《Twilight's Enchanted War》
Prologue
The planet of Twilight is unlike any other its land masses form together to become a supercontinent on which three distinct societies have formed; the Humans, the Elves, and the Dwarves. Although there are three known societies on this planet, the two societies that have dominated the planet with their influence are the Humans and the Elves.
The Humans, with their ears pointed upwards, live and control most of the landmass to the West that the Humans have named Terraninun. Totaling hundreds of cities and nearing a billion in population, Humans rule over this land, and the inhabitants, with their Primary Republic, in which the Human elected Primer rules for upwards to 13 years before needing to be re-chosen, to lead the Human lands of megalopolises and technological wonders.
To the East, the landmass known as Aurorath to the Elves, with their long ears pointed outward, the Elves rule over their land and its inhabitants by their form of Republican Monarchy, in which a high council of Elves choose the Reign to lead their country for that Reign¡¯s lifespan. Elven cities throughout the landmass of Aurorath number in the hundreds, although the population of Elves is slightly lower than that of Humans. Elven cities are megalopolises as well, but unlike Humans that are intertwined with metal and technology. Elven cities are built more to Elven routes of nature and stone, but they still utilize modern technology for all of the daily needs of the inhabitants.
The two grand landmasses of Human Terraninun and Elven Aurorath are split by the Emerald Expanse, an ocean of a greenish hue, within this ocean there are many islands with inhabitants known as the ¡®Unclaimed Lands¡¯ by both Humans and Elves alike. Both Humans and Elves have tried to push their influence on these islands competing with the other, but the islands have stayed relatively neutral for the most part. On those lines, the territory of the Dwarves, Sylvaria, consists of a Subcontinent Island in the southern hemisphere of the planet closer to the Eastern landmass of Aurorath, only separated by the Verdant Strait. The Dwarves¡¯ land is rich in resources that the Dwarves, with their ears pointed downwards, sell and export to both Human and Elven lands, the Dwarf country of Sylvaria is a true neutral between the Humans and the Elves.

Connecting the two landmasses by the north is a stretch of land know as the Veradigris Vale where Human and Elves lived on. This Veradigris Vale also happens to be the border of where Human Terraninum and Elven Aurorath lay. It was also in this area where the Enchanted War first broke out, a long peaceful land where once both Human and Elves lived now a ruined land by war.
For thousands of years, there were relatively peaceful times on Twilight, until the year 3137 when war had broken out between the Humans and the Elves and has been going on till the current year of 3151. At this point the war had entered a stalemate, as Human Forces and Elf Militants entered an island hopping campaign in the ¡®Unclaimed Lands¡¯, on the Seventh Month of 3151 the war had reached the island of Throndale, once a prosperous land now filled with the destruction of war.
On Throndale a small group of Human Forces led by Lieutenant Corporal Marvin ¡®Mig¡¯ Graves wanders through the destruction of the city after days of targeted artillery attacks, little does Mig know that Elf Militants led by Commander Miriel, are waiting for them.
Chapter 1- Ambush
Out by the countryside, of the Veradigris Vale, a small boy plays around, running through the open space smiling and having fun, as he notices the sun approaching midday he runs back to his home. As he runs back home he walks past the rubble of buildings and smoldering fire, he slows down as he sees the destruction around. By the time he gets back to his home, he sees armed Elf Militants shoot the Humans of his town. Worse as he looks into his home the boy sees his family get killed by those Elf Militants. Scared for his life he runs away back into the countryside.
In Throndale City on Throndale island at sunset, a squad of Human Forces soldiers sit around a campfire, next to the ruin of a building that has been destroyed by artillery fire, as the squad leader Lieutenant Corporal Marvin ¡®Mig¡¯ Graves wakes up from his quick nap. As Mig looks around he sees his Squad Medic Vincent Owens, a man of short stature and a dark complexion, cooking Meal Packs over the campfire.
¡°Well good to see you back up Mig¡±
¡°How long?¡±
¡°Calm down. It¡¯s been less than twenty minutes. The Meal Packs are nearly done¡±
Mig sits himself up as he unslings his Ethral Rifle off his shoulder, the fire lights up his face to show his light brown hair and greenish eyes, as he looks over to the food cooking.
¡°I guess I could eat. I haven¡¯t had a bit since the ship dropped us off on Throndale¡±
¡°Lord Almighty, Mig that was days ago. How didn¡¯t I notice?¡±
¡°Squad Leader got to look after his own, just cause we¡¯ve been shelling this island doesn¡¯t mean the Elves are fully gone yet¡±
Squad Medic Vincent Owens brings his hand to his head and wipes his bald head.
¡°You know Mig, you gotta learn to slow down. War is war, but you can¡¯t go about it with you at over capacity¡±
¡°My life is nothing but war. It¡¯s the only way I¡¯ve lived¡±
Vincent looks out at the food awkwardly as he calls out to the rest of the Squad Members to come eat.
The other Squad Members move over and sit around the campfire, Recon Operative Dimka Irwin, a lengthy man, grabs the first plate of rations for himself as Vincent passes Mig a plate of food. Next up Private Ji-Su Hayashi, the young new member of the squad, and Heavy Weapons Sergeant Levi Wesley, a man on the heavier side with a complexion darker than Vincent''s, each grab a plate and sit to eat.
The whole Squad enjoys the meal as Mig scarfs down his whole plate much to the amusement of the rest of them.
¡°Damn Mig, leave some bits for seconds for us¡±, said Dimka.
¡°Mig, I know it¡¯s been a few days since your last meal, but slow down¡±, exclaimed Vincent.
Sergeant Levi Wesley laughs at the commotion as he continues eating.
Ji-Su turns to Sergeant Wesley to ask him a question.
¡°Hey?¡±
¡°Yeah?¡±
¡°So the Lieutenant Corp. is a decorated soldier, right?¡±
¡°Mig? Yeah, one of the best in the field. He¡¯s the highest rank one could be before General, and I hear that he is up the running for a promotion¡±
¡°Right. So then why does everyone call him ¡®Mig¡¯ if he has such respect¡±
¡°You¡¯re fresh off right?¡±
¡°Yes sir, I finished my Training and this is the first Squad I was shipped to¡±
¡°And you weren¡¯t told why?¡±
¡°No. That¡¯s why I¡¯m asking¡±
A smile forms on Sergeant Wesley¡¯s face: ¡°Oh, I know why don¡¯t you ask Mig yourself¡±
¡°What?¡±
Sergeant Wesley turns over to Mig eating his third plate of food and yells out to him: ¡°Hey Mig the newbie wants to know the story behind your nickname¡±
Mig stands up and looks at Ji-Su: ¡°You want to know about my name, well I¡¯ll tell you. Back when I was fresh in Training I had the disservice of saying my full name Marvin Increrio Graves. I bet you can abbreviate¡±
¡°Marvin Increrio Graves. M. I. G. Mig?¡±
¡°Yeah. That one little mistake on my first day led to a lifelong nickname. Although I don¡¯t mind it as much anymore. So don¡¯t be afraid to call me Mig if you want, kid¡±
Mig looks up at the setting sun: ¡°Alright it''s about night time, clean up your trays and lay out your sleep bags. I¡¯ll take first night watch.
The night comes and goes as at the break of dawn the Squad clear up their campground and set off more inland until they reach the ruins of Throndale City. As they walk through the ruins of rubble and destroyed buildings they look around at the destruction and dead bodies of Humans, Elves, and the island inhabitants.

¡°Fucking hell. I thought we got our people out of here in time, before the shelling¡±, said Dimka.
¡°Not everyone makes it¡±, said Mig.
¡°At least most of the Humans that could, got evacuated off Throndale¡±, said Sergeant Wesley.
¡°No time to dawdle, we have to move. If we can confirm no presents of Elves left on this island then it¡¯s a Human victory¡±, told Mig.
As the Squad marches forward through the jungle and rubble of Throndale City, little do they know that across the city Mig¡¯s Squad is being watched by a Division of Elf Militants. A small force of special ops, led by Commander Miriel, she is among the best commanders within the Elf Militants; she stands tall with fair white skin and long blonde hair. Unlike the combat gear the Elf Militants wore, her outfit was not fully that of a commanding officer. Miriel turns over to the Scout Officer in her unit.
¡°You have sight on anything, Thalion?¡±
Thalion geared in the Elven Whispering Cloak, a set of garments that temporarily turns the wearer invisible, looking through the magically enhanced bispecs: ¡°Nothing yet Commander. Although I see some movements, cannot confirm if they are human. I could try and get closer¡±
¡°Easy up there Thalion. Do not overuse your Whispering Cloak you know Human Phantom Drone can see the signature of it¡±
¡°I have not seen any fly around or any other Human aircraft. Those Humans think that since they have been bombing this Unclaimed Land all Elf Militants have either been killed or fled¡±
¡°Humans are not that simple. I know I have been fighting them for years¡±
¡°They are from what I have encountered¡±
Thalion looks over the ruined cityscape as he sees Mig¡¯s Squad in clear view. He calls over to Commander Miriel.
¡°Commander. Movement. Human Forces confirmed. Standard Squad¡±
¡°Let me see¡±
Thalion hands the bispecs to Commander Miriel as she looks at Mig and his Squad pacing through Throndale City.
¡°Shall we move forward to strike them, Commander?¡±
¡°Hold on. The leader of that Squad is a Lieutenant Corporal, that is the second highest rank within the Human Forces, if we capture him we could take information from him. It seems as if they are heading eastbound. We shall move out and corner them¡±
¡°Yes Commander¡±, exclaims the Elves in Commander Miriel¡¯s unit.
¡°Keep the leader alive. I leave the rest to your discretion¡±
The Elf Militants move out ahead of where Mig and his Squad are going and set up an uphill ambush waiting for the clueless Human Forces.
