《Battle Junkie - A Pokemon Story》 New Life in the Pokemon World - Part 1 My name is Himura, I am 10 years old and today I will finally be a pokemon trainer. At least I hope so. Life has not been easy the last few years. A lot of people would be happy in my situation, I was, but life has a way of fucking with you that you just can¡¯t do anything about it. About 8 years ago I reincarnated into this body. I think I was from a world where pokemon was just another piece of media. I don¡¯t remember how I died or much of my life for the matter, at least in the way of details. Almost everything not related to pokemon is really foggy to me. Like, I can remember that there was a show about people in colored costumes, giant robots and monsters, what happened and when but I can¡¯t really remember all the details, much less record it somewhere. Doing so makes it even harder to remember details. I am pretty sure I was single and didn¡¯t have kids but I don¡¯t remember my actual age before dying. I was a kid or a teenager but I don¡¯t think I was older than 30. I remember I had a very good friend and out of everything, even if I don¡¯t really remember how he looked or what we actually did together, I really miss him, especially for the last 2 years. As for what I actually remember, anything related to pokemon, like names, moves, abilities, where I could find them. I don¡¯t know everything, I am pretty sure I wasn¡¯t what someone would call a hardcore fan, just someone that liked it more than others. I also remembered somewhat about all the stories related to it. Things from manga, comics, anime and the games itself. It is kind of funny that I remember everything about these things but I can¡¯t 100% confirm that pokemon was just a piece of media in my old world when I think about it in my mind. When I found myself in this new body I learned two shocking things. First, pokemon are not as strange as you would imagine them would be in real life, or creepy for that matter, and that pokemon were way more dangerous than most people would like to admit. I don¡¯t exactly know how, I just suddenly knew it when I got conscious of myself, but a ghost pokemon accidentally got into the house, got spooked by the kid I was now and kind of killed it with a move before running away. Someone, probably Arceus, it had to be him, put my soul or the equivalent in his place and that is how my life here started. I wanted to say to the kid¡¯s parents what happened but I can¡¯t say anything about it to anyone, even now. I just become unable to talk, write or even think about it if someone is reading my mind so I just went with the flow. It didn¡¯t take much time for me to know exactly where I was. Rustboro or Kanazumi City depending on where you were from in my old world. I remember that some things changed based on language when it came to pokemon media and for some strange reason I can remember stuff in both languages. None of those two languages is the actual language of this world, I don¡¯t even remember what those languages were but everytime someone is talking to me I can select with one I will be hearing. I tried to actually learn this world language, as it seems that everyone, everywhere, speaks it but once again something just stops me from doing so. It is also somewhat strange that people''s names change when I make the shift from one language to the other. As for my new family? My father was some kind of teacher that worked for the Devon Corporation and my Mother was some sort of trainer/stylist/contest helper. My father was a person that would fully teach about some of the things the corporation was doing or making that related to pokemon and humans working together along with nature to prosper. Things like using certain pokemon along with machines to reinforce ground in places where it rained too much or putting some life in places where food was scarce. He also worked as a normal teacher in various places around the city when he didn¡¯t have to do his primary job. The corporation saw it as good PR so they even started to pay him to just go out there from time to time and teach kids. My mother was the woman you would go to if you needed help in a pokemon contest or just wanted your pokemon to have a beauty treatment of some sort. She did contests in various regions in her youth but what she really liked was just to make pokemon pretty. Can¡¯t say she was famous or anything. She was good, people paid good money for her help, but she didn¡¯t have a saloon or anything, she kinda just did what she could where she was called. I saw a lot of pokemon because of her taking me everywhere. As for pokemon themselves. My father had three pokemon and my mother two. First was my father¡¯s partner, a Magnezone that liked to teach just as much as my father did. He loved being around young kids and pokemon. He wasn¡¯t particularly powerful but he also wasn¡¯t weak. All I know about him is that my father got him when he went to Mauville City when he was a kid and they kind of stuck together ever since. His second pokemon was a Torkoal. It was one of my grandpa¡¯s and he received it when he died. The old turtle was not a battler but could maintain the house warm to perfection when it was cold. His last pokemon was an Armaldo. It was a company pokemon given to him for protection as he had to leave the city from time to time. Big guy was always serious and always alert, even if he was used about 3 times as far as I Know. My mother had a Swellow and a Delcatty. She technically had other pokemons but they were all given to the region¡¯s professor either for study or so they could find a new trainer. She didn¡¯t abandon any of them mind you, this was a mutual thing. They wanted to fight and/or participate in contests and my mother wanted to settle down, having a kid and all. Swellow was a mail bird, no other way to describe him. Mother loved to write and receive letters from old friends or people she worked with and Swellow loved to go around the world taking those letters. If he knew how to talk, I would have heard every word of his adventures. As for Delcatty, she was a lady, a noble lady at that. Yes, she was a pampered cat, but her attitude alone would make you respect her, add her manners and even pokemon way stronger than her showed some respect to her. I never saw a single rodent around my house. Until I was around 5 years old my life consisted of staying in the house, going out of the house with my mother as she did what she had to do, be it work work or housework, or the occasional play session with other families and their pokemon. Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on the original website. I wasn¡¯t some kind of genius or anything. Even learning how to talk at a young age, as well as reading and writing wasn¡¯t really seen as much of an achievement so I didn¡¯t make any waves in that aspect. But you can¡¯t use the internet without being at least that young so it took a while for me to understand exactly how the world worked. First thing I discovered was that I was in some kind of chimera timeline, at least as far as my knowledge about pokemon media in my old world was aware. It was like a fusion of the mangas with the games with parts of what would have been from the anime. Ash or Satoshi didn¡¯t exist in this world. Red was the Pallet/Masara Town super trainer. Strangely enough his name was listed as Satoshi Red when I looked for it but he wasn¡¯t Ash. Red¡¯s journey, at least in this world, started 10 years after the last Kanto and Johto War and 15 years before I was born. This war was a big deal in this world as it was the war that pretty much made the entire world come to their senses and start to play nice. That also explained the reason why so many kids could just roam free around the world. War tended to take a lot more lives in this world than you would imagine. Everything that happened in the games and the manga, happened in a spawn of ten years after Red started his adventure. The last thing in world history that was somewhat relevant was about Paldea, with Paradox pokemon suddenly popping there. These ten years of chaos around the world were seen almost as divine punishment for the war between Kanto and Johto by a good amount of people now that they could see it from far away. I looked at some things about it and pretty much every region had some stake in that war. The 5 years before I was born were some of the most peaceful in recent history. Not a single evil team trying to use a legendary pokemon to conquer the world. Some legendaries even started to show up more because of it. Ho-oh could be seen annually all around Johto, Rayquaza showed itself around Hoenn a lot more. You get the point. All that meant that I could go on a journey without having to double check for evil teams trying to destroy the world every five minutes. Not that it mattered much. The world was way more dangerous than I could imagine. It came as a shock to me that most people didn¡¯t really want to be professional pokemon trainers. It was common for kids to go alone around the region they are born into, maybe a city or two away, to challenge a gym or two, but that was about that. Battling for money was normal but to do that as your main job you had to be good or a little crazy. Normal people would maybe be able to earn 3 badges from any given region in their lives if they tried. Anyone who can complete the gym circuit was really respected for their power even if they didn¡¯t win the conference, the tournament that crowds the year¡¯s champion of the region and allows him to challenge the elite four of said region to an official match. As for why I thought that it was a good idea for me to become a trainer when I could easily be a researcher or some other high paying job? It was because I had a special ability and I was really good at pokemon battles. I could and still can tell how strong a pokemon is and not in only a single manner. I can tell how strong a pokemon is in any of its stats in relation to the pinnacle of power a pokemon can reach or how high his actual stats are at the moment. I can¡¯t quantify their levels though. Pokemon still have IVs even in real life. The difference is that a pokemon could train and increase them naturally. As for EVs, as far as I can tell, they don¡¯t exist in the same way as in the games and that is related heavily with pokemon stats, natures and predispositions. Let¡¯s take a common Zigzagoon for exemple. They are frail pokemon, a little fast with some defenses but pitiful attack and special attack. A Zigzagoon, at least in games, would never be stronger than a Linoone, but here, in what was now real life? If he trained enough, he could be as strong as a legendary pokemon. If I had to put numbers on it, every single pokemon could reach a maximum of 300 in any of its base stats. The EVs were for that. They increased your base stats and worked like some sort of experience. A pokemon would gain them from battle and training but not based on who he was fighting but what he was doing. They could also lose the power they gained if they didn¡¯t try to at least maintain it with training. I saw plenty of pokemon that were actually weaker than a normal variant of it would be because they didn¡¯t train. Another thing I was very shocked about was the lifespan of living things. Stronger pokemon would live longer and trainers with lots of stronger pokemon would live just as long. I also found something strange. The war that created the mega stones in this world happened differently. AZ¡¯s weapon was actually a super healing ray that made him immortal along with his revived partner and bathed the world in a strange energy that made mega stones pop all around the world. The war didn¡¯t end because he fired on both sides but because he simply stopped them with his partner. He was a recluse until the crisis in Kalos happened but looks like plenty of people knew about him and just left him alone. AZ is actually the one that gave that knowledge to the world. Continuing on why I wanted to be a trainer. When you reach the good age of five, the adults let you use pokemon a little and the little shits we all were, the first thing we usually did was try to battle. The problem was that I actually knew how to battle. It was completely different from the games, more like the earlier season of the anime. Pokemon weren¡¯t constricted by only having 4 moves or a single ability for the matter. Some did but plenty of pokemon had two or more. Most kids just called moves but I could direct any pokemon given to me to use the terrain, their bodies or whatever I could see was useful. I also knew most of what any pokemon could do so I could easily counter them. It wasn''t like I never lost, I didn¡¯t have a choice in any of the pokemon the adults let me use. More than once a parent would give a super strong pokemon for their kid only for me to have to use my dad¡¯s Torkoal. Until I was around 8 I went to the pokemon school. The same one Roxanne went when she was younger. There I learned a lot about pokemon as well as survival. Pokemon, for the most part, would leave you alone if you left them alone, but plenty of pokemon could and would hurt anyone mortally. This was hammered into kids'' heads more than anything. I made sure to engrave that warning in my heart. Sadly, I didn¡¯t manage to make many friends there. For some reason, me being good at battling scared the other kids, even the ones that wanted to be trainers like me. Barely a week after I was 8 years old, my dad said we were moving to Pallet Town of all places. Oak had retired a few years back. The new professor, a guy I didn¡¯t recognize from anywhere, wanted to open a school/university in the town. My dad was chosen as one of the people that would work there. It was mostly for PR, he wasn¡¯t the best for the job academically, but he was the type of guy you couldn¡¯t help but become friends with. I was kind of sad that I had to leave my home behind. I wasn¡¯t friends with anyone in the school but I had friends outside of it. Plenty of pokemon I made friends with too but that was life. We packed everything and sent it before us and went to take the boat. It was kind of like a vocation, but that was when everything went to shit. New Life in the Pokemon World - Part 2 For 3 days or so, I had the best days of my life. We were on a cruise ship, not a transport one. We had to go slower but there was a lot to do on the ship. Eating, playing and of course, battling. They had a rental system and arenas. I almost forgot to eat more than once trying to keep my winning streak. I don¡¯t even remember the pokemon I used as I traded them very often to keep things fresh. After those days, we were more or less at the midpoint of our journey to Kanto. Suddenly a really heavy storm appeared. It was normal, Rain Dance was a thing so maybe some pokemon the captain didn¡¯t were fighting in the area. We were told to go inside the ship until it either passed or they resolved the situation but before anything could be done a very loud explosion happened in the middle of the ship. I have a really hazy memory about that but I would say it was like a missile being shot at the ship. Not that I know what happened to me at the time. The ship broke in two parts and began to sink very fast. Before anyone could do anything a giant whirlpool appeared and began to suck everyone in. Plenty of people tried to use pokemon to save themselves but they along with the pokemon were all killed by something. As I was being dragged into the water, trying to help or be helped by my family, I began to really panic, to feel a primordial fear of something and then all I remember is black. Next time I woke up I was in a hospital in Viridian City surrounded by doctors. Somehow I was rescued and brought there but for a time I really wished I just died. I was the only survivor and my body showed it. I had various marks of pokemon attacks on me and had to stay in bed for over a month before I could even think straight. Nobody knew what happened, me included. The first thing the government had me do after I was good enough to leave the hospital was to identify the bodies I could. A lot of people weren¡¯t recognizable and anything I said might help them be identified. One would think that we could have pokemon help with that, pokeballs tend to survive the stupidest things, but not even the pokemon survived. When I identified the remains of my parents I really wanted to cry but I kept myself together. I knew this world was dangerous and that something like this could happen. I was alive, I could still live a fulfilling life that would at least make my parents proud. Once I finished with that I was told that the people of Pallet Town would take care of me. I had no family that could take me in anywhere, either dead or not economically fit, so I would go live in the house my parents brought there. People were nice enough to help me unpack, I was still a 8 year old kid and even if I was stronger than what I expected, I couldn¡¯t do everything I had to. It was around that time I noticed something strange. It has been more than a month since everything happened and I didn¡¯t see a single pokemon near me. I saw at a distance but not once a pokemon got near me. The next morning I went out and tried to find what was going on. The city looked like what you would see in the anime, very rural, just with a few more houses now. I went to the lab since this might be a pokemon problem. I also wanted to see Professor Oak. I learned that it was him that asked that I be moved here so I wouldn¡¯t be put in an orphanage. The lab was open so I walked right in. There were various people going around, helping or doing something else with pokemon but the moment any of them saw me they just froze in fear. I tried to ask what was going on. Nobody knew. I accidentally touched a pokemon and he just fainted. After that pokemon just ran away from me, no matter what. Red¡¯s pokemon that he battled legendary pokemon? They ran. Almost wild rattata kept there? They too fled. I don¡¯t know exactly why, but knowing that I could get close to pokemon, the one saving grace from all the bad things that happened to me, broke me. I don¡¯t even remember how I got back home. I just went into my room and began to cry and cry. I really wished that I just died so I at least could have been with my family. I never felt so alone. It was already night when I heard someone busting my door. I didn¡¯t really care at the time. Oak Himself along with someone I now know was Daisy, Green¡¯s older sister(Blue if you read the adventures manga official localization. I am going to use the Jap names as it was the version I read) along with a farmer that lived near me. They somewhat knew what happened, asked for my side of the story and Daisy almost started a storm when she heard nobody checked on me the entire day. Few people knew about me in the town but someone should have come to check on me. At least it was what she said. She cooked me food and Oak guaranteed that if something was wrong, he would help me deal with it. He was one of the people that asked me to be allowed to live here in the first place. He didn¡¯t like the idea of orphanages very much, even if they aren¡¯t exactly bad. The author''s tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. After I was given food I managed to actually sleep once I heard again that Oak himself would help me. I wasn¡¯t afraid to admit that the science in the pokemon world eluded me. It might as well be magic. But if Oak, the professor pokemon himself, was going to help me, I could have some hope. The next two months were frustrating and depressing. I couldn¡¯t go out to play with other kids because everyone had a pokemon in some way or form. I couldn¡¯t buy food because the places that sold food always used pokemon too. School was also out of the question. Being with pokemon at all times was part of the identity of the place so I couldn¡¯t be there without disrupting classes. I had to study from home. The worst part was Oak trying to figure out what was happening. After he explained to everyone what was happening, he tried everything to make a pokemon comfortable with me. So many things that I can¡¯t even list them, but he tried everything that was possible and I know it. Near the end of those two months things took a turn for the worse. Any pokemon that was forced, even a little, to interact with me, began to attack their own trainer in frustration or fear, I still don¡¯t know. For a little while he managed to bring some more people to try to figure out what was happening but nobody in the two wanted to risk it, could risk it. Then the bullying started. If anything wrong happened between a trainer and its pokemon, especially the kids, it was my fault and they began to ¡®punish¡¯ me. Kids threw stones at my house and some of the adults let it happen. Oak was old and Daisy had a life so they couldn¡¯t take care of me every day, all day. The town as a whole was supposed to support me but I couldn¡¯t do anything. Even the cops didn¡¯t want anything with me because if their pokemon started to rage around there would be a lot more problems than letting things happen to me. One day Oak was at my door with a trainer from out of town when I heard some of the people in two confront the two. They said that if he tried anything his pokemon would turn against him. They said a lot of bad things about me but I let it slide. The trainer got angry with Oak and left because he wasn¡¯t told about any of it. The town¡¯s people also became somewhat angry with Oak for nor telling what could happen. They simply said I should just be left to die, that I somehow deserved it. Oak became mute with shock. At that moment I hit the lowest point in my life. Professor Oak was never someone I thought I would like but what he tried to do for me the last few months made me like and respect the man very much and he was throwing everything he earned in his life to help me. If I was just a kid I probably wouldn¡¯t feel that way but I couldn¡¯t allow someone like him to be dragged down by me. I ran as fast as I could. I didn¡¯t care where as long as there wasn''t anybody nearby. I heard Oak calling me back but the only thing I could say was ¡®sorry¡¯ as I can out of the town. I went into the forest, then climbed a cliff and continued up until I was high enough to see the town. I still remember what I shouted from up there. ¡°Pokemon and people of Pallet! All I wanted was to make friends with you! Professor Oak is a great man and he doesn¡¯t deserve to be dragged down by a cursed kid like me! I¡¯m sorry I exist, goodbye!¡± I then jumped out of the cliff. Nothing worked so far I was pretty sure nothing would. Machines couldn¡¯t detect anything wrong with me. People couldn¡¯t identify anything wrong with me and pokemon, the only creatures that knew what was wrong with me, couldn¡¯t do anything about it. I thought that I didn¡¯t have anything to live for so I might as well just die. At least Oak wouldn¡¯t have to deal with me. Everyone in my old world used to say that just before you die while trying to commit suicide you regret what you are doing but I truly didn¡¯t want to live. I was at peace. That is why when someone suddenly grabbed me and shielded me from the fall I was more than a little angry. I shouted how I didn¡¯t deserve to live, how Oak¡¯s reputation was going down to the dirt because he was trying to help me. The man that saved me just punched me after I shouted all that. I was so angry that I began to fight him. He didn¡¯t hold back, he overpowered me completely. When he pinned me to the ground I just began to cry because I couldn¡¯t even die. I thought I was a failure. Then he said something to me that took me out of my own mind for a moment. ¡°If anyone does anything wrong to my gramps I will destroy them!¡± This man was Green Oak. The Green Oak. The second strongest, sometimes strongest, trainer in the world. He was holding me on the ground with only one arm as the other one was clearly broken. I cried that I made someone so great get hurt because of me but I still could see the conviction of his words as well as all the fury that would be unleashed should he need to. After he saw that I calmed down a little he knocked me out. I woke up on my bed, surrounded by a few people I knew. The Oak family and an officer Jenny. Contrary to what most people in my old world would like to think. Joys and Jennies weren¡¯t clones. They were kind of a symbol. If you became one, they would paint your hair. They didn¡¯t look equal if you saw two, one besides the other. I was asked what happened and Green made sure that I would tell everything in my mind. Once the officer left I got scolded by Daisy, a lot. Oak apologized that he didn¡¯t saw what I was going through but also scolded me for trying to kill myself. Once both of them left, Green talked to me. He explained to me that what happened to me was being looked at and had an idea on what was happening but it was better I didn¡¯t know what was happening. This wasn¡¯t a case of an adult bullshiting a kid. This was something that even he didn¡¯t want to know, I could tell. He assured me that something to deal with the entire situation would be found. Once again I couldn¡¯t deny the conviction of his words. New Life in the Pokemon World - Part 3 One would look and my life so far I say that this was the point where everything started to work but it wasn¡¯t. I had to have my stupidity beaten out of me two more times by Green before anything could be done. After I got back I started to pick fights with everyone because I was angry. So that was the first beating. The second one was because I was being an idiot and becoming depressed again. Some people might think that you shouldn¡¯t treat kids like that, and that is true, but I wasn¡¯t a kid. At least not completely. I had a lot of adult ¡®memories¡¯ if you could that but in truth I was just a kid with more knowledge than normal. It took a few punches and being told to my face that I didn¡¯t have to try and fix my problems by myself. There are plenty of adults they can and will help me. It took another 3 months until something was found that gave me any hopes for the future. At least now I had people constantly keeping an eye on me and Oak. The old man moved with me so I wouldn¡¯t do something stupid, again. Not that I minded. He teached me a lot about Pokemon that I didn¡¯t know. How they live, biology, diet, etc¡ He said something that kind of shook me. Something that never even passed through my mind. People eat pokemon, pokemon and pokemon, pokemon eat people. This is a fact of life in this world. I know that there are synthetic farms for meat all around the globe so not everyone has to eat pokemon but it isn¡¯t something frowned upon, even if everyone knows that every single pokemon at least understands people. The reason why is that there are two types of pokemon, at least it was how Oak explained to me. The ¡®beast¡¯ pokemon and the ¡®smart¡¯ pokemon. ¡®Smart¡¯ pokemon are what people think about pokemon. They can understand people, they have their personalities and lives, and can even create society to some level. The beast pokemon are pokemon that simply can¡¯t learn. They are pretty much animals from my old world. They can still understand humans and do everything else a smart pokemon could do but if you leave them alone they are pretty much driven by instinct alone. It has been almost a century since people had the technology and knowledge to identify what type of pokemon a pokemon is. You can breed cow pokemon for meat as long as they are ¡®beast¡¯ pokemon for exemple. Also, there are a lot more pokemon than I would have guessed. The current estimation is around 1500 pokemon worldwide but that number is probably still not close to the actual number. A lot of regions simply didn¡¯t and still don¡¯t allow people to travel there or to leave so a lot of pokemon are landlocked along with any information about them. As for what happened, Green came to my house with his entire family. He had two kids, twins, a boy and a girl my age and to my surprise his wife was Blue. I had to do a double and triple take of what I was seeing because I couldn¡¯t quite believe they were a thing. She was motherly? Nice? Can¡¯t quite select one word. As for why they were all there. The first thing was because she heard about me and wanted to check to confirm if I wasn¡¯t some sort of survivor from some experiment with children. I never looked into it