《The Elementalist Wars: Book 1 Earth》 Prologue 1.1 ¡°I don¡¯t understand! What is clouding my sight?!¡± Adelina shouted angrily as she paced the room. She paused and glanced over her shoulder towards the door of her bedroom as the soft thudding of footsteps approached. In walked a mountainous man with the kindest features. His soft honey eyes offset by the deep brown locks that framed his face. The concern etched on his brow was enough to ease the anger in Adelina. ¡°What is it?¡± he asked in his deep gravelly tone. ¡°Oh Alan,¡± she sighed, ¡°something is wrong. My visions feel¡ Off.¡± ¡°How so, my love?¡±, the concern in his voice echoed in his features. Sighing, Adelina walked to the corner of the room and sat on the cool earth. She closed her eyes and placed a hand on the floor by each knee. Alan smiled to himself as he watched her. He had always been amazed by her ability to commune with the earth. He watched as her long satin black hair slid forward on her shoulders. Her hair made her sapphire eyes almost glow when she looked at him. He still couldn¡¯t understand how someone as delicate and graceful as her could love him. Her eyes flew open, ¡°Nothing!¡± she snarled. ¡°I have had five different visions about the earth and something terrible happening. I just can¡¯t see it clearly, or even when it happens!¡± she exclaimed. ¡°It feels as if someone or something is trying to keep the visions from me.¡± ¡°Well, were you able to see anything at all?¡± ¡°Just chaos, so much destruction and death. We have to warn the people. Not just ours but the humans as well. I can''t see when it will happen but I know it will. They have to know so that we all can prepare. Maybe we can stop it if we work together.¡± ¡°Alright, I¡¯ll have Grace set up an appointment with the Human Liaison. I¡¯m sure we can meet with them this afternoon, or tomorrow at the latest¡± Alan said. ¡°Ok, I will get Alex and let Kelile know so he can get the guard ready.¡± she stated. ¡°I will find you once the arrangements are made,¡± he said and turned to leave. Adeleina sat with her hands still resting on the cool earth and closed her eyes once more. She asked the earth for guidance again searching her mind''s eye. She found the blurred visions and tried to explore them hoping to get any glimpse of clarity. As she cycled through them she thought she heard the faint whispering of a hum. Sighing she opened her eyes and in one fluid motion stood to leave the room. While walking down the corridor towards her son¡¯s room she delicately ran her fingers along the wall replaying the vision in which she heard the voice. It had been a voice humming.. Hadn''t it? Maybe I''m trying to read too much into this vision because I can''t get any clarity from them . Furrowing her brow she dropped her hand and continued on her way. The haunting tune of the humming still whispered through her head as she entered her son¡¯s room. She looked to Alexander¡¯s crib and smiled to see him sleeping so soundly. Walking to his closet and she grabs down his travel bag. It was a brown leather duffel bag with little ducks hand embroidered on it. Alex made a soft cry and turned in his crib as she went through his drawers grabbing his clothing. Once his bag was filled Adeleina walked to his crib and placed her hand on his back. She gently rubbed it, softly humming the Earthen tune of awakening. His little eyes fluttered open and he let out a giggle as he looked at his mother. Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. ¡°Hello my little angel, did you have a good nap?¡± she cooed at him. ¡°Come now, we have an adventure to go on,¡± she said as she picked him up. She grabbed his bag and with him on her hip she walked out of his room and down the hall. She turned left at the end of the hall and continued until she was at the security room. She opened the door and stepped in. ¡°Kelile,¡± Adelina said as she put the bag on the floor at her feet, ¡°We are going top side.¡± ¡°What¡¯s the occasion?¡± asked a gruff voice. ¡°We are setting up a meeting with Charles the Human Liaison, I need to discuss some visions I have been having. We want to depart as soon as possible.¡± ¡°You aren''t giving me much time Ma¡¯am, the trip above takes a lot of coordination with my team and the humans.¡± he said. Kelile stood up. His tall lean figure towering over his desk. A frown creasing his forehead. ¡°I know, but it is urgent. I don¡¯t know when these visions will happen. It could start tomorrow, or in 50 years. That¡¯s my problem. It should only be an overnight stay,¡± she sighed ¡°Alright, let me call in teams A and B. That should be sufficient for a trip above with such short notice,¡± he said thinking out loud. He sat back down and started calling people. Adelina picked up the little brown bag and left the office. As she made her way to the room she shared with her husband she thought about the trip up top. She understood Kelile¡¯s frustration with the short notice. Maybe we could wait and give him the time needed to prepare, she said to herself. As the thought completed a tingling sense of urgency settled in its place. No, we need to go as soon as possible. She placed Alex¡¯s bag by the door and sat him on the bed. ¡°Here darling, play with this while mommy packs,¡± she said, handing him a stuffed duck. She walked to her closet and grabbed a couple of bags. We don''t need much, this will be just a one night trip. She thought to herself. She gathered clothing for herself and her husband, packed them in the bags, and placed them at the door with Alex¡¯s. ¡°Alright love, what is Mr. Duck doing,¡± she said as she crawled onto the bed and sat cross legged with her son. ¡°Ok, we are set for the surface,¡± said Alan from the doorway of the room. ¡°No issues or questions?