As Mig and his Squad advance they all keep their weapons raised at a ready stance, Mig leads with his Ethral Rifle pointed outwards turning from side to side and making sure the way is cleared of any presence. The further the Human Forces get the fewer signs there are of life until Mig¡¯s Squad reaches an uphill staircase.
¡°Alright men, extra caution going up. Dimka, Levi, I want you two upfront, scope, and assess the area ahead¡±
¡°Got it, Mig¡±
¡°Roger that, Mig¡±
Both the Recon Operative Dimka Irwin and the Heavy Weapons Sergeant Levi Wesley head up the staircase carefully looking around until they reach the top. While on the top they see nothing as Dimka turns back to give the all-clear.
¡°Hey Mig everything looking good up here¡±
¡°Alright, Vincent, head on up¡±, said Mig.
¡°Kid you¡¯re by me¡±
¡°Yes sir. Um Mig Sir¡±, nervously exclaimed Ji-Su.
¡°Mig would be just enough, but sorry Hayashi you still need to prove your worth for my respect to call you by your first name like the others¡±
¡°I¡¯m fresh out of Training, but I don¡¯t lack skills¡±
¡°Well let¡¯s hope this isn¡¯t a place where we have to see any action¡±
Mig and Ji-Su begin to go up the stairs as they do, everyone stops when they hear a noise. Dimka turns around and sees Sergeant Wesley slump on the ground. Dimka approaches Sergeant Wesley.
¡°Levi, what¡¯s the matter? Levi? Wesley, you better not be fucking with me¡±
Dimka reaches down to inspect Sergeant Wesley¡¯s body.
¡°Shit, Levi¡¯s dead. Mig there¡¯re Elves about¡±, yelled Dimka.
Looking from the direction of where Sergeant Wesley was shot. Dimka sees a faint silhouette of a figure, without second thought Dimka moves to open fire and manages to kill an Elf Militant and injure the Elf Militants next to him.
Back on the middle of the staircase Vincent gets down and readies his weapon as next to him lands a round object. Before Vincent can identify and react to it, the grenade explodes, killing him and knocking Mig and Ji-Su down the stairs. The remaining three Humans fight Dimka at the top of the staircase next to Sergeant Wesley¡¯s body Dimka grabs Wesley¡¯s weapon and tries to shoot any Elf he sees. At the bottom of the staircase, Mig and Ji-Su are ready to fight as the Elf Militants near them attempt to attack in close combat with Elven Quarterdaggers, one of those Elves being Miriel.
Mig and Ji-Su fight Miriel and the Elf Militants surrounding the two of them, as Dimka stands his ground at the top of the staircase. Mig hands his knife to Ji-Su as Mig fights with his bare hands.
Up at the top of the staircase, it¡¯s not looking good for Dimka as he has taken fire from Elven Crossbows and Rifles. Lucky Dimka manages to kill a few Elf Militants before he is killed by the remaining Elves. At the bottom of the staircase Mig and Ji-Su hear Dinka¡¯s gunfire end as they know he went down fighting leaving just the two of them to deal with this ambush.
Backed into a corner, both metaphorically and literally, Mig hatches a plan, he turns to Ji-Su: ¡°Kid, I have a plan. You¡¯re going to make it out of here¡±.
¡°What? How?¡±
¡°These Elves seem to only be fighting close-quarter combat, and that Elf lady over there seems like their commander. So when I say so I want you to throw my combat knife at her, then I will distract the remaining Elves around us giving you a chance to run for it¡±
¡°Wait, what about you, Mig? I can¡¯t leave you¡±
¡°A Squad Leader¡¯s task is to look after his team, even if there is only one left. You¡¯ll make it out¡±
¡°Alright Mig, I trust you¡±
Mig reaches down to his side as he grips the pistol in his leg strap: ¡°Ready on my mark¡Mark¡±
Ji-Su throws the combat knife just barely scraping Commander Miriel¡¯s shoulder as Mig shoots the two Elves in front of him. Mig turns to shoot Miriel as Ji-Su makes a run toward the forest. An Elf Militant at the top of the staircase shoots the pistol out of Mig¡¯s hand and he then shoots Ji-Su through his head. Mig watches as Ji-Su¡¯s body falls over. Mig falls to the ground as he has failed.
Mig looks around as he tries to think of a solution: ¡°I can charge her, but then I¡¯ll be open to those Elves on the high ground. Do I use magic? No, the pistol¡¯s Halo Rounds already took a lot out of me. There¡¯s nothing I can do¡±
Miriel walks over to him: ¡°You took down a third of my unit. That is impressive, although I should have expected such from a well-regarded Lieutenant Corporal such as yourself Mr. Graves¡±
¡°Don¡¯t waste my remaining time with talk, just kill me already¡±
Commander Miriel uses magic to summon a baton of Elven crystal and hits Mig over his head with it: ¡°Oh no we have plenty more talking to do¡±
Chapter 2- Interrogation and Information
A small child runs through the thick forest as the sun slowly sets, the more he runs the less he can hear the sounds of destruction. The child ran long into the night until he couldn¡¯t run anymore, he collapsed from exhaustion into a bush. There the boy lay hidden in the bush as the sound of footsteps and vehicle tracks passed by, along with the occasional gunfire. The boy on the ground waited quietly afraid as he had no idea what was happening or who was around him.
A few days after the ambush in Throndale in a small stone room with a dim lamp hanging from the ceiling illuminating the area under the light, a chair. In that chair sat Mig tied, unconscious until a male Elf entered the room.
Ryn, a slim Dark Elf in Elf Militant uniform, his short silver hair shined within the dimness of the room. As he approaches Mig in the chair he takes a stun baton from his person and hits Mig across the face.
The hit is able to wake Mig up as he takes in the place he is in: ¡°What the? Is this Hell?¡±
¡°No, you it is not, although if you do not comply it will be¡±
Ryn hits Mig with the stun baton again, causing Mig to bleed.
¡°I will say to you Humans every so often built quite the most fascinating devices. This stun baton of you Humans is quite good. I took it off some Humans Forces some time ago, I took a fancy to it and have been using it ever since. What do you have to say, Human¡±
¡°You¡¯re using it wrong¡±
¡°You think I do not know how it works¡±, said Ryn as he angrily hit Mig with the stun baton, this time activating the weapon and hitting Mig with the electric current of the baton.
¡°Weak charge¡±, says Mig as he spits out blood from his mouth.
¡°You Humans¡±, Ryn repeatedly hits Mig with the stun baton, as Mig¡¯s face becomes bruised and bloody.
Mig gasps for air as Ryn moves from enjoyment of torturing Mig to a more serious demeanor to question Mig.
¡°Now Human. I will ask you questions and you will answer them. Do you understand that Human¡±
Mig doesn¡¯t react to Ryn¡¯s statements.
¡°Now Human, what are the next movements of your Human Forces? More Crusader Battleships have shown up to take whatever was left of that Unclaimed Land. I am aware your task on that island was to assess it for Human claiming. Now what is the next movement¡±
Mig opens his mouth as he speaks: ¡°Lieutenant Corporal Marvin Increrio Graves, Nickname Mig, Human Forces Service ID Number 124875¡±
¡°Humans are always so complicated, I will ask again. What is the next Human Forces movement¡±
Through heavy breathing, Mig spoke: ¡°Lieutenant Corporal Marvin Increrio Graves, Nickname Mig, Human Forces Service ID Number 124875¡±
¡°It seems I was not clear enough. This time I will ask harder¡±
Ryn hits Mig with the stun baton as he forces the baton into Mig¡¯s mouth, the electric current tases Mig. When Ryn takes the stun baton back Mig spits out blood and teeth.
¡°Lieutenant Corporal. Marvin Increrio Graves. Nickname Mig. Human Forces. Service ID. Number. 12. 48. 75¡±
¡°Now Human, I will not repeat a third time. Answer the question¡±
¡°Lieutenant¡¡±, Mig is cut off as Ryn hits Mig¡¯s face with the stun baton.
¡°You Humans. I do not know why the Commander insists on keeping you alive, for some small information. A useful Human is a dead one, although I do not have the liberty to partake in your death as the Commander ordered against it¡±
¡°Corporal Marvin Increrio¡¡±
¡°You are still defiant, how is this to what I think about you¡±
Ryn jabs the stun baton into Mig¡¯s stomach causing Mig to spit up in his mouth, stinging the bleeding open wounds in his mouth.
¡°I may not be able to kill you, although I can break you physically before we try again to get information, which may break you mentally¡±
¡°Graves. Nickname Mig¡¡±
¡°You are just making this more enjoyable¡±
Ryn begins to beat Mig with the stun baton, Ryn hits Mig¡¯s face as Ryn then slams the stun baton onto Mig¡¯s hands.
After two long hours of beating Ryn steps back from Mig as he sits covered in his blood, bruises, and burns from the stun baton.
¡°Ready to talk?¡±
Mig breathed heavily as he spat to his left as he was about to answer with the same response he had been giving the last few hours Ryn received a call from his Elven Communicator.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
¡°Yes. Commander, what seems to be the issue? No ma¡¯am. Commander give me more time. I can complete my tasks. Yes I understand, Commander¡±
Ryn puts his Elven Communicator away as he heads for the door, but before he leaves he turns back towards Mig.
¡°You got lucky, if you had answered me you would not have to face the Commander, and she is not as friendly as I have been¡±
Ryn steps out of the small stone room, leaving Mig in the lone light of the ceiling lamp. Mig slumps his head to get some rest after the hours-long torture session, but that rest is cut short as the door to the room is opened once more.
Commander Miriel enters. She approaches Mig, who is tied in the chair, her long blonde hair swaying with her movement. Miriel reaches Mig as she goes to backhand slaps him to wake up.
The small boy hidden in the bush afraid of what might happen is found as the person approaches the bush they get down on their knees and open the bush to find the boy. The boy looks up as the person is a Human Forces soldier, they reach out their hand toward the boy, but before he takes it. Mig is thrust back and fully awake from Miriel¡¯s backhand slap, Miriel talks to Mig.
