The First Titan. Chapter 01 Robin stood on the corner of a building in Star City, he was peering through a pair of binoculars at the dilapidated hotel across the street, he counted 3 guards patrolling the perimeter of the building, and another 1 on the 3rd floor would step out onto the balcony of 1 of the rooms every couple of minutes, Dick checked the clock on the binoculars hud, almost time, he dropped them into his belt. He attached the cord from his belt to the zipline he''d set up 30 minutes earlier, the other end was attached above the 3rd story balcony of the hotel, he ran towards the edge of the building and leaped off, he was carried forward across the street, the guard stepped out, Dick unclipped the cord, he rolled in the air, extended his leg, his foot connected with the mans face, his other foot caught the mans chest, they went down louder than he intended. "Shit" Dick muttered under his breath, he hoped none of the other guards heard, but the sound of footsteps moving down the hall told him he wasn''t so lucky, he hadn''t even considered there was more than 1 guard on the floor, the barrel of an assault rifle poked into the door, scanning the room, the 2nd guard crept cautiously forward, he turned to peek around the door, a metal escrima stick stabbed at the mans temple, shock barely registered before his eyes rolled back and he collapsed to the floor. The 3 guards moved toward the elevator as the numbers counted down, they had already radioed the 2 men on the 3rd floor and had received no response, now they stood in a semi-circle around the metal doors awaiting the metal box, finally, the number reached 1, the doors slid open, grey smoke poured out, the guard opposite the doors open fired straight into them, Dick flew through the air toward the man to the right of the doors, his feet struck the man''s stomach sending him into the wall, he kicked off into a roll, bouncing his escrima stick off the floor, the man on the opposite side of the room was struck in the chin, knocking him backward, before the stick bounced off the floor Dick had sprung back into the air, his right knee collided with the last man''s temple. With all 3 men down Dick collected his escrima stick and pulled a key card off 1 of the men and walked to the elevator, he stepped inside and pressed the card to a magnetic panel on the wall, it slid back to reveal a single button, "Secret floor here we come" He mashed the button and the doors slid shut. 20 seconds later the box jerked to a stop, the panel lit up and Dick pressed the card to it again, the doors slid open revealing a man wearing a white lab coat, he was pointing a handgun at Dick''s chest, the man fired 2 rounds, the first hit the left side of Dick''s chest, the second hit a panel by a door in the corridor, the door buzzed open, Dick tried sitting up but the bullet had penetrated his armor, he caught a glimpse of a large beast tearing at the mans flesh and then he was unconscious. A Gift Chapter 02 Dick came to on the concrete floor, his shoulder throbbing and blood-soaked, he slipped on the fresh blood as he got to his feet, for the first time he got a chance to survey the room, it was a long corridor with 15 doors on either side with another door across from the elevator, all the doors hung open, the rooms beyond were empty, each 1 looked like a small prison cell. On the floor lay what remained of the man in the lab coat barely recognizable as human, Dick walked to the door at the end, inside was basically empty except for a toilet and a fried laptop, as Dick exited the room he noticed a dark shape on the floor of a room labeled 30, he cautiously stepped into the room, laying on the floor was a pale teenage girl with dark hair, she was loosely covered with a cheap black blanket, under the blanket she was unclothed and aside from the girl it was the only thing in the room. The plane was ready when he got to the Wayne-tech private airport, he approached the plane where Alfred Pennyworth was waiting, "Master Grayson, are you ok?" Alfred asked, noticing Dick''s shoulder, "I''m fine" He answered climbing into the plane, he was on his way back to Gotham City. A Curse Chapter 03 "How dare you bring her here?" Bruce yelled his voice echoing off the rock walls of the Batcave, "You called me, for my help, you said to