¡± she asked. ¡°Oh Plenty,¡± he said chuckling, ¡°I just told them everything will be answered when we get there. That you would explain.¡± ¡°Alright, then we are just waiting for Kelile to get the escort teams ready.¡± she stated. ¡°Will you keep your eye on Alex, I am going to commune with the Earth again to see if I can get any clarity.¡± ¡°Of course dear, come here rugrat!¡± he boomed, a gleeful squeal was his answer as he scooped Alex off the bed. Adelina smiled, shaking her head at the sight of them. She slid off the bed and made her way to the corner of the room. She sat cross legged on the cool earth and placed her hands on either side of her knees digging them slightly into the dirt and closed her eyes. Mother Earth hear my cry, she thought as she tilted her head forward, Please grant me clarity. Help me to see what is to happen so that I can help you. A tingling sensation started to grow inside of her. She relaxed and let it wash over her. There was a flash of light and she was teleported. In front of her was a sinkhole so large she could not see where it ended. The earth below her gave way and she was falling. Another flash took her to a volcano. It was about to erupt. A blinding light again and she was on a beach, but there was no water for as far as she could see. She felt the rumble of the earth and looked again. What she thought was the horizon was getting closer. The wave coming at her was so enormous it consumed the sky. As it was about to crash down on her the vision cleared in a white light once more. When she was able to focus she was in the clouds. She looked down and the earth was in shambles. She looked around herself. It felt weird to look down at the earth. It also felt strange to not feel alone in her vision. All she could see were clouds wisping around her. ¡°You don¡¯t belong here¡± said a voice. Before she could respond she was sent flying towards the earth. The cloud she was on disappeared. Prologue 1.2 Her head snapped up as her eyes flew open and she drew in a sharp breath. What just happened? She thought. ¡°Dear?¡± asked Alan. She looked at him in a daze. ¡°Are you alright? I have been trying to wake you for hours,¡± he said. ¡°Hours?¡± she asked, shaking her head. ¡°It couldn''t have been hours, I just sat down¡± ¡°Adelina, it''s been 5 hours since you started your visions¡± he stated, concerned for his wife. ¡°5 hours¡ but I¡¡± her words faded as her thoughts went back to the visions she had witnessed. ¡°What did you see?¡± Alan asked. ¡°There was so much of the same things but on a larger scale. A sinkhole so wide it could have consumed an entire city. Volcanoes erupting all over the world. A tsunami wave so gigantic in size it blocked the sun. All of that correlates with the pieces of sight I had been having. The strange part was the end¡ it was like someone was there.¡± she said in a daze. ¡°What do you mean someone was there?¡± he asked ¡°Well after all of the visions of destruction I found myself floating above the world. Like, I was standing on a cloud, and I could see everything. The world was on fire.¡± she said her brows furrowed. ¡°I don''t know how to explain this part though. I felt as if someone was around me. Watching me, but as I looked around I was only surrounded by clouds. Then there was a voice, only I didn''t hear it with my ears, it was in my head. It said I didn''t belong there, and before I could respond the clouds were ripped away from under me, and I was falling from the sky. Then I was here.¡± ¡°Do you have any sense of who it could have been?¡± he asked. It was a gift of his to listen to Adelina¡¯s visions and then question her on them to try and help her get as much out of them as possible. ¡°No, it was so different. They weren''t just in my vision, it¡¯s like they were in my mind.¡± she said. ¡°My visions are given to me from the Earth, like your ability to move it. This intruder was not just in my mind, but they were controlling what I saw and felt.¡± Before Alan could respond Kelile knocked at their door. ¡°Enter,¡± he said, still looking at his wife. ¡°Your Majesty¡¯s,¡± Kelile said as he walked in the room. ¡°The Teams are ready for the voyage topside. I spoke with Grace and the cars will be ready for us once there.¡± ¡°Alright, then let''s grab these bags and head to the departure area.