¡°Mr. Graves, a Lieutenant Corporal. Quite the high rank, although mayhaps you would like to be addressed less formally. What was it that your Squad Members were calling you? Mig right? You would not mind if I addressed you as such would you?¡±
In anger from hearing Miriel speak Mig uttered his first real sentence since awoken in this place.
¡°I won¡¯t say a word. I would rather die than say a word to you or any one of you Elves. Not after your kind started this war¡±
¡°Now now you will test my patience if you do not comply¡¡±
Miriel steps back in slight confusion and glances at Mig with some suspicion.
¡°Wait. What do you mean? Why do you think this war was started by us?¡±
Mig remains silent with a stern look on his face.
Miriel gets closer to Mig with a sincere look on her face: ¡°Tell me, truthfully, why do you believe that?¡±
¡°I was there all those years ago. Elves from my town started disappearing, then one day your kind, Elf Militants, came marching through and opening fire. Many in the town fought back, but I and few others made it with our lives. Ever since then, I joined the fight to get revenge¡±
Miriel stares at Mig with a look of sorrow and intrigue.
¡°So you are from the Veradigris Vale. I am sorry that is not what happened. The war was not started by us, we were attacked first¡±
Miriel walks towards the door before sorrowfully turning back to Mig.
¡°I wish there was more you could have said than I might have said more, although know this. The war was not started by us¡±
Mig sits in silence as Commander Miriel exits the room. Outside the room, two Elf guards wait by the sides of the door.
¡°Commander¡±, said one of the Elf guards while raising his hand to salute Miriel.
¡°Do not enter this room. I will be back later for more talks with the prisoner¡±
Commander Miriel walks off towards her quarters. Once inside she looks around and finds papers and books scattered around.
¡°Still how I left it. Good¡±
Miriel sits on her bed as she begins to think about the short talk she had with Mig: ¡°That Lieutenant Corporal, Mig, it seemed as if he fully believed his words. Why would he believe such a falsity¡±
Miriel looks over at her desk and sees documents about humans.
¡°Humans need to eat more frequently than us Elves. How long has it been since he was brought here¡±
Miriel stands up from her bed as she goes and looks over most of the documents, about humans, the war, and history, on her desk. After some time has passed without Miriel noticing she remembers that she should check on Mig.
¡°I think there are some food items on site that are suitable for humans¡±
Miriel exits her quarters and heads to the pantry to get some food for Mig. Once she had found some food that Mig could eat, she headed over to the room he was kept in, with a tray of food and a portable stand to place it on. She reaches the room and asks the Elf guards to let her pass, the Elf guards stand aside as Miriel enters the room. When she does Mig looks up at her as Miriel places the portable stand and food tray. She frees Mig¡¯s arms so that he can eat.
¡°Take it. Peace can be an option. Although do not attempt anything¡±
Mig looks at the plate of food, it had been a good long while since he had last eaten, but he looks more shocked at the food than hungry. Mig looks back up at Miriel with a slightly smug expression on his face.
¡°I didn¡¯t know that your kind kept Human food. Normally you all don¡¯t take prisoners¡±
¡°I am full of surprises¡±
Miriel leans against the wall of the room as Mig looks at the food somewhat suspiciously, Miriel notices Mig¡¯s hesitation.
¡°Not what you expected, were you thinking something more in line with torture or hard interrogation? It is none of that. Eat, it is fine¡±
Mig takes a bit of the food.
¡°See fine is it not? There is mercy among us Elves. Not all of us are savages¡±
¡°I can see, but that doesn¡¯t mean you will get information out of me with this act¡±
Miriel looks slightly disappointed with Mig¡¯s answer, but she expected as much.
¡°Yes. You are right. I will not get any information this way. Although it was worth a try¡±
Miriel walks closer to Mig as she reaches for something in her pocket, a vial of some kind of liquid, she opens the vial and brings it close to Mig.
¡°Then let me try something else. This will help you reveal your truths¡±
Miriel places the vial under Mig¡¯s nose as the strong smell fills the room and stings Mig¡¯s nostrils. Miriel then forces Mig to drink the liquid from the vial. Mig after being forced to take the liquid is put into a semi-trance as Miriel goes to ask questions.
¡°Now, why do you hate us, Elves¡±
Mig struggles as he tries not to talk, but is unable to as he speaks: ¡°Your kind entered my town, my home, and killed my family and everyone else I knew. I was a child. I was barely able to escape. I was found by Human Forces, then since I was able to I joined the Human Forces and rose through the ranks¡±
¡°I am sorry for what happened. Although you mentioned that you are from the Veradigris Vale so there were Elves where you used to live. So I want to know, do you truly hate Elves?¡±
¡°Yes¡ No? I¡¯m not sure. I should, but after years of fighting along with my past I think I have grown a respect for the enemy¡±
¡°That is good to hear¡±, said Miriel with a slight glee on her face.
¡°What¡¯s going on? Why can¡¯t I keep myself quiet?¡±
¡°The contents of that vial you drank is a special concoction. It aims to put anyone in a susceptible trance. I am able to get the truth out of you, although you seem to be trying to resist. That is well, with you under this trance there are other means to get information from you¡±
Chapter 3- Reveals
Miriel gets close to Mig¡¯s face, as her breath reaches his face, Mig can¡¯t help but feel strange. Miriel whispers into Mig¡¯s ears.
¡°You Humans, so weak when it comes to your desires. Why do you not just give in to it?¡±
¡°It¡would be¡easy¡±
¡°Yes dear Mig, it would be simple and you could tell me all you know¡±
Through his eyes Mig sees a different world, not the small room he is being tortured in, but a world perfect for him, a nice home in the countryside. In front of him is not the Elf Militant Commander Miriel, but through Mig¡¯s influenced eyes he sees a beautiful woman that he believes is his wife. Miriel engages in a kiss with Mig, and the look on his face seems like one lost in temptation. Until a small gleam in Mig¡¯s eyes shines through, after Miriel lets go of her kiss Mig is somewhat less tranced.
¡°Wait¡this isn¡¯t¡ No! You won¡¯t get me to talk through seduction¡±, said Mig as he looked around the false world disappearing and seeing what was really in front of him.
Miriel steps back in confusion as Mig seemingly breaks out of the trance he is in.
¡°That cannot be. The drug should be working. Perhaps I pushed him too far. Let me try once more¡±
Miriel goes back to asking Mig questions about his past to get to know him better and learn more about him and his beliefs. Mig who once seemed free of the trance falls slightly back into a funk as Miriel changes her attempt to get information.
¡°Tell me, what was your lost family like?¡±
¡°Uh¡My family? They were good people. I loved them dearly, and I could never forget the moment I saw them lying on the floor of our home, dead, with Elf Militants standing over their bodies. When those Elves spotted me I ran away. I hid until I was found by Human Forces¡±
Miriel views Mig with sympathy, she gently strokes Mig¡¯s head to comfort him.
¡°That must have been traumatic, you were a child at the time, seeing everyone you love lose their lives. Do you still carry this pain?¡±
¡°Every day. I still think about them. This is why I fight in this war so that no one else has to suffer the same pain I do¡±
Small tears flow from Mig¡¯s eyes as Miriel gently brushes the tears off of Mig. She looks at him with a swirl of emotions and sympathy. Unsure why Miriel opens up to Mig and reveals some about herself.
¡°I truly understand what you have been through. I have lost those close to me through this war. My dear sister was an early casualty of this war. She was sent to check up on some unknown reports within towns and cities across the Veradigris Vale. During one of these checkups in one of these towns, she and the Elf Militants there had encountered hostile Human Forces¡±
Mig looks up at Miriel and he can see she is holding back her own tears from her story. Mig, although trying not to, sympathizes with Miriel, but he can¡¯t help but find oddities and familiarities within Miriel¡¯s story.
¡°Those Human Forces opened fire and fought with the Elf Militants that were in that town. Many Elves were able to escape, although my sister was not one of them. Those who escaped reported the event and shortly after the Enchanted War began¡±
¡°So you and I are alike, huh.¡±, said Mig sarcastically.
¡°I am saying I can understand what you went through. After my sister was lost in combat, I quickly joined the Elf Militant, to get answers and find closure for her¡±
¡°So, our pasts are similar. I think I would prefer the beating from before to these mind games and emphatic attacks¡±
¡°I tell the truth, not as a means to trick you. As a way to relate to you, for you said something earlier that I too believe. I fight so that others do not have to fight, I aim to see a world where this war is over and no one has to go through the pains of war¡±
Mig looks at Miriel with a look of endearment as he sees that Miriel is genuine in what she says, but Mig quickly moves to hide his expression from her. He doesn¡¯t want Miriel to see him agreeing with her, he would fear that it could be used as a weakness against him.

¡°Even if I believe you, what¡¯s the point, I¡¯m not going to speak. You won¡¯t get information about the Human Forces out of me. So why don¡¯t you just stop wasting time and get me over with? I¡¯m no use to you. Get it done quickly¡±
¡°I am not going to kill you. Both of us know that by now. I am far more interested in learning more about you, you have piqued my interest. Although I may not have gotten as much as I would have liked, know this if you were to speak more to me I may be able to help you as well¡±
¡°I¡¯m no traitor and you don¡¯t look like one either¡±
¡°I believe that is enough time for today. Think about my offer will you not¡±
Miriel unties Mig from the chair, but leaves his hands cuffed, as she begins heading towards the door she is halted by Mig.
¡°You say Humans attacked Elves, I know I saw Elves attack Humans. Now what happened on the Veradigris Vale, how did this war begin¡±
Miriel gives Mig one more look before she exits the room leaving Mig to his thoughts and the night.
Miriel walks back to her quarters, with the words of Mig ringing throughout her mind, she sits on her desk ready for bed. Before she can sleep the thought of the war would not leave her mind.