hurry back here, if you want me to leave then I''ll leave," Dick said through clenched teeth, his face red, "You didn''t tell me she was a freak," Bruce said finally turning to face him, "This coming from the guy who dresses up like a fucking Bat" Dick spat, "At least I am human" Dick was tired of Bruce''s shit. The Gate Chapter 04 Barbara and Dick arrived at the safe house after midnight, Dick unpacked the car while Barbara took the girl to 1 of the rooms, she had just laid her down on the bed when her hand shot up and wrapped around Barbara''s throat, "Who are you?" The girl was far smaller than Barbara, but easily lifted her off the bed. "Help" Barbara wheezed between gasps for air, jet black eyes stared back with indifference, and her fingers tightened around Barbara''s throat, Barbara grasped at the small knife in her belt, she gripped the handle slashing upward at the girl''s arm. Barbara hit the floor and rolled under the bed, there was a thud on the landing of the stairs outside a second later Dick burst through the door, his escrima in hand, "Barbara" He called out looking around the room, he saw the girl standing, shadowed beside the bed blood dripping from her arm "What happened? Are you ok? Where''s Barbara?" Dick asked keeping an eye on the girl, scanning the room again he approached her slowly, and suddenly she pitched forward and landed in a pile on the floor. The Dawn of The TItans Chapter 05 Dick bandaged Vav''s wound, he and Barbara had discussed restraints but since Vav had at least the appearance of a child neither could bring themselves to do it, so they decided just to keep their guards up, Dick agreed to watch over her to be sure nothing else happened. An hour after he had laid her back into the bed she woke up, this time she sat up and looked around the room, her light blue eyes stopped on Dick sitting in a wooden chair near the foot of the bed, "Who are you? where are we?" She asked, her voice timid and scared, "My name is Richard, We''re not trying to hurt you" He paused "I found you in an underground lab, right now we''re in a safe place in Metropolis" Her eyes narrowed in confusion, "What country is that?" She asked, "Metropolis is 1 of the biggest cities in America" Dick answered, "How did we get back to America so fast?" Barbara asked, she nodded, "That''s what they called her, they said it''s what I''m supposed to be" Her eyes wandered to a dark corner of the room, Barbara cleared her throat drawing the girl''s attention from the darkness. "What about you? you have to have a name, a family" Barbara had moved to the couch beside her, and after a second the girl shook her head, "I don''t know, I remember a woman, she was nice, I think they ate dinner together at night" She concentrated on the liquid in the mug in her hands "The doctors called me Project Raven, I could hear them talking about how I was failing" "Do you know what they wanted from you?" Barbara asked, "They wanted to control it, but I don''t how, even I don''t control it" Her eyes were heavy, the last hour catching up with her. "Maybe we should get you back to bed" Barbara suggested placing a hand on the girl''s shoulder "I don''t think Project Raven is a fitting name, We''ll need to come up with something better, like Alice or Rosie or something" recognition flashed in the girl''s eye''s when Barbara said, Alice, "Alice sounds familiar but I don''t remember from where, I guess I''m ok with Alice" She smiled a tired weary smile at Barbara, the building shook, the lights went out and the roof collapsed. Danger from the Sky Chapter 06 The second story had collapsed, Dick was trapped beneath a wooden beam, the air was thick with cement dust, ¡°Dick¡± Barbara yelled ¡°Dick, where are you?¡± Dick¡¯s head span, he heard Alice coughing, he opened his eyes and it took a second for them to focus, there was a pain in his upper back, ¡°Hey, are you ok?