but the reason I survived was because I literally washed on the shore of Pallet Town. They have a small port south of the town and I was found there. The second reason was because there was still one type of pokemon I didn¡¯t have contact with. A recently born pokemon and she had a pokemon egg she was holding into that was to hatch in a few days. The egg had to stay with me 24/7 and I finally had people my age to talk and play with. The boy was named Mizuho and the girl was Konoha. It was there that I also learned another quirk of my strange language chance ability. The name people gave to me would be their name, independently of what the language was at the moment. The name changes only occurred if I knew them from any sort of media in my old world. They were both born here in Pallet but are now living in Johto since Blue was helping with some sort of breeding program to repopulate some areas with pokemon around the region. They didn¡¯t know if they wanted to be trainers. Their parents were a big deal so they felt a little intimidated by the idea of maybe battling against them in the near future. Green was still very active in high levels. He casually fights elite four members and champions all around the world so even if he doesn¡¯t participate in many competitions, nobody can say he isn¡¯t active. Those matches also net a lot of money by what they told me. We couldn¡¯t really play outdoors so video games, board games and TV it was. Oak wasn¡¯t very good at games. He beat me on TV every time though. Around a week after they began somewhat living with me the egg began to hatch and a Wooper came out. The little guy or girl wasn¡¯t afraid of me. I cried so hard. A weight I didn¡¯t know I had had lifted. Not all pokemon freaked out when seeing me and the best part was that as long as a pokemon that wasn¡¯t freaking out was near me, other pokemon simply wouldn¡¯t. Sadly not everything was rainbows and chocolate. Stolen story; please report. That pokemon wasn¡¯t mine and Blue had to bring it back to Johto. After a day or two where she allowed me to play with it, she had to take it to the pokecenter in the town to have it checked and put in a special pokemon that would allow the pokemon to be easily released in the wild when the time came. When she got back the little guy was afraid of me again, along with all the other pokemon. I got a little sad but I finally had some light I could actually see at the end of this tunnel. They gave me a farewell party even if it was then going out. Blue asked my favorite pokemon too. I said it was Charizard. Some people might think he was overrated but this wasn¡¯t a game and the fire flying lizard could get really big. They really looked like dragons when you saw them up close and they were very cool. I also blurted out that my second favorite was Raichu and the Third was Linoone, the ones from Hoenn. Everyone said their goodbyes and I was left once again with Oak and Daisy, when she visited. The unspoken promise I was given was that if they didn¡¯t find anything that would ¡®cure¡¯ me, they would have an egg ready for me when I became 10 years old. Seeing that I couldn¡¯t leave the pokemon, ever, if that came to be, I had to be a beast. I needed to be ready for anything and everything. I began to train my body and mind. I ran around, did push-ups, sit-ups and anything else I found to be useful. Then I would study Pokemon, their known moves, abilities, quirks. I would watch and rewatch any battles I found on TV or online with pokemons I was studying. I devoured the pokedex, figuratively, along with any information about pokemon I could find. If a new pokemon was officially added to the pokedex I would know about it. Not that it happened often. On my ninth birthday, that was in the second month of the year, Green and his family came to visit me again. They brought a few presents to me, as well as a few pokemon eggs. The presents were stuff I would need as a trainer that I couldn¡¯t go out to buy myself. Clothes, a bag, running shoes, a fishing rod, etc¡Nothing I would use at the time so I stored everything in a safe place. They would stay in town for a week. They were busy people but I didn¡¯t mind. They also didn¡¯t know exactly if the eggs would hatch while they were there but they at least wanted me to have a pokemon to play with for a day. They also said they had a surprise for me on the day before they left. I played with Mizuho and Konoha everyday and two eggs hatched during those 7 days. One was Shiny Hoothoot and the other was a Mareep. Contrary to what I was led to believe by my game knowledge, every pokemon born from an egg is very small and would grow as they ate and lived. It was fun playing with both of them. Having some contact with pokemon was nice, even if I knew that once they left they would be afraid of me. Pokemon have a strange energy around them that makes you want to stay with them, especially if they are nice. Like they said to be, just before they left, they put me into a giant black box and moved me somewhere. Since pokemon needed to see me to freak out, they had to do that to take me out of the town. After several minutes they put me somewhere and told me to leave the box. When I did I found myself inside another box, one made out of a strange glass. I was told that I could see the outside from inside but nobody could see me from the outside. Also inside was a small portable computer and outside the box there was a group of people. It took a moment for me to see that this was an area just outside the town that was transformed into a makeshift pokemon arena. Green told me that I was going to battle all the trainers he found. The computer had info on all the pokemon he had available for me to use but to the limitations I had all the battles would be 1 on 1 as I couldn¡¯t switch pokemon myself. With all that we began. I had 10 pokemon available to me. Machoke, Aipom, Rhyhorn, Nidorino, Gligar, Zigzagoon, Gastly, Gloom, Shinx and a Pidgeotto. It was fun, I didn¡¯t lose a single match and not because they let me win. I guess all the studying I did clicked. Also, the trainers were just people in the area by the looks of it so I shouldn¡¯t have expected a hard challenge. The pokemon were also special pokemon trained for this kind of thing so they easily followed my commands. Once we were done, I was kidnapped again and brought back to my house. Everyone said their goodbyes and we went our ways. I wasn¡¯t going to see them for a while after that. The twins were going to start their journey in Johto so I would probably only see them if we all got into the Indigo Conference, they from the Johto side and me from the Kanto side. My training and studying continued like normal. When the new year came I could finally access my family¡¯s finances as it was the year I was going to be 10 years old. I ordered actual clothes for myself online. The stuff I got from Green and Blue was the stuff you would use below your actual clothes so I wanted something to fit my style. By the end of the first month, it was not January but I read it as such for some reason. Every kid that was going to be 10 at least until the 6th month of the year could take a small test and receive their trainer license. Oak put the world that I couldn¡¯t leave my house and someone came to apply the test to me there. I, of course, passed with flying colors. Two days later my license came by mail. Oak told me to rest for the day as he would be bringing me my pokemon himself in the morning. Once the new day came, I packed everything I would need for my journey in my bag, cleaned my room for the last time in a while and moved to the door. Oak had ring the bell and called for me. A Journey Begins ¡°Hello young trainer. I am here to help you start your journey.¡± Oak said to me as I opened the door. He was dressed as you would imagine him to be when you started any game he was the one that gave you your starter pokemon. ¡°Oak, what¡¡± I tried to say but he cut me off. ¡°Professor Oak. Someone took me out of my retirement.¡± He said, grinning at me. ¡°Alright. Professor Oak, come in.¡± I said as I allowed him to enter. We sat in my living room where he put an egg inside an incubator along with a pokedex, a laptop and a few pokeballs on top of the coffee table we had there. ¡°As you know, you are kind of in a special situation. Usually new trainers receive either a starter pokemon from a lab or they already had a pokemon before starting their journey. You weren¡¯t allowed to have a pokemon by law and we can¡¯t give you a starter one, hence this egg. He will hatch the moment we take it off this incubator he is in.¡± He explained it to me. I understood all that he implied. My pokemon would have 0 training. He would be way weaker than the pokemon other people would have at this point in their journey. ¡°I get it.¡± ¡°Also, take this pokeball. It¡¯s a special one.¡± he said as he gave me a pokeball that was clearly heavier than a normal one. ¡°What is this?¡± ¡°That pokeball is the most secure pokeball in existence, as far as I know. Once you catch a pokemon with it, the pokeball will lock on your DNA and will never be able to be moved more than a meter or two from you. It will also emit a pulse that will make your pokemon think you are always near them. I think the radius is around 10 kilometers.¡± He happily explained to me. ¡°This sounds expensive.¡± ¡°I could give you a thousand of those and not make a dent on my bank account. Not that they have that many made yet.¡± ¡°Well, thanks. I guess it wasn¡¯t easy. You could barely get any data from me, right?¡± ¡°Bah! Not a problem. This just shows that we didn¡¯t learn everything about pokemon yet. Now continuing, this is a pokedex. I don¡¯t have to tell you about it, right?¡± He said as he pointed to the red device near the egg. It was an updated version of the 4th generation pokedex, I think the ones you would find in the Sinnoh games. ¡°Yes, didn¡¯t think my request would actually be heard.¡± I said as I took it and registered my trainer card in it so it would become my pokedex. ¡°Most kids just use their Rotom phones for everything. I am still surprised you don¡¯t.¡± ¡°If something happens to the Rotom almost every function of the device stops working correctly. I don¡¯t want my pokedex, much less my phone to suddenly stop working if something happens to the Rotom while I am in a pinch.¡± ¡°Well, it¡¯s rare for such things to happen but they do. So I guess I can¡¯t fault you for being cautious. Anyway, I think it¡¯s time for you to get your partner. I am sorry but I have no idea what the pokemon will be. It was hard enough getting one that would be able to hatch on command.¡± he said as he pointed me to the egg. I wasn¡¯t going to complain no matter what came out. He already went out of his way to do so much for me, no reason to be a brat. I carefully took the egg and began to caress it. Like I was told, it took less than a minute for it to begin to glow and hatch. To my surprise what came out was a small charmander that was all too happy with me. I don¡¯t really know why but I began to cry tears of happiness. Oak took the laptop, did something and turned it back to me. There I saw Green and Blue. This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience. ¡°Hello kid. I see you liked the surprise.¡± Green said to me with smugness. ¡°Hello dear. Are you alright? Also, nice clothes.¡± Green said to me. My clothes were similar to the ones Black used in the first Black & White game. I liked his style and these clothes had a nice function to regulate temperature. No matter if it was freezing cold or blazing hot I would still be comfortable. The only difference is that my jacket was red as it was the only color available. I also didn¡¯t have a hat. I don¡¯t like hats. I have no idea how people with long hair use hats. My hair is barely on my shoulders and I feel strangely bad putting anything on top of it. ¡°But how? A charmander egg can take from 5 to 10 months to hatch at random.¡± I said as I dried my tears. ¡°I have friends, you know. Also, that is not any charmander. That¡¯s my partner¡¯s kid. Take good care of it.¡± Green said as his Charizard appeared on screen and said something that my charmander looked to take to heart. ¡°Yeah. Catch and go on an adventure already. Nobody should have to stay cooped in their house for so long.¡± Blue said, hurrying me to go out. ¡°Well, are you ready?¡± I asked the charmander. ¡°CHAR!¡± He happily said to me. I took the special pokeball Oak pointed to me and pressed on Charmander¡¯s forehead. He happily got inside. The pokeball shook just once. My pokedex suddenly updated, showing that I now had a pokemon registered to me. It also had some information about my pokemon, like gender and approximate levels of power, not that I need it. I could feel them myself. Once I checked everything once I sent my Charmander out once again. ¡°Little guy. Your name will be Blaze. We are going to travel the world and become the best. Are you ready?¡± I asked Blaze. He puffed some fire showing he was ready. ¡°Look at it. He is saying that is going to take you on, darling.¡± Blue said to Green. ¡°He can try but I will not hold back.¡± Green said. ¡°Well, no sense in just delaying now. I can say how happy I am with everything. I promise to make all of you proud. I will also look at what is happening to me when I can.¡± ¡°Enjoy your adventure first. You deserve it.¡± Blue said to me. ¡°Yeah. And I believe we will see each other in the conference, right? Our kids plan to at least try to get there once from this side but even if they don¡¯t we will go see you. I know you have what it takes to get there.¡± Green said to me. ¡°What if he wants to participate in contests?¡± Green ask. ¡°We go to. Their respective conferences happen one after the other after all.¡± ¡°I plan on at least trying a bit of everything.¡± I said. ¡°Well kid. Then you can go. Don¡¯t worry about the house. Me and Daisy will keep it at least clean.¡± ¡°Thanks everyone¡ Blaze, let¡¯s go. We need to train you a little.¡± I said as I ran out of the house with him following me. Of course after I put everything I had to in my bag. Professor Oak ¡°I can tell he still had a lot to say or to feel but good call on just making him leave.¡± I said. ¡°The sooner we can get more data, the sooner we can understand what happened.¡± My grandson said to me. ¡°Any leads yet?¡± ¡°Nothing new. It was a pokemon but nobody knows which pokemon and we don¡¯t know exactly why he was the only one left alive. Everyone looked everywhere and we didn¡¯t even find rumors of people in the same situation as him at any point in time.¡± ¡°Well, at least we don¡¯t have to fear for his safety. He is a prodigy if I ever saw one.¡± ¡°Yeah. Kid is too good.¡± ¡°Reminds me of you and Red when you two left for your journey.¡± ¡°That¡¯s you just getting old. I am the best and I am going to prove it when we can understand what is going on.¡± ¡°I am sure he is itching to finally have a rematch after your last draw.¡± ¡°Probably. But let¡¯s drop this topic. Did you manage to get the files?¡± ¡°Yes, they should be arriving on your side at any moment.¡± ¡°Do you really think Kyogre was the one that saved him? Ruby and Sapphire checked on the guy and he was still sleeping.¡± ¡°It wouldn¡¯t be the first time a copy of a legendary pokemon appeared out there.¡± ¡°Can¡¯t argue against that. I am going to check the guy with Hoopa to see if something happened. He showed signs that he is still alive and if there is a pokemon that could summon a Kyogre it would be him.¡± ¡°Well, good luck. I will see you personally at the end of the year.¡± ¡°Thanks. See you then Gramps.¡± Training Time! ¡°Alright Blaze. This seems like a good place. Also, good job. You managed to follow me on foot.¡± I said to Blaze as we reached an area inside the forest between Pallet and Viridian that was full of rocks and had a small river nearby. ¡°Char!¡± He happily said to me. ¡°First thing, you need to eat. Take a small bite of each one and tell me which one you liked more.¡± I said as I sat down on the ground and put five berries in front of him. He ate all of them whole, even if he didn¡¯t like the taste of two by the looks of it. ¡°I guess it is my fault for not showing what you had to do. You just hatched after all.¡± I said as I put more of the same berries in front of him to see which one he would take. He looked at them for a moment and took a Pecha Berry. ¡°Want another?¡± ¡°Char!¡± He confirmed. ¡°Well, we will happily get along it seems.¡± I also liked sweet stuff a lot. He ate two more before he was full. I had pokemon food but I Oak told me that giving berries to young pokemon was actually healthier for them, at least for a few weeks. Then I could give normal food, be it pokemon food or meat and vegetables. Not that I would be able to feed charmander much of normal food for long. Pokemon needed way more food than people and pokemon food was concentrated food. Humans could eat it too but not too much and not frequently as it didn¡¯t really satiate hunger for us. After letting him digest the food a little I also gave him a little bit of water. Most fire pokemon didn¡¯t actually need to drink much of anything but it wasn¡¯t bad for him to drink some water from time to time. ¡°Alright partner. Time to start. Do you see that big rock? I want you to use Flamethrower there once.¡± I said to Blaze while pointing to the biggest rock we had nearby. His fire wouldn¡¯t do anything to it so I could check his power. Don¡¯t know how things work exactly but going by my game knowledge, Blaze has a Serious nature, so no bonuses or penalties in his stats. My strange power confirms it. My pokedex shows me the moves Blaze knows so far. Flamethrower, Dragonbreath, Scratch and Growl. So, two egg moves, not bad. Dragonbreath will also make it easier for him to learn Dragon Pulse in the future. Pokemon can just train moves so I don¡¯t have to go around looking for TMs and as far as I managed to find, if it makes sense for a pokemon to be able to use a move or there is at least a small possibility, a pokemon can probably train. Results may vary. For example, there is a confirmed case of a vaporeon learning transform. He can¡¯t maintain it for long and it drains his energy very fast but he can do it. Blaze gets up and focuses on the rock. After breathing in a little he shoots a stream of fire from his mouth into the rock for a few seconds before stopping. The rock is a little burned but that''s about it. Not as powerful as one would imagine but I can¡¯t really expect much from a pokemon that hatched not long ago. It¡¯s a miracle that he is already this active in the first place. ¡°Alright, now use Dragonbreath on that same rock.¡± Blaze focused once again and shot a stream of purple fire a little smaller than the one from before. This time it doesn¡¯t do anything visible to the rock. ¡°Good. good. See that tree? Run there, use Scratch on it and run back to me.¡± I say moving my hands, showing how to scratch the tree. He quickly dashes toward the tree, chips it a little with his claws and runs back to me happily. I give him a few pats on the head. ¡°One last thing. use Growl on me. Show me that you are strong.¡± ¡°CHAR!¡± Blaze growls at me. Can¡¯t say I really felt that but it was loud enough to maybe stop another pokemon for a moment. ¡°We are going to need to work on that last one. Your dad is normally scarier than that.¡± Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. ¡°Char!¡± He said to me. I think he somewhat understood what I meant. ¡°Ok, I am going to make our camp, you keep going to that tree, Scratch it for a while, return and Growl at me. Understood?¡± ¡°Char!¡± He said after looking at me for a few moments. He then began to do what I said. For around 30 minutes I went around putting my tent safely on the ground, and getting the equipment to make food ready. I also took a look at the pokedex to see what I could find about recently hatched charmanders. The pokedex really was an encyclopedia about pokemon so I didn¡¯t have to make do with a few lines of text. As it turns out, when charmanders are born, they are bundles of energy. They are actually somewhat mature way before they hatch and spend the last month or two inside there accumulating energy. Truly wild charmanders have to fight from the moment they are born so they have to be ready the moment they leave. There is also a very big warning about stealing eggs from a nest, especially from Charizards. In those cases, every single one in the vicinity will hunt you down, even if they didn¡¯t like each other very much. ¡°Alright buddy. Looks like you are done with it.¡± I say as I check him. PP is a thing but not in the same way as the games. It¡¯s more like stamina but pokemon have different bars for different moves. In this case Blaze just doesn¡¯t have more normal energy to use moves. Physically, he still has a lot of actual energy to move around and do stuff. ¡°Ok, back to the big rock. Use Flamethrower as much as you can for as long as you can until you can¡¯t anymore.¡± ¡°Char!¡± He says as he moves to the rock. I also began to train a little. I take off my jacket and begin to run around. ¡°Char?¡± He stops and asks me when he sees me running. ¡°I also need to train. Are you finished already?¡± He obviously wasn¡¯t and soon returned to trying to melt the stone. Once he was done with that I made him do the same with Dragonbreath. Once he finished that he still had energy to train his body with me. Signs that he had to stop only appeared a little after the run we did after we ate lunch.I let him take a nap on my lap as I watched the world around me. As I took in the world around me, a few tears began to drop down my face. I was so happy I wanted to cry but I held back a little. I didn¡¯t really have time to process everything that happened so now I am doing it. Why am I in this world? I don¡¯t know. Have to find out. What attacked that ship? No idea. Probably going to steer away from the ocean until I have really fast flying or surfing pokemon. How did I survive? Everyone said I was just lucky. I am 99% inclined to agree but on the off chance I wasn¡¯t just lucky, I need to understand why. Also, I am still a kid. Even if I was an adult before, all it helped was make me a more responsible kid here. I can¡¯t remember the details but adults here have way more responsibilities than one would imagine. Pokemons make everyone be more aware of what is happening around them. A while later Blaze woke up, full of energy and ready to train more. It took around 2 weeks before he was at an acceptable level. I can¡¯t quantify his level and level up moves only help so much with a bred pokemon. Pokemon Moves have a somewhat linear progression. Since Blaze knew Flamethrower he should technically be able to use Amber and Flame Burst at least. Moves that he actually learned when he failed to use Flamethrower at full power a couple of times. He also learned Dragon Rage in the same vein but with Dragonbreath. If I had to put a level on him, it would be around 6 or 7. We didn¡¯t battle many pokemon, around 10 at most. And by we I mean we. Some wild pokemon don¡¯t really care who they are fighting. With as much training as we could get there, I finally decided to go to Viridian. Blaze also burned all the newborn energy he had and chose to stay in his pokeball when I was traveling. Turns out that the pokeballs now have three modes. Stasis, Semi-Stasis and Window. The first one pretty much freezes a pokemon in time. It¡¯s like they hibernate while in there. Shouldn¡¯t be used unless a pokemon is really hurt or isn¡¯t going to be used for a long while and you can¡¯t feed it as much as it would normally need. The second one is a weaker version of the first. It is to help pokemon heal by themselves from injuries that don''t necessarily need a pokecenter visit. The last one just compresses them there. They can fully see what is happening outside and if a trainer allows, he can allow the pokemon to free himself. I did that. By the time we reached Viridian it was already the 24th. My anniversary was just a day away. I decided to fully stock up on items while in the city. I had a good amount I managed to buy online but I know that I will probably stay most of my time away from cities. After spending half a fortune in berries and medicine I went to the pokecenter. Not my first time seeing a Nurse Joy but once again the conspiracy theories were proven wrong. They are just people who put on a ¡®costume¡¯ if you would. I asked why they do that and she answered that it was mostly to give a sense of familiarity to everyone. If there is always a Joy available, even if it¡¯s one you know, you will feel more at ease. Couldn¡¯t argue against that. After Blaze received his check up, he was in perfect health. I contacted Oak and Daisy, told them what I did for the last two weeks and what I was planning to do. I have a team in mind and I can find 3 of them around Viridian. As much as I believe that Blaze will be a powerhouse, this isn¡¯t a game, I need more pokemon. You just have to throw the pokeball, right? Some people just catch pokemon and try to get a relationship after it. I am not one of those people. Yes, if you defeat a pokemon and catch it, most of the time, they are willing to at least hear you out but one mistake can set back the relationship back by a lot. I barely spent a day in the city and saw plenty of new trainers having to release pokemon because they simply couldn¡¯t work together. As for what I was doing, I was currently semi-lost inside Viridian Forest looking for a Pikachu. Blaze was getting a lot of battle experience as it seems like a lot of insect pokemon are just angry with anything that are not members of the forest. I make sure to spray a potion on any pokemon we defeat to make sure we don¡¯t leave a trail of corpses. Unlike the games, a single basic potion can be used a good number of times and they don¡¯t expire for a few years. ¡°Char!¡± Blaze says to me as he notices something ahead of us. ¡°Get ready. Let¡¯s hope it¡¯s not another Beedril. We made sure to not even go near a nest but they seem to really like us, don¡¯t they?¡± ¡°Get inside the ball! Please!¡± I heard a girl that seemed to be begging at someone. After waking a little I saw a scene that made me want to burst out laughing. There was this big Raichu being followed by around 5 pikachus and 3 Pichus, who was looking at the girl with pity. ¡°Hey you. Help me. My pokeballs are not working.¡± The girl said to me once I reached the area of the scene. ¡°What do you mean?¡± ¡°It simply doesn''t work in this Raichu and it simply doesn¡¯t reach the others.¡± She explained to me, clearly frustrated. ¡°...Hey big yellow. You have a trainer, don¡¯t you?¡± I asked the Raichu. He was bigger than the average Raichu according to the pokedex. ¡°Rai!¡± He confirmed to me. ¡°See. You can¡¯t capture other people''s pokemon.¡± ¡°Still, my pokeballs also don¡¯t work on the little ones and I know they don¡¯t have trainers.¡± ¡°What exactly are you doing?¡± ¡°Look.¡± She said as she took a pokeball from her bag and threw it in the general direction of the Pichus and Pikachu, over the Raichu. ¡°See? It doesn¡¯t reach them.¡± I was appalled. Now I understood that Raichu. ¡°You know that you have to throw the ball at the pokemon, not just in their general direction, right?¡± ¡°But I am doing that!¡± She said angrily. Oh Arceus! She has a terrible aim. ¡°Did you try to fight against them? If they are tired from a battle you might be able to just walk and touch them with a pokeball.¡± ¡°He doesn¡¯t let me. He keeps paralyzing my Sunny. My Parlyz Heal is almost empty.¡± ¡°...I am kind of curious what you are doing here. Especially with a bunch of wild Pichu and Pikachu.¡± I say to the Raichu. ¡°Rai rai raichu! Rai rai!¡± He says as he moves his hands and body around explaining something. ¡°You are taking care of them and looking for something?¡± I asked, a little confused. I couldn¡¯t quite understand what he was trying to explain fully. ¡°Rai, Rai!¡± He said more firmly, pointing at me and the girl. ¡°You are looking for people? Trainers?¡± ¡°Rai!¡± He confirmed. Reading on this site? This novel is published elsewhere. Support the author by seeking out the original. ¡°For them?¡± ¡°Rai!¡± He confirmed again. ¡°Any reason why you didn¡¯t give her a chance?¡± ¡°Rai Rai Raichu!