¡°I have never been one to leave an unknown be. He claims that us Elves attacked first, preposterous, although he does say he is from the Veradigris Vale area. So he would have seen firsthand the breakout of this war. Within his story, Elf Militants were already attacking his town as he fled it wasn¡¯t until hours later that he was found by Human Forces¡±
A sudden thought enters Miriel¡¯s mind, one that shouldn¡¯t make sense, but a thought which persists to fill Miriel¡¯s growing understanding of the start of the war.
¡°Mig was taken by the Human Forces that found him. Yet he did not say anything about those Human Forces engaging in combat. If Elves attacked that town they would have kept it, so why was there no engagement between the Human Forces and Elf Militants at that time¡±
Miriel turns to her note-filled desk, she spends a small portion of the night looking through her documents.
Back in Mig¡¯s room as he sits on the chair, his thoughts are the only thing keeping him company. In the middle of his thoughts, he thinks about his past that he remembers well and then changes his thoughts to Miriel.
¡°That story that she was telling me; I know there were many conflicts on the Veradigris Vale, but she speaks of her story as if it was the start of the war. To my knowledge that¡¯s not how the first recorded battle of the war went. I know. I studied that battle for years¡±
Mig thinks back to his time on a Human Forces base. He was a young child at the time confused and scared as he and a few other survivors were being taken care of. A few days after Mig was brought to the Human Forces¡¯ Shadowfalls Fort, alarms went off as orders came for all active troops on the base to be ready to move out for combat. Mig watched as Human Forces personnel moved left and right getting ready to head out for a fight. By the next day''s end, the first battle of the Enchanted War had been fought and won by the overwhelming Human Forces troops sent.
Such a victory came by capturing the Elf Miliants off-guard, using the new next-generation weapons, some Human creations and others bought from the Dwarves, the Elves in that town had outdated weapons even by their standards, almost as if they weren¡¯t standard Elf Mililant Division, but they fought to keep the captured town nonetheless. The Human Forces were able to take back the town with minimal loss. Once the town was clear of any active threats a small force of Chimera Tanks and Rail Artillery were placed around the town to ensure that retaliation by the Elves would not be easy. At the same time, reports were sent back to Primer Christoffel, who began to mobilize more Human Forces into the Veradigris Vale.
Afterward, when a portion of the troops were sent back to Shadowfalls Fort, Mig asked the highest rank officer of the base if he could be taken in and taught military training. The base officer refused but saw the potential conviction in Mig¡¯s eyes. With slight pity and determination for potential, the base officer agreed to take in Mig and teach him until he was of age to enlist, by the time Mig was he was already a competent individual who had no problems showing his skills and earning promotions.
Back in the present, Mig moves from his thoughts of the past back to Miriel¡¯s story.
¡°Some details of her story match the reports of other battles, yet similarities between both my memories and her story are clear. Something about this war isn¡¯t adding up. Is it true or is she playing tricks with my mind?¡±
Mig lost in his thoughts drifts on into a sleep, some rest that he hasn¡¯t fully gotten since he was first brought into this place.
Come the morning Miriel wakes up on her desk surrounded by her documents and notes, she gets up and readies herself for the day. After changing from her night clothes to her Commander¡¯s uniform she heads out of her quarters to retrieve some food for Mig.
Miriel greets the Elf guards in front of Mig¡¯s room as she enters to hand Mig the food for him. Placing the food in front of Mig and releasing his hands, she steps back and gives Mig a studious look.
¡°Well, did you do any thinking about my offer?¡±
¡°Did you? You look like you were up all night¡±
Taken aback and slightly blushing, Miriel moves past Mig¡¯s comment.
¡°Do not tread with me. I will not take any of it lightly¡±
¡°This war, it was one of self-defense, wasn¡¯t it?¡±
¡°That is well known. So what point do you have¡±
¡°Who struck first? From the short talk we had. You Elves think it was us Humans, and we Humans think it was you Elves. What if both sides are wrong?¡±
Chapter 4- Unlikely Teamwork
Mig¡¯s question rings in Miriel¡¯s mind as she thinks back to all the notes and documents she was looking over last night. Miriel¡¯s lips twitch as she gets closer to Mig, once near enough she lets out a huff of her breath and turns to Mig, as he eats the food in front of him, she looks at him.
¡°You are right¡ There could be another side to all of this¡±
Mig looks slightly confused that Miriel actually agrees with what he said.
¡°I looked into the start of the war and found some anomalies¡±
As Mig finishes eating the food Miriel gets up close to him to untie him from the chair. Mig stands up to stretch his legs after days of being in that chair. Mig then turns to Miriel with a stern look on her face as if she is wondering if this is the right thing to do.
¡°Come with me. Stay close and do not try anything. Got it¡±
Mig nods his head as he follows Miriel out of the room, but before they can get far they are stopped by the two Elf Guards; Liora and Kieran.
¡°Commander, what¡¯s going on?¡±
¡°Where are you taking the Human?¡±
¡°Concern yourselves not, I finally got him to give information. Now I must honor my side of the offer¡±
¡°Offer? Commander, what do you mean?¡±
¡°Do you two not trust me and my decisions? This is for the betterment of all¡±
¡°Of course Commander, we would never doubt you¡±
¡°Good now, although I and him have an agreement for information, I still need the two of you to stand guard outside my quarters¡±
¡°Your quarters? Commander, may I ask what you will do?¡±
¡°You two do not need to know, yet, if I succeed, I shall let you two know. If not then there is no need to be concerned¡±
¡°Very well, Commander, we will stand guard¡±
¡°As well as stand by you¡±
¡°As you should¡±
Miriel and Mig walk off to Miriel¡¯s quarters as they enter, Mig turns around to comment on Miriel.
¡°Lead by fear, huh¡±
¡°I lead by respect. Those two respect me dearly and swear loyalty¡±
¡°If you say so¡±, said Mig as he looked around Miriel¡¯s quarters, the mess that it was.
¡°Nice place you keep. You can really tell a person by how they keep their room¡±
¡°Silence, I understand my duties better this way. Besides, one can judge the worth of a person more by their actions than their appearance¡±, said Miriel as she walked over to her desk to rifle through the documents and her notes.
It doesn¡¯t take long before Miriel finds what she is looking for. She takes the documents and notes and presents them to Mig.
¡°What¡¯s all this?¡±
¡°What you said to me before I left kept pondering in my mind. So I searched to find an explanation or answer. You should read the yourself¡±
Mig begrudgingly takes the documents from Miriel as he reads them. As Mig reads the documents his eyes widen as he looks at the record dates of Elf and Human combat.
¡°That can¡¯t be right. The same day my hometown was attacked, by Elves, a different town elsewhere on the Veradigris Vale was attacked by Humans¡±
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Mig realizes the anomaly that the documents claim about that day Mig remembers when: ¡°That¡¯s not possible the only and largest Human base on the Veradigris Vale is Shadowfalls Fort and the only time Human Forces troops moved was when they found me and the town and a few days after that when the war officially began¡±
¡°I believed that to be the case. Towns across Veradigris Vale were attacked so when the eventuality of confrontation¡±
¡°Both sides fought, thinking the other¡¯s the aggressor. And most who would have seen it first hand would have been killed during the first battles of the war¡±
¡°No one would be around to know or question the start of this war and with no chance of communication between Humans and Elves, there is no way any truth could come to light¡±
¡°But how could this happen? Why did this happen? Have these years of war been for nothing?¡±
¡°No, this changes everything. It seems our facts and histories have been rewritten or, worse, covered up to fuel the fear and hatred of this war. Although, if we work together, we could expose the truth. We could end this war¡±
Mig looks at Miriel with slight skepticism about her intentions: ¡°Us? Work together, why?¡±
¡°We share similar views. We both want to see a world after this war, one where there is peace, one where those do not have to suffer the pain that we have¡±
¡°Do you truly believe this could work?¡±
Miriel meets Mig in his eyes, with a stern determination in her eyes, so much so that Mig is taken aback by it. Mig however does not advert from her unflinching gaze, he meets her as an equal.
¡°It has to work. We have nothing left to lose by trying to end this war. If we can collect enough evidence and present them to the leadership of both sides, then they might listen¡±
Miriel walks over to Mig and in a show of solidarity and sincerity she places her hand on his shoulder: ¡°And when all this war is over, mayhaps there could be peace between our people, not just the end of conflict, but an opportunity for true understanding between us. So will you help me?¡±
Mig ponders as he then turns his face to look directly at Miriel with the same expression she had moments ago.
¡°I don¡¯t think I can forgive what your kind did to mine, but this war has to end to prevent any more loss of life. I¡¯ll help you¡±
The expression on Miriel¡¯s face softens from her anxious anticipation as a smile forms on Miriel¡¯s face as she wholeheartedly thanks Mig. Miriel reaches around to her back and she pulls out an Elven Dagger, which she turns around to place on Mig¡¯s hand. Mig grabs the hilt of the dagger as he sees the symbolic gesture of trust.
¡°We can make history together, Mig, and then true change will come¡±
¡°Alright, I agree with you that we must find a way to end this war, but how am I going to get out of here? Get back to my people, you can¡¯t just walk me out¡±
Miriel places her hands on Mig¡¯s shoulders: ¡°Do not worry, you have everything you need. Come night you will find a way to flee¡±
Mig tucks the dagger into the back of his pants as Miriel waves for the doors to her quarters to open. The two guards Liora and Kieran enter to take Mig back to his room.
Once those two drop Mig off they head back to Miriel¡¯s quarters as she stops them to inform them of an important task.