¡± The boy had appeared out of thin air beside Dick, he was thin and had burnt red skin with sandy brown hair, ¡°My name¡¯s Garfield, I can help you¡± ¡°No, it¡¯s too heavy, and you need to get out of here, I don¡¯t think this place is stable¡± Dick pushed against the ground trying to slide the beam off himself, Garfield slid his fingers around it and pulled up, to Dick¡¯s surprise it budged, after the slight movement it wouldn¡¯t go any further, ¡°Ok, give me a minute¡± Garfield slowly set the beam back down before running off disappearing into the thick air. Alice caught the outstretched staff and held it in place with strength that surprised the general, he fought to regain control and failed, the darkness shot through her hand and up the staff, it engulfed the general and he cried out in pain, a second later Alice was alone in the air above the street, the smell of burning flesh carried away by the breeze, Alice slowly descended back down to the ground, Barbara hurried over, worry etched into her face, ¡°Alice, are you ok?¡± She asked reaching a hand out hesitantly, Alice studied her like she had never seen her before, eventually she seemed to decide to trust her, ¡°My name is Raven, my head¡¯s a bit fuzzy at the moment, I think I¡¯m supposed to protect her¡± She looked at hands confused ¡°No, not Alice, but I don¡¯t remember, there¡¯s someone else, she wants to use Alice to turn your world into 1 that Trigon can inhabit and rule, but I don¡¯t think I can protect Alice from her¡± Barbara was about to ask her something but was interrupted by the sound of something passing fast high above them. A black and white blur shot down from the sky and landed on the ground with the sound of cracking asphalt, a dust cloud flew into the air around it, it cleared slowly revealing a girl with short black hair, she was crouched with 1 knee on the ground and the other foot flat on the ground to stabilize her, Dick, Barbara, and Garfield all recognized the diamond symbol on her chest, she studied them for a second before saying, ¡°I¡¯m looking for Kal-El.¡± Daughter of Krypton Chapter 8 ¡°I need to find Kal¡¯El son of Krypton¡± She said, Dick stepped forward raising his hands to show that they were empty, ¡°I can help, but nobody needs to get hurt, ok?¡± He said cautiously, her face turned to confusion, ¡°Why would anybody need to get hurt?¡± She asked, ¡°You¡¯re not here to kill him?¡¯He asked, ¡°No, of course not, why would I want to kill him?¡± Her voice cracked, Dick glanced at Barbara, ¡°I¡¯m sorry, like 90 percent of the people who come looking for him want to kill him, and usually it ends with a lot of innocent people hurt, at best¡± The Kryptonians eyes drifted to her feet, ¡°I¡¯m sorry to hear that, I¡¯m not here to hurt anyone, I promise¡± She said sadly, after a second her eyes returned to Dick with hope in them, ¡° You know Kal-El?¡± She asked unable to hide her relief and excitement, Dick''s shoulders dropped and he glanced again at Barbara, who nodded with a pitying expression. ¡°I¡¯m sorry¡± He started ¡°He died a week ago¡± The girls face hardened, ¡°Don¡¯t lie to me, I know he¡¯s here, I was just told he was here¡± She yelled, tears ran down her cheeks, then she continued quietly, ¡°A month ago, I was told he was here a month ago, but now he¡¯s gone¡± ¡°He¡¯s not lying to you¡± Barbara said softly as she offered the girl her phone, on the screen was a picture of Superman shaking hands with a former president next to articles reporting on his death. ¡°1 week, I missed him by 1 week¡± Her shoulders slumped back, and the phone slipped from her hand, ¡°Why do you need him?¡± Barbara asked stepping closer, ¡°10 years ago my home was destroyed and my family, my people were killed, I thought I was the last Kryptonian alive, until a month ago, I was told there was a Kryptonian living on earth, not only that but he was the son of Jor-EL, Jor-El was a great uncle who died in the destruction of Krypton before I was born, which meant not only was there a Kryptonian alive, but he was actually my family, and I missed him by 1 week¡± ¡°I¡¯m very sorry¡± Barbara pulled her into a hug ¡°I¡¯m Barbara, and I promise everything will be ok¡± ¡°I¡¯m Kara-ZorEl¡± She answered, her voice raspy from crying, ¡°It¡¯s gonna be ok Kara¡± Barbara assured her. Dick and Barbara bundled the 3 teenagers into the back of his car, he u-turned and sped down the abandoned street, ¡°Alice, are you ok?¡± Barbara asked half turned in the passenger''s seat, ¡°My head feels weird and I¡¯m really hungry¡± Alice muttered, her skin was back to being paper white and her eyes had returned to normal, ¡°We¡¯ll get something to eat, does your head hurt?