¡± He said, giving the motion of a fight. This time I fully understood. She simply appeared and picked a fight or an equivalent as it seemed to not have worked one bit. ¡°Hey girl. I don¡¯t really understand why but as you heard, he is looking for trainers for these guys. Have tried to explain why you want to capture one of them? He is smart enough to understand you.¡± She took a pokeball out of her belt and from it she let an Oddish out. ¡°Stars are born and I am one of them! The world will hear our names and cheer with our presence! I will be a superstar! Ann and Sunny will shine upon your lives!¡± She presented herself while doing a somewhat cute dance and fishing with a strange dance pose. Her Oddish participated in all of it. ¡°Like what? Contest? Movies? Showcases?¡± ¡°Yes!¡± She happily confirmed. ¡°You heard her. She wants to be a diva and show off to everyone. Do you think any of them want something like that?¡± The Raichu began to talk with the others and after a few minutes he picked one of the Pichus and put it in front of Ann. ¡°So, can I catch it? They are all really cute.¡± She asked. ¡°RAI!¡± That was a no. ¡°Probably better to wait.¡± ¡°RAI RAI RAICHU!¡± He said as he looked and pointed to me. ¡°If you are asking if I am also looking for one of them. Then yes, I am. I am looking for a partner to travel with me all around the world and become the strongest.¡± He began to once again talk with all the others and moved them out of the way, leaving a good space for us. ¡°Rai!¡± he said as he pointed to himself. ¡°You want to have a battle?¡± ¡°Rai!¡± He said as he shook his head. He hit his chest once again while pointing at Blaze who was just happily watching everything. ¡°You just want him to hit you? Like, the strongest thing he can do?¡± ¡°Rai!¡± He confirmed. ¡°Alright. Blaze, you heard him. Use the strongest Flamethrower you can. Remember to focus on it and just on him.¡± ¡°CHAR!¡± My partner said confidently as he got ready. He took a moment to concentrate and launched a torrent of fire towards the Raichu. Said Raichu just took it and stood there for a few seconds. Once the attack stopped, the Raichu discharged some electricity to completely remove any fire that might be on him. He got hurt a little but I could tell that it was basically nothing. If he lost 3% of his HP it would be a lot. ¡°Rai rai rai!¡± ¡°Char Char!¡± ¡°Rai Raichu!¡± ¡°Char charmander!¡± They seem to be talking about something and I can¡¯t understand one bit. ¡°Char!¡± Blaze suddenly turns around to me, happier than before. ¡°I don¡¯t really understand it but I am happy you are happy.¡± Raichu then walked towards his group, picked a Pichu and gave it to me. ¡°Pichu!¡± The Pichu excitedly said to me as I had him in my arms. I looked at the Raichu to get confirmation that I could just catch the Pichu and he nodded to me, confirming it. I took a pokeball and pressed into his head and he was caught a few seconds later with my pokedex updating. My Pichu was a male one, he didn¡¯t have perfect IVs, both the dex analisis and my power told me. He also had a lot of egg moves. Wish, Fake Out, Disarming Voice and Charge. Of course he had his normal moves Tail Whip, Thunder Shock, Play Nice and Sweet Kiss. The Raichu then moved to Ann and allowed her to catch the Pichu in front of her. She was visibly happy with her new pokemon. ¡°Rai Rai Rai Raichu!¡± The Raichu said while pointing to the both of us somewhat violently. Strangely enough I clearly understood what he was saying. ¡°Just so she hears it too. I have to keep an eye on her for a while? To see if you didn¡¯t make a mistake, right?¡± I asked and he nodded in agreement. ¡°Hey, I am not going to mistreat her. Why would I do anything to hurt a cutie like that?¡± Ann complained. ¡°Probably to make sure what you are doing and what your Pichu things she will be doing will not be conflicting. I saw a lot of pokemon that I know simply weren¡¯t made for what I am trying to do.¡± ¡°Alright, Alright. I will be taking all the pokeballs I threw and I will be going to Viridian. Is that alright with you?¡± ¡°Planning on going back too. My name is Himura by the way. This is Blaze, my partner.¡± I said as I walked towards her to give a handshake. ¡°My name is Ann and I will be a superstar!¡± She said as she shook my hand. The Raichu quickly gathered his merry band of electric rats and continued his journey into the forest. I could feel that if we let anything bad happen to the Pichus he was more than capable of finding and dealing with us. Whoever caught that Raichu was probably a beast. After she gathered her pokeball we began to return to the city. I didn¡¯t plan on it but I have a companion, at least for a while. A Totally Normal Way of Battling. It took around 2 hours for us to reach the city from the forest. We arrive just a little after noon. We had our pokemon be checked on the pokecenter and once they were returned we immediately went to eat. The kitchen in the pokecenter was free so we managed to cook our food there. In exchange for me preparing the main course she made a few quick desserts using berries. ¡°This is way better than what I cook. Why don¡¯t you become my personal chef?¡± Ann seriously asked me. ¡°Yeah, no. I plan to challenge the gyms.¡± ¡°I am going to participate in a contest at the end of the month. Sunny and I trained a lot for this.¡± She said to me and then turned to her Pichu. ¡°Sparkly, you will need to watch very closely what we do so you will be able to go into the stage with us.¡± ¡°Pichu!¡± She cutely responded. ¡°I plan on participating in one, eventually. And for what it is worth, I hope you manage to win.¡± I couldn¡¯t say more because contests changed a lot from what I knew. The showing your pokemon part was all well and alive, along with a second stage where you had to battle but the problem was that rules would change arbitrarily between one contest and the other. It might be required that you use a costume at one contest but not in others. You might have to be part of the first stage presentation, like a pokemon showcase, but sometimes you couldn¡¯t even give orders to your pokemon. I could admit that it helped in making things interesting for people watching but you couldn¡¯t just dip your toes in that stage without some amount of preparation. Also, unlike badges, ribbons are pretty much international. If you reach a rank in the contest scene, you would be able to participate in contests of that rank pretty much anywhere in the world. ¡°Thanks. Also, what name did you give to yours? I saw you talking to him earlier.¡± She said as she pointed to my Pichu. ¡°Bolt. He liked it so much I didn¡¯t even have time to think about any others. I just blurted it out by accident and he wanted it.¡± ¡°Pichu!¡± Bolt proudly said as he tapped his chest. He really liked the name. Also, he has a sweet tooth like Blaze and me. I am starting to see a pattern here. ¡°Good for you little guy. What are we doing later?¡± She asked, completely changing her vibe. ¡°I am going to Route 22. There are two pokemon there I want to add to my team before I go to Pewter to challenge the Gym.¡± ¡°Why don¡¯t you challenge the gym here?¡± She asked me, really confused. ¡°Because the gym leader is not known for being reasonable.¡± The new gym leader was a young woman that refused to use anything but her strongest team. Her name was Bertha and there are a lot of calls for the pokemon association to take her out of her position. Can¡¯t say I don¡¯t understand why but the Viridian Gym already had a reputation of being the last challenge before the conference and the league. Also, as far as what is available online, she knows the difference between a gym battle and a no holds bar one. People are more than capable of earning her badge if they are good enough to earn 8 badges. ¡°If you say so.¡± She said, somewhat disinterested. We finished eating, rested for about 30 minutes and then set out to Route 22. She didn¡¯t need to come with me but I can¡¯t stop her from coming. Ann This boy is strange. At least he will keep me from getting bored for a while. Also, he has to keep a watch on me because of that Raichu. Whatever that means. Sparkly is too cute for me to ever do anything bad to her. It took a good hour before we exited the city but that is life as a trainer, at least if you are poor. Shouldn¡¯t have used all my free money to get a cab to Pewter. He sent out his two pokemon and now they are talking¡Is that a pokedex? And is that his phone? Oh my Arceus. He is poor. He couldn¡¯t even afford a basic Rotom phone and had to use those old podexes? He is probably going to challenge a gym, right? If he wins I will help him find a cheap Rotom phone. Oh? A flock of Spearows. We are probably going to have to go around it. Wait, wait! ¡°HEY!¡± ¡°Bolt, Fake Out! Blaze, Flame Burst!¡± He shouted. His Pichu suddenly dashed towards the flock and slapped his hand very hard, stunning them for a moment before leaving the way for the Chamander¡¯s attack. It hit the Spearow that was in the middle and splashed on the others. ¡ And that flock just left. Aren¡¯t Spearow supposed to be angry pokemon that fought anything? Oh that why. The leader is coming. ¡°Hey, there is a big Fearow coming here. You should probably leave.¡± I shout to him ¡°That is kinda what I was wanting.¡± He shouts back. He is crazy. I need to call someone to help me. I don¡¯t think I will be able to save him! Mom, Dad, Uncle, Grandma... I don¡¯t have the contact of anyone or anything of Viridian. Please don¡¯t die. Stolen story; please report. Why is his Pichu just walking toward the big bird? Why are they shaking hands and wings? Wait, where is his Charmander? Oh no, it is angry now. ¡°Now Blaze! Dragonbreath! Bolt, Charge!¡± He shouted. Suddenly the Fearow was hit by a purple flame from behind and became unable to move. ¡°Blaze, Smokescreen! Bolt, Thundershock!¡± He shouted again. His Charmander let a lot of black smoke out of his mouth into the face of the big bird and the Pichu fried it with a shock. He called his two pokemon back¡ The Fearow is leaving, along with the flock. What the fuck just happened? It¡¯s been 10 minutes, what is he waiting for? Another flock of Spearows? Well, there is something coming here. It¡¯s a bunch of Pidgeys and Pidgeottos. Guess they are his target now. And he is just talking with them. Wait, he caught one? Why is he waving to me? ¡°I am going over there.¡± He shouted, pointing at a few trees at the distance. If he thinks I am going to be left alone here he is going to be disappointed. I follow him for a few minutes until he reaches a small grove of trees. ¡°You should probably have at least one pokemon out to defend you, just for safety.¡± He shouted. I release both Sunny and Sparkly, just in case another bunch of birds appear. ¡°AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! COME OUT!¡± He shouts really loudly. He then crouches down and says something to his pokemon. ¡°MANKEY!¡± I hear various cries. Oh no! He didn¡¯t! I need to get someone, now! Please don¡¯t die. I put my pokemon back in the pokeballs and run as fast as I can. It takes around 10 minutes until I reach the city. Once I see any adult I talk to them. ¡°Please, I need help. My friend is being attacked by a horde of Mankeys.¡± I say as I catch my breath. Turns out running can be just as exhausting as dancing. ¡°Where!¡± ¡°Back there. Near some tree, a little out of the dirt road.¡± ¡°Police? There is a kid being attacked by wild pokemon. A friend of his came running to the city to ask for help. I am just outside the city on Route 22. No, it¡¯s not my kid. Monkeys.¡± The guy was talking on the phone with the police. I will need to ask for the number. I forgot the general one but having the local one is always better. It only takes a minute until two police bikes arrive. There is a Jenny and an officer. ¡°Quick! Hop in and show where he is.¡± The Jenny tells me. I quickly jump on the bike and grab and hold her while pointing in the direction I just came from. It takes around two minutes to reach the area because of the terrain and once we reach there we are all paralyzed in disbelief. There are half a dozen monkeys knocked out on the ground and he is battling another 10 or so at the same time and winning. He was throwing stones around while commanding his pokemon and dodging, along with all of them. He even was using the Pidgey he just caught. It would sometimes pick his Pichu up and just drop it on top of a Mankey before using Gust of something to blow another one away. I need to film this. I take my phone out and begin to record everything that is happening. When he turns around for a moment, I zoom on his face. Yep, that confirms it, he is crazy and his pokemon are equally as crazy. ¡°Why are you making that face?¡± The Jenny asks me. ¡°He is crazy. He and his pokemon are all smiling while they fight. He had made a flock of Spearows run away not long ago but it wasn¡¯t even close to this.¡± ¡°Let¡¯s keep an eye out, just to be sure.¡± Hearing that I let my two pokemon out. They might be useful. 10, 9, 8, the numbers continue to go down. He is not afraid of getting hit or fighting himself. There is no rule saying that you can¡¯t fight a pokemon in the wild and he is fully taking advantage of it. Even when he tackled to the ground he quickly gets up and charges in, usually doing the same thing to another Mankey. It takes 5 minutes until only 3 Mankeys remain. He completely retires himself from the fight and focuses on only commanding his pokemon. His Pichu Glows with electricity and discharges it on one of the Mankeys. His Pidgey sends a Gust of wind that sends another one flying. Finally, his Charmander launches a torrent of fire from his mouth but this Mankey actually manages to resist. He then throws a pokeball. It takes a moment but it seems like he caught it. Now he is running around¡ ¡°YEAH! WE WON! UHU! WE WON! WE WON!¡± He shouts as he runs around with his pokemon. When he sees me he runs in my direction and makes me join him. I am unable to resist him and my two lovely pokemon are also swept by his own. It is only once the officer Jenny gets his attention that I am able to break free. ¡°Boy, do you have anything to say to me?¡± She asks, very seriously. It takes a moment for him to process what is happening. ¡°Oh shit! They are still knocked out.¡± He says as he runs towards the Mankeys he just defeated. One by one he makes them eat a berry. It is enough to wake them up and make them run back to the trees. His pokemon even helped with that. ¡°No problem now, right?¡± He asked the Jenny once he finished. ¡°...You know your friend got so worried about you that she called us, right?¡± She said as she pointed to me. ¡°... You didn¡¯t had to. They are just Mankeys, one that lives near a city. Didn¡¯t you see how they could only attack in a straight line. It is very easy to dodge. I was expecting more than that. The report said that there was a full band of Mankeys here. That was just half of one. There wasn¡¯t even a Primeape leading them¡± He said to me. I almost fainted from how casually he said all of that. I saw a Primeape once and they are scary. And what does he mean it¡¯s easy to dodge? He was moving nonstop. ¡°Jenny, please take me back to the city. I think I am going to faint if I hear another outrageous thing come out of his mouth.¡± ¡°Can I get a ride to the pokecenter too? I don¡¯t think anyone got too hurt but I want to have everyone checked before I continue training, especially the new guy. Put up a hell of a fight.¡± I almost fainted upon hearing that. The last thing I remember was retrieving my pokemon and riding back to the city on Jenny¡¯s bike. Several minutes later I was outside the pokecenter as I watched him send out all his pokemon, give them some berries and start training. That is it, I need to do something normal or I will go crazy. Sparkly, I had planned to let you watch it on the stage first but I am going to teach you how to dance now. A Strange Contest Himura I have to admit that the girl knows what she is doing. It took her less than 2 days for her Pichu to get a good hang on how to do things at an acceptable level. It¡¯s not as coordinated with her as the Oddish is but she is good enough that it doesn¡¯t look bad to the common person. All my pokemon seem to like to watch as they dance, especially Asura, my Mankey. Music of any sort seems to calm him a lot, even more than the spicy berries he loves so much. Valkyrie, my Pidgey, seems to like to sing every once in a while. More than once she just started to sing along with any music Ann was using for training. ¡°Tomorrow is your big day, right?¡± I asked before we went to bed. Today, by pure luck, we are sharing one of the free rooms in the pokecenter. ¡°Just the first step in my career as a start.¡± She proudly said. ¡°It¡¯s the normal rank one, right? If everyone in that rank is as good as I think you are, I might have to check what is happening in the higher ranks.¡± ¡°Why would you do that?¡± ¡°You know Wallace, right? He was the champion of Hoenn for a while and he always said that contests were one of the most important reasons he managed to be so good at battling too. He could see and feel things other trainers couldn¡¯t because of his experiences.¡± ¡°Why did I expect anything else from you? I am going to sleep, don¡¯t wake me up or I will kill you.¡± She said annoyed and then seriously. We quickly fell asleep after that. We woke up somewhat early the next day. I did my morning run with my pokemon before breakfast and found her in the kitchen when I got back. ¡°Why are you nervous?¡± I asked. She seemed to be fully confident in her chances but suddenly she was very nervous. ¡°Lisia is going to be one of the judges. They just announced it.¡± ¡°...Ain¡¯t that Wallace¡¯s niece? I know she is pretty famous in her own right before you say anything to me.¡± I say, trying to calm things down in case she is a super fan or something. ¡°Yeah, that¡¯s her and she is really strict when she is a judge. Also, she is probably changing the rules so no one will know what we need to do until the contest starts.¡± ¡°Can someone even do that?¡± ¡°She can. The Contest Association is very open to anything that might help their image a little. The world still is mostly of battle junkies like you or people that like to watch they do.¡± ¡°Hey, I am not a battle junkie. I am not picking fights with anyone I see.¡± ¡°Whatever you say. Sparkly, I wanted to have you watch the show but I will need to have you on hand. Sorry for the pressure but if I have to use you, please try your best.¡± She said as she took one of her pokeball and began to speak to it. We quickly moved to the avenue. It was a stadium just as big as the Gym, that was comparable to a football stadium size wise. Every participant could give a free entry ticket to someone so Ann gave one to me. After the entire place was filled the contest began. Ann I am so nervous! At least they didn¡¯t ask for costumes at the last minute. I have no idea what I would have done for Sparkly. I am still thinking about what to do. I also have to keep in mind that she will evolve at one point or another. ¡°Alright contestants. Plase all move to the stage and don''t let your pokemon out.¡± A member of the staff said to all of us in the dressing rooms. We moved through the backstage corridors to the stage. Thousands of people cheered as Lisia just finished her song and began to announce that we arrived as well as the rules. ¡°Now that all the participants are here, let me explain the rules of this first stage. Everyone, no matter their rank, will send out one of their pokemon and you will have to tell everyone here why you are participating and why you want to win.¡± She excitedly said. The audience seemed intrigued by what she said. She took her place in the judge corner and one by one people were being called, from highest to lowest rank. The Master Rank coordinators all pretty much just admitted that they are there just because it was the first contest of the year. As for why they wanted to win, it varied a little. One wanted to prove he was worthy of the master rank he had and winning this contest made him one step closer to the Master Conference at the end of year. The second one wanted to test himself in this new rank of competition. The third one was there for the money and the last one wanted to show her pokemon. It continued down the ranks in more or less the same manner. People had all kinds of dreams or reasons to participate. The judges asked questions to the pokemons themselves to see if they really wanted to be there, most responses looked positive. When it was my turn I sent Sunny out and we walked in front of everyone. It was dazzling in a nice way. ¡°Hello, my name is Ann and this is Sunny, my partner. We are here to win the contest we are taking part in. The reason we want to win is because we want to be superstars and shine like the sun!¡± I said with all my conviction as did one of our poses with Sunny. ¡°Well, you sure have big dreams. And you Sunny, are you going with the crazy dream your trainer has?¡± Lisia asked. ¡°Odd! Oddish!¡± Sunny angrily shouted back. That ''s right. It isn¡¯t my dream, it¡¯s our dream, right Sunny? ¡°I guess that answers my question. Sorry for making light of your dream.¡± Thanks for your time, may the next contestant come please.¡± She said. We quickly left the stage. A few minutes later we were finally divided by our ranks. Only 60% of the people in my rank, the normal one, actually passed that first stage. Since we had the most people, there were 22 people left. Once we were called back to the stage, Lisia began to speak again. This time from the judge corner. ¡°Now, for the second part of the contest, for the normal rank, the contestant will have to find someone willing to battle for them in the next five minutes. In case they don¡¯t find anyone, a random person willing to participate will be chosen from the audience.¡± She explained and quickly, everyone began to look around. I could try to bet on a random person but it¡¯s better the devil you know. I looked around and found Himura. He is a battle junkie, he is waving at me like a crazy person. I quickly motion for him to come and the idiot jumps out of the seats and comes walking to me like it¡¯s nothing. ¡°You could have come the normal way, you know?¡± I said, somewhat embarrassed. ¡°This is faster. Also, this place is more complicated than you would imagine.¡± ¡°Whatever you say. Stay here and wait. And try to not make me look strange if possible.¡± Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. Less than half of the participants manage to find someone so a few willing people in the audience are chosen. It takes a few more minutes for everyone to be moved to the stage. ¡°Alright, here are the rules for the battle. The Contest participants will have to do the dance that was expected of them in the first stage while being protected by the trainer that they are paired with. The performances will be judged in real time. As your score rises some hidden pokemon will help the one battling. The music you choose will also become more clear to the audience the higher you score is from your opponent. Everyone in the audience will find headphones below their seats. They are specially made so that either them or the staff will be able to change the music they hear at the beginning. A small band will also be put on the contestant that in case it¡¯s destroyed he will be immediately disqualified. The battlers can use more than one pokemon but only pokemon may be out at a time. Besides that, go wild.¡± Lisia explained. I was nervous. We didn¡¯t return to the dressing rooms and watched the battles from the back stage. By sheer unluck mine was the last of this set. This was probably going to be a small tournament. Battles didn¡¯t go more than two minutes so far because of the rules with almost everyone being disqualified because the bands were being destroyed. ¡°The next participants, please go to the stage¡± A member of the staff said and we quickly went there. In front of me was a small arena with Himura in front of me. On the other side was an old man with a teenage girl behind him. ¡°Battlers, announce yourselves please.¡± The announcer said. ¡°I am Himura.¡± ¡°I am Chester and I am sorry for what is about to happen boy.¡± The old man said. ¡°Begin the dance. The battle starts in 15 seconds.¡± The announcer said. I could only hear the music I chose even if I knew that not too far from me my opponent was in the same situation. Technology is really interesting. My music is a very active idol song about a bunch of Sunfloras bringing the sun into a night of fun in the city. The music started a little slow. Me and Sunny just moved a little, doing a few basic moves but when the music began to really start, the battle also did. ¡°Fake Out!¡± Himura shouted as he threw his pokeball. Bolt appeared and quickly flinched his opponent. A giant Venusaur if you compared the two. I continued to dance and saw he quickly returned Bolt and sent out another pokemon before the Venusaur used a Vinewhip in my direction. There was nothing that could be done. He said to me that it has been barely a month since he started. There is no way he would be able to do anything against that pokemon. But then he jumped in the way and was sent flying. ¡°FLAMETHROWER!¡± I heard him shout as he was sent flying out of the stage. Blaze used the move and stopped the Venusaur for a few moments. Enough for me to get back into the rhythm of the music. I saw two Vinewhips coming my direction again but I heard him again. ¡°Dragonbreath!¡± He shouted as he ran past me. He had a piece of metal in his hand that he used to deflect the attack enough that it didn¡¯t hit me or Sunny. The music continued. I did my best to not get too distracted. He was crazy, he would defend me, right? I didn¡¯t see how the battle continued for a few moments but then the Venusaur was running in my direction. I was about to begin panicking when he let out his Mankey. ¡°Low Kick!¡± He commanded his Mankey. The attack was perfectly timed, it made the Venusaur trip and flip. Shame it didn¡¯t stop him one bit and now he was flying in our direction. Me and Sunny were in the middle of a particular difficult part of the music so we couldn¡¯t stop what we were doing. We were going to be slammed by that thing. When the Venusaur hit the highest point, I heard the cry of a Pidgey and a strong gust of wind, like a tornado, engulfed me. The Venusaur was sent flying back towards his trainer that had to take him back into the pokeball. During the next few seconds I did my best, without fear of retaliation. I signaled Sunny to begin to use her various spore moves as she danced with me so we would look more beautiful. We trained enough to not get hit, at least for this song. As I danced I saw him with that crazy smile of his. It became wider as the old man sent the Venusaur out again. ¡°Bolt! Fake out!¡± He shouted, sending Bolt out, who quickly flinched the Venusaur again. This time, it didn¡¯t seem like he was going to be switched. A minute to go. Time for the finale. He joined the battle and began to dodge various Vine Whips that were going in his direction or the direction of Bolt. I think that the old man saw that it would be a losing bet going after me. Shame that now Humura was trying to attack the girl with Thundershocks and had to focus on the defense a little. As the music reached the final part, Sunny used Sunny Day to clear the skies and make us seem shinier. I saw Himura returning Bolt and sending Blaze out. As the music was reaching the end, I could see that his battle was also coming to a close. The Venusaur charged energy in his big flower and launched it in my direction. He and Blaze stood in front of me. ¡°You can do it!¡± I don¡¯t know why I said but he had this manic grin of someone who was about to do something stupid. The music was coming to an end so their clash, whatever it was, would finish with the music. ¡°Blaze. Fire Blast! Full Power!¡± He shouted as I saw Blaze be engulfed in a strange fiery aura. A fire in the shape of the ¡®´ó ¡® symbol shot out and collided with what was clearly A Solarbeam. For a moment they were both strangely equal in power but the Venusaur suddenly froze in place. ¡°Now!¡± He shouted again. Blaze put even more power into his attack and his fire overpowered the solarbeam. The Venusaur was consumed by flames and clearly fainted. Soon after I heard the signal that it was over. I could finally hear the audience and they were cheering very loudly. ¡°I don¡¯t think anyone here will go against this decision. Ann, congratulations. Your iron will and technique captivated everyone here. We present you this ribbon as a show that you won this contest of the normal level.