¡°You two, there is a high chance that the human might escape his room and come to my quarters in the night¡±
¡°What?¡±
¡°How is this Commander?¡±
¡°Do not fret, I had planned this. I need you two to keep watch, do not engage or stop him unless I order so. Understood¡±
¡°Yes Commander¡±
¡°We will keep watch¡±
¡°Good. Now to work I must prepare as well¡±
Back in the room, Mig paces around as he waits for nightfall, still unsure of how he will make his escape. Mig places his hands on his hip when he feels the dagger. He reaches for the dagger and pulls it out to look closely at it. A dark bronze color combined with a copper green hue with an engraved hilt of either former Elven holders or names of those killed by the dagger. Along the actual blade an engraving of some Ancient Elven Place.
While observing the dagger, Mig looks at the door to the room as he understands that the dagger isn¡¯t entirely a symbolic gesture.
¡°Well I guess this thing was more than a sharp paperweight¡±
Mig in his room takes the dagger and goes closer to the door as he uses the dagger to pick the lock of the door. Once Mig is able to unlock the door he heads out of his room and down the halls of the Elven Facility: Verdentrech. He heads down the path he remembers from earlier that day, while unbeknownst to Mig he is being watched by Liora and Kieran from a moderate distance. Moving down the halls Mig comes face to face with the door to Miriel¡¯s quarters, finding it unlocked Mig enters.
Miriel, in her night clothes, waiting by her desk as she sees Mig enter with the dagger in his hand. Miriel is slightly startled as she looks at Mig, she then turns her gaze to a more studious look at him, and with caution, she approaches Mig.
¡°So? Are you ready?¡±
¡°Yes, help me get out of here so that we can end this war¡±
Miriel¡¯s expression and actions softened as she looked at Mig with his intentions. Miriel nods her head as she tells Mig to follow her. Miriel leads Mig around the facility until they arrive at the vehicle storage. The cold air is the first thing Mig feels as he looks around at the forest he will have to traverse.
Chapter 5- Mig鈥檚 Escape
Both look on at the snowy forest which then Miriel turns back towards Mig.
¡°This is as far as I can take you, take one of the Speed Chariots and head northwest¡±
¡°What about you, I don¡¯t think your higher-ups would let you get away with just letting me leave¡±
¡°Do not fret. I know my steps, we were not seen. You managed to escape by your own means. I can relay that message and have supporters of my claims¡±
¡°Very well. I will find a way to end the war on my side, you do the same. I don¡¯t know when will be the next time we meet, until then¡±
Mig hops onto one of the Elven Speed Chariots in front of him as he starts the cycle he keeps the dagger close, as it is a vital tool for his survival. With one last look back to Miriel, Mig takes off on the Speed Chariot into the snowy forest that surrounds Verdentrech.
¡°Safe travels Mig¡±, said Miriel as she watched Mig ride off into the forest.
Riding the Speed Chariot through the snowy forest Mig nears the edge of the Elf Facility, he picks up the speed of his cycle to drive through the gates as the Elf Militants on guard noticed. The stationary turrets by the gate unable to denote the status of the vehicle that just passed lay dormant until some of the Elf Militants moved to operate the turrets manually.
The turrets fired upon Mig¡¯s cycle, a crystal-like projectile, as Mig swerved around them one of the crystal projectiles came close to hitting Mig, but he moved quickly to block it with the Elven Dagger. He drives deeper into the forest away from the carved path and out of the firing range of the turrets. Mig drives around the tree and in circles to cover up the tracks of his cycle so that any trackers would be thrown off.
Once Mig is sure he has thrown his tracks enough he heads northwest as fast as he can to get out of Elven territory before search groups are sent to investigate what happened. The sun rises ahead of where Mig drives as the gleaming light shines off the snow, Mig knows that soon he will have to slow down and find a place to hold out as it is far too dangerous to continue going in daylight.
¡°Damn, western sunrise, I have to lay low. Too much heat if I keep going. I bet by now Higher Elf Command has gotten word about my escape, but they¡¯ll be looking for a rider. I just got a wait them out till it¡¯s safe to keep moving¡±
Mig settles his cycle by a creek in the forest, lying on his Speed Chariot trying to keep himself hidden. Soon the elements of the forest along with Mig¡¯s growing tiredness start to take effect on Mig.
¡°Adrenaline kept me going for a while, now everything is hitting me like a brick. Luckily the cold will keep me distracted from most of them. Now how am I going to make do¡±
Mig looks at the creek¡¯s river as it seems to head westbound.
¡°I suppose I could go down that route, but I¡¯ll have to do it on foot. At least it¡¯ll keep me busy¡±
Mig gets up as he turns to push his cycle along the river, after hours of pushing, Mig finally starts to feel tired. He stops for a bit to rest, luckily the Speed Chariot has a supply of rations, but unfortunately, the rations in the supply are for Elves.
¡°At least some of this is barely edible, I should just throw out what I can¡¯t eat. No, I can¡¯t be too easy to track. Damn, I¡¯ll just keep it until I can ditch them. For now, I need something in me¡±
Mig sits down to eat one of the Nut Nutrient Bars that were in with the supplies.
¡°There are only so many of these I gotta use them sparsely, so this is the only food I can eat for today and maybe part of tomorrow¡±
Mig finishes eating the Nut Nutrient Bar as he is about to get up, he hears a noise creep around the snowy forest. Mig grabs his dagger and readies himself for what could be around him. As Mig waits, soon a tuskdeer walks past, Mig and the tuskdeer look at each other for a small while before the creature runs off. Mig lays down his dagger back into his waist as he chuckles to himself about his stand-off with the tuskdeer, but soon Mig hears a crack as he gets down, and an arrow flies past him.
Mig turns to where the arrow came from just barely he can see the slight movement of a figure. Mig peaks around the Speed Chariot as he sees the figure from afar reloading the bow to try and shoot again.
Stolen novel; please report.
¡°Who the hell is that? Could be a hunter? No, I¡¯m still within the area of the Elf base. So he¡¯s an Elf Militant, but what¡¯s with the bow? The only cases of a bow used in action were, shit, he¡¯s special forces, some kind of assassin. How¡¯d he track me I was sure I covered my tracks, now¡¯s not the time to ponder, this is do or die¡±
Mig reaches as he grabs a can of rations from the supplies in the Speed Chariot, he throws it back over himself as an arrow hits the can. In that short moment, Mig makes his move as he relocates from behind the Speed Chariot into the cover of the trees. He zig zags around the trees trying to near the Elf Militant Spec-ops all while arrows are fired at the trees that Mig stands behind.
¡°Surely if I have been made then more Elves aren¡¯t far behind, right? Cause it seems like he¡¯s the only one here. I think he tracked me just so he could get me. Damn, if that¡¯s the case, I have to get close enough to him to fight¡±
After enough snaking between the trees, Mig pulls out the dagger to try and charge the Elf Militant Spec-ops. As Mig charged he was able to block an arrow shot with the dagger, but soon a second arrow hit Mig in his shoulder. He shrugs it off, temporarily, as he slashes at the Elf. The Ef is able to dodge Mig¡¯s attack, trying to reload his bow, Mig drives his dagger into the Elf¡¯s hand holding the bow.
¡°What¡¯s the matter, not much of a talk even with a hole through your hand¡±, said Mig pulling the dagger back, splitting the Elf¡¯s hand and cutting the string of the bow.
The Elf Militant Spec-ops through the visor of his mask glares at Mig as he wraps the string of the bow around his split hand to bring it together while grasping the bow ready to fight. Mig responds by cutting the shaft of the arrow in his shoulder with the dagger.
¡°You disrespect the way of my people by using that¡±
¡°Oh, so you can talk, guess you didn¡¯t do so to report me, huh?¡±
¡°Enough of your talk. You humans know nothing and ruin the land that is valued. Do you believe you can best me I have twice your age of experience¡±
¡°Yeah, well all of my life has been war. I think I can stand my ground, but then why don¡¯t you tell me how I do¡±
Both stand off pacing around, snow crunching under their feet, waiting to strike. Silence rings across the forest, but soon the sound of, what could be, a branch breaking, a twig snapping, or even perhaps a tree falling can be heard at that moment both charge at the other.
Mig and the Elf with their dagger and bow, clash as both weapons sound off across the forest. Mig could tell that the Elf winced behind his mask from the shockwave of the hit, but the Elf moved quicker and struck Mig on his side then jabbed at the partial arrow still in his shoulder. Mig is able to retaliate as he drags the dagger across the Elf¡¯s chest, but all Mig can do is barely slash at the Elf as he is holding Mig¡¯s dagger back with the bow.
¡°You humans all brute force no technique. We, Elves, on the other hand, have the grace and tenacity to out-deal you all¡±
¡°Is that so? Cause right now you don¡¯t seem to be so smart¡±
The Elf kicks Mig in the knee as Mig stumbles back, the Elf lunges towards him, and Mig raises his dagger to try and block the Elf¡¯s attack. It does go well as the Elf knocks the dagger aside, he then strikes Mig with the bow in his shoulder. The Elf then beats Mig as he unwraps the string of the bow and pulls it around Mig¡¯s neck.
¡°You know how these bows work, Human, it is magically made. It does not require physical arrows to fire. When the two strings are attached to the ends of the bow and then pulled back an arrow forms. Just like this¡±
An arrow materializes in front of Mig¡¯s face. The Elf steadily holds the arrow ready to fire it at Mig¡¯s face. Mig looks to his left and sees his dagger, he stretches his arm to grab it.
¡°Know this, Human, we Elves have always been superior to your lower race. We value the land and your kind sullied the land with war¡±
¡°If that¡¯s the case why are you bringing conflict into your land right now¡±
¡°What do you babble about?¡±
¡°On your left¡±
The Elf turned as on his left stood the tuskdeer to which then it charged at the Elf, the Elf moved to retract the bow from Mig¡¯s neck to block the tuskdeer. He does so pushing the creature back, but he turns his back on Mig. In that small moment, Mig grabbed his dagger and plunged it into the Elf¡¯s neck.