¡± Barbara asked, ¡°No, maybe I¡¯m just tired¡± She answered, Barbara studied her face for a minute, she nodded, ¡°Ok, we¡¯ll see how you feel tomorrow, ok?¡± Alice nodded. When Alice woke up they were parked in front of a neon sign, she had crumbs and flakes from fast foot littering her shirt and pants, and empty burger wrappers at her feet, she had been leaning on Kara¡¯s shoulder who stirred when Alice sat up, Barbara was sitting in the passenger''s seat with her legs pulled up and and a jacket laid across her, she glanced back a Alice with a tired smile, ¡°Dick¡¯s inside, he¡¯s getting the rooms¡± She said quietly, a second later the drivers door was pulled open, Garfield shot up awake making a couple incoherent sounds before remembering where he was, ¡°I got 2 rooms, Garfield you take the bed I¡¯ll take the floor, you 3 have 2 beds, and that¡¯s up to you to work out¡± Dick said leaning in and handing Garfield and Alice the keys. We both know how you feel about meta-humans¡±Dick asked, hostility laced his voice, ¡°1 way or another meta-humans will be the death of us, but unlike others I can understand the necessity for such a group¡± Bruce explained ¡°Clark¡¯s death has created a Metropolis sized hole in the Justice League¡¯s security, we need to patch that hole and fast, if meta-humans are the patch we need, well, I can accept that¡± Dick smiled while shaking his head, ¡°With your funding you get to keep an eye on us¡± Dick knew Bruce was paranoid and would want to stay in control, ¡°Yes¡± Bruce said blatantly, ¡°Do you intend to accept the offer or not?¡± ¡°I¡¯m gonna need time to consider it¡± Dick answered, ¡°Fine, but don¡¯t keep me waiting long¡± Bruce warned ¡°Give Barbara my regards¡± He said jutting his chin into the room, Dick closed the door and returned to bed, he laid down beside Barbara, her eyes flickered half open, she yawned and stretched, Dick took the opportunity to pull the sheet from around her and pulled her close draping the sheet over both of them,her soft naked body snuggled in tight against him, steady breath on his bare neck. 9am That Morning, Dick sat in his joggers at the small table with a cup of coffee that was a little to hot due to the cheap hotel coffee maker, eventually Barbara woke up and threw on 1 of Dick¡¯s tee-shirts, it was large on her coming down a couple inches past the curve of her hips, she stepped over to the table and got a cup of coffee, she drank the coffee while Dick explained Bruce¡¯s visit earlier that morning, ¡°You don¡¯t think we should do it?¡± She asked when he was done, he ran his hands through his hair, ¡°I don¡¯t know, as much as I hate to admit it, I don¡¯t have any other ideas¡± He answered, frustrated, ¡°It sound¡¯s like our best option, I can¡¯t think of anything better¡± She agreed, he nodded but Barbara could tell he was still conflicted, she stood up and took his hands ¡°We can make this work¡± She assured him, he look up into her shinning green eyes through her thick rimmed black glasses, he nodded and kissed her right hand. He let go of her hands and took hold of the hem of her shirt, he pulled it up and over her head, once the shirt was gone she stood in front of him in the cold kitchenette naked except for her now crooked glasses, she place her hand on his bare shoulder as he discarded the shirt on the floor, he then slowly and softly kissed the side of her right breast, and then moved to the scar on her shoulder, then her neck, then up to her lips, before their lips met, he whispered, ¡°I love you.¡± By 11am they hadn¡¯t left bed, Dick was laying on his back in a pair of boxers, his head near the wall, while Barbara laid on her side leaning on her elbow, her head near the foot of the bed, ¡°You¡¯re sure we can do this?¡± Dick asked, watching her delicate feet wiggle, ¡°I think so¡± She answered, before adding ¡°As long as we¡¯re working it together¡± She smiled, ¡°You and me?¡± He smiled back, ¡°Always¡± Barbara repositioned herself against the wall like Dick, ¡°Then I¡¯ll call Bruce¡± He said, Barbara gave him a sly smile, ¡°You could, but first I believe you still owe me oral sex from last night¡± She parted her legs letting the shirt fall to expose herself to him, Dick leaned over and kissed her hard on the lips, ¡°I guess I better pay my debt then¡± He gave her another short kiss on the lips before moving down between her legs.
