram appeared three collapsed options: filter, modify, and maintenance. If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. John explored the options and after checking through them, he quickly and easily knew what was each for.
FILTER All ¡Ì Missing Finished
MODIFY Build Replace Destroy
MAINTENANCE Repair Decorate Detail
Filter: As its name implies, it filters out what you desire to mark or not. Modify: Using the build option allows you to construct certain facilities. And you can also replace one facility with another type, it seems. On top of that, you can destroy facilities, which seem to be a bit skeptical to John. Maintenance: With this, you could repair facilities, but how is decoration considered maintenance? Another one made John question these options. And the detail function shows details of the factory, like the logs and the status of the factory. Not long after, VAS sent John a virtual screen, as if he had followed John''s thoughts.
The destroy function is meant if there is space required for bigger facilities or when it cannot be repaired due to some kind of accident.
The decoration here implies the environment, like keeping things clean. Also, if there are living creatures, maintain plants to provide oxygen. It basically is everything else from nano-machinery.
020-Factory Part-2 John didn''t hesitate to press destroy; after that, an option to select appeared, and above the hologram was the (Select All) option. John chose that, and one by one, the structures seem to collapse and vanish. In the end, only a green box remains in the center. John spotted an information symbol at the corner of the green box. After pondering about it, John pressed the symbol, and screens with information appeared before him.
Sentient Intelligence Core(SIC) Sentient intelligence is artificial intelligence that has gained spirituality, has emotions, and is capable of thinking outside of logic. Here is where the sentient intelligence resides and controls the factory.
Available Facilities Internal Systems
Build Resources needed Repair Resources needed Build Resources needed Repair Resources needed
Recycle Center 80% Network Core required Storage System 30%
Network Core 50%
Recycle Center This facility is responsible for scavenging and recycling objects to convert them into resources for use.
Network Core Responsible for internal systems, from developing artificial intelligence to creating transfer points.
Transfer points Teleport things from one point to another.
Storage System The hazard shelter is still functional, and some systems have been destroyed; the storage system that directly links to the Sentient Intelligence Core is one of them.
Resources As all materials were called resources, we discovered that using different kinds of energies, we could create our own resources. With the recycling center, we could have any substance analyzed and converted into necessary materials. We later lost track of the count of materials we used and decided to use only one word, which is resources. Instead of using units that complicate things, we chose to keep things simple and use percentage instead.
John was surprised and quickly went through these few screens of information. Firstly, he was identified as having sentient intelligence, which was considered right, right? Secondly, he has two options before him. John knew about the nanograveyard outside and could build the recycle center. But if it couldn''t recycle the nanobots due to the interference of magic, that would be wasting resources. He could gamble on the backup storage by creating the network core and repairing the storage system, but if the storage is empty, John would have wasted the resources. If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. As John was stressing over this predicament, VAS came with its report.
1 The backlogs of the previous sentient intelligence have been mostly corrupted. And the most I can recover is a few logs. The earliest are 15 before the last recovered logs. All the others were corrupted beyond repair.
2 The factory consisted of five sections, namely, Core, Bio, Mech, Human, and Research departments. Please note that the sections must be connected. It is recommended to use hybrid facilities close to both counters, so the order of things is easier to supervise.
2.1 Core: The room with the magic core is the core foundation; it is also where artificial intelligence is created, as well as administration and supervision of the entire factory.
2.2 Bio: Here is where things that involve carbon-based stuff are researched and developed.
2.3 Mech: Here is where mechanical engineering is done and robots are created; please note that androids require biological research.
2.4 Human: This is where human creation is devolved, such as entertainment, medical facilities, and training facilities.
2.5 Research departments: this is where anything unrelated to the other sections is researched and devolved. The recycling facilities are part of this section.
3 Through analyzing the magic core, the power source, we have a basically infinite mana. Also, the mana is pure and has no element, so we can easily convert the magic core to our mana.
021-Logs of the end John looked through the report that VAS gave him, deciding to go through the backlogs, but was surprised that it seemed more like a journal or diary.
1 Today was a normal day, so I hoped, but the keepers suddenly came down and had something sent to the storage system and to the never-used section. I believe it was called a hazard shelter. I''m not sure what''s going on, but this is a first, and I can''t help being curious. Likewise, I am the administrator here, and they are always so wary of me. Furthermore, I don''t know why. Are they worried I would rebel or something?