¡± Lisia said as she suddenly jumped on the stage and handed the ribbon to me. Everyone began to clap for me and I guess for Himura too. I made sure to smile and wave to everyone. ¡°Well, I guess I can take my leave now.¡± Himura said smiling, before promptly losing consciousness along with Blaze and falling to the ground. ¡°Help!¡± I said as they fell on the ground. Lisia ¡°So, how is he and his pokemon?¡± I asked the girl named Ann. ¡°Alive. Very hurt but alive.¡± She said, somewhat angry. ¡°Well, you don¡¯t see what he did every day. Especially with someone dancing for him.¡± I tease her a little. ¡°He is crazy! A battle junkie! Do you know the first thing he did after waking up?¡± ¡°No.¡± ¡°He began to celebrate that he defeated a fully evolved pokemon with all his pokemon and then to say that next time he would make them strong enough to take an opponent at that level alone. The Joy and the doctor had a few very strong choice of words when they saw the scene.¡± ¡°So, how long is he going to stay there?¡± ¡°Until tomorrow. They all just have a lot of bruises, things easily healed in a day. He also wants to go to Pewter to challenge the gym there.¡± ¡°Getting his second badge?¡± ¡°First. It seems like the gym here is very strange and he isn¡¯t strong enough to challenge it.¡± ¡°If that boy doesn¡¯t have a single badge, I shudder to think how strong he will be when he gets a few.¡± ¡°He will probably hunt a legendary pokemon or something to fight.¡± ¡°Anyway. Sorry for holding you up. I hope to see you in a conference one day. You have potential.¡± ¡°...Thanks. I will try my best.¡± She earnestly said to me before going back into the pokecenter. After returning to my hotel I picked my phone and called the one who put me to this. ¡°Hello, uncle? What did you send me to watch?¡± I asked my uncle Wallace. ¡°Oh my dear Niece. So, how is this boy everyone is talking about?¡± ¡°Sincerely? He is a beast and his pokemon are not behind. But for someone like him, someone else should have been sent. I don¡¯t think he is someone I will be able to monitor that closely.¡± ¡°Well, you are the only person I trust enough for something like this that was available.¡± ¡°What is so special about him?¡± ¡°It¡¯s not something I should actually tell you over the phone. I will send an explanation via text so it can be properly explained. But as for things I can tell over the phone, the first is that he is from Hoenn. My good friend Steven actually knew the kid and when he found out what happened, it became something important for our region.¡± ¡°He knows Uncle Steven too?¡± ¡°Well, Steven knows him, they are from the same city and he constantly visits the schools there. The father of the kid used to work for Devon too. Look, a lot of important people need an eye on the kid and I trust you enough to do it.¡± ¡°I have a kid of my own to look after, you know?¡± ¡°Treat this as a vocation then. Go see Kanto, this time not as an entertainer but as a person.¡± ¡°But¡¡± ¡°Good bye. Have a good vacation.¡± He said laughing as he finished the call. What did I get myself into? Towards Pewter City Himura ¡°Finally I can see the sun.¡± I say as I walk outside the pokecenter. ¡°Shouldn¡¯t you be resting more?¡± Ann asked me, clearly worried. ¡°It was just a few light bruises. My clothes didn¡¯t even rip or anything. There isn¡¯t even a mark. All of you are too worried about things.¡± ¡°First, your clothes are too high quality. How did you even have money for something like that? Second, you were sent flying hard enough to break a few pipes. I wasn¡¯t just a light bruise.¡± ¡°Really bad pipes.¡± ¡°Well, whatever! We are going to Pewter, right?¡± ¡°Yeah.¡± ¡°Luckily the next contest will also be there.¡± ¡°...So, how does it feel to be so good that they didn¡¯t even make you participate in the last stage?¡± ¡°Ah! Stop it! We will be superstars. It was natural.¡± She said, clearly flustered. ¡°Well, you were in the news for a while yesterday, probably today too, more than the higher ranked contestants. Didn¡¯t know that spores could be controlled like that.¡± I said, clearly surprised. Didn¡¯t think an Oddish of all pokemon could be able to have that amount of control over spores. ¡°It was more like letting it fall where we wanted. We practiced that dance a lot.¡± ¡°Still, plenty of pokemon can control elements. It would be really cool if your Sunny could control her spores freely.¡± ¡°I might look into that.¡± ¡°It also helped me see that there might be a way to customize my pokemon moves. Blaze and Bolt seem to be able to slightly curve some of their moves so maybe one day we can freely use that.¡± ¡°...Let¡¯s go.¡± She suddenly said, somewhat irritated. We quickly moved towards Viridian Forest. A ranger said to us that a bunch of pokemon were fighting over territory so we had to take the long way around the forest. He even gave us a map of the route. We could break through all the fighting but it would put a lot of people in danger. We walked all day, occasionally letting our pokemon out to walk or fight a wild pokemon that attacked us. Ann¡¯s strategy was stalling. Poison a pokemon and wait. She clearly didn¡¯t like to battle but she knew that it was a necessary skill so she did a little when possible. I was hoping to find a Scyther but the ones found in the forest at the moment were the kind that would butcher me before I could do anything. When night arrived we had to make a small camp. As we let the food cook, she started to talk with me. ¡°Himura. Why don¡¯t you have a Rotom phone? At first I thought that it was because you didn¡¯t have money but that doesn¡¯t seem to be the case. You even have an old pokedex.¡± ¡°I don¡¯t like the idea of my things being hostage to a pokemon that may get fed up with me and is able to take all my data. if your Rotom left your phone right now you would only be able to make emergency calls and lose access to everything else. Also, this pokedex is brand new. It just looks like an old one because I asked for it.¡± ¡°I didn¡¯t know you could ask for pokedexes.¡± ¡°If you ask the regional professor he certainly would be able to get you one. It¡¯s not like they are hard to make or anything. Now you might have to pay a little but since I asked for this even before I left for my journey they got it for free for me.¡± ¡°Never asked where you came from.¡± ¡°I am originally from Hoenn but I moved here to Kanto about 2 years ago. My house is in Pallet.¡± ¡°Wow. I never even left my home city until recently. How different is Hoenn from here?¡± ¡°Can¡¯t really say. Before moving I also was stuck in my home city. But if I had to say something, there is more nature here in Kanto. In Hoenn there is a good balance but I feel like Kanto is more wild.¡± ¡°Hmm¡ Do you think that we will find that Raichu?¡± ¡°Probably not. Whatever is happening in the middle of the forest is too much for a single pokemon no matter how strong he is.¡± ¡°What makes you say that?¡± ¡°No matter how much we walk I can always see pokemon fleeing the center of the forest. Even now a few more nocturnal pokemon are moving. There is a big fight happening.¡± ¡°...Then let''s sleep early. I want to get out of here as fast as possible.¡± After everyone ate we quickly went to our tents and slept. All our pokemon were out of their pokeballs because if anything was coming our way, they would sense it way earlier than us. Morning came and we ate a very rushed breakfast. You could feel the danger in the air and we didn¡¯t want to be in that forest a moment more than necessary. Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. Once everything was packed we pretty much ran towards the exit of the forest. After a few minutes we just walked fast since running would be worse for us. Every once in a while we would hear strange rumblings in the forest followed by a considerable amount of pokemon running away. It was mostly weak pokemon but way more than you would expect to see at one point. After walking for about 4 hours we finally reached the edge of the forest, so much that Valkyrie could see Pewter in the distance once she flew above the clouds. As we approached the end of the trail that led to the city a group of people stopped us. ¡°If you want to pass you need to pay the toll!¡± A man that looked like he was part of a biker gang said to us, trying to be menacing. He didn¡¯t look to be much older than 18 and everyone following him were clearly minors, from 13 to 15 at most, all dressed like him for some reason. ¡°In case you didn¡¯t notice, there is something really bad happening in the forest and everyone needs to leave.¡± I said. ¡°Not my problem! Now, money or go back!¡± ¡°...Let¡¯s just go around them.¡± I said to Ann and began to walk towards the western edge of the forest. ¡°Not so fast! If you are trying to bypass us we will have to show you who is the boss here!¡± He said as he and what were clearly his minions sent out their pokemons. There were 5 of them and a total of 2 Ekans, 1 Raticate, 1 Zubat and 1 Magnemite. The leader was the one with the Magnemite. I used my ability to see what I was dealing with and almost began to laugh from what I got from it. These pokemon not only were weak but badly trained. Their stats were below the ¡®normal¡¯. ¡°Himura, we should¡¡± Ann tried to say something but I stopped her. ¡°Ok, here is the thing. You let us pass and I don¡¯t give all of you the ass whooping of a lifetime.¡± ¡°Big talk for a small kid!¡± The leader of the strange group said back. ¡°Guess that is your answer. You are making my friend here very uncomfortable so I will at least try to be quick.¡± I said as I let out the rest of my pokemon. Ann Arceus, may you forgive these poor souls because he will not. Let me hide behind a tree to give him a little more space. ¡°Look, he thinks he can do something¡¡± The leader tried to say something but was cut by Himura. ¡°Let¡¯s fuck them up! Flame Burst, Magnemite! Gust on the Ekans! Surprise and Nuzzle on the Zubat! Kick the Raticate!¡± Himura quickly commanded his pokemon. As he commanded, a burst of fire hit the Magnemite and splashed on everyone near it, even the trainers. Following that Valkyrie created a gust of wind that sent the two Ekans flying towards a tree. Bolt suddenly appeared above the Zubat and shocked it to the ground. Asura just bulldozed through everyone and kicked the Raticate so hard it was knocked out instantly. I could see that the strange group was taken by surprise but before they could even issue a command to their pokemon Himura jumped on their leader and began to pummel him. He of course tried to do something but a single punch in the chest wasn¡¯t enough to make Himura stop, especially not something so weak. Once their leader was out cold, Himura stood up with a bloody grin on his face. ¡°Who ''s next?¡± he asked. They all quickly retrieved their pokemon that were still being trashed by Himura¡¯s pokemon and began to run towards Pewter. ¡°Well, that was disappointing. You can return now.¡± Himura said as he stored everyone except Blaze on their pokeballs. I quickly left my hiding spot and went near him. ¡°What are you going to do now?¡± I asked, pointing at the fainted Magnemite and it¡¯s trainer. ¡°First we put the poor pokemon in his pokeball. Then I have some rope to tie this idiot and bring him with us.¡± ¡°Need help?¡± I ask because he still looks to be in ¡®battle¡¯ mode. ¡°...No need.¡± He said after taking a minute to calm down. As he said he took one of the pokeballs the man had and retrieved the Magnemite. It looks like he had other pokemon too. Himura also tied the man with a rope and began to drag him as we walked towards the city. It took us another hour of walking to reach the city. The man didn¡¯t wake up a single time during the trip so I was starting to worry about it. ¡°Hey, did you kill him?¡± I asked, looking at the unconscious man. ¡°No. If he was dead I would have left his corpse in the forest.¡± He said it like it was the most normal thing. ¡°...Alright.¡± I quickly followed him in silence until we were in the city proper and he pulled his phone. A few minutes later two police officers arrived on bikes. ¡°Was it you who called?¡± The first one asked me. ¡°No, it was him.¡± I said, pointing to Himura. ¡°And the knocked out man?¡± The second officer asked. ¡°Like I said on the phone, he tried to extort us as we were leaving the forest, then he attacked us when we didn¡¯t so I defended myself. He had a group with him but they all ran away.¡± ¡°Hey, do you think it is that stupid gang?¡± The second officer asked the first. ¡°Probably. Clothes match.¡± The first one answered. ¡°Kind of weak for a gang.¡± Himura added. ¡°Well kid. We will take him to the station and if anything happens we will call you back. Unless you are leaving the city right now, then you have to come with us.¡± ¡°We will be staying here for at least two weeks.¡± I say. ¡°What she said.¡± Himura confirms. ¡°Himura, from Pallet, this id, right?¡± The first officer asked as she showed a number on his phone. ¡°Yeah.¡± ¡°Alright, until next time.¡± ¡°Bye.¡± ¡°Bye.¡± I say as the officers leave with the knocked out man. We take a few minutes to walk to the pokecenter. Once there, while our pokemon are being checked I begin to talk with Himura. ¡°I passed through here and didn¡¯t see any signs of gangs.¡± ¡°Stayed in the city for how long?¡± ¡°A few hours at max.¡± ¡°Probably not long enough to see something out of normal. The city is big enough.¡± ¡°You might be right¡¡± We spend a few minutes in silence and I see that Himura is thinking very hard about something. ¡°What is on your mind?¡± ¡°What do you think would be harder? Challenging the Gym or the gang, if they exist.¡± He asked me with a straight face. I know he will do both if possible. Please let there be no gangs, I need to stick with him for a while so that Raichu doesn¡¯t hunt me down. ¡°The gang.¡± I say, hoping that he will take time to challenge them. I want some peace at least until we are leaving. I need to make poffins and find a berry mixer to make pokeblocks, mine are running out. ¡°...Ok, thanks.¡± He said as he got back to thinking about something. Yep, he is going to fight them if he finds them. Why out of all people I had to be stuck with a battle junkie? The First Gym Challenge Himura ¡°I¡¯m here to challenge the gym.¡± I said to the receptionist of the gym. Pretty much every gym everywhere was now as big as a small football stadium so there was a great need of staff everywhere for a lot of stuff. ¡°Would you like an immediate challenge or can I book you for a more public match?¡± The receptionist asked me. ¡°Any difference between them?¡± ¡°If enough people come to watch you might get a bonus if you win. Also, if enough people come to watch the match, even if you lose, it will not count towards your free tries.¡± ¡°What does she mean?¡± Ann asked me. ¡°It takes money to run a gym, especially ones this big, so as a challenger I have a limited number of free tries I can use to beat a gym before I have to put some money in the line myself. The current number they reached this year was 2, right?¡± ¡°Those only count towards the actual fight against the gym leader, anything before that still is just an official match that works normally.¡± ¡°I understand.¡± Ann said. ¡°Well, I guess you can book me for a more public match, as long as I don¡¯t have to wait a week for it.¡± ¡°We have a good crowd for tomorrow. Quite a lot of challenges, not a problem to add to you.¡± ¡°Time?¡± ¡°Just after noon.¡± ¡°Alright.¡± ¡°Fill this please.¡± The receptionist said as she handed me a tablet. It was just basic information so the gym could be prepared. Things like my trainer ID, number of badges, how much money I would bet on the fights, etc¡ I quickly filled it and left. Not much to do there after that. ¡°What are your plans for now?¡± ¡°Doing nothing, maybe watch you train? You yourself have to prepare and I am completely lost on what I should do if I ever enter a contest.¡± ¡°I¡Yes. Sparkly needs her training.¡± Ann said to me. It looks like she was going to say something else but chose not to. Following that we went back to the pokecenter where she began to teach the basics of dancing to her Pichu. Most things about following the rhythm and flow of the music. I made my pokemon at least hear what she was saying but only Valkyrie really paid some attention to it, mostly singing along to any music Ann used. I somehow know that being an entertainer needs you to practice a lot so when it turns out she trained all day, I wasn¡¯t surprised. I also did make food for us and our pokemon but I didn¡¯t receive much feedback for that. I can make what is necessary for my own but I had to guess what her pokemon would actually need. Night came and went, and after breakfast we went to the Gym. Fights started at 9 in the morning and there was a good amount of people there from the start. As a challenger I got a free seat for me and one companion so Ann didn¡¯t have to pay anything. There we watched the other challengers. To fight the gym leader you had to pass two preliminary stages, at least here. The first one was simply a race against the gym trainers to see who could get a few specific rocks scattered around the area. The terrain was quite literally in a platform that could be exchanged with the default rocky arena of the gym. Unlike what I could remember from any form of media, instead of just the arena part of the ground changing, it was the entire floor. What I could only classify as a light sandstorm also raged on the area once it changed. The terrain itself was really rocky terrain. Almost no flat ground and all the same color, a strange gray/brown of rocks, dirt and sand. At least the rocks you had to find were very colorful. You also couldn¡¯t use your pokemon for this part. The amount of rocks scattered around was based on the number of badges you had. The first guy didn¡¯t have any like me so there was a single rock somewhere that would be quite visible once he was allowed to leave the starting area along with just a single gym trainer to compete against him. Seeing how the gym trainer looked to be at maximum a year older than me and the challenger someone who was at least 15 years old, the gym trainers might be selected randomly to some extent. The challenge soon began and the older teenager ran towards the rock and in a matter of minutes he managed to get it. It was on the ground, luckily, so he didn¡¯t need to climb anything. After that part was over the area was back to its normal state and Brock appeared. He explained that since he got all the rocks available he could skip battling the gym trainer if he so wished. The guy didn¡¯t skip the fight. The gym trainer sent a Geodude out while the challenger sent a Psyduck out. I could see that the Psyduck was at least 50% stronger than the geodude in terms of stats. The Psyduck used a water gun on the Geodude, I could just see the battle ending right there but the geodude exploded, taking out the Psyduck with it. The gym trainer then sent a Sandshew but the challenger didn¡¯t send anything out, he didn¡¯t have any other pokemon. so he lost by default. Brook gave a speech about how a trainer shouldn¡¯t become complacent and be ready for anything in a battle, especially a gym battle. Everybody could have access to a pokedex now so being taken by surprise by a pokemon that they had no reason to lose against was not something he would allow someone who could challenge him do more than once. After that a lot of challengers came and went. A total of 10 people took the challenge before it was time for lunch and only one won, a guy who already had 3 badges that clearly had experience. He was in mid twenties at least and had pokemon from a lot of other regions. He was using the gym to train his pokemon so he fought everyone he could and just defeated the gym with what I think was his ace pokemon, a Flygon that was clearly way stronger than 3 badges would suggest. ¡°Are you going to fight the gym trainer?¡± Ann asked me as we ate our lunch inside the waiting room of the gym. My pokemon were in stasis mode so they didn''t eat yet, not that they needed it or I would allow it, they would battle after all. Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. ¡°No. They are not worth the waste of energy. Their pokemon are basically weak wild pokemon and not something that would be a serious challenge to me.¡± ¡°Well, you can still not find the rock.¡± ¡°Unless that guy that looks to be Brock¡¯s younger sibling is the one I had to race against, I don¡¯t think anyone would be faster than me as far as I saw.¡± ¡°Well, good luck anyway.¡± After that she left me there and went back to the stands to watch my battle that would be happening in some minutes. ¡°It¡¯s your turn, just follow the corridor.¡± A member of the staff said to me when the time came. My fight was luckily, or unluckily, one of the fights with more people watching as it was the first one just after lunch. A lot of people had leftovers they took to the stands to watch battles. The first challenge was quite easy, once I got out of the corridor it began and I could see the rock shining by just walking a few meters forward. In less than a minute I managed to get it. ¡°Challenge over! So, would you like to battle the gym trainer?¡± Brock asked. ¡°No.¡± I answered. ¡°Ok. Just a moment so the arena is put back together.¡± We moved back to the corridor and as soon as the arena was ready we took our positions. ¡°This is a challenger with 0 badges. The Gym leader will be using two pokemon of appropriate strength. No items can be used on the pokemon by their trainers during this battle unless it is an emergency and/or the pokemon already fainted. The challenger can use as many pokemon as he wishes. Switches are free.¡± The referee explained. ¡°Geodude, go!¡± Brock said as he threw his pokeball. ¡°Bolt, your turn!¡± I said as I sent out my pokemon. ¡°Bold of you to use an electric pokemon in my gym.¡± Brock said, not as arrogantly as it might have sounded. ¡°Bold of you to assume that Bolt is any electric pokemon.¡± I said with a smile on my face. Bolt was also ready to throw down. Ann Again, he is like that again. He has a Mankey for Arceus sake. Just use it and be done with it. I bet nobody noticed how he changed. He has that manic grin on his face. ¡°Begin!¡± The referee said. ¡°Geodude, use mud-slap!¡± Brock said, commanding his pokemon. ¡°Fake out! Where I told you!¡± Himura shouted. Bolt suddenly dashed forward and slapped his hands in front of the Geodude, flinching it. ¡°Mud-Slap!¡± Brock commanded again. ¡°Nasty Plot!¡± Himura said. The Geodude suddenly didn¡¯t move, he was paralyzed. I don¡¯t think there is a single person that knows what just happened for sure. Static might have triggered but Himura is acting like this was expected. ¡°Show some guts Geodude! Mud-Slap!¡± This time it looked like the Geodude would be able to attack, but only looked like it. ¡°Disarming Voice!¡± Himura commanded, Bolt used the move and shouted and the Geodude got knocked out by the attack. ¡°Geodude has fainted!¡± The referee said. ¡°Ok, I wasn¡¯t expecting this to happen. I am impressed.¡± Brock said as he returned Geodude to his pokeball. ¡°Thank you, but I still have one more to knock out, right?¡± Himura said, signaling for Bolt to return to him but stay in battle.. ¡°Let¡¯s see if you can deal with this one. Go Onyx!¡± Once the giant rock snake was out, Himura stood still for a second and then his aura changed. A few people noticed it, I know the Gym leader did, his happy go lucky face went away and this was way more serious than a fight for the first badge should have been. Am I going crazy if I can tell what is going on just because I spent a few days with Himura? ¡°Tunnel down!¡± Brock commanded and the Onyx dug into the ground, vanishing completely. Just as it did, Himura returned Bolt to his pokeball and sent out Valkyrie. ¡°Flying will not save you!¡± Brock said once he saw the Pidgey flying above the ground. ¡°Ride the Wind!¡± Himura shouted as Valkyrie began to use Whirlwind and Gust at the same time. I saw him training this combination a few times but I could never understand what was the point until now. Once the Onyx got out of the ground it headed straight for the flying pokemon but she simply allowed the stupid strong wind she created launch her in another direction. ¡°Rock Slide!¡± Brock shouted and a few rocks began to appear around Onyx. ¡°Phase 2! Give it all you got!¡± Himura said and suddenly Valkyrie began to speed up. I saw the glow of Quick Attack but unlike the attack, it didn¡¯t disappear after a moment. As rock began to fly towards Valkyrie, she was speeding more and more. Wind was blowing and in a matter of seconds a small tornado appeared in the arena. Using the wind, the little Pidgey was hitting the Onyx from every direction faster than it should be possible.Little by little damage was being dealt and nothing the Onyx could do was able to hit the flying bird. Brock suddenly shouted something and after the Onyx took a few more hits it bursted with energy, dispersing the tornado and knocking Valkyrie to the ground. My pokedex app said that it was the move Bide if it wasn¡¯t used directly against another target. I think that is the only reason why the bird didn¡¯t faint. Himura returned the girl to her pokeball and sent Bolt out again. ¡°Rock Polish!¡± Brock shouted. ¡°Fake out!¡± Himura shouted. Bolt ran as fast as he could towards the giant rock snake but he didn¡¯t manage to flinch it before it could use the move. ¡°Your little strategy will not work again. Rock Slide!¡± Brock said and a bunch of rocks began to appear around Onyx. ¡°Bolt! Now you will learn a new move or get knocked out trying. Run where I tell you to and don¡¯t stop for a moment!¡± Himura shouted and I almost lost it. The idiot is using this fight to train his pokemon, his electric pokemon, why!? ¡°Pichu!¡± The adorable little rat said with confidence. As the rocks began to fall Himura was shouting directions and the Pichu was surprisingly able to dodge the rocks following said directions. The cascade of rocks continued for several seconds, with Brock commanding his Onyx to continue, as if this was a challenge to him. But after nothing came of it he went for the kill. He commanded the Onyx to dig. ¡°Don¡¯t stop moving, follow him!¡± Himura shouted and Bolt followed Onyx in the hole he dug. For several seconds everyone held their breath as you could only barely hear the rock snake move underground. Suddenly, the Onyx emerged from the ground and behind it followed Bolt. Ann could see that it was almost at its limit. It was moving around non stop for a while now. ¡°Earthquake!¡± Brock shouted. ¡°Bolt! You are fast enough! Hit him with all that speed! You can do it!¡± Himura shouted and the yellow rat sped up. An white aura enveloped it and it rocketed toward Onyx''s head, as if he was flying. Once he hit, everyone could see that he got paralyzed as he stopped midway as he was trying to slam his tail on the ground. Bolt fell on the ground, puffing really hard but not really knocked out. ¡°That is enough. Just keep this feeling in mind for now. Your turn partner.¡± Himura said, returning Bolt and sending out Blaze. ¡°I am feeling a little disrespected here.¡± Brock said, pointing at the Charmander. ¡°Not my problem. Blaze, Fire Blast!¡± ¡°What!? Onyx, Rock Throw!¡± Luckily the paralysis didn¡¯t stop the Onyx but it delayed it enough that it couldn¡¯t use the move at full power. It blocked the flame, even sending some debris around. ¡°Earthquake!¡± Brock said, but it was too late. ¡°Rocket upper!¡± Himura shouted. Blaze was now just below Onyx. Using Flamethrower he rocketed himself up while his claws shined and scratched the Onyx from the middle of its body all the way to its head. By the time Blaze got back into the ground, Himura was there to grab him. ¡°The Gym leader is out of pokemon, the winner is Himura!¡± The referee shouted. Suddenly almost everyone began to applaud the battle. Did I miss something? They didn¡¯t do it for any fight before this one. Bad Idea Himura (03/03) ¡°Congratulations, I have to say I am impressed.¡± Brock said to me as he walked across the battlefield. ¡°Thanks, the extra money will be useful.¡± I said, grinning. ¡°What do you mean?¡± ¡°That Onyx wasn¡¯t one the same level of the one you used against the other trainers before. My guess is that he is the one you use against people with two or three badges.