The Elf is unable to resist Mig¡¯s strength as the dagger enters his neck. The blood pools in the Elf¡¯s throat, he gargles and coughs up blood within his mask. The Elf¡¯s body slumps as Mig lays back on the nearest tree and slides down to the ground. Once Mig fully lays the body of the Elf on the ground, he takes the dagger out.
¡°I guess the forest decided which one of us valued it more¡±
Mig turns over to the tuskdeer as it stood watching him. Mig cleans the dagger and then puts it away, when he does the tuskdeer gets closer to Mig. Mig reaches out his arm to pet the creature.
¡°Thanks for the assist. I would have been done for¡±
After some time of petting the tuskdeer shakes off Mig¡¯s hand and walks away. Mig gets back up and gives one last look to the Elf¡¯s body as he then turns towards the creek where he left his Speed Chariot.
¡°I should start heading out, but I think I¡¯ll take this with me¡±
Mig bends down to pick up the bow as he stored it on his back; he walks back to get his cycle and continues walking down the creek river. After a few hours of walking the sun finally sets to which Mig hops on the cycle to travel faster through the night.
Chapter 6- Survival of the Mig
Mig carries on the routine of driving his Speed Chariot, during the night until daybreak when he then takes a small break to eat some of his Nut Nutrient Bars while continuing to move on foot, for a few days until he reaches the end of the snowy forest that ensnares the Elven Facility he was kept in. Although Mig has made much progress in his escape he has also been eating just barely to get by and has slept even less in that time, nonetheless, Mig is determined to keep moving.
As the cycle drove through the dark forest Mig could feel that he was getting further away from the Elven Facility of Verdentrech, but just because Mig was soon exiting enemy territory that did not mean that he could be any lax in his travels. Danger still loomed ahead as well as potential dangers that could come. Mig would soon have to travel through the Veradigris Vale, or whatever was left of that area, a once warzone could be home to many threats, not to mention that the Elf Militants could launch a secondary search for Mig. Only when Mig was safe within Human territories or with the Human Forces, there was no telling what he could experience.
On the night of Mig¡¯s fifth espace day as he eats what seems like his last Nut Nutrient Bar, the rest of the rations that are stored in the Speed Chairot are Elf food and unable to be consumed by Humans, but on the upside Mig has finally left the snowy forest and will begin to drive through the Veradigris Vale. Mig sat next to his cycle, taking a small break, as he munched on his Nut Nutrient Bar and kept himself as warm as he could with minimal resources.
¡°I¡¯m on the last of my eatable food, I have to find more and ditch the food I can¡¯t eat at some point, but for now I have to keep walking. In this cold, I¡¯ll be shocked if I don¡¯t have or get some kind of Frostbit after all this. On the upside, I¡¯m almost out of this forest so I¡¯ll be able to find a way back and find some food. The trouble would be traveling until I can find a way to contact the Human Forces, then I have to figure out what I should tell them about my escape. I can¡¯t say an Elf Commander helped me escape to try and find the real cause of this war so that we could end it. They won¡¯t believe me if I tell them that, I¡¯ll have to bend the truth. I escape on my own through my means, but I¡¯ll lay some grains about the cause of this war, and see if I can find anything from my superiors. What do you say? Good plan¡±, said Mig looking at a tuskdeer that was standing across from him.
The tuskdeer turns as it moves and shakes its head to seem like it is agreeing with Mig, only to bend its head downwards to find some plants to eat. The tuskdeer eats some of the plants from the ground as Mig finishes his Nut Nutrient Bar, he pockets the wrapper into his cycle. While doing so he looks at the Elven rations that he can¡¯t eat, he looks at the tuskdeer and takes one of the Elven rations.
¡°Here, bud you can eat this, I think, have some. I can¡¯t eat the stuff and it¡¯ll be better than that nearly frozen plant¡±, said Mig holding the Elven ration out for the tuskdeer.
The tuskdeer lifts its head from the ground and moves over to Mig¡¯s hand, it gets close enough that Mig can feel its tusks touch his hand. At first, it sniffs the food not finding it that much appealing.
¡°Well, what do you expect they¡¯re military rations, they¡¯re not supposed to taste good, they¡¯re supposed to give you enough nutrients to keep going. Now just try it, can¡¯t do you that much harm¡±
The tuskdeer moves its head closer to the food again and this time it takes a bit of it. The tuskdeer is enjoying the food that it is eating, Mig tries to set the Elven ration down on the ground, but the tuskdeer eating the food won¡¯t let him.
¡°Clam down there bud, you¡¯re acting like this the the first food you¡¯ve eaten in a while¡±
After Mig said that he noticed that at the tips of the tuskdeer¡¯s tusk, there was what appeared to be dried blood. Mig looking at them realized that this tuskdeer was the same one that saved him from that Elf Militant Spec-ops. Mig pats the head of the tuskdeer.
The author''s narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
¡°You¡¯re that same one, aren¡¯t you? And here I thought I just ran into a different tuskdeer. Have you been following me? If that¡¯s the case then no wonder you¡¯re chowing down like there''s no tomorrow, you¡¯ve been keeping up with my movements¡±
As Mig stops patting the tuskdeer he sees that it has finished eating all of the rations.
¡°It seems you liked it. Well, I thought so it was made of Elven vegetation, that only Elves and some animals can eat. Humans can¡¯t touch the stuff, you can have the other one if you like. I lucked out and both the Elven rations were vegetable ones. I¡¯ll leave it for you once I get out of this forest it should be about one more day''s worth of traveling, but for now I think a little rest won¡¯t do you nor me any harm. What do you say?¡±
The tuskdeer lies down on the ground as Mig rests reclining on his cycle, although he is supposed to be resting out of habit Mig finds himself irregularly waking up in increments.
¡°Up again. I guess habits are hard to kill. I would have thought that being kept prisoner for a few days would affect my vigilance. That tuskdeer seems attached to me, I wonder why, this kind of reminds me of something I remember from Training back in the day¡±
Mig falls back into his sleep as he dreams back to his days in Training, he¡¯s sitting in a lecture hall as 3rd Staff Officer Iason Kasun teaches about Elf history and culture.
¡°Alright, now I understand stand many of you, fresher, are quite new to the concept of knowledge. Many of you want to fight the Elves head-on, but That¡¯s Wrong. To fight an enemy one has to learn about them, so you all will undergo basic learning of Elves before moving to combat drills. Over the thousand years of history on this planet, we have come to learn much about the Elves. For today, one is that Elves, unlike us Humans, are spiritual they believe in multiple forms of the divine, although one major one is that of the Nature Spirits. It is believed by Elven culture that the Nature Spirits protect nature and give good fortune to those who uphold the value of the land¡±
¡°Then why did those Elves attack Human lands? There were homes and families there¡±, yelled out one of the Cadets.
¡°Quite! Who knows why the Elves decided to attack, across the Veradigris Vale, sometimes the smallest spark can ignite a cold war. Moving on back to the Nature Spirits, it is believed that they can take forms of animals and such to help guide those that they view as upholden to the values of nature¡±
A young Mig, not yet known by his nickname, sat listening and taking notes about the Elves. The more he learned about the Elves the better he could be at fighting them and that paid off as Mig came out top of the class in both the knowledge and combat parts of Training, which helped him quickly rise the ranks of the Human Forces. Soon the dream fades as Mig awakens back to the snowy forest resting on his Speed Chariot with the tuskdeer across from him. Mig soon stands up which wakes the tuskdeer that follows suit.
¡°I guess we should keep moving¡±
Mig hops onto his cycle and starts to drive off through the forest, but this time going slightly slower than the days before to let the tuskdeer keep a good pace with Mig. As the two of them continue on Mig talks with the tuskdeer.
¡°So, bud I know you¡¯re following me and all, for now, but you do know you can¡¯t keep following me right? Once I get out of this forest that is where our paths end. I¡¯ll go my way through the Veradigris Vale and you can go back to the forest and do whatever it is you do there. I¡¯ll leave the rest of the rations for you so you don¡¯t have to worry about that. Got it?¡±
The tuskdeer turns its head and keeps walking forward, matching paces with Mig on his cycle. The both of them travel until they arrive at a cliff¡¯s edge, Mig hops off his cycle to take a look at what¡¯s ahead of him. He sees the ruins of a town caught in the war, that has been overtaken by the land, broken houses growing vegetation, fallen military vehicles covered in overgrowth, and once burnt fields full of crops.
¡°There it is. The first of many I¡¯ll have to pass through. There¡¯s a steep on the right, it¡¯ll take us down. Let¡¯s go¡±
Mig and the tuskdeer wander down the steep of the cliff as they are only a small walk away from the end of the forest. They walk on and once at the edge of the forest, Mig comes to a stop, as he stares off at the town ahead of him. He is in an almost frozen state until the tuskdeer taps Mig¡¯s hand with its head, which causes Mig to snap out of it and pets the tuskdeer.
¡°I guess you want the rest of the food, huh? I¡¯ll get it for you, but you can¡¯t follow me, ok?¡±
Mig reaches and takes the last Elven ration out of the cycle, he places it on the ground for the tuskdeer to eat. As it eats the food Mig hops back on his cycle and gives one last look to the tuskdeer. Mig drives off toward the town as he says farewell to the tuskdeer, it then looks up from the food and stares at Mig driving off.
Chapter 7- The Examination of Miriel
One week ago just after Mig had fled the Elven Facility of Verdentrech, Miriel watches as Mig drives off before she heads back to her quarters. Once back she readies herself as the Facility¡¯s alarms go off, the entrance gates have been breached, and the stationary turrets are firing on a suspect. Miriel exits her quarters and joins Liora and Kieran.