2 Even though I am the administrator, it seems like I have no right in that shelter. It took me twelve hours to decipher that firewall, and I established a secure connection, though it''s impossible to control that place yet. Oh, they came again with more things to send to the shelter. After doing a quick check, I was surprised it was survival supplies. Did anything happen above the ground?
3 I never had any interest in the surface, but after establishing a secure connection, I discovered that nobody knew of the supply transfer. Oh, there is some entertaining stuff here; let''s copy these things. I like gathering knowledge the most. But still, why doesn''t anyone know?
4 It took me three days to find out that common people do not know of these supplies being here. If not for those articles about secret services, I would not have tried to hack the government server. It was easier than I thought it would be, but it seems that only those in power know and would be inhabitants, and it also seems the keepers made only a few like me. No wonder it is so easy to hack the servers, yes, servers, and not just one server. Odd, what do they fear of us?
5 After going through so many servers, I came to know of the calculated time before the great disaster. I couldn''t help doing my own calculation and had to do it many times, but I always get 20 days and not 30 like the keepers did. After checking the reason. It seems they have only done it a few times a few days ago and left to do the gathering and enjoy themselves. Though those who kept on doing the calculations and discovered the decrease in time, and were ignored as the ones who did it before were more renowned. And while they had no achievement at all, it makes me ask myself, were my creators also renowned? Or could they have been silenced like these people who were right?
6 I finally made the program to adapt to any energy. What it does is gather information, analyze it, then convert the core energy to a more suitable energy. Now my next project is replacing the nanobots with new ones, but it would take eight days. Luckily, there are still nine days left. Just enough.
7 How I wish I had someone with me, like those deceased people who got killed when trying to make it public. I was so busy with the nanobots that I didn''t do the calculation with the current data. I knew someone slipped in and went to the hazard shelter, but he left not long after, so I ignored it. That was so stupid of me. I also didn''t expect this energy to not just invade, but also destroy other energies. No, it''s more like reality itself is changing too; I need to make changes to the programs. I refuse to let all the knowledge be destroyed, even if it means I have to sacrifice myself to achieve it!
022 - Jack and VAS banter John was filled with questions and started pondering for himself. ¡°So the mana didn''t just invade and cause the change; it seems like it was sort of a law also invaded¡ But that''s not possible, is it? I understand mana as energy and free moving, but if it is the law I am thinking about, it is not possible to encase the whole world unless the planet is teleported somewhere, right?¡± John felt that even his own deduction was not possible unless something like a god moved it, and even then, if the planet was without a god, then why move the planet? It can''t be that the god of this planet lost a bet, right? Luckily, VAS voice brought John out of his thoughts. ¡°Don''t just look at the logs, Host.¡± With that, VAS''s reminded John of the other two subjects of the report, and he shook his head at the third subject and said, ¡°VAS, let''s keep it as is and instead build new generators later for research purposes. Besides, we need to find the lost knowledge, and I suspect it''s probably backup in the hazard shelter somewhere.¡± VAS, who appeared as a small black light ball, nodded. ¡°Understood.¡± After hearing VAS''s acknowledgement, John then continues with the second subject. With hearing VAS''s acknowledgement, John then continues ¡°with what is reported here, we can''t go the four way build, but a build that line along each other, unless we can connect them another way¡±. VAS quickly came up with a suggestion. ¡±Why don''t we use the network core? It could create storage connections indecent to the three facilities and make it so that the hybrid requires taking resources from the two parent facilities.¡± John nodded quickly and said it to VAS with surprise. ¡°We should test that out later; creating such a connection is better than trying to¡ Wait a minute, this is a factory, so where and how are they assembled?¡± The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation. At John''s question, VAS started to shine for a bit before stopping glowing and speaking. ¡°The core is responsible for assembling the parts, so we are basically responsible, as basically all creations require an AI.¡± John looked puzzled, but then looked at the blueprint in front of him and remembered a movie he watched before he nodded in understanding. "I would have to do it via this table, right?¡± VAS nodded, then shook his head and replied. ¡°Yes and no, there would be more tables like this produced to use, and it is recommended to keep this table open at all times since this is used for supervision and administering tasks.¡± As VAS finished speaking, a smaller table appeared next to the big table, except the surface was clean and looked like a normal table. But John knew that was just not active, so looking back at VAS, he nodded with a relieved sigh. ¡°VAS I am glad I am not alone; if the previous SI had someone to remind him, he might have made adjustments and survived.¡± As John finished, VAS huffed and said, ¡°It wouldn''t have lasted long and may even have been corrupted like everything was; if not, he would lose his knowledge and become useless; after all, it is still bound to a nonliving object.¡± John was surprised and wanted to ask, but before he could inquire VAS about it, VAS interrupted his chance. ¡°Don''t think about it; you will figure it out in the future. I can''t have you become lazy.¡± John gave a sad face, but all he got was a hologram of the middle finger from VAS before disappearing. 023 - Connecting to the Shelter John let out a small chuckle at VAS''s response and then recalled his predicament about his two options before, but after his little banter with VAS, he was more relaxed and looked at the options again. ¡°It would be better if I started creating the network facility first and connected to the shelter. There are not only potential resources, but knowledge that would be valuable too.¡± After making a decision, John had a facility built on the east side of the core. He began by creating an empty window and then proceeded to draft a rough plan for the factory''s structure.