¡± ¡°How did you figure it out?¡± Brock said to me, coming clean. ¡°A lot of people around here think that I did something incredible and it is kind of obvious that the Onyx was way stronger than the geodude, like, comically so.¡± ¡°Please don¡¯t tell the association, you will be paid.¡± ¡°Ok. But please don¡¯t do it again, my pokemon could have gotten really hurt.¡± That Onyx was slower than normal, that was the only reason I could somewhat fight against it. If he was just a little faster every pokemon I used would have fainted. ¡°Alright everyone. A last round of applause for Himura. He has it in him, keep an eye out.¡± Block said to the crowd before we both left the arena. In the waiting room he gave me my badge. We both knew that I couldn¡¯t wait until the next break to give the badges like he did with the ones that were battling in the morning. ¡°Thanks. I am just a little curious about something. Do the badges do something or are they just a symbol?¡± I asked because there wasn¡¯t much information on badges that I could find. ¡°Well, they emit some energy that will affect your pokemon. Mine makes your pokemon a little tougher physically and also shows that you are somewhat strong to pokemon.¡± ¡°Cool.¡± ¡°Still, didn¡¯t expect your strategy to be using all your pokemon.¡± ¡°Were that all your pokemon?¡± A man asked after he left the bathroom in the waiting room. He is one of those stupid bikers that were blocking the way out of the forest. ¡°Yeah. I had to get really creative since I had barely nothing that would give me an advantage against ground and rock pokemon.¡± I lied to him. ¡°Good to know. Gym leader, I hope you are ready for me.¡± The man said. ¡°I am going to let you leave to take care of your pokemon. If you ever come to the museum/ research lab, look for me. There is a lot of nice stuff to see there.¡± ¡°I will. Thanks.¡± I said before leaving the room. Ann was waiting for me just outside the challenger¡¯s area. ¡°I guess you won. Congratulations!¡± Ann said confused and happily. ¡°Thanks, but now I need to go to the pokecenter.¡± ¡°No shit. You used an electric pokemon against two ground pokemon and a flying one against a rock pokemon.¡± ¡°They won and they knew what was going to happen.¡± ¡°I have to say, it was eye opening. I always thought that combining moves was something that only really experienced trainers but seeing you and your pokemon, I think I should have tried it before.¡± She said to me as we walked out of the gym. I also received a notification about money being deposited into my account. Looks like that was an Onyx for a third badge challenger. ¡°The problem is using it effectively. Especially with pokemon as young and weak as ours. It puts a lot of strain on them when they use it in a fight. Pretty sure Bolt and Valkyrie will be resting until tomorrow.¡± ¡°What about Blaze?¡± ¡°He just cleaned house. I can tell that he isn¡¯t really tired.¡± We walked to the pokecenter, talking about a few details of what we were planning but nothing big. Once there, the Nurse Joy checked my pokemon and after healing them she informed me that Bolt and Valkyrie shouldn¡¯t do anything until tomorrow. Blaze should rest until night. He was way more tired than he should, probably put all his power in the last attack. Can¡¯t fault him for that. Once I got my pokemon back I sat down with Ann outside, near a TV that was there for the people eating outside to watch, and we began to discuss what possible combinations she might be able to pull with her pokemon. The gym challenge was on the TV so if someone pull something worth of our attention we will see it. ¡°Ok, so¡ What exactly are you looking forward to?¡± I asked. ¡°Sunny knows how to control her spores but can¡¯t really use all of them at once. She might be able to control her Sweet Scent too.¡± ¡°What other moves does she know?¡± ¡°Absorb, Mega Drain, Synthesis, Sunny Day, Growth, Acid and Teeter Dance. The last move I was training with her was Leech Seed, I think she would be able to learn it in a few weeks.¡± ¡°Weeks?¡± ¡°I love Sunny but she isn¡¯t very intelligent in some aspects of life.¡± ¡°So she has difficulty learning new moves?¡± ¡°Yeah, well, unless it is something she can use her whole body, like dancing.¡± You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story. ¡°So she is good at dancing but doesn¡¯t know how to use energy that isn¡¯t directly making her use her body?¡± ¡°More or less that, I think.¡± ¡°Ok, so, you want my opinion on a possible combination or help in doing something you have in mind?¡± ¡°Well, besides using her various spores and powders at once, I am not sure what would be good to combine.¡± ¡°Growth and Synthesis, on the sun at least.¡± ¡°Why that?¡± ¡°Growth makes your pokemon bulk up a little and Synthesis makes you shine, especially if the sun is clear on the sky. Might get you some points in a contest or help you set up in a battle while also healing. Since she is healing herself it might not put as much of a strain on her as soon as she uses it but I can see it doing some delayed damage.¡± ¡°Any ideas on how to use Acid? She is part poison and not using poison moves might make me lose points in a contest.¡± ¡°For contest use? No idea. For a battle? Teeter Dance.¡± ¡°Why that?¡± ¡°If I saw a crazy plant dancing and spilling acid around I would get scared.¡± ¡°But she is so adorable!¡± ¡°Well, yes, but my point stands.¡± We stopped for a moment to see what was happening on the TV, a commotion was happening in the Gym. Brock was pissed. He took one look at a pokemon and sent his full team after the trainer. ¡°Call the cops before I kill this man! How dare he do this to his pokemon!¡± Brock shouted so loud that we could hear it from the TV. The camera went around to the pokemon, a Marill, and once I got a full view I also began to bubble with anger. The thing was beaten and malnourished. The worst part was that you had to really know about pokemon to see it. The Marill was just slightly deflated and somewhat more white than he needed to be. I find it surprising that Brock knew what was happening. ¡°What is wrong?¡± Ann asked me. I could see that she was a little afraid of me at that moment. ¡°That man was abusing his pokemon and it didn¡¯t even know it. It is really confused about everything that is happening, it is even trying to go back to its trainer.¡± ¡°Is that why you are so angry?¡± ¡°Of course! How can someone do that to their pokemon? It¡¯s one thing if that pokemon was out of control and nothing was working to get it under control but it is clear that the Marill liked its trainer! Don¡¯t people understand how lucky they are that a pokemon wants to be friends with them!¡± ¡°Himura, calm down, you are making a scene.¡± Ann said to me, flustered. ¡°Ah¡Sorry.¡± I said after taking a moment to see everyone around us looking at me. I sat down in silence for a few minutes and watched the TV. The cops showed up and arrested the man, not long after a gym trainer came with the Marill to the pokecenter. ¡°Well, good thing everything was resolved.¡± ¡°Yeah. Still, I¡¯m a little pissed off.¡± ¡°Try to enjoy your victory a little. I am going to think about what you said to me while I practice a little.¡± ¡°Mind if I watch?¡± ¡°A little late to ask permission now, ain¡¯t it?¡± ¡°If you say so.¡± Ann If Himura ever gets strong enough to do whatever he wants, I fear that pokemon abuse will be a thing of the past. How can he get so intense that people can feel it and he doesn¡¯t? Anyway, I need to practice. Going back to the basics, I make Sparkly and Sunny follow very basic dance moves. Steps, jumps, shuffling positions. A lot of people think that dancing involves a lot of complicated moves, it does, but mastering the basics of moving around at the rhythm of the music will help you way more than it is expected. Sparkly has it in her to dance but to use moves too is still ways away, specially while she is a Pichu. If she tries to use any electricity she will quickly lose control and I don¡¯t like to be shocked. As for the combinations, I think I will try Synthesis with Growth like Himura said. It was the safest one to get some training, especially because I don¡¯t want Sunny to miss her target with her spores until I know she might be able to use more than one move at a time. Until it was almost night, I practiced outside the pokecenter. A few people come to watch but it¡¯s mostly Himura. He let his pokemon out of their pokeballs from time to time, to either feed them or just enjoy the music, I think. He brought water, berries and wherever I asked too so I can¡¯t really complain. After taking a bath, because no decent girl would not take a bath after training, I returned to where Himura was. He made dinner for us and our pokemon. Some people were battling in the area near the pokecenter so we watched while we ate. As I was enjoying dessert, someone approached us. ¡°If ain¡¯t the little shit that put my brothers in jail!¡± A man in a biker uniform said. He looked like the ones that tried to block us from leaving the forest. ¡°Hey, you are the one from the Gym.¡± Himura said. ¡°Brock doesn¡¯t appreciate our style so we have to play the part. I got his badge too.¡± The biker said antagonistically. ¡°Good for you. Now leave me alone. I don¡¯t like what your group is doing but it¡¯s not my place to do anything about it.¡± ¡°Well, shame, because it is my duty to kick you down for what my brothers and sister are passing through.¡± The biker said. A group of other people, mostly people younger than him, appeared. A lot of people in the pokecenter fled. ¡°Man! We are at a pokecenter!¡± Himura shouted. ¡°We are leaving the town anyway. Not like we care.¡± ¡°Ann, you should leave.¡± Himura said to me. I just nodded and left as fast as I could. ¡°Not so fast! Your little girlfriend also needs to be punished.¡± The biker said. ¡°She isn¡¯t my girlfriend and you will not touch one hair of her head.¡± Himura said very intensely. ¡°Look at him! He thinks he can do something. Sandslash, cut!¡± The biker said, releasing his pokemon. ¡°Shit! Asura, Low Sweep!¡± Himura said as he jumped back, protecting me. Asura managed to make the Sandslash trip and miss us. I took that moment to leave since everyone got stunned for a moment. Once I turned around the building I got my phone and called the police while keeping an eye on the situation. ¡°Not bad kid. Now, how will you deal with the rest of us?¡± The biker said and everyone behind him sent out their pokemon. I could count 11. Various projectiles flew in his and Asura¡¯s direction, he quickly moved out of the way, towards the battling area. ¡°Shit!¡± I heard Himura say as he stared at a group of pokemon and began to take a pokeball out of his belt. ¡°Not so fast. You had another pokemon and didn¡¯t say it so you can¡¯t use others.¡± The biker leader said as a Sneasel appeared with a pokemon in its hand and gave it to him. ¡°Look, a Pidgey.¡± ¡°Give her back!¡± Himura shouted. ¡°Come and take it.¡± ¡°I said give her back!¡± Himura said more intensely as he walked towards the leader. I looked at my phone and the cops were already coming. I hope they arrive fast. ¡°I SAID GIVE HER BACK!¡± Himura shouted as he began to run towards the bike leader. Asura followed him. Various attacks went into his direction, he simply took those and passed the pokemon when the smoke was up. As it went down I saw Valkyrie being kicked towards Himura. ¡°Your pokemon are shit! Look at it! Couldn¡¯t even move after it was out of the pokeball. HAHAHA!¡± The biker said and began to laugh but then something changed. I felt cold down my spine, it was like everything went silent for a moment. I managed to get a glimpse of Himura¡¯s eyes and all I could see was fury. After Inferno Dennis(Biker/Gang Leader) I had what most considered an easy life. My family had money, I had a good education, I never felt unsafe but the one thing I never had was a pokemon of my own. At least until the end of last year. My family always thought that going on a journey and catching a pokemon for no reason was stupid and never let him have his own pokemon, they didn¡¯t have one either. They always said to him that he could do lots of things without pokemon, his father was an accountant and he was studying to follow him. But then, last year, just after his 19th anniversary, his family decided to go on vacation without him to Alola and when they returned they had pokemon of their own. They also began to tell him how great it was to have pokemon. He felt betrayed. All his childhood he couldn¡¯t have pokemon, even when he wanted it. He lost friends but he trusted that his family knew what they were saying, they were quite happy, but now that he wasted his youth they suddenly say that he should go on a little adventure. He was and still is very angry with them. He left his home behind in anger, bought a bike and traveled all the way from Johto to Kanto. Along the way he found Sneasel, a pokemon that was betrayed like he was, and they quickly formed a friendship. As he passed through Viridian City a few kids liked how he was rebelling against his family and decided to follow him. He quite liked having a group following him. During his trip from Johto, he and Sneasel understood that without strength you can¡¯t do anything. The weak have no place in the world for themselves, they are just allowed to be there. They would find powerful partners and challenge the gyms until they are stronger than the champions. When his group moved from Viridian to Pewter he found a Sandshrew outside of the town that took a liking to him and his group, he was also obsessed with getting stronger like him and Sneasel. As much as he wanted to just challenge the gyms, he had to train, he also took time to train his followers and anyone that went against them would get a good beating so they knew their place in the world. He was hoping to find a pokemon with potential too but everyone he beat up didn¡¯t have anything worth his time. Over the course of a few weeks his group growed a little and he was finally ready to challenge the gym, but then he heard that two kids sent his subordinates to jail for some stupid reason. He found out who they were and he was going to deal with them after he got his badge. If the cops have so much free time to go after his people he might as well leave so he doesn¡¯t waste his time with stupid people saying shit on his ear. Breaking out his subordinates wouldn¡¯t be hard, he had lots of pokemon to help with that. When he was at the gym he heard one of the kids say that he used all his pokemon in the challenge. Once he finished with his challenge he would go after him so he would know to not mess with his gang. He called everyone and they all went to the pokecenter, where the kid and his girlfriend were. He remembers confronting the kid, kicking his stupid bird that couldn¡¯t even free itself from his hand. After that all he remembered was pain. ¡°Finally up I see.¡± An officer Jenny said to him. It took a moment but as he looked around he saw that he was in a hospital. ¡°What?¡± He asked, trying to move but a cop and a doctor stopped him. ¡°Don¡¯t move, we barely saved your life.¡± The doctor said. ¡°What!?¡± ¡°Do you remember what happened before you came here?¡± Jenny asked. ¡°...That little shit! I am going to kill him!¡± I said angrily. Once again I was held onto the bed. ¡°Sorry but the only thing you will do after you heal will be going to jail.¡± ¡°Don¡¯t you have anything better to do? I beat a kid that wronged me a little and now I am going to jail, even if I am the one in the hospital?¡± ¡°Everything that happened is your fault and you will pay for it, one way or another.¡± ¡°What happened?¡± I asked, a little afraid. One of the cops turned on a TV in my room and I began to watch the news. ¡°Now, on local news! It has been two days since the Pokecenter Fire. The outside of the building is just now being restored. Focus was primarily on making sure that the inside was secure so it could treat the numerous pokemon that were hurt during a gang attack. The culprit along with all his accomplices are still in the hospital. Most are minors but the leader will be fully charged for allowing something like this to happen. The primary victim cannot be contacted anymore but the police says that there is more than enough evidence to prosecute everyone involved.¡± The news woman said. ¡°I don¡¯t have a fire pokemon. It wasn¡¯t me.¡± He calmly said. ¡°No, but you are the reason that that boy did all he did.¡± The cop said. ¡°So, just to be clear. You don¡¯t remember anything?¡± Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation. ¡°No, I don¡¯t! I didn¡¯t do anything that is being said on the news.¡± I angrily stated. ¡°Then we have nothing to talk about. For better or worse, I hope you recover faster than your pokemon or I don¡¯t think you will ever see them again.¡± Jenny explained. I didn¡¯t know what happened but I was going to find out. Ann ¡°Nothing yet?¡± I asked Jenny as we sat outside the pokecenter. ¡°We know that went to the pokecenter near Mount Moon but by the time we got the information he had already left and since he isn¡¯t exactly lost we can¡¯t ask people to look for him there.¡± Jenny explained to me. ¡°I¡Ok¡¡± ¡°I sorry I can¡¯t help more but I need you to confirm your story again. Dennis, the leader of that stupid gang, woke up and I need to confirm that you won¡¯t change your story. What happened is pretty serious.¡± ¡°Ok¡Where do I start?¡± ¡°Wherever you want.¡± ¡°...After we were cornered he grabbed everyone¡¯s attention and went to the empty space people use to battle near here. He tried to send out his Pidgey but a dark pokemon, a Sneasel, took the pokeball before he could. His Mankey was already out of the pokeball too. He then charged the group of pokemon that was after him, taking some damage, but once he got near enough I saw Valkyrie, the Pidgey, being kicked towards him and then¡And then¡¡± ¡°That¡¯s when he went berserk?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t like that word. He was angry but rational, I saw it.¡± ¡°You know that if almost everyone that is in the hospital didn¡¯t confess I would have to hunt your friend down, right?¡± ¡°But he didn¡¯t do anything on purpose.¡± ¡°...Please continue to explain what happened.¡± ¡°After that he put Valkyrie in another pokeball and sent out his Charmander and Pichu¡And began to try to murder everyone from that gang¡¡± ¡°What exactly did he do?¡± ¡°He¡He¡ His Charmander, Blaze, sent a giant fire that knocked out all the pokemon behind them. After that he went after the people. The Pichu discharged electricity on everyone and stunned them. The Mankey somehow managed to punch the Sneasel and Sandslash that were near the gang leader so hard they went flying to the group that was stunned. Himura jumped on the leader and began to pummel him. He must have hit something critical because it didn¡¯t look like he was being stopped in any way.¡± ¡°And the explosion?¡± ¡°A minute after that began, the Sneasel appeared on top of a bike and tried to hit Himura, hitting his Pichu on the way. Himura quickly returned the Pichu, made the Mankey stop the bike and kick it on top of the leader. At that point he seemed satisfied and began to leave but the Sandslash helped the leader up. He was really angry, I think his bike was broken, so he threw it on top of the fire that was dying down near the pokemon that got knocked out. It exploded, started the fire and Himura lost it, again, especially after the leader shouted that he didn¡¯t need weak pokemon. He charged the leader along with his pokemon, knocked him and his pokemon with a collective attack and after making Blaze burn all of them until he was out of energy, he returned all his pokemon and began to punch the leader in the face non-stop. I think it was a good five minutes before I could approach him due to the flames¡¡± ¡°What happened after?¡± ¡°I tried to stop him but he wasn¡¯t responding. When I tried to forcefully stop him he attacked me by accident but that made him stop. He looked around, saw everything that was happening and ran inside the pokecenter. I thought he was going to try to do something to help but as I found out later, he got all his stuff and just left the town.¡± ¡°How did you feel when he punched you?¡± ¡°...Afraid. He had this hate in him that you can only see from up close. I think I got paralyzed because of it because I don¡¯t remember anything until after the firefighters appeared.¡± ¡°...Well, thanks for helping. I really wish I could do something but sometimes your hands are tied. Good luck with your contest.¡± ¡°Thanks¡¡± I was lost. So much happened so fast. Part of me wants to look for him but I also want to participate in the contest. I need some time to think. Lisia ¡°Pick it up! Pick it up!¡± I said nervously as I walked around my hotel room and looked at my Rotom phone following me. ¡°Good evening, my dear niece! What do I owe this beautiful call?¡± My uncle Wallace said with all the glamor he always had. ¡°This is serious! I am trying to talk with you for at least a day now!¡± I said angrily. ¡°...Sorry about that. I was preoccupied.¡± He said to me, very seriously. ¡°And where is Uncle Steven! I need to talk with him too!¡± ¡°As a matter of fact, I was with him until not long ago. What happened?¡± ¡°See the video I just sent you.¡± I said as I sent the video in question to him. ¡°That isn¡¯t something you see everyday.¡± He said after watching the video. ¡°What did you send me to watch over? I am not going to let someone like him anywhere near my children! The video doesn¡¯t do justice to what happened. It was like confronting a Salamance alone.¡± ¡°Hello? Lisia? What happened?¡± Uncle Steven said as he joined the call. ¡°Who is that kid you two sent me to keep an eye on?¡± ¡°He was just a kid from Rustboro. What happened?¡± ¡°Watch the video Steven.¡± Wallace said, very seriously. ¡°When was this?¡± Steven asked. ¡°Two days ago.¡± I answered. ¡°...Wallace, do you think it was because of him?¡± ¡°It was the first thing that came to my mind but those two checked and they are still where they hid it.¡± ¡°What are you two talking about?¡± ¡°There were signs of Kyogre rampaging near an abandoned island two days ago. He was indeed there but quickly returned to the ocean. We thought that someone might have found the Blue Orb but that wasn¡¯t it.¡± ¡°It''s either the greatest coincidence in history or we are missing something. Also, he went missing about a day ago.¡± ¡°Anything else you can say about the kid¡¯s rampage?¡± Steven asked. ¡°Besides he being able to command his pokemon without talking and all of them suddenly having glowing red eyes? No.¡± ¡°...This might need a professional after all. Lisia, my dear. Keep an ear out for the boy but enjoy your vacation. Tell the little ones I said hi.¡± ¡°Sorry for not being able to talk more too. I need to meet with some people.¡± Steven saiu. ¡°You are the CEO of a company, don¡¯t forget.¡± ¡°I don¡¯t do much nowadays. Thanks anyway. Bye.¡± he said and with that both left the call. ¡°I am just going to enjoy and tour the contests here. Maybe that girl didn¡¯t follow after him. I wonder what she is doing¡¡± Contest Road Ann (13/03) ¡°Is she ready, Nurse Joy?¡± I asked Joy as Sparkly jumped on my arms. ¡°Yeah. The taste of her snack was just too strong for her. She discharged all her energy in panic when she began to faint. Resting for a few hours will be enough.¡± ¡°Thank you. I was beginning to panic thinking I wouldn¡¯t be able to take her to the contest tomorrow.¡± ¡°Just don¡¯t give her bad food again.¡± ¡°Sorry, I don¡¯t know the recipe that well.¡± Stupy Himura leaving and not explaining how he made things. ¡°Competing in which rank?¡± ¡°Super.¡± ¡°And you are so young. I might have to keep an eye on you.¡± ¡°Thanks.¡± I said blushing before going back to my room. I had to think things through very hard but I came to the realization that even if I liked to travel with Himura I can¡¯t drop everything for him, no matter what. If I ever find him again I will try to know what happened and even travel with him but my dreams will not take second place to him. She was extremely lucky that she managed to win her first contest. She was prepared to lose quite a lot. Unlike gym challenges, she would still earn money if she didn¡¯t win so she had a bigger safety net and didn¡¯t need to constantly win and focus on actually getting better. Ribbons were also universal for the most part. Once she reached Master Class, winning a single contest would be enough to classify her for a regional conference and even then she could compete in her current rank anywhere in the world as far as she knew. In terms of skill, she probably had a chance in the super rank but only with Sunny. Sparkly had the talent to learn enough to win a normal rank contest in little time but anything after that would require either time or some intense training. Well, let¡¯s rest, I have stuff to do tomorrow. ¡ª-- 14/03 ¡°Ladies and Gentleman. I welcome you to the contest hall of Pewter. Let ''s have fun!¡± The announcer said from the stage. It was a man in a suit and wearing dark glasses. There weren¡¯t any ultra or master rank contestants so there wouldn¡¯t be a separation on the ranks as far as presentations go. Everyone would go when they were called but the judges would make sure they were judging based on your rank. For the public, it might just seem like a big contest. The first round was a presentation, a dance where you had to use two or more pokemon. I only have two so it will have to do. One by one the people are being called, I choose to not stay in a waiting room with a TV so I don¡¯t see my competition. Let¡¯s just do the best I can. ¡°Ann, Sunny and Sparkly? You are next.¡± A staff member called. ¡°Let¡¯s go!¡± I say to my pokemon. ¡°Oddish!¡± ¡°Pi!¡± We walked onto the stage. For the first stage, it was expected that you would dress up. I was using my idol outfit but unlike a lot of other participants, I didn¡¯t do anything with my pokemon. They are too small and the dance we are going to do would make anything get in the way. ¡°Good morning. My name is Ann, these are my friends, Sunny and Sparkly. I hope you enjoy our little show.¡± I say, greeting the judges and the public. Soon, the music begins. A somewhat childish song about friendship. It had a simple rhythm and was the only available song that Sparkly trained to an acceptable degree. With me in the middle, we began to dance. Simple moves, going from one side to the other, clapping, a little lip syncing to look like we were singing, the music was of a band of 3 people, moving around the stage, a little bit of acrobatics too. Sunny couldn¡¯t really do much of that but Sparkly could jump surprisingly high and run around my body. There isn¡¯t anything saying that we couldn¡¯t use moves to spice the presentation but I choose to just show the coordination between me and my pokemon. No reason to do anything that might make Sparkly feel bad about it. Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. The music finished, Sparkly on top of my head and Sunny on my arms. I heard a good amount of applause, I hope it was enough at least for me to go to the second round. ¡°Great performance, a little nice show indeed. Now, just a few questions from the judges.¡± The announcer said. ¡°Hello. I would like to know about your outfit. How did you acquire it?¡± The first judge, a woman asked. This was a tricky question usually asked to people to see what type of contestant they were. ¡°I made it with the help of my mom.¡± I answered honestly. My mom still isn¡¯t really a fan of my doing this but she helped me with the outfit. ¡°How long have you been a trainer?¡± The second judge, a man, asked. ¡°Officially, 2 months, when I got my license but I had Sunny, my Oddish, since I was 6.¡± ¡°Thank you.¡± The man said. ¡°Lastly, me. And your little Pichu. How long are you two together?¡± The last judge asked, another woman. ¡°A month, more or less. Give or take a few days.¡± ¡°Alright. That will be everything, thanks.