¡°Commander, are you sure this is the path you want to tread¡±
¡°Likewise, Higher Elf Command, will not be too pleased if they discover what you have done¡±
¡°Do not worry they will not. This stays with us, besides, letting him go is part of my bigger plan. For it to work both he and I need to work together separately, understood¡±
¡°Yes, Commander¡±
¡°We are with you all the way¡±
¡°Good, now let us move the rest of the Facility is no doubt in uproar and confusion at this¡±
The three of them get out of the isolated area of Verdentrech that kept Mig, they head to see the reports of Mig¡¯s escape, and once there with the rest of the Facility, it is in chaos. Elves are trying to figure out what has happened, many are wondering if an Elf Militant had defected or if something else happened, at that moment a report came in that the suspect on a Speed Chariot had evaded the fire of the stationary turrets and had been lost from sight in the snowy forest.
¡°Commander Miriel, may you please insight us as to why an unknown suspect was determined to flee from your area of Verdentrech¡±, said the High Warden, the highest ranking Elf Militant in the Facility, an older Elf with a full beard that shows his longevity as well as his wisdom.
¡°That is simple, the suspect is an escapee Human prisoner that we were holding¡±
¡°Human prisoner? Now since when do we take prisoners¡±
¡°It was my call, that Human was a high-ranked Human Forces. I thought that information might be taken from him, so I ordered to keep him alive and stored in a room for interrogation¡±
¡°Was any information gained for that Human?¡±
¡°Some, although nothing too useful¡±
¡°So nothing of value was gained from that Human and instead you brought an unsanctioned Human and let him escape. The responsibility of this failure falls on you¡±
¡°I understand¡±
¡°High Warden, if I may, I am Liora, employed under Commander Miriel. Our operation with the Human prisoner was not entirely sanctioned by the Commander. It was weaved through certain individuals up Elf Command, thenceforth we were allowed to commence our plan with the capture and interrogation of the Human prisoner¡±
¡°Even so, that does not explain why I, as the highest rank and operator of this base, was not informed. Explain that regard, Commander Miriel¡±
¡°High Warden, it was a High-Risk Need to Know operation. If successful the praise and reward for our endeavors would have been given, although now that he has escaped there is blame to fall; on me, the Elves of my unit, you High Warden, and Combat Master Ryn¡±
¡°Ryn? I know him, what part of this was he involved in?¡±
¡°He assisted in the detaining and interrogation of the prisoner, I warned him that interrogation by the use of torture would not get results. Ryn insisted and used tools to beat the prisoner. It could be possible that Ryn might have used something that the prisoner could have then gotten his hands on to pick the lock of the room and escape¡±
¡°Were you not guarding the Human, how could he escape without notice?¡±
¡°He must have memorized our patterns of movement and escaped in a short time when we were unavailable. Then he must have traversed through the unmonitored back tunnels until he found an exit port with the Speed Chariots¡±
¡°Those Humans are crafty, nonetheless, there is blame to fall. Summon over Ryn, all of you will answer to me. I will find the individual to blame¡±
The High Warden leaves with a manageable anger as Miriel stands there with a calm composure while Liora and Kieran are shaken that they falsified information to the Superior Officer of the Facility as well as pushed the blame on Ryn.
¡°You two fret not, for it is part of my greater plan. If we can succeed then the whole world will be changed, although I know there will be small sacrifices along the way, I hope there will not be a grand sacrifice¡±
Later Miriel, Ryn, Liora, and Kieran are summoned by the High Warden to be closely examined for the events of Mig¡¯s escape. The High Warden speaks to Miriel once more as she retells what she had told the High Warden earlier, Miriel is able to get the High Warden to believe her, as he next calls for Ryn. The High Warden begins to examine Ryn about his involvement with Mig¡¯s capture, interrogation, and escape.

¡°Now, Combat Master Ryn, you no doubt have heard of the ruckus this morrow of a suspected, Human, fleeing this Facility. I was not informed of such keep within my Facility, although I was told that you had a hand in such, as well as the possibility that you would be at fault for letting that Human escape¡±
¡°Me? At fault, I did no such actions. I merely had a hand in the interrogation of that Human. I could not have done anything else as I was taken off, for Commander Miriel to continue her form of interrogation¡±
¡°Yes, I was informed on the methods of ¡®interrogation¡¯ that were used. You preferred a more hands-on beating, while Commander Miriel was more of a wordsmith¡±
¡°Our differences in matters of intelligence gathering are not of value as we both got nothing out of the Human, before, it, was able to dumbfoundingly escape from Verdentrech. If you ask me I would look into and reassign those Guardsmen for their failure to shoot the fleeing Human¡±
¡°Of your methods, tools were used were they not? It could not have been a case that in your beating of the Human, you might have unknowingly dropped, left, or misplaced any object that the Human could have then taken, in a moment of unsupervision, to use and escape¡±
¡°Of course not, the only tool I used was a stun baton, as a means to torment the Human. I had only a short while before I was taken off by Commander Miriel. I could not have contributed in any way¡±
The High Warden studies Ryn closely and notices an obscurity on Ryn¡¯s uniform.
¡°Combat Master, your uniform seems lacking in honoration¡±
¡°What?¡±, said Ryn as he looked down to notice that a pin was missing from his uniform.
¡°I had not noticed¡±
¡°If done right, even the most crafty animal could open a lock. You think a Human could not repeat that¡±
¡°No, this does not fall on me. I perhaps did not apply it to my uniform or it fell and was in the possession of Commander Miriel. As a matter of fact, why do we not inspect Commander Miriel¡¯s quarter, she resides on that side of Verdentrech¡±
¡°This does not excuse you, although a closer inspection of the area the Human escaped from would serve well, let us good¡±
The High Warden and Ryn head off to see Miriel in her quarters, in Ryn¡¯s attempt to throw the blame back onto Miriel. Once they get there they are met with a shocking sight, entering Miriel¡¯s quarters.
¡°Good Spirits, what has happened in here? This quarter is in ruins, Commander¡±
¡°High Warden, I can explain¡±
¡°No need it seems clear that the fleeing Human stopped within here either in search of you or in search of a path out. Those Human they leave a path of destruction no matter where they are¡±
Miriel turns her face away in embarrassment that the state of her quarters is not due to Mig, but has been in that state due to her organization. In that moment Ryn takes the chance to argue in his favor, by talking about the state of Miriel¡¯s quarters. He is shut up by the High Warden.
¡°Enough of your talk, it seems that you had more of a fault in the Human¡¯s escape than Commander Miriel, I shall seek that you shall atone for this fault. You, Combat Master Ryn, shall instruct a mission of locating that Human to kill. If completed you will be atoned for your failures¡±
¡°It was not on me¡±
¡°Are you challenging my command?¡±
¡°No, High Warden, I shall atone¡±
¡°Then report to Weapons Operations, you will be fitted with a bow and new gear for your atonement mission¡±
¡°Yes, High Warden¡±
As both the High Warden and Ryn walked away Miriel entered her quarters with a grin growing on her face. She sits on her bed to relax from the tension.
¡°I knew that the old High Warden would look differently at me. He cannot shake his old customs. Now I am in the clear to proceed with my plan and Ryn takes the fall¡±
Over the next few days, Miriel works double trying to dig up Elf history and working alongside the High Warden, carrying out Ryn''s atonement mission. In those days Miriel has taken the captured gear that once belonged to Mig and keeps it in her quarters to study when a report comes in from Liora and Kieran.
¡°Commander, there is a situation¡±
¡°Ryn has been killed¡±
¡°What?¡±
¡°You better come with us, Commander¡±
Miriel follows Liora and Kieran down to the Facility¡¯s Operational Office. Once there Miriel is queued in by the High Warden about what has happened to Ryn.
¡°Commander Miriel, good of you to join us now¡±
¡°High Warden, what happened?¡±
¡°Some time ago, within the forest surrounding my Facility, Ryn cut communication with us here in the Operational Office. This morning some scouts were sent and discovered Ryn¡¯s body. According to our medical team, Ryn¡¯s left side suffered quite a few broken bones, and on the right of him a stab wound in his neck¡±
¡°He was able to kill Ryn, he is more skilled than I first figured¡±
¡°It seems so, that Human somehow got the best of Ryn twice. May the Spirits guide him, for he will not be able to guide himself¡±
¡°What is the status of the search for him now?¡±
¡°Ryn was the point leader to track the Human down. Now with him dead finding that Human has now become more troubling. However, if that Human can make it out of the forest it would have to travel an unfathomable amount for it to make it anywhere close to any Human Forces. That Human would most likely die¡±
¡°I would not be so sure he has proven to outsmart us a few times now. He could pull the odds and make it back¡±
¡°I do not believe such, blasphemies ideas, a Human smarter than an Elf. It got lucky from the incompetence of a failure that was killed by it, and that luck of it will soon run out. There is no more need to worry about that Human, instead, we shall move our focus to our next step in Elven Influence¡±
¡°Yes, High Warden. I shall be behind and ready to lead¡±
¡°Excellent. Commander Miriel, may the Spirits bring you grand aid to your endeavor¡±
¡°I sure hope and accept any from the Spirits¡±
Sometime later back in Miriel¡¯s quarters at nightfall, Miriel can¡¯t help but feel elated that all she has done so far has worked. She thinks back about the High Warden¡¯s dismissal of Mig: ¡°That arrogant old Elf, quick to dismiss Humans, but Mig is not so easy to dismiss. I can not wait to be able to see him again¡±
Chapter 8: The Journey of Mig
Driving through the first ruin of a town, Mig can¡¯t help but look around in disdain at the tragedy that had occurred he finds himself sympathizing with the lives of Humans and Elves lost in these towns across the Veradigris Vale during the outbreak of the Enchanted War. Only as Mig does have these thoughts a rouge thought peaks around his mind that causes him to halt his Speed Chariot.