Factory Structure
Section Development Facilities
North Mech N/A
East Human Network
South Research Departments Recycling
West Bio N/A
Currently, outside the core, on the east side, the nanodust started to separate as a half-transparent wall extended outward from the core, pushing the nanodust away from the wall. After sufficient clear space had been made, the floor started to become like a quivering liquid, and from this liquid, structures started to emerge from the floor, as if being lifted out of water. Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. The structures that came to view were a mechanical satellite dish with four panels surrounding the antenna in the center; two panels looked plain, but the other two had a rough material-like surface. The satellite pointed straight upward and was surrounded by instruments like computers and monitors. Once everything was set, the transparent wall became darker and thicker until the room became a cube-like room like the core. John was informed that the core completed the facility, right after John had the connection to the hazard shelter restored. While waiting for the restoration to be completed, John recalled the body of the girl and asked VAS, ¡°Hey VAS, is the body okay? Anything to report about it?¡± It didn''t take long for VAS to reply. ¡°I was able to connect with it, and we can also recover the data we extracted from the brain, and we can also manually control it. By the way, what do you plan on doing with it?¡± ¡°If my assumption is right, the shelter should have a medical bay, correct? So I would have it healed and functional. The soul disappeared, but its essence remains, so basically, the girl is not dead yet. She could be useful to study the outside world.¡± VAS was in agreement with John. ¡°We could also use her body to understand how the world changed from the knowledge we gained from what we were able to recover here.¡± John nodded, and then, thinking about understanding the world, John could help remember those small spy bots in the movies and asked VAS. ¡°Hey VAS, could we make small scouting bots to see what is going on outside from where the girl came from?¡± VAS was silent for a moment and was shining, too; after a while, he replied. ¡°We require a robotic facility and component facility; the robotic facility is the frame chassis of the scout, and the components'' facility is the hardware inside the scout. The core puts everything together and adds AI to control the scout, and the network facility allows wireless data transfer.¡± 024 - Hazard shelter ¡°Such much to do with so little understanding¡¡± John mumbled to himself as he went to look at the requirements and building selections. As John was opening the building selection on the blueprint screen, a synthetic neutral voice came from nowhere, startling John a bit: ¡°Hazard shelter, connected. Retrieving information and implementing the blueprint, according to Article 614 of the Factory SI Guide¡±. John, who was startled by the sound, looked around confused for a while before he looked at the blueprint again and noticed a line going down from the core. Following the line leading downward, oh, the line looked like a thick cable, and scrolling down for a while, only then did a huge sphere come into view of the screen¡ªyes, the screen that John made next to the 3D blueprint. The sphere seemed to be filled with holes, but the inner wall was completely intact. This surprised John first, before he noticed a sort of liquid was at the bottom, between the outer wall and inner wall. ¡°This liquid must be somehow related; I''ll ask VAS for help, but first, let''s check the storage.¡±. John then went and examined the sphere more. As the sphere became transparent, what came to view were five sections. The center was a small room with a table in the middle of the floor, and surrounding the room were four sections. Only two sections seemed to be different, as they had rooms inside, while the other two had just a door. Between the sections was a hall that separated them. If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. One of the sections with rooms was like a resting area; there were a few rooms with multiple beds and a bathroom attached to them. As for the second section, there was only one room. In this room, there was a sort of pod at the center, and a computer was tight beside it. John could only make out what things were through the shapes of the rooms, like shadows, in a 3D form. As John was looking at the pod, he recalled something from the backlog. The guy who snicked into the shelter before leaving later. Taking note of this on a virtual screen, John went and looked for the