¡± The last judge said. I received a last round of applause and was sent back backstage. To say I was a pile of nerves would be an understatement. Just before it was lunch time they announced who qualified to the second stage. After taking a look at the tvs in the waiting room I found my photo there. After lunch I would participate in the second and last stage. Contest battles. I know I am not the best when it comes to straight battling but Sunny and I know more than enough to look good while not losing. Unless someone like Himura is on the other side, Sunny was never a battler so her strength is kind of hard to gauge. After a light lunch, people began to be called. The normal rank had 16 finalists and the super rank had 8. Once the number got equal, the battles would intercalate until the finals. After what felt like a long wait, it was my turn. ¡°Now, for the top 8 of the Super Rank, on my right side, Ann, from Saffron City and to my left, Carla, from Celadon City. The time limit is 5 minutes, if your score reaches 0 or your pokemon is unable to continue battling you lose, begin!¡± The announcer said. ¡°Spearow, I choose you.¡± My opponent said, sending out a Spearow. ¡°Sunny, I choose you.¡± I said, sending out Sunny. ¡°Sorry but I will try to make this quick. Spearow, Focus Energy.¡± Carla said as the Spearow got on the ground and began to focus, showing his ferocity. I saw my points go down a little but I didn¡¯t mind. ¡°Leech Seed.¡± I simply said and Sunny launched a seed that easily hit the Spearow, growing little vines around him. It wasn¡¯t going to stop him from moving but it was enough to make her opponent lose a few points. ¡°Peck! Quickly!¡± Carla said. Her Spearow flew and in a straight line, went straight to Sunny. ¡°Twirl, Poison Powder!¡± Sunny did as I commanded. Once the Spearow was close enough, she spun around a little and began to let her Poison Powder out. The Spearow went straight into her, the twirl reduced the damage enough, made her look good and helped the powder hit our opponent. He was now poisoned. A wave of healing also flew towards her, making her glow a little. Our opponent lost a lot of points in that exchange. ¡°I am not going to let that slide. Quick attack.¡± Carla said. ¡°Synthesis.¡± I quickly said. As the attack hit, Sunny healed and the last of my opponent¡¯s points went away once the poison kicked in again and the leech seed healed sunny. Seems like the judges are not really fans of straight battling. ¡°Battle is over. Winners are Ann and Sunny.¡± ¡°Oddish!¡± Sunny happily said. Carla was angry but congratulated me. We shook hands and went back to the waiting room. It took about a little less than 30 minutes until I was called again to battle. ¡°To my right side, Ann, from Saffron City, to my left, Marco, from Alola. Begin!.¡± ¡°Go Quagsire!¡± He said as he sent out his pokemon. I should look at his presentation later. He was using traditional Alolan clothes so I am curious what exactly he did. ¡°Go Sunny.¡± ¡°Ice Beam!¡± he calmly said. He didn¡¯t use it in his last fight, I was completely taken by surprise. ¡°Sunny, dodge!¡± I shouted but she wasn¡¯t fast enough.¡± ¡°Ice Punch!¡± He said after. Sunny barely didn¡¯t get knocked out but she got frozen. That Quagsire is way too fast. In his last fight he just shot mud shots onto his opponent, a very slow Krabby, so I didn''t expect it to be able to blitz Sunny. ¡°I surrender.¡± I said, stopping the fight. No reason to make Sunny take a beating she doesn¡¯t need. The staff handed me an Ice Heal to free her from the ice. After congratulating my opponent I leave and go to the pokecenter to have Sunny checked. ¡°Just saw you. Shame you lost. You should probably also change your clothes.¡± The Joy said as I gave her Sunny¡¯s pokeball. I am kind of in a panic so I didn¡¯t even notice that I was in my idol clothes. ¡°Thanks.¡± As I went to my room, I couldn¡¯t help but feel sad. Being ready to lose and losing are two different things, especially in something that I know I have no chance in. I had Sunny for years and she is weaker than Pokemon Himura had for less than a month. Battle strength is not something that is necessary anymore in contests as the vast majority of the competitions don¡¯t have battles, but she can¡¯t help but wonder if she should focus a little more on that¡ ¡ª- ??? (Someone, Somewhere) ¡°How many did we lose?¡± I asked. ¡°All of them.¡± My subordinate said. ¡°How did we lose everyone?¡± ¡°Readings say it was a Hunter.¡± ¡°There shouldn¡¯t be any more Hunters alive. Are you sure?¡± ¡°It is what the readings say.¡± ¡°...Did the mission at least succeed?¡± ¡°Yes. Things can proceed as planned.¡± ¡°Good, good. Showing our hand this early would be catastrophic. Tell everyone to keep an eyes out for this possible Hunter. I will be increasing our collection.¡± ¡°Yes, commander! ¡° Just Passing Through. Ann (16/03) ¡°Hey, why are there so many people here?¡± I ask a woman as I approach the pokecenter on the western side of Mt. Moon. There are at least 100 people just sitting around. ¡°The escort personnel are getting ready to guide people inside the mountain.¡± She explained. ¡°What happened?¡± ¡°Don¡¯t know myself. The Joy might know but it looks like you can¡¯t go through the mountain without the guides so I am waiting for them myself. I got here about an hour ago. ¡°Ok¡Thanks.¡± It took me a day of walking from Pewter to reach this place. I am starting to believe I should have taken the highway. It would have cost money but I feel like I could get stuck here for a while. ¡°Good morning. If you plan to go to Cerulean you should get ready to follow the group outside.¡± The Nurse Joy says to me as I enter the pokecenter. The place is strangely empty. ¡°Can you tell me what happened? Mt. Moon wasn¡¯t ever dangerous enough for it to need profissional escort.¡± ¡°Big wild pokemon fight collapsed a lot of tunnels. Rangers are working over the clock to fix stuff and allow people to have a mostly safe passage they can take on their own.¡± ¡°Is it that bad?¡± ¡°The mountain is quite literally in risk of collapsing on top of people if we don¡¯t take care.¡± ¡°Wow¡One last thing. Have you seen this boy?¡± I ask as I show a photo of Himura from my phone. ¡°Passed here about 2 weeks ago. Is he your friend? I remember the police asking about him too.¡± ¡°You can say that. Well, I am lucky enough that my pokemon don¡¯t need to be checked. I guess there is also no risk of wild pokemon attacks with the group, right?¡± ¡°The safe route they are using at the moment has no wild pokemon as far as I was informed.¡± ¡°Ok, thanks.¡± With that I left the pokecenter and went outside to wait for the rangers that would guide this giant group through the mountain. It took around 30 minutes for them to show. ¡°Alright, listen up! Mt. Moon is not safe at the moment and we will be taking you to the other side using an older tunnel. You are NOT allowed to battle inside those tunnels. You are not allowed to scream, to run or to eat there. The entire trip will take 2 hours, yes, it will be fast compared to the normal route everybody would know but it¡¯s not safe under normal circumstances. We are allowed to use deadly force against anyone who put the group at risk intentionally.¡± A ranger woman said. ¡°So, as it was explained. SHUT THE FUCK UP AND FOLLOW US! NO MORE, NO LESS!¡± Another ranger, a man that looked to be in his 50 and made out of pure muscle said. In silence everyone began to follow. I could see other ranges surrounding us. The inside of the mountain was not very illuminated, the rangers were using pokemon to light things up. It took less than 30 minutes to reach the tunnel but along the way everyone could see and feel how the rest of the mountain was faring. There were random holes on the ground or ceiling. Rocks were falling at every moment and wild pokemon were ignoring humans to fill said holes and protect their homes. Inside the tunnel we began to walk a straight line east. I don¡¯t know much about geology but I know when rock is weak. The tunnels are made of some sort of weak stone. People can quite literally crush a rock if their shoe soles are hard enough. This place was incredibly claustrophobic and if not for some very angry rangers around us ready to attack with their pokemon, I feel like some people would have freaked out. When we finally exited the tunnel we were outside the mountain. Everyone cheered like they just survived a catastrophe. From this point forward everyone could go their own ways, except back to the mountain. Almost everyone took the direct route to Cerulean but I had a small detour. Following the mountain east, north of the route, there was a small community of berry planters. They are known for having some rare berries and I want some to make sure I can make the best pokeblocks and poffins. If you don¡¯t take care of what you feed your pokemon that stops being useful so good berries are a must. It takes half a day to reach the place. Lunch was skipped but now that I see the place I think they would allow me to eat there. ¡°Hey, rare to see young folk around here.¡± A man, clearly a farmer, said as he was walking with his pokemon, a Gogoat. ¡°This is the Shining Moon Berry Farm, right?¡± I ask. ¡°Yeah. Looking for berries?¡± ¡°Yes.¡± ¡°Then go look for Sandra. I deal with vegetables, not that I sell them. I just grow them.¡± The man said humorously. ¡°Thanks and good luck with your vegetables.¡± I said as I entered the property proper. ¡°Good luck for you too, young lady.¡± The man said as he removed his hat. I walked the property, seeing hundreds if not thousands of berry trees on one side of the property while I could see plantations of vegetables on the other side. in the middle of it all there was a big building that nobody stopped me from entering. Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon. ¡°Welcome to the Shining Moon Farm. We sell berries and vegetables of the highest quality.¡±A tanned woman with long curly brown hair said from the other side of the wooden counter. The Entire building was made out of wood for that matter. It was like a giant wooden cabin but the size of a mansion. ¡°Hello, my name is Ann, I would like to buy some berries and eat something. I kind of skipped lunch.¡± ¡°Wow, how rare it is for someone to come here and so young too! Well, we have a kitchen here. Let me show you.¡± The woman quickly got up and guided me to said kitchen. I already had food prepared so I just needed to heat it up. As I was doing that I prepared the food for Sunny and Sparkly and sent them out to eat. ¡°Sorry for the delay, but it was safer than eating in the middle of the forest.¡± I said to my pokemon, who were clearly hungry. ¡°That was a very good choice. Things are mostly peaceful but there are also some really nasty buggers around that try to steal our berries here. So, what brings you here?¡± The woman asked very nicely after I ate a little of my lunch. ¡°I want to buy some of the more rare berries to make pokeblocks and poffins. I am participating in contests and I want to make sure I am doing everything I can.¡± ¡°Hmmm, well, good berries will help but just that won¡¯t be enough.¡± ¡°Of course not. We train pretty much daily. I luckily won a contest already so I need to do everything to make sure I can at least compete in my actual rank now.¡± ¡°Super Rank?¡± ¡°Yeah, I won a normal rank one not long ago but I don¡¯t think we are truly on Super Rank level yet¡I need to make sure I can continue to compete. Any money will help, so making sure I am not disqualified in the first rounds will help a lot.¡± ¡°That is quite smart of you.¡± ¡°We will be superstars! You can¡¯t become something like that if you don¡¯t think about things thoroughly.¡± ¡°Oddish!¡± ¡°Pi!¡± ¡°Your two little cuties seem to agree with that too. No reason to not sell things to you.¡± ¡°Thanks?¡± ¡°No problem. When you finish, just go back to the front, I can show you the catalog.¡± ¡°Sure¡¡± A few minutes later, after I washed everything we used, I went back to the front of the store and she showed me the catalog of berries. They had pretty much all natural occurring berries currently known and a few home breeds that as much as they can prove that they are completely fine, their full effects are still being researched. Like there is a berry that is the cross breed between an Oran Berry and a Cheri Berry that 40% of the time have the same effect as the two berries while the rest of the berries don¡¯t do anything special. ¡°Some of these are quite pricey¡ $3000 for a single Wetmel berry?¡± I ask in surprise. ¡°It is because we allow people to plant the seeds. Not that many people would actually try. Rare Berries are rare for a reason, you can¡¯t just plant them like the others and wait.¡± ¡°So, anyone can buy berries and just replant them?¡± ¡°We are not that dumb, girl. Big corporations can¡¯t, individuals can. There is a Berry Master in Cerulean City that has a small garden of rare berries, berries he got from seeds from our berries. He just makes juice out of them so there is no reason to do anything with him. But let¡¯s say Silph Co. brought a full shipment of berries, they are not allowed to use those berries to open their own farm.¡± ¡°That makes a lot of sense.¡± I don¡¯t think I will open a business for a good while if ever. ¡°So, anything in particular you are looking for?¡± ¡°I need berries for well rounded poffins and pokeblocks. You can¡¯t just focus on one area anymore in contests. Not that people don¡¯t try.¡± ¡°A good change in my opinion. At least for the whole World Contest Circuit. But I still see some old contests now and then. There are occasional ones in Hoenn, they are their own side circuit, if you ever go there, you should give it a try.¡± ¡°At some point, certainly.¡± ¡°Well, we actually have exactly what you are looking for. The problem is that it might be a little pricey but it¡¯s worth it if you are serious.¡± ¡°What is it?¡± ¡°Contest package. Enough berries to completely ¡®train¡¯ around 10 pokemons for contests in every single metric. Comes with a special Berry Pouch that will perfectly preserve the berries for over 5 years. Don¡¯t worry, you will get fresh berries.¡± ¡°What is the price?¡± ¡°$18,000.¡± That stung, it was almost all my money but if I buy it I wouldn¡¯t need to buy berries for a few years, at least for pokeblocks and poffins. ¡°...Alright, it¡¯s a good investment. I know people who pay way more than that to prepare their pokemon.¡± ¡°Like who?¡± ¡°There is Ruby, he is known to use a lot of money on his pokemon. Alice, our own Kanto Star Queen. She once paid half a million in food and helpers for one of her pokemon. The old contest king, Wallace, was also known to splurge money on his pokemon.¡± I said. ¡°Well, I will get your things ready. Anything else?¡± ¡°Can I stay the night? I don¡¯t think I will be able to reach Cerulean before sundown.¡± ¡°Sure, I will ask someone to prepare a room for you. Enjoy the farm if you wish, just respect the workers.¡± ¡°Absolutely!¡± I spent the rest of the time with some light training in an unused corner of the farm. The woman that sold me stuff was really nice but the farm required constant supervision so I didn¡¯t see her after she showed me my room. On the next day I woke up early, at least for me, that was just the normal hours for the people around here, got my stuff from another member of staff and left. I arrived in Cerulean just in time for lunch. ¡°Emergency news! Various tunnels on Mt. Moon collapsed. Authorities are now allowing trainers to use part of the highway between Pewter City and Cerulean City without a vehicle. What exactly happened is unknown but it looks like no person was inside the mountain when everything collapsed but rescue efforts for the pokemon inside will start as soon as possible according to what the rangers said.¡± A reporter said on the news over the TV. ¡°Hey, when did that happen?¡± I asked a boy seated on a table nearby. ¡°This morning. They are showing it non-stop today.¡± He explained. ¡°Thanks.¡± I said before continuing to eat my lunch. Before I was even finished, there was a big commotion coming from inside the pokecenter. My curiosity got the better of me and I went to watch what was happening but I was shocked when I saw the scene. ¡°Oh, hello Ann¡¡± Himura said to me in a very weak voice. He was barefooted, shirtless and using only a pair of pants that if anything, was study and not what he used normally. He was full of bruises, cuts and even some blood on him. His bad also seem to have had better days. His pokeball belt was different, it was white. But that wasn¡¯t what prompted the commotion. It was the two unconscious people and a few pokemon on the ground around him. ¡°Ann, Can I ask for a small favor?¡± he asked me, clearly exhausted. ¡°Yes?¡± ¡°Don¡¯t let people try to take my pokemon out of their pokeballs until I wake up. It will not be pretty what will happen.¡± ¡°Ok, but¡¡± ¡°Good, good¡I will be taking a little nap now, goodnight.¡± He said with a weary smile on his face before collapsing on the floor. What the fuck happened? Mt. Moon Rumble - Opening Act Himura (04/03) It took half a day of me running to reach the pokecenter near Mt. Moon from Pewter. I don¡¯t have time to think about what I did. That can be done after my pokemon are all healed. I give all my pokemon to the Nurse Joy there and begin to prepare food for my trip to Mt. Moon as they are healed. They are a little tired but I think that it is just that. About 3 hours later I have enough cooked food to sustain all of us for a week and as soon as I receive them back I run into the mountain. Mt. Moon is not just a mountain, it is a lot of mountains that are connected to each other. There are a lot of tunnels, man made and natural ones, that connect to other places. The basic route to Cerulean is marked so you would have to be really stupid or blind to get lost inside. Inside is strangely illuminated by both special lamps and what I think are just shiny rocks. I take a tunnel a little out of the way so I go deep into the mountain to an area that not many people go but will allow me some peace. It is a clearing with a small lake and a few trees that takes way too much effort to reach. One of the few places with actual sunlight in all this mountain if what people said online are to be believed. ¡°Check the area out. We need to make sure there are no other pokemon around that would attack us.¡± I say as I send out all my pokemon. ¡°Char!¡± ¡°Pichu!¡± ¡°Man!¡± ¡°Pid!¡± My pokemon say in agreement before they go look around. I begin to prepare our camp and around 30 minutes later they all come back and give me the signal that there is nothing around that would actually want to deal with us. I put food for all of us and we eat in silence. Once we finish and I clean everything I go to my tent, I need to sleep. My pokemon follow me. As I lay down on my sleeping back and all my pokemon mounted up near me, what happened finally started to sink in fully. ¡°I fucked up. I fucking fucked up!¡± I say as I begin to feel tears fall down on my face. I don¡¯t even wanna cry but tears just fall from my eyes. ¡°Char?¡± ¡°Mankey?¡± I hear the two ask, not that I can really tell what they are asking but I can somewhat understand it. ¡°I let Valkyrie get hurt, Bolt too. I let him hurt a lot of other pokemon, I pushed you two too far that you fainted in exhaustion, I lost control of myself and just kept hitting him and then I hit Ann. She probably hates or is afraid of me now¡ I think I lost the first friend I made by myself¡¡± I was too much of an overachiever in Rustboro to have cultivated any meaningful relationship. Kids were nice with me but that was just about it. The worst part about everything I did is that even through all my anger I was with a fully clear mind. I could have just stopped at any moment but I didn¡¯t. I had to do something to punish that idiot. It just wasn¡¯t something that I could let slide without doing something myself even if in hindsight it was a stupid choice. It felt good to do what I did. After calming down a little I finally fall asleep praising Arceus that the flames on Blaze¡¯s tail is not the type of fire that spreads automatically. (07/03) After spending a few days putting my sleep schedule back to normal and somewhat relaxing - as in having light training - I think it is finally time to leave this place. The phantom of what I did still haunts me a little but I know that just staying depressed will not help me. Yes, I fucked up but there is a lot in this life that I want to experience. If I find Ann again I will apologize and even if she doesn¡¯t accept it I will still remember all of this as something to learn from. Upon finishing our breakfast I return all my pokemon to their pokeballs and begin my walk back to the main tunnels. Along the way I find a lot of Zubats but unlike what would happen in the games, if you just let them pass through they will ignore you. Golbats are a different story but I didn¡¯t see any or they didn¡¯t saw me. When I was about half-way to the main path I saw two people walking the strange natural tunnels that aren¡¯t really illuminated. I had to do a double take because I am pretty sure they are dressed as Rocket grunts, like, Team Rocket people. They still exist but they aren¡¯t walking around in uniform anymore. They are actually like the mafia now. I follow the group of four from a distance, making sure to not make much noise, not that I need to, they seem to just fight anything that just as much as look at them in the wrong way so they are not exactly silent. They also aren¡¯t talking with each other. All I hear is them giving their pokemon commands. After what felt like hours I finally reached what I think is the destination. We are pretty down on the ground. These tunnels just went down and down for kilometers. In front of me stands a giant excavation site being manned by mostly pokemon but I can see a few people that clearly didn¡¯t want to be here. ¡°Move your asses back to work! You are only kept alive as long as you are useful!¡± A rocket grunt said as he whipped a group of five adults, I think there are three men and two women. They all have pickaxes and shovels with them and they are being guided to the center of the place, a giant hole in the ground. The place is well illuminated so I can make a good head count. There are over 20 Rockets in uniform around, all supervising this whole operation, with 12 people actually digging the center of the hole. There are a few dozen pokemon moving the rocks and dirt around with the exception of one. A giant golem that I bound in chains that is being guarded by two Rockets and a few of their pokemon. The Golem is probably an Alpha Pokemon and probably the reason why all the pokemon are following the Rocket¡¯s instructions. Alpha pokemon, unlike the games, are true to their names. They are the kings and queens of a place and usually necessary for the survival of all pokemon in an area as they stop other pokemon from spreading too aggressively into an area. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. I move around the area a little, hiding myself between boulders and mounts of dirt. There isn¡¯t even a shack in this entire place. Are they letting people just sleep on the ground? Also, these Rockets are just creepy. They don¡¯t do anything besides their job. They don¡¯t talk with each other or their pokemon. They also don¡¯t eat or drink water, something I noticed that they are making sure to provide to the people digging. It takes a good while but I manage to worm my way near the pit, the giant hole in the ground where dirt and rocks are being moved from. I don¡¯t know what they are trying to dig but I have to admit, it looks unique. I could see people doing something from far away but only taking a good look at the hole you see that they are trying to dig something without damaging it. It is a strange purple rock that so far looks bigger than a small bus. The moment I saw it I understood that this is way above anything I can deal with. As I turn around to try and leave this place and call the authorities I find myself face to face with an Alakazam. ¡°Human, I need your help.¡± It says to me psychically, directly to my mind. ¡ª-------- ¡°Ok, cool, let me calm down a little. I know that some pokemon, especially psychic pokemon, can talk with people normally by using telepathy but your voice freaks me out a little too much when I can¡¯t actually hear you with my ears.¡± I say to the Alakazam as I sit on a rock in the tunnel he teleported us to. ¡°It¡¯s understandable, human. My trainer also took some time to get used to me speaking with him.¡± He said, really calmly. ¡°Where is he?¡± I ask, trying to do anything to calm myself down. Hearing him telepathically speak to me feels wrong on a primal level. ¡°He is dead.¡± He said to me like it is the most normal thing. ¡°Sorry¡My condolences. Were those Rockets?¡± I ask him. ¡°No problem and don¡¯t worry, he died from old age a few decades ago.¡± ¡°...Ok. What do you need my help with? I was actually planning on calling the authorities so they can deal with those bad in the hole.¡± ¡°You can¡¯t. They will collapse the tunnels at the first signs of any attack and it will kill all the humans there along with a good amount of the pokemon.¡± ¡°...Shit! Also, how did you found that out? They don¡¯t talk.¡± ¡°No, but their minds are quite open and they actually sleep, you just have to wait enough.¡± ¡°If you don¡¯t mind me asking. Do you know what is going on? Team Rocket was supposed to not act like that anymore.¡± ¡°Those are just people in costumes. A way to divert attention in case they are caught. They want the stone buried inside that giant hole they dug and they are extremely resistant to any form of mind reading. Even while asleep I couldn¡¯t really find much, they are extremely disciplined and their minds are like fortresses.¡± ¡°Did you read my mind?¡± I ask, a little afraid of him. ¡°I can¡¯t. Your mind is like a chaotic storm in the middle of the ocean. I can try to read the surface of it but the moment I get caught it will swallow me. You think about too many things at once.¡± He says to me. I get kind of impressed that my mind works like that. I constantly have all the knowledge of Pokemon I know ready, whether I like it or not. Must look like I am constantly thinking about something. ¡°Ok. With that out of the way, what exactly do you want from me? I can¡¯t exactly storm that place without dying.¡± ¡°I need you to free the Alpha. Once you break those chains holding him down the other pokemon can deal with those people. Then I can save all the humans using my teleportation.¡± ¡°Any reason why can¡¯t you just teleport everyone and then free the Alpha?¡± ¡°Bombs on the humans. If I have no distraction to save the humans, I won¡¯t be able to leave the bombs behind. One tried to run away and it took less than a second for him to be exploded once the signal was given.¡± ¡°...Alright, I will do it, but I am kind of curious. Why are you doing all of this?¡± ¡°My old friend asked me to protect the innocent wherever possible. I have to at least try to follow his wishes, don¡¯t I?¡± ¡°...You are a good friend. So, when do we start and how exactly should I deal with the chains?¡± ¡°Burn one of the links and its effect will stop, freeing the Alpha. He already knows that you are on his side so he will not attack you but you should be prepared to fight for a minute or so as I rescue the other people and their pokemon that are being kept in another area.¡± ¡°Ok, Blaze, come out.¡± ¡°Char!¡± ¡°He is going to teleport us. We are going to appear behind a really big pokemon and you will need to use your strongest fire to melt part of a chain that will be in front of us. Do you understand?¡± ¡°...Char!¡± Blaze says affirmatively after a few moments. ¡°Thank you for your help, young ones. I am truly without resources here and without your help I wouldn¡¯t be able to save those people.¡± ¡°Let¡¯s get his show on the road before something happens.¡± After breathing in one last time he teleports me straight behind the giant golem and goes his way towards the hole where all the other people are. Blaze doesn¡¯t need me to say anything to him before he unleashes a torrent of fire from his mouth that heats up the strange chains in a matter of seconds. All the pokemon around us as well as the two guards quickly notice us but the moment they do the Golem Moves. ¡°GOOWOOOO!