¡± Alan said Kelile nodded and grabbed the bags by the door. Adelina, still on the floor, stood up on shaky legs. Alan walked to pick up Alex from the bed. Together they filed out of the room and headed to the travel area. ¡°Here we are,¡± said Kelile as the car stopped. Before them was a huge domed building with large double glass doors. On the top of the dome was a tube that extended so high the end could not be seen. ¡°Welcome to the Travel Center,¡± said a pleasant voice over the intercom as they entered the building. ¡°I¡¯m going to meet with the team,¡± said Kelile as he walked off towards them. ¡°Let me take those for you, Your Highness¡± said a melodic voice. ¡°Grace, thank you,¡± said Adelina, adjusting Alex in her arms so that she could hand her the bag from her shoulder. ¡°Of course Your Highness,¡± Grace said with a small bow. ¡°Grace, you know you don''t need to be so formal with us,¡± admonished Alan. ¡°I know what you have said to me, but I will always show respect especially in public, Your Highness,¡± she said, bowing again in his direction. She loaded their bags onto a trolley cart and started walking towards an entry that had ¡®Staging Area¡¯ above it. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. ¡°Follow me,¡± she said. Adelina, holding Alex, followed behind with Alan at her side. They entered the doors and walked down the corridor to another set of doors. As they approached the doors swung open revealing a waiting room area filled with chairs and couches. No one was in there except for Kelile and his two teams for the escort. ¡°Your Majesty''s,¡± he said with a bow, both teams echoing his greeting. ¡°Kelile, I wanted to thank all you and your team for coming together so quickly for this emergency visit to the surface. I know we are not abiding by proper protocol doing things this way and that it could endanger us all. The Earth is crying out for help and we all must do our part to try and stop it.¡± Alan said to the group of men and women before him. ¡°Of course Your Majesty, it¡¯s what we do,¡± said Kelile. Alan turned and joined his wife and child on a couch as they waited for Grace to come back to them. Fifteen minutes passed and Grace came back into the room and headed towards them. ¡°We are ready to proceed,¡± she said with a smile. They all gathered and walked over to an enormous metal gateway. Grace went to the panel and entered a series of keys. A loud ¡°Clink¡± rang through the room as the gate rolled to the side revealing a huge room with a giant platform in the middle encased by a glass tube. Surrounding that were four smaller platforms with a person standing on each one. They all walked into the room, the gate rolling closed behind them. Climbing the stairs Adelina, still holding Alex, and Alan headed to the center of the platform. Kelile then followed and arranged the teams in a circle around the Royal family. Grace spoke over the intercom, ¡°Everyone, Ground your stance. Pushers on green begin transport.¡± The lights in the room dimmed. The room then glowed yellow and after 30 secs changed to green. The platform began to shake as the ceiling opened up. A barrier formed around the platform as it started to move upwards. It took no more than 5 mins to reach the top side platform area. The Barrier slowly came down as the platform settled. ¡°You are now free to unground yourselves,¡± said Grace¡¯s voice over the intercom system. ¡°Thank you and as always enjoy your top side adventures!¡± Everyone on the platform released and headed to the stairs. ¡°Team A, head out and secure the area. Team B, check the cars and secure them.¡± Kelile instructed the men and women in front of him. ¡°Sir yes sir,¡± they exclaimed in unison and hurried off to complete the tasks assigned. ¡°I will take your bags and load them in the cars. I will come back for you once the area is secure.¡± He said to Alan and Adelina. With that he turned and headed out with the bags in hand. ¡°What time is Charles expecting us?¡± asked Adelina. ¡°Whenever we show up. I just told him we would be there today.¡± he replied, making a face at Alex. ¡°Murglgul beda dayee,¡± Alex replied then giggled. ¡°I think he just said Daddy!¡± Alan exclaimed. ¡°I think he did too. What about mama?¡± she cooed at him. ¡°Buzrle gak yugrl,¡± Alex said followed by a screeching giggle. ¡°Well, I don''t know what you said but ok,¡± she said to him rubbing her nose to his. ¡°Your Majesty¡¯s Kelile sent me to get you. We are ready to move out.¡± said a tall young man. ¡°Shall we?¡± asked Alan, extending his arm to his wife. ¡°We shall,¡± said Adelina, accepting it as they walked towards the double doors. As they emerged from the building hand in hand they walked towards the third car in a line of six. A woman with hardened features opened the door and they climbed in. ¡°There is no seat for Alex.¡± Adelina said. ¡°Oh, let me find out where it is, your highness,¡± said the woman. There was a melodic cadence to her voice and a slight buzz filled the vehicle. ¡°It¡¯s a short ride. I''m sure you can hold him love,¡± said Alan. ¡°I suppose you¡¯re right. Plus the sooner we are there the better,¡± she answered ¡° I have an uneasy feeling.¡± ¡°Your Majesty¡¯s,¡± said a gruff voice outside the car window. ¡°You are supposed to be in car number four in the convoy. The car seat is there for the little one.¡± ¡°We are going to stay here , the ride is short.¡± said Alan ¡°Your Highness, Safety protocol dictates..¡± he started ¡°That will be all Myles,¡± Kelile said sternly as he walked up behind him. ¡°We can change cars, Kelile if that is easier. I just want to get going.¡± Adelina said as she bounced Alex on her lap. ¡°It¡¯s fine, your grace, it only requires that I change which vehicle I am in.¡± He then clicked his radio, ¡°Let¡¯s move out.¡±