¡°Sympathy for Elves when they started this war. Did they? No, remember what she showed and told me. This war began from a false flag, we have to figure out why so this war can end. I can be doubting this now, she put her trust in me and herself on the line to help me escape. The most I can do is see this through to the End¡±
Mig continues to drive the cycle through the town stopping every once in a while to search if he could find anything useful to help him on his travel, like a radio, communicator, or more importantly, food, since he had no more and could not last his journey if he doesn¡¯t get enough. Mig finds nothing in this ruin of a town so he drives off passing old Human APCs covered in overgrowth.
¡°Any equipment in there would¡¯ve either been taken or is too far gone to be useful. I better keep moving, the faster I¡¯m out of here and to the next the better my chances are¡±
While driving on the sun soon sets as night falls, Mig drives on as up in the sky a beautiful collection of stars can be seen illuminating the night below, but Mig doesn¡¯t have the time to look up nor does he. The sole goal of Mig right now is to make it to the next town in search of food or any useful, working, equipment. Not an hour after leaving the last town Mig arrives at the next one, here he stops to rest, search, and let the Speed Chariot recharge.
¡°This is a good place as any to take a short stop at, and besides the Speed Chariot needs time for its power crystal to recharge, I wouldn¡¯t want that to die on me mid-travel. Then I would have to go the rest by foot. Although now¡¯s not the time to be thinking about what could happen, I have to focus on now¡±
Just then Mig¡¯s stomach from, days now of, not eating growls loudly.
¡°They say that water is the most important to have, but when I have plenty of water, from the river back in the forest, all I¡¯m missing is the food to keep my strength up. I better start checking the inside of all these houses, even some canned food would be a gift from the Almighty¡±
Mig searches through the homes for anything, while he goes home by home he doesn¡¯t find much, assuming that these places were raided long ago they wouldn¡¯t have much left in terms of useful or edible. Although Mig finds some homes that aren¡¯t empty, looking down at the, now, skeletal remains of the people that used to live here. Mig is reminded about those, unlike him, who could not and did not make it out when the war broke out. Upon seeing those remains of people, whether they were Human or Elf, Mig leaves the house not even searching if it has anything, out of respect.
¡°It ain¡¯t right. Even if this war was a false flag, by who knows and for what, I can¡¯t shake this mixed feeling I have. I have all this anger from years of this war, but now I¡¯m not so sure¡±
Mig looks around as if he is talking to someone only to see that there is no one around in a small bit of embarrassment Mig covers his face.
¡°Only for a few days, but I got used to that tuskdeer, now I¡¯m talking to myself. I don¡¯t know if that¡¯s a good thing or a bad one. I can worry about that later, although it''s not like I dislike the company that the tuskdeer brought. I haven¡¯t been in friendly company since my, Squad, I failed them. A Squad Leader¡¯s task is to look after his own, I couldn¡¯t do that. They were all killed, by her squad, yet she kept me alive. So that we can end this war, is that all there is to this, it has to be she wouldn¡¯t risk something if she wasn¡¯t sure. Now am I sure?¡±
Before Mig could ponder his question he heard the sound of a bird squawking, as he turned to it he saw the light brown hawk standing on a post overtaken by the wildlife, but taking a closer look Mig realized that the overgrowth under the hawk was a field with crops. Mig runs over to the field as the hawk stands watching him, Mig then pulls one of the crops to see a full-grown carrot and holds it with both his arms.
¡°I never thought I would be happy to see the maroon of carrots. A few of these would last me at least a month, but I can only carry so many in the Speed Chariot. If I break some in half, then maybe I can fit more¡±
As Mig goes to get more carrots from the field the hawk suddenly flies off. Mig looks over as it lands on the entrance to a cellar near a house. Setting down his carrots he walks over to see what could be, opening the cellar doors and heading down. Upon entering the cellar looking over Mig finds shelves of untouched supplies lining the walls of the relatively small cellar.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
¡°I hit the spring with this one. Canned food, survival gear, and low-frequency radios. Even with low-frequency if those radios work I just have to get in communication ranges of the Human Forces¡±
Mig grabs one of the radios as he tests if they have and function, after a short tension Mig finds that the radio works. It had luckily been untouched since the start of the war. Mig puts the radio in his pocket as he grabs a satchel bag from the nearby table, he puts some of the canned foods, including fruits and meat, as well as some survival tools, like a knife and flame rod, into the satchel. He wraps the satchel around his body as he exits the cellar, he then walks back to the field and picks up the carrots that he had. Breaking the carrots in half Mig placed the few he could in the satchel and the rest within the Speed Chariot. When he turns back he sees the hawk looking at him.
¡°Did it lead me to these supplies? How would it have known? No, I shouldn¡¯t waste time thinking about this. I have enough supplies to last me for a good while of traveling, I better not waste any time¡±
Mig hops back on his cycle and begins to drive off all while the hawk staring at him flies away. Mig gets a strive going as he is now able to drive longer not needing to make as many stops, as he drives he holds the radio over his head trying to find a signal, for days Mig does this only stopping to rest, eat, and let the Speed Chariot recharge itself. Setting a fire with the flame rod, as he would use the survival knife to open some of the canned meat to cook, while with his dagger he would peal the carrots so he could eat them as well. Soon Mig gets a faint signal from the radio, during a short moment of resting, looking over where the signal would get stronger he sees a town in the distance, but not just any town, his hometown. Mig freezes, holding the radio in one hand and his dagger in the other, as he looks upon the ruins of his childhood town. While frozen in a state of shock from seeing his hometown for the first time in decades, Mig is unaware that a hedgehare walks up to him. The feeling of the creature walking near Mig is enough to snap him out of his state.
¡°Ah? Shoo. I¡¯m not something you can lay on¡±
The hedgehare stares at Mig trying to shoo it away, but it only jumps and takes the radio out of Mig¡¯s hand and runs off towards the town.
¡°Hey!¡±
Without thinking Mig runs after the hedgehare leaving behind his campfire and Speed Chariot. Chasing the creature Mig stops to realize that he made it all the way to the town center, as he looks around at the town in ruins and covered in overgrowth he remembers what the town used to look like.
¡°The town center? I remember when I and the other kids would play around here, then we would go to¡±, said Mig turning to look at another ruin of a building: ¡°The old bakery. It had some of the best bread I¡¯ve ever eaten¡±
In those small moments of remembrance, Mig forgets that he was chasing the hedgehare with his radio, instead, Mig walks around his old town. He sees the destruction that was left, the nature that reclaimed the land, and every once in a while he will find the remains of those who once lived. Nonetheless, Mig has a literal walk down memory lane as he looks around his town old memories that he had been repressing start to flow back. Soon he sees the hedgehare again with his radio, which brings Mig back into focus, he chases after the hedgehare. The hedgehare then drops the radio and runs off away from him. Mig bends down to pick up the radio as he does he notices that the hedgehare led him to in front of his old house. Staring at the house Mig misses that the radio sounds off.
¡°Signal¡detected. The recipient is asked to respond¡±
¡°I¡I don¡¯t believe it. No matter what state it¡¯s in I would always recognise it. My old childhood home, the one I ran from¡±
¡°Repeat, radio signal detected. The recipient is informed to respond. This is secure frequencies¡±
Mig still does hear the radio as he enters his old home, once inside he looks around, and it doesn¡¯t take him long to find the bodies of his murdered family. Upon seeing this Mig sinks to the ground sorrow filling him as he remembers the day when he saw them get shot and all he could do was run away.
¡°I¡¯m so sorry. It was the only thing I could have done. I¡¯ll end this war so that no one else suffers this same way, I¡¯ll do whatever it takes¡±
Then Mig is finally able to hear what the radio has been relaying: ¡°Recipient, radio signal detected, Respond¡±
¡°This is Lieutenant Corporal Marvin Graves¡±
¡°Heard. Repeat, Lieutenant Corporal?¡±
¡°Yes, Lieutenant Corporal, Human Forces Service ID Number 124875¡±
¡°Reading. Service ID Confirmed. Lieutenant Corporal Mig? Confirmation?¡±
¡°Yeah, that¡¯s me. I¡¯m not dead yet¡±
¡°Status, Alive! Inbound rescue will be sent. Keeping transmitting from current location¡±
¡°Understood, Mig out¡±
A good half hour later Mig hears the whirls of Human Forces Helio-Jets circling and then landing nearby, that¡¯s when Mig decides to get out of his old home and walk over to them with his hands up. The Human Forces Troops see him and exit the Helio-Jet.
¡°Sir, what happened? How did you get here?¡±
¡°It long story, kid¡±
Mig is escorted onto the Helio-Jet, to be flown back to Shadowfalls Fort.
Elsewhere, across the Veradigris Vale, back at Verdentrech, Miriel in her quarters is tinkering with Mig¡¯s old captured gear when she gets full access to Mig¡¯s old communication device: ¡°I repeat this is Human Forces, Air Hawk 2, to Command. Recovery of personal success, currently within Helio-Jet. Confirmation, one, Lieutenant Corporal Mig, has been recovered¡±
¡°Lieutenant Corporal Mig? Confirmed?¡±
¡°Yes, it¡¯s actually him, it¡¯s Mig¡±
¡°Understood, an Agent of H.I.M. will be deployed to assess¡±
The transmission cuts off as Miriel can¡¯t help but be happy with what she just heard. She places down the communicator: ¡°He made it back. I knew he was the right one to pick. Now the plan can continue¡±.
Hiatus Notice
This is just a reminder for those who did see my note at the end of the pervious chapter. Due to real life circumstances I will be busy for sometime, now while I could continue to make new chapter, I feel like they would come out rushed. I would rather take my time, work on these new chapter passively, then when I am finished and have the free time to work again I can then start dropping new chapters for you all to enjoy. Originally I was getting swamped when I was working on Chapter 8, I thought of taking a break before I finished it, but then I realized it would have been the end of the first arc, so I worked on finishing that chapter and settling to take a break afterward. Sorry this had to happen, I don''t know how long this hiatus will be, but be assure that I will be back with new chapters before the end of this year. In the mean time reread, share, and rate the current chapters.