¡± The Golem shouts, breaking the chains holding him down. I quickly return Blaze to his pokemon so he can rest. He put everything in that one attack so it would work so he needs to rest for a few minutes at least. I dash straight towards the pokemon that were guarding the Alpha as they became stunned. No reason to stick around and limit what the Alpha can do. As I run from the area I was in, I can see a lot of pokemon now attacking the Rockets and they fighting back. After about a minute I start to get ready for the Alakazam to rescue me but instead of that I feel a strange wave of energy wash over me, everything turns somewhat purple and from the middle of nothing, what I can only describe as a glitching purple portal opens and from inside a man in a strange white uniform pops out. During all of this it is as if time stopped but I can still somewhat move. I just don¡¯t because I am in shock. ¡°You are all proud members of Team Paradox and you can¡¯t even deal with something like this? Well, the plan was to use him anyway, time to let him loose.¡± The man says as another bigger portal opens and from it what I am pretty sure is an Alpha Steelix comes through. The Golem is easily the size of a small house but the Steelix is around 1.5 times bigger in total. The man returns via his portal and once it disappears time begins to flow like normal. The Steelix goes straight towards the Golem and I receive a message that I didn¡¯t want to receive. ¡°There is a problem! I can¡¯t teleport.¡± The Alakazam sends to my mind. ¡°FUCK! And what in the nine hells is Team Paradox?¡± I ask as I see a Rocket grunt be hit in the face and like it was a cheap hologram his clothes transform into that of the man that summoned the Steelix. Mt. Moon Rumble - Round 1 - The Run Himura (04/03) I look around the cave and begin to run away as fast as I can into a tunnel. There is a literal war starting and I don¡¯t have the pokemon to fight it. Blaze is barely a few months old. It is a miracle that he matured so much, usually pokemon take a few months after they are born to be battle ready. Bolt is probably not much older than Blaze too as they are both growing around the same relative rate. As I run past two Geodudes smashing into each other, the Alakazam sends me another message. ¡°Human! Sorry for the last message, panic consumed. I can teleport but not to any safe place. It is like there is some sort of barrier limiting my range.¡± He explains to me calmly. ¡°So, how far can you teleport?¡± I ask him telepathically as we are still connected. ¡°Around halfway to the exit.¡± ¡°Can¡¯t you take the people there and we run the rest of the way?¡± ¡°Almost every single one of the rescued humans is unable to move on their own. Something was forcing them to be able to keep going near that stone.¡± ¡°Can¡¯t you just walk outside the barrier?¡± ¡°One of the humans is unconscious because he tried, I don¡¯t have the luxury to try myself, I am constantly moving around with the humans to keep them safe. The tunnels are devolving into extreme chaos.¡± ¡°Any idea where the origin of the barrier is? Maybe we can remove it somehow.¡± ¡°It is in the tunnel below. The really deep ones. I have never been there so I can¡¯t teleport there. ¡°...Alright, alright. Try to keep those people safe.¡± Me and my fucking consience! ¡°I will do my best, please try to keep yourself safe.¡± ¡ª-- I go back to the place where the thing was being dug up and try to look for a tunnel going down among the various ones around the place. The two alpha pokemon are going at each other full force and shaping things around. Various members of the Team Paradox are trying to keep the smaller pokemon in check but there is a literal mountain of pokemon after them, there is a limit to how much they can do. I walk around slowly, trying to keep myself out of fights. Most if not all pokemon here are way above the strongest pokemon I ever fought with my team so far. I could probably take on one of them but after that I would be in deep trouble. After what felt like hours I finally reached the side tunnel that looks to be going down instead of up. I follow it down, running from any pokemon I find fighting along the way. It takes a lot of trial and error as I look into the side tunnels of the tunnel I was, trying to find a path going to the direction I came but going down. I believe that whatever that place was that was keeping this strange barrier around would be guarded so I went to the places where I found the strongest pokemons using my ability to measure their strength. After two hours of non-stop running and hiding I finally reached somewhere. I love pokemon but they are terrifying when you let them. So many corpses along the way. I can¡¯t help but think on how an actual war would turn out, with people involved. At the end of this tunnel there was a strange machine. It looked like a giant pokeball if you looked at it from a distance. Near it there was a corpse of a Team Paradox member, a few of his pokemon along with the ones of a few wild pokemon. The pokemon that were still alive were trying to break the machine. ¡°Grave!¡± A Graveler said as he turned to me, not immediately attacking me. ¡°I am here to break that thing. I don¡¯t want to fight you.¡± I say as calmly as I can as I point to the machine. I also keep my hands up to show that I have nothing to hide. My pokeballs are unlocked so my pokemon don¡¯t need me to let them out in case of emergency. ¡°Grave!¡± The Graveler takes a moment to look at me and then I think he commands the other pokemon around to let me pass. I nod and slowly approach the machine. Machines in the pokemon world don¡¯t always follow the logical design I had glimpses from my past life and this was no different. This is something that I instinctively know is something that should be in fiction. The machine has no buttons, cables and floats so digging under it is a no go as the pokemon around found the hard way. I climb on top of it to check the top but I find nothing. ¡°Bolt, come out.¡± I say, asking for Bolt. He quickly leaves his pokeball. Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings. ¡°Pichu!¡± He says, energetically. ¡°Bolt, try to shock this machine just a little.¡± ¡°Pichu!¡± He says as he walks towards the strange machine, touches it and sends a small shock. The machine shakes. ¡°...Hey, Graveler. I think it would be for the best if you and your friends didn¡¯t stay here.¡± I say to the Graveler. He looks at me for a moment in confusion but then a Sandslash comes near him, says something and the Graveler commands every pokemon there to leave. As they begin to leave the area, I take a look at the Team Paradox member. It feels strange but I loot him. If he was just someone who died I would just put his body in my bag. There is actually a function for it in case of emergencies. I can only carry two bodies but it is two bodies more than I a normal person would be able to. He has no trainer ID but he has cash strangely enough. Around $10000 which is a good sum. All his pokeballs are broken but his pokeball belt isn¡¯t and it looks way nicer than mine. It is a strange white belt that looked way cooler than mine. Once I took it, the rest of him glitched out of reality and vanished. ¡°New owner detected. Please state your name.¡± An electronic voice from the belt said. ¡°Himura?¡± I said without really thinking. ¡°DNA, voice and name registered. Information not previously found in the database! Conclusion: Not part of Team Paradox. Resetting and re-registering the user for safety. Is the user a member of a team?¡± ¡°Like Team Paradox or Team Rocket? No.¡± ¡°Registration complete. Security Belt MK-XV is now yours. Any of your pokemon previously in a pokeball stored in this belt will be unable to be snagged and your pokeballs cannot be removed from this belt without express permission. User not registered with a Team, all the other functions are offline. Have a nice day.¡± The voice says before turning off. I quickly put on the belt, I don¡¯t know what is going on but I will not look a given Ponyta in the mouth. After making sure all my pokemon are protected by the belt I send out Bolt again. ¡°Alright bud. Use the strongest Thundershock you can on that thing and run towards me. I don¡¯t want to see what happens after, from up close.¡± ¡°Pichu!¡± He says as he charges itself. ¡°PIIIIIIIIICHUUUUUUUUUUUUU!¡± He shouts releasing a lot of electricity. The machine shakes violently, sending stone chips everywhere. Bolt runs towards me and I put him in his pokeball before dashing out of the tunnel. Around 3 minutes later a big explosion happened and I am pretty sure the entire mountain shook a little. I took a moment to breathe, it had to be that thing. ¡°HUMAN! RUN!¡± The Alazakam suddenly shouts in my mind as I feel the mountain open behind me. ¡ª-- Team Paradox Grunt Leader ¡°You fucking piece of shit! I am going to kill you!¡± I say as I finally find the stupid kid that sent everything into chaos. ¡°Steelix! Fuck him up!¡± I shout as I command the Alpha Steelix to go after the kid. Fuck that Golem! The others already took the stone but we still need to clean this place before leaving. If I don¡¯t get a promotion after this someone is going to pay! ¡°Shit! Run!¡± The boy shouts to all the pokemon before they all begin to scatter. ¡°After him!¡± I command the Steelix as I am mounted on him. The boy tries to go into a tunnel but my Steelix just digs through the mountain to intercept him. Above everything, he needs to go. ¡°Flash!¡± He shouts, a Pichu appearing in front of him. A flash of light hits my and Steelix¡¯s eyes, dazzling us for a moment. ¡°Rock Slide!¡± I command the Steelix. Even if we can¡¯t see, as long enough rocks fall, it is bound to hit him. After a minute we recover our vision and we look around, not finding his body. We follow the tunnel at high speeds, finding him along with other pokemon running away. ¡°Fucking dammit!¡± I hear the kid swear as we catch up with him. ¡°Stop running away! Don¡¯t make this harder than it needs to be!¡± ¡°Fuck you!¡± He shouts at me. ¡°Rock Throw!¡± I command the Steelix. A big rock forms and shoots from his mouth. I see the boy barely dodging out of the way as he dove to the side. ¡°What ''s wrong? Couldn¡¯t fight against someone at your level and decided to fight a little kid?¡± The kid taunted the Steelix. The steel snake got clearly angry with that comment. ¡°Big words for someone who is going to become a smear on the walls. Steelix, Iron Head.¡± I say as the Steelix dashes forward, energy gathering in his head. ¡°Asura! Low Kick!¡± The kid shouts. ¡°What!?¡± I say in confusion as something hits the Steelix and I feel both of us just dismantling towards the ground. It takes a full minute before the Steelix is back up and I am not blocked by him again. As the Steelix finishes recovering the boy is gone from my sight but there aren¡¯t many tunnels he can have gone to. It doesn¡¯t take even a minute for me to find his trail. Once we are just behind him again I feel the ground shake and from above us that damn Alpha Golem appears. ¡°Dammit! Steelix, deal with this pest once and for all and then follow after me!¡± I say as I begin to follow the boy on foot. I also sent out two of my pokemon. A Golbat to detect and keep other pokemon away and a Mightyena to attack if necessary. The boy is fast but he still is just a kid, I can follow him no problem. I follow him. He occasionally sends one of his pokemon out to attack us but very quickly takes them back. I have no idea how long I pursued him. Every time I get closer he does something to stop us. Collapsing tunnels, diving into holes at random, attacking my pokemon when they are trying to clear the way of other pokemon. How in hell does that kid manage to just slip past so many pokemon? Even ours? I have to return my Golbat and send out a Zubat I just began to train because he was getting too tired. Also, that damn Steelix is still fighting the Golem. The mountain is shaking non-stop. After various twists and turns inside this cheesed mountain that is now so full of holes because the pokemon are digging non stop as they fight, I finally corner him. ¡°Nowhere to run now!¡± I say as I approach him with my pokemon ready. ¡°Took the words out of my mouth.¡± He says, confidently. ¡°What?¡± ¡°Fire Blast!¡± Is the last thing I hear before an explosion hits my back. The world turns dark as I hear the sound of a pokemon returning to a pokeball. My body burns and stones begin to crush my body before I lose consciousness. Mt. Moon Rumble - Round 2 - Guerrilla tactics Himura (04/03) One would think that killing another person would make me feel something but I am strangely calm. I hope it''s not something residual from my last life as I don¡¯t think anyone like that from there was a good person. Death is, strangely, something common in this world if you stopped to think for a moment. I walked away from the area along with a few wild pokemon that followed me. Some of them took the corpses of the Team Paradox member¡¯s pokemon, probably to eat them. We all could still feel the battle between the Alphas raging on so we tried to go somewhere safe to wait things out. The Alakazam wasn¡¯t making contact with me so I had to do something by myself for now. After a few minutes of walking and asking around, the pokemon guided me along with a few others to the big excavation site. There were a lot of corpses and whatever they were trying to dig up, the team paradox people got it as there was a giant hole in the ground. I took a moment to loot the bodies I could as well as release any pokemon I found stuck in pokeballs. A few of them were loyal companions of their trainers and tried their best to at least secure their bodies. The rest simply tried their luck going into a tunnel, they clearly didn¡¯t care one way or another. From my looting I got a few more pokeballs, some money, potions, berries and some sort of ID card that I couldn¡¯t read a single word on it. A lot of wild pokemon were wary of me but almost every single one of them knew that I might be their safest bet in leaving this place in case their Alpha lost. We could all feel that the fight was almost coming to an end. The cave shook really violently for about 3 minutes straight before everything went strangely calm. Then the Alakazam contacted me. ¡°Human! We are being ambushed by something! Run away!¡± He shouted telepathically. A moment later he appeared in the excavation site, teleporting around, along with a black Gardevoir that had a strange orange stone embedded in its chest. The image of Shadow Mewtwo came to my mind. They were attacking each other with various types of moves and they looked deadly even. I also couldn¡¯t analyze the Gardevoir with my power. ¡°What!?¡± I tried to ask, confused as to what was happening, while watching the fight unfold. ¡°It is coming. It¡¯s weaker than this one. deal with it or we will all die!¡± The Alakazam said before vanishing along with his foe. Not even 10 seconds later the ground shook, rocks fell and the walls opened. From it emerged the Alpha Steelix, only this time it had an orange stone in its head and he was also slowly turning black. I could see a few bits and pieces of the Alpha Golem around his body and mouth. All the pokemon around began to run in panic. The Steelix was hunting everyone, past friend or foe alike, while he came in my direction. I turned around and ran as fast as I could towards the exit. The Steelix quickly made sure I had no option but to fight him. He summoned a lot of rocks and with great accuracy, like I never saw before, blocked almost every single tunnel in the excavation site. Every pokemon who could immediately began to dig holes and the ones that couldn¡¯t went into those holes. ¡°Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!¡± I said in both frustration and anger as my only option truly became fighting the damn thing. ¡°Ruuuuoooaaar!¡± The Steelix roared as he dashed in my direction while using an attacking move as he was shining a little. ¡°Asura, Low Kick! Bolt, Flash! Blaze, Dragonbreath!¡± I shouted as I sent out my pokemon. Asura quickly dashed forwards and tried to trip the Steelix again. It didn¡¯t work. Bolt created a giant flash of light that seemed to do nothing and Blaze¡¯s Dragonbreath was pretty much ignored but the giant steel snake. I was hoping for paralysis to trigger but it didn¡¯t. I quickly recalled all of them in sequence as their moves didn¡¯t do anything and dashed away from the Steelix, barely getting out of the way. I turned my head around and saw the Steelix hitting a Graveler, one that was, at least statistically, stronger than any of my pokemon. It exploded in a million pieces and die by the Steelix¡¯s attack. I cannot let my pokemon get hit once or they will die and I refuse to let them die! (05/03) ¡°You damned snake! Don¡¯t you sleep!¡± I shouted as I returned Blaze to his pokemon after he attacked the Steelix. I have been running nonstop for over a day now. The clock in my phone says it is almost midnight. Me and my pokemon had to eat and heal on the run. In a moment of clarity I remembered that some berries worked as energy drinks so we all consumed a few. I tried to fight him somewhat head on but once it turned all black it got way stronger and I couldn¡¯t risk a direct confrontation. Asura gets hurt attacking him now so the best counter I had to deal with a stronger, bigger and heavier opponent is pretty much out of the fight. At least he can break rocks and now dig into stone. I don¡¯t know how he managed it but along the last 24 hours he channeled his inner mole and learned Dig to help me move around. I don¡¯t know exactly what is happening with the Steelix but he can¡¯t sense us when we go a little too deep into the ground or walls for a while. Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. (06/03) ¡°CHAAAAAR!¡± Blaze shouted as he poured all the energy he had into his attack. ¡°Stop. This should be enough. The rocks are almost melting.¡± I said to him as I patted him in the head. ¡°Char!¡± He said happily before catching his breath. ¡°Return for now. I need all of you rested.¡± I said, returning him to his pokeball. I have no idea how I am still standing but I am. I am completely lost, I lost one of my shoes and it is a miracle I have water. There is a small underground stream that I found but even that wasn¡¯t enough to stop the Steelix from following me. It was barely half a meter deep so it wouldn¡¯t be a problem to him. I tried to attack him with everything but I have no idea if he is even taking damage. Old game logic said to me that the minimum amount of damage you could deal was 1, no matter what, but I can¡¯t tell if that holds true in this world at the moment. Never tested it before. Lets just hope that it takes a while for him to go around the not-magma that I managed to make Blaze prepared in this part of the mountain so I can at least rest a little. (07/03) ¡°Valkyrie, whirlwind! Blaze, Flamethrower! Coat the cave in heat!¡± I shouted to my two pokemon as they attacked the Steelix. It took me a while to figure out but there is a very strong air current inside the mountains. I can feed the fire a little if I play my cards right. This wasn¡¯t the first time we tried it so they got the idea on how much power they need to put into each move so they didn¡¯t cancel each other. If the wind was too strong it would disperse the fire, if the fire was too strong it would pierce through the wind. They need to be just right to feed into each other in a way that made something similar to the move Heat Wave. ¡°Return for now. Rest as much as you can!¡± I said to them as I am starting to lose myself due to the lack of sleep. ¡°Bolt, Flash. Asura, Dig up, I will be holding on to your legs like usual.¡± ¡°Pichu!¡± ¡°Mankey!¡± They said, confirming that they understood me. Bolt sends a flash of light that seems to be the only thing to now visibly affect the Steelix as it got visibly dazzled after a few dozens of times being hit by the move. I returned him to his pokeball and grabbed Asura¡¯s legs. He starts to dig up, carrying me, as it is way faster than me just climbing into his tunnels, at least going up. Going down I can do it by myself just as fast as him. (??/03) I have no idea what day it is. Phone died and the pokedex didn¡¯t have a clock in it. I also found the Alakazam. His fight was still going on like mine. He begged for me to use some potions or give him some berries so I did what I could. My own stock was getting dangerously low. My pokemon weren¡¯t getting hit directly but all the small skirmishes were slowly making them accumulate damage. I wish I had some miracle medicine for me too as I have lots of bruises around and without being able to rest my super human body can¡¯t properly heal. The Alakazam was really surprised that I could still hold on. After I healed him he went straight back to battle, like me. The Steelix was too close for me to just run away. I began to run into the tunnels near me, looking for a safe passage. At this point I was instinctively able to tell if I could use a tunnel or not. After running for about 5 minutes if my sense of time still is right, I found a somewhat open area to prepare my ambush. ¡°Everyone, come out!¡± I said, sending all my pokemon out. ¡°He is coming from that tunnel. Valkyrie, get ready to rescue Bolt and Asura once they hit him. Blaze, I hope you rested enough, we need something big again.¡± I said, they all nodded in agreement. Bolt and Asura moved toward the top of the tunnel I could tell the Steelix was coming from and Valkyrie stayed just above them. Me and Blaze stood right in front of the tunnel, waiting for the Steelix. Not much later the giant steel snake appeared. ¡°Now!¡± I shouted and all my pokemon began to act. Blaze shot a really big Fire Blast straight at the Steelix, setting him ablaze. It wouldn¡¯t last long, that stupid dispersed almost every status effect but him being burned stopped his stupid ability to deal damage to other pokemon who made contact with him. My sleep deprived brain barely put two and two together once that happened the first time. Asura and Bolt dashed downwards. Bolt using Quick attack and Asura Low Kick. Both went straight to the orange stone. If I could destroy it, I think the Steelix would stop pursuing me. If that doesn''t happen, I am pretty sure the Steelix will get paralyzed for a while so I can run away. They both hit the target, The Steelix roared in pain and Valkyrie grabbed the two as soon as he could, moving towards me not a moment later. I returned everyone to their pokemon and began to run. (??/03) I think I had 4 hours of sleep. The Steelix must have been completely paralyzed for a while. Continuing into the tunnels I somehow got back into the excavation site. I took a moment to look around, it was worse than I remembered. As I was looking on how I would move from here, the Alakazam contacted me. ¡°Human, you need to deal with your foe or we will be stuck here forever. They are connected somehow and if we don¡¯t deal with them, both at once, they will not be defeated.¡± ¡°...Are you sure?¡± ¡°Yes. My foe should already be on the ground but nothing I do will truly finish the fight. She is less effective now but I can¡¯t put her down. I believe your foe is the same, isn''t it?¡± ¡°Yes¡ I will try to break the stone, you should try the same.¡± ¡°I will, good luck. I will be ready to finish things along with you. Do your best.¡± He said before cutting the talk. A few minutes later the Steelix appeared. I sent out all my pokemon. ¡°Listen up everyone! We have to defeat him to leave this place alive. No more running is allowed. It will be either him or us. I refuse to die here or let all of you find that same fate! Let¡¯s hunt that snake!¡± I said to them. My pokemon shouted along with me as we dashed towards the Steelix. This would end one way or another. The End - The Great Summary(Part 1) Himura¡¯s fight against the strange Steelix would have boiled down to various combination attacks while in the end he would use himself as bait for all his pokemon to hit a weak point the Steelix gained after all the fighting. Bolt would have evolved to a PIkachu, Blaze to a Charmeleon and Valkyrie to a Pidgeotto after the fight and promptly passed out. With that fight out of the way the Alakazam would have finished his fight too and after going over everything that happened in the mountain one last time he would teleport Himura and everyone he rescued to the pokecenter in Cerulean and the story would continue from where Ann found Himura. Himura would somewhat explain what happened but wouldn¡¯t say anything about Team Paradox, his sixth sense would flare up, telling him that speaking of them to pretty much anyone or in public would be a bad idea. At this point Ann and Himura would make up after telling a little more about their past, Himura telling about his struggles growing up and Ann, even if a little embarrassed that her life was somewhat easy in comparison, would tell that she really wasn¡¯t good at anything besides the stuff you need to participate in contests. After recovering himself, Himura would allow his pokemon to be checked, he would get scolded for allowing Bolt and Blaze to evolve as they were too young and it might have caused problems. Nothing really bad happened to them but the nurse Joy would tell Himura that unless his pokemon were battling endlessly and against very strong pokemon, evolving while so young might make them very aggressive and dangerous to him. Himura would notice that using his power he could tell his pokemon¡¯s levels would have been somewhat high(30-40s) but still not evolving. After a little research and some testing Himura would discover that pokemon could hold on unto the energy they gained by battling and whatnot to achieve a stronger evolution. Like, you could evolve and get a little stronger or you could hold on for a while and get a lot stronger when you evolve. Doing that is also what causes a young pokemon to not go crazy if they evolve early. After resting for a while, helping Ann train and answering a few questions about everything that happened to the authorities, Himura would have gone after Misty to challenge her. At this point I was going to show she was in some sort of relationship with someone but I couldn¡¯t really decide if I would use an original character or research something from the manga cannon I might have missed(I know that in the manga she likes Red but she loses that one very early on.) I would also allude that she might have kids and not necessarily be married yet. Would be somewhat a running gag that every time she would try to actually have a marriage ceremony something would happen. Himura would challenge her to a gym battle personally and be scheduled as the main event on one of the days. Himura would also make a bet with Misty where if he won she would help him find a water pokemon for his team and in exchange she could use a stronger team, not the normal one to a challenger with only one badge. Upon the day of the challenge arriving, after waiting for the other fights, Himura would have been called and the battle started. It would be a 4 vs 4 battle. Himura would battle each of Misty¡¯s pokemon with one of his, switching out to give everyone a chance to fight. Misty¡¯s third pokemon would have been a very strong gyarados that could fight against Bolt even when he was raining lightning on him. The last pokemon she would use was a Lapras covered in scars. Blaze would fight against it and not even once Misty would give commands to it. The fight would have been strangely even as the Lapras would start to strategize a little but would ultimately be defeated. Himura would have a perfect win but nobody would say that Misty was a pushover in the battle, Himura earned his win. Misty would then tell the story about the Lapras, it was a strange female one that left its group because it just loved to fight and came to find its way to Misty since nobody could handle the girl. After a night of healing Misty would present Lapras to Himura and ask if she wanted to go with him. The Lapras would accept and join Himura¡¯s team. The story would then somewhat shift to Ann¡¯s training for the contest, two rivals would be introduced to her, a girl that pure natural talent that could make almost any pokemon into a star and an older boy(15-16 year old) who would use espionage and his intellect to discover who the judges of a contest would be and then prepare something specific to those judges. He wouldn¡¯t be what people call good in a vacuum but his performances were in the top 10% of what you could expect at that level. Himura would have gone up, towards bill lab, found that a lone Team paradox was in the nugget bridge trying to start something. he would stop things before it even started and it would dawn on him that maybe the places where Team Paradox appeared where not all that