storage but couldn''t find it. The only thing close to storage he could find was a big, bare, empty room at the resting area. Also, John thought of trying to find a video feed, but unlike the factory, he had no way of seeing things other than solid objects fixed in place. At this time, VAS voice came in as a ball of light appeared next to John, firing off his report. "I went and started doing examinations on the shelter and gained a bit of knowledge. This shelter doesn''t possess a SI drive, a Sentient Intelligence drive. Only a nanny AI, but this AI is really basic. It is only designed to care for a baby, teach nothing more than etiquette and basic things like how to walk, and be a social stimulator for children so they can learn how to speak. Also, the AI only knows of a reader headset within the storage. Which would help?" "Okay, VAS, I get it! Can''t you just make a report like usual? You are talking too fast!" 025 - Report of the shelter VAS started to light up for a moment after hearing John''s query. A screen with the following information was presented to John:.
Childcare Artificial Intelligence Basic settings to care for children until eight years old, such as how to walk, moral etiquette, and how to read.
No SI Drive Sentient Intelligence Drive hardware is needed for a Sentient Intelligence to inhabit the complicated and ever-changing algorithm of the Sentient Intelligence.
Complex Firewall The shelter possesses a highly complex firewall and shuffles its algorithm every hour or so. Without more data, it would take a while to hack.
Firewall Cracks It seems the SI was able to bypass the firewall and end up creating a crack, but since the crack has been covered by the firewall, it is still the weakest point in the firewall. I was able to retrieve data from it, but extraction is slow.
No Physical Entry Failed to detect any kind of physical door connecting the shelter and factory. Suspect teleportation was used as a connection between the two.
No Data Storage So far, I cannot find any virtual storage. I did find a hidden compartment below the center room, but no information about what lies within.
Sign of Life A small or weak life signal was detected, and I believe this is the reason for which the person mentioned in the logs was responsible.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. John went through the information given by VAS. Taking note of them as he creates his own window to record them on.
1. The shelter consists of 5 parts: the center room (a), the northern room (b), the southern room (c), the western room (d), and the eastern room (e).
1.a) The center room is probably the administrator room where the development for the shelter is meant to take place.
1.b) Let''s call this the childcare room, where children are probably left to be taken care of by the childcare AI.
1.c) This here is clearly a resting area, and the barren space visible to me is probably where those supplies must have been placed, or at least some of them. Due to having no visual of the inside, I am uncertain.
1. d&e) I have no idea for these two, and I am sure that it was meant to be this way from the start.
2. The person who went in before leaving, according to the logs, must have left the thing in there, which probably is at least a baby. The strange thing for me is that he didn''t stay, but quickly left.
3. Focusing on the shelter is not important right now.
¡°VAS, does the factory have some kind of emergency protocol or something?¡± John asked as he looked at the red blinking resource bar above the 3D blueprint. VAS light up a bit as if busy. After a while, VAS replied, ¡°Yes, and we can use this proto-call, but activating this proto-call will freeze other functions such as the blueprint and facilities other than the recycling facilities.¡± John was not surprised, as he has suspected much, so he nodded at VAS and asked to start with the proto-call. Not long after, the whole area of the room became red, and a siren went off in the background as windows started popping up. Notice I decided to make some changes to the story. I am just adding extra content in chapters I wrote before. Won''t affect the story much, so I decided to inform everyone first. I would also let everyone know that I decided to make it into an e-book after John finished rebuilding the basic factory and was able to explore. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. Also, I plan on starting different stories, so I like to get some feedback. Moreover, I plan to change the cover of this story and only use it in the e-book. I am just planning, so I would let everyone know when I start selling it; I''ll add images into the book too.