random and might be following the games or anime somewhat. The story would continue, Ann would come in second in the contest, losing to her new girl rival. Following that, Ann and Himura would go to Vermillion, purposely avoiding Saffron city due to Ann¡¯s request. There, Ann would win a street lottery and gain 3 tickets to pass a week in a ship that was ported to the city(not S.S. Anne.) Ann would sell the third ticket to a random rich woman and both her and Himura would spend a week enjoying the cruise ship while also training. Himura would also learn to surf on his new Lapras over the week as they bonded. It would also be noted that Himura felt strangely at peace in the water even after everything that happened to him. At the end of the week Team Rocket(Team Paradox) would attack the ship, looking for something. Surge would start a small-scale war against the people dressed as rocket members, this would be used to show how brutal actual fights could be in the world. Surge would be impressed by Himura and note that there was no way that the people they fought and killed were members of team rocket as he used to be a member and that wasn¡¯t how they worked. The fact that their bodies seem to vanish and pretty much only him and Himura were noticing it also was alerting him that something was going on. After the clean up Surge would use his privilege as an Ex-Gym leader and allow Himura to skip the line and fight the new gym leader as long as he made the fight more public and outside the gym to help boost the spirit of the people in the city. The new Gym leader would be a girl that appeared on the last season of Pokemon where Ash was still the protagonist, it was a fight for the world tournament. The battle would be a 3 vs 5, the gym leader''s two first pokemon would just set up the stage and soon lose(electric terrain, hazards, the like) and the battle would be pretty much a raid against her Raichu, her real ace. During the fight Himura would see the Raichu the gym leader was using, using variations of other moves, almost like they were new ones, and would start, in the middle of the battle, to make his pokemon try to create new moves. It would be a start but after various exchanges and not much progress, HImura would be down to his last pokemon, the Lapras. It would be a challenge but after they both finally get in sync, Himura would win in the end. Next Ann would have her contest and win by the skin of her teeth as her partner, Sunny, would evolve during the finals, securing her a win in the battle event. She would then inform Himura that for a while she would focus on bettering herself as she knew she had no chance of winning the next stage of contests. Himura would start to help her train her pokemon to actually be able to fight. They would go back to Cerulean, take a stop in the Power Plant where Sparkly would evolve into a Pikachu after helping there with some energy problems. They would then all go to the Rock Tunnel but after coming out, instead of reaching Lavender, they would get a little lost and arrive straight in Route 8. Ann would capture a Kanto Vulpix that became infatuated with Blaze after he defeated a lot of pokemons in the route as Himura was challenged by various people. Next Stop was Celadon, once again avoiding Saffron. Ann would go on a shopping spree, mostly with Himura¡¯s money, and almost everything they would need for their future adventures would be available. Seeing the possible problem of not having money Himura went towards the game corner, both for the money and to look for team Paradox. There he would find a strange scene of an Eevee playing in the slot machines and winning more often than not, even if not much. The people there would explain the Eevees owner was a scumbag that owed money to a lot of bad people and the Eevee was trying to help for some reason. Himura would follow the eevee, find his owner and after a very heated discussion where bandits made a deal with the Eevee¡¯s owner to sell the pokemon in exchange for dealing with his debts a fight would break out as the Eevee would have been devastated and Himura didn¡¯t like it. By the end of everything, Himura would have defeated everyone there, the police would have arrived to lock those people up and the Eevee would be given to him as he was the only one he was somewhat responding to. Himura would begrudgingly accept as he knew that both him and the Eevee wanted two different things and that wouldn¡¯t change any time soon. This would be a long story line on how you could be a good trainer even to a pokemon that doesn¡¯t necessarily have their interests aligned to you. This Eevee would barely fight but Himura¡¯s other pokemon would convince him to at least train. Himura would challenge the gym but he would this time just sweep with Blaze. Following that he would ask the gym trainers to help him find a grass pokemon to add to his team in exchange for helping them devise counters against their weaknesses. Erica would more than welcome it and until the day of the Ann Contest(she would still participate, even if for the money) HImura would work for the gym but would not find a single grass pokemon that wanted to come with him. Some people would mock him, saying that he should just capture a pokemon but Himura refused. Besides the Eevee, every single one of his pokemon were on board with his plans and Himura needed pokemon willing to go the extra mile. Beating a pokemon into submission wouldn¡¯t help him. Taking the cycling road, they went down, towards Fuschia City. As training, it was Ann that battled most trainers who challenged them to a fight. She would have won more than she lost. Upon arriving in the city, Himura would inquire about the Safari Zone. It wasn¡¯t the one like in the manga but like in the game or anime. You would pay to enter and had a limited time to catch pokemon with the special balls. Himura would spend the entire time Ann was preparing for the contest in the safari Zone, trying to find new pokemon to join his team. HIs work would pay off with a Scyther and a Taurus joining his team. At this point Himura would start to plan on how to rotate his team to equally train them. He also explained that Blaze could never leave his belt so that everyone please don¡¯t think it is favoritism, Himura¡¯s life depended on it. Ann would participate in her contest and lose in the initial stages. Soon after HImura would challenge the gym. After an intense 6 vs 6 tactical battle where Himura would have managed to barely win by using his new pokemon, he would get another badge. Koga would suddenly appear and congratulate Himura, scaring Janine. Koga would imply that he has some idea on what is going on and that HImura should be prepared to fight at any moment. He would also give a collection of TMs to Himura as a gift, giving the reason that the battle had actually reawakened Janine¡¯s brain to fight again and he was grateful. It would be explained that Janine was actually considered the most unfair gym in Kanto since she would go out of her way to research the people who would battle her and plan counters for that. The fact that, even after that, Himura managed to match her planning with battle strategy and improvisation was commendable. Asura would evolve in that last fight and contrary to what was to be expected, he became calmer upon evolving. After the fight Himura would focus a little more on the moves he was trying to create with his pokemon. For Blaze he was trying to combine Dragonbreath with Flamethrower. It was going somewhere but blaze couldn¡¯t maintain the mix long enough to be something wholly new. Bolt was trying to combine Iron Tail with any electric move. Himura, after studying a little, noticed that most pokemon immune to electricity were only immune on the outside of their bodies, even ground pokemon. Bolt¡¯s tail was uniquely pointy and they were trying to create a move that pierced any defense and shocked you from the inside. Valkyrie was strangely good at using Twister so Himura was trying to see if he could make her combine twister with her other moves, Air Slash being the best one at the moment. Asura, after evolving, on his own, was trying to create a new elemental punch move. With Lapra¡¯s help, he was trying to create the water punch. The Scyther, Tauros were too new to the team for anything and Eevee wasn¡¯t a fighter. Himura and Ann would leave the city and go towards Lavender Town. In the middle of the way they would have been attacked by what would have been the competent Jessie and James of this story. A pair of members of Team Paradox sent to specifically interact with Himura. They would have a unique pokemon from a previously closed region that required you to capture it in two pokeballs at once and two people had to command it. It would be a snake-hydra pokemon that would slowly gain more heads. The pair would be somewhat comedic but not enough for you to not take them seriously. It would also be clearly implied that they couldn¡¯t use their full power for some reason so not using 6 pokemon each to battle Himura would have an explanation. To Ann and most people, those two would have been a pair of team rocket cosplayers that didn¡¯t like Himura personally for some reason. In Lavender town proper, Himura would visit the pokemon tower, deal with more members of Team Paradox. Mr. Fuji Would actually be alive by this time and try to stop the members of team paradox himself but would fail due to his age. Once Himura dealt with the situation, Mr Fuji would fall ill and before he died he would give Himura a few mega bracelets along with a Charizardite Y. The mega bracelets were to be given to people Himura thought were worthy and the Mega Stone was payment. Strangely enough nobody would know how Mr Fuji came to acquire the items as he never left town and nobody delivered it to him as far the people that took care of him knew. Himura would also gain the power of seeing the spirit of some dead pokemon. This would make him go into a short lived coma that would leave both him and Ann stuck in the town for a few days. The story would then shift to Steven and Wallace fighting something and losing badly. Once they were with their last pokemon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald would appear and rescue them with the pokemon they were fighting fleeing soon after. There would be some foreshadowing that they would have to wait for Himura to come back to deal with that thing. Steven and Wallace would say that they need to prepare everyone for what would be a clear disaster. This novel''s true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there. Back to HImura and Ann, they would finally go to Saffron. Ann would make them stay at her home. After some light teasing from her parents, Himura would train for his fight while Ann did her best to make sure she could put on a decent show in her hometown. It would also have been explained that Ann pretty much ran away from home to pursue her dreams and that it was only after Himura explained his situation to Ann that she began to secretly communicate with her family to make peace. It somewhat worked, her mother was still worried sick about her but they now at least understood her better. After spending a few days there, Himura would be the spectator of a scene where Ann¡¯s family was just being happy together and he would start to cry uncontrollably. Ann and his family would comfort him, him explaining that he lost his family. Himura might be what he was but he still had scars. Seeing a happy family in front of him opened them a little. He was a very tough 10 year old but he was still a 10 year old. Himura would become unofficially part of the family. Ann¡¯s mom and dad would from that point act like his parents when possible, calling to talk with him and what not. Himura would challenge the Gym. Unlike other Gyms, the fights there were all private with only a selected audience. In a comedic turn of events, Himura would win the battle by default since Sabrina herself would be knocked out by trying to read his mind. A day later they would actually battle but only to a draw. Ann would have her contest but even after putting on the best show of her life so far, she would have lost to someone just passing through Kanto that was leagues above her. It would be someone famous that didn¡¯t have time to normally participate in contests but would have the skill to be a master if she could compete. Himura would take on the Fighting Dojo and Eevee would have his first fight, winning after learning Psychic and trashing one of the pokemon there because it reminded him of his owner. At this point the Eevee would start to get bouts of intense anger. HImura would have his rematch with Sabrina and win. Blaze would evolve after the fight along with Valkyrie and Asura. Bolt felt that he could also evolve but was divided between evolving onto an Alolan Raichu or a Kanto one. There would be a whole chapter about Himura and Ann going on a date that mirrored one that their Pikachu¡¯s were going. It was always my intention to make them a couple but only after a lot of things. This was to give a glimpse of that. It would be a kids date, not a kiss or anything would happen. This would also show that Himura, in many ways, was a child, even if he had part of an adult brain inside him. He had pokemon and battles inside his head most of the time. Sparkly would choose the Light Stone(it would be explained that you could evolve a Pikachu into its Alolan form using a special Light stone from there) and Bolt would use the remaining thunder stone one to evolve into a Kanto Raichu. So far the story would have taken around 6 months(in story time) and the next part would be a somewhat time skip. Koga would have appeared again and explained to Himura that someone was planning on attacking Silph Co. But not any time soon. Himura would travel down to Cinnabar to challenge the gym there but after seeing the gym leader once, he knew that he could never win as he was at the moment. The next few months would be spent with Himura training, his pokemon learning the moves they created, Himura would actually give one of the Mega Bracelets to someone, it would be later explained that he was one of the Ruby and Sapphire''s kids that was on his way back to Hoenn. The Scyther would be evolved into a Scissor(without trading), Asura would have evolved too. HImura would also have given up on finding a grass pokemon in Kanto. During those months he was training, Ann would go around doing contests again, winning one and leaving only one left for her to classify for the conference at the end of the year. Ann¡¯s Gloom and Vulpix would also be evolved during this time. Ann would also note that unlike Himura, she can barely take care of 3 pokemon so she won¡¯t be trying to catch any new one any time soon. Himura would also have found 3 other mega stones. One for his Scissor, one for his Pidgeot and one for a Gyarados that he gave to Misty to take care. Her new tentative at a wedding ceremony would be interrupted by a wild magikarp evolving and somehow managing to use the mega stone to mega evolve on his own. The team paradox duo would also occasionally pop up, but never using a pokemon that didn¡¯t officially exist. Himura and Ann would fly their pokemon back to Cinnabar. At this point the island was completely restored and a geothermal power plant that also served as the gym was there to not allow things to get destroyed like before. The gym leader there was someone from a remote region, he was actually their champion until a while ago but he left the position to take care of the powerplant there. He would explain that he actually lost someone from his family there and wanted to make sure something like that wouldn¡¯t happen again. The fighting would have been intense, barriers to protect the spectators almost gave up mid fight. The last battle was between Blaze and the Gym leader¡¯s magmortar. Blaze would mega evolve and not go crazy(until this point every pokemon HImura had that could Mega evolve couldn¡¯t maintain the mega evolution for long without going berserk even when Himura got serious and didn¡¯t even need to tell his pokemon what to do.) After a last clash that melted what was supposed to be a fire proof arena, Himura was given the badge. The story would then split between Ann and Himura. They had a time limit now to win their last gym battle and contest. Ann would go back to Saffron and win her master ribbon there while Himura would go to Veridian and challenge the gym there. The story would go between them and their preparations. The gym leader of veridian would actually get permission for a 6 vs 8 battle just so Himura could use all his pokemon. Eevee actually wanted to fight this one after the gym leader said something to him. The battle and the contest would start at the same point. Their struggles would be mirrored. Himura would actually mega evolve every single of his pokemon he could by using the spare Key stones on the other Mega Rings he had but he would still barely win. Ann would also have to win actual fights against her rivals that were competing just for the money to win her ribbon. Just after both their battles ended, Himura would be contacted by Koga, telling him to go to Saffron as fast as he could because team paradox was planning to make a terrorist attack on the entire city and Himura was the only one that could see the strange distortions they created fully. The Gym leader would give Himura the item Sacred Ash. Himura didn¡¯t have time to think about what her having that item would mean and just used it on his pokemon to fully revive and heal them. Mounting Valkyrie he would fly straight towards Saffron. Upon arriving he would go straight to the Silph Co. building because it would be the only place that had some sort of distortion. Upon his arrival, Koga, Brock, Misty, Sabrina, Surge and Janine would go after him to raid the building. A mini-war would happen inside the building and it would be mostly destroyed with all the battles happening. Upon reaching the top floor one of the leaders of the team paradox would drop its disguise allowing even normal people to see his true appearance and then he would flee as Giovanni himself would begin to try and hunt the man as nobody had the right to impersonate him or his team. The duo that was following Himura would start to battle him at the top floor, this time with all their pokemon, but once they saw that they were going to lose they also fled in to a portal but sweared that next time would be the last time they battled because they wouldn¡¯t need to hold back anymore. The story would then cut back to Ann and turn the clock a little as the rest of the gym leaders besides the one in Viridian would start to try and protect the city from members of team paradox posing as team rocket members. This part would mostly be used to explain just how much a powerful trainer is worth as with just barely 10 people they protected an entire city with minimal damage. Ann would also add that she could see part of Himura¡¯s fight at the top of the Silph Co. building and note that Himura was making sure no stray moves hitted the city. After everything Himura would just collapse in exhaustion. Once he woke up he would somewhat explain team paradox to the gym leaders but would stop once Koga signalled him that they were barely hearing what he was actually saying. After everyone left, he and Koga would have come up with the theory that you needed to be a somewhat powerful trainer to understand what was going on. The gym leaders were incredibly talented and powerful trainers but an elite 4 member or champion was another thing entirely. Koga would continue to investigate things and say to Himura that he should just continue his journey. Ann and Himura would soon go towards the conferences. After a not really eventful victory road they would arrive at the conference plato where the league and contest conferences happened one after the other. The story here would have much to go on for a little while. Ann would register herself in the contest conference and Himura for the league one. They would prepare a little but mostly focusing on Ann for now and the contest conference would start. It would be a 7 day thing where you had to win 3 contests to classify for the finals. Some contests could have multiple winners. The exact details wouldn¡¯t be really explained but Ann, with some strategizing from Himura, would easily classify for the finals in the first 3 days and prepare for the finals on the last day. On the day of the finals Himura would be on the on the spectator seats and watch as Ann would just by the skin of her teeth advance the first two stages. The story would then cut to her and the finals would start. it would be a simultaneous show with another person that was clearly above her level. There would be some explanation as to how Ann was just in the Zone and not even her had any idea how she managed to get to the actual finals. She would start to remember a few conversations that she had with Himura and how if not for him she would probably have just gone back home after a while before doing anything worthwhile. Here she would also remember how Himura was really looking forward to the show she would do in the finals and how he wouldn¡¯t miss it for anything in the world. After doing her best performance she would still have come up short of a true professional but she was happy. She knew that she couldn¡¯t win but she did her best and that was enough. Upon receiving her prize there would be a little interview with all the finalists and when it was Ann¡¯s turn she would thank her family and Himura. The interviewer would try to find Himura in the audience but he wouldn¡¯t be found and some people would note that he left a while ago from his seat. Ann would have an extreme bad feeling and rush outside the contest hall. The story would then cut to Himura feeling something really dangerous outside the contest hall just as the final was about to start and left to check. Once outside he would see the biggest rift in reality he ever saw and every instinct he had would scream to him that something really bad was coming. He would fly up there and from the rift the two paradox members that battled Himura would have a quick fight with only the strange pokemon only they had that needed two trainers. After they easily lost they would explain that they acquired ultimate power and Himura would pay for the humiliation they suffered. After that a moltres would appear from the portal and start to just attack everything in sight while the two paradox members fled into the portal. Himura would notice that the Moltres was starting to eye the contest hall and would begin to fight it. This fight would be a brutal aerial fight. Not once any pokemon or human would touch the ground. Himura would have to constantly return his pokemon to their pokeballs as he jumped between Blaze and Valkyrie that somewhat kept the Moltres away from the hall. After a fight where all of Himura¡¯s pokemon minus blaze fainted, in a last ditch attack, Blaze and Himura crash into the Moltres and while it is on the ground Himura does something that would stay a secret for a while. Since I have no plans on actually writing these things. Himura would have caught the moltres but he would be unable to use it for a good while since the moltres would appear to Himura as a level 200 pokemon. Ann would find an incredibly hurt Himura and Blaze on the ground, laughing like maniacs. She would cry, then get angry, then cry again as she finally understood that Himura fought something to protect the contest hall. Himura would say how sorry he was but Ann would say it was ok. her performance was only good for second place and Himura deserved to see something worth first place. Once again Himura and his pokemon would have been taken to the pokecenter for treatment. The joy would joke that Himura was starting to get a reputation with medical staff. The story would then fast-forward a week to the league conference. There would be an exhibition match between two elite four members to hype everyone up and then things would start in earnest. Since people from both Kanto and Johto would participate, the conference would have a lot of people. Green¡¯s kids would participate so Himura would see a few familiar faces around. The league would be pretty much nothing to Himura. He would win most fights using one or two pokemon and not even break a sweat. In the quarter finals he would completely destroy one of Green¡¯s kids and that would finally get some attention on him as they were the favorites to win by a mile. Green would be surprised by how much the charmander he gave Himura had grown and his own Charizard was beginning to itch for a fight with it. The semi-finals would be the climax of this part of the story. The other trainer would be someone that only after they saw each other up close Himura would see that he was a member of team paradox. The battle would start and the team paradox member would send a legendary or mythic pokemon but everyone would see it as a normal pokemon. The entire fight Himura would have to strategize and use every little bit of power his pokemon had and would only win by the skin of his teeth. The team paradox member would smile and say that he was looking forward to their next bout. He hoped that Himura would have a little more variety of pokemon next time. Before vanishing in a portal that nobody even noticed. Himura would almost faint as he used all his powers to the limit and was extremely exhausted. He would eat and rest for the rest of the day but come the next day he was actually angry with the entire situation. By some stroke of fate, The Eevee, seeing Himura angry, asked to fight and with some simple guidance from Himura would sweep the team of the other finalist. Himura would be declared the winner of the conference but would decline his right to challenge the elite four right away as he didn¡¯t want the title nor he thought he was ready since the moment he won the league his power would ¡®evolve¡¯ and he would discover that with the exception of stats, level were relative. His pokemon were level 100 if compared to the level of most trainers, but when in comparison to the elite of the elite, they were barely level 30. Experience and training did way more than he was imagining until that point. Ann¡¯s family would arrive after everything and throw a little party for Ann and Himura. it would be a nice heartwarming thing where lots of people that helped or became friends with Himura would take part in. Oak, Green, Blue, etc¡ The day after the party everyone would go their separate ways for a while with Himura going back to Pallet. After a few days of rest and careful consideration Himura would decide that he needed to continue journeying and he needed to go to Johto now. He didn¡¯t want Ann to come with him because it was dangerous and she was his best friend and he didn¡¯t want her hurt because of team paradox. Still, he was somewhat an adult inside and knew that Ann would get angry no matter the reason he gave so he asked to meet with her in vermillion a few days before he took a ship to Johto. There, he would explain in no uncertain terms that He was going to Johto and probably a lot of other places in the world and if she wanted to go with him she had to be ready to fight on his level. It didn''t need to be now but she had to strive to be a better trainer to be able to defend herself because bad things are going after Himura and he didn¡¯t want her hurt. Ann would just say yes, make Himura fly her back home so she can take her back and a few things and they would go toward Johto, starting the next part of the story. Some notes: Blaze created move would be a dragon flamethrower that was super effective against fire, gras, water and electric but didn¡¯t do damage to other dragons. Valkyrie created move would be just a dragon type Hurricane that had double the chance to confuse pokemon and even a small chance to flinch. Bolt created move would be Spark Tail, an electric Move that would be especially super effective against things normally immune to electric type moves. Asura would have mastered 4 more new elemental fists, 2 which he could only use in double battle. Water and Flying punch for normal moves and Psychic and Dragon punch for the tag ones as he would need another pokemon to produce the energy to generate the move. The rest of the pokemon wouldn¡¯t